Madagascar Tomato Frog

AKA Dyscophus antongilii

Red as a tomato! These frogs are only found in northern Madagascar, and are closely related to the false tomato frogs from the same country (I wonder if they have a family rivalry).

The girls are redder and bigger, up to 4.13 inches, while the boys barely get half as big. They're from the Narrow-Mouthed frog family, which tend to be smaller, but these are a bit bigger.

They can live in forests, swamps, and ponds, but their habitats are being degraded and polluted, and some end up living in cities.

While frogs are mostly known for eating flies, these even ambush and eat beetles! That's a tomato for you.

I've been wearing makeup regularly for a long time and nothing about it really bothers me but I really do not like wearing lipstick. anything other than a sheer gloss is so hard to manage and I just feel like my lips are not shaped for it or something. So many people who DON'T have much makeup experience are always like "all I wear is a swipe of red lipstick!" "A swipe"???? You're "swiping" on red lipstick and you're happy with how it looks?? And then it's on and you have to suffer through the humiliating ordeal of making sure it's still on and only on where it's supposed to be

So I recently started reading this book called Breath about the detrimental health effects of mouth breathing and importance of breathing through your nose (among other things). So as an experiment, I’ve followed the advice and taped the middle of my lips shut before I go to sleep for the last few days. Weirdly, every time I’ve tried, I’ve woken up before 8 am naturally with a little less back pain than before—for context, I rarely wake up before 9/9:30 without an alarm unless I’m super excited or nervous about something.

I’ll be really curious to see of this happens consistently, because if so, that’s a big deal for me. I always assumed my sleep was fine because I rarely woke up at night and usually got between 7 and 9 hours, and that all my aches and pains were mostly due to my workout regime, shrimping tendencies, and being fat. But uhhh might be a bit more complicated than that
