NaruHina Fic Recs
NaruHina fanfics that I feel like don't get recommended enough
(Ratings from M to E)
Compounds by Midnightrain19 (Highschool AU)
"By definition, it means when two or more chemical elements bonded together that - wait, are you even listening Naruto?" Hinata paused looking up. A lazy smirk etches his face and shivers go up her spine, face warming. Leaning in, his grin widens. "Of course, I'm enjoying this talk on heat dynamics; especially with you!" She stutters and he beams, chemistry just got interesting…
Surprisingly this is the first naruhina highschool au fic I've read, and WOW. I really like how the characters are written, and this story will definitely catch you by surprise in the middle. It seems like an unassuming fluff fest, but it really hits you with the angst and the action. I can't say any more about it because I might spoil it. A MUST-READ.
Status: Complete

21 Days by BunnyHoodlum  @bunny-hoodlum (Modern AU)
Hinata answered a simple post from a flirty, and blatantly horny guy. She thought that might break her out of her shell, help her practice establishing her boundaries and all that stuff.
She never would have known that the flirty anon on the other side was someone she actually knew.
(I think this is a pretty well known fic? But I don't really see enough people talking about it.)
This is one of those fics where the tags would either frighten or intrigue you.
Something about Naruto being a military brat lights a fire in me (a very hot, smokey fire). I really love how Naruto's brain works in the fic. We dive in so deep into his own troubles with his family life, with his relationships, and with himself. Hinata's troubles are so well written, and I love how even if she's meant to be a bit closed off, she doesn't come across as meek and mild.
The team 7 dynamic in this is adorable, and the smut is smutty.
Don't let the fact that it's incomplete sway you the story is so SO worth it.
Status: Incomplete (On going... I hope)
Another fic where we have Hinata "breaking out of her shell" is:
Money Shot by Orphan_Account (Modern AU)
As he drew closer to pay, the hairs on the back of his neck rose registering a faint scent for the first time - coconut. Immediately Naruto was flooded with memories of PearlPrincess’ stream from the night before. The sensual arch of her spine, her exquisite, high-pitched moans—
No. Hinata didn’t deserve to be compared to PearlPrincess. No matter how attractive she was, she was just too pure. And yet.
Hot. Hot. Hot.
Unfortunately I can no longer find the original author for this fic, but if you know who they are please tell me!
Status: Complete
Echoes of Silence by ellaroundpanda  @ellaroundpanda (Modern AU)
Hinata Hyuga was trapped. Her relationship with Toneri was leading to nowhere and she wanted to find a new Dom. Naruto Uzumaki seemed to be the answer to all her prayers, but her fiancé wouldn't give up that easily…
There was a time in my life where I would go onto AO3 every. single. day. hoping for an update on this, and by the grace of the author, it’s been recently updated. (July 29, 2022)
Again, the tags would either frighten or intrigue you. It’s definitely not for everyone (there’s one-sided sasuhina in this) but everything that might sway you is what’s going to keep you reading. The fluff is tooth-rotting. The tension is gripping. The smut in this is what 50 shades wanted to be.
The author included warnings for very explicit scenes so I think you can just skip over those if you need to.
Status: On going
edit: I found the tumblrs of the authors of “21 Days” and “Echoes of Silence” and tagged them accordingly!
I still can’t find the tumblr of the author of “Compounds”, and I still can’t find who wrote “Money Shot”. If you know who they are please tell me!

VOTE2 Hand symbolism
alright it's been quite a while since I've been on here for our sns boys. That is not particularly what I'm going to talk about.
So we all know how in vote2 sns BOTH lost an arm or hand however you'd like to think of it, there have already been people that have analyzed the symbolism of them chopping off their soulmate hands and still choosing each other. And if I refind their posts again while scrolling through the sns tag I will gladly tag them!
I'm here to talk about what happened after that. We know how SasuSaku and naruhina were all really forced. but I think Naruto is still deeply oblivious to wtf the whole thing with his bestie was. Sasuke however- I think he's known since Shippuden.
Which is why the difference in their marriage issues are so important to highlight, Naruhina is just Naruto desperately going ANYWHERE else instead of with his family. He counts headbands instead of going home when he's the hokages ffs.
SasuSaku is a pity deal. He knows damn well the only reason he married Sakura was to say sorry, because he had no other options, and to re establish his clan .
(which by the way! I'm pretty sure sarada was mechanically engineered Or a complete drunken accident)
But Sasuke has a better relationship with a child he didn't talk to for 12 years then his own wife who he's known since he was twelve!?
Naruto is commited. He's unhappy but would never leave.
Sasuke would.
Naruto regrew his hand
Sasuke didnt
Sasuke is still fully committed to Naruto and don't get me wrong, Naruto is too. But if you asked them who they'd rather save. Their kids or eachother Sasuke wouldn't fucking hesitate.
(he don't have another hand 😭✋ not for sarada or Sakura)

Are there any naruto ships you dislike besides naruhina and sasusaku?
Not… really?
Shipping in itself is kind of fun right? I don’t really do it a lot myself especially not in ‘Naruto’ (I do enjoy reading fan-fiction outside of SNS, like SNK, Haikyuu, DN and BNHA) and I don’t consider SNS a ship or any “already mutual romantic connection” to be ships either.
So yes, NH/SS are ships to me.
Naruto and Sasuke may not be in a relationship, but for a majority of their lives they’ve been aware of the other and have started to try and give meaning to whatever it is that they’ve been feeling so strongly about.
“Shipping” all of that sounds a bit.. underwhelming to say the least. Hence me calling myself a SNS-fan.
Now..
NaruSaku, SasuHina, SakuIno, SakuHina, InoHina, KakaSaku, KakaSasu, KakaNaru, KakaIru, NaruSasuSaku, ItaSaku, ItaSasu, ItaNaru, KakaGai, NaruGaa, LeeSaku, KakaObi, ObiSaku, GaaLee, OroSasu, .. I can go on and on..
Some of these are disturbing even if some hc’s are cute and some I have a problem with for other reasons. Written in fan-fiction, there are some I don’t mind.
I wouldn’t necessarily say I “dislike” them though, because just like these aren’t established romantic relationships as written by Kishimoto, neither is NH/SS.
They just aren’t.
The only difference between them is that NH/SS got the title ‘canon’, because Naruto had to marry.. sorry, -married Hinata. And Sasuke.. married Sakura? I guess? They say? Signed some paper along the way? Lol? And therefore they became marketing material, but nothing emotionally had been established either way. Fight me on it.
A title means shit all.
Right, Naruto?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Exactly.
And that is the reason why I dislike NH/SS as ships, but not the others.
Because that’s just what it is.. ships. Something that you’re supposed to do for fun, but how is it ‘fun’ when you have to dumb down the main characters (yes, yes this includes Sakura and Hinata) and their development to suit your head-canon’s? To glorify your heterosexual view, “because that’s the only way things should go especially since it’s Shonen”. Or to put other characters they can insert themselves into (for whatever reason) on a pedestal so they can “shine” who frankly aren’t as significant in the story (“damn that Kishimoto”) as they'd like to see?
And if all of that doesn’t sound ‘fun’ enough, how about arguing for it with straight up false claims and misleading information that all the dude-bro’s and sisters will back them up with on the first 3 Google links that are none other than Reddit and Quora.
See? There’s the difference. And that << I dislike about NH/SS as ships.
Well-.. that and Hinata Hyuuga.. I have to be honest. *nods*
But it’s not just all the fandom, because the marketing team keeps feeding this fight which I wrote about here <
Anyway, no, I don’t dislike ships generally. NH/SS are just.. very special. Though some ‘Naruto’-ships that this fandom comes up with are a little interesting in their own way.

Which ship had more development: SasuSaku or NaruHina?
Hmmm. Interesting question. I’ll write a long answer to this. Before I begin, though, I just want to say that I like both pairings, so I’m not going to bash one to elevate the other, as I feel that’s quite silly.
I think both pairings had good development, but at different times in the storyline, and their development is of different natures.
Many people in the fandom confuse interaction and development, but those things aren’t the same. A development is a perceptible change in the relationship from time A to time B, while an interaction is the number of times they, well, interact. To give an example, the relationship between Iruka and Naruto receives a ton of development within the first chapter of the manga. We go from Iruka resolving his feelings towards Naruto and acknowledging him, defending him, and letting him graduate, establishing himself as Naruto’s father figure, even if they have minimal interactions later on. That all happens, again, in just one chapter. It can even happen when the characters barely interact at all, as with Ebisu and Naruto, or Kankuro and Temari with Naruto. We need to apply this principle with SasuSaku and NaruHina too, and not obsess over who got the most panel-time or page-time, because that is not the definition of development.
Now onto the long rambling. SasuSaku is like a desert plant that had to weather a harsh sandstorm to fully grow, while NaruHina is more like a tree which grew huge over years of watering and warm, sunny weather.
Sakura, at the beginning of the manga, has a crush on Sasuke, although she doesn’t really know him very well, nor does he know her very well. Their relationship progresses when Sakura makes that unpleasant comment of Naruto being an orphan and doing whatever he wants. This annoys Sasuke, who is also an orphan. He tells off Sakura, who resolves to be kinder from then on. Sakura gets bashed for this a lot, but it is in fact a positive development, because she broadens her mind and outlook. The next development we get is during the bell test, when Sasuke and Sakura decide to break Kakashi’s rules and feed Naruto their lunch, demonstrating their teamwork.
So within the first few chapters, Sakura has gone from having a somewhat superficial understanding of Sasuke, to gaining a small bit of insight into his life (and Naruto’s life) as an orphan, and proving capable of collaborating together and producing the results that Kakashi desires in genin.
Next is the Land of Waves mission. They display good teamwork here again against Zabuza and Haku, but the biggest development here in their relationship is when Haku “kills” Sasuke. Sakura, significantly, demonstrates a deep understanding of their hard life as ninja; she says that according to the shinobi code of conduct, she should not cry.
She cries anyway.
Remember who else was a “crybaby ninja”? None other than Kakashi’s old teammate, Obito. Remember what Kakashi did when he got the Sharingan for the first time?
He cried. For the people who were precious to him.
At this point in time, we can’t classify her feelings towards Sasuke as something superficial anymore. He’s an important friend. That’s another significant development.
So far, we’ve talked about the development of Sakura’s feelings towards Sasuke, but what about the other way around? Let’s get to that.
We now enter the Chuunin Exams, which is full of SasuSaku development. Kakashi thinks they’re ready, even though they are rookies, something which strikes others like Iruka and Guy as odd (Guy, specifically, has waited a year before signing his kids up). People like to bash Sakura as a “useless fangirl” in Part 1, but it’s plainly foolish in light of Kakashi’s own opinion; he nominates them as a team, so he clearly finds her skills satisfactory.
Not Sasuke though. Sasuke tells her off again here, saying that she’s “worse than Naruto” and that she could train harder. This might seem negative at first glance, true. Sasuke is a blunt individual. But what’s significant here is that he believes in her potential. He wants her to do better. He thinks she can do better. He pushes her to be her best, in his own way. He’s invested in her development as a ninja. He also gives her credit where it’s due, when he says that her sense of genjutsu is the best on the team when Izumo and Kotetsu test them and the other genin. He isn’t indifferent to her, nor does he ignore her like some may think.
This isn’t a one-sided street either. In the Forest of Death, it’s Sakura’s turn to tell off Sasuke for wanting to run from Orochimaru. Here, she too, thinks he’s better than this. She calls him a coward. She pushes him to be his best too, in a way. She’s a far cry from being a “fangirl” by the Chuunin Exams.
The biggest moment in the Chuunin Exams is the “who hurt you?” scene. Here, we see that Sasuke cares enough to violently attack Zaku and break his arms, deeply disturbing Sakura, but most significantly, Sakura calms him down. She is the first person to understand the darkness within Sasuke, not even Naruto and Kakashi. Sakura is.
On top of this, during the Konoha Crush, when Gaara attacks Sasuke, Sakura is the one to defend him, standing in front of him, ready to give up her life, and Sasuke, in turn, wants Naruto to get her away from the fight when she’s outmatched, because he doesn’t want to lose anyone precious again. Here, we’re explicitly shown exactly what Sasuke thinks of her. The first confirmation of how much she means to him.
There are quite a few comedic moments in this part of the story, from Naruto and Sakura being ticked off at Kakashi’s lateness to Sakura being ticked off at Naruto and Sasuke’s stupid squabbling to all of them being freaked out by Guy’s giant eyebrows. There are also times when they brainstorm and plan on how to get their scroll in the second round of the exams. I’d just like to point these out because this pairing isn’t all angst and gloom, nor “one-sided crushes” as some say. They can laugh and have fun together and respect each other enough to consult the other for help.
Taking all these together, it’s no surprise that Sakura is the one to confront Sasuke as he is about to leave the village. It’s also no surprise that he doesn’t even try to harm her. He just says “thank you” and knocks her out.
Because there was something there. She meant something to him too.
So we can say that SasuSaku got a lot of development in Part 1.
In Part 2, Sasuke and Sakura are separated from each other for the most part, although they have several emotionally charged confrontations with each other. As he gets more and more consumed by rage and hate, he tries to sever his bonds with his teammates. Part 2 isn’t exactly SasuSaku development, but it’s more of Sakura, Naruto, and Kakashi trying to preserve what they have with Sasuke. It’s essentially arrested development because Sasuke isn’t moving on from the past, from Itachi and the Uchiha. He can’t move into the future.
After all, if he’s full of rage and hate, how can he allow love to grow in his heart? Though he tries to crush that part of himself, he doesn’t entirely succeed. Sasuke still remembers them, his old team, when Team Taka attacks Killer B and the jinchuuriki easily wipes the floor with them. That’s why he’s able to quench Amaterasu. It’s an interesting moment. They’re still precious to him.
SasuSaku finally receives resolution at the end of the war, when Sasuke learns to stop hating. It’s only when he stops hating that he can move on with his loved ones, the ones who never gave up on him, and the relationship can develop. The final parallel in Chapter 699 shows this; he says “thank you” to Sakura again. He doesn’t knock her out this time in the middle of the night, but instead gives her an affectionate poke on the forehead in the broad daylight. He might be leaving on a journey again, but it’s not to seek power, it’s to understand the bonds of love that hold the world together. He might be leaving, but he’ll always be back. To home. To Sakura. And Sarada, later on.
NaruHina, on the other hand, have parallel development. But because Naruto invests in building bonds with his loved ones, unlike Sasuke who was trying to burn those bridges, they get more and more mutual development in Part 2; it isn’t arrested, like SasuSaku, because Naruto was all about overcoming rage and hate in Part 2.
Unlike Sakura, Hinata is introduced slightly later on in the story, during the Chuunin Exams, not the Land of Waves mission, when Team 8, like Team 7, is nominated by their sensei even though they are all rookies. We are given Naruto’s impression of her: a shy, dark girl who looks away when he looks at her. It’s interesting the odd contrast this has with her name. Both her first and last name mean something like “sun direction” or “facing the sun,” but she is shy, hesitant, and hides herself away in these big, bulky clothes.
People like to say that Naruto doesn’t “notice” her, yet these claims are obviously faulty, because he clearly notices her enough to make these observations about her. It isn’t entirely a positive impression, but neither is it a completely negative one, like how he says he hates Sasuke in the beginning of the manga.
They’re seated together during the first round of the exams, and Hinata wishes him well on the test, which he seems to appreciate, although “he didn’t even notice her.” Hahaha, that will definitely change as the series goes on.
Moving onto the exam, she sees him struggling to answer the questions and offers to let him look at her answers. He refuses, saying that he’s an incredible ninja and doesn’t need to cheat, and that he doesn’t want her to get in trouble either. He also asks her why she wants to help him, and she says she doesn’t want him to disappear here.
These are all big, positive developments in their relationship. So now, Hinata has developed from a shy, dark person to one who is nice enough to let him look at her answers, and one of the few people who “don’t want him to disappear.” A completely sincere and earnest person as Naruto understands, because he can’t believe that she would want him to get in trouble, and thinks Kiba put her up to it (of course he’s totally wrong there; she did it of her own free will, as she would later say when Pain attacks Konoha).
They are given very heavy parallels and development in the Chuunin Exams. Just like Naruto, Hinata has been disdained and has not received acknowledgement from her clan because she’s too weak. Other people are better than her in the ninja arts, people such as her cousin Neji and little sister Hanabi, who as her name indicates, is revealed to be a sparkly firecracker in the Last movie, unlike the shy, gentle Hinata. Her father declares her superfluous to the Hyuuga, and tells Kurenai that he’s unbothered by the thought of her being in life-threatening situations. Where Naruto doesn’t have a family, Hinata’s family has stifled her and tried to crush her spirit. It’s no wonder that she’s dark, hesitant, and hides away in those big, bulky clothes, so unlike her name.
Naruto can’t stand the idea of Neji browbeating her in their match, nor can she handle Kiba mocking Naruto in their match. Where Hinata thinks in her mind that she wants to cheer Naruto on, Naruto openly cheers her on and tells her that it hurts to watch. They are the first to believe in each other, not even their teammates.
Naruto’s belief in her spurs her on to continue fighting past the point of defeat. She adopts the same ninja way as him, and though she doesn’t win the match, she’s changed, just a little. Naruto, by this point, is enraged by Neji’s treatment of her and swears on her blood that he’ll defeat Neji.
Later, when he feels jittery at the thought of facing Neji, she’s the one who encourages him; she admires that though he fails and fails, he always gets back up. In her mind, that’s true strength. She gets an intense feeling in her heart.
This gives him the courage to face Neji, and it should be pointed out that he defeats Neji, in part, for her. He looks for her after the match is over, wondering if she saw him. A far cry from “I didn’t even notice her.” In a sense, Neji, true to his name, is a screw who connects them together.
Those are such great parallels and development. Hinata, when she keeps failing and failing and stands up in her match against Neji, she’s just like Naruto. When Naruto is hesitant and filled with self-doubt, he’s just like the old Hinata. And when Hinata encourages him and points out his true strength, he gets the strength to overcome his shortcomings, just like the new Hinata. They have a positive feedback loop.
Their development continues in Part 2, when Hinata sees him for the first time in three years and freaks out over what to say to him. Naruto seeks her out and asks why she’s “hiding.” Again, a far cry from “I didn’t even notice her,” and a bit of foreshadowing, when she finally stops hiding and honestly tells him her feelings later on. Of course, at this moment, she’s too overwhelmed and faints in shock, giving us some humor with Naruto completely oblivious as to why she acted that way; they have light moments as well as heavy, just like SasuSaku.
We get some interactions during the time when Team 7 and Team 8 search for Itachi, where Hinata seems completely unbothered by the fact that Naruto is a jinchuuriki, and demonstrates just how much her skills have improved since Part 1, when she analyzes how Kabuto’s body has been taken over by Orochimaru’s cells and sees the flames of Amaterasu from miles away, but the biggest developments they have are during Pain’s attack and the Fourth Ninja War.
She steps in when Naruto is pinned to the ground by Pain and finally stops hiding and shows her true strength. All this time, she’s been looking at Naruto’s back, chasing after him, wanting to be with him, but now the tables have turned. He’s literally looking at her back, and while he’s shocked at her resolve to fight, she’s calm and does so of her own will. A lot of translations have her say she’s “selfish,” but the word she uses is “hitoriyogari,” which is more accurately “self-satisfaction.” As in, she’s doing this for her own self, to change her own self, for her own self-satisfaction, a theme which goes back to her fight with Neji, when she also resolves to change herself. This is a build-up of that.
This is also why I hate when people say “her personality revolves around Naruto,” because yes, while she does love him, what she’s doing here is changing herself, for herself, for her own self-satisfaction. Her own development and growth. She wants to be a person she can like. Not the old Hinata who always used to give up. Now she won’t give up even though she knows she’ll never defeat Pain. She owes that to Naruto and to herself. She finally embodies her name, “facing the sun.”
When Pain attacks her, Naruto goes completely berserk and gives up all control to the Kyuubi. “Destroy everything,” the fox says. “Give your heart to me, and I’ll save you from your suffering.” Seeing Hinata attacked and almost dying caused him that much suffering and pain. Why? Because he loves her too. He doesn’t tell us, but he shows us with his actions. Seeing Hinata attacked, in my view, was like seeing himself attacked. They are parallels and share the same philosophy and ninja way. They’re almost reflections of each other. You could say that now she is the one who gives him an intense feeling in his heart, just as he did for her.
Their next moments of development are in the war, when they’re constantly saving each other from despair and pain.
When Hinata is fighting the White Zetsu, and lapses into her brief self-doubt, thinking she’s useless, Naruto shows up, says everything’s okay, and seemingly reads her mind, telling her not to get so down on herself, and that she’s strong. He throws her own words from the Chuunin Exams back at her.
When Neji dies, and Naruto lapses into despair, Hinata’s the one who slaps sense back into him, reminding him of their shared ninja way, throwing his own words from the Chuunin Exams back at him.
She resolves to stop running and finally stand by his side, holding his hand. Well, he beats her to the punch, when he holds her hand, thanks her, and says it’s all because of her being by his side. Hinata once again starts doubting she could execute the Sixty-Four Palms, then remembers Neji and Naruto’s words of encouragement, and not only succeeds, but improves the technique by combining it with her Twin Lion Fists. Supporting each other, even when they’re not physically present.
They’re connected across long distances, and both are terrified when something happens to the other; Hinata, rushing towards him when his heartbeat grows weaker and weaker (a parallel to the Chuunin Exams, when he’s terrified when her heartbeat goes weaker and weaker). Naruto, rushing towards Hinata, when she’s caught in the Infinite Tsukuyomi and calls out to him for help. A positive feedback loop.
They get their resolution at the end of the series too, when they stand together, side by side forever, with the one who’s always believed in them. They’re twin suns, just as Minato and Kushina were described, and whom they closely parallel.
Okay, I’ll stop now. I hope I’ve demonstrated that both have good development, though of different kinds.

Do you have any sasuhina recommendations
Hi! I do have some recs, but bear with me. I didn't read much about them so you will forgive me if I can't give you many recs.
First we have:
A Question of Professionalism by GremlinSR. A stunning fic, wrote beautifully and all the characters are IC. It's my favourite SasuHina, and I have such a soft spot for it. It follows canon until after Naruto The Last and then goes canon divergent. Absolutely lovely work.
with you by Tilim. A very enjoyable fic, and I loved it. Great characterization and development. It’s canon up untile after the fouth ninja war and then it diverges.
Saudade by Fher34. Lovely, lovely work. A tender SasuHina that explores their relationship with sweet snapshots of their life together. I urge you to go through the author profile because they have a rich page with lots of SasuHina fics.
Evanesce by ChasingAnswers. Short but sweet OS.
The Chill of Winter by Lanse.  Cute OS, a lovely start for a relationship between Sasuke and Hinata. Also, Sasuke is absolutely besotted already.
Miru Hoshi by Reinao Tanaka. Lovely canon divergence, with lots of action and love. I also urge you to take a look at the author’s page because they have a lot of worthy SasuHina stories in their profile.
Bittersweet by Lisea18. Hinata moving on from unrequited love and falling in love with Sasuke. Plus ANBU!Hinata which I always appreciate.
Ikigai by Lanse. Lots of Hinata whump in this one, and a not-so-noble Sasuke coming to help her. If you are searching for healty relationship, this may not be for you.
Our Son by SilverKitsune2017. What happens when they have a son after a one night stand? Well imagine that in the canon universe. Drama is assured to begin. A bit of Clan Hyuuga bashing, but overall I enjoyed it. The author has quite the collection of SasuHina fics in their profile, so it’s worth checking out.
Operation SasuHina: Halloween by MsChifSantos. This one is a Modern AU, with our Sasuke triying to get the girl he likes to be his girlfriend. A nice cute fic, very good if someone likes a bit of humor too.
Plain, simple, but mine by BK-Black Knight. Another moder AU, with some found family feels.
The Hyuuga curse by BWL. If you like some crack and humor this fic is the right choice for you. Also the SasuHina is very sweet.
Better off dead by wingedmercury. A well thought AU in the canon setting.
Hold on tight by Unbalanced kiss. A hight school AU with Sasuke as a knight in shining armor saving Hinata from a nasty situation.
All for love by Rampantt. Deals with some side (and abusive) established NaruHina, but SasuHina is endgame.
And last but not least my fic, Re-Life. It’s canon compliant until the end of the fourth ninja war and then diverges.
I hope I helped you!

Maybe I'm lame but I'm so happy right now. 😭
This book is so fucking interesting. My brain is alive. 😳
Tumblr media
"The harder the kinbaku technique, the more reflective it is of the relationship between the tying partners. Often a bottleneck is confronted when a knot cannot be completed, when the tightness of rope is misjudged, or when the Top gets a little bit slow, thereby causing pain to the bottom. At such a moment, the various past displeasures between the two, the suppressed emotions, and the dust-laden memories begin to surface. By taking a moment to let your partner know and accept the other's feelings, such that the nawashi feels the pain suffered by the model and is filled with gratitude, while the model in turn feels that all the pain is worth it. Thus the two appreciate what they are striving to achieve. Working together in a seamless way to arrive at the moment when two hearts connect -- this is more precious than anything.
All this is not that hard to understand; a couple that practices intensely as dance partners will be able to share the same experience. The only difference is that in kinbaku, the bakushi and the model are involving themselves in a more extreme challenge. Learning shibari is a journey were both people grow together. Books, the internet, and kinbaku teachers can only set you upon your own path of learning. The one that will teach you the most is still your partner. I hope that you, the kinbaku practitioners will treasure your partners, and always hold gratitude to them; for they are spending their time to teach us with their bodies."
-excerpt from introduction
Great... now my initial plot is changing again... I don't know which one is better. 😓😢😭 I've got three mutations giving me this 🥺🥺🥺 and I'm all like 😤 !!! Cuz they're all equally good.
College student!Hinata and BDSM instructor!Naruto
Aerial Silk acrobat!Hinata turned shibari model working in an underground club, has a meet-cute with new employee Naruto who has no understanding about this stuff at all but then wants to learn after seeing her perform. Konan is the mama-san and main bakushi. Naruto then becomes her student and Hinata's personal nawashi after.
Established couple NaruHina taking a shibari class.
Obviously one of these is a multi-chap while the others are long one-shots, but still! 🤣
Also, I've got like 8 outlines all strictly on Glory Holes and IDK when any of that's happening. The gutter's flooded, y'all. 🥽🌊

What ideas do you have about your own post-Shippuden canon?
No Boruto, no naruhina, sasusaku, Sakura has happy romantic relationships with Rock Lee. As for the shinobi world.. here i’m in process. I watch Naruto again and when i finish i would like to write (for myself) what could happen to Naruto being hokage. I also need to understand Sasuke’s true attitude to Konoha, shinobi system etc. I could be wrong, but i read somewhere on tumblr that there is a difference between Naruto and Sasuke in Naruto and Naruto and Sasuke in Boruto. If there are any good analyzes of what is happening in Boruto, send it to me please.
So, what can i write now. I think Naruto is too “good”. It may sound rough, but, as in our world, good leaders are not needed. But wars are needed! Each war is someone's way to make money. And even if it seems to us that after the fourth shinobi world war peace has come.. well, only for a while. Because everything in the world comes cyclically. Peace and stability are not eternal. And let's not forget about the establishment, true political leaders of countries - feudal lords. Rulers and also their relatives as an elite have great opportunities, their own interests in other countries (resources, business). And i think that Naruto will fall victim from this elite. I don’t see a happy end for Naruto and Sasuke. Sasuke will lose him.
I don't know what is the main idea and conflict in Boruto.. Maybe someone wants or hopes that can put an end to the shinobi system (with war, violence and hate) and finally world peace will come? But I don’t believe it. And that's why... ATTENTION! Attack on titan ENDING SPOILER!  ↓
(((What Eren made is comparable to a nuclear war. And even after this nuclear war, when humanity was almost exterminated, people continue to fight for their interests. After titans as a weapon, people continue to fight with other weapons. And i agree with Isayama. This is human nature. The world where everyone lives long and happily is utopia)))

wanna play by the rules and entertain the idea of straight ships in Naruto?
I couldn't sleep so - apparently, yeah.
the only canon ship that makes sense is ShikaTema. like really. thats like my second best ship apart from SNS but if we consider the straight world - I'm gonna go with that one. they are so made for each other its not even funny its freaking adorable!!!! Shikamaru what-a-drag-women-amiright Nara x Temari I-like-dorks-who-I-can-dominate Sabaku is the power couple we deserve. and she is like the only married woman apart from Sakura who hasn't completely abandoned her work? she is an ambassador of Suna. right? or wait. was it just fanfiction? nevermind, she is a badass anyway.
I don't know about Karui and Choji... I mean, they are okay. maybe. I just have no idea how they could've ended up together. AT ALL.
moving on, there is SaiIno who I both adore to the depth of my heart and believe to be the low-key SNS. even though they don't make much sense too thanx to the plot, I do like them together. Ino always chased after Sasuke, but more cause everybody did... and honestly after all Sasuke has done you have to be a total idiot to still love him (I know two of those can you guess who). Sai - while looking similar - is handsome, smart and weird in his own way, and has this enigma fleur about him so I can totally see how he could have caught her attention, and she is a pretty girl who can kick ass and not afraid to stand up for herself, and if we entertain the idea that Sai has a thing for blonds after Naruto brought him out of his shell then maybe it makes even more sense. but what do I know...
I am really struggling to remember other ships (at least regarding rookie 9+3) so I'll just jump to the major ones I take issue with.
SasuSaku and NaruHina.
first of all - I don't hate these ships solely cause I like SNS. i honestly wouldn't ship them even in a completely straight word where no rainbow has ever appeared (that was lame but I am sleep deprived so back off wouldya).
they just DONT MATCH.
yeah Sakura was smitten with Sasuke and Hinata with Naruto for like... 700 episodes.
SO WHAT
that doesn't make them good couples. lemme explain why.
Sasuke is broken. okay? he.is.not.interested.in.family.
he doesn't connect with people. he can't! he broke the bond with Sakura when he left the village and that fragile shadow of it they established after the war is just not enough to build a relationship on. the only person he hasn't broken the bond with is Naruto and even relationship with him wouldn't be easy.
but we're in straight world, so I would assume he'd like to avoid human contact as a plague whatsoever. mb have a child or two to keep Uchiha bloodline, but no strings attached.
oh wait! sounds exactly like what he did.
hell, mb SasuSaku makes sense after all (SARCASM)
NaruHina is more likely.
but Hinata is so damn boring.
I mean... she isn't that boring. she is strong, relentless, stoic, brave and shit. but.so.boring.
Naruto would love playing house for a couple of years sure. cause he always wanted a family, yeah. but he also needs someone who can match him. at least on some level.
unfortunately, she cant.
she doesn't even seem to have a personality outside of Naruto. newsflash, that ain't healthy. I mean even though Sakura reduces to a blushing mess around Sasuke, she is pretty badass when he is not around.
Hinata is not. she could be! she damn well could be.
but she is not.
the only straight couple that makes sense out of these four is NaruSaku. yeah honestly. they have matching personalities, they would be a fun couple! both strong enough to not be consumed by each other, having a long history of friendship to support their love... even though they didn't have the best start, Sakura learnt to respect and like Naruto and he always adored her. their banter would keep things between them heated... damn, that's sorta even healthier than SNS in some ways.
but I really don't like that Sasuke is left out in this picture so I'd still go with SNS. Sakura can land any other guy.
or just bear Sasuke's child. that'll do nicely if she'd be satisfied with it.
but it doesn't seem likely.
so I'd leave her with Lee? or she can be alone. or InoSaku is pretty interesting but oh right thats a straight world. she could be with Sai though. but that leaves us eith a big issues of Ino being too good for any other guy out there so I am like really lost here.
Hinata would be okay with Kiba? probably. but I feel like Kiba needs somebody more... lively? though... they have been on the same team for a long time. I am pretty sure Kiba and Shino know her better than anybody else. so maybe... MAYBE Kiba would be a good match for her.
please don't ask me why I don't consider Shino cause honestly the guy is just a big buggy enigma for me I can't really imagine with anybody.
that's pretty much it with the straight ships.
I hope I can sleep now.

Since my Discord group brought this up imma put this here too.
Ichigo Kurosaki X Orihime isn't a bad ship if you look at it on a surface level in the same way Naruto xHinata is a good ship on a surface level. Orihime loves Ichigo that is a fact that isn't in question it is painfully obvious she adores him not on the level of Hinata stalking Naruto but as a actual active friend in his group. Ichigo admitedly did vow to protect Orihime something which Rukia briefly teased him to do.
Orihime loves Ichigo in a way that isn't platonic and the paralells between her and Hinata Hyuga are very apparent if you want to defend Ichihime.
But heres the thing with both Naruhina and Ichihime. With Naruhina Naruto quite literally had noone else to turn to when it came to love the one he once loved ended up shagging with the resident emo and any other girl he could have gotten with wouldnt work because he spent his whole teen life chasing after said girl.
While the girl he did end up with was in fact someone who stalked him everywhere and while it was considered good and shy at first when i learned that this wasnt a one off thing i was turned off.
Now comparing this to Orihime she is much better at this than Hinata, she loves Ichigo but doesn't cling to him in the series in the same ways that Hinata did to Naruto.
But you want to know why i like Naruhina more than Ichihime in thi scenario?
Because one of these girls didnt forget how to fucking fight and become a damsel in distress after a single arc.
Now back to Ichigo Kuroskai x Rukia Kuchiki or better known as IchiRuki.
The way this relationship started was rocky in the terms of 'wow they argue like a married couple' Rukia Kuchiki is a woman who has permanetly impacted his life forevermore just as he has done to hers.
In the time before we are introduced to the 13 Court Guard Squads of Soul Society, we see the obvious chemistry between the two and yet we are also presently surprised that while obvious it's not forced.
Their personalities clash and mesh naturally and even when Rukia is being saved the two bicker in such a way that gets you smiling because you've missed these moments so much when Rukia went back to Soul Society to prevent any more harm to the boy she's grown to care so much about. People tend to forget that the initial relationship between Rukia and Ichigo wasn't exactly allowed, Rukia broke the law when she gave her powers to Ichigo and even more so when she didn't immediately go back to report said broken law and have her powers transferred back.
She legitimately forgot about it until it was too late not because the laws aren’t important to her---but because she was genuinely having so much fun with the orange haired boy.
Fucks sake they shared a room for months in which they just hung out when Hollows weren't about.
Even after the rescue and Rukia still once again went above and beyond to help him invade Hueco Mundo to save Orihime along with Renji.
In turn Ichigo who was known to have a small group of friends and genuinely left alone took to this woman like a fish did to water. When she was taken, and he was beaten he risked being hollowfied just to regain the power he needed to save her from death.
He was willing to fight 13--let me repeat that 13 Soul Reaper Captains and their divisions **alone** to save this girl, whenever Rukia was in danger like when Grimmjow stabbed her in the stomach he got pissed beyond belief. Now you can say that this is because he just wanted to protect his friend and that's fine but that doesn't dissuade my point now does it?
Even when they were saying goodbye after Aizens defeat they were joking up until the literally couldn't anymore and Rukia looked beyond sad Ichigo wouldn’t be able to see or interact with her anymore and afterwards Ichigo was depressed until the Ginjo arc.
Now give me some hints of Ichihime other than the ones I’ve said and ones that don't involve that famous bedroom sleep confessions she did nor anytime Ichigo had to save her.
Can you? Let me stop you from doing a useless search because the answer is a big fat No.
The simple matter of the fact is this, Ichigo Kurosaki has little if no chemistry with Orihime Inoue beyond the fact that she loved him. Yes, there was the Grimmjow fight and moments in the Quincy war arc you can point out, but it shouldn’t take big events to show a characters love for someone. There has to be other moments in which the love can be justified and shown on BOTH parts off the battlefield and in their regular lives something that wasn't shown for Ichigo and Orihime but what *was* shown for Rukia and Ichigo.
I have no problems with people who like the ship initially, but to those fanatics who attack IchRuki fans before and especially after it became canon. To *those* people I say that their opinions and views infuriate me because of the very obvious evidence put in front of our faces as to the ship I support and love.
It helps that Rukia was shown to actually be a very competent Soul Reaper time after time even achieving the level of a very powerful Bankai and her role wasn't as a damsel in distress when they've established that she has power unlike what they did with Orihime.
Bottom line, Ichigo Kurosaki and Rukia ~~Kurosaki~~ Kuchiki have a better build up in relationship and actual chemistry and that is why I was upset at how it turned out. I would have much preferred there to be no romantic relationships and for it to be left open like Kubo initially wanted than what the editors and publishers rushed and forced out of him at the end.

Hello! I couldnt find the post that said questioned whether or not sakura is a badly written character kr not, and id like to disagree. While all the things you said are true and the main reason for my love of sakura's character, it wasnt used to its full potential and as a child watching the show, im often left with gaping disappointment. There are times when sakura couldve fought back or retaliated, and there are times when her character often contradicts herself. I get that hypocrisy is part of human nature but it didnt feel like good writing.
And while sasusaku is not my favorite sakura ship, i respect it as canon and grew to love fanon sasusaku, and after discovering sasuke retsuden i grew to love it even more. I just thought that their relationship developed too soon, id like for them to establish a friendship before the romance.
Well, I don’t know what posts you’re referring to specifically, but maybe we can elaborate on some points to reach a mutual understanding about stuff!
1 - What points in particular do you believe Sakura should have fought back or retaliated where she didn’t? Against whom?
2 - At what point does her character contradict with previously written character of herself? Which part of her character is contradicting with what other part?
3 - They did have 1-2 years of friendship in part one before Sakura realized she loved him (when he’s leaving the village) and the meta text describes Sasuke as positively responding to ‘Sakura filling his lonely existence with love’. Further, while Sakura has already fallen for Sasuke, post-699 Sasuke and Sakura don’t yet get together. It’s only 2 years later during Sasuke Hiden that Sasuke realizes he loves her, and then they travel together for an indeterminable amount of time before marriage and baby happens.
In short, Sasuke and Sakura meet at 6 or 7
Sasuke and Sakura become acquainted with each other at 11 or 12
Kakashi determines Sakura’s love for Sasuke has matured at 17
Sasuke and Sakura’s mutual romance begins at 19-20
Sasusaku probably has the longest development out of the main romances. Naruhina is technically longer, since Hinata and Naruto interacted at what look like 4 or 5, but they have almost zero interaction from that point until 16 and then get married at 18/19, with very little interaction between that.
I’m not saying Sasusaku couldn’t have been further developed - I’d definitely enjoy a Sasusaku Hiden covering the time from when Sasuke returns to the village to when he has to leave for most of a decade, but for Naruto standards it’s positively slow burn.

trying to get my blank period timeline in order for future fics and
its confirmed that sasuke and sakura established some kind of commitment to each other in the months between the end of the war and before he leaves for his journey by sakura hiden
in this period he also tells her all about the uchiha clan downfall and his memories about his family (by 699 she knows the significance of the forehead poke and she knows that he wanted to be on the leaf police force in the sasuke shinden novel and he definitely told her his personal memories by naruto shinden)
sasuke sends her a hawk his lame wedding gift at naruto’s wedding (he could have sent it to naruto directly) and with the inosai scene, it implies that he is her date and he knows that she is waiting for him
everyone (not only team 7) knows about their relationship while they are apart cuz karin decides to give that picture of taka to sakura in sasuke shinden (the one that sarada eventually finds in naruto gaiden)
sasuke finally returns to the village after 2 years (because of naruto’s note to him with sakura’s comment about him being in the police force) and says im home, sakura (end of sakura hiden/sasuke shinden)
there is 15 years between 699 and 700. sasuke comes back 2 years after the war, and since sarada is 11 y/o in naruto gaiden, they wouldve had her 2 years after he comes back.
how long do we think they stayed in the village before they went on their travels? my headcanon is now that they got married in like the few months they stayed in konoha before they went on their travels (sasuke would absolutely insist this is the honourable thing to do and be all sakura ive loved u this whole time who cares if we’ve only been dating officially for a few months)
if fourth ninja world war ends oct 11 year 1 and sarada is born march 31 year 4. then they conceived sarada in june year 3 (SUMMER SEX)
they give birth in karin’s hideout can u imagine sasuke frantically bringing a preggo sakura, absolutely bridal style, to one of orochimarus hideouts lmao and they probably return to konoha right after
bonus: karin tells suigetsu that sakura makes sasuke happy in naruto gaiden probably because she witnessed it when sakura gave birth (karin unexpectedly becomes the biggest ss shipper in boruto)
sasuke stays in konoha until at least sarada can walk (children usually walk at around 1 y/o? maybe ninja babies are faster lol)
theres all this weird sp stuff that doesnt really make sense...like where sakura says he never kissed her?  (am i even remembering this right but anyway we already know this isnt true) also that their first date was 2 mins (i mean...who cares they travelled together for nearly 2 years)
sasuke tells naruto to tell sakura im sorry for everything (presumably for not coming home in ten years sorry there is no way around this)
sasuke says in sasuke retsuden that they exchange letters regularly (idk if this only applies to post naruto gaiden but probably not because he sends her the hawk letter in the naruhina wedding arc and also regularly sends updates to naruto)
sakura says in boruto post chuunin exams that sometimes he comes home to sleep for sex without sarada knowing (only post naruto gaiden/pre and post chuunin exams? but the way he “randomly” pops in during naruto shinden suggests to me that he does this all the time without seeing sarada)

Boruto children designs
This post is several months too late but since I’m kinda back on this blog, I might as well make it.
This will be a critique of some of the Boruto designs as well as a small guide on how to go about designing a child of already established characters. Mostly naruto-centered but maybe it will come in handy for someone people out there.
Let’s start by deciding what makes a good design. For this I’ll use the best child design in Boruto: ChoCho. Here’s a small collab to make it easier to visualize.
Tumblr media
Color choice. Cho Cho’s colors are very harmonious and work well with each other.  She’s got more brownish hair colour after Choji, but it’s being warmed by Kauri’s red hair. ChoCho’s skin colour was also adjusted and, if you look closely, it’s a bit more orange to fit her hair better. When it comes to her outfit, white seems to be the most dominant colour, clearly referencing to Kauri. Still, the thing that gets our attention is yellow, which fits her eye colour and does wonders for balancing her design. It also adds that unique touch to her as a character.
Design elements. ChoCho’s design takes heavily from her parents but it does it smartly and creatively. Just like Choji’s shippuden outfit references more japanese armor, ChoCho’s design also references more traditional attire, a kimono. From Kauri she got her thigh-high boots and her little hair tie (take a look at Kauri’s earrings and then at ChoCho’s hair ties. That’s a brilliant re-use of an element!). It’s also worth noting that her pigtails are a reference to Choji’s part one design.
The differences. For now we talked about similarities, but let’s talk about what makes ChoCho different. Her hair: even though both of her parents’s hair are naturally spiky, hers is more smooth and falls naturally onto her back. However, spikes aren’t exactly gone and they were re-used on her pigtails. It’s a great touch that’s not too much overwhelming but makes all the difference. Devil is always in the detail. What I think is one of the most important things here is that ChoCho doesn’t have Chojis cheek-spirals. 99% of the time they are character-unique. Don’t try to force them onto the child, it makes them seem more of a carbon copy, even though the rest of the design might be okay.
To summarize:
Mix and re-use elements smartly, don’t just copy-paste them. Settle on a color pallet and follow it. Always remember to add unique touches. Even though a character is a child of two others, they’re a human being on their own, not clones. For Naruto characters, try to use both part 1 and shippuden designs, it will give you more ideas to follow.
Few tips I’d like to add:
Pick your battles (one parent will always seem a bit more dominant design-vise. Nothing wrong with that!)
Genetics. If one character is blonde and the other has dark hair, the chance that child’s hair will be light blonde are minimal. Try to balance things a bit more.
If a parent character hast their own existing, canon parents (Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kakashi ect.) don’t be afraid to use them. A lot of children are even more similar to their grandparents than to their parents. Some genes also can skip a generation. Use it to your advantage.
Designs can tell a lot about personalities. You can describe your character’s relationship with her parents through their design.
if a character is from a clan, feel free to reference other clan members. Especially when they have very similar looks (Dark-haired Hyuugas and Uchihas, Inuzuka’s face markings ect).
Now onto the bad Naruto designs. Some of them are better than the others and some of them are atrocious. Note that these do not reflect my opinion of characters personality, only on design. From bad to worse:
Tumblr media
1. Himawari - Himawari’s design is not that bad. I actually quite like it, I think her hairstyle was done really, really well (references both Hinata and Naruto visually yet makes it unique) and it’s definitely the strongest part of her design. The topic of eyes is relative, I think that at least one of the children of NaruHina should have Hyuuga’s light eyes, that being said: It’s honestly not that big of a deal. There is one thing, however, that bothers me to no end. The whiskers. They were an attribute of Naruto and him only, a reference to Kyuubi and something that gave him that characteristic look. I firmly believe they downgrade Himawari’s design heavily and make her seem more of a copy that she actually is.
Tumblr media
2. Boruto - A carbon copy of his father, Naruto with one whisker less and longer hair. If I asked someone who just finished part 1 on who is the mother of Boruto, they wouldn’t know. Absolutely zero from Hinata’s design. I’d normally put him lower, but the ones beneath him are even worse.
Tumblr media
3. Inojin - Sai with a wig and eye-contacts. The outfit is a very poor attempt at mixing his parents designs (it’s way too obvious). And the hair color, the eyes... why? I could understand blonde hair, but at least give him darker eyes. Anything. And his hairstyle? Sai with a ponytail. God, it’s so lazy.
Tumblr media
4. Shikadai - Shikamaru with Temari’s eyes. And that’s it. They didn’t even tried to give him a different hairstyle. There’s not defending this, honestly.
(Dis) Honorary mention: Metal Lee (we don’t know his mother so I didn’t include him specifically, but he is still pretty bad).

so far from what i see, the hinata discourse is about the pain scene. here's my 2 cents on it. is it bad writing? yeah, probably. its kishi after all. is there someone who would've been better symbolically? yeah iruka probably. is this one of the like 7 (seven) scenes we get where nart and hinata interact? yes. am i so far up the naruhina ship that i dont care its bad writing? also yes. in conclusion, will u have to pry this scene out of my cold, dead, hands? absolutely.
i'm gonna be totally honest with you. conceptually, if someone competent and not misogynistic had written it, hinata jumping in is the best choice
imo iruka has already proven that he'd die for naruto, and it's been established that it's his job to help with the evacuation/look after the kids. having him rush in, especially when he's been ignored for so long (okay there was the jiraiya bit and a competent writer wouldn't have benched him but bear w/me) doesn't work that well
the problem with the scene, in a technical sense, is that hinata and naruto haven't had time together. her only having a crush that naruto hasn't picked up on isn't a hindrance imo. naruto reacted more strongly to her getting hurt than he did to basically anything else, which isn't earned
but it could have been! with literally any establishment of naruto having an emotional investment in hinata in particula, it would have been really rewarding!
or it could have gone the opposite way and kept their relationship as it was in canon and then showed naruto being spooked about this unexpected devotion, which could have paid off later

You know... it’s not so much that I hate Naruhina and Sasusaku...
It’s more like I just really don’t get how anyone can really like these pairings?? Like I really just don’t understand the appeal???
Like did I really watch the same series as all you Naruhina and Sasusaku shippers????
Y’all: aaawww look at all of these Naruto and Hinata scenes, he clearly loves her sooo much <3 <3 <3🥰😍😌
Me: bitch where????😂😂😂
(Literally, I could make the exact same joke about Sasusaku)
Like, is it just me, or are these two ships literally just about the girls’ feelings???
I mean I’d be totally fine with these two couples, if they didn’t put this emphasis on the girls, and completely ignore the guys...
I mean ok - serious time now - can the Sasusaku shippers and Naruhina shippers show me any evidence from the anime (or manga if you’re a reader) of Naruto and Sasuke returning Hinata and Sakura’s feelings respectively???
Again, I want to reiterate that this is a genuine request, I’m not trying to poke fun with this one. I’m just genuinely curious as to what you guys can dig up. (But also, side note - please refrain from using the films or Boruto as I haven’t watched them yet. I honestly don’t think I’m even gonna watch Boruto, cause I’m not a big fan of like spin off series, so yeah...But anything from the 720 anime episodes, or any of the manga chapters is fine.)
Anyway, back to my point.
Relationships are about two or more people coming together because they recognise that they have romantic feelings towards each other.
Which is exactly why I, like I’ve said already, don’t understand how Naruhina and Sasusaku are supposed to work???
Like yeah, Sakura and Hinata both like/love Sasuke and Naruto.
But when have Sasuka and Naruto expressed that they like them back in that way???
I mean as a whole the show was never even about romance, sure there were hints at possible relationships throughout, but that was never the point of the show.
I mean I feel like this all harkens back to some points I’ve already seen made by other people, but like why is romance necessary in this situation???
.....siiiiiigh.....😒
Because what else are female characters for??? If not to fawn over the male character then really what are they for??? I mean it’s not like they’re meant to represent real life people just like the male characters right??? It’s not like they’re meant to actually have well fleshed out characters with goals that don’t revolve around getting the guy of their dreams to notice them right??? Nooo, of course not, don’t be ridiculous....
I am seriously just soooo done with this bullshit. Like I’ll be the first to admit that Hinata and Sakura are not my favourite characters, but I mean it’s not like that’s really their fault now is it??? I mean they honestly both had a lot of potential. Like, seriously, soooooo much potential. I’m being completely honest here, I was well and truly so disappointed by how these two girls’ character potential was squandered 😔😔😔
And all for the sake of fullfilling their ‘true’ purpose in the show....
And don’t even try to give me the excuse that because Naruto is a shounen anime aimed at a primarily male audience, female characters can’t be feutured as anything besides the love interst. Like what kind of shit is that - so guys can’t even enjoy female characters unless they’re lusting after the male characters they like to insert themselves into???? I mean if you really think that then you must really hate guys.
Like I’m sorry but that just makes men sound like shit. It makes them sound like they only view women as people who belong to them, and are only relevant when it comes to how they are connected to men.
Women are their own goddamm people!!! They don’t exist solely to appease men!!!
As I woman, I have had to put up with this shit for years, and I am so done with it. If guys get to have characters that represent them in almost every piece of media out there, then why don’t women get to have the same treatment??? We make up a whole half of the entire goddamn population!!!
Honeslty, a bitch is soooooo mad about this 😡😡😡(thag bitch being me of course)
And what I’m also super mad about is that these two relationships imply that the guys feelings are completely irrelevant. Like I’m sorry but no amount of Sakura liking/loving Sasuke makes it okay for her to end up with him - if he doesn’t feel anywhere near the same amount of love or appreciation for her. And the same can be applied to Hinata and Naruto.
This outcome also forces everyone to just completely ignore/forget the fact that Naruto and Sasuke are completely unready to be in a relationship with anyone.
Like, yeah I’m gonna admit here that I am indeed a Narusasu shipper, but I’ll also admit that I dead ass don’t think they’d even be ready for a relationship with each other.
I mean the war and everything else just completely messed them both up, so they would both probably need some time to heal. And knowing those two, it would most likely take quite a while before they’re anywhere near healed enough to date - let alone fucking marry - anyone.
And, also (so that I’m not accused of favouritism towards the boys) - what about Sakura and Himata and the shit that they themselves experienced??? I mean Hinata had to watch her cousin die in front of her - that’s gotta mess you up. And Sakura was a medic - there’s no imagining the shit she must have seen.
War messes people up for a long time, and bassed off of what I’ve heard of Boruto - the timeline implies that these two couples got married and had kids pretty soon after the war.
That. Does. Not. Add. Up. Sis!!!!!
Honestly, the series should have just had what I like to call an ‘open ending’. This is where pretty much everything is left (you guessed it) out in the open. By everything I mean like the final relationships and stuff like the minutiae of the story. Unless, your story is a romance story in which case the romance is the most important thing, but as we’ve established- this is not the case with Naruto.
If you don’t explicitly state that characters X and Y are married with 2.5 kids, everyone who would dislike that as an outcome is free to think that they didn’t.
Like seriously, the whole point of using the line “and they lived happily ever after”, is so that you can leave the ending open to the interpretation of the audience. That’s why I’ve never liked being told how they lived happily ever after.
Because, ultimately everyone has different ideas of what happy looks like.
Some people want to get married because that’s what would make them happy, and for some marriage would achieve the opposite. It’s the same case with having children. Or what job you wanna have.
I mean really, there is soooo many different ideas of what happy looks like.
So why limit yourself and more importantly your audience/readers????
I mean think about it like this. The purpose of a main character is basically to give us a point of view of the story through which we can be influenced. That’s why a lot of the time they don’t really have distinct personality traits - so that the reader can project their own onto them. That way the reader/audience member is able to immerse themselves in the story. We are allowed to image that the main character is us. That’s why we get angry when they do something we don’t like, our first thought is - “well, I wouldn’t have done that...”. So image how disconnected you would feel, from a character who makes a big decision that you don’t agree with. Like say, getting married, when you yourself can’t imagine yourself getting married??? Or say, getting married to someone who you yourself wouldn’t want to get married to???
I think that’s the real issues in case of Naruhina and Sasusake. The majority of us - who are clearly of sound minds - would not want to marry Hinata, Sakura, or even Naruto and Sasuke. Most likely because their characters often times feel like caricatures of people, instead of real life people. They feel somehow unfinished, and so we have a harder time seing the bigger picture, and how these big decisions they have made are supposed to make sense.
Okay, I feel like I’ve rambled enough. I leave you with this -
I don’t mean to offend anyone with this post, and so I hope I haven’t/didn’t/won’t. I’m truly just stating my opinion here. If you don’t agree with anything I’ve said here, please do let me know; I’ll always appreciate constructive criticism.
I will always love Naruto. But in order to truly love something you have to also recognise it as flawed. And this was simply me pointing out some of the things which I perceive as flaws of the show/manga.
Please, don’t think of this post, or any others which I might make in the future, as hate posts. As I’ve said, I do love the show/manga - but that doesn’t make me unwilling to crique it.
Alrighty, this is where I actually end the rant.
Thanks for coming y’all,
Love,
Danny

Translated to English:
Hello, I don’t know if somebody has already asked you this, but why did you choose NaruHina over other ships*? Like NaruSaku, where is more explicit that Naruto is in love with Sakura and that she is starting to return his feelings, or SasuNaru, where they have a bigger and more established bond?
Subsequent asks:
Do you believe that Naruto had a bond with Hinata? If so, how would you prove it?
Why is it difficult for people to understand that stating that Naruto cared about Hinata doesn't deny what he had with Team 7? Or why is it difficult for NH fans to accept that Naruto's first ties were to Team 7?
* As an aside, I feel the need to point out that the Spanish version of the first question used Google Translate so the term “ships” (derived from the word “relationships”, and used in fandom parlance to refer to fan preferred romantic relationships) is translated literally to Spanish, that is: “ships” = “boats” = “barcos”. The thing is, we Spanish speakers don’t use the term “ships” when referring to fan-preferred romantic relationships, and a proper equivalent term doesn’t really exist in Spanish (or at least, not as far as I know, you never know what neologisms will come from the Internet after all). So, we simply refer to them as “parejas” (that is “pairings” or “couples”).
That clarification aside, I stated before I was going to reply to these asks, so here we are. Very belated reply, but I spent most of October and November swamped with work and hadn’t had the time or energy to reply before, especially as I ended extending myself and essentially composed an essay.
So, without further ado, the reply is below the cut. I ended composing it in English as the subsequent asks came in English, so I presumed whoever send the questions was more proficient in that language. I put it below the cut for the benefit of whoever doesn’t want to read my shipping rants:
Regarding why I chose to ship NaruHina over other ships, to put it simply, I just found NaruHina’s dynamic and relationship far more endearing.
At the core, NH is a very tender love story: Two kids who suffer from being looked down and rejected (him by most of the village, her by most of her family), ultimately find mutual support and love on each other. Specifically, I found that the scenes both of them have together during the Chunin Exams arc carried a lot of emotional torque, and those scenes made me fall in love with the couple. Those scenes are also the ones that I would use to establish the bond between Naruto and Hinata, because yes, I do think they have a bond, and is a bond we see blossom as the manga progresses even if (admittedly) is not a bond that receives a lot of focus.
He starts as a snotty and troublemaking brat, the worst student in his class and the village pariah (and a pariah for reasons that are not his fault and were absolutely beyond his control). But in spite of all his mistakes, he never surrenders and persists on making reality his impossible dream, no matter what everyone else says. His courage and determination end catching the eye of this quiet, timid girl, who is rejected by her family due to her lack of strength. Her admiration for him inspires her to become braver and stronger, and in the process she adopts his nindo (“I’ll never go back on my word”). Ultimately, said admiration also ends blossoming into love.
At the third Chunin Exam, after seeing Neji trying to demolish Hinata’s confidence with cruel words (cruel words that ring far too close to home for him), Naruto cheers on her, which motivates her to confront her fears and battle Neji in spite of her cousin surpassing her in skills by far. Hinata’s courage and determination during the fight end impressing Naruto in spite of her defeat. Neji’s brutality also motivates him to avenge her honor (and with a blood vow, no less), as he feels kinship with her.
Before the fight with Neji at the quarter finals, Naruto feels down as his opponent is really strong and, in spite of all his training, he is not sure that he can actually defeat him. By chance he ends running into Hinata. She thanks him for cheering on her previously and muses that she is finally starting to change a little and likes herself more now. At her words of gratitude, Naruto drops the bravado and turns sincere with her, revealing that in spite of his boasting, he doesn’t think a “failure” like him who is always making mistakes can defeat a genius like Neji.
In response, Hinata proceeds to encourage him, stating that what she admires of him is not that he is perfect, but rather that in spite of making mistakes and failing he has the ability to rise and try again. She considers said ability true strength, hence why she considers him a very strong person, or a “proud failure” as she calls it (and incidentally, this is another detail that makes the ship endearing to me: Hinata is among the first few people who sees beyond Naruto’s flaws and realizes his true worth). Her words end cutting deep into Naruto (just the way he looks at her completely wide eyed shows how much she affects him) and help him to recover his determination. He leaves to face Neji but not before thanking her, stating that while at first he considered her a weird and plain girl, she is actually “a person [he] truly like[s]”.
Later during the fight, after Neji explains the tragedy of his past and the reason for his fatalist outlook on life and destiny, among his rebuttals of said outlook Naruto calls Neji out for his treatment of Hinata, pointing out that Hinata also suffered like him yet still was desperately trying to change her own fate (thus showing us that Naruto also understood Hinata’s plight). Finally, after the fight and Naruto’s victory, his first thoughts while basking on the audience ovations are (at least in the manga): “Where is Hinata? Did she saw that?” (Of course, Hinata is unconscious at this point due to her prior injuries acting up when she saw Neji injuring Naruto, but that’s a bit beside the point).
As you can see, in that entire sequence of events mentioned above is shown that they end forming a bond in their mutual understanding and support of each other, as well as in their shared nindo. It’s not a bond that receives a lot of focus later in the story, admittedly, but it’s still there and later developments in the manga don’t really negate it. Indeed, we end seeing a couple of actually significant story events that ultimately reinforce it.
I’m talking of course of Pain’s invasion of Konoha (when, while trying to save him from Pain, Hinata confesses her love to Naruto, explaining how he inspired her to change and become better, then Naruto goes straight to Six Tails in rage after watching her being injured by the villain) and the battle between the Shinobi Alliance versus the “Uchiha Sith Lords” and the Juubi (when, after seeing Neji die in battle while protecting him, Naruto is about to surrender to Obito’s rhetoric due to failing to protect his friends, yet Hinata stops him and encourages him again, helping him recover his fighting spirit while telling him that his feelings for his friends were not a lie and pleading him to not let Neji’s death be in vain). Both scenes also have a lot (and I mean, A LOT) of emotional torque, and reinforce the theme of mutual understanding and support that runs in the ship. On the whole, it’s a really positive bond, as it essentially drives both characters to uplift each other.
Now, while there is some of that NaruHina dynamic (“mutual understanding and support of each other”) in the other two ships that you mention (NaruSaku and SasuNaru), there are also things regarding their respective dynamics in the canon that make them… well, far too troubling for my personal taste.
In the case of Naruto and Sakura, their relationship dynamic (especially in the anime adaptation) resembles a lot the typical “Tsundere” dynamic that you see in a lot of manga and anime: A protagonist who has a crush or is in love with a girl with a bad temper, with said girl always punching him out every time he tries to woo her (or otherwise does something stupid or perverted in front of her), although she gradually warms up to him as time passes. I have to clarify that, strictly speaking, I’m not really against that kind of relationship dynamic in anime and manga (indeed, I like a few ships in other series that have that kind of dynamic). However, in the case of Naruto and Sakura, I find that dynamic pretty troubling, primarily due to Naruto’s backstory, hence why I never shipped them in a romantic sense (although I must add that I do like their relationship at a platonic level, as they do have a couple of pretty tender scenes together).
I might also clarify (pertaining to how you phrased your question) that while Sakura does warm up to Naruto as time passes and starts considering him a good friend, in the manga it’s never explicitly show at all that she starts to return his feelings. At most it’s only briefly implied during the early arcs of part II, but the “fake confession” scene during the Iron Country arc essentially throws the possibility by the wayside.
As to Naruto and Sasuke… well, first it’s important to recognize that the manga’s author never intended their relationship to be seen in a romantic way, but rather as a sibling-like relationship. Of course, that doesn’t negate that their bond is central to the storyline, neither that it receives a lot of focus for most of the manga and it also has scenes with a lot of emotional torque. All of that inevitably leads to shippers pairing them together in a romantic way, regardless of what the author’s intentions were.
That being said, while there is also a theme of mutual understanding in their bond of brotherhood and rivalry that also drives them to uplift each other, the problem is that… well, to put it bluntly, their relationship becomes extraordinarily toxic for a pretty big chunk of the story. I mean, seriously: For most of part II of the manga (and most of Shippuden in the anime), Sasuke becomes a massive cretin and jerkass that treats his loved ones (including Naruto) like garbage, causing them a lot of emotional pain and strife. Sasuke also tries to murder his closest friend in multiple occasions and Naruto literally has to give an arm in exchange before the Uchiha finally has a moral epiphany and decides to change his ways. Given Naruto’s backstory, once again I find that dynamic extremely troubling and distasteful, hence why I’m not fan of pairing them in a romantic way.
(I might probably also add that it’s because of the above paragraph why I’m not really fan of SasuSaku either. I have made my peace with that pairing mostly because Sarada is one of my favorite characters in Boruto).
As to your final question… well, I can’t speak for everyone in the fandom neither want to make any generalizations, but from what I have seen around online, it seems to mostly boil down to classic fandom rivalry.
Naruto ran for almost 15 years with the characters locked in a messy love dodecahedron that the author didn’t intend to resolve until the very last second. During that time the different fandom factions that formed around every ship obviously came to blows, with rivalries and grudges forming. The net result is that a lot of people in the fandom have become extremely hyper-defensive regarding their preferred ships, with some people often overstating the importance of certain bonds while simultaneously minimizing other bonds. You certainly see it happen in all the shipping fandoms: There are some NaruHina fans that minimize the importance of Team 7 bonds with Naruto, as well as some fans of ships involving members of Team 7 who take issue with the notion of Hinata also having a bond with Naruto.
It doesn’t help that some fans (usually very young ones) have a very… well, “immature” understanding of love and relationships: Falling in love with someone shouldn’t mean that suddenly all your other relationships become “lesser”. Thus, the fact that Naruto fell in love with Hinata in the canon of the series doesn’t mean that his bonds with his team mates, friends and teachers no longer matter. On contraire, all of them are important in different ways.
