Halloween! - Headcanon

Arcana Characters (Main 6, Courtiers, Nadia’s Family)

A/N: Does Halloween exist in the Arcana universe? I do not know, but Halloween is fun, so we’re doing it anyway! Please let me know if there are any spelling or grammar mistakes : ) requests are open!

Loves telling ghost stories, especially to the small children running around trick-or-treating

He’s careful not to scare the little ones too much, but he gets really into it, so they usually get a little freaked out anyway

🧡Portia🧡

Hands out the absolute best candy

Her little cottage is pretty out of the way, but any child who knows what’s good for them will make the journey anyway

Also the kind of person to offer the adult’s a hot drink if it’s a cold night out

💛Lucio💛

Getting absolutely hammered at Nadia’s party

Won’t remember anything the next day, but he assumes he was the life of the party

Honestly they put him in a room with a statue at some point and he spends the rest of the night explaining his life story to it

💚Muriel💚

He’s not a huge fan of Halloween

If his friends are going out, he’ll kind of trail behind them, but he’s not into dressing up

Takes the opportunity to visit some shops that don’t celebrate Halloween for some peace and quiet

💙Asra💙

Has the most elaborate costume, and spends weeks in advance preparing it

Not super into the scary part of Halloween, and instead spends most of it showing off some cool magic to the kids who come by

Also very generous with handing out candy it he stays home

Throwing a Halloween party

Mostly avoids talking and just enjoys the costumes and entertainment of the night

Also likes to tour around Vesuvia discretely in the nights before to check out all the decorations

Kids adore him since he gives them extra if he favours their costume

They’re also much better at restraining themself around smaller children

Very into costumes, and spends weeks in advance making costumes for her family

Also employs a lot of seamstresses to make an abundance of costumes for the children of less fortunate families, and hands them out a couple days in advance

Patrols the streets during trick-or-treating just in case

There’s not really a lot of danger, but she likes to be careful

She also loves to see the little girls who dress up as her and jump with joy when they get to actually meet her

She offers to run a temporary daycare for the tiny children who can’t go trick-or-treating so their parents can take the slightly older kids out

She employs a few other citizens and they set up a cute little Halloween area for the babies to play while they gossip and have fun in their own way

She’s honestly not a huge fan of Halloween, but it seems like a good time to go over to Nadia’s party and watch Lucio make a fool of himself

Spends most of her time watching people look like idiots, and makes mental notes about what she can hold over their heads later

Nasmira x Tasya lovechild

Well, a rarepair for sure but they'd definitely birth a blue eyed baby since that's a trait that they both share. And a very beautiful shade of blue when you combine their eyecolors.

Hair color on the other hand is nearly impossible to say. Green hair has to be even rarer than red hair certainly. Soo... perhaps the child would simply have some sort of red hair? Or it could be equally likely that the baby ends up with a strange shade of brown due to the combination of two very recessive traits. Who knows? These are fantasy genetics, people.

We, however, would know that the child's hair would be curly even if we aren't able to speculate on color. The character would be russian-indian growing up in the Mediterranean.

Here's the drab brown you get by blending their hair colors like paint. It kinda reminds me of the cat from the green cat post.

What does the arcana do when they’re caught making out with you?

The arcana x GN!Reader   

Synopsis: This won my most recent poll, so how do the main 6 in the arcana react to someone walking in on them kissing their partner?

Asra Alnazar:

He kisses you more passionately as to prove how much he loves you in front of people. He doesn’t even notice the other person for a solid minute.

If you’re conscious or embarrassed about it, he’ll happily stop. He might stop physically - but while he’s waiting for you guys to find a more private spot, he’s fantasizing about you. 

He’s completely guiltless about it as well. Doesn’t feel a tad of embarrassment or shame. Although he does blush a bit, but that’s because of his attraction to you. Not because of the situation.

The thing he might do however is politely excuse you both from the person who walked in on you. 

“O great magicians, the countess has requested an audience with you!” The chamberlain shouted, from outside your room. Displeased at your lack of response, the chamberlain shouts once more. “O great magicians, COME AT ONCE!” They sighed, shaking their head before shoving the door open. 

“ … Magicians?” 

You’re sat on Asra’s lap, facing him. The two of you are kissing passionately and there are several lipstick stains of your shade of lipstick going down his neck and around his face. He seems to be happy as ever, not even noticing the shouting from the chamberlain. 

“ .. MAGICIANS!” 

Asra rolls his eyes and looks over, breaking away from the kiss. Staring at the chamberlain, he says casually, “ .. oh, it’s you. Hello.” You slowly get off of Asra and wave awkwardly. He smiles, “ tell Nadi we’ll be there in five minutes.” Before the chamberlain can respond, Asra pulls you in again. Not caring at all for the poor chamberlain who’s stood in the doorway stunned and weirded out.

Nadia Satrinava:

Depending on who it is, she’s either only a little embarrassed or super embarrassed. There is no in-between.

If it’s a palace servant, she’ll simply blush a bit but quickly recollect herself and help with whatever task is in need of her attention. 

If it’s a friend or family member, she stutters awkwardly and is more or less unable to reply normally. She just stands there in silence but in her head she’s screaming. 

She’s not ashamed of you at all - she just wants to keep her private time private when it comes to servants, and with her family - she doesn’t tell them much and most likely didn’t tell them about your relationship yet if she wasn’t 100% sure you were the one.

Nasmira is watering the garden, one of her favorite parts of the vesuvian castle. She adores the little grass labyrinth behind the palace, and always tends to it when visiting her dear sister. She snipped off stray branches and leaves, and then crossed the corner to move ahead. 

She paused as she you and Nadia together, kissing. You have your hands running through Nadia’s long hair, and she’s rubbing circles onto your back while you both are immersed in each other. 

“DiDi?” Nasmira says, surprised to see you and Nadia.. Like that.

Nadia turns, and shrieks before covering her mouth. “Oh my! Mira, I– I–..” She immediately lets go off you and steps a foot or so away from you. “Why, I wasn’t expecting your company today..” She says, her face covered in a pinkish blush. 

“ .. Now I know why you talked so fondly of your magician friend.” Nasmira teases, smiling warmly at the both of you.

Julian Devorak:

He blushes slightly, but doesn’t really care. He’s happy when he’s around you, and not much could possibly sour his mood whenever you’re around. 

Is very polite about it. He’ll stop kissing you and focus his energy on the other person, but will still want to be showing you appreciation by having an arm wrapped around your waist, or holding your hand.

He doesn’t feel the need to keep going as soon as the person leaves, but he will if that’s what you want. He’ll do whatever you want <3

Julian peppered your face in kisses, sat in the living room of Mazelinka’s house. He moved over to your lips, kissing you passionately and planting his hands on your torso and waist. He felt as if he were on cloud 9, so infatuated with you and all of your quirks and kinks.

A figure came back through from the kitchen, carrying a large bowl of soup and staring impatiently back at the two of you.

“ oh ho ho, Am I interrupting something?” Mazelinka said with a smirk. Shaking her head at the display of love you two were undergoing in her living room. 

Julian moves his head back, stopping the kiss. His hands still lingered on your body, but he turned over to look at the older woman. “No, not at all. We were..” He cleared his throat. “ .. just being in each others’ presence.” 

“ Oh no, continue. I could use more grandchildren, it’s been a while since I’ve had some children to look after. But just not here – I’m trying to eat.” She sipped at her soup, staring at the two of you and then at the door. “ GO! I’ll only be alive for so many more years, you two could stand to speed up the process a bit..” 

He just laughed and smiled, interlocking his fingers with yours. 

Muriel the outsider:

Is the most embarrassed out of everyone else on the list. He’s blushing furiously and goes extremely quiet and timid.

He’s already nervous in front of people - he definitely doesn’t need this extra attention! Poor guy covers his mouth with his hands, as if to conceal the fact that you’ve just been kissing. 

He lets you smooth it over - he couldn’t handle talking to anyone else but you after that embarrassing incident! He’s completely and utterly horrified to say the least.

Just sort of stares at the person. To any normal person, it’d look like he was glaring to high hell but to him he’s just afraid of having to deal with it.

After a long day, Muriel  couldn’t have thought of anything better than to go home with you and have a ‘loving’ session. You two were on top of the rug in front of the fire at his hut, he was kissing your neck and shoulder. He felt so loved and appreciated.

The keylock jingled, and Asra walked through. 

“Muriellll~!” He said in a sing-song voice. “I can’t find [Name], have you seen the–... oh.”

Muriel stares at him blankly. A mix of shock and shame washing over him at once. You smile, and stand up to go hug and greet Asra. He covers his face with his left hand, his eyes never leave the floor as he can feel himself go beetroot red. He can’t help it, he’s just so confused on why he didn’t hear Asra come in and why he didn’t spare himself this situation.

Lucio Morgasson: 

Isn’t embarrassed at all. If anything, he’s angry. He thinks the person has a lot of nerve bothering him while he’s trying to enjoy his private time with his lover, how foolish of them. 

He probably either insults them or shouts at them, to which you have to tell him not to and that it’s totally fine.

If the other person is grossed out, you’re probably the one smoothing the  situation over entirely. 

His logic is ‘ I’m count and I say the shit I want.’ So he feels no remorse for shotuing at the other person either.

Lucio’s eyes traced the outline of your body with a feverish grin. He couldn’t stop himself from grabbing you by the arms and going in for a deep and long kiss. Neither one of you breaks until you’re both almost out of breath, in which you give it a minute before going back to it. 

A servant whips past the two of you, accidentally splitting you apart. The poor servant doesn’t even notice as they hurry past you and start scrubbing a spill from earlier. Lucio looks down at them in silent outrage. 

“ Do you know who I am? It is I, your very count! How dare you interrupt my private time!” He yells, the servant looks up nervously. 

“ oh, my lord! I’m so sorry my lord, please I didn’t mean it!”  they beg. 

Lucio spits at them, “ – leave my sight, please.” He shakes his head as they scamper off in fear. “ Get lost! You’re fortunate I don’t fire you!” All you can do is give them an empathetic look before tangling yourself once more with your lover.

Random question; do you or anyone else who reads this have a good way of identifying the Satrinava family by name? Ik they're rainbow color-coded & all that but they also all have N names & I'm the absolute worst when it comes to names & the only one I can recognize Natiqa help immediately is

When did they change artists? I had no idea that happened :0 is there any noticeable difference in the drawings since then to you, like how some people can tell apart different Pokemon artists?

TL;DR: The main stylistic difference between the two main artists, Dana Rune and Gabriella Rosetti, is that Dana Rune's style is very angled and asymmetric. She uses a lot of sharp, varied shapes, while Gabriella Rosetti's style is slightly more rounded and even. Veronica Liwski is most similar to Dana Rune's, but with more detailed and shiny rendering

Detailed thoughts on each artist and my attempt to sort the CGs

Top Group: Unsure artist. The way Muriel is drawn leans more towards how Gabriella Rosetti draws him, with slightly more texture and less defined rendering in the hair. However, there's a slight discomfort in drawing Muriel's squarish face and nose (I relate) and a change in rendering style that suggests a separate artist was involved.

2nd Group: Dana Rune, the original artist and art director for most of the game. She designed all the main LIs, Morga, Vlastomil, etc. She mostly drew Julian and Asra's CGs, along with some of Nadia's and a few of Muriel's. She draw characters with sharp features and loose, detailed hair. Her rendering focuses on bright colours and stark lighting, and her lineart has a lot of weight variation. As art director and creator of the style, she still had a lot of influence on the other illustrations, presumably redlining and giving advice on how to draw her characters.

(Note: Dana Rune designed a lot of the characters alongside another original creator, Nikolai Ladizinsky. Their art style is very distinct from Dana's so I'm pretty sure they didn't do any in-game art, but they still had an influence on the style and aesthetic)

3rd Group: Gabriella Rosetti, the current main artist and art director. They designed most of the courtiers, the Satrinava and Alnzar families, Arcana, and many of the later outfits and characters. They drew all of Portia and Lucio's CGs, along with some of Nadia and Asra's. Their art style is softer, with a more natural edge than Dana's, primarily seen in how they draw hair. Their lighting is less saturated, featuring more daylight scenes with neutral tones.

4th Group: Veronica Liwski, an additional artist who designed Natiqa, assisted with Nasmira, as well as some CGs for Asra, Julian, and Nadia. They also drew some backgrounds. Their art is incredibly detailed and focused on rendering. There's a lot of shine to textures and a focus on detailed hair and clothing. Their lighting is a bit more complex and painted than the other artists. Their art is angular, similar to Dana Rune's, though with a bit more natural weight to the figures.

5th Group: Also unsure, but with even less of a guess. These don't appear in portfolios or have a lot of the distinct traits of specific artists. The original ending CGs for Asra, and the Upright CGs for Nadia and Julian have a more painted texture to the rendering style. Asra's Reversed especially has very different colouring to create its atmosphere. I'd guess they were Gabriella Rosetti's, but the Portia CG has a change in rendering more similar to the sprite style. Gabriella Rosetti tends to draw the faces with more detail.

- Interacting with the Satrinavias through Nadia - While intimidated by Nasrin and Namar, Lua enjoys showing off for them (shapeshifting and other magic) as they are always an appreciative audience.  They find Nafizah inscrutable but pleasant.  They look up to Nazali, and enjoy interacting with them.  They share the same patron with Navra in very different ways, and mesh well with her for it.  Nahara can be a bit much for them, but they appreciate that she is direct and straightforward.  You would have to be a very hard person to not get along with Nasmira, and Lua is easily charmed by her kindness.  The only Satrinava they don’t mesh well with is Natiqua, who’s politics and pranks don’t really suit them, but they aren’t upset in dealing with her, simply professional and a bit distant.

- Mazelinka, Lua, and Aleis get along like a house aflame, much to both Portia and Julian’s concerns - they cook, sail, and talk shop merrily together, and it puts the Devoraks on edge knowing their guardian figure gets along that well with each of their lovers.

- Morga drifts around the fringes of their life - Aleis has more to do with her than Lua does.  Lua finds her intimidating but does want her approval.

- Lua generally gets on well with other characters, though dose not have immensely personal relationships with them.

Other OCs:

- Lua and Aleis both interact with Evander, having met and started their friendship with him over Lua’s creations and later developing his mechanical crab chair.  It’s a bigger project than Lua would usually take on, but together they and Aleis did some of their best work so far with it.  While Aleis and Lua aren’t frequent attendees of his parties, they do come from time to time, usually showing of their shape-shifting or other magic.

- Mr. Rordriguez, owner of the Prismatic Rod, is a friendly rival in the Vesuvian Dildo Races, although the two of them technically compete in different classes.

- Turel is somewhere in the background of their lives, they do know him, and perhaps as they age, they may seek him out more deliberately.  Something weird going on with both Lua and Aleis between their magic, abilities, and histories.

Imagine like MC and the whole Satrinava family (including Nadia obv) having some tea in the afternoon talking about anything and out of nowhere MC literally said like “oh so basically I'm dead 3 years ago but my friend bought me back to life” and the whole Satrinava are like “haha what😃”

What would the Satrinava react?

Yeah, requests are still open, even though I have like 50 of them sitting in my inbox. I will do most of them. Eventually. Very slowly. I may or may not feel extremely burnt out, but sometimes a new request can spark something inside me, and I do it as soon as I see it.

Satrinava family's reaction to finding out that MC died and came back to life

Namar and Nazali immediately want to know everything. Namar would be so amazed and ask for every little detail. As a doctor, Nazali would like to know how the hell that is even possible, but they also find it pretty cool.

Nasrin somehow finds it both impressive and alarming? That's some skilled magician stuff, but this also means that her daughter is dating someone who died and came back to life.

Nafizah already knew it. She just did. That turtle on her head told her.

Navra wants to know about the spiritual aspects. What is it like to die? What happens after death? So many questions.

Nahara would be quite skeptical, and for a good reason, because what if this MC is just some kind of impostor? She would become a little more careful around MC for a while. Just to make sure.

Nasmira would be the sweetest. She'd be concerned about the things MC felt and how certain events, such as their death, their amnesia, and finding out how they died, have affected their mental health. She'd be more than happy to listen to MC pour their heart out.

Natiqa thinks it's cool and asks if this could be used to create a zombie army. She also makes some jokes about it.

There will be a "We're glad you're not dead anymore" party.
