Dan didn’t have any friends in Rome. Sometimes, Jenny took a train from London on weekends and visited him, but so far, Dan hadn’t really talked to many people here. It was only about four-thirty at home, so he wouldn’t be surprised by a text from his dad or Vanessa, but it wasn’t either of them.

According to the caller ID, it was Nate. Dan wasn’t sure when he set a contact picture of him, but he had a feeling Nate did it himself when he last had his hands on Dan’s phone. It was a blurry picture from some club in the Hamptons. Nate was sunburnt from the beach and squinting into the flash with his sunglasses pushed up into his hair, a shot of tequila raised in one hand.

Dan hadn’t heard from him since before he left, but they didn’t leave on bad terms. Not really. Nate was busy. The Spectator was taking up all of his time due to his frenzy to keep it out of hot water, so it wasn’t exactly surprising that he’d gone off the grid for a while.

Against his better judgment, Dan answered his call.

Nate Archibald x fem! reader (NAMED)

Charlotte was having a pretty awesome day, just having landed in her summer house in the Hamptons, she had a few hopes that she wanted to complete, including having Nate Archibald as her boyfriend. She got off the helicopter and was escorted to her room, flopping down on her soft bed she sighed dreaming of finally meeting her old friends and that one guy she had liked through 4 boyfriends and two years straight. Her phone buzzed with a text from Blair, ‘Hey! Did you reach yet? The party starts soon. Get here soon!’ She responded with ‘yeah! just landed right now I’ll be there in 15!’ Charlotte walked towards her closet and looked through her choices, finally deciding on a white satin dress with long bell leaves and crossed around the neck.

She put her hair in a fancy ponytail and put on a fair amount of mascara and lip gloss. Charlotte looked in the mirror and smiled, walking out of the room she grabbed a pair of white Steve Madden boots and walked towards her white Corvette, sitting in it and driving off towards the party venue. She reached n about 20 minutes, Charlotte looked around for familiar faces, especially the one of Nathaniel Archibald. And when she finally did spot him......he was passionately kissing one of her good friends, Serena Van der Woodsen.

Charlotte stared at the couple with a gobsmacked expression, ‘Astonishing isn’t it?’ Charlotte turned around facing a smirking Charles, a.k.a. Chuck Bass standing behind her, ‘Chuck!’ she exclaimed, plastering a smile on her face and pulling the taller man in for a tight hug. Pulling away she smiled tightly, ‘It’s been so long! How are you?’, Chuck sighed, ‘I have been better, to be honest...’ he grabbed a bottle of champagne from the table beside them, ‘Care for a drink?’. Charlotte smiled, ‘You know I don’t...’ And that’s when the hurricane called Blair Waldorf made its debut.

Charlotte!’ Blair squealed, hugging her tightly, ‘You look gorgeous!’ She said. Charlotte grinned, ‘As do you!’. Blair finally noticed Chuck and looked at him in disgust, turning her attention back to Charlotte she smiled again, ‘How about we meet my new Boyfriend?’, ‘Oh! I would love to!’ Charlotte said, turning towards Chuck, ‘You coming?’. He smiled, ‘I’d rather not.’ She looked confused, her gaze travelling from Blair to Chuck ‘Oookkkk?’. Blair animatedly started to talk about what she had missed, pulling Charlotte‘s hand towards Marcus. Chuck sighed, staring at the bottle of champagne in his hand.

Stopping suddenly, Charlotte’s eyes fell on Blair’s Boyfriend, ‘Charlotte, Marcus, Marcus Charlotte!’ She introduced them, and Charlotte politely smiled at the couple, ‘Nice to meet you!’ She exclaimed, shaking his hand. Blair kissed Marcus, ‘Isn’t he gorgeous?’ She asked clutching his arm, ‘Also! He’s a lord!’ She said smiling even wider. Charlotte nodded, ‘Wait really? That’s awesome Blair!’. Her gaze travelled to Serena and Nate, now looking into each other’s eyes with love sick smiles. Charlotte felt tears starting to flood in her eyes, she muttered ‘I’m going to get a vitamin water’ and rushed away wiping the tears from her eyes.

‘Shit! I’m so sorry!’ Charlotte looked up upon hearing the voice who had just bumped into her, she stood up, ‘Oh, it’s no problem! It was kind of my fault! I wasn’t really looking at where I was headed…’ The man smiled at her, ‘No, I’m pretty sure it was mine,’ He said, ‘I’m Dan -Dan Humphrey, speaking of, I haven’t really seen you here before, I’m kinda of proud to say that even though I hate these snobby people- I know each and every one of them.’ He proudly said, putting a faint smile on Charlotte’s face, ‘Wait-‘ his smile dropped, ‘Unless- are the daughter of one of these snobby rich people?’ She laughed looking at his white face, ‘No- no! I’m an old friend of Blair, Serena, Chuck and Nate’ her voice trembled while saying his name. Dan looked relieved, ‘Oh! Well I am-was Serena’s Boyfriend.’ Then he muttered under his breath, ‘I had come to win her back, until I saw her lip-locking with the blonde beauty.’ Charlotte sadly smiled, ‘Yeah- no I understand what you’re going through, I have liked Nate for 2 years straight.’ Dan looked surprised, ‘Really?, well it was kind of a shock to too them together and kissing to be honest.’ He remarked.

‘Dan? Charlotte?, What are you guys doing here and together?’ Serena walked up behind Dan, holding her dress up and looking completely puzzled. ‘Serena! It totally worked! Catherine just told me to meet her in the…’ Nate cheerfully started saying not noticing Charlotte and Dan staring at them open-mouthed, ‘Charlotte?’ And that’s when he noticed her, a look of confusion and surprise in his blue orbs.

Date + 49: kiss out of necessity. (slight au where everyone is gay and the points don't matter)

Dan’s just managed to escape a tedious conversation for the bar when Nate barrels into in him a panic. Or least, as panicked as Nate ever appears. A lifetime of blue blood family politics, a childhood with Serena and Blair, and a blazed adolescence has rendered Nate pretty unflappable. 

“Hey,” Nate says furtively. “Have you seen Serena?”

“Not for a while,” Dan glances around the room of the reception Serena had conned him into attending. “But Vanessa got out of rehearsal early, so she probably bailed.” 

“Damn it,” Nate mutters, signaling the bartender to pour another of whatever’s in Dan’s hand.

“What’s going on?” Dan watches confused as Nate knocks back the Manhattan the bartender hands him in one go. 

“Ethan is here,” Nate says, as if the fate of the universe depends on this information. 

Except Dan has no clue who that is. 

“Ethan,” Nate repeats, “my ex.”

Dan tilts his head to the side, still at a loss. He doesn’t really keep track of Nate’s friends at Columbia, even less who Nate dates at Columbia. Self-preservation and all that. 

“Seriously? I told you about him. Steak Knives?”

“Oh,” it clicks, “yeah. You dated for a month and then he wanted to move in together –”

Nate nods wearily. “And when I said ‘no,’ he –”

Dan does a half-hearted performance of the Psycho theme, moving his hand in a stabbing motion.

“Yeah,” Nate sighs. “Serena’s always good at chasing off an ex. Or Blair, but neither of them are here.”

“Aw,” Dan grins, “he’s your Georgina.” 

Nate thumps him on the arm. “Asshole. But – yeah.” He glances around the room, then freezes, “Shit, he’s seen me. Do you think Carl over there would let me hide behind the bar?” 

Dan tries to spot Ethan, a useless exercise because Dan doesn’t actually know what the guy looks like, but then he gets an idea. An arguably bad one, but he doesn’t have anything else. 

“Do you trust me?” he asks Nate abruptly, hoping Nate understands what he means. 

Nate meets his eyes for one frenetic second, before dropping his gaze to Dan’s lips. “Yeah.”

Before Dan can chicken or reason himself out of it, he takes Nate’s face in his hands and kisses him. Nate stiffens for a second, taken by surprise, but then he starts to kiss Dan back, parting his lips. Nate’s arms circle his waist, palms pressing into his back, and Dan stumbles into him, deepening the kiss, and for minute he forgets what they were doing, or why they’re doing it. He sweeps his tongue over Nate’s lower lip, noise slipping from his throat, or was that sound from Nate?

Nate pulls away abruptly, face redder than it was before, his chest heaving. Over the years, Dan’s built up a sort of immunity to the Archibald hotness, except for now, when it hits him all over again how beautiful Nate is. 

Oh, he is in so much trouble.
