⊱ ─────.⋅♚ *。・゚.★. *。・゚✫*.
You and Nathan had been best friends for as long as you could remember.
When he punched a guy twice his size all because they made you cry on your first day at the orphanage, he quickly gained your trust and loyalty. It was reciprocated when you dumped all your lunch on a kid when they poked fun about why his brother left him.
You two had been inseparable ever since.
Nathan was protective of you, and you were protective of him.
As years passed, that protectiveness only grew tenfold. With it came the care and affection that went from strictly platonic to something warmer, sweeter.
For you, at least.
You couldn't pinpoint when it started, all you knew was that everything Nathan did for you suddenly felt special—like it was solely for you.
The change wasn't outright. It was a slow realization, when the little things he did made your heart grow warmer and beat faster all the same.
At first, you thought it was a simple crush—a silly phase, that with time, it would fade.
But no.
As months moved to years, it went from something that lingered to something you couldn't escape from.
The moment you truly figured that what you felt about him wasn't as simple as an adoration for your best friend was on your eighteenth birthday.
Nathan had spent all the money he saved from working odd—and honest, he made sure to make that known—jobs on a silver necklace.
Maybe you watched way too many romcoms, maybe it was all in your rose-tinted head, but there was an underlying romance in the way he stood behind you, so close and warm, as he put the necklace on for you.
With bated breath, you let him, trying your best not to melt over his simple touch. His fingertips brushed against your skin so delicately but felt electric in all the right ways.
You only regained your breathing when he finally stepped back. Yet he took it away a moment later when he gently tapped the charm—shaped like a compass—sitting between your collarbone, a fond smile on his lips when he said,
"So you'll always find your way back to me."
How could you not fall in love?
What a cliché.
Falling in love with your childhood best friend.
It would've been cute if it was reciprocated.
But whatever he saw you as was strictly platonic.
You were constantly reminded of how unrequited your love was with the hook-ups he brought back to the apartment.
You had agreed to be his roommate to help lessen the expenses. Even though you had only recently moved in together, you were starting to doubt if it was a good idea—for your heart's sake, anyway.
It didn't even stop there.
Because here you were once again, sporting an ache in your chest as you watched him flirt with a blonde girl at the bar.
As much as you enjoyed visiting him at work, seeing him flirt with the pretty customers regularly will always leave a bad taste in your mouth.
Jealousy.
A feeling you shouldn't be entertaining in the first place. You were just a best friend. You had no right to go all green-eyed whenever you saw him with another girl.
Nathan Drake wasn't yours.
You didn't even realize that you were too deep into your thoughts until a familiar voice brought you out of it.
"You okay?"
You blinked, looking up to see Nathan regarding you with brows furrowed in concern.
"Huh?"
"You've been glaring at that thing for a good minute now," he explained, nodding at the personalized cocktail he made for you.
He always did that whenever you stopped by, experimenting with new mixes he thought you'd enjoy solely based on how well he knew you. You give him your honest feedback in return. It was your own little game.
"Is it bad?"
"No, no, no," you said, taking a sip before smiling. "I liked it."
"Just 'like', damn. I need to step up my game," he sighed in feigned disappointment. When you didn't react as much, he added, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
Nathan looked at you for a moment, lips pursed as he shook his head.
"You're such a bad liar."
"I'm not," you scoffed, playfully rolling your eyes. "You just know me so well."
"I do," he hummed, grin turning proud. "I also know when something's bothering you so, what's up?"
"Girl things." You shrugged, trying to seem nonchalant. You could tell it confused him, because he was never uncomfortable to talk about those topics with you. But before he could even question it, you quickly added, "I think I'm going to head home first. You didn't forget your keys, right?"
"That was one time," he grumbled, eyeing you for a moment because he obviously didn't buy your excuse. A second later, he sighed, "Yeah, I got my keys."
"Okay, See you later," you said, gathering up your things before walking towards the door.
"Let me know if you get home safe," he called out.
You only threw him a salute in response.

It was the harsh light from the huge window in the living room that woke you up.
You must have fallen asleep on the couch in the middle of watching your comfort movie—a poor attempt at trying to distract yourself from your lovelorn predicament.
Who knew dealing with feelings could be so exhausting?
It was the smell of bacon that coaxed you out of your cocoon, though.
"Good morning, sleepyhead," Nathan greeted as soon as you stepped into the kitchen. He threw you a warm smile over his shoulder before he continued making breakfast—shirtless, might you add. "There are painkillers beside your water in case your neck is killing you. I would've carried you back to your bed but you kick in your sleep and I've learned my lesson so…"
It did happen once.
He was trying to coax you off the couch and back into the comfort of your bed. But as he got closer, your leg having a mind of its own when you were deeply asleep, you kicked him straight in his jewels—his words, not yours.
The loud thud of him falling on the floor didn't even shake you awake, not even when he was groaning in pain.
You couldn't even remember any of it.
"How many times do I have to apologize for you to let that go?" you chuckled, settling at your usual seat at the small dining table you had.
"Not enough," he snorted. "I still feel the phantom of the kick, you know."
"You're so dramatic." You rolled your eyes, glancing around only to catch a glimpse of that old yet familiar green trunk. It was then you noticed some of his old stuff littered around, trinkets and memorabilia he hadn't looked at in a while. Just as you were about to question him about it, you saw the excited look on his face. You narrowed your eyes, asking, "Did I miss something?"
"Quite a lot, actually," he chuckled, sauntering over to you with your breakfast for the day. Putting the full plate in front of you, Nathan leaned down and quickly kissed your forehead. "Eat. I'll tell you all about it."
You ignored the phantom of his lips on your skin.
-:-:-:-:-:-:-
A treasure hunt.
Nathan dragged you into a treasure hunt.
You didn't trust this Victor Sullivan guy, but Nate seemed to be adamant about finding this gold in hopes of finding Sam too. And you trust your best friend's judgment so that made Sully a friend of your best friend, much to your dismay.
"Do I look okay?" you asked, straightening out your long, black evening gown as you emerged out of the makeshift changing room.
When you didn't hear an answer, you looked up to see Nathan staring at you with a certain look in his eyes.
Your face warmed. "What?"
"Okay?" he scoffed, shaking his head as if he was offended by the word you used. With a gentle smile, he gestured at you with both hands. "You look beautiful."
"Thanks. You don't look bad yourself," you responded with a shy smile, unable to hold his gaze for much longer. You fixed your entangled necklace, instead.
"Here, let me," he said, quickly walking over to you to straighten it out, his touch featherlight against your skin. "It's a gorgeous necklace. The guy who gave this to you has good taste."
"If good taste means licking his own ass, then, it's a bit questionable."
"Okay, gross," he playfully grimaced. "All I'm saying is that I picked the right one for you."
"You did." You smiled fondly.
"Perfect," he hummed with a smile, his gaze slowly trailing from your necklace up to your eyes, his next words barely even a whisper. "You're perfect."
You didn't know if it was even meant for your ears but you could only stand there, staring into his brown eyes that seemed to shift from one emotion to another.
Nathan was about to say something when Sully came out of nowhere with that grumpy look on his face.
"Why are we bringing her again?" he asked as if you weren't standing in front of him.
"She's a genius with computers," Nathan said, a bite in his tone. "She's going to help us get through any security tech easy breezy."
Sully narrowed his eyes between you two before shrugging.
"Fine," he grumbled, looking you up and down before walking away. "We leave in ten minutes."
"I don't think he likes me very much," you sighed once the door shut.
"I don't think he likes anyone," Nathan said, smiling at you reassuringly. "Don't take it personally."
And you didn't. Truly.
But when you got to the auction house, it definitely felt more personal when the old man wouldn't tell you anything.
No communication. No updates. No information. Nothing.
Only when you ask Nathan directly were you able to get a grasp of what was going on or when to proceed to the next step—if he wasn't distracted.
With the countless pretty ladies dressed to the nines, you best believe he wasn't anywhere near focused.
You were angry because this was a dire situation. One wrong move could get you guys caught. You were too goddamn young for prison.
You definitely weren't bitter over something else.
"Do you always feel the need to flirt with anything that walks?" you spat when he finally reached the door you'd been trying so hard to keep open without getting caught. It took him three minutes more since he was busy chatting up some random trust fund girl.
"I wasn't—Jesus," he grunted, the door hitting him on the way as you walked past it.
You couldn't be bothered to wait anymore. You didn't look back and simply sped walk towards the power switch.
"You're upset," Nathan said once he caught up with you.
"I'm not upset," you grumbled. "I'm annoyed."
"It's the same thing."
"It's fucking not."
"Okay, geez," he conceded, pouting, "What'd I do?"
"What aren't you doing?" you asked sarcastically, harshly tapping on your phone as you tried to decode the security lock on the main switch. "Oh right, focusing on your job!"
"Christ, do you two always bicker like an old married couple?"
"Shut up!" you and Nathan barked synchronously.
Shaking your head, you calmed yourself, punching in the security code.
"Look, I'm sorry, alright? I was just trying to scope potential—"
You glared at him.
"I'm shutting up."
"Just do your thing. I want this over and done with," you grumbled, stepping aside once the circuit box finally opened.
"You're a genius," he praised with a smile, placing a quick kiss on your forehead. "Thank you."
"Whatever."
You wished you could say everything went smooth sailing from there, but when did it ever?
Everything happened so fast.
One minute you two were walking out of the control room, the next you were being chased down but huge men.
Running in heels was not fun.
And then it was a blur, someone grabbing your arm in a way that made you scream in pain to Nathan tackling the guy to the ground, landing blow after blow to his face until blood started to splatter on the suit he was wearing.
"Touch her again and I'll kill you."
You'd never seen him so angry before.
But that anger quickly disappeared when he fussed over you, hands soft against your cheeks yet the panic and worry were evident in his eyes.
It took several 'I'm fine's and a couple more reassurances that you weren't badly hurt to get him to fully calm down and help you up so you could get out of this place.
Unbeknownst to you, there were curious eyes watching everything closely with a knowing yet wicked smile on her lips.
-:-:-:-:-:-:-
You thought the feeling of being outcasted was only a small blip at the auction house.
But you were so wrong.
"What happened to you?" you asked when he finally met up with you at the church in Barcelona, soaking wet from head to toe.
"Long story."
"So you brought your girlfriend with you" A girl—Chloe, you later learned—suddenly appeared.
"She's not my girlfriend," Nathan quickly corrected.
Yes, it was true.
But the way he shut it down so quickly as if the thought made him hurl made the sting harsher.
It didn't take long for you to notice how Nathan seemed to be following Chloe around a lot.
So much so that you were becoming more of an afterthought.
They were always conspiring amongst themselves. It was in their line of expertise, you supposed, and you were just the tech girl. But it wasn't like you were clueless about it. Nate has told you enough stories for you to get the gist of what was going on.
It was getting pathetic, trailing behind them like some puppy, wanting to feel included.
When Nathan argued with Sully that you were not leaving his side when it was time to split up, you could only laugh at it now.
What was the point when you were immediately alone when you got into the tunnels?
Even more as you stood by yourself at the club, watching him dance with Chloe, so close, in the guise of blending in.
Maybe if you weren't distracted you would've noticed the man sneaking up behind you. You would've been able to run before he could grab you from behind, hand over your mouth as he started dragging you backward. And maybe you were quite good at kicking someone's jewels when you hit the jackpot the first time, enabling you to escape and scream for help.
You were yelling Nathan's name, but it was the loud gunshot that caught his attention.
It was heartbreaking to think that it took you getting shot in the leg for him to fully acknowledge you.
You were overwhelmed with too many emotions that you became numb, simply letting them take you back to the safe house in silence.
"I'm sorry," he whispered as he sat by your temporary bed, carefully wrapping the bandage on your thigh after he cleaned it. Thankfully, the bullet was only meant to slow you down, not kill. "I'm supposed to be looking out for you."
"It's fine," you sighed. You knew he was being sincere. He looked thoroughly distraught when he saw you drop to the ground. You knew it wasn't his fault, and you knew he was already blaming himself enough. But with the pain and bitterness—both physically and emotionally—you couldn't stop it. "You were busy. I get it."
He frowned. "What's with that tone?"
"There's no tone," you grumbled, avoiding his gaze.
"You're annoyed."
You shook your head. "I'm not annoyed.'
"So…you're upset," he hummed, reaching for your hands. You pulled away, carefully getting comfortable on the bed.
"I'm going to sleep," you sighed, pulling the covers over you.
Nathan got the hint, standing from his seat with a sigh, "Okay, goodnight, just…call me if you need anything."
So when you woke up in the middle of the night when a sudden sting went up your leg, you quickly yet carefully got out of bed to look for him.
You wish you hadn't bothered.
The last thing you wanted to see was him and Chloe getting cozy on the balcony, a bottle of wine between them.
You figured you weren't important enough to interrupt their moment. Besides, the ache in your leg couldn't compare to the absolute pain in your heart. It only intensified when they started leaning toward each other.
So you quickly went back to bed, tainting the pillowcase with salted tears.
-:-:-:-:-:-:-
"Here." Nathan kneeled in front of the foot of the bed, tying your shoelaces for you. "So, I've been thinking…"
"Uh oh," you joked.
"Maybe you should sit this one out."
Your smile quickly got wiped off your face.
"What?"
Nathan glanced at the door. You followed his gaze, catching a glimpse of Chloe before she hurriedly walked away.
You pressed your lips, nodding in understanding.
"It's not what you think it is," Nathan placated.
"Sure it's not," you scoffed.
"Look, you're injured and—"
You stood up, abruptly cutting him off. You grabbed your bag, limping around the room as you gathered your stuff.
"Woah careful, your wound is still fresh," Nathan followed you around, arms out in case you stumbled. "What are you doing?"
"Leaving. That's what you wanted, right?"
"What? No!" he rushed, hands on your shoulder, stopping you. "What I meant was, you need to recover first."
"Right," you scoffed, shrugging him off before you continued packing. "Because  it's going to be dangerous and you're looking out for me, trying to protect me and all that bullshit."
"It's not bullshit!"
"You know, after all we've been through, I thought I could count on you to at least be honest with me," you said bitterly.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means," you pressed, harshly zipping up your bag. "If you wanted me out of the picture, you could've just said so."
Shaking his head, he argued, "That's not it."
"Maybe," you said, looking him straight in the eyes. "But fewer people, more gold to go around, right?"
That rendered him silent.
"You've known me your whole life," he started, hurt flickering in his irises. "You really think I'd do that to you?"
"I don't know anymore, Nate." You threw your hands up exasperatedly. "Because ever since you met them, I barely recognize you anymore. You've been wanting their approval so bad you're getting desperate for it.
"And I always thought that when we get the chance to find this treasure, we'll do it together, side by side like we always do. But all I've done this whole time is be a third wheel to whatever this is." You gestured at him and the door, laughing sarcastically. "Fourth, if you include Sully."
"That's not true," he argued weakly, realization dawning on his face.
"You whisper among yourselves, nobody tells me a fucking thing, you don't even tell me anything anymore! I'm always left chasing after you because you couldn't be bothered waiting for me to catch up. Fine, I might not know everything about this treasure but it'd be nice to get filled in every once in a while instead of leaving me clueless! Hell, you're starting to forget you brought your best friend with you—"
"I didn't forget about you—"
"You didn't even notice I was getting dragged away until I was shot!"
Nathan looked away.
"All of you are always excluding me and it sucks," your voice cracked, blinking away unshed tears. "And don't think I didn't see you conspiring with Chloe last night."
He looked confused. "Last night?"
"When I came looking for my best friend for help because my leg was hurting like a bitch but I didn't want to be a cockblock so, you're welcome."
"You're not—" Nathan cleared his throat, shoulders slumping, looking at you apologetically. "Y/N…"
You shook your head, harshly wiping at your eyes, putting your jacket on. "The more it goes on, the more I think that you just brought me along because it was convenient for you. Now that I'm considered a liability, gotta leave the extra baggage right?"
"That's not fucking true!" he gritted, pulling his hair frustratedly. "You're part of this as much as I am!"
"Right. Where are we going next?"
Nathan blubbered like a fish out of water.
"That's what I thought," you scoffed, slipping your backpack on.
"Wait, dammit," he cursed when you walked past him, chasing after you into the living room. Frustrated, he called out, "All I'm asking is for you to sit this part out because you're hurt."
You stopped, slowly facing him.
"I never thought that the loneliest I'd ever feel is when I'm supporting you to chase this dream you'd been wanting ever since you were a kid," you admitted, chest tightening as you stared into his troubled brown eyes. "So, I'm not sitting this one out, Nate, I'm done."
You shoved the cross right on his chest.
"Have fun on your honeymoon," you said, bumping his shoulder as you walked out the door.
"Y/N!"
You never looked back.
-:-:-:-:-:-:-
Nathan was smart in a lot of different aspects. But emotions and feelings?
Oh he was stupid as fuck.
He wished it didn't take something drastic to happen for him to accept what he truly felt for you.
Part of him was relieved because at least you weren't there when the plane fiasco happened, especially with your injury. He was appeasing his guilt by telling himself that you were safer this way.
Nathan wouldn't know what to do with himself if something worse happened to you.
But as he was decoding the postcards Sam sent—a difficult task to focus on when he couldn't stop worrying about you so much—Chloe suddenly came in with a package.
"It has your name on it."
He opened it confused, but nothing could prepare him for what was inside.
The dread and fear started to creep up his spine when he held the silver necklace he gave you.
You never took this off.
As he emptied the box in a rush, photos upon photos of you tied up and gagged, beaten and bruised with blood tainting your delicate skin, Nathan felt like his entire heart was taken from him.
'The map or her. Choose wisely.'
It came in flashes, moments where you'd been there for each other, the joy and heartbreak, success and failures—you were always there, his one constant.
Then came the moments where he dreamed about you and him, doing things best friends shouldn't be doing.
He always knew what he felt about you but he shoved it down in fear of ruining the friendship you'd built over the years. But now? Denying it seemed insignificant. Now there was a chance he wouldn't be able to tell you at all.
Nathan was losing the love of his life.
-:-:-:-:-:-:-
"That didn't take long," Braddock laughed sardonically, standing up from a large rock nestled on the beach somewhere in the Philippines.
"Where is she," Nathan growled, the tube map holder slung on his back.
Braddock nodded at one of her men, Nathan's heart sinking to his stomach when they dragged you in, your yelp piercing his chest when they shoved you on the sand.
Nathan instinctively tried to run for you.
"Not so fast," Braddock hummed, clicking her gun before pressing it on the back of your head. "How do I know this isn't a trick?"
"I think you already figured out I don't play games when it comes to her."
"Well, let's see," she challenged. "On your knees, Drake."
"N-Nate," you whimpered, adamantly shaking your head. Even in your state, you were still trying to protect him.
"It's okay," he reassured with a smile, hands up as he did as told.
Braddock grabbed a fistful of your hair and pulled you closer to where he was.
He stifled his anger. But best believe he'd already plotted so many ways to make Braddock suffer for what she did to you.
But one wrong move could cost your life.
"Hand it over."
"Untie her."
Braddock rolled her eyes but did so anyway.
"Hey, hey, look at me," Nathan whispered, your tear-filled eyes meeting his. He lifted his chin once, gaze flickering behind you. "I got you, okay? You're going to be okay."
"Enough with this sappy bullshit. Hand over the map or she dies."
Nathan slowly grabbed the map, only to throw it away as far as possible.
On cue, a huge explosion distracted Braddock enough for you to abruptly stand on your feet, hitting her under the chin with your head.
"You bitch!" she yelled, dropping the gun.
Nathan quickly pulled you aside and grabbed the weapon. With no remorse, he shot Braddock on both thighs, once more on the arm to be petty.
He'd do much worse if you weren't on borrowed time.
Nathan grabbed your hand and made a run for it.
-:-:-:-:-:-:-
The silence was tense.
But Nathan was focused on taking care of you first.
He was busy enough trying not to cry whenever he'd discover a new cut and bruise on you that he couldn't even dwell on the fact that you were showering together. You were both in your underwear, but still.
It was when he had you sitting on the counter as he patched you up when you spoke.
"You didn't have to do all that for me."
"You know, it hurts me so much that you think I wouldn't take a bullet for you," he sighed, finishing up a bandage before meeting your glossy eyes. "You're more important to me than you think you are."
"No, I know it's just—" You bit your bruised lip. Nathan quickly pulled it away with his thumb, not wanting you to worsen your injury. You leaned into his touch as you continued, "You've been dreaming of this since you were a kid and I feel like I've ruined it for you."
"You didn't ruin anything."
"But you should be out there looking for the gold," you said. "Instead you're stuck here with me."
"Listen to me, if I had to choose between that gold and—" He took a breath, holding your face in both hands as he stared at you longingly. "The woman I'm hopelessly in love with then…"
Nathan breathed out with a smile, "Fuck that gold."
You stared at him in a way that made him believe that he'd done it.
He'd finally ruined your friendship to a point of no return.
That until you broke out into the sweetest, brightest smile that made his heart grow and his knees weak all the same.
"It's not as hopeless as you think it is."
Nathan felt like his heart was about to burst.
"Yeah?" He grinned, giddy and warm, gently parting your legs and stepping a little closer.
You let him into your space. But suddenly your brows furrowed, frowning. "What about you and Chloe?"
"So you were jealous."
"Nate."
"There's no me and Chloe," he reassured, gently taking your hands, kissing the insides of your wrists before placing them on his shoulders. "Maybe I got the incredibly stupid idea to make you jealous—I know, baby, I'm an idiot—but she shot that down real quick."
"But—"
"Those times you've seen me with her, all I kept talking about was you," he admitted, blushing. "I'm sure she'd grown sick of me being lovesick."
Nathan probably talked her ear out about how hopelessly in love he was with you, seeking advice on what to do because it was the one thing he couldn't go to you about.
She had been really helpful, pushing him to confess because it was better you know before it's too late, and that in this line of work, you'd never know when that would be.
If only he hadn't let his cowardness win.
"She argued with me that leaving you behind was a bad idea, and if I listened to her I—" He pressed his forehead against yours with a shaky breath. "I'm sorry."
"I know you like to take all the blame but this isn't your fault," you hummed, fingers combing the straggles of hair on the nape of his neck.
"It kind of is," he pressed, eyes watering as he thought about what he dragged you into.
He couldn't stop thinking about the pain you'd gone through all because he was being reckless. For as long as he could remember, he made a vow to himself to always keep you safe no matter what. Yet here he was, failing at that—failing you.
"I'm sorry for being such a shitty best friend this past week," he said, caressing the apples of your cheeks.
"You were pretty shitty," you teased, though he could see the way your body relaxed a little. He could tell that you appreciated hearing his apology. It must've been weighing on you since you left.
It made his heart ache.
"I was and I'm sorry," he said regretfully. "I guess I just got so caught up in this whole treasure-hunting thing that I lost sight of what's truly important to me. But still, it's no excuse. I was the one who dragged you into this, I should've been attentive enough."
You turned your head and kissed his palm, a silent way of saying it was okay. He felt like he was about to melt.
"And I'm sorry for taking so goddamn long to tell you how I feel," Nathan admitted.
"Yeah well," you hummed, smiling at him sweetly. "We're both at fault on that one,"
"Still, I'm sorry," he whispered, brushing the tip of his nose against yours. "For everything."
You nodded, a smile on your lips. "I can't say I forgive yet—"
"Understandable."
"But hey," you hummed, leaning closer. "You have plenty of time to grovel and make up for it."
Nathan chuckled, brushing his lips against yours with a whisper, "Can I start with a kiss?"
You nodded with that cute giggle of yours, one that still echoed as he finally closed the distance.
So many things filled him up at once—soft, sweet, warm. So many emotions rattling his heart as your lips molded into one—relief, passion, love.
It was gratifying, a kiss he'd been dreaming of for as long as he could remember. But, with your fingers in his hair and his hands on your waist, your warm body flushed to his with no space in between, nothing could ever compare to the real thing.
And yes, it was going to take some time to repair the cracks that were made in your relationship. But he was willing to wait and do whatever it takes to gain your full trust back.
Nathan didn't care how long or how much work it would take, as long as at the end of every day, you came back home to him—it was more than worth it.
-:-:-:-:-:-:-
"Kid, are you even listening to me?"
"Sorry, Sully," Nathan said unapologetically. "But whatever the wife says, goes and her plan is usually better than yours."
"I'm technically not your wife yet," you giggled, your engagement ring glinting as you continued bypassing the security cameras using your phone.
"Technically, yes," he agreed, shrugging. "But in my head, you've been my wife ever since you put that ring on."
"Always thinking ahead, huh?" You finished up the job, slipping your phone into your pocket before turning to him with a raised brow.
"Oh yeah," he hummed, pulling you closer by the waist. "And once we get married, in my head, we already have three kids."
"Three?" you choked out a laugh.
"Five?"
"Let's start with one and see where that goes."
"We should definitely practice later."
"Do I always have to remind you two that this is an open line?"
"Oh we know," Nathan hummed, kissing you with a loud smack which earned an annoyed groan. He then gestured at the door with a bow. "After you, Mrs. Drake."
"Still up for debate."
"I'd take your last name any day."
"I was thinking hyphenated."
"Not a bad shout."
"Get moving you two!"
"Sully, you're getting so close to getting your wedding invite revoked."
You laughed at that.
Nathan couldn't resist kissing you once more.
"Let's go," you giggled against his lips. "We still have treasure to find."
"I'm in no rush," he shrugged, brushing his nose against yours. He was sure his eyes were glowing with pure adoration. "Already got the best one right here."
You groaned and called him cheesy but you still kissed him anyway.
Treasure be damned, with you by his side, Nathan was the richest man alive.

a/n: i’m having way too much fun writing for nate y’all keep the requests coming! also sorry for the wait i had a little writer’s block again but it passed lmfhdjsj i hope you enjoy
Tumblr media
it’s a typical night at the bar for nathan.
mix boujee drinks for customers with money to spare, make small talk with coworkers to pass the time. he enjoys his job, and he’s damn good at it. not many bartenders can pull off the tricks he does or tell you the history of drinks while concocting them. it’s a skill. it gets him extra tips, too. but as much as he enjoys his job, it’s predictable.
it’s a typical night at the bar for nathan until you walk in.
you instantly catch his attention in the little dress and strappy heels you wear. your smile when you laugh at something your friend says, accentuated by your lipstick, stops him in the middle of pouring someone a drink.
tonight just got interesting.
nathan absentmindedly pours the drink into the glass, eyes glued to you. you’re making your way up to the bar. the customer he’s serving has to pull the glass away before it overflows. they leave the bar with their drink, muttering a complaint under their breath.
that leaves an open stool open at the bar, and you take it. your friend stands beside you. nathan dries his hands off with a rag and throws it over his shoulder, looking between you and your friend.
“evening, ladies. what can i get you?”
“vodka soda lime, please.”
“i’ll have the same.”
nathan raises a brow at you, grabbing the glasses to make your drinks.
“lemme see your ID?”
you get it from your wallet and show it to him. he reads it over while cleaning out one of the glasses.
“y/n y/l/n.”
“and you are?”
“nathan, nathan drake. could i call ya y/n/n?”
“only if i can call you nate.”
nathan grins and sets down the cleaned glasses.
“call me anything you want.”
a smile tugs at your lips. your friend scoffs.
“you could put away your ID now. i just wanted to get your name.”
“how about asking instead of carding her?”
“yeah, nate. how about asking?”
you lean your chin in your hand, looking up at him through your lashes.
“i think the former was much smoother, y/n/n. don’t you? besides, it’s policy.”
nathan meets your eyes. there’s something between the two of you, you both feel it, but your friend interrupts again.
“what’s the status on our drinks?”
“coming right up, ladies.”
you smile fully at him, then break off into conversation with your friend. nate starts your drinks.
he gathers a shaker and bottles of vodka and club soda. you see him swing the vodka behind his head from the corner of your eye. intrigued, you turn to watch him. he flips the shaker in the air with one hand and catches it with another. a laugh of disbelief leaves your lips.
he’d hoped that trick would impress you. it’s always a fan favorite.
nate sends you a smirk from across the bar counter. you’re about to say something when your friend grabs your arm, making you turn back towards her. you continue your conversation while nate gets back to work on your drinks.
he scoops ice into the shaker and pours in vodka, then shakes and pours the chilled vodka into the glasses. he tops them off with club soda, lime juice, and a slice of lime in each glass for garnish. he slides the glasses towards you two.
“two vodka soda limes. enjoy.”
you trace a finger around the rim of your glass, lips forming a smirk.
“we will. thanks, nate.”
“yeah, thanks. let’s go, y/n/n.”
your friend picks up her drink and leaves the counter. you start to follow, but nate speaks up.
“vodka’s made with some pretty weird additives, y’know. fermented fruits, grains, sometimes even potatoes.”
“potatoes?”
“gives it a richer flavor.”
you squint at your drink.
“is this one made with potatoes?”
“nah, not too many brands use that method. only three percent of vodkas worldwide.“
“really?”
“really. go ahead, try it.”
you tentatively sniff your drink before deciding to take a sip. you hum in satisfaction, licking your shimmery lips when you’re done.
“whatcha think?”
“it’s good.”
“just good?”
nathan crosses his arms, tilting his head to the side. you sip some more of your drink, eyes locked with his.
“really good.”
you suck on the lime. nate watches your lips.
“could i get ya another?”
“i should find my friend. i’ll be back later, though.”
“that’s too bad, my shift’s just about over.”
“aw, i don’t want you to go. i like you and your fun facts.”
nate rests his elbows on the counter and lowers his head so it’s level with yours.
“you could come with me. i’ve got plenty more where those came from.”
“i dunno, i can’t leave my friend.”
“i think she’ll be alright.”
nathan nods out at the crowd. she’s right in the center, dancing with a group of girls. you shake your head lightheartedly.
“tell you what. if you’re worried, i could ask someone to keep an eye on her.”
“you wanna take me home that bad, huh?”
“isn’t it obvious?”
you laugh and push at nate’s arm.
“your friend’s kind of a cock block, anyway.”
“oh, totally. but now that you’ve got me alone, what do you wanna do with me, nate?”
nathan tosses aside the towel that’s over his shoulder.
“i’ll get us a ride.”

I was wondering if I could request a Nathan Drake x reader. If so. Reader is Sully’s kid and Nat has a crush but they are dating in secret?
Absolutely Love! I'll give this a shot for you <3
Not Cool Nate
Tumblr media
Pairing: Nathan Drake x Sullivan!Reader
Warnings: None really, Pretty fluffy, Cursing, maybe slightly suggestive?
Nathan hadn't met you the same night he met Victor Sullivan, in fact, your father tried to keep you hidden from the charming treasure hunter for this very reason. Of course, that didn't last long after you'd begged your father to let you go with them, promising you'd be good. You kept that promise. Sort of. You couldn't help the way Nathan's eyes skimmed across you with a small smile, and you definitely couldn't help the way it made your heart flutter. He'd kissed the back of your hand to introduce himself, not going over well with Sully who set the ground rules immediately. No Nate.
You had never been one to go against your father, but Nate made that difficult. The casual flirting, the hand slipping across your hip as he walked past you, or even the way he kept you included even when your dad wasn't keen on you tagging along. The guy knew how to build you up, just to sit back and watch you melt, and you loved it. After a while Sully decided that if Nate wanted you to come on treasure hunts with them so bad, he'd be responsible if anything happened to you.
Which is how you ended up here, not so silently tucked under the hotel sheets with Nate. "Shhh, hey d'you want your dad to come in here and kill us?" He laughed quietly, his hand covering your mouth after an exceptionally loud cackle had erupted from it. "He'd only kill you Nate, I'd be alright." You spoke muffled by Nate's hand watching his face change to fake offense. "You'd let him kill me, wow, cool y/n!". Nate let his arms slip from around you so he could roll over, facing away from you, smile widening when he felt you shift. "Oh don't you dare!" You whisper yelled scooting up behind him so you could snuggle up over his shoulder, giggling as Nate tried to cover his neck by tucking his chin in. "Oh I dare." He hummed, snorting through his nose a little.
You reach your hand under Nate's arm and began tickling him. "Hey- No!" he scolded you trying to keep laughter to a minimum. "Say you're sorry!" your eyes drifted to Nate's side profile in the dark, placing a kiss at the edge of his jaw. "I'm sorry you'd let your dad kill-" "No!" you let out a boisterous laugh making Nate shush you again while he quickly rolled over top of you. "You're so loud." He chuckled holding up his weight with one arm so he could move some hair from your eyes with the other.
"You make me loud." You said matter o' factly with a smug smile. "Oh, I make you loud?~" Nate teased dropping his face low, nose brushing against your own. The heat between the two of you amplified by the satin dome holding you in. You couldn't see it, but you knew Nate's face would be flushed, and his usual slicked back hairdo would be tussled. "And how exactly..." He mumbled placing a kiss to your collar bone. "Do I..." you could feel Nate's smirk against your skin as he placed another kiss to the center of your throat. "Do that?" He finished by placing a kiss teasingly at the edge of your jaw, trailing to the corner of your soft lips.
Just as you were about to speak, your shield of sheets lifted, revealing the tangled mess you both were to the world, or well, your dad. Your hands in Nate's hair, his lips pressed against your skin, bodies pressed flush against one another. "Oh, come on man! My kid? Really? Steal the map before you steal them, I mean, low blow man. Not cool!" Sully spoke dramatically watching the two of you part like the red sea. "Hey, I'm not stealing them, I'm just. We're just." Nate fumbled with his words. "We're dating." You spoke up in Nate's defense, making him turn around at give you a wide eyed 'What the fuck' look. "Dating?" your father kept glancing between the two of you.
"I don't have the energy for this." Sully sighed running a hand down his face with a knowing smile. "You know what, fine. But you." He pointed at Nate who raised his hands in defense. "We'll talk about this later, I'm not down with you screwing my baby...soooo your share is 30% now." Sully dropped his arms by his side, you shook your head no and rolled your eyes at their banter. "Listen I gotta go check on my cat app, you two...stop whatever that was...and uh...goodnight!" Sully clapped his hands together placing a quick kiss to your forehead "G'night sweetheart, you're in trouble too. Daddy loves you!" He hummed making his way to the door. "Oh come on!" You laughed. "They call me daddy too Sully!" Nate called with a laugh climbing back into bed with you, placing a sweet kiss to your lips. Footsteps stopped in their tracks just outside your room before Sully shouted "20%!"

you laid on your boyfriends chest, the sunset shining in through the blinds of the window in the hotel room. he had fallen asleep hours ago, but you didn’t complain about it. you two had been on the run looking for the treasure for days, probably weeks at this point, you couldn’t keep track. he deserved his rest, as did you, but you couldn’t sleep. you were restless, too worried about braddock and her men finding where the two of you were.
you let your fingers softly trace over his warm, tan skin as he breathed softly under you. how could someone be so perfect?
you felt him stir awake underneath your touch, your suspicions confirmed when you felt his lips press against the hair on the top of your head. you mentally cursed yourself.
“i didn’t mean to wake you,” you mumbled softly, “go back to sleep.”
he shook his head, “‘sall right, i was starting to wake up anyway.”
you nodded, craning your neck back to look at him. he smiled tiredly at you, leaning forward and kissing you softly yet sweetly. when you had met him, you never would’ve guessed he was the soft, hopeless romantic type. no one did, really. everyone just thought that it was the way he was with you.
after a few minutes of comfortable silence, he spoke up, “when we get back home, what do you think about getting married?”
his question didn’t throw you off guard. the two of you had always talked about getting married ever since you met him, but deciding the two of you would figure it out when the time came.
you had been thinking about it a lot over the past couple weeks while the two of you had been working on this mission. you thought about what life married to nate would be like, a lot like how it is now, just with his last name.
none of it scared you anymore. if anything, it excited you.
you smiled against his chest, “i think you’ll need a ring for that, drake.”
he smiled, “already got it all planned out,” you looked back at him sweetly, “with the gold, i’ll get you a nice ring, maybe we’ll even get lucky and get a nice house for us to start a family in one day. how’s that sound?”
you pressed a kiss to his chest, smiling contently as his hands played with your hair softly, “sounds heavenly, baby.”

You’ve got to be kidding me. You think to yourself as your eyes land on none other than Nathan Drake. You’d hoped this would be a job without crossing his path. But you’re just not getting a break from him.
You can’t stand Nate.
That hadn’t always been the case, though. You used to be best friends and went treasure hunting together. You and Nate had been a team until he went behind your back. You never expected to be betrayed like that.
You live, and you learn.
“Look who it is,” Nate smirks, and you can’t help but roll your eyes.
“What are you doing here? You on vacation?” You ask, even though you know he’s here for the same reason as you: He wants the treasure.
“Unfortunately, no. But I’m sure you already knew that.”
“I thought you’d given up on treasure hunting after the last one slipped right through your fingers. Again.” You cross your arms in front of your chest.
“I’m not doing it for the money, sweetheart.” You hate it when he calls you sweetheart, and he knows it. You try not to show how much it annoys you as you take a sip from your drink. You wanted to unwind at a bar before leaving for the jungle tomorrow morning. But now Nate’s here, and it’s stressing you out.
You put the glass back down on the bar and rest your elbow against the wooden surface. “Oh, really? Does your bartending gig really pay that well?”
“Someone’s been keeping an eye on me, huh?” As a matter of fact, you have. You’re not proud of it, but Nate has been a thorn in your side for years, and as much as you’d like to forget about him, you need to keep tabs on him to stay ahead of him.
“Of course, I need to make sure you’re staying away from me.”
“You sure that’s the reason?” He raises one eyebrow, and you’ve already had enough of him. It’s not even been five minutes.
“I’m sure.”
He leans in so close you can smell him. You hate to admit it, but he smells divine.
“It’s okay, sweetheart. I’ve been keeping an eye on you as well.” A shiver runs down your spine, but you try to ignore it. Nate doesn’t deserve these reactions from you. But your body doesn’t seem to care.
“When are you leaving?” You ask, and finally, he puts more distance between you.
“This bar? Why? You wanna come to my hotel room with me?” He smirks, and you ball your fists in anger.
“You know what I mean.”
He tilts his head to the side. “Bummer. We could have a lot of fun, Y/N.” He knocks on the bar, turns around and then he’s gone. Without telling you when he’s leaving.
You mutter a few curses under your breath. It would be best to leave as soon as possible, but you have to wait for your boss to give you the final clue to find the treasure before you can head to the jungle.
***
So far, it’s going smoothly. Almost too smoothly.
You’ve got the notebook containing the clues to solve the final riddle to get to the treasure, and, so far, you haven’t had any hold-ups on your journey.
Well, except for running into Nate, of course.
You’re only surrounded by the sounds of the jungle as you make your way towards the lost ruins.
Ever since what happened with Nate, you’ve been on your own. Yes, you’ve got your boss’s support, and he helps you with a lot of things, but when it gets down to actually finding the treasures, that’s all you. Sometimes you’re accompanied by other treasure hunters that work for Moncada, but that’s been the exception these last few missions. You like being on your own. Minimises the chance of being betrayed by your partner.
After fighting your way through thick foliage, you think you hear an unusual noise. You’re on high alert now. It could be your boss’s people scouting the area. But he would’ve told you about that.
Could it be?
A grunt. “Dammit.” The sound of something crashing onto the ground.
You take a careful step forward, pushing the leaves to the side, and then you see Nathan fucking Drake standing up and dusting off his hands on his cargo pants.
You gotta be kidding me. Again. Out of all the possible routes through this huge jungle, you two ended up on the same one.
You consider sneaking past him to get ahead, but there’s no way he won’t see you.
“Getting old?” You call out to him, making him jump and turn to where you’re standing.
“Y/N. What a pleasure to see you.” His voice is dripping with sarcasm as he runs his hand through his hair.
“Ditto.” You roll your eyes. “Get out of my way, old man. I have a treasure to find.” You wave your hand like he’s an annoying fly you’re trying to get rid of. He kind of is.
“Oh, yeah? I thought you’d just gone out for a stroll.”
“Funny.”
“Also, I’m not old.”
“Mhm.” You don’t pay much attention to him as you start climbing up the overhang. With a practised eye and a firm grip, you manage to climb up without any problems.
You rest your hands on your hips and look down to where Nate is still standing.
“I wish I could see your face when you get to the treasure, and it’s already gone because I took it.” You smile smugly. You’d like to think you’re the better treasure hunter, but truth be told, both of you are great at what you do and have probably found an equal amount of treasures. You’re not going to admit that to him, though. Plus, there’s the fact that every time he does find a treasure, he ends up losing it one way or another.
“What makes you so sure you’re going to get there before me? Just because you’re ahead of me now? There are still riddles to be solved, sweetheart. Don’t get too excited just yet.”
You suppress a groan at the nickname and school your features. “Well, I’ve got an advantage on you though.”
“And what’s that?” He raises one of his brows.
You reach behind you and pull the notebook from your back pocket. “This.” You watch as Nate’s jaw drops, but you don’t allow yourself to bask in it too long. You need to get a move on.
Revealing that you have the notebook was probably not a good idea, but you couldn’t help it. Nate knows how to push your buttons. And you allow it every time.
“Y/N! Wait!” He calls after you, and you can hear him start to climb again.
Of course, you’re not waiting for him. You start jogging to get some distance between you and him, but the ground is not made for that, and you have to be careful not to stumble and fall.
Suddenly, you hear shots being fired, and it causes you to freeze. You hear Nate’s loud footsteps behind you and hold up a hand to make him stop. Thankfully, he does.
“What’s going on?” He whispers as he comes to a halt behind you.
“Didn’t you hear the shots?” You ask, carefully walking forwards.
“I did. But I thought that’s just your people doing what they do best.”
“And what would that be?”
“Being useless?” He says it as if it’s obvious. You don’t think they’re useless, though. They’ve helped you keep many people off your back. Sometimes you think of them as your bodyguards.
You don’t regard him with an answer; just continue to walk forward until you can see where the shots are coming from. When you can finally see a group of people, you don’t recognise any of them.
“I’ve never seen these people before.” You murmur. You don’t want to draw attention to yourself. It’s dangerous.
A treasure worth millions of dollars is somewhere around here, and people don’t shy away from killing to get to it. You have to be careful.
“It’s probably best if we stick together.” Nate muses, and you turn to him with a raised eyebrow. This might be the first time he suggests something like that. Seems like he really needs that notebook.
“I’m just saying. Neither of us know who these people are. And there’s safety in numbers, right?”
He does have a point. Even though it would be just the two of you against a group. And you don’t know how many more people might be around. You don’t see a downside of going with Nathan for a bit. Besides him being annoying, of course. But you’ll get over that.
“Fine.” You give in. “But keep the talking to a minimum.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
***
Of course, Nate doesn’t keep the talking to a minimum. He comments on every little thing. But you ignore it as best as you can.
You’re close to the spot where you suspect the treasure to be. Only a little bit further.
“So I was thinking…” Nate says as he follows you down the stairs of one of the ruins.
“Oh no. Does your head hurt now?” You ask with mock concern.
“Funny.” You can practically hear him roll his eyes. “When we find the treasure, I’ll let you have 25%,” This makes you stop in your tracks, causing him to run into you. You turn around swiftly.
“You’re letting me have 25%? You’ve got to be kidding me. You wouldn’t even be here without me. You’re lucky if I’ll let you have even 5% of it.” You place your hands on your hips and glare at him.
He looks at you for a few seconds, then you see the corner of his mouth quirk up. And then he’s full out laughing.
“Oh, sweetheart, it’s so much fun to rile you up.”
“I hate you.” With that, you turn around and continue walking.
“Thanks for reminding me, I almost forgot.” Nate’s voice is dripping with sarcasm. “Feeling’s mutual by the way.”
You turn around to him again. “You know, I don’t think this is working out. We should go our separate ways.”
Nate laughs, “Nice try. We’re so close to finding the treasure, I’m not leaving your side.”
“Because you wouldn’t find it without me.”
“You’ve got the notebook. Of course, I wouldn’t be able to find it without you.”
***
You continue to put up with Nate until you reach the chamber the treasure is in. You get that familiar giddy feeling you always get when you’re about to reach a treasure.
With Nate’s help, you push the huge stone that’s covering the opening away. You’re the first inside the room. The ceilings are high, but the only light source is coming from your flashlights. You’re surprised how intact this building still is.
You look around the room, but nothing really stands out until your flashlight reveals a stone chest in the corner of the room.
“It must be in there.” You mutter, even though you expected there to be more gold than just a chest of it.
Nate follows you there, you open the chest and…
Nothing.
Except for a note and a curious-looking dagger.
It’s no use, the treasure was definitely not here, and you had to basically start over. You can’t make sense of the note and the dagger just yet, so you and Nate decide to go back into town and try to figure this out.
You aren’t sure why you’re still entertaining him. You should have told him to fuck off ages ago. But even though he’s annoying, it’s nice to have some company for a change.
Once back in town you inform your boss of the new development. He’s not happy but knows there’s nothing you can do about it.
A couple hours later, someone knocks on your door, and when you open it, Nate’s standing there, a bottle of wine in his hand.
“Ready to figure this out?”
You’re surprised to see him, but then again not. You have to keep in mind that he was only after the treasure; he doesn’t want to spend time with you. And you don’t want to spend time with him.
You could just tell him to leave, but what harm could a glass of wine do?
Famous last words.
Two hours and two bottles of wine later, you at least know where to go next. But you’re also a little drunk.
“Have I ever told you how much I admire you?” Nate says, his cheek resting in his palm as he looks at you. His words are just a little slurred, and the way he smiles at you is almost adorable.
“Uh, no, I don’t recall you ever saying something positive about me.” You tilt your head to the side, unsure of where this is going.
“That can’t be true.” He rests his other hand on your knee. The heat of his skin takes you aback, goosebumps rising on your arms at the contact. “We had some good times together in the past, gorgeous.”
The pet name tenfolds the reaction you just had, and you tighten your fists, afraid he’d see your hands shaking.
“Don’t call me that.” You bite at him. He used to call you gorgeous back when you were still friends. It would make your cheeks heat up every time, and you’d tell him it’s annoying, but secretly you loved it. You loved the idea of him thinking you’re gorgeous.
But not anymore. Now it just brings back bad memories. Memories of his betrayal. How can you ever believe he meant anything he said when he went behind your back in the worst way.
“Why not?” He raises one eyebrow. His hand is still on your knee, and he gives it a little squeeze.
“It’s annoying.” You should make him take his hand off your leg, but you can’t bring yourself to it. It’s been way too long since you’ve had some human contact, and your body is soaking up his warmth like it needs it to live.
Nate tilts his head. “You sure about that?” Nate’s hand slowly travels higher on your leg, and the urge to squeeze your thighs together is worrying.
You look at him and catch yourself wondering what his lips would feel like against yours. If his hair is as soft as it looks. His cheeks are tinted red, from the alcohol, you assume. His eyes twinkle in the light of your hotel room. It’s annoying how handsome he is. And it’s even more annoying how much power he still has over your body.
Without realising, you’ve leaned in closer to him.
“Nate.” You want to tell him that this is a bad idea. That you and him together is wrong on so many levels. You want to tell yourself that, too. But these past couple of hours have almost felt like it had back in the day, with you and Nate working as a team. You felt like you were about to get whiplash from all these conflicting emotions.
“Y/N.” Nate cups your face with one hand, his thumb caressing your cheekbone. “Just let it happen, gorgeous.”
That’s all it takes. You feel your resolve crumble as he leans in. The tip of his nose brushes against yours before he captures your lips.
You shift even closer to him and slide one hand into his soft hair as you reciprocate his kiss. His lips are surprisingly soft as he kisses your top lip, then your bottom lip, before moving his hand to the back of your neck. You open your lips ever so slightly and flick your tongue over his bottom lip.
You can feel him smile, and then his tongue is meeting yours, and you tighten your grip on his hair. You don’t remember ever being kissed like this.
Your surroundings seem to blur as you push all your thoughts to the back of your head and allow yourself to just feel.
You don’t know how much time passes with you and Nate kissing, but when your name falls from his lips like a prayer, it’s like someone burst a bubble in your head.
You need to get some distance from him, so you pull away. For a moment, Nate follows your movement, his lips chasing yours, but you move your head to the side.
This is still Nate, the Nate you can’t trust. A couple of hours of teamwork don’t change that. If you don’t stop this now, you don’t know how far you’ll let things go. Probably too far.
“I think you should leave.” You whisper, unable to look into his eyes.
Nate pauses for a moment, then he nods and clears his throat, “I’ll see you in the morning.”
“Okay.”
As soon as you hear the door click shut, you let yourself fall back onto the couch and groan. How could you have let this happen? Yes, you’re a little tipsy, but that’s no excuse for just letting him kiss you!
But that kiss.
You don’t think you’ve ever had a better kiss in your life. The realisation makes you groan again. Nate doesn’t have the right to be such a good kisser!
Still grumpy, you get ready for bed. You’ll deal with your feelings in the morning.
***
You wake up before your alarm, and suddenly you have an uneasy feeling. As you look at the coffee table, you see two empty wine bottles along with glasses and lots of scrap notebook paper. It’s a mess.
Just like your head because you’re still thinking about Nate’s lips on yours. (That’s nothing against last night’s dreams, though)
Still slightly frazzled, you get ready as quickly as you can. You need to get to the treasure quickly before someone else can.
When you’re almost ready to go, you decide to clean up the room a little bit. You don’t want housekeeping to see the remnants of last night.
You throw away all the notes that led to nothing last night, and as you look at the clear coffee table in front of you, it suddenly dawns on you why you had such an uneasy feeling all morning.
The dagger is gone.
You turn over every pillow on the sofa and even look underneath it. Nothing.
There’s only one explanation. Nate took it.
You let him seduce you, and he stole from you. Taking a deep breath, you keep from screaming in frustration.
You knew you shouldn’t have worked with him. It seems to always end with him betraying you.
But hey, you were supposed to meet this morning. Maybe he didn’t actually go behind your back and will be waiting for you in the lobby?
*
Of course, he isn’t waiting for you in the lobby. As a matter of fact, you find out he has already checked out.
You give the receptionist a strained smile before heading out yourself. Maybe you can still catch up with him. At least you know where to look for him.
While you’re making your way through the jungle, you’re mad at yourself for letting him trick you so easily. You know what he’s like.
This is exactly what happened the last time you worked together. You woke up one morning, and he was gone with the diary that held all the information. Luckily the guy you two had been working with at the time had caught him before he was gone too far. That way, you were still able to obtain the treasure.
But it made you realise the kind of person Nate was. He doesn’t care about anyone but himself. You thought you were best friends, but he betrayed you without blinking an eye. And now he’s done the same thing because you let your hormones control you for one evening.
Pathetic.
Suddenly, the sound of gunshots rings through the quiet jungle, and you can’t help but be worried. What if something happened to Nate?
You shouldn’t care, that’s what!
The gunshots didn’t seem to be too far from where you were, so you pick up your pace, trying to find whoever it is. Maybe not the best idea, but you’re curious.
As you break through the foliage, you notice Nate on the ground behind a rock, clutching his arm, blood seeping through his shirt. He’s been hit.
Suits him right, a small voice in your head says. You don’t want him to be seriously injured, but he deserves a little payback.
You crouch down next to him, making sure you’re not seen by the people still scouting the area.
“Y/N?” Nate seems surprised to see you.
“Shut up. I’m not in the mood to talk to you.” You hiss as you peek over the rock to see what’s going on. Just like last time, you don’t recognise most of the people, but one face is very familiar to you.
“Rafe? What is he doing here?” Rafe’s one of your closest associates. If you do work with someone on a treasure hunt, it’s with him. So why is he here but not working with you?
“He might be looking for the treasure, sweetheart.” Nate presses out as he tries to sit up.
“Didn’t I tell you to shut up?” You don’t even look at him, your eyes still trained on Rafe as you try to make out what he’s saying.
“Moncada wants the treasure ASAP.” Rafe bellows, and the name of your boss makes you freeze. If he’s working for your boss, why don’t you know about it? Did Moncada send him as support? “Y/N should be around here somewhere.” You’re about to stand up, but Nate wraps his hand around your forearm and slowly shakes his head. You look at him questioningly, but then Rafe continues, “If you find her, shoot her.”
What?
You suck in a breath. Why would Rafe want that? You’ve worked quite well as a team in the past. Why does he want you dead all of a sudden?
“Moncada promised us a good bonus if we kill her, so keep your eyes open!” Rafe claps his hands, and his men start moving, but you’re frozen in place. Nate squeezing your arm pulls you out of your stupor.
“We need to find a hiding spot,” Nate urges while trying to get up. “I managed to trick them into thinking I ran into a different direction but if we stay here they’ll find us.”
For a moment, you just stare at him. Moncada wants you dead. Your boss and, in some way, your father figure wants you to die. A billion different explanations as to why he would want that flit through your brain but none of them make sense to you.
“Y/N!” Nate hisses, and even though you maybe shouldn’t, you follow him without thinking twice about it.
You end up in a small cave hidden away by vines and other foliage. Nate lets himself fall against one of the rocks, still clutching his arm. And finally, you can get enough of a grip to ask him what happened.
“Rafe and his men suddenly showed up. At first I thought he was on his own but as you might have noticed he’s working for Moncada.”
“Why does he want me dead?” You furrow your eyebrows and see Nate shrug his shoulders with a wince.
You’re pacing back and forth in front of him, too anxious to stand still. The moment one of Rafe’s men sees you, you’re dead. It doesn’t make sense. Rafe has been one of the men protecting you on your past adventures. How is he okay with just killing you all of a sudden? You thought you could trust him. Sounds familiar.
“I don’t wanna interrupt your crisis but a little help would be nice.” You stop your pacing and turn to look at Nate.
Shirtless.
“Why is your shirt off?” It’s out of your mouth before you can stop yourself, your eyes glued to his chest. You have to admit, he’s got some muscles. Nice muscles. You watch them move under his tan skin, and you wouldn’t be surprised if you start salivating in the next three seconds.
But it doesn’t come to that because Nate starts talking, and your eyes snap up to look at his face again. “Originally to get better access to the wound, but this is a nice side effect.” He winks, causing your face to heat up. You feel like you got caught doing something you shouldn’t be doing.
Maybe because ogling Nate is a bad idea.
“Shut up.”
Nate just smirks. “Will you help me now or are you going to let me bleed out?”
“I should, with how you stole from me.” You say but walk towards him anyway. He won’t bleed out if you don’t help him, he’s exaggerating, and both of you know that. Opening your backpack, you pull out your first aid kit. It’s come in handy many times.
Both of you are quite as you prepare to take care of the wound.
“I’m sorry.” Nate finally says with a sigh. “I shouldn’t have stolen the dagger from you.”
“Somehow I don’t really buy you being sorry.” You mumble before cleaning the wound with some water. Then you apply some gel, being rougher than you need to be.
“Ouch! Be careful!” Nate complains, but you have no intention of being soft with him. “I really am sorry!” Nate insists, then he lets out a groan of pain, and maybe you are just a little bit softer with him.
You reach for a bandage, and Nate visibly tenses when you get closer to him.
“I’ll be gentle.” You reassure him. “If you explain.”
“Why I did it?” He raises one eyebrow.
“That much is obvious. Why you’re sorry all of a sudden. You didn’t bat an eye at stealing from me in the past.”
“I’ve realised some stuff.” Nate lets out a breath while you gently wrap the bandage over his arm. You can’t help but notice how well defined his biceps are. Focus!
“And what did you realise?”
Nate takes his time before he answers. You’re tying up the bandage when he finally speaks up.
“That being angry with you all my life won’t do me any favours.” He clears his throat. “Yeah you broke my trust when you just left me for dead on our last mission together but–”
“I didn’t!” You can’t believe what he’s saying. “You were about to take off alone with the diary. You stole from me just like you did last night! You’re a thief Nate. And I thought you would at least have some respect for your friends, or even just your best friend at the time.” You point at yourself. “But you didn’t. You stole from me like I was some random person you couldn’t give two shits about.”
Nate looks to the side with a sneer. “So fucking stupid.”
“Excuse me? Did you just call me stupid?”
“And what if I did? What are you going to do about it?”
“I’m so sick of your fucking games, Nate. When this is over I don’t ever wanna see you again.”
“And I’m sick of your higher than thou attitude! As if you’re better than me! You’re just some lonely girl finding treasures to get the praise she so desperately needs. I bet you run back to Moncada every time you find a treasure, wagging your tail, presenting it to him like a good little puppy!”
“Shut up! You have no idea what you’re talking about!”
“You shut up, or I’ll make you shut up.” His voice is menacing, but you’re not scared. The air between you both is charged, and as much as you know you should take a step back, you don’t. You’re standing so close that the fabric of your shirt is brushing against his skin, and you can feel his body heat radiating off of him.
“I’d like to see you try.”
Nate doesn’t answer, not verbally. But in the next moment, one of his hands is on the back of your neck and his lips on yours. You let out a surprised whimper. You weren’t expecting him to kiss you. Not again. And not when he had nothing to take from you.
You don’t think as you fist your hands in his hair and pull him closer. You don’t think as you open your mouth and deepen the kiss. And you definitely don’t think as you let him lead you backwards until your back makes contact with the wall.
You wrap one of your legs around his hip, his hand immediately there to steady you. You’re still feverishly kissing as you feel his hips rut into yours, causing you to moan.
“You’re so fucking aggravating.” You manage to say between kisses, and you think you hear Nate growl. You can’t ignore the tingling in your lower belly any longer, even though you’re almost ashamed that, of all people, Nate is the one to draw this kind of reaction from you. Almost.
“Try being in your company for a day, you’ll know who’s the aggravation one then.”
“I hate you.”
“You sure about that? Doesn’t seem like you hate me right now. The way you’re rubbing yourself on me.”
Now you’re the one growling.
“I bet if I’d put my hand in your panties you’d be dripping for me.”
You pull a face at his words. It’s not that he’s wrong, but it’s annoying that he knows what he’s doing to you.
You decide to challenge him, though.
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that.” You say, leaning your head back against the stone wall so you can look at him. His eyes are hooded, his lips slightly swollen from your kisses.
“Wanna bet?” He raises one eyebrow, and you mirror his expression. You know you shouldn’t underestimate Nate, but you wanna know how far you can push him. “Let’s see then.” He says before starting to unbutton your pants.
He’s really doing it.
Your heart feels like it’s about to jump out of your throat it’s beating that fast. Your breathing quickens in anticipation.
And then he’s running his fingers through your folds.
“You’re so fucking wet for me Y/N. Try to deny it all you want, you’re dying to have me cock inside you.”
You moan at the sensation of being touched by him, but you don’t want to have him get the upper hand. “So are you going to do anything about it, or are you one of those guys who’re all talk and can’t even find the–“You can’t even finish the sentence before his thumb is on your clit, drawing tight circles.
“What was that about being one of those guys?”
You wanna curse at him, but now he’s pushed two fingers into your cunt, and you’re unable to form proper words.
“What was that?” He’s smirking. He knows your putty in his hands now, the way you’re holding on to him. The way you’re pushing your hips into his hand, craving more.
You start to repeat what you were going to say, but then his fingertips brush against a particularly sensitive spot inside you, and all you can do is moan.
“That’s what I thought. He chuckles softly. “Had I known this is how I get you to shut up, I would’ve done it a long time ago.”
You pull on his hair with a moan, but he just laughs. “Just like that, gorgeous. Let me hear you.” He tightens his grip on your thigh and picks up his pace. You’re a moaning mess, but at this point, you don’t care.
You don’t care that you’re supposed to hate him.
You don’t care that he’s the last person you should be attracted to.
You don’t care that he seems to be enjoying the way you’re unable to talk back.
Because he’s making you feel so fucking good.
“I know you want my cock, baby, but you’re not getting it.” You pull on his hair again in protest. “Not until we find the treasure.”
“Fuck you.” You manage to say, but Nate just chuckles. You don’t know what could possibly be funny about this.
He hums as he leans in to place soft kisses on your neck. “This isn’t easy for me.” He whispers in your ear, making shivers run down your spine. Your pussy tightens around his fingers, and you’re certain you can feel him smile. “I’m so fucking hard you have no idea. It’s taken a lot of control to not just bend you over and fuck you stupid. Until you’re so fucked out you can barely walk. But we’ve got a treasure to find, gorgeous.”
And then he leans back and just looks into your eyes as he keeps fingering you, his thumb playing with your clit. You’re unable to look away as his pace slows down and something seems to shift in the air. You’re drowning in his eyes. You’ve always loved his eyes. Cherished every moment you got to see them up close. But you’ve never been this close.
“You’re so fucking beautiful, Y/N.” Nate almost pants. He nudges the tip of his nose against yours before he plants a kiss on your lips. Just one simple peck. One might even say an innocent kiss if it wasn’t for his fingers that were still moving in and out of your dripping cunt. “Bet you’re even prettier when you cum. You gonna show me?” He asks with another kiss and picks up his pace. Just a little, but it’s exactly what you need.
“Yes, fuck, right there.”
“You gonna be a good girl and cum for me?” His words are barely above a whisper, but that’s all it takes to push you over the edge.
Your mouth falls open as your orgasm washes over you, and if possible, you pull yourself even closer to Nate.
“That’s it.” He hums, his eyes moving over your face. “So fucking gorgeous.”
Nate keeps praising you as you come down from your high, his forehead resting against yours. When your breathing is almost back to normal, he starts neatly putting your panties back in place.
“You’re wrong.” He murmurs, his nose brushing against yours as he pulls up your pants. Normally, you’d feel belittled if a guy was doing this. Or at least you’d feel used as if he’d want to get you dressed as quickly as possible so you could leave. But with Nate… It feels like an intimate moment, and you have no clue why.
“What are you talking about?” Your hands are still in his hair; you can’t seem to let go of him. You should push him away, tell him you can dress yourself, thank you very much. But you don’t.
“I would’ve never stolen from you.” He zips and buttons your pants before looking at you. You don’t know how he can just pick the conversation back up after what just happened. But oh well, if he wants to keep arguing, so be it.
You tilt your head to the side. He has to realise how ridiculous that sounds just hours after he did, in fact, steal from you.
“Back then.” He clarifies. “I trusted you with my life.” He looks at you intently, his hands now on your hips. “I cared so much about you.” He pauses and closes his eyes for a few seconds. “I still do. Despite everything that happened between us, I care so fucking much about you. Rafe knew that, and he used it against me. He kept telling me how he’s gonna make sure you’ll be okay. You’ll be taken care of. ‘Don’t worry, Nate. I’m gonna make sure you and your girl get a decent chunk of the money.’ He said. But Rafe had spent months planting doubts in your head. I didn’t realise it back then, but in the final months of us working together, you started becoming more and more distant. You would go to him with new clues first.
“At first I didn’t think anything of it. I thought you did it because he’s the more experienced treasure hunter. But then you started keeping things from me. I felt like you were going behind my back, that you didn’t want to work with me anymore. And then one day Rafe sent me to scout the area and when I came back both of you were gone.”
It’s hard to wrap your head around everything Nate is telling you. And maybe you should be a little more careful because you can’t be a hundred per cent sure that Nate is telling the truth. But your gut is telling you that he is. At some point during the past 24 hours, you realised that Nate isn’t the egoistic asshole that you thought he was.
Yeah, okay, he stole the dagger from you, but wouldn’t you have done the same in his position? Probably.
You watch him for a moment. He’s got no reason to lie to you. He’s the one with the dagger. He could’ve just run off with it. He doesn’t need your help. But yet he asked for it. And even more importantly, he saved your life earlier. If it wasn’t for him, you would’ve run straight to Rafe when you saw him. And you’d be dead.
If he had told you all of this last night, you wouldn’t have believed him. But now? You believe him.
It makes sense. Now that you’ve seen Rafe’s true self, you can see him manipulating you. Doing everything to get you and Nate to split up. Nate hadn’t been the biggest fan of Rafe. Or even Moncada. He didn’t like the idea of just finding the treasure for someone else. But Rafe told you time and time again that Moncada would reimburse you more than enough. And ever since you started working for him, he kept his word. But back then, you and Nate had argued more than once if working for him and with Rafe was a good idea. But Nate always agreed because you trusted Rafe. And Rafe got you to trust him more than your best friend. The realisation feels like a punch in the gut.
“So you’re saying that you didn’t try to steal from us? That Rafe made that up?” You feel stupid because it all makes sense. Why didn’t you realise it sooner? Why did you let yourself be manipulated by Rafe?
“He played us.” Nate nods. “For whatever reason he wanted to get rid of me and turn us against each other.”
“So all these years… I hated you for no reason?” You feel guilty as you say this. Thinking back to all the things you said to him. All the length you went to beat him, to be the better treasure hunter when you could’ve worked as a team this whole time.
“Hey, don’t feel bad. I hated you, too.” Nate smiles at you, but you can see that he, too, feels the guilt.
“Can I…” You start, and his eyes focus on yours. “Can I give you a hug or something?” You ask, not sure how to deal with all of this. Asking for a hug is probably the weirdest thing, considering his fingers had been inside you not too long ago, and your hands were still resting at the nape of his neck.
Nate lets out a laugh but wraps his arms around your waist. “You’re so weird.”
You tug on a strand of his hair which makes him laugh even more, but then he’s holding you tightly, and you can feel his warm skin everywhere.
“I’m sorry.” You say after a while. “I shouldn’t have allowed Rafe to turn me against you. I don’t even know how he managed to do that. You’re the person I trusted the most.”
“Don’t worry about it Y/N. He’s a conniving, manipulative son of a bitch. And you were impressionable. We both were.” He shrugs his shoulders. “He wanted me gone. And he knew how much I cared about you and used that against me. There’s nothing we can do about it now.”
“Actually, there is.”
***
Your plan is to simply find the treasure and be gone before Rafe gets there. Now that you’re working with Nate again, you know you can do it. There was a reason Rafe wanted to split the two of you apart. You were too good together.
And now that the air between you has sort of been cleared, Nate isn’t even that annoying anymore. Sure, he’s still a little shit. But instead of it slowly driving you up the wall, you almost find it charming.
“So now that we’re on good terms again, does that mean we’re going to split the treasure accordingly? 75% for me and 25% for you?” Nate asks as he follows you along one of the tunnels that will hopefully lead you to the treasure. You know he’s got a smirk on his face without having to turn around.
As a reply, you just flip him off.
Finally, you reach a heavy stone door that, according to all the clues you have, should be the only thing between you and the treasure right now.
You turn around to Nate and motion for him to step forward. “Go ahead,” The dagger needs to be inserted into the keyhole in the centre of the door.
“I’m honestly surprised you haven’t attempted to steal it back from me.” Nate muses as he steps closer to the door while rummaging through his backpack.
You can’t help but smirk.
“Funny you say that.” With that, you pull the dagger from your own backpack and wave it in front of his face. You took it from him back in the cave while tending to his wound.
“Are you serious?” He gapes at you, making you laugh.
“Just because we had a little heart to heart doesn’t mean I completely trust you again.” You shrug your shoulders before walking to the door and inserting the key.
“That’s fair,” Nate mumbles while you turn the key. It isn’t easy, but you manage to do it, and with a loud clacking noise, the ancient mechanism starts working. Dust and dirt fall to the ground as the door slowly moves out of the way.
You take a tentative step forward. This could very well be just another trap. But you’ve done this for long enough to know that it’s not. This is the real deal. You open the chest closest to you, and there it is. The treasure. And there’s not just one chest. There’s dozens of them.
You turn around to Nate with the biggest smile. “We did it!”
Nate mirrors your smile. “I guess we did.”
And there’s still no sight of Rafe and his men. You’re over the moon. All the tension leaves your body, and all you can feel is pure joy.
Giddy, you throw your arms around Nate’s neck. He stumbles back a bit, not expecting your outburst, but then he wraps his arms around your waist and pulls you closer.
You don’t remember the last time you got to celebrate finding a treasure with someone else. And because this feels like a special sort of victory, you’re even more excited. And before you know what you’re doing, you’re pulling Nate close to plant a kiss on his lips. You can feel him smile against you, his hands moving to cup your ass and all the excitement you’re feeling suddenly turns into lust. The kiss turns heated as you open your lips.
“I think there’s something you wanted to give me when we find the treasure.” You raise an eyebrow at him before moving one of your hands to where his cock is already straining against his pants.
“If you’re not careful I’ll bend you over right here and now.” He grumbles, his eyes dark.
“I dare you.” You smile at him wickedly. “But make it quick, we don’t have much time before Rafe shows up.”
You don’t have to tell him twice. With one quick movement, he whirls you around and bends you over one of the large treasure chests. Wetness pools between your legs. You never thought you’d be fucking on a treasure, but it’s exciting as fuck.
Nate’s impatient, trying to pull down your pants without even opening them. It’s not working, so you quickly fumble with the button. Before you can get to the zipper, it opens itself as Nate finally pulls down your pants.
“Been thinking about this all fucking day.” He says as he struggles with his own pants. “Look at you. So fucking gorgeous bent over for me.” You look back at him just as he pulls out his cock, and you can’t help but moan. He’s hard, precum already dripping from the tip.
“Hold on tight, baby.” He says and steps closer to you. You try and find something to hold on to, finally reaching for the edge of the treasure chest, digging your fingers into the sturdy material. You push your ass in the air, impatiently waiting for the moment he’ll finally fill you up.
Nate places one of his hands on your hip, and you’re tingling with anticipation. “You wore these just for me? You expected to get laid in the jungle?” He asks as he slips one of his fingers under the edge of your underwear. It’s one of the prettier pairs you own, not the functional ones you’d usually wear on a trip like this. But you wanted to feel sexy and confident, who can blame you?
“I’m wearing these for me,” you say with a certain edge to your voice. You want him to stop talking.
“Sure you are, sweetheart.” Then you feel your panties digging into your skin for a second before a cracking sound fills the air, and the pressure is gone.
“Better.” You hear Nate murmur, and your mouth falls open in shock.
“Did you just rip my underwear?”
“Oops.”
“You son of a–“
You don’t get to finish your sentence because the next thing you know, he gently kicks the inside of your foot, causing you to spread your legs further before pushing into you, stretching you out, and you can’t do anything but tilt your hips to give him better access.
“Looks like someone loses the ability to speak once their cunt is filled.” Nate leans over you, his lips brushing against the shell of your ear. You reach back with one of your hands, grabbing a fistful of his hair like you’ve down before, not tugging on it, but just holding onto him, keeping him close.
“You feel so fucking good, gorgeous.” He starts thrusting, and now you are tugging on his hair. “I love it when you pull my hair.” He says, then places a kiss right under your ear. One of his hands is holding onto your hip tightly, the other resting on the treasure chest next to you.
His thrusts are slow and deliberate, and as much as you love this, you don’t have all day.
“Faster, Nate. Give it to me.”
Nate grunts at your words, but then he picks up the pace, fucking into you like there’s no tomorrow, and somehow he manages to brush against your g-spot every time. Your whole body is wound uptight, your hips slamming against the treasure chest with every forceful thrust, and you know you’re gonna have bruises tomorrow, but you don’t give a fuck.
“I’m so fucking close.” Nate presses out, his thrusts growing more erratic.
“Cum for me.” You tug on his hair. “Fill me up, Nate.”
“Fuck!” He rights himself, both his hands now on your hips, and if possible, he fucks even deeper into you, and suddenly, without warning, you’re coming undone.
Your walls tighten around him as a guttural moan leaves your lips, and then you feel him cum inside you.
He keeps thrusting lethargically until he’s completely spent, then he slowly pulls out.
You feel your combined juices dripping out of you, and even though your mind is still clouded from that intense orgasm, you reach between your legs to not ruin your pants. He’s already destroyed your panties, and as hot as that was, you still have to make your way back to the city.
“Can you hand me a tissue or something?” You ask, your breathing still heavy.
“Ah, shit, wait. Take this for now.” He hands you something, and you can’t fight the urge to roll your eyes.
“Are these my panties?”
You hear Nate chuckle before his hand covers yours, his other arm wrapping around your waist to pull you into a standing position, holding you against his chest.
“I’m sorry I ripped them.”
“Are you really?” You lean to the side and look back at him with a raised brow, the smirk on his face is all you need to know. “That’s what I thought.”
He helps you clean up before calling Sully to organise the relocation of the treasure.
*
When you’re finally back in the city, knowing you beat Rafe to the treasure, you feel like you’re on top of the world.
You know he still wants you dead, that you have to be careful. But you’ve got Nate and Sully (who was sceptical at first but agreed to give you a chance) protecting you. Perhaps you should take a break from treasure hunting for a while. It would be the smart thing to do, get off of Rafe and Moncada’s radar. But you know when the next opportunity to find a treasure comes along, you won’t hesitate to go after it.
You don’t know where you and Nate are headed, what the things that happened between you mean. But you know you’ll figure it out.

broken connection ~ nathan drake
Tumblr media
summary: request given by anonymous - "can you do an angst to fluff with Nathan drake where you're both on a heist and he honestly thinks you died cause coms went out or something and then you just rock up completely fine and confused as to why everyone is panicking
warnings: nada
word count: 2.5k
“Y/N, your position,” Sully voiced over the comms.
“Uhm…not sure. Someone’s rooftop,” you huffed, out of breath from running up and down staircases and jumping across roofs that were close enough just to get away from Moncada’s men.
They had been in the control room hallway, where Nathan needed to be. You had managed to distract the men enough to get them away from the door so that he could slip in, but you had yet to shake them. Unlike Nate, you weren’t a new face. Moncada’s men knew who you were, this not being your first round-up with Sully. You used to be friends with Jo Braddock, but she was always jealous of the training that you received instead of her. That was part of the reason that Jo had left you and Sully. She felt she wasn’t being trained to her greatest potential. You felt bad for her, at first. But the more that Sully explained that your younger age would be an advantage, both combatively and intelligence-wise, the more you understood why your training was more pertinent than hers. You had even tried explaining that to her, but she didn’t want to listen. Clouded with rage about the situation, she made a decision that would impact everyone.
“What’s going on?” Nate asked.
“Nothin’ kid. Mind your own business. Power’s not out yet. We need that distraction.”
“Then why don’t you get your ass up and help Sully?” you screamed over the comms. “I got to men on my tail, Drake’s busy cutting the power, and you’re what? Too busy drinking the nice liquor?” “Damn straight. I got my best tux on. I ain’t gonna mess it up.”
You scoffed, as you pushed open yet another door to a roof. There was a big glass roof on the top that you had to run around, but you didn’t know how much longer you could run in heels. You should have been smarter, but then again, you didn’t know that running from guys with guns on a cold night was part of the agenda. Heels weren’t ideal to have a chase in. The next corner you turned around blocked the rest of the roof from your sight, the glass raised on this side of the roof. You ran straight, the roof completely open. Or so you thought. Apparently, there were two glass structures with a pathway in the middle. Before you could make it close to the other side of the roof, you were rammed into from the side, sending you flying to the short wall on the roof’s edge, the only thing keeping you from falling off.
Nathan heard your grunt over the comms, quick to ask if you were okay while keeping his hands occupied with the task in front of him. When he didn’t get a response from you, he figured you hadn’t heard him over whatever was going on. The noises from the other side were faint, the sounds of a man and woman struggling with one another.
“Y/N, are you okay? What’s going on?”
“Drake! What’s taking so long? The cross is up next! Now cut the power!” Sully whisper-shouted.
Nathan pushed the thought of you to the side and untangled the jumble of wires, trying to find the right one to tamper with. Green over the yellow. Then make a loop for the blue to go through. The red outlet is here so…
“Yes!” he exclaimed before taking the red wire and slicing it in half. All around him, he could hear the noises of the generator powering down. The backup would be on in a few minutes, giving Sully just enough time to grab the relic they came here for. Nathan closed the panel, hiding the cut wire back into the jumbled mess. He glanced around the dark room just to make sure that no one else was in there to mess with it before Sully had done his part.
“They got the cross still in the case. They’re bringing it to the back. Y/N, you got it?”
With no response, Sully asked again. “Kid, you shake the guys on your tail yet? Can you get the case?” He sounded more hurried and concerned the second time.
“Sully, I think something’s wrong. It sounded like there was a fight and she…”
The older man groaned. “Fine, I guess I’ll have to do it myself.”
“Have a heart, Sully. What if something happened?” “Then you gotta go look for her. I’m a little occupied at the moment,” Sully replied, irritated.
Nathan knew Sully would be upset if he abandoned his post before the cross was safe in their hands, but you were worrying him. Why wouldn’t you respond? He couldn’t hear anything anymore coming from your side of the comms, so why wouldn’t you say anything now? But that was just it. He didn’t hear anything from your side of the comms. Not even your breath. What had happened? What if Moncada’s guys had hurt you, or worse, killed you? His heart felt like it was about to pound out of his chest. He had to find you.
Without thinking, he ran out of the door, not concerned with the shocked faces of security greeting him in the hall outside. They hopefully hadn’t gotten too good of a look at him. He could hear Sully talking to others on his side of the comms, something about taking the cross of their hands and getting it to a safe place. He briefly heard a woman’s voice and a scuffle, but that didn’t concern him as he finally got to the elevator. Pressing the button to bring him to the ground floor, Sully spoke to him again.
“Nate, I got the case. I’m gonna take a long way ‘round. Meet me in the car.”
The younger boy didn’t reply, tapping his foot anxiously for when the doors would open and he could sprint outside to look for you. He knew that the comms had trackers, so wherever you were, your earpiece was two. The system had been set up by himself, worried that you three might lose one another, and to upgrade Sully’s old-school tricks. Taking his phone out of his back pocket, he opened the system, looking for your location while waiting for a taxi on the side of the road. He had no idea how far you had traveled nor if Moncada’s men had taken you anywhere. When your position finally loaded, he abandoned the taxi, noticing that you were much closer than he thought. A few buildings away on a rooftop it seemed. Breezing past crowds of people and knocking some over in the process, he made it to the building just down the block from where the auction was being held. To his surprise, the front doors weren’t locked, but he’d still have to find a way to get to the roof.
“Sully, I got her location. I just can’t find a way to get to her.”
“Well, figure it out. I can’t wait for you long. The power’s back on. When they realize the cross is gone, everything within a mile is gonna be on lockdown.” “But, Y/N-”
“Find her! And quick.”
He was getting more nervous now. You all knew that tonight would be a time constraint, but he didn’t think that it would take much to get out since you were all supposed to be together. Nathan scrambled around the main floor of the building, in search of stairs or an elevator, something. When he found a door at the back of the building, he felt relieved. Looking up the stairwell, it was a TON of stairs. But he had to hurry. There was no telling what had happened to you.
His legs were getting sore, but it wasn’t stopping him. The suit jacket Sully had loaned him was long gone by now, somewhere off on the third or fourth flight. He could see the top getting closer and a slight breeze made it evident that the door was open. Slipping his gun out from the back of his waistband, he turned the safety off, ready to shoot anyone who had their hands on you. Sure enough, when he got to the last flight of stairs, the door was standing wide open, propped by a plank of wood that belonged to the threshold of the same door. He couldn’t see anyone straight away, but there were glass window structures blocking his sight of the complete roof. He wanted to yell out your name, but if there was anyone else here, he didn’t want to give himself away. Careful around every corner, his gun out and ready, he walked around the structures, each turn hoping that he would see your face.
The two of you hadn’t known one another for long, but he was protective of you. He knew that you could take care of yourself, but that didn’t stop him from wanting to keep you safe. Nathan had made his feelings for you very obvious, but he wasn’t sure how you felt. You reserved your emotions well and didn’t show the way you truly felt. He guessed that it was just the way you were, but it didn’t keep him from wanting to know more and dig more and more into who you are. If he didn’t find you soon, though, he might never know.
There was a pathway coming up ahead, one that separate two glass structures from the other. He got to the edge and quietly peeked his head around. When he didn’t see anyone, he kept walking. Two steps and he felt something crunch under his foot. Lifting his shoe back up off the ground, he backed up to look at what he had stepped on. Leaning down, he saw shards of black plastic and computer chips. Parts to your comm piece. His heart dropped. If you’re earpiece was here, then where were you?
“Nate, we gotta go. Where are you?” He could hear the sirens coming closer, but he couldn’t bring himself to move.
“Drake, address. Chop, chop. We gotta leave.” “J-just…The building with the glass t-things on top. The B-benson, I think it was called.” “On the way…You okay?”
Nathan didn’t respond, just shoving the broken pieces into his pants and tucking the gun back into his waistband. Mindlessly, he got up from his crouching position and began to walk back toward the stairwell. Getting faster with every step, reality started to come to him. You were…gone. He didn’t want to give up on you, but he couldn’t get you if he didn’t know where you were. And he couldn’t get to you if he was in jail. The staircase seemed a lot shorter on the way down than the way up. Before he knew it, he was out the front doors at the same moment a black car pulled up. The door opened, revealing his mentor.
“Get in.”
Nathan practically threw himself into the car, the door shutting on itself as the car sped off. He felt numb. How could this be happening? How could you just…disappear?
“Where’s Y/N?”
Nate cleared his throat. “She’s gone,” he whispered.
“What?”
“She’s gone, okay!” Sully was taken aback, creating a distance between them in the small car. “She’s gone.” His voice was breaking, tears threatening to spill from his eyes. Sully laid a hand on his shoulder.
“We’ll find her.”
Tumblr media
Nathan woke up to the sound of a door opening which was strange because he always locked his apartment. He snuck the gun out of the nightstand next to his bed before getting out from under the sheets. If there was someone in the apartment, he’d need to protect himself. His guard was up completely. And he was positive it wasn’t going to be torn down any time soon, especially with the events of last night. The door to his bedroom was open a crack. Although he couldn’t see anything, he could definitely hear whatever they were doing. Whoever they were, they weren’t making an effort to be quiet. He could hear glasses in the kitchen and the fridge opening. Why would someone want to rob his fridge? It barely had anything in it and he didn’t exactly hide his valuable things. He wedged the door open with his gun, careful not to make a sound. The microwave beeped as he walked into the kitchen and the person standing in the kitchen made him drop his gun.
“Shit! Nate! What the fuck?! Be careful with your gun! You’re gonna hurt somebody!” You were here, in his apartment. Startled, but you were…alive. “Are you gonna explain why you had a gun pointed at my back? Hello?” you asked, annoyed.
“You’re…alive?!”
“Alive? Wha-”
He didn’t give you a chance to question him before he ran up and connected his lips with yours. Pushing him off of you, although you didn’t want to, you needed to know what was happening.
“Nate! What’s going on?!”
“You stopped responding and I heard struggles and Sully asked me to check on you while he got the cross, which is actually pretty heavy by the way. And then I followed the tracker in your earpiece and found it crushed on the roof and I thought someone took you. And then Sully was all ‘we need to go’ and sirens were going off. I didn’t want to but we had to go and we thought…” he hurried out. He took a deep breath. “We thought you were dead.” He hooked his finger under your chin, tipping your face up to look him in the eyes. “I thought you were dead.”
Your heart was racing. You had feelings for the boy in front of you, but Sully had conditioned you to not fall into your emotions. That was what made you so good at what you do and what made you question Sully when he brought an emotional mess under his wing. But the emotion that flowed from Nathan was what made you fall for him. He had a kind heart that you envied. You wanted to be good at sharing what you were feeling, but you had hidden away your whole life. It’s what made you feel protected and secure. But with Nate around, you were more at liberty to smile, more lenient to laugh, more free to feel.
You kissed him again, letting him devour you. Both of Nathan’s hands were on your face by now and you had moved your hands up to circle his wrists and pull you two closer together. He would break away every few seconds to smile, making you upturn your lips as well.
“I’m sorry,” you finally said. “I got out of there. Not without a scratch, but I’m okay.” He looked like he was about to cry. “I’m okay,” you reassured.
You could see the emotion in his eyes, the fear that was running through him at the thought of you being dead. He felt something strong for you, just as you felt for him. As your foreheads touched, the two of you stood in silence. Feelings weren’t your greatest gift, but you’d be willing to try, willing to let go with him.

General Masterlist
A/n: I have nothing to say for myself, this is shamelessly self-indulgent like everything I write. Inspired by this post.
Tumblr media
“Fuck this”, Nate grumbled, setting the little book down onto your coffee table. Not as harshly as his frustration would’ve wanted him to, but only because of how priceless that damn object was. The absolute Odyssey he had gone through to retrieve it was another extremely good reason.
When he’d first told you about it, you almost couldn’t believe him, and this was coming from the person he would always return to in between his crazy adventures. However, a quick glance at his naked torso had been more than enough to change your mind: suddenly, that absurd and fantastic story didn’t sound so absurd and fantastic anymore.
Of course, you had immediately freaked out, the position of your med kit being all you could think of. But Nate had effectively silenced your worries – at least for that moment –, instead focusing entirely on you. And with a stamina you couldn’t explain to yourself nonetheless.
Had someone witnessed the steamy, filthy scene unfolding in your tiny bedroom, they would’ve thought you were the one who’d just made a quick stop in Hell.
Crying in shock and relief, realising you had been just one step away from losing him, you had clung to his shoulders for dear life, eyes rolling in the back of your head and legs wrapped around his hips, drawing him as close as you could, as if you were trying to become one with him, all your coherent sentences getting reduced to mindless, yet adoring chants of his name.
“I’m okay. I’m here. I’m yours…”
With deep thrusts that by no doubt had your neighbours hating you for how loud they had made you moan, and soft lips kissing away all your tears, Nate had taken your mind off of everything else that wasn’t his love for you and his body entangled with yours, twisted in bed sheets that were now stained with his blood…
“Everything okay?”, you asked, approaching him with a mug of hot milk-chocolate in your hands.
Nate sent you a weak smile, running a hand through his hair, still wet from the shower. “I’m going nowhere with this”, he sighed, rubbing his eyes, then rested his elbows on his knees. “Might need your help with it.”
You hummed, placing the mug onto the table, careful not to put it too close to the book, and kneeling on the couch right next to him. “I’ll consider it.”
Your eyes naturally flickered to his battered arms and bare back. You had treated him to the best of your abilities, but his skin was still covered in bruises that would take a while to fade.
Nate reached out and grabbed the mug, proceeding to take a long sip. “Thanks, darling”, he murmured, gratefully.
You smirked, poking at his side. “That was for me.”
He turned towards you, jaw dropped and eyes round. “Shit, I’m sorry–”, he began to apologise.
“Just kidding”, you reassured him, raising a hand to remove a little smudge of chocolate from the corner of his mouth. The action transitioned into you affectionately cupping the side of his face. “Just kidding, my love”, you repeated, as your thumb ran over the little cut on his cheekbone.
He chuckled at that, grabbing your wrist and pulling you in, lips claiming their legit place against yours.
The two of you spent a good hour and a half cuddling and working on deciphering the secret message contained in the book, and you had actually gotten to a pretty good point when you noticed that all of the action was finally starting to take a toll on Nate.
You shifted on the couch, moving so that you could have access to his back, then spread your palms over his broad shoulders, leaning in to kiss a blue-ish mark right between his shoulder blades.
Your boyfriend’s initial surprise got quickly forgotten, as he instantly surrendered to you, melting into your featherlight touch and forgetting the coded clue, too.
“Looks like the tireless treasure hunter could use some rest”, you breathed against the nape of his neck. You took your sweet time paying attention to every single wound that soiled his flesh, then, once you were done, you swiftly unbuttoned your shirt – that you might’ve happened to have stolen from him – and scooted closer to him, your front glued to his back, your hands still massaging his shoulders and roaming over his chest.
Nate threw his head back, silently asking himself what he had done to deserve such a sweet little thing as you to bless his life. And kicking his past idiot self for almost losing you. “Fuck, love…”
“Wanna go to bed?”, you offered after a few minutes, lips brushing over the shell of his ear, the gesture eliciting a shiver out of him. “We’ll finish tomorrow.”
He complied and followed you like an obedient puppy, his trademark cocky smirk fading into a love-sick gaze that never failed to make your heart skip a beat, his big, calloused hands not daring to leave yours for a single second.
You had barely touched the mattress when his head dipped to your breasts, taking advantage of the fact that you hadn’t done anything about your – his – shirt, planting soft pecks onto the delicate skin.
“Nate…”, you warned him with a soft gasp. You were still sore, since he hadn’t exactly gone easy on you, doing all in his power to make you come six times in a row, mentioning something about making up for the six months you had spent apart. You couldn’t quite remember, given how he had literally fucked your brains out.
“I know”, he mumbled innocently, and you understood there was no actual malicious intent behind his actions. “Just wanna kiss you, that’s all.”
So you just let him lay you on your back, arching up into him as your eyes fluttered shut, the wonderful sensation of your lover’s lips spreading warmth under your skin, making you feel like you were floating on pasted tinted clouds.
“Nate…”, you purred, filling him with pride, despite how tired he was. He knew all too well that he was the only one allowed to see this side of you, the only one who could make you whisper dreamingly while you were wide awake.
During an argument, you had yelled that he just loved fucking you. It was still in the early stages of your relationship – could you even call it a relationship back then? – when neither of you could quite tell where this thing was going. Well, at least he couldn’t. You certainly could tell way more than he did.
After that, you had stormed out of his apartment, going radio silence for an entire week, and that was what it took him to understand that you weren’t an outlet anymore. He ached for you, he needed you next to him.
God, he fucking loved you.
Once he was satisfied, Nate snuggled into your chest like you were his personal pillow, pressing his cheek against your sternum, so that he could regulate his breathing along yours and let the soothing rhythm of your heartbeat lull him to sleep.
Your fingers idly raked through his locks, nails lightly scraping his scalp. His hair was getting longer. You liked it, but you were ready to bet that tomorrow he was gonna ask you to help him do something about it.
“Can you hold me?”, Nate pleaded quietly, caressing your sides like you were made of glass. “I need to feel you.”
You nodded, and without a word, wrapped your limbs around him when he turned to his side, once again pressing your skin flush against his.
Your boyfriend sighed happily, loving how vulnerable he could allow himself to be in your presence, while still feeling perfectly safe. He took your hand in his and brought it up to his lips, covering every inch of it with kisses, then placed your palm right above his heart and kept it there.
Right where he kept you while he was away.

Dark Academia Aesthetic

Lost at sea isn’t that ideal, for you but Nathan seems to have other ideas! He takes your hand leading you to a large lake with so many autumn trees, surrounding the area. ‘Nate, what are we doing, exactly?’ You questioned, as he dips his leg into the water, you stop immediately, hands now on your waist giving him a glare. ‘I’m going for a swim, darling.’ He turns around, ‘care to join?’ He smirks, continuing to go back into the water. you didn’t even notice that his shirt is discarded on the path, right near your feet. You roll your eyes but going into the lake anyway, to join in with his attics. You swim to him, now in the middle of the lake ‘now this isn’t so bad is it?’ He whispers, right near your ear brushing some hair to comfort you. ‘Isn’t bad? Nathan!’ You dramatically outburst, ‘it is freezing,’ you scoff. ‘Come here then, Petal.’ He wraps his arms around your waist, cuddling you in the water, ‘let me warm you up,’ he chuckles, you let him share your body heat with him. ‘Nathan, I don’t know what your playing at! Because we are not dating.’ You stated, ‘oh, Yh well the fact that you got your arms around me says other wise Pretty girl,’ he winks laughing, ‘you like me, just admit it.’ You shake your head, going deeper into the lake together. He stops moving to hold you tighter, grabbing your chin and gently kissed you. You gasped at the moment, enjoying it as you and him actually like each other but just denying. Since you met the treasure Hunter there was so many adventures only you could ever imagine going on with him, from searching for maps and secrets, running away for ages to collecting treasures and jewels. You couldn’t ask for any better adventures! You kissing him back made you feel him smirking against your lips, gasping once again as he grips your but to slide his tongue into yours. ‘So will you be my Girlfriend, now Y/N?’ He asks sincerely, pulling away to talk. ‘Yes, Baby boy,’ smiling as you bring him back in for another kiss.
Cold Winter Aesthetic
Tumblr media
Winter wonder land was coming up in the place of love, Paris. Nate found a love note a few weeks ago, keeping it safe with him at all time. He smiled at the thought of a pretty girl actually liking him for him, not just for the gold and treasures he collected. He had a suspicion that it was the girl, that he really liked at a snow boarding event he went to last month. Figuring out that, she was the girl he lasted talk to, who smiled and is genuine with him. Plus, when he left he had a note in his pocket, all the clue do add up he thought. Walking in Paris seeing so many couples at winter wonderland, he might be able to find you even-though, the chances are pretty slim. He turns around to see the Eiffel Tower, stopping dead in his tracks he sees you alone in the snow. He runs to you, you look up smiling at him. ‘Hey,’ you say, smiling at his appearance. ‘Hey,’ breathing slowly, ‘do you want to go to winter wonderland with me as a date?’ Your eyes widen in disbelief, you was nervous that he would reject your offering of a note. ‘How did you know I gave you that note?’ You questioned, curiously. ‘I am a treasure Hunter, Darling,’ he cheekily bites his lips, winking at you. ‘Yes, of course, Nate.’ You kiss his lips, him taken back by surprised as he deepens the kiss ‘I’m glad we found each other, Y/N,’ he whispers in between kisses, ‘me too,’ you smile. Walking hand in hand through the snow to winter wonderland. After the event, you and Nate go into a cafe to drink hot chocolate together. Just the perfect first date!

tom holland x famous!reader
summary: the antics of tom and his girlfriend on the red carpet somebody teach me how to write a summary.
enjoy!
・°☆.。.:・°☆.。.:・°☆
“Tom! Tom! Over here!” calls a particularly excited journalist. Tom smiles as he heads over, squinting slightly at the blinding flashes of the cameras.
“Hey mate, how’s it going?” he asks politely.
“I’m great, thank you,” beams the journalist. “So tell me, how does it feel to finally be at the No Way Home premiere?”
“It’s such a good feeling man, I can’t even begin to describe it. We’ve all worked so hard on this film and I just can’t wait for everyone to see it.” Tom answers.
“Can you tell us anything new about the film?” asks the journalist.
“All I can say is, bring tissues!” Tom laughs, quirking a brow at the nearest camera.
The journalist looks around as if to scan the rest of the red carpet before asking his next question.
“And where’s the lovely Y/N Y/L/N tonight? She is coming, right? Everyone’s so excited to see her.”
Tom’s eyes light up at the mention of your name and he blushes slightly, one hand reaching up to rub at the back of his neck.
“She’s always running late,” he says, playfully rolling his eyes. “I swear she was late on set every day during filming. Jon Watts started telling her filming started half an hour before it actually did so she wouldn’t miss her first scenes of the day.”
“You’re kidding!” Laughs the journalist.
“I’m serious mate.” Tom laughs along. “But I just got off the phone with her before and she swore she was just down the street-”
Tom cuts himself off as a roar of cheers and screams echoed from the crowds situated at the end of the carpet. He loses his train of thought and can’t hide the grin on his face as he cranes his neck, catching flashes of your red dress through the crowd. You catch his eye and make your way over, smiling and giving the journalist a little wave. Tom rests his hand gently on your lower back, pressing a feather-like kiss on your forehead, his way of saying hello in front of the cameras.
“Didn’t I tell you she’d be here?” he chuckles.
“Y/N, you look gorgeous!” gushes the journalist. “That shade of red looks incredible on you!”
You blush slightly, leaning into Tom’s side. “Oh, thank you so much!” you say. “And the finishing touch of my outfit…” you reach one hand up and hook your hair behind your ear, revealing your earrings, each one a delicate silver spiderweb glinting in the camera flashes.
“I love it. And your purse is uh, an interesting choice…” the journalist trails off, taking in the small glossy Spider-Man themed purse in your left hand.
Tumblr media
“Oh!” you laugh. “Yeah, it’s…unique, shall we say. Really, it’s here to serve a different purpose,” you lean in to whisper conspiratorially, unzipping it and flashing the purse full of multicolored sweets at the camera. “Movie snacks!”
“Damn, which lucky guy gets to sit next to you?” laughs the journalist.
“That would be me,” says Tom smugly, holding you tighter.
“Y/N! Tom!” calls your manager from across the carpet, tapping her watch and gesturing for you two to move on.
Tom keeps his arm around your waist the entire time as you both make your way along the carpet, stopping from time to time to pose for photos and chat with reporters. As you enter the theater, Tom suddenly yanks your wrist, pulling you into a dark corner secluded from the crowds by a giant poster advertising the movie.
“Tom!” you hiss. “What the hell are you doing?”
He stands in front of you, wrapping both arms around you and leaning in.
“Have to say hello to my girlfriend properly,” he says, pressing his soft lips to yours.
You happily kiss him back, running your hands through the curls at the nape of his neck. He hums and deepens the kiss, tongue swiping across your lower lip asking for entrance and you sigh, pulling back.
“My lipstick, Tom,” you giggle.
He rolls his eyes slightly as he rests his forehead against yours, eyes filled with adoration.
“Hello,” he whispers.
“Hello,” you reply, resting your hands on his broad shoulders, simply basking in the moment.
“Tom? Y/N?” calls the slightly stressed voice of Harry. He peeks around the corner and rolls his eyes as he spots you both.
“God, really? I should’ve known you’d be hiding out somewhere sucking on each other’s faces,” he says, comically looking slightly green in the dim light. “They’re gonna start the premiere soon and everyone’s looking for you guys. Are you both decent? Presentable?”
Tom lightly cuffs his brother on the back of his head as he walks past, his other hand reaching behind his back to keep holding your hand. You hang back, knocking your shoulder into Harry’s.
“It’s a hard job you have Baz, keeping this one in line.”
He rolls his eyes yet again, closing the shutter of his camera as you both follow Tom into the theater and take your seats.
“Don’t I know it,” he grumbles, quietly reaching into your purse to steal a handful of jellybeans.

౨ৎ Project Partners ౨ৎ || ⋆౨ৎ˚ Nate Version ⋆౨ৎ˚ || Series Masterlist ||
ᡣ𐭩 | Warnings - Smut, theres like a lot of kinky shit
ᡣ𐭩 | Summary - Nate and Y/n get partnered together for a project, they chose to do it at the empty library.
Disclaimer - this one is a bit longer( 3,300 words) with a lot of buildup, good smut tho
Y/n sat in her homeroom, rolling her eyes at the way Nate was laughing so obnoxiously with his friends. He always had to be the center of attention, the one everyone looked up to. She didn't understand why he bothered. She preferred to keep to herself and not draw attention. Her long, wavy auburn hair fell over one shoulder, framing her delicate features. She wore her usual ensemble; a short pink dress, white ankle socks, and a pair of black Mary Jane shoes.
She glanced down at her schedule and sighed when she saw that she had been partnered with Nate for a project. They were supposed to meet at the library after school. Great. Just what she needed. As class came to an end, she quickly gathered her things and made her way to her locker.
Once she had her things, she made her way out of the school and towards the library. It was a quiet, peaceful place, unlike the chaos that was the school. The library was practically empty, save for a few stragglers doing homework or studying. She walked over to a table near the window and sat down, waiting for Nate to arrive.
A few minutes later, the familiar obnoxious laughter echoed through the library. Nate stormed in, his brown hair a mess and his clothes disheveled. He immediately spotted her and rolled his eyes before making his way over to the table. "Great," he muttered as he sat down across from her. "I get stuck with the cutesy little princess. Figures."
Y/n ignored his comment and opened her mouth to speak. "So, Nate," she began, trying to sound as professional as possible, "what did you have in mind for our project?"
Nate leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest. "Well, I was thinking we could do some research on the history of this place." He smiled at her, revealing a set of straight, white teeth. "That way, we can impress our teacher and get an A." Y/n couldn't help but feel a shiver run down her spine at his smile. It wasn't exactly warm and inviting.
"Sounds like a plan," she replied, trying to ignore the uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach. "What do you want to do first?"
"Well," he said, leaning in closer to her, "since we're here at the library, why don't we start by looking up some books?" He gestured towards the bookshelves behind him. "I'm sure we'll find something interesting."
Y/n nodded and stood up, following him over to the bookshelves. She began to search for a book on the history of the library while Nate browsed through the stacks nearby. After a few minutes of searching, she finally found a promising book and brought it over to the table. Nate glanced at it and smiled.
"Good choice," he said, reaching out to take the book from her. "Now, why don't you sit back down and I'll start looking through it?" Y/n felt a strange mixture of relief and annoyance at his tone. She didn't like the way he was ordering her around, but she supposed they were supposed to be working together.
Sighing inwardly, she sat down again and waited for him to begin. Nate opened the book and began to skim through it, muttering to himself as he read. After a few minutes, he looked up at her and smirked. "So, how's your life, princess?" he asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Y/n bit her lip, trying to ignore the barb. "It's fine," she replied, forcing a smile. "And you can call me Y/n."
"Oh, really?" he drawled. "And why would I want to do that?"
She glared at him for a moment before looking away, feeling her cheeks flush with anger and embarrassment. "I don't know," she muttered. "Maybe because it's my name?"
Nate laughed, the sound grating on her nerves. "Oh, please," he scoffed. "You think you're so special just because you're all cute and innocent. Well, let me tell you something, sweetheart." He leaned in close, his breath hot against her ear. "No one here cares about how cute you are."
Y/n felt a shiver run down her spine at his words. They stung worse than she expected. She wanted to argue, to defend herself, but she couldn't find the words. Instead, she just sat there, feeling small and helpless.
Nate seemed to notice the effect his words had on her and smirked. "There we go," he said, sitting back in his chair. "That's the expression I was looking for."
"oh shut up" she replies and rolls her eyes, reaching over his lap to grab the book. "let's get back to work, shall we?" she asks, trying to keep her voice steady.
Nate grinned at her, his teeth white against his tanned skin. "Oh, all right," he says, giving her a mocking bow. "Your highness has spoken."
Y/n gritted her teeth, feeling the urge to punch him in the arm grow stronger with each passing second. She ignored it, focusing instead on the book in front of her. They worked in silence for a while, each of them absorbed in their own thoughts and the information they were reading.
after an hour or two, y/n stretches a bit, tying her hair up and removing her sweater to get a bit more comfortable
Nate glanced up from his reading, his gaze lingering on her exposed skin for a moment too long. "Hot enough for you, princess?" he asked, trying to sound casual. Y/n rolled her eyes at the question "Like actually, shut up." she says, glaring at Nate
He chuckled, shaking his head. "Oh, you're so cute when you're annoyed," he teased. "You're really annoying." she says, getting up with her book to lay stomach down on the carpet behind him. "And you're really full of yourself," she muttered under her breath. Nate ignored her and continued to read, his gaze occasionally flicking over to her as she laid there.
"wait, can't we use this?" she says, signaling for him to come read a page in her book
Nate sighed, setting his own book aside and walking over to her. "Fine," he said, squatting down beside her. "What do you need me to see?" She pointed to a particular section of the page, and he glanced down at it, his expression unreadable. "alright, put that in."
he stands up, glancing at her ass, and then down at the book again. "That's what I thought," he said, nodding. "Good job, princess."
Y/n felt her cheeks heat up again. She turned away, pretending to study another section of the book. "Thanks," she muttered. Nate laughed and walked back over to his chair, sitting down with a satisfied smile on his face.
"You know," he began, "for someone who's supposed to be all innocent and whatever, you can be pretty sarcastic when you want to be."
"And for someone who's supposed to be all tough and whatever, you sure are a big baby," she shot back.
"its funny how you're saying all this while you're dressed like that." he scoffs "you should really shut the fuck up" she says, standing up.
"Or what?" he challenged with a smirk. "You'll what? Cry? I didn't think so."
Y/n's blood boiled. "Picking on girls isn't gonna make your dick any bigger."
Nate smirked "You know what, princess?" he said, leaning forward in his chair, "i don't need to worry about that, im good in size and shape."
She rolled her eyes. "Oh, please. You're such a jerk."
"You know what, maybe I am," he agreed with a shrug. "But at least I'm not some stuck-up little brat who thinks she's better than everyone else just because she's cute."
"i do not think I'm better than everybody else!" she says, moving towards him.
"Then why do you act like you are?" he challenged. "Why do you think you can just say whatever you want and no one will ever stand up to you?"
"fuck off, you're an arrogant little shit who doesn't know one thing about m-"
Before she could finish, he leaned forward, his face inches from hers. "I know exactly what kind of person you are, princess," he growled. "And I'm not afraid to say it."
Y/n's heart was pounding, but she forced herself to hold her ground. "And what exactly do you know about me?" she hissed back.
Nate grinned, his eyes boring into hers. "I know you're just as much of a jerk as I am," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "And I know that deep down, you like it."
The words hit her like a punch to the gut. She couldn't believe he would say something like that. "You're disgusting," she managed to choke out.
"and you like it, prancing around, trying so hard to impress me. honestly i expected better, but once a slut, always a slut,"he retorts
"You're such a fucking pig!" she spat. "I'm not like that!"
"Then why are you acting like it now?" he asked, leaning back in his chair and folding his arms over his chest. "Why do you keep coming back for more?"
She couldn't believe he would say that. "i fucking hate you" she says, walking into the back room of the library to finish some of the project. Nate follows her.
"somebody needs to teach you a lesson" he says, walking up behind her. "You keep pushing me like this, im gonna fuck the attitude out of you."
"W-what?"
Nate grabbed her shoulders, spinning her around to face him. His eyes were wild, his nostrils flaring. "You heard me," he growled. "You keep playing these games, you keep pushing me, and I'm going to make you regret it."
Y/n's heart hammered in her chest as he held her, as his breath fanned across her face. She couldn't believe he was actually serious. "You wouldn't dare," she whispered.
His grip on her shoulders tightened, and his expression darkened even further. "Oh, princess," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm, "I dare."
"you fucking won't, you're pathetic" she says.
Nate just laughed, a cruel, mocking sound. "We'll see about that," he said, and then he leaned in, kissing her.
A small moan slips through her lips into the kiss. His tongue tracing against hers, and his hands grip her hips, pulling her closer. She can't believe she's letting him do this, but she can't seem to help herself. It's like there's a switch inside of her that's been flipped, and now all she wants is more of him.
He pulls away, breathing heavily, and looks down at her. "See?" he says, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "You're not so innocent after all."
"shut up" she says, her voice barely more than a whisper. "You're just as bad as I am."
"Maybe we're perfect for each other," he muses, kissing her again.
"You're pathetic."
"And you like it." He says between kisses.
"No," she whispers, but her body betrays her. It feels so good, so right, to be wanted like this. To be desired.
Nate pulls away, looking into her eyes. "I think you're starting to believe it," he says, a knowing smile curving his lips. "And I think you're starting to like it."
"I don't…" she starts to protest, but the words trail off as he kisses her again, his hands sliding up her back, cupping her breasts through her shirt.
Her head swims, and she can feel herself giving in to the heat building between them. "Nate…" she breathes out, arching into his touch.
"That's it, baby," he whispers against her lips. "Let go."
And as they kiss, she does. She lets go of everything - her pride, her innocence, her attitude - and gives in to the passion that's been building between them. She's not sure how much longer she can resist him, or if she even wants to.
Their kisses grow deeper, more urgent, as his hands wander lower, pushing up her shirt and cupping her bare skin. She gasps when she feels his fingers brush against her nipple, hardening beneath his touch. He groans into the kiss, and she can feel his erection pressing against her through his pants.
She unbuttons his shirt, revealing the defined muscles of his chest, and he groans again as she explores his skin with her hands. He's bigger than she expected, and she can't help but feel a thrill of anticipation as she thinks about what it would be like to have him inside of her.
Their kisses grow even more intense, their tongues tangling together as they both struggle for air. Nate's hands slide down her back, over her ass, gripping her through her pants. She arches her back, pressing against him, and he growls in response, his hips moving in a rough rhythm against her.
Her head spins with desire, and she can feel herself getting closer and closer to the edge. "Nate," she moans, "I want you."
He pulls back, looking into her eyes, and she can see the lust burning bright in his gaze. "You're so fucking beautiful," he whispers before lowering his head, kissing her neck, her collarbone. His hands slide under her shirt, cupping her breasts, and he groans as he feels her nipples harden beneath his touch.
She grips his shoulders, digging her nails into his skin as he continues to kiss and touch her, moving lower still. His hands slide down her stomach, pushing her pants and underwear down her hips, and she gasps when she feels his fingers against her folds.
"Fuck, you're wet," he breathes, his voice husky with desire. "So fucking wet for me."
Her hips arch off the floor as he slips a finger inside of her, finding her entrance slick with arousal. She moans, her head falling back against the wall as he begins to stroke her in a gentle, teasing rhythm.
"Nate…" she whimpers, feeling the pressure building inside of her. "I need…"
He looks up at her, his eyes dark and hungry. "Tell me what you need," he says, his voice rough with desire.
"I need you," she whispers, her voice barely audible. "Please."
He smiles, and then slides his fingers deeper inside of her, finding her clit and circling it gently. She gasps, arching her back, her nails digging into his shoulders. "That's it, baby," he whispers. "Let go."
And with that, she does. Her body explodes in a wave of pleasure, her muscles tensing and relaxing as she cries out his name.
She clings to him, her body still trembling from the intensity of the sensations coursing through her.
"Get on your knees." His voice is rough and urgent.
She does as he says, lowering herself down until she's kneeling before him. He pulls his pants and boxers down, freeing his erection, and she looks up at him, her heart pounding in anticipation.
"Are you ready for this?" he asks, his voice low and gruff. "open your mouth"
She opens her mouth, feeling her lips part as she stares up at him. His eyes darken as he watches her, and then he groans, pushing forward, guiding his cock into her mouth. She gags on the thickness of it, feeling it stretch her lips and touch the back of her throat. He grunts, his hips moving as he begins to thrust into her mouth, fucking her face.
She sucks and licks, trying to take as much of him as she can, her hands gripping his hips for leverage.
"That's it, baby," he growls, his voice strained. "Take it all."
And she does. She takes every inch of him into her mouth, her throat, her body, until she feels him tense and shudder against her lips. His hot seed spills down her throat, and she swallows, feeling it slide down her throat as he continues to thrust into her mouth.
At last, he pulls away, his breath coming in ragged gasps as he stares down at her. "Fuck," he whispers, his eyes dark with desire. "You're unbelievable."
She looks up at him, her chest heaving with exertion, and she feels a thrill of pride run through her.
He pulls her up and spins her so her back is facing him.
"pass me my tie, baby."
She reaches around, feeling for the tie he wears, and then hands it to him. He takes it, his movements are quick and efficient, then he wraps and ties her hands behind her back.
"Are you gonna be able to be a good girl and keep quiet?"
She nods, her heart racing with anticipation. "I'll be quiet."
He smirks, and then reaches around to unbutton her shirt. "That's my good girl."
he turns her so her back is to him and bends her over. "ima fuck this tight pussy."
And with that, he pushes inside of her, filling her up and making her moan. he spanks her and stops moving. "i said no noises baby. Do you understand?" he says, yanking her hair back.
She nods, biting her lip to keep quiet.
"Good girl." He says before beginning to thrust into her again, his hips slamming against her ass. Her back arches as she feels the sensation of being filled and taken. She tries to concentrate on the pleasure, but the sting of the spankings mixes in, making the sensation both exquisite and painful.
"You feel so good," he groans, his breath hot against her neck. "God, you're making me lose it."
She moans, unable to help herself as he pushes her closer and closer to the edge. "Please…" she whispers. "I'm close…"
he slows his thrust down, killing her pleasure. "I said," he spanks her, "No fucking noises." he reaches down and grabs her panties, shoving them in her mouth to keep her quiet.
Then, he starts to move faster, harder, his thrusts deep and powerful. "Fuck, you feel so good," he growls. "Come for me, baby."
And with those words, she does. Her body shudders with the force of her orgasm, her muscles tightening around him as she cries out into her makeshift gag. He follows her over the edge, groaning her name as he comes, filling her up. he unties her hand from behind her back and ties them above her head.
"you want more, baby?"
She nods, her eyes shining with desire.
He grins, then leans in and kisses her neck. "I've got just the thing for you."
He pushes her forward, onto her hands and knees, and then positions himself behind her. His cock slides easily inside her again, and he begins to move, fucking her hard and fast.
"You're mine," he growls. "You always will be."
She moans, arching her back as he takes her roughly, claiming her body and her pleasure. This time, he lets her make as much noise as she wants, and she cries out his name over and over again, lost in the intensity of their lovemaking.
He thrusts into her, his hips slamming against her ass, her body shaking with each impact. The air fills with the sounds of their breathless gasps and the slapping of their bodies together.
He grabs her hair, pulling her back, and then thrusts deeper, harder, his cock hitting her sweet spot again and again. She comes around him, her body convulsing with pleasure, and he follows close behind, groaning her name as he spills himself into her.
He holds her still for a moment, his cock still buried inside her, their bodies joined in a sweaty, satisfied heap on the floor. Then, he pulls out.
"You're amazing," he whispers, kissing her forehead.

a/n: there’s nothing i love more than cocky nate whew! also friendly reminder to add yourself to my new taglist & happy reading friends
Tumblr media
you and nathan are searching tunnels to find treasure that’s supposedly buried in them. you’re in charge of navigating, and nate is leading the way. you’d asked him to join you because you two often pair up on expeditions. it’s hard to find people you can trust in this game, but you trust each other.
nate stops when you come to a crossroads. there are two tunnels.
“which way are we going? right or left?”
“um…”
your eyes scan the map spread out in your hands, trying to make sense of it.
“i can’t read this part. i think it’s in another language or something.”
“you don’t know it?”
“we’re not all bilingual like you, nate.”
“clearly.”
you can hear the smirk in his voice. surely enough, there’s a smug expression on his face when he turns around.
“let me check it out.”
you give nate the map. he puts the torch he’s using to light your path in a nearby holder and looks it over.
“it’s latin.”
“oh my god, you’re kidding.”
“nope. i would know, i’m fluent.”
“i thought it might’ve been latin, but isn’t it a dead language? how old is this thing?”
a chuckle leaves nathan’s lips.
“i actually was kidding. it’s just upside down.”
he flips the map over and holds it out to you.
“rookie mistake. cartography has never been your forte.”
you take the map and hit his chest with it.
“of all the things you’re good at, pissing me off is what you do best.”
“what are the other things i’m good at?”
“like your ego needs any more stroking.”
“it could never get enough.”
you continue walking, going ahead of nathan. nathan grabs the torch and catches up to you.
“so what does the map say?“
“i don’t know, why don’t you take over navigation?”
“because i’m holding the torch.”
“then i’ll hold it.”
“you can’t.”
“why not?”
“the big, strong man has to be in front to protect you.”
“can’t you ever take anything seriously?”
“where’s the fun in that?”
you groan and slide down one of the cave walls, slamming the map down beside you.
“uh oh, angry y/n.”
“i’m furious.”
nathan sets the torch aside and sits down next to you. your knees are pulled to your chest, face hidden in them.
“cheer up, buttercup. you know i’m only messing around.”
“that’s the problem. all you’re doing is messing around.”
you press your cheek to your knee, looking over at nathan.
“what we’re looking for, nate, it’s gonna be huge if we find it. i wanted you to come with me because you’re good. you’re really good, and i needed your help.”
“and since i’m so good, i don’t see the harm in goofing off every once in a while.”
nate tickles your side. you laugh instinctively, but push him off you. he looks you up and down.
“is that the only reason you wanted me to come?“
“no, i also wanted to share this with someone. with a friend.”
“who said we’re friends?”
nate smiles, a real smile. you smile back.
“you’re good too, y/n/n. you found the map, you found this place, and you’re gonna find the treasure. you can unclench.”
“maybe you could show me how.”
nate’s eyes lock with yours, then flick down to your lips, then back up to yours. you sit up and shift towards him. nate slowly leans in closer, never once breaking eye contact. his t-shirt is so tight that you can almost see through it, and the strong scent of his cologne is overwhelming. he’s always been attractive, but god, never like this.
nathan gazes at you though his lashes.
“can we be friends who kiss?”
you nod, instantly.
nate closes the space between you two with a soft kiss. your lips slot deliciously with his, and you sigh as his tongue finds yours, a hand on your bare arm.
add kissing to the list of things nathan is good at.
much to your dismay, he pulls away. he flashes you his goddamn infamous smirk.
“back to work.”

Acceptable Cliche : Nathan Drake x Reader
Description: 8.2k wc request from @theslayerofthevampires for Nathan Drake pining for a jiu jitsu black belt during a heist, only for her to get kidnapped and need rescuing.
Warnings: violence, kidnapping, guns, blood, fighting, cursing
Tumblr media
Key: y/f/n-> your friend’s name, y/f/a/d-> your favorite alcoholic drink, r/a/d/n: random alcoholic drink name, y/a-> your age
“Remind me why we need her?” Sully asked, his irritation clear in his voice.
“One, it is not up to you, this is my plan. Two, she is a black belt and can kick your ass if you step out of line” Kristin said, smirking.
Nate laughed loudly and covered his mouth.
“When will she be here? We need to get going” Sully complained.
“Morning to you too Sully” y/n rolled her eyes, “for the record, I’ve been here for three hours, you’re late, not me”.
“The kid needed extra time for his hair” Sully lied, trying to cover the fact that he was the cause for the delay by embarrassing Nate.
Nate glared at sully and shook his head.
“Hello, my-“ Nate began, holding his hand out to y/n.
Sully cut him off, pushing his hand down, “this is Nathan. First lesson kid, don’t let her touch your hand unless you enjoy laying on the ground”.
Y/n laughed and smirked, “oh Sully, still holding a grudge over that?”
“You see, he wasn’t introducing himself, Nathan, he grabbed my wrist to try and steal a map from me” y/n explained, facing sully next, “funny how you love leaving out the details”.
“Details or not, it was an overreaction don’t you think?” Sully groaned, Nate pressing his lips together as he tried not to laugh.
“I can handle you trying to steal from me, even when we’re supposed to be partners. I’m not naive enough to ever rely on you or trust you Sully. But, you crossed the line by touching me in doing so, now you know better hmm?” She smirked, tightening the strap on her backpack.
Nate watched her intrigued and wishing he’d been able to watch y/n force sully to the floor.
Sully ignored her and walked towards the airport exit, “let’s go kid”.
“Kid? How old are you Nathan?” Y/n asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
“I’m (y/n age + 2yrs) and you can call me Nate” he said, trying to shake her hand again.
She hesitated briefly, eyeing Sully before looking back at Nate.
“Y/n. He does know you’re not a kid right?” Y/n laughed, shaking his hand.
“I’m fairly certain” Nate shrugged, “I think it’s just a nickname he uses to try and insult me”.
Y/n hummed, “not your fault you’re not ancient like him”.
Nate laughed and nodded, his cheeks rosy, “he says it gives him experience”.
Y/n rolled her eyes, “if that makes him feel better about his age, sure. His track record has yet to make that matter though”.
“How long have you been doing this?” Nate asked, walking next to y/n as she began following sully to the exit.
“Working with sully or in general?” she questioned, looking over at him.
“Both” he answered, wanting to know as much about the beautiful and funny girl next to him as he could.
“With Sully, about three years I think, off and on of course” she smirked, “overall, five years”.
“Five years?” Nate asked, his voice low.
He watches as she bites her lip, “yeah… my… friend got me into it at a young age…”
“Oh, Kristen?” Nate asked, looking towards them.
“No. She is merely a coworker” she explained.
“So you and your friend went separate ways then?” Nate asked curiously.
“Mmm… I guess you could say that, yeah” she answered vaguely, not looking at him.
In fact she was staring straight forward but not seeing anything other than y/f/N’s face the last time she saw them.
Nate could sense he shouldn’t push so he just nodded, “I understand. How old are you then?”
“You know it’s not polite to ask a woman her age right?” Y/n pointed out teasingly.
Nate’s face flushed red, “oh..! Right! Sorry, no it’s just that-“.
“I’m messing with you” y/n laughed, pushing Nate’s shoulder softly.
However, Nate noticed while it was playful she had a decent force behind it even when controlled.
No wonder she’d been able to take down sully.
“Once again I’m the youngest, explaining Sully’s deeper irritation than normal. I’m y/a” y/n told him.
“Ignore him, I’m sure you’ve learned by now he’s just an ass most of the time” Nate encouraged, his cheeks still red from his slip up.
“True” y/n laughed, “yet, I hear you’ve been working directly with him for over two years now?”
Nate shrugged, “there’s worse people out there and we all need someone to rely on to have our back no matter who you have to team up with or where”.
Y/n slowly nodded and hummed quietly, “trust…”.
“You don’t have someone like that, do you?” Nate asked cautiously as they stepped outside into the humidity.
She shook her head, “it’s easier that way”.
“How so?” He inquired, raising an eyebrow at her as Sully glares at him from across the parking lot.
“No one to lose or be betrayed by. It also keeps you alert to everyone and everything “ she explained, her voice distant.
Nate analyzed her body language, hoping it would show something that explained what she was referring to.
But she clearly masked her feelings well enough to hide any signs.
——
“Fine, but I’m not going in to save you when it doesn’t work out that way” y/n argued, sipping on her y/f/a/d.
“You mean if, and are you even old enough to drink that?” Sully remarked.
“No, I mean when. It will go to shit as soon as you walk in there trying to pretend you belong there” y/n corrected, flipping him off, “and you know I am, bite me”.
“Just making sure Nate here wasn’t going to lose his bartending license by supplying a minor” sully joked, glaring down at the event flyer on the table before him.
“Sully, enough. She’s not a minor and that’s not even how that works” Nate defended, rolling his eyes.
“What do you suggest then?” Sully asked, looking up from the flyer.
“How good are you at undercover?” She asked Nate.
“I-“ he began, sully cutting him off again.
“He needs to stop touching his earpiece but otherwise he cleans up decent” sully joked making Nate groan.
“Says the man in camo shorts” y/n smirked as Nate chuckled, “moving on, are you comfortable going undercover then?”
Nate nodded, “what-“.
“He’ll do it, just tell us what to-“ sully sighed, interrupting Nate yet again.
“I was not asking you” y/n said, cutting sully off in retaliation.
Nate smirked, giving her a thankful glance, “I am, thank you. What did you have in mind?”.
——
“How is this better than what I had planned?” Sully complained, sitting in the corner of the cramped storage room they were using as a makeshift headquarters.
“You mean other than in every way?” Nate smirked, shaking his head.
Sully glared, “I’m getting fed up with your flirting kid”.
Nate’s eyes widened as he looked away from the group, “I wasn’t flirting”.
“If you say s-“ Sully laughed.
“Enough, we are on a time limit here. Grow up Sully” y/n reprimanded, irritated he was putting the attempt and potentially their lives in danger.
“Alright, so as long as you keep these facing the subject, Sully and I will be able to see your surroundings” Kristen said as she secured the microscopic camera to the knot in Nate’s tie.
“Y/n, you know the drill. Just don’t break this one please” Kristen joked with a wink.
“I’m not making any promises. We need to go, ready?” Y/n asked looking at Nate.
He smiled politely and nodded.
As y/n stepped into the hall, she straightened her dress more now that she actually had room to do so.
She looked behind her and sighed when she saw Nate had stopped to talk to Sully about who knows what.
She rolled her eyes, departing solo as to not lose their chance to find their target.
“I’m just saying, she’s trouble” Sully warned.
“She’s trouble when you cause her trouble” Nate laughed.
“I’m serious kid. You don’t know her like I do” Sully told him.
Nate suspected he was right but not in the way he thought.
Seeing Nate wasn’t responding, sully added, “Just don’t let her distract you. Get in, when we identify the correct person, help her lead them to a more isolated area and will step in to get the information we need from them”.
Nate rolled his eyes, “I am not going to get distracted”.
——
“Nate, could you spare a few seconds to actually look at the guests’ faces so we can find Johnson. Staring at y/n isn’t helping us here” Sully fussed through the earpiece.
Nate blushed bright red knowing they were all in the same communications channel so y/n heard.
“Shut up Sully” Nate remarked, hoping y/n would take it as sully joking.
He began quickly turning so the camera in his tie could scan the guests’ faces for to process.
Johnson was a twin and his slightly older brother (by 6 minutes) was the dangerous one.
The younger twin would have information on where the chest was being hidden without alerting the older twin as they no longer spoke.
Yet, they were both set to be at this gala so it was important they ensured which twin they were speaking to.
“Kid, you’re overcompensating now, slow it down so the camera can focus” Sully laughed.
Nate groaned quietly.
Nate followed as y/n guided the guest that had identified as the young twin to the hallway.
“Do I want to know how Kristen will get him to point us in the right way?” Nate whispered.
“It’s not through torture if that’s what you’re thinking” y/n assured him, “I wouldn’t agreed if that were the case. Kristen has a way of knowing people’s secrets”.
“She knows his then?” Nate asked a bit louder.
“We aren’t going to-“ the younger twin asked, his mind clearly sobering up as he turned to face y/n.
“Don’t finish that sentence” y/n cringed, hating how she had lead him on to convince him to follow her.
The man frowned making Nathan smirk; thinking about how the man was far too old for y/n.
——
“How did you know that?” Sully asked as the trio rejoined him in the cramped closet.
“Does not matter” Kristen said.
“My portion is done here, call me when you find the chest hmm” Kristen grinned, closing the laptop she brought.
“That’s it? I’m stuck with y/n for this? Why? You didn’t even need her, I could’ve gotten Johnson to the hall” Sully growled.
“As funny as it would be to watch you try to flirt with him,” Kristen said, smirking, “y/n is the only one I trust to be able to handle my interrogation suspects should I get their motivation factor or secret incorrect and have it go wrong”.
Y/n winked at sully tauntingly, Nate watching the interaction with amusement.
“Besides, you should know just how valuable she can be on a trip like this. Suck it up and find the damn chest “ Kristen pointed out, slipping the laptop into her bag and waving goodbye to y/n.
Sully glared at y/n, “let’s get out of here”.
——
“He really has it out for you” Nate admitted, joining y/n on the patio of the hotel suite the three had rented.
“He has for years” she told him, staring in the distance as she drank her y/f/a/d.
“Why? It can’t just be you hurting his ego and toxic masculinity. What is it?” Nate asked, concern evident in his voice.
“If you’re worried I did something to him, you’d be wrong” y/n defended gruffly, “it’s like you said, he’s just an ass”.
Nate sighed and took a swig of his drink.
“You don’t want anything other than y/f/a/d?”Nate questioned as she finished her glass.
“Why, should I?” She asked him, her voice back to normal.
“I mean y/f/a/d is really simple, the suite has a full bar and it’s on Sully’s card” Nate smirked.
Y/n laughed and nodded, “as fun as that would be, y/f/a/d is my favorite and somewhat of a good luck ritual if you will”.
Nate smiled at the fact she was opening up to him.
As trusting as Nate always was, and still is, he understood why many in this field weren’t.
Anyone can betray anyone.
Especially when it comes to treasures worth millions and millions of dollars.
Add in the fact he suspected something happened between y/f/n and y/n, and having worked with someone as untrustworthy as Sully before, suddenly her silence and the walls she built high around herself were more than understandable.
Whether it was the alcohol, exhaustion from the international flight and heist earlier, or her actually trusting him in a small way didn’t matter; Nate was just excited to get to know her more.
——
Y/n rolled her eyes as she threw her bag onto the couch in the shared living room space between their bedroom doors.
“You’re blaming me still?” Sully scoffed.
“Who else would be to blame Sully?” Nate argued, annoyed as well.
“You two are ridiculous” Sully argued, “she attacked me!”
“Because you clearly pissed her off last time you two saw each other” y/n accused, flopping onto the couch next to the bag.
“You did call her some… rather abrasive names” Nate recalled.
“Fantastic Sully. Any other exes of your’s we should be worried about running into?” She asked rubbing her jaw.
Nate walked silently to the empty ice bucket in their suite.
“You’re worried about my exes?” He laughed harshly, “like you’re one to speak”.
The look on y/N’s face didn’t go unnoticed and Nate saw the regret as it crossed Sully’s face.
He wasn’t sure what his mentor was referencing but it clearly was uncalled for.
“Y/n,” sully said, his voice apologetic.
She waved him off, “it’s whatever Sully. I had it coming”.
Sully sighed, walking towards her.
Nate wanted to hear the continuation of the conversation but knew she could handle herself so he chose to fill the ice bucket instead.
——
“Here,” Nate offered, passing a makeshift ice pack to y/n.
“Thanks Nate “ she smiled timidly, placing the frozen ziplock bag onto her jaw.
“You going to take care of your lip?” She asked, looking at the bucket still containing ice.
“There was only one bag, plus it’s fine” he said.
“Don’t try to be all macho Nate, ice your damn lip” she rolled her eyes, handing him the ice pack.
He sighed, “it isn’t that bad, you’re the one who got clocked without warning “.
Her cheeks flushed pink, “yeah, I hate seeing Braddock. It has been years though, it threw me off a bit. It won’t happen again, I’m usually better than this”.
“Hey, it’s not your fault” Nate promised.
“That’s sweet but your lip is busted because I was slow to see what she was up to. We’re likely going to run into her team again, and when we do, I’ll be better at keeping you and Sully unharmed” she swore.
Nate set his hand on her knee tenderly, “it really is fine. I’ve had far worse. I believe you, you don’t need to prove yourself or your skills to me”.
She smiled as a nonverbal thank you, “why don’t we share the ice? That’s the only way I’ll compromise”.
Nate laughed and nodded, “alright deal”.
Sully watched silently as y/n and Nate passed the homemade ice pack between each other every few minutes.
The one without the ice would talk about whatever it was they were conversing about.
When finishing their sentence or story, they’d switch.
He elected not to interrupt, already having already crossed a line with y/n earlier and having warned Nate to not get attached.
Instead, he simply reminded them the time they agreed to get up and plan tomorrow before he went to his room.
——
Weeks had passed with no progress, making the younger treasure hunters irritated so Sully took their group to a diner that night for drinks to get them to calm down.
“We’re not getting any closer to locating it and I swear if Braddock interferes one more damn time” Nate groaned, drinking the beer in his hand.
“To be fair, this is nothing. At least we’re all safe… for now” y/n remarked.
“What is it with you and Braddock anyways?” Nate asked as he watched her look over the drink menu.
“Nate” Sully seethed under his breath.
“It’s a valid question Sully” y/n sighed, looking up from the menu, “one I’ll attempt to answer after I figure out what the hell to order”.
“You may want to do the r/a/d, it is the closest to y/f/a/d, ingredient wise” Nate advised.
“Ugh, stop flirting and showing off. She gets it, you’re a bartender” Sully laughed, shaking his head.
“You know, it’s actually the only real red flag about him so….” y/n said, jokingly, “but as far as deciding on my drink order, it’ll do”.
“Oh, red flag hmm? How so?” Nate smirked, his crossed arms pressed on the table as he leaned towards her.
She shrugged, “in my experience bar tenders are all egotistical, and or, like to try to hook up with every attractive girl who walks into their bar, even if they have a girlfriend at home”.
“Max definitely didn’t deserve y/f/n” Sully agreed, shocking Nate at the change from his usual type of response to y/n.
Nate wasn’t sure what happened but the tone shifted and he sensed y/n was uncomfortable so he tried to fix it.
“So my bartending is a red flag, but my stealing isn’t?” Nate smirked.
She blushed, “I can live with that, so long as it’s not from me”.
“I messed up, like you said weeks ago, I learned my lesson” Sully defended.
“Good” she winked at him before looking back at Nate, “anyways, I was joking. Your red flag isn’t being a bartender”.
“No?” Nate asked, intrigued, leaning towards her again unconsciously, “then what is it?”
“Your hair” she teased, reaching out and ruffling it.
Sully watched as Nate’s cheeks glowed red as he fixed his hair shyly.
“Now come on, my hair is fine” Nate said after he’d recovered, “what is my red flag for real?”
She took a moment to ponder his question, Sully suddenly intrigued as well as to what she’d answer.
Nate knew everyone had red flags and that one might possibly see different red flags for someone than another person would.
But he really wanted to know what she felt his was.
Sully was simply intrigued as Nate wasn’t the type of guy y/n was around often so he was curious what her self-protective warning systems were focusing on.
“You’re too… caring” She told him, knowing how odd it sounded.
Nate nodded slowly, “okay. Fair”.
He didn’t know why she felt that was a bad thing (other than the possible correlation to her mentioning that trust was bad too) and some part of him wanted to change that perception.
However, he was sure to let her know he understood and accepted her answer.
——
It had taken another three weeks before Nate learned what y/n had been through and it explained a lot.
When their group searched a small nook in yet another random rain forest they’d ran into Braddock’s crew again.
Y/n kept her word and fought them off without Nate or Sully incurring any injury.
However, before he could thank her and point out he knew she was able to, someone clapped slowly.
Y/n froze like a deer in headlights, Sully reaching for his gun as Nate naively looked around for the source of the clapping.
“Well hello y/n, I see you haven’t been slacking” Someone greeted, Nate’s eyes finding a guy who seemed a year or so older than himself as he stepped out from behind some tall plant.
“Fuck off Chris” Sully snapped, pulling his gun from his waistband and pointing it at the stranger.
Nate watched as y/n tried to pull herself together, the pain in her eyes clear.
As she took a deep breath, her fists clenching at her sides, Nate stepped in between her and whoever this Chris person was.
“Mmm have you replaced me already, sexy?” Chris asked in a husky tone, sizing up Nate.
Nate didn’t exactly know how to respond but as he opened his mouth to defend y/n, the sound of Sully cocking his pistol echoed.
“Can’t fight your own battles yet y/n?” Chris asked tauntingly.
Nate again opened his mouth to speak, only stopping when y/n set her hand on his shoulder.
“Chris” y/n said, her voice surprisingly flat.
“Miss me sexy?” Chris winked and Nate wanted to throw up.
Based on the look y/n gave him before laughing at him loudly, Nate assumed she had a similar sensation.
“Still working for Braddock I see” she remarked, stepping around Nate and towards Chris.
Nate didn’t miss the way Sully took a step forward as if wanting to stop her.
“She works for me” Chris snarled.
“Sure” y/n rolled her eyes.
“You could’ve too” Chris sighed.
“I’d never work for, nor even with, that bitch” y/n retorted, “and you’re to blame too”.
Chris sighed in annoyance, “let it go, damn. You might be sexy, but fuck you’re also stubborn”.
“You tricked y/f/n into falling for Max and Braddock’s trap “ y/n stated, her voice clipped.
Nate noticed that she got into a more defensive position as if preparing for a fight or attack.
“You’re the reason she’s dead, don’t put that on us” Chris pursed his lips as he shrugged, his tone inconsiderate.
Nate eyed Sully, hoping for assistance to understand what was going on.
Sully shook his head twice as he neared them, “don’t listen to him, narcissistics always lie”.
“You’d know Sully” Chris glared, “now stop talking. My girl and I have unfinished business to discuss”.
“I’m not your girl” y/n shouted, pointing a finger at him, “do not ever refer to me as such again”.
Chris glared at her and shook his head, “we’ll see. Like I said, we have things to discuss”.
“I’m not discussing a damn thing with you” she responds, fists clenched at her sides.
“Don’t be like that y/n, we-“ Chris argued but Nate cut him off.
“She said she does not want to speak to you, just leave her be” Nate said, trying not to overstep but also stop Chris.
“And who are you exactly?” Chris scoffs.
“Enough” y/n declares, grabbing Nate’s arm softly and eyeing Sully, “let’s go guys”.
“I’ll see you soon sexy” Chris mocked as they turned to leave, Sully still pointing his gun towards Chris.
Y/n groans and shakes her head as they head towards their vehicle.
“Are you okay?” Nate whispers softly once their group was a good distance from Chris.
Y/n nods and gives him a fake smile to make him feel better.
“If you want to talk, we can. If you want to just forget about it, we can” Nate offers.
She gives him a small but sincere smile, “thank you”.
He nods softly, walking silently next to her so she can decide what they do.
——
“And Max was working with Braddock the whole time, and sleeping with her too, all while being with y/f/n” y/n continued , staring at the ceiling.
“Max cheated on her?” Nate asks, watching her facial features closely.
She nods, still staring up, “and he was the reason she got tricked into going on that particular heist”.
“The one where she…” Nate mumbled.
“Yeah. She was shot by Braddock and I… I didn’t make it in time” y/n sighs.
“I get it. And I know it doesn’t make it better, but it isn’t your fault” Nate offers.
She bites her lip and slowly nods her head, “I wish I could believe that. I… well I was with Chris at the time. I didn’t know he too was working with Braddock and Max”.
Nate’s eyes widen, “Chris was in on it?”.
Y/n purses her lips, glaring at the ceiling, “yeah. He and Max had it planned out that during that heist they’d manage to convince y/f/n and I to stop treasure hunting. The goal being less competition “.
Nate sighed softly, signaling her to continue.
“I think they thought finding out they were manipulating us or cheating would be enough to deter us. But y/f/n was determined to get back at Max by us finding the book first” y/n recalled dazedly, “but it seemed Braddock wasn’t pleased and tried to take out her competition more directly”.
“She shot at you guys?” Nate asked.
“Yeah, we had trouble with her and the guys throughout the whole heist but when we got close to figuring out the location, Braddock’s other men began shooting at us. She wasn’t pleased, she didn’t know where the book was either and wanted us to get that info before the shooting started” she explained.
“But her goons were too dumb to think that through. We managed to avoid nearly every shot. It wasn’t until we parted that it went badly. As y/f/n went with Max, and they were quickly cornered, Braddock opening fire as Max held y/f/n from escaping. She demanded y/f/n to tell her where the book was, but she didn’t” y/n sighed.
“So she shot y/f/n for motivation to get me to tell her when I entered the room with Chris, whom had pulled me aside during our attempted escape… I thought he was keeping me from the bullets, but he was trying to separate y/f/n and I,” y/n shivered, “but even after seeing y/f/n bleeding out, I couldn’t tell her, y/f/n made me promise to never side with Braddock. Plus we had a clue but didn’t figure it out all the way yet anyways”.
Nate nods, grabbing her shaking hand from the bedspread and holding it in his comfortingly.
She shifts her eyes from the ceiling to Nate and gives him a sad smile, “I got us out of there once Braddock realized I didn’t have the information. But it was too late”.
——
Y/n was certain hours had passed between her explaining the story to Nate and now.
He’d comforted her as best as he could, reminding her it wasn’t her fault.
That she wasn’t responsible for how it happened or for Chris having tricked her.
She didn’t completely agree, but she appreciated his support and attempts to soothe her.
She rarely told people what happened that night.
Sully knew, as he’d been looking for the treasure too.
But no one else knew what really happened.
Y/n was ashamed for falling for the trick and guilty for the outcome.
Simply having a third party hear the story and defend her was very validating and healing.
Especially when he would argue with her when she tried to blame herself.
She was fearful his motivation for doing all of this, especially given he’s in the same line of work.
But that night, for that one moment, she let herself actually accept human connection for a bit.
——
“Alright so it says two flights of stairs and then a left” y/n reads.
Nate nods, playing out the steps in his head.
“Okay, Nate will handle that part. But what is it I’m doing again?” Sully asked.
Y/n laughed and rolled her eyes, Nate smiling at how more free spirited she was after their talk a few nights ago.
“You are watching him, making sure no one sneaks in. I’ll be grabbing the next map from the basement. We’ll meet back here after “ y/n explains.
——
“You? Really?” Nate heard someone call out as he rounded the corner, prepared to find the hidden entrance where the compass was said to be.
He turned around only to come face to face with Chris.
Nate glared and kept himself from looking towards where the hidden entrance was, not wanting to give it away.
“Where’s my girl?” Chris smirked.
“She’s not your girl” Nate groaned.
“She’s not your’s” Chris laughed darkly.
“No, she’s not. She’s her own person. Why can’t you just leave her be?” Nate argued.
Chris shook his head, “I’m not done with her. You’ll see, she’ll come around”.
Nate rolled his eyes, “what do you want?”.
“You tell me where she is and I’ll leave you to whatever you need to do. She’ll never know you told me. My business is with her, not you out the old guy” Chris offered, holding his hand to Nate.
Nate scoffed in disgust and shook his head, “fuck off”.
“I only ask once. So now I’m warning you, tell me where she is or you’ll regret it” Chris growled.
“Not going to happen. I’m not doing that to her” Nate glared.
——
“Alright, I got the ma-“ y/n began, closing the door behind her.
“Oh my god, What happened to your face?!” She asked, staring at Nate as he iced his bruised face.
“That’s always been his face” sully joked, trying to cut the tension.
She rolled her eyes and dropped the map onto the couch, “seriously. Who hit you?”
Nate shook his head, “it does not matter”.
She glared and crossed her arms, “I thought you said no secrets?”.
Nate sighed, she was right, he promised he’d never keep anything from her.
It was a sincere promise but one she was hesitant to believe.
His lack of confession now didn’t help.
“It was Chris, bu-“ Nate began, seeing the guilt in y/N’s facial expression.
“Chris did this to you?!” She snapped, grinding her teeth.
“Fuck” She mumbled, fists balled at her sides.
“Y/n, it-“ Nate sighed, reaching for her hand.
“No. I’m getting you wrapped up in this. He’s an ass, but it’s my fault he’s here and hurt you “ She interrupted.
Nate shook his head, wrapping his hands over her’s, “stop. It isn’t your fault. Besides, these bruises are worth it to make sure you’re safe.”
She shook her head and sighed, “you don’t need to-“
He pulled her closer to him, “I know. Just stop. You are not at fault and I’d gladly do it again. You don’t need to go with him”.
She let herself be vulnerable and lean into Nate as she nodded against his shoulder, “okay”.
——
“Wait Nate, I know I agree to let you plan this one, but why am I the distraction?” Y/n groaned.
Nate laughed as they walked closer to their venue, “because are better at being distracting y/n”.
She noticed him blushing but didn’t understand why.
She sighed, “how is that possible? I don’t even know what I’m supposed to do to distract someone”.
Nate smirked to himself, his cheeks turning a deeper red, “believe me, I know”.
“What is that supposed to mean?” She asked hesitant to believe he was flirting with her.
He smiled and shook his head, “you’ll be great. Just keep him distracted while I grab the device”.
She pouted but nodded, “fine”.
———
“You don’t have to hide it” Nate sighed, sitting on the patio chair next to her.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about Nate” she lied, refusing to look at him.
“That you’re shook up from seeing him again” he says softly.
“I’m not” she scoffs.
Nate hums, “fine. I was though”.
She turns to face him, “what?! Wh-… wait was the fight the other day that painful?”
Nate smiled sympathetically and shook his head, “no. He’s not that strong” he blushed.
“No, I just don’t like the idea of him being near you after everything you’ve told me. I know you can handle yourself but I don’t trust him” Nate admits.
She watches him silently in surprise, no one other than y/f/n really caring for her this much before.
“I know you don’t have feelings for him, but it’s clear you’re still angry with him. I don’t blame you, I would be too. Hell, I am. He doesn’t deserve to be in your presence much less hurt you by his presence” Nate explains.
“Thank you” she whispers softly, still surprised at his tenderness.
“I don’t trust him. What does he mean by unfinished business?” Nate asks cautiously.
“I truly don’t know. Maybe the book? I still haven’t found it but I know Braddock hasn’t either “ she shrugs.
Nate nods slowly, thinking.
He grabs her hand and pulls her to the chair, so she can stop pacing.
“I doubt he’ll believe me about it though” she sighs, her body crumbling as she leans on Nate.
“Doesn’t matter, he’s not going to get what he wants” Nate promises.
She leans back and stares at him, her facial features showing her tiredness but eyes alert as she looks at him.
“What is it y/n/n?” He asks confused.
“It’s hard to get used to...” she admits, allowing herself to trust him.
“What is?” Nate questions as she lays her head on his shoulder.
“Being someone that someone cares for...” she says, her voice soft and quiet.
Nate frowns, “it shouldn’t be. I’m sorry”.
She nods and closes her eyes, letting herself trust him.
——
It was now a few months into this search and they’d gotten closer to finding the treasure but still needed a local to help them.
Fortunately, Chloe lived in the area still and Nate and Sully requested her help.
It took some convincing for y/n to trust Chloe and allow her to join them but Nate assured her she could trust Chloe.
Chloe had no hesitation joining, especially when she could so clearly see how smitten Nate was for y/n.
She’d never seen him like that before and since Nate was like a little brother to her, she loved being able to tease him about it.
Such as today, when they were all at the airport, trying to steal an artifact back from Braddock.
Y/n was currently fighting off five armed men, Nate squirming in his crouched position as he wanted to help.
Sully had tried to reiterate the next steps to him but it was clear Nate wasn’t listening.
Chloe smirked as Nate watched y/n in awe, clearly beyond impressed with her skills.
“Sully, he didn’t hear anything you just said, he’s too busy daydreaming” Chloe laughed lowly to avoid them being discovered.
Nate glared over at her for a moment before watching y/n again, a smirk on his face and wide eyes as she flipped a large man over her shoulder and to the ground.
——
“Ugh this is uncomfortable. How am I to move in this?” Y/n groaned.
Nate laughed, “you just need to distract them for a few minutes and then you can change”.
Y/n rolled her eyes, “easy for you to say. You’re not being suffocated by this damn thing”.
She pulled on the corset around her chest in annoyance.
“I will admit, I’ve never seen anyone look so cute and ridiculous at the same time” Nate winked.
She blushed and shook her head, shoving him away, “watch it Drake”.
Nate smirked, “just get the distraction handled and then you can get out of it”.
“Someone’s rather eager to get me out of this thing hmm?” She joked, laughing as his cheeks flushed a dark crimson.
Nate stuttered nervously, fiddling with his fingers.
“You ready?” Chloe asked, entering their staging room.
Y/n nodded, teasingly kissing Nate’s warm cheek before walking out.
Chloe busted into loud laughter as she watched the shock on his face and his daydreaming gaze.
——
Nate gritted his teeth in jealousy as he watched y/n flirts with some clueless men from Braddock’s team.
He knew they weren’t going to recognize her, having been far too drunk, and not very bright or attentive to begin with.
So he knew the feeling he felt wasn’t concern but jealousy.
He’d gotten close and had fallen for y/n during this mission, but he wasn’t sure if she felt the same way.
He could see it going either way based on her past and her behaviors around him.
So watching her blatantly flirt with the men, even if it was fake, wasn’t something he enjoyed witnessing.
He watched as one man held her waist firmly, his face against her neck as she played with his short buzz cut.
“God you aren’t good at hiding your jealousy are you?” Sully laughed as he watched Nate glare at the cameras.
Nate didn’t bother responding, what was there to even say?
Chloe laughed, “you know she’s just pretending right?”.
Nate sighed and tried to lean back in his seat but the tension in his chest wouldn’t calm as he watched another man put his hands on her.
——
“You okay Nate?” Y/n asked as she skipped into the room and saw his expression.
Nate sighed and nodded, “I am now, yeah”.
She raised an eyebrow at him but sully interrupted by asking if she snuck the key from the man’s coat.
“Yep!” She grinned proudly, “right here baby!”.
Nate smiled as he took in her excitement.
“Good, Chloe, will this get us in?” Sully asked, taking the key from y/n.
As the two talked about the next steps, y/n tore off the corset part of her outfit and smirked at Nate, “Wait, were you jealous?”.
Nate blushed but shook his head no.
Y/n frowned slightly, “You do it on purpose. I’ve noticed.”
Nate stared in shock, “do what?”.
“Pretend not to have feelings towards me. I wasn’t always good at noticing those things but I am now. I understand why I’d be pushing you away. But I’m noticing you’re the one doing it” she explained.
Nate frowned, “y/n, I-“.
She shook her head, “it’s fine Nate. We can’t help who we like, but it doesn’t mean we are always happy about it. I wouldn’t want to like someone like me either, not with all my trust issues. I just don’t get why you’re doing the mixed signals is all”.
Nate’s eyebrows scrunched as he stared at her, “that’s not what’s going on”.
She nodded and turned to leave, stopping as he grabbed her hand.
“I know you don’t trust me. I don’t blame you” he promises.
“The only reason I was trying to hide it” he mumbles nervously, “is that I don’t want you thinking I was doing what Chris did to you”.
Y/N’s lips part slightly as she nods, “really?”
Nate sighs, “yeah. I can see I may not have handled it right but it’s hard when…I… when I want to…”.
“Want to what?” She asked stepping closer to him despite her brain screaming at her to be cautious.
“When I really want to kiss you right now” he blurts, his cheeks glowing as he stared down at his feet.
“Then do it” she mumbles weakly, making Nate’s eyes snap to her face.
Without another word between them, Nate reaches up and delicately touches his palm to her cheek.
His lips cautious lower to her’s until they touch and both close their eyes in bliss.
The kiss is very brief but as they both pull back and look at each other, time seems to stop.
She bites her lip softly before wrapping her arms around his waist and pulling him closer.
Nate grins, a bright red flush on his face as he holds her in his arms by her waist, his head tilted down towards her’s.
He presses his forehead against her’s as they stare into each other’s eyes and souls.
Nate’s desire to devour her with another kiss is clearly displayed on his face but he still asks quietly, “may I-“.
“Please” she asks hoarsely, glancing down at his eyes briefly, “kiss me Nate”.
Nate doesn’t have to be told twice, instantly tugging her to his chest, his lips hungrily possessing her’s as if they were his own.
Y/N’s hand goes to his chest, pulling the material of his shirt as she tries to bring him closer.
Nate happily stares down at y/n as they catch their breath.
“Listen, I-“ Nate begins but is cut off by a knock at the door.
“Are you two done making out in there? We have news” Sully yelled through the door.
Y/n groaned, hiding her face with her hand.
Nate rolled his eyes and squeezed her hand before opening the door, “what?”.
——
“No, Nate you don’t get it” y/n sighed, pacing before him.
“No, y/n, I do. But what makes you think he’ll actually hold up his end of the deal?” Nate argued.
She shrugs, “I don’t know! But I can’t have him putting you all at risk to get to me! If I just accept and go with him, then you guys-“.
“No” Nate snapped, standing up and stopping in front of her.
“You’re not complying” he said, his eyes pleading, “please”.
“Nate” she sighed, shoulders softening under his touch, “I don’t want to be the reason you guys get hurt”.
“You’re not” he promised, tilting her chin upwards, “besides, him winning and doing whatever it is he wants to do to you, will hurt us more than these damn fights”.
She nodded slowly, seeing his sincerity.
“It will hurt me so much worse. Please, I beg, don’t give in” Nate says, brushing her hair from her eyes, “I will help you figure this out”.
She sniffled quietly making Nate frown and pull her to his chest as he rubbed her back, “okay. As cliche as it may be, I trust you. Thank you Nate”.
“You don’t need to thank me. Just please don’t accept his offer to go with him” Nate asked.
She nodded and pushed her hand against his back to bring him to her.
Nate smiled and kissed her head, thinking of a way to get her out of this.
No one knew what Chris wanted exactly from y/n but they all knew it wasn’t good.
And Nate wasn’t going to let her take him up on his promise to leave their group alone if she went with him.
——
“Hey, Sully have you seen y/n?” Nate asks, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
“No kid, she wasn’t in your bed?” Sully smirks.
“Not funny. I’m serious, she wasn’t practicing her jiu jitsu or reviewing the clues like normal” he says exasperatedly.
“Maybe Chloe has seen her” sully shrugs.
Nate sighs and nods, walking out of the living room towards the bedroom y/n and chloe were sharing now.
When Chloe answers the door, Nate peaks his head in to ensure y/n wasn’t there.
“Looking for something, or rather, someone?”Chloe winks.
“Have you seen her?” Nate asks, his cheeks flushed again.
“No, she got up early to train, saying she couldn’t sleep. She’s probably done by now though” Chloe told him.
“How early?” He asked, stopping her from walking away.
“Umm” Chloe looked at her phone, “maybe four hours ago”.
Nat nodded, “she should’ve been done by now. But she’s not on the patio or living room training”.
——
“Kid, are you still sulking about this? She probably went for a run” Sully groaned, downing his drink.
“Something feels off” Nate sighed, “She usually texts me if she does that…”
“Are you jealous?” Chloe smirked and laughed.
“No. I’m worried, she promised not to accept the deal with Chris” Nate spoke slowly, “but I don’t trust him to let it go so easily”.
“Wait, what deal?” Sully asked, leaning forward.
——
“I’m going to kill him” Nate hissed sharply, slamming his hands onto the table before him.
“I can’t believe you got her to agree not to accept his deal, she clearly hates him” Chloe gasped.
“I can believe it. And if you were anyone else I’d make you leave her be, but I know you won’t hurt her kid. I just wish we knew how he took her” Sully groaned, throwing his empty glass against the far wall.
“I mean, you saw her phone was smashed on the ground, and -“ Chloe reminded him, stopping when she saw the pain in Nate’s eyes.
“We’ll find her” she says, looking between Sully and Nate.
——
“Alright, what’s the plan?” Chloe asked, setting the map of Braddock’s facility before them.
“We get y/n back” Nate spoke harshly, “that’s the plan”.
“Nate, kid we need more than that” Sully sighed.
“No we don’t. Maybe you do, I don’t. I’m going in, finding her and getting her out” Nate said.
“And Chris? What stops him from kidnapping her again?” Chloe pressed.
“I’ll deal with Chris once she’s out and safe” Nate said, a dark tone to his voice that made sully flinch.
“Hey, she’s strong, she’s alright” he tried to comfort.
“You don’t know that. He-“ Nate shouted, his anger bubbling inside him, “he helped Braddock kill y/f/n. Whatever he wants with y/n-“.
“It won’t happen. We won’t let it,” Sully promised.
“Now, let’s get the gear we need and go” Chloe agreed, sliding a pistol over the table to Nate.
——
“Nate, stop!” Chloe complained, trying to drag him off of Chris as the two kept fighting.
“Not until he tells me where she is!” Nate growled, striking Chris in the jaw before getting struck back.
“Sully found her damnit, let him go for now” Chloe informed him since it was clear he wasn’t listening to the comms.
Nate instinctively flew back off of Chris and looked at Chloe in question.
“He said the notes show her being held in a room down the hall to the left, three doors from the end” she said and smiled as Nate sped off.
“Now, you think it’s okay to kidnap or ex girlfriend? She’s far too kind for you, but no worries, I have no problem getting revenge for her “ Chloe glared at the man before her in torn clothes with his body covered in scratches and bruises.
——
“Y/n?!” Nate shouted repeatedly as he sprinted down the hallway.
He skidded to a halt before the referenced door, nearly slamming into the wall in his haste.
Nate tried to open the door but it wouldn’t budge.
He elected not to wait for a key from Sully who was likely on his way from the archive sector after having obtained her coordinates.
Instead, Nate took a step back and then raced for the door, slamming his body against it to open it.
The room was dark and dingy, a perfect cliche for a room to hold a kidnapping victim in.
He glanced around, trying to get adjusted to the darkness.
He noticed a body slumped against the wall, gripping something.
Nate rushed over to her, dropping to his knees before her.
She was covered in bruises, dirt, scratches and cuts, hair tangled, and looked all around exhausted.
He saw her eyes were unfocused and something was sticking into her arm.
He looked and realized they’d been keeping her medicated with some solution; cowards.
Nate delicately placed his hand over the IV site as his other hand quickly pulled the needle out so the medicine would stop entering her body.
She screeched, raising her arms and Nate was impressed as he saw even in her dazed state she’d managed to find a scrap of metal she was going to use as a weapon.
Nate frowned and went to comfort her but she pushed him away, scratching his back with the makeshift tool, “go the fuck away! I won’t ever work with you Chris”.
Nate sighed and his heart dropped to his stomach, “love, y/n/n, it’s Nate. I promise, you’re safe”.
Y/n froze briefly before slipping the metal between her ring and pinky finger as she touched Nate’s face.
“It’s really blurry” she said, relaxing when she felt it wasn’t Chris.
Nate nodded to himself, “I figured. But listen, it’s okay. Alright? I’m going to get you out of here”.
“Wait. Are you hurt?” She asked, feeling a scratch on his cheek as it kept bleeding.
“You should see the other guys” Nate laughed.
“Ugh” She complained, knowing full well he was only trying to get her to relax, “That’s such a cliche Nate“.
He chuckled, “it’s true, they’re all far worse off. Now, come on, you need out of here “.
Y/n sighed frustratedly, “you know I don’t need a prince in shining armor to ‘rescue’ me. That’s another a dumb cliche”.
Nate laughed at how she was starting to be more like herself already, “Yeah, I know, which is why I wore this dirty old armor instead.”
He paused as he looked at himself, noting his ragged clothes covered in dirt, soot, blood, etc before facing her again.
“Okay, you can’t see it I guess… but believe me, it’s dirty” he smirked.
She laughed softly with him, a small cough forming.
“Shh, let’s get you out of here yeah?” He asked, grabbing her hand.
“This whole thing is such a cliche” y/n groaned, a small smirk on her cracked lips.
Nate blushed and shook his head, “shut up. I’m going to carry you, now, ok?”
She sighed dramatically, “yet another cliche Nate”.
Nate laughed and scooped her into his arms, “You’re going to have to deal with it…I thought I’d lost you”.
“Missed me Drake?” She winked weakly.
Nate smiled and craned his neck down to kiss her forehead, “as cliche as you’ll claim it to be, yes. I did. I’m glad you’re back, cliche or not, I really do like you “.
Nate noticed her blush under the dirt covering her face, smiling to himself.
“Fine, I suppose that it, that we, can be an acceptable cliche “ She whispered, relaxing into his arms as she no longer felt she needed to fight.
“Acceptable cliche?” Nate pondered, “I can get on board with that”.

how about one of nate and the reader having to be dates for the auction and he starts to develop feelings for the reader throughout the night!
also this request from anon!
Tumblr media
suddenly i’m dead
talk to me about nathan drake
Tumblr media
you walked with your arm linked in his. you two matched perfectly and complimented each other well. sully had suggested that the two of you fake being a couple for the auction, just so it didn’t look suspicious.
plus he knew nate was secretly eyeing you during every meeting, so this was his plan for nate to grow some balls.
you stood at the bar top, his hand snaking around your middle and pulling you close to his side. you felt the butterflies in the pit of your stomach, his fingers softly rubbing up and down your sides. he knew what he was doing as he watched you suck in a breath, taking a sip of the cocktail you ordered.
“you two definitely look the part,” he said, taking his seat in the front,”if you sneak off, they might think you’re off to the bathrooms instead of the electrical box.”
you snorted and nate smirked,”so the whole bathroom thing is out of question?”
you whipped your head towards him and shot him a look. he laughed as sully cursed at him in the earpiece.
“just go to the box! both of you!”
he offered his hand to you and you took it,”c’mon, angel.”
the two of you walked towards the electric box, waiting for sully to tell you when the cross was coming up.
you stood against the wall, arms crossed as you looked at nate. he stood against the wall opposite of you, watching him write something down in his journal.
“updating your diary while you wait?” you joked, a smile on your face. he looked up at you and laughed, tucking it back in his inside suit pocket.
“something like that,” he said,”gotta write down my feelings down somewhere, right?”
“i suppose,” you shrugged,”also, what was with that whole bathroom joke out on the auction floor?”
he sighed,”well, i would be lying if there wasn’t a little bit of truth behind it.”
you shot him a confused look,”what do you mean?”
he pushed off the wall, walking towards you,”i guess what i mean is is that you’ve been stuck in my head since the day i met you. your smile, your laugh, the way your hair moves in the wind, the smell of your perfume, everything. it’s been stuck in my head and i can’t get it out, not that i’ve really been trying, either.”
you laughed, feeling your cheeks heat up,”nate-“
“i know you’re probably gonna say ‘i don’t date my heist partners’ or something so it’s okay-“
you cut him off by pulling on his tie, placing your lips on his in efforts to stop him and his ridiculous rambling. he was surprised at first, but kissed you back sweetly as you smiled against his lips.
“are you done?”
he nodded,”for now, yeah.”
you laughed and reached up to kiss him again, this time more passionately. his hands found your hips and pushed the both of you back up against the wall. you felt his tongue slip into your mouth, his hands roaming down to grab at your thigh.
you pulled away, your lips traveling down his throat and kissing his adam’s apple. you pulled away to face him, pointing a finger to your ear before silently telling him to be quite. he nodded, leaning back down to reconnect your lips as he pulled your thigh up and propped it up against his hip. he kissed down your chest, leaving a trail of hot, open mouthed kisses.
“the cross is next. where are we at with the power?”
you and nate jumped apart after hearing sully’s voice in the earpiece.
“great! be done in just a second.” nate lied, frantically pushing different buttons before all the lights turned off.
“great work. i’m on the move, just get to the car.”
you went to move towards the door, but was pulled back by nate grabbing your arm. he pulled you into his body, hands cupping your cheeks and kissing you again.
“we’re not done.” he whispered lowly into your ear before leading you out the auction house.

You’ve got to be kidding me. You think to yourself as your eyes land on none other than Nathan Drake. You’d hoped this would be a job without crossing paths with him. But you’re just not getting a break from him.
You can’t stand Nate.
That hadn’t always been the case, though. You used to be best friends and went treasure hunting together. You and Nate had been a team until he went behind your back. You never expected to be betrayed like that.
You live and you learn.
“Look who it is.” Nate smirks and you can’t help but roll your eyes.
“I’m not doing it for the money, sweetheart.” You hate it when he calls you sweetheart and he knows it. You try not to show how much it annoys you as you take a sip from your drink. You wanted to unwind at a bar before leaving for the jungle tomorrow morning. But now Nate’s here and it’s stressing you out.
You put the glass back down on the bar and rest your elbow against the wooden surface. “Oh, really? Does your bartending gig really pay that well?”
“Someone’s been keeping an eye on me, huh?” As a matter of fact, you have. You’re not proud of it, but Nate has been a thorn in your side for years and as much as you’d like to forget about him, you need to keep tabs on him so you can stay ahead of him.
“Of course, I need to make sure you’re staying away from me.”
“You sure that’s the reason?” He raises one eyebrow and you’ve already had enough of him. It’s not even been five minutes.
“I’m sure.”
He leans in so close you can smell him. You hate to admit it but he smells divine.
“It’s okay, sweetheart. I’ve been keeping an eye on you as well.” A shiver runs down your spine but you try to ignore it. Nate doesn’t deserve these reactions from you. But your body doesn’t seem to care.
“When are you leaving?” You ask, and finally, he puts more distance between you.
“This bar? Why? You wanna come to my hotel room with me?” He smirks and you ball your fists in anger.
“You know what I mean.”
He tilts his head to the side. “Bummer. We could have a lot of fun Y/N.” He knocks on the the bar, turns around and then he’s gone. Without telling you when he’s leaving.
You mutter a few curses under your breath. It would be best to leave as soon as possible, but you have to wait for your boss to give you the final clue to find the treasure.

Hey, could you please write one for Nathan Drake, where they in some kind of danger, and he has to choose between Chloe and reader, and he end up choosing reader and is all love and fluffy, pretty please
a jump around our feelings | nathan drake x reader
Tumblr media
❥ request: yes❥ pairing: nathan drake x reader❥ count: 1.1K❥ n/a: Again, i was inspired. I love writing for Nathan Drake. I don't know why it's so easy. It's not proofread so i hope it won't contain mistakes. As you see in the pic, we have our Sam with them! It was tense to write but i really enjoyed it! So i hope you'll enjoy reading this as much i enjoyed writing it.
Tumblr media
There was no other choice. You had to jump. Vanesco’s men were getting closer, always after you. There were four of you, there were twenty of them. Obviously, you weren’t enough to fight against them. And no, 5 men each was not really an easy task and certainly not an option to evaluate. Your feet were close to the edge of the cliff as you stared at the body of water about 20 meters below. Your panicked look turned to Chloe trying to delay the enemies, Sam at her side. Your breathing became even more weary, already very difficult because of your race and you stepped back, fearful. Nathan seemed to see him, his body instinctively turned towards you, the boy was agitated, pressed for time but really anxious to have to convince you in such a critical moment.
"Hey.. Hey, look at me. It’s gonna be okay, all right. Let’s take a few steps before jumping. Okay?" he tried to comfort you while his masculine hands were cupped around your face.  "Nate, I can't sw-." "Lovebirds, not the time to flirt. We have to go! " Nate’s brother alerted you as he fired one last shot.
You wanted to tell him you weren’t lovers. Since the beginning of this scavenger hunt, Sam had had the gift of parking a few remarks of this kind, raising the sexual tension that seemed to have established between you and Nate. But again, you didn’t have time for that kind of futility. This time you had no choice. The treasure hunter let go of your face and tilted his head giving you a look that sent a chill down your spine and you immediately understood what it meant: you had to jump now. It was like a look of defeat, of termination. You had no other choice. It was either this, or being captured by Vanesco’s men. And knowing the man, he was probably going to slaughter you, murder not being a problem for him. You took several steps back together before running and jumping off the cliff, your heart pounding, fearing certain death.
You felt the water seeping into your clothes, hitting your body, sneaking hard into your ears, your nostrils and also your windpipe. You came up to the surface to feel yourself again at the bottom. Your head struggled to find the necessary air but every time you were out of the water, you would swallow the cup. Your attempts to wave your arms to stay afloat became futile and you became more and more breathless.
"Nate" you managed to scream between strangulation.
He had already been in this situation: finding himself underwater, fighting for his own life while saving his teammate. Except this time it was a little different. Chloe had hit her arm against a rock while jumping, fortunately it was only her arm. But she was struggling to swim, blood was flowing around you. And you were literally drowning.
He had a choice: Chloe or you. Nate changed the situation. Each of you was drowning, but you were geographically closer to him, and in a pretty critical state. His chocolate look looked for the eyes of his brother who was barely rising to the surface. He was the last to jump.
"Sam! Take care of Chloe! I'll take Y/N"
You didn’t hear anything after that. Your head again dipping into the water, the salty burn still passing through your windpipe before you lost consciousness. Nate didn’t wait another second before swimming in your direction, diving to your rescue. The cliff had an underground cave that would allow you to take shelter.
He dropped your body on the ground while Sam was in charge of Chloe’s first rescue, their worried looks on you two. The sand stuck to your clothes, but what mattered. At least you had a few minutes, maybe a few hours before Vanesco’s men found you... That didn’t mean you had any time. Nate was kneeling iin front of you, slightly panicked not to see you regain consciousness. Hell no, you couldn’t die here... he wouldn’t let you die.
"Come on Y/N. Breathe"
The treasure hunter first slapped your cheeks multiple times, unsuccessfully. It had to be quick but effective. And although he had followed some resuscitation courts at the orphanage...he had not really been able to put them into practice since then. His hands landed on your chest where he started CPR.
"That’s not how I imagined our first kiss, love... Come on, breathe," he partly joked while he was giving a first breath, under his still worried but amused brother’s eyes.
You had no reaction and Nate was trying to keep up with his CPR without breaking any ribs. He put his strength and conviction into it. Sam exchanged a look with Chloe, really worried about the situation.
"Come on, treasure. Breathe, damn it!" he almost cried over your unconscious body "Nate..." "NO! I won’t let her die here, Sam, do you hear me?" Nate shouted with rage to his brother.
One more push, one more breath. It seemed like a long time before your body produced a violent burst as you spewed up the accumulated water in your lungs.
The treasure hunter fell back a little, sighing with relief. You were alive. One second later, he was on top of you, with your face in a cup in his hands, his eyes filled with worry and a warm glow that you greatly appreciate.
"Y/N. I’m here…I’m here. Breathe, slowly… here, take your time".
Your eyes looked into his, and your heart doubled. Your hands have passed the barrier of his arms to take his own face in a cup. Your lips landed on his in a frenzy. Was it because he saved you? Because you almost died? Or was it just his chocolate eyes that were calling you so much and you’d been dying to do that for weeks... But here you were kissing Nathan Drake. The warmth of his lips was flooding your whole body, making you forget your wet clothes. Surprise passed, the treasure hunter deepened the kiss while Sam bent his head, little impressed, a little puzzled but the sneaky, playful look in front of the stage. Nate’s hands slipped on your side and it was too much for the oldest Drake.
"Okay. Still no time to flirt, lovebirds."
You separated from Nate with cheeks inflamed with shame by your burst of defiance in front of your teammates. You smiled timidly to Nate knowing that this kiss was probably the first of a long series...but that a discussion would be necessary at a more auspicious time. The treasure hunter rose to venture a little further into the cave, Sam has his side.
“So, kid. Was that what it was supposed to look like? Your first kiss with Y/N?” Sam laughed a little, the dimples of his cheeks dug by mischief. "Fuck off, Sam." Nate pushed him away from him, falsely bothered by the joke because he was secretly too happy with this kiss you just shared with him.
