Thank you! His design is based off of both native bismuth and crystal bismuth. Much of his personality matches the healing properties that the crystal is believed to hold.

He's a big sweetie, and jokingly (not so jokingly) called the emotional support ghoul (primarily to Secondo). I'm glad you like him!

Okay random drop of titan/kaiju vale thoughts, and yes this is just What If Vale Was A Kaiju, just a full on big ol' beast!!

The primary influence in their design in the prehensile tailed skink, my favorite species of lizard!! A full body pic can be seen here of these lads!!

As a kaiju, Vale is Relatively Small Sort of!! They're shorter than Kong and definitely not as long as Goji. They're around 275ft/83.82m long, with about 137.5ft/41.91m of that being their tail! Just like the skink, their tail is about half of their body length!! But the thing is! Vale is primarily quadrupedal, so they're normally just walking on their hands/feet and standing at about 90ft/27.43m on all fours!

I said they're primarily on all fours, but they CAN get onto their hind legs. When they're in bipedal mode, they have a stance much like Toothless here!! That polite/awkward 'hi im not supposed to be on two legs what do what am doing' stance

Vale's hands and feet are great and grasping onto things thanks to their very thick, durable claws. They're an arboreal species and rely on those claws to sink into tree trunks and their prey (a departure from the skink's normally herbivore diet). Their tail is very muscular and useful when it comes to climbing things, other kaiju, and also a great weapon as they can use it either to strangle or restrain an enemy. Vale's claws have a bit of a rainbow shine, like bismuth, to them! They can't fully grasp things as they don't have opposable thumbs, but they can dream.

Vale's arms are muscular but stout, better for keeping their body close to whatever they're climbing. Long arms just mean Vale is further from whatever they're climbing and more of a risk of losing control and falling. On their arms, they have this gradient/design going on with their scales.

Once you get up to their shoulders, Vale has feathers that start at their shoulders and trail towards their spine and then down their tail. These feathers are short and coarse, much like guard hairs on a mammal's pelt. Underneath the rougher feathers are much softer, downy feathers that are useful when they're sleeping up in trees and they're vulnerable to frigid winds. The feathers going down their tail take on a sharper appearance the further down the tail you get, much like a bunch of porcupine quills that are GREAT as a weapon/defense.

Kaiju Vale is an omnivore, they will try to test bite things, even if it's a bad idea. Just to see if this thing is yummy or not.

Vale is a protector, they are social (just like the skinks!!). While they were not raised by a family group, they are very social and making their own lil found family groups!! They got their buddies!! As always, they are full of energy and very vocal too. They make a mix of reptilian hisses and rumbles, like a gator, and some more avian clicks/songs!

Their stomach is not as well protected as they're used to their body laying flush against tree trunks or the ground, so they're naturally protected by their environment.

Eyes are a bright, piercing green if you're in their woods at night. Vale is native to Skull Island because yeah maybe I think Vale and Kong could be friends.

I think I’ve explained this before, but I never get tired of talking about rocks so bear with me as I wax scientific about it again! The answers are hopper crystals and oxidation.

Hopper crystals are a type of crystal habit which form when the outside edges of a crystal grow faster than the center. This happens because of electrical attraction, a process too complicated to explain here but which I’ll inaccurately call “static cling on a molecular level.” Basically, a hopper crystal’s electrical field pulls in molecules more strongly at the edges than the center. As the edges of the crystal keep trying to grow bigger and bigger, the inside doesn’t have enough material to fill itself in, so you end up with a hollow, boxy, funnel shape that resembles a grain hopper! This shape is not unique to bismuth; plenty of other crystals can form like this. Some examples would be halite (salt), galena (lead ore) and gold (gold).

Oxidation (in the context of geology) is a chemical reaction between oxygen and some other substance. It’s actually a process you see all the time - when iron is exposed to oxygen, it undergoes a chemical reaction that turns it into iron oxide (rust). That’s oxidation! Bismuth is also a metal that oxidizes. When exposed to the air, its surface undergoes a chemical reaction and turns into a thin film of bismuth oxide. When light passes through this microscopic layer, it’s affected by thin-film interference, which is again too complicated an optical phenomenon to explain here, but it’s the same thing that causes oil slicks and soap bubbles to look iridescent.

The reason lab-grown bismuth crystals look iridescent and native bismuth looks grey is because you’re seeing bismuth which has only just started oxidizing. If allowed to continue reacting to the air, that film of bismuth oxide will grow thicker and darker, eventually turning a dull, uniform grey. When lab-grown bismuth crystals are produced, they’re given a coating of varnish to seal them from the air and stop their oxidation, so they always stay in the pretty iridescent stage of the reaction. Some places on the internet mistakenly claim that it’s the varnish itself that causes the color - like it’s some manmade iridescent coating. But that iridescence is naturally occurring! It just had some help to stay that way.

Bismuth (Lab grown Varient)

Bismuth occurs as a native metal but can also be manufactured in a lab as is the case with the pictured specimen.

This mineral was first described in 1450 by a German monk named Basil Valentine.

Natural Bismuth is often found with other elements and forms indistinct crystals usually in parralel groupings.

Hard, brittle and lustrous it can also be found in grains and foliated masses.

Natural Busmuth is usually silver-white with a reddish tinge and occassionlly an iridescent tarnish.

Lab grown Bismuth is common and easily obtainable for a decent price and can make for a rather pretty addition to your collection.

That would be TTOU Big Finish Snippet: Workplace Security [AO3] with its all of THREE KUDOS! *paper confetti* I really enjoyed writing something for The Thick of UNIT that was Jamie, Sam, and Bismuth. One of the great things about both Doctor Who and The Thick of It is the side characters and what they can bring to the story. While Doctor Who is able to access all of time and space with its side characters and give us more Human voices to lean upon for anywhere from an episode to a whole series/season, the side characters in The Thick of It give us a sense of just how many cogs are in the system and how big and far-reaching everything is, especially what the ministers and aides are cocking up. It's a reminder of all the banal shit in a government or other large organization and how much of said shit happens and yet you have to carry on best you can. Here we're able to explore all of those concepts in a short audio script fic that has no shortage of Bismuth attempting to figure things out, Sam being a sort of grounding force, and Jamie being... well... Jamie. my next-least at five is the beginnings of a rewrite of an old One Piece fic i haven't touched in years and i really need to get back on that bc i haven't touched the rewrite in more than a few months lol i'm too many dozens of thousands of words into the conceptualization to just drop it at this point

💞what's the most important part of a story for you? the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, the technical stuff (grammar etc), the figurative language

I'm going to answer this in regards to fan fiction only, since it has factors that don't impact published original fiction and vice versa. A tough one, but I would have to honestly say it's a weird combination of factors that can vary if certain criteria are met. Sometimes I begin to go through a fic where something's not up to snuff and I'll go "I'll entertain this for now" and it's lead to some surprising things. Part of this I think comes from cutting my fandom teeth with varying anime as a teen back in the 2000s. One of the things that I think makes sense when you think about it but we're easily able to take for granted is that one can utilize fandom as experimentation and practicing and figuring shit out. For some people, that's learning how to write a story. Others might know how to make words do things (wording is hard!), but they need practice at worldbuilding and storycraft. Some are trying to figure out how to stay consistent with a character, while on the opposite end of that, there's shit so silly that it can't help but be funny. If there's the right balance, then there are definitely things I can look over, but too many infractions clashing with one another and whoops Nehs out. There's also people who use fandom to practice foreign language skills in general. We see it often with weebs learning Japanese, but it also goes with people writing in English-as-a-Second-Language too. I've seen some really questionably-crafted stories that were rife with spelling and technical errors, but the soul of the story is there, if that makes any sense. They KNOW the characters, they KNOW what they want to tell, they KNOW how to get everything across in every possible way, and probably write really well in their native language, but in English...? They're working on it. And that's great! Part of me wants to branch out into that sort of thing one day, but the problem is that the communities whose languages I'm trying to learn are already very bilingual in English. But yeah... because all of those things were so weird and fluid and just desperately wanted in Anglophone weeb spaces FFN that it made sense to take what we could and encourage others when it came to writing about our anime blorbos. I dunno about everyone else's experience, but I rarely was in the middle of flame wars, so most of my fandom experience tended to be pretty cool. Also, having ESL family helps. It's no joke that it's hard translating everything in your head before you say it--some stuff gets lost in translation... literally!

💫what is your favorite kind of comment/feedback?

In lieu of a mini book report like was common in my teen years (lol), I really enjoy the ones that take something(s) that the reader liked about the story/chapter and picks it all apart. It could just be that they really liked a line or exchange of dialogue, or mentioning how events are going and how that messes with the story, or using context clues to try to parse out what's coming next. Knowing what clicks and whirs and gets into people's brain is so interesting to me and I love getting that information because then that's stuff for me to figure out as well about my writing and how it interacts with folks. Bonus points when someone does it on a by-chapter basis and/or on older stuff! I do also appreciate when someone legitimately corrects me, lol, 'cause Lord knows I'm not perfect.

Okay so here's an update for y'all- I'm currently traveling on a planet about 12 million lightyears upwards from where you are currently.

The natives seem to be fairly welcoming of strangers if not a bit too friendly.. I'm sure it's alright.

I've found a few new species i wish to document so I'm making this first transmission numbered 1.1, the idea being that the first number functions as a bit of a chapter in our little story, so we begin the first one now i suppose.

Alright, I've rambled about numbers enough now the bit you are here for, the first species of my little journal- the natives themselves.

The Mineralites

Height: ~8ft up to 12ft

These are the major species of the planet, made up of rock and a plant based compound according to my scans. It seems that their interiors are plant-based, with some spilling out through cracks in the rocky exterior.

Interrogating the locals showed a mythological belief that the gem on their "heads", present on both the natives and their uncivilized "animal" brethren, [yes i believe that all creatures are the same conceptually i am literally a robot what do you expect-] contains the creature's "soul", as well as functioning as an eye.

I personally don't believe in magic, and intend to find a scientific answer to this soon. It seems to be made of a compound containing mostly crystallized Bismuth, with each mineralite having a slightly different and unique color to it.

The long and lanky physique I attribute to the planets weaker gravity and the glorification of height in mineralite culture, making it a desired trait.

An interesting fact I realized, these creatures are functionally immortals. Plants age, but don't die- they only fall to injury, sickness, or inadequate conditions. As such, finding a mineralite that has existed longer than my own interstellar journey (~12,507 years of mostly travelling) is rare but absolutely possible.

They seem fairly peaceful, living a lifestyle akin to herders, herding huge beasts which I intend to elaborate upon later. The plant portion is the only living part of their bodies, with the rocks collected over their lifetimes, as they grow.

I think that'll be it for now, I need to do more research about them and the surrounding flora/fauna, whatever they count as, I suppose.

Can you tell us about your OC, Bismuth, if you haven't yet? I saw your art of him with Copia and I really like his design.

I've talked a little bit about him before, but I'm always happy to reintroduce mr. looks mean but is actually giant a sweetie.

Bismuth has been around for centuries with the satanic ministry. He's technically a quintessence ghoul, or jokingly put the emotional support ghoul. Named after the native metal and man made crystal, Bismuth shares many of the same healing properties.

The properties of bismuth crystals are very spiritual, grounding, yet promote forward movement. They guide one out of their catatonic state, get them out of their head, and lead them into movement. The crystals are said to help with feelings of loneliness and isolation.

It comes as no surprise that Bismuth the ghoul replicates many of these aspects of the crystal. He's often tasked to personally tend to the papacy. His duties included spiritual guidance, as well as placating feelings of unease such as depression, anxiety, etc. However, he'd perform these abilities to aid his fellow ghouls, and others he sensed great distress in.

Bismuth became particularly attached to Secondo during his papacy. The sorrow Bismuth sensed in that man moved him in ways unfamiliar. Try as he might, the quintessence ghoul couldn't take away what hurt Secondo, until Bismuth realized it was his own heart that ailed him.

Bismuth realized he loved Secondo. He still serves the papacy loyally. He cares deeply, perhaps even loves Copia. But Bismuth knows he will always be Secondo's ghoul.

Franz-Joseph Müller, Freiherr von Reichenstein

Müller as the Austrian chief surveyor of mines in Transylvania was responsible for the analysis of ore samples. He analyzed gold ore from Kleinschlatten (today Zlatna, Romania). This ore was known as "Faczebajer weißes blättriges Golderz" (white leafy gold ore from Faczebaja) or antimonalischer Goldkies (antimonic gold pyrite), and, according to Anton von Rupprecht, was Spießglaskönig (argent molybdique), containing native antimony. Müller concluded that the ore did not contain antimony, but that it was bismuth sulfide. The following year, he reported that this was erroneous and that the ore contained mostly gold and an unknown metal very similar to antimony. After a thorough investigation which lasted for three years and consisted of more than fifty tests, Müller determined the specific gravity of the mineral and noted the radish-like odor of the white smoke which passed off when the new metal was heated, the red color which the metal imparts to sulfuric acid, and the black precipitate which this solution gives when diluted with water. Nevertheless, he was not able to identify this metal and gave it the names aurum paradoxiumand metallum problematicum, as it did not show the properties predicted for the expected antimony.

In 1798, the German chemist Martin Heinrich Klaproth isolated the new element from a sample sent by Müller. After a thorough examination of the material he concluded that a new metal was present in the sample. He called it tellurium, but gave the credit of the discovery to Müller.

At first the dangers of radium were not realized, and many workers died from radiation effects. Pierre Curie deliberately burned himself with radium to study its actions on the body. The main natural isotope has a half-life of 1,620 years. Radium has four naturally occurring radioactive isotopes, but others can be produced in the laboratory. In pure form it decomposes water, turns black in air, and reacts readily with acids. Radium is a brilliant white metallic element with a valence of +2 ( see chemistry). The radioactivity of pure radium proved to be more than 1 million times as great as that of either uranium or thorium. Pure radium alone was not isolated until 1910 by Curie and André-Louis Debierne.

In 1902 Marie Curie succeeded in isolating one-tenth of a gram of radium chloride that was entirely free from barium. They announced in December 1898 the existence of a radioactive element that they called radium. Since the Curies knew that barium was not radioactive, they concluded that still another element was the source of the radioactivity. By repeated fractional crystallization of barium chloride, the Curies formed a crystalline substance with some 900 times the radioactivity of uranium. In their work with pitchblende the Curies had found that another radioactive substance was separated from the ore along with barium compounds. Curie named the new element polonium in honor of her native Poland. This element was precipitated with compounds of bismuth, indicating its chemical similarity to bismuth. In July 1898 the Curies announced the existence of a chemical element about 400 times as radioactive as uranium. Aided by her husband, the French physicist Pierre Curie, she searched for this substance. Curie reasoned that some previously unknown element must be present in the mineral to produce this radioactivity. She began experiments with different compounds of uranium and other chemical elements for possible radioactivity.Īn ore of uranium, pitchblende, proved to be three or four times as radioactive as uranium oxide. I promised percy a copy of my olive brimstone shit even if we’re fighting. The norse gods while I was in the hospital and Loki was in a jar, made me indestructible to seven things. I was on a cart with them, and I saw things flashing in my eyes, as I made immune to several things. I think Balder is back from the dead as of now, so yay! I’m glad he’s home. Also the greek gods, helped me with some other stuff regarding my form and I used magick to introduce Hephestus to Bismuth from Steven Unvierse. Because all aliens put to paper are real aliens. My gem is a rainbow heart btw. Since I have a form for every species! Also I feel like learning french for the hell of it. Woui Woui Bitch. 

Now for an explanation in several different culture as to how this is possible. All magick is science. Historically all science was magick why is it so hard to believe what we’re currently working with and studying is the same way? So a spell works by taking elements from around you, and pushing them into some sort of vessel for action, and than activating a reaction? Thus a spell is a chemical reaction formed, because each object on earth has elements and corespondents science hasn’t picked up on, sometimes even down to the atom, that can be activated via the intent of a spell. All science can be explained magicaklly and all magick and a sceintifc and chemical route. Rain cycle are the perfect metaphor for reincarnation. Metaphorically it works exactly the same way, and scientifically it is almost identical say for what is being cycled through. Shordiegers cat is the idea is that something is as it always was, and is in constant being while not even existing. It’s a theory in science circles, so when I say souls are rain and shoredigns cat, I’m saying they choose their fate, they are always their destiny, and the differences there in, thus they are as shreodgeirns cat for karma.

In Native mythology everything has a soul, and anything in the likeness of a person can think. This is one way you can call upon a pop culture spirit or the likeness of superman. He is a person, or in the image of one, thus he has a soul. That’s the native perspectives but it differs from tribe to tribe. Google it it’s not my job when explaining my knosis that is commonly understood to dig through links through you. Your interested? Here’s your explanation. Everything has a code. A molecule an atom. Even disases and fridges. Adams are a form of code, and the likeness of a code is in the image of a person. It’s elementary. So thus if it code it has sentiance that’s how brains work, we’re just top dog on this planet. Thus you can call upon anything. But no every single “thoughtform” or “fictional idea” of a person is an egregore. Egregores are a very specific type of spriti and entity, this isn’t commonly known or understood. Yes you can conjure something in an idea, but egregores are not always that. Thotforms aren’t even what these fictional spirits are. You can call upon a spirit in a masc, a spirit from an alternate world, a spirit from a channeling which is what most fiction is even if you worked really super duper hard to “make it up” /hs (half sarcastic). Thus theirs nothing wrong with writing shitty fiction because it really happened somewhere in the multiverse. Multiverse theory is the idea that all ideas that CAN happen because some things just CANT, is real elsewhere in an “alternate reality” a “parllel univers” and “alternate turn of events where things happened differently” thus resulting in a different world. They all exist bubbled together colliding sometimes even, and being their own unique copies of earth. When someone writes a story sometimes they tap into a type of energy “we’d call a spirit” that guides them into writing this shit. That’s what fiction is. Thus all fiction is real, just not always real here. And sometimes such as in the case of my friend Persues, that fiction is literal or prophecy that you don’t get to touch. It’s a real ass vision you transcibe and now your a best selling author rick.

So yeah, don’t freak out over it, it’s not a big deal. It’s magick. But it all has a rational explanation and yes even though I shoudn’t say this even the gods reincarnate. In my story I was the god to divine divinity, and I chose them, from earth, all fo space and time, and yes even other planets where they were as you and I were. The reason I’m so special as Olive fuking Brimstone isn’t because I signed a pact, it’s because I’m not human and I never was. Your planet is strange! You have poverty, politics, and crisis! You have oceans and dear and some people can only dream of that! I’ve traveled the stars I can tell you certainly. You have magick and don’t have peace, and have war and famine, And these are all good things! Other planets laugh but also marvel at earth and they’ve been here, after all I’m speaking to you as deity and something more. Blue blue blue blue blue (that’s an inside joke towards other for me). But because of how earth is, you cannot understand. Until the contact is made which I have arranged for you. Muses cause magick and ideas and chaneling. Now to time travel is rather simple. I went with Zone Captor to this event: We drank shampagin it was fun. We told not to write anything down, I was the chubby boy at the time. Now it’s fine to come out with those results but given teh warning we gave them they will probably choose not too.
