In South India, we do not experience fall or autumn, but as we move towards into our moderate winter, the sunsets turn golden along with the green around slowly aging into dry shades of Gold.

I stood here awestruck reflecting on the moment of time as it shifts from one season to another.

My first memory of an encounter with a plant is at age 5. I was playing with my rabbit in our backyard. I got on my hands & knees making my body small and mimickey his movements. He ate some Red Clover. I hesitated for a moment not sure if I should do the same. I picked it up to take a closer look. Noticing all it's small petals and their colors. Can I eat this to? I took a nibble. Curious, I layed my head on the ground to see what else he was eating. I remember picking it for my rabbit and bringing it to his cage on a raining day. I saved one for myself to eat with him. He loved it and it made me happy to share a snack with him. There was something about the moment with clover that stuck with me. I've heard similar stories from people's first memory of working with herbs. They were moved somehow and it kept them curious. This collective curiousity has built thousands of years of knowledge & experiences which we wrap up with a single word (in English) Herbalism. Recently someone asked me "what is Herbalism?" It was a truely inspiring moment because it reminded me that everyone has the potential for a new beginning towards the path of plant medicine. No matter how far people have gotten away from in the last 100+ years, curiousity will always bring people back to plants! #day232 #366 Photo 1. And swipe to see short film of them too. . Two beautiful graceful swans. . This summer the two swans that lived on this part of the canal produced seven cygnets. The male was extremely protective and both swans seemed to be good parents. . It’s been really lovely to watch the family grow. We and many others have been feeding them most days, they brought a lot of delight to many people. . Suddenly, the whole family disappeared. . We are all heartbroken. . The canal had been very busy over the hot weekend, lots of people having fun in inflatable canoes, lads jumping in, fishing, walkers, cyclists, joggers and boats - it was the last few days of the heatwave. . Then, a local fisherman shared a photo in the local Facebook group of two adult swans and seven cygnets happily settled on the bank of a nearby lake. . . Then a day or so later, one swan was seen calling for others. (Heart wrenching sound). . Then a day or so later a second swan joined the first. . We don’t actually know if these are the original pair who have either lost or driven away their cygnets, or a new pair that have found a new territory. . . We are hoping it’s a new pair and the original pair and cygnets are happy on the lake. . . The swan sanctuary had no news. . If the cygnets went missing, this is the 2nd year it’s happened, they lost one cygnet last year. . We are hoping that the original family did move to the lake as they had outgrown the canal, and it had just got too hot and busy here. .
