My favorite thing about the nautilus ark was that they all had perfect scifi survival horror archetypes for their characters and everything that happened was the epitome of the scifi survival horror genre - except that the characters just… weren’t dumb and worked together. That’s the only difference. No unnecessary betrayals or stupid secrets, just “hey boss here’s this problem let’s work together and fix it!” I loved this oneshot so much.
Anyway, Dr. Wiser asked Mother if all the ship’s data was backed up before his pod took off, and she confirmed that everything was saved. So,, please consider,, all the code for Forrest’s personality and memories being saved. And computer scientist Ramsey Wiser figuring out a way to build a new Synthetic with all of Forrest’s programming as a proper thank you--
Ashley Johnson is the greatest of all time. I love her so much and she did a brilliant job gm-ing for the first time ever tonight. Fucking magnificent 🤌
Drew this after watching Ashley’s oneshot ‘Nautilus Ark’. It was really good!
Travis’ character Gunnery Sargent facing off with the space monster.
I had a lot of fun with the contrast and lighting in this piece. ‘Betsy’ was fun to design. I didn’t do a ton other than add a few lights and a little view screen. The muzzle flash is also blue to indicate the ‘kinetic rounds’ that Betsy uses.
The ending was not what I expected at the beginning, but it’s the ending that makes the most sense to me after having seen this play out.
Ashley Johnson was a phenomenal GM, especially in a game that she homebrewed herself. She said at the end that she was nervous for this game but for the most part I could barely tell there were any nerves, she did amazingly.
There were so many plot twists and surprises- some emotional, some shocking, some hilarious. Marisha and her character choices and acting especially had me in tears, I loved it with my whole heart.
I would say I’d give anything to have a full season or at least a longer side quest, but this was a perfect one shot and I’m always amazed by the talents of the Critical Role cast and crew
