Since Tumblr is eating asks, I'm not sure if you got this ask already, but who in Supergirl do you headcanon as autistic? I was wondering because of your tags about Cat being autistic. (I def sent this 10 times already but I'm worried that Tumblr still might have eaten all the other asks, so sorry if you got flooded with 11 asks asking the same thing! XD)
So ah, sorry about sending the same ask 10 times. I was misinformed about Tumblr eating asks.-it’s fine dude! dw abt it!!
and hm.
so of course we gotta start with kara danvers, love of my life, autistic superhero. she stims (lil jumps and rocks and pillow hugging which are!! adorable!!), she info dumps (mostly abt superman tbh which is honestly!! still v adorable), she meltdowns when she’s overwhelmed (see: the entirety of the red faced ep), isn’t great with sarcasm, a terrible liar, gets overstimulated quite a bit, trips over her words a lot, curls up in her cape and blankets, is v articulate w words but terrible at spelling (which yes of course could be related to the fact that english is her second language (which i wish they’d delve into more bc that’s fascinating) but spelling problems combined w how ridiculously clumsy she is are p big indicators are dyspraxia, which is common in ppl w autism), is very very very tactile
ok so we haven’t seen a lot of clark but i tend to always hc him as autistic so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
a s t r a. god. breaking into someone’s place to try and ask for help?? iconique. has no idea abt social norms, has a v formal way of speaking, has like. no idea what she’s feeling at any time which honestly how relatable. empathy who?? idk her. holds herself in a v stiff way. doesn’t know what to do w her hands. her only interest is saving the planet, and she doesn’t know how to convey that in a way that’s accessible to literally anyone else. has one (1) emotion and immediately starts a coup
(and listen i know that hc an entire race as autistic is unrealistic but also i don’t care kryptonians are autistic fight me)
then of course! carter!! honestly one of the most autistic coded characters in the arrowverse (just narrowly beating ray palmer, imo). finds it hard to hold eye contact, info dumps a Lot (but only to ppl he feels comfortable speaking to, else he doesn’t speak at all), isn’t great at empathy, speaks v plainly, finds it hard to joke and be sarcastic
and also. hm. i was realising that in one of my aus alex seemed to have? autistic traits?? and i was like hm that’s not canon. then i was like. wait a minute. bc alex danvers?? finds empathy hard (especially if it’s not with someone she personally cares abt), is pretty good in social situations if she has a script for them (see: absolutely freaking out when maggie first turned up, which like don’t get me wrong she’s 100% a useless lesbian but also not realising maggie was flirting w her? not understanding that maggie might not like that alex tried to celebrate valentine’s day when she flat out stated that she hated it? kara going missing so she just straight up dumps maggie bc she can’t deal w all these emotions at the same time?), has a pretty black and white view (i know it seems p morally grey to everyone else but like. either alex comes out w her sister or not at all. which seems black and white to me), doesn’t really touch ppl? unless she really trust them? special interests are kara and bioengineering and could honestly talk abt either of them for hours. bedside manner what bedside manner? ‘how to show i love somebody and would kill and/or die for them?? *punches winn* perfect’
winn!! me, through tears: kara and winn are autistic best friends and they love each other so much and you can quote me on that. talks in inappropriate moments, info dumps abt his many special interests (though mostly computers and pop culture), trips over his words a lot!! stims w his toys (also probably likes the noise typing makes), hates lying and is awful at it
also! now cat! i’m just gonna copy my tags bc i’m unbelievably lazy and also i guess not everyone’s seen them?? okay so. so!!! so carter’s clearly on the autistic spectrum y/y, people with autism tend to have other family members who are also autistic. such as their parents. and okay so hear me out!!!! bc cat???? hates change, has to have things Exactly as she likes them, can be pretty black and white, is Very good at being sarcastic but can’t always tell when other people are, is very easily distracted/annoyed at bright colours/loud sounds/strong smells, is very blunt and hates lying, doesn’t really know how to respond to emotional displays. cat grant is autistic thank you for coming to my ted talk

TOTP: Gary Green x Gideon
my NOTP too | I don’t ship it | it’s okay | I ship it hard | OTP
Firstly I don’t like the idea of them together at all. It’s not an appealing ship dynamic to me. Weird friends? Absolutely. But romantic/sexual? No.
Then we have the issue that Gideon is at least 75% of the Born Sexy Yesterday trope which makes the whole thing gross to me. And despite being an A.I., she’s also been weirdly sexualized for a while, even before she was suddenly human? Whatever her situation with R*p was was similarly weird and uncomfortable, but with fewer sketchy implications.
It also feels like: “We have a woman. What do we do with her?” “I know! Love Interest!” Like why would you even have a woman who wasn’t a love interest? What would be the point? We’ve long established that The CW doesn’t like women.
And Gary… so this bothers me for two reasons.
One, putting him with Gideon feels like it’s along the same line of thinking from the writers that led to him being retconned into an alien: he’s odd. He’s clearly coded neurodivergent. What should we do with him? Who could possibly like and relate to a weirdo like him? A Robot! Yes I know Gideon is a lot more than that but I’m making a point here. It’s about the othering and dehumanization of ND people.
And two, The CW in general and the Arrowverse in particular hates queer men. It just does. It accepts Ava/Sara because they’re both conventionally attractive blue-eyed blondes and it’s “hot” to see them together.
They will settle for making in-universe jokes about some of the queer male characters. It will throw us a bone occasionally in the form of a single line of dialogue or a solitary acknowledgment of their attraction to other men. But no relationships! Nothing that casual homophobic viewers will have to sit through and watch every week. We’d hate to scare them away!
John/Desmond was past-tense, their s*x scene was dark/blurred/shown in flashback, brief, and minimalist. I’m not even going to touch on the decisions they made about Ray/Nate. Leo doesn’t count because he was barely on the show. Now we have Gwyn because they knew we’d flip our shit if they replaced John with a heterosexual. But for good measure they gave him a dead love-interest and Catholic Guilt about his attraction to men.
Gary/John had mentions of a brief affair, but not one they would show on screen. Their kisses all played for laughs, their attraction played for laughs, Gary saying he “missed” being with John was also played for laughs/break of tension in a scene where John was already in a relationship with a woman so no real threat there. And half of the content for queer!Gary was only because Matt and Adam decided to throw the fandom a bone, not the writers. After John, it was Mona, now Gideon. For John it was Zari. All long-term. Just to help everyone forget about having to see men together.
This is absolutely not me saying I only want to see bisexual male characters in relationships with other men. This is me saying the network will only allow those relationships to be with women while their attraction to men will 90% of the time be treated as a joke, and I’ve noticed, and I’m not okay with it.

Fic: I'll Take Your Side
OR Five Times the West-Allen kids wanted to be normal… and Once when they decided normal is overrated, thanks to the support of their big metahuman disabled neurodivergent family.
(Gen with background coldwestallen.)
Read chapter 1 on AO3 here. One chapter to be released a day.
Happy Disability Pride Month! In which I headcanon that both Bart and Nora West-Allen have ADHD (like their dad), and I give Bart the same chronic pain condition as me (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a joint and connective tissue disorder. People with EDS are often neurodivergent, so it could happen). You might spot a few other disabled and ND characters along the way. Because we love our disabled faves, even if the Arrowverse doesn’t.
Characters: Barry Allen, Iris West-Allen, Bart West-Allen, Nora West-Allen, Leonard Snart, Frost, Jay Garrick, other Team Flash cameos.
Fic summary: It takes a STAR Labs-shaped village to raise a neurodivergent, disabled speedster family.
For @achangeinpriorities . Thanks for much disabled/neurodivergent headcanon encouragement and 'July spite fic' co-writing.

How will The Flash and maybe the Arrowverse will end?
With Carlos and Tom leaving this season, and Frost being written though probably temporarily, there is a sense that the show is maybe looking at the finish line, even if its at a bit of a distance away. I think its quite likely season 8 could be its last. However, I am more curious as to how the show will end The Flash. Clearly the original plan was that the Crisis event is what would be The Flash finale with Barry vanishing. But now that Barry survived the Crisis event, they can't very well have another Crisis to replicate the disappearance. Which begs the question of what will happen to the Flash. It is possible that Jordan Fisher and Jessica Park Kennedy are being brought back to plant the seeds of the future. But how will Barry and the current cast be written out. Killing Barry would be a bummer and their best way to do that has been nullified. He could retire and hand the Flash mantle to a Bart or a Nora, but it would be a tough sell because they have constantly claimed on the show that helping people is intrinsic to who Barry is and being The Flash is part of who he is. So they would need to some work for that to be convincing on a character level. Or they could just leave it open, that he continues to be The Flash but we just don't see those adventures.
I don't know what the plans for the Arrowverse are going forward. With Wonder Girl and GATC not being picked up and Arrow, Black Lightning, and Supergirl ending in the space of 2 years, and the Painkiller BL spinoff being unlikely for pickup in my eyes, The Flash, Legends, and Batwoman are the last three remaining Arrowverse shows. I know S&L is too but they haven't made hard connections yet and the style and tone is considerably different and they could easily change their mind and make it a self contained show. I have no idea what the longevity of LoT is. The ratings have been pretty bad for a while but I guess the CW doesn't really care about that. Even so, I would assume its ending sooner rather than later. Having shorter seasons and being an ensemble probably means the cast is not quite as exhausted as for some of the other shows. Batwoman hasn't been doing great with ratings either and its only in season 2, so it doesn't seem like a show that can carry the Arrowverse. If LoT, Batwoman, and The Flash all end in the next cycle, then I can imagine the CW just ending the Arrowverse altogether in another big crossover event and just kind of starting anew with various disconnected shows like S&L and Stargirl and then building up a new roster of superhero shows. They already have Naomi coming as well. But in that case, The Flash can probably nd its run in a way where we believe that he's still active but with the Arrowverse effectively over, we don't get to see it. I'm not sure which way they will go. I think Supergirl's ending will give an idea of whether open ended series endings will work or complete closure, like Arrow's ending, is the more favored approach.

The fact that L A follows 🍭 🍬 but she has yet to follow her back is both HILARIOUS and telling. L A is such an attention whore. And, given Gus10’s comment that no one likes her, it must be eating her alive inside that CP WON’T kiss her @$$ Regardless of what people on sm think about GR@nd!ce Pat10 has carved out her own career path and doesn’t need Gus10 to sustain her. Conversely, since he squandered his opportunities on promo for L A if he’s going to maintain his ⚡️gig he needs 🍭 🍬
We have no doubt it burns LA up that she has damn near everybody in the Arrowverse remotely friendly with Grant trying to kiss her ass or help put her on but then you have her husband’s “work wife” pretty much paying her dust. It truly is hilarious.

4. On your fandom.
Which one lmao....um, well X-Men? Cool, a lot of the fandom to some degree is drawn cuz they can relate be they part of some type of minority group. Don’t see too many assholes, I think most of the jerks that were on here fell off during nippocalypse. There is a divide with the comic elitists vs xmcu and it’s dumb. I used to be an xmcu blog cuz I WANTED to read the comics but I was a broke ass college student who had literally no access to that, but I’d seen Wolverine and the X-Men, plus the movies that were out at the time. If I’d let those asses run me off, well, wouldn’t have continued to build my comic book collection (I’d already read Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, I’m talking specifically X-Men comics).
Arrowverse? I don’t follow many of the blogs, I have a select few I follow. My fandom experience is pretty much my friends with fairly similar views so I can’t speak on the fandom outside of the fact there’s a loooot of veiled hating on women of color under the guise of griping with the crappy writing. I try to avoid it. I don’t hold with Iris and Cecile hate, they’re good characters subjected to the writing of white men, what do you want.
Star Wars? NOPE. Hell naw. No thank you. Bye. I have no interest. I make it very clear this is a “the prequels are the shit, TCW is a fucking joke and trashes the characters, not!Star Wars mouse sequels are non-existent, the og EU is not legends it’s the only recognized canon” blog, and I’m this unapologetically. I have extremely strong opinions, I’ve literally been in the fandom since I was 6, I’ve spent hours reading EU content, visual dictionaries and encyclopedias, concept art of the movies books, comics, novelizations, etc. If you’re a stan of the other...stuff, I’ll probably say shit that will offend you and it’s probably for the best you don’t follow me cuz I’m not censoring these opinions, ever, at all. And for the love of all things holy, if you want to call R*ylo okay, or Anidala toxic, we meeting up behind Denny’s, yo.
Supernatural? Kinda sorta, considering I don’t link Nil and Farrar to any of the show canon besides using some of the monster lore. Like we don’t do the appropriation of native spirituality on this blog, so there’s no use of W*nd*g* cuz you’re not supposed to write or say that, like no. I have major problems with the show, that’s a mile and a half long, past season 5 it went downhill, they really should have left Swan Song as the finale. The queer baiting and bury the gays, the trash trash trash finale, the way any poc and female characters are handled, there’s so much oof. I stay away from it. Honestly kind of nice to see the SPN crowd was mostly quiet, it was RAMPANT when I first got on here, and there was a looot of drama. The way the extreme crowd of the fandom conducts themselves with the actors and stuff tells you a lot. Another nope. I prefer to stick to fandomless urban fantasy.
5. On exclusivity.
If that’s someone’s jam, that’s cool. Doesn’t bother me. At one point I was exclusive to a few versions of characters. Not anymore, but I can understand how sometimes someone just clicks for you to the extent it rubs you wrong seeing a different version. It doesn’t stop me from writing with other people so I literally give no fucks and don’t see why anyone else should either.
20. On 'popular' blogs.
Here’s where I piss a lot of people off, and I don’t really fucking care, as having at one point been an even more actively sought out blog back when the MCU was taking off in 2012-2014 and having tons of asks and thread requests, I can more than speak on what it’s like being a popular blog.Technically still am, you don’t have to take my word for it, just look in my thread tracker, and that’s not even all the threads cuz some are in drafts cuz they’re starters and I can’t add yet.
There’s nothing wrong with people enjoying your writing and following you. Awesome, good for you. It often proves to be a lot for people and I don’t like when I see people biting off more than they can chew but still pushing for more followers and asks and threads. Frankly, it’s really, really rude. I get wanting to make people happy, or wanting to try new threads and stuff, but you should also be reasonable with how much you can manage. If I see someone complaining about having too many drafts and asks and then not being able to write because of the pressure, but then daily pushing their promo or their wire or memes...and nothings coming of it...and they’re admitting they can’t get their muse to reply...then STOP. “You don’t owe anyone anything” means you don’t owe anyone respect and obligations that aren’t due.
When you decide to join a collaborative writing hobby, you’re still committing to your partners to write to some degree. Now if that means you’re going to be slow, and super minimal with which followers you actually interact with THAT IS FINE...as long as you have that communicated and make it very clear to the people who follow you they’re probably just following to be lurkers. But I can’t get with constantly pulling for interaction then within the same day the whole inbox is being dumped, drafts are being dumped, the same three people are the only ones ever getting a reply for the past three months, etc.
There’s been times I’ve said I can’t plot right now, there’s been weeks I bump all the memes in my queue further down so that they don’t post so I can catch up. I’m so secure with partners I don’t follow back unless I get my rules code sent in (newsflash: 9/10 I never see it). I never post a promo. I really don’t need to, if I see someone I really want to interact with on my dash, I’ll follow first, but I can’t in good conscious promote myself when I’m at a decent spot keeping up with a LOT. Sometimes I’m really glad I’m a multi with OCS and mostly female muses, it helps avoid ever reaching the point where I’m just getting too many followers to keep up with, but giving yourself a cut-off isn’t a bad thing people. Trying to do too much is.
There, I have successfully pissed off a ton of people, but I’m not taking it back. There’s way too much immaturity on this matter on here, and it’s really a litmus test of the people who HAVE been in group hobbies that are interdependent of cooperation of all members offline, and those who haven’t. “It’s my hobby” isn’t this get of of jail free card you get to wave everywhere when you want to ignore people. You can’t pull that in most hobbies that involve more than one person, whatever it may be, if it’s a DND group, rec sports, chess, whatever. This is my hobby too. I just probably take hobbies and commitment to other people to a more...respectful level. If I have real life, or physical issues, of course that takes priority, but here’s a little secret...we ALL, like 99% of the community, have some degree of mental health, nuerodivergence, jobs, home life, chronic physical issues. I want you to single me out the mun that doesn’t have any of that impacting their writing capabilities to some degree. Please, find them for me. You having those things doesn’t make you special and if you can’t communicate that it’s too much, you need the “flood of follows” from your promo circulating but can’t ever write...I’m just sighing over here.
If any of these opinions rub you wrong, I don’t mind you just unfollowing, that’s fine. No one is forcing you to remain. I strongly believe the people that don’t want to remotely take it seriously, and the people that do take it more seriously, should just keep to themselves, that way no one is getting offended by the other for how they choose to enjoy their hobby. You should enjoy it, goddamnit!!! But NOT at the expense of stringing other people along. Communication is kind of essential here, as much as people want to go “I’m too shy, BLOCK”, but y’all I have ADHD, RSD, social anxiety (I used to live in an anxiety attack it was so bad), and I still do my best to communicate with people even on uncomfortable topics. If I can manage, so can you. And if you CAN’T be mature...and communicate...then mayhaps stick to fanfic until you learn how.

How Batman: Soul of the Dragon Pays Homage to 70s Kung Fu and Bruce Lee
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Batman: Soul of the Dragon sets Gotham’s caped crusader in a vintage martial arts homage. Directed by Sam Liu, who also directed the animated movie version of one of the greatest Batman graphic novels ever published, Batman: The Killing Joke, this is the 42nd project in the ongoing DC Universe Movies series.
However, Soul of the Dragon is an original tale, not based on a precedent comic. Like the eye popping anime-style film Batman Ninja, this is a completely stand-alone story. Batman: Soul of the Dragon is yet another chapter in the many creation tales for Batman. It tells of his martial indoctrination and joining him on this adventure are three of the best martial artists within the DC multiverse: Lady Shiva (Kelly Hu), Ben Turner a.k.a. Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White), and Richard Dragon (Mark Dacascos).
“It’s a 70s martial arts action-adventure drama with a great sense of humor,” says Dacascos. Like so many Hollywood martial arts stories, Batman: Soul of the Dragon is told in two time periods: the present-day problem and in flashbacks to the original martial arts lessons that offer solutions. It’s a storytelling motif that can be traced back to the pioneering David Carradine’s Kung Fu TV show and Bruce Lee’s iconic Enter the Dragon.
In many ways, Batman: Soul of the Dragon is a tribute to Enter the Dragon, when the Kung Fu and blaxploitation genres were at their height. Richard Dragon is an homage to Bruce Lee’s character ‘Lee’ in Enter the Dragon (just like in so many Jackie Chan films, the name of Lee’s character was the same as his real name). In some scenes, he dons a similar black catsuit as Lee wore when infiltrating Han’s subterranean lair but stops short from yelling ‘Wataaah!’ when fighting.
Enter the Dragon was a game changer for martial arts movies, but it was also in the wake of the popularity of spy films of those days, specifically James Bond. Enter the Dragon is also a spy film, and it came out at a pivotal time for the Bond franchise, the same year that Roger Moore took over 007 in Live and Let Die. The spy film genre was immensely popular during the Cold War of the ‘60s, but by the ‘70s, it was looking to reinvent itself to remain popular. Enter the Dragon had the potential to launch a spy franchise for Bruce Lee, but his untimely and shocking death cut that short. Tragically, he died just prior to the release of the film. In some ways, Richard Dragon makes us ponder what a sequel to Enter the Dragon might have been like.
With his groovy afro and jive talking banter, Ben Turner steals a page from the character of Williams (Jim Kelly) from Enter the Dragon too. Batman is faintly akin to Roper (John Saxon), a token white guy amidst a diverse cast. Even the funky soundtrack by Joachim Horsley echoes the music of Enter the Dragon’s composer Lalo Shiffrin.
“In the 70s I was very impressionable,” reflects Dacascos. “The music brings you right back to that time. I love it. I love Enter the Dragon.”
It’s ironic that Batman would honor Bruce Lee in this way. For many, the Batman TV show of the mid-60s was their first exposure to the Little Dragon. Lee’s earliest Hollywood role was Kato, the chauffeur of The Green Hornet, which became a spin-off series of Batman, running for a single season on NBC in 1966-67.
Who is Richard Dragon?
Batman: Soul of the Dragon is a complete reimagining of Richard Dragon. In the original comic storyline, Dragon was Richard Drakunovski, a Caucasian character. He first appeared in the novel, Dragon’s Fists: Kung-Fu Master Richard Dragon by Jim Dennis, which was published the year after Enter the Dragon premiered (Jim Dennis was a pseudonym, the combination of the two authors’ names Dennis O’Neil and Jim Berry). The character was later adapted to comics by DC.
In the original DC version, Dragon was a classmate of Ben Turner, both of whom trained under O-Sensei (played by the venerable James Hong in Batman: Soul of the Dragon). Lady Shiva was also part of this Kung Fu lineage. O-Sensei’s goddaughter Carolyn Woosan was Lady Shiva’s sister. After Woosan was killed, Lady Shiva was tricked into thinking Dragon was at fault and hunted him to take revenge. Eventually, the trick was foiled so Shiva and Dragon became allies, united against a common foe.
In the comics, the world of Batman doesn’t cross with Dragon’s until much later. Dragon goes on to become a trainer of many DC heroes, notably the first Batgirl, Barbara Gordon. In another story, he helps Batman rehabilitate after sustaining injuries from Bane.
In a later alternate narrative arc, Dragon’s title is usurped by his villainous student, Richard Diaz Jr. This is akin to the Richard Dragon depicted in CW’s Arrow and portrayed by Kirk Acevedo. Bronze Tiger also appears in the Arrowverse portrayed by Michael Jai White, so Batman: Soul of the Dragon marks his reprisal of the role in the animated DC universe (As a side note, David Giuntoli voices Batman for Batman: Soul of the Dragon; Guintoli is married to Elizabeth Tulloch, who plays Lois Lane in the Arrowverse, including the forthcoming Superman and Lois).
However, neither Drakunovski nor Diaz figure into this latest incarnation of Richard Dragon in Batman: Soul of the Dragon. Here, he’s more like a Bruce Lee clone, only cooler. Dacascos didn’t follow the comics or the Arrowverse depiction.
“Yeah, I did not know that at all,” he confesses. “The script was so good that everything I felt that I needed to portray him was already on the page….All of my information for the character I found in the brilliant script that Jeremy Adams wrote and the information that was given to me by our producers and our director Sam Liu.”
Nevertheless, Dragon was a dream role for Dacascos. As a longtime fan of Batman, his favorite live action portrayal was Michael Keaton.
“I love his interpretation,” he says with a laugh. “There’s a sense of humor that he has and he stands out.”
As soon as his manager and agents sent him the script, he was hooked.
“I saw the description of DC Comics, Batman, Richard Dragon. And then I just jumped right into the script and after just a couple of pages, I knew I loved it. And the more I read, the more passionate I was about it. Before I even finished the script, I’d already emailed my representatives back and said, ‘Yes, please, please, please. I want to do this.’” Dacascos was tickled to be cast as his Kung Fu brother. “I’ve been privileged to play a character that is friends with Batman,” gushes Dacascos.
Beyond being a bat-buddy, what really appealed to Dacascos was Dragon’s strong moral compass.
“He’s not ignorant to the fact that evil is there, always has been, is, and will be,” explains Dacascos. “But with his training and his apparent good heart, he is able to maintain that battle with the negative, with the evil and take it on, maintaining his open heart and his sense of humor. I think his sense of humor is a part of his armor. He’s able to deflect with whimsy of the situation. He is a very loyal student, he is a very loyal friend, and I think his force – what drives him – is his love.”
From Stunt Work to Voice Work
By casting Dacascos, White, and Hu, Batman: Soul of the Dragon goes that extra step by placing genuine martial artists into animated roles. Throughout his teen years, Dacascos was a genuine martial arts champion.
“The thing is,” says Dacascos humbly, “my parents are both martial arts teachers.”
That’s an understatement. His father is Grandmaster Al Dacascos, a pioneering master in America who founded his own style of Wun Hop Kuen Do. His stepmother is Malia Bernal, a noted champion and coach of many other champions like Karen Shepherd. “My brother and I were basically forced into our first martial arts tournament at age six.”
Dacascos began his acting career in martial arts films, several of which were groundbreaking. His earliest lead role was in Only the Strong which was the first film to showcase the Brazilian martial art Capoeira. Brotherhood of the Wolf was a unique French period horror Kung Fu mash up that completely broke the mold for the martial arts genre. Having such an extensive background in the martial arts informed Dacascos on how to approach the fight scenes.
“As a martial artist, all I have to do is just think about it and I’m feeling it again,” he says. “So that part felt like going back home. When we were doing the action sequences, I just gave myself space to move around and then take the direction from Sam Liu and went for it…It’s all in your head and in your heart, and of course in your breath.”
Dacascos loved how the fight scenes in Batman: Soul of the Dragon came out, so much so that he’s contemplating bringing it to live action in his own way.
“I thought what would be really fun for me to do is actually in real life physicalize the forms, that form that Richard Dragon does,” he says. “So I’m going to maybe make it a little challenge for myself and learn those moves in real life…I would love to be Richard Dragon in real life. He’s really cool.”
In many ways, Batman: Soul of the Dragon feels more like a creation story for Richard Dragon than a typical Batman story. Batman is almost a secondary character. With Marvel making such strides in diversity with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings anticipated for summer 2021, DC needs to up its inclusion game. Could this be a stepping stone for Richard Dragon to become his own franchise?
“I hope so,” confesses Dacascos. “I hope that Batman: Soul of the Dragon continues and we do a sequel or series.”
While he is hopeful that there’s a future for Dragon, it’s the spirit of Batman: Soul of the Dragon that he finds most motivating. Like the title says, it’s got a lot of soul. “The thing is, it’s so much more than that because of the lessons that the students learn in the martial arts sequences taught by the wonderful James Hong who plays O-Sensei. The lines that Jeremy Adams wrote are so profound, and like any great teachers, they transcend the martial arts. It’s so much more philosophical and deeper. So, the story has the martial arts action, but it has heart, and it’s sexy, and it still has a great sense of humor.”

Little worried some of my Legends will get lost in the crossover!
I do look forward to the crossover, it’s always fun to see all those heroes face a big threat. It make for action packed tv but I feel the Legends don’t get enough of the spotlight. Last year we had he facing our demons plot so Sara and Ray got some god character moments but this year I have a feeling that we won’t get so much Ray.
I noticed he’s barely in the trailer or any of the promo shots and Brandon Routh himself said “he’s got a limited story”. Ray is my fav I want him to do good things and be important.
The crossover tends to be a bit of the Barry and Kara show and I like them just not as much as everyone else. We do get to see more Oliver and as the first show and head of the Arrowverse i expecta nd want him in the A team. I also ike as the non powred person and the more frosty bitter one he makes a great dynamic to ther characters. Last year the A team was Barry, Oliver, Sara, Kara and Ray but looks like Ray is in team B.
If it means he gets to be more with the Team Tech then i’ll be happy but I want him to have a hero moment. I also want the other Legends to get more screen time and be important. Legnds get treated like the losers and they are just as powerful and wonderful as the other teams, I want Zari and Amaya to have more screen time. I want Firestorm to have another big moment, we better get lots of Mick and Snart. I really hope for Mick, Len and Ray interaction.
I don’t want Kara to steal the show or Barry to make it all about him( I still get annoyed when I think of season 3 Barry but he’s so much better and more on point his season). I like Kara she’s just a little too Super and I like my heroes flawed or have human weknessess and thats why I love the Legends and want them to be just as important as the headlining heroes.

queensoverwatch replied to your post: There’s a Glee crossover somewhere in Music...
I love the idea that MM is meta!Blaine who is just on this side of crazy but also just wants to spread the joy of music and looooove.
I saw an EW reviewer float the idea that he’s a Monitor and tbh I think that’s fantastic. He and the rest of the ND watch over the Arrowverse and ensure their safety/happiness/etc through THE POWER OF SONG.

My favourite fic of yours is The Centre Cannot Hold! I really loved it. Ray is one of my favourite Arrowverse characters. I loved readint that spin. It was the first Autistic!Ray fic I ever read. You painted everything so nicely in that fic. Thank you for sharing it with us! (:
Battyyyyyy… bless you! @zariadriannatomaz being extremely encouraging (in a, ‘no really, if you want this you have to write it’ tough love way, lol, and she was right *grin*). Interestingly enough she and I met up today and were talking about the power of representation, in a few different contexts, and… yeah. If I ever think fic is pointless, I just have to go and reread the comments on that and ‘The Way Out’ and a couple of others, and I remember it really does matter. Thank you for the lovely compliments!
