memory
ah yes, the classical life crisis called "memory" where I continuously question if a memory is:
an actual memory
a very vivid dream
it didn't happen I just heavily imagined it
someone else's story I heard
something I read or saw online

“why are you so weird” thanks i used to mask my autism/“weirdness” to the max but it caused everyone to ignore the fact i ever showed symptoms so after i figured out i got a neuron in my brain out of place i had to forcibly rip off that million year old mask so my parents would realize i was freaky like that and get me help
(directly inspired by “you don’t seem autistic” posts)

Is it ND culture to be so used to “okay, just because I’m hot doesn’t mean it’s hot” that you regularly risk heat stroke trying to keep up with everyone?

Adhd culture is coming to terms with being unable to commit to any long term tasks and being okay with it and finding a way to somewhat function when it comes to basic needs and thinking "oh, its not even that bad, I've learnt to manage!" And then school starts and you're physically unable to finish a book because even with all the accommodations and techniques I've learnt for myself are barely helping and even thought im putting so much effort to commit and finish it under time pressure I just...can't. My eyes just glide through every word and only process like 15% of it. Zoning out mid-reading thinking about a completely unrelated topic cus a word or a name reminded u of something and as you realise it - here you are in the middle of a chapter having no idea what's going on. If anyone has any useful tips id appreciate it🧡

Cringe isn’t real it’s just something people make up when they don’t like seeing someone shamelessly having fun and loving themself. Your interests are cool and and the way you express yourself and your emotions are valid.

Pros and cons of having a candle lit when you have ADHD (from my experience):
Pros:
Pretty :D
Smells nice :)
I will stare at the flame for hours and be entertained by the way it fwfhfhfhwfhw
You have the freedom to light as many as you want!
Warm lighting 😩
I feel like a cool witch/pre lightbulb scholar
Cons:
Intrusive urge to eat the flame
Intrusive urge to pour the wax in someone's drink
Intrusive urge to put my hand in the wax
Intrusive urge to spit toothpaste into the wax
Intrusive urge to drink the wax
Intrusive urge to grab the flame

Late-diagnosed neurodivergent culture is having been obsessed with personality typing and character archetyping systems your whole life because A: you were desperate for an explanation as to why you were different, and B: humans are terrifying and unpredictable and you wanted some way to fairly-reliably predict their behaviors and motivations.
And then, post-diagnosis, going back to those things and laughing when you realize how many blatant descriptions of neurodivergence are in them. And wondering how many of them are that way because their creators were scared, lonely, confused NDs just like you.
