Hey Midnight Mass gang,
What're your thoughts on vampires in this universe having the 'thrall'-- aka, a specialized power in which to attract and basically hypnotize victims?
I don't want to take away from the pure power of Father Paul's sermons on their own, of course, because they're fuxkin POWERFUL (and this is coming from a lapsed Methodist)
But the way EVERYONE is affected, even the skeptics, even Riley, ANYONE who hears him preach--
Except maybe Hassan, but by the time he's there everything has gone a bit topsy-turvy batshit no pun intended--
Everyone is absolutely enthralled with whatever Paul is saying!!
Is this vampiric influence, the influence of the blood they've all drunk, or is Father Paul just that incredible a preacher?

Summary:
This short (incomplete) story was a writing exercise. I wrote it in about 2011 during a re-read of the Necroscope series by Brian Lumley. Necroscope is my favorite horror/scifi/fantasy series and I have to re-read it every few years. I’m due for another read, so I may revisit this story and complete it at that time.
I’ve read that Mr. Lumley doesn’t like fanfics, which is a shame. I’m not sure where I saw that information, or if it’s even true.
I’m proud of this little bit of prose and miss writing in this style. I hope you enjoy this and if you like it and/or want more please leave a comment or kudos below. Thanks for reading!

current book i’m reading: To be honest, it’s the Necroscope by Brian Lumley butttttt I don’t think I’ll actually finish that any time soon 😭
