It took four months of non-stop cross-stitching, but I finally finished a pattern I bought from @8pxl a little bit ago, and tonight in a bizarre burst of productivity I finally sewed a back to it and stuffed it into a cute little pillow! It ended up being pretty much perfectly sized for a neck pillow, but I'm a bit worried about it getting dirty that way.
I highly recommend the patterns from 8xpl's shop, there are SO many gorgeous ones to choose from. I might end up getting another one soon o3o
fiber artists be like “this project has shaven years off my life. for endless hours I have toiled with no end in sight, a man dying in the desert of my own foolishness. my loved ones will find my withered remains hunched over in my armchair, skeletal hands grasping the finished piece that drove me to my early grave. ooooh that pattern looks awesome I must start it right away”
DMC is having a promotional sale to get a free petite version of their gorgeous antique floss chest if you buy one of their bundles! If you embroider a lot with their floss it might be worth it for you to get one of these bundles because it saves you like 40% on the total cost of individual floss. I would love to take part in this promotion, but alas. I am a humble grad student living off loans. So hopefully someone out there can get the chest and maybe send me pictures of it. It looks so pretty.
Also.
Folks might not be aware, but DMC has free patterns on their website. Including Halloween patterns. Here’s one I picked at random:
This is a great resource for people who want to get into cross stitch and embroidery but don’t have the resources to buy patterns and kits. People ask me a lot about where they can get patterns for embroidering and I usually direct them here.
They also have free patterns and VIDEO TUTORIALS for embroidery, knitting, crochet, macrame, and other fiber crafts.
Autumn is the best time to get a new hobby. You should do it.
Wanted to share these here as well. I've been on my own journey through Hell cross stitching all of the bond forged icons from Hades! This game has been one of hyperfixations for a while now lol
i took that weird slant picture so you can sort of see the texture of this new stitch i was trying for the black, it’s called the web stitch so you can probably guess why i used it :3
A friend told me about the Loose Ends Project and I think it sounds wonderful. I'm too new to cross-stitching to be of much help, but maybe I can dust off my crocheting skills....
I love when I see posts like "Share how many crochet WIPs you currently have! I have 5, it's so many!"
Like, girl, I have unfinished projects from over a decade ago that I refuse to frog on the off chance I decide to finish them. I've found years-old projects I forgot I even started and will impulsively just finish it on the spot. I've started three different projects in the last 2 months, including one I started yesterday, that I already know I may or may not finish within the year depending on motivation.
The last stitch on a large needlepoint. Very proud of myself for sticking to this beast of a project. I started this in October of 2022 and finished it July 1st 2023. It is 36x36 inches and is on a size 5 mesh.
