𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 | fluff, sweet soft!reader, she’s a little oblivious. size difference: 6’8!Ari, he’s a total beefy hunk. neighbours au, a little tumble, stripper!reader, brief mentions of mafia business, undeniable daddy energy.
𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 | It was a little ridiculous how in love you were… With a single glance, he could make you melt until you’re a pile strawberry ice cream, tied with a pretty ribbon, and sitting on his doorstep.

Time seems to slow when he jogs by, clad in shorts and a loose tank top with sweat seeping through the grey. His tan skin is covered in a light sheen, making the dozens of tattoos appear darker. From your seat on the porch, they still look like black blobs and lines stretching from his broad shoulders to his hands.
You’ve never seen them up close, but you have a few ideas of what they might be—a whole page in your diary to be exact.
Your eyes fall to his muscled legs, firm and thick thighs strain his shorts and just the beginnings of dark ink poke from underneath the fabric. You barely notice the ice cream melting down the cone to your hands, too deep in a daze when tingles blossom from your chest to your toes. A dreamy sigh flows from your lips as the wind flutters through his long brown hair, brushing along his bearded cheeks.
He turns to you and flashes a bright smile before turning the corner and disappearing down the street. That single glance makes your heart pound ten times faster, and all of your thoughts tangle into one ball of ribbons, varying in colours, prints and lace, but so evidently you.
If you could, you’d gift him that mess just so he could know how much he affected you without even trying.
"Oh no!" You quickly wipe your hands from the melting strawberry ice cream but it's useless, the pink stains your white dress and drips down to the ribbon around your ankle.
It’s almost too symbolic—the pretty pink bleeds all over your ivory clothes, ruining your life just like the fluttering trapped in your rib cage.
Honestly, it would’ve been easier to hate him, but he was so damn big that you didn’t have any space left in your heart to hate him.
To say you're in love would be an understatement. In every fantasy and daydream, he's the main focus, your co-star, your lover, your saviour draped in silk button-ups and silver rings. Oh, he's everything you've ever wanted! As if you manifested him when you were a young child and wrote about the perfect boy to sweep you off your feet and make your life a living fairytale—everything you scribbled in glittery pen has come true before your very eyes.
You don’t even mind that he and his biker friends rev their engines at three in the morning, but your roommate doesn’t agree, she’s never agreed.
The front door slams shut and you stiffen, hurriedly flipping through a random page in a magazine and desperately trying to act like you were not staring at his house next door.
"Did you do it?"
"Do what?" You ask, voice already on edge. Vibrant red hair comes into your peripherals, as well as a pair of angry green eyes.
Natasha groans, setting down her bag on the kitchen counter. "You chickened out again? I need my sleep before I lose my mind. I can’t get any if he and his dumbass friends treat this street like a fucking race track!”
“They aren’t even that loud—and I bought you earplugs.”
“I am not touching those things until those assholes learn how to be decent human beings!” She rolls up her sleeves and grabs your arm, yanking you from the barstool.
"Wait! What are you doing!"
Her heels stomp on the hardwood floor, nearly shaking the picture frames on the walls, “I messed up five drinks today, do you know how bad that looks when they’re my recipes?” She huffs, "he's out there right now mowing his lawn and you're gonna talk to him."
You grab onto the nearest thing which happened to be the couch and clutched it for dear life. “No—you do it!”
"He doesn’t listen to me!" She digs her fingers into your sides making you yelp and feebly swat her away, but you just screwed up big time. “Just try, baby, please! For me!”
That’s the last thing you hear as you stumble out the front door, tripping over the damn welcome mat and tumbling down the stairs. It’s only a few steps, but it stings when your back thumps onto the stone walkway, your poor elbows cushioning your fall.
You barely catch the engine cutting and rushed footsteps before he appears.
He stands over you with sweat brimming at his hairline, a deeply concerned expression etched onto his face, "awh shit, are you okay?"
As always, the air goes thin and you’re under that dumb lovesick spell again. The sun glows around his head like a halo, melting you to the bone, and leaving a mess on the stone in the same shades as your love—strawberry ice-cream pink.
It’s terrible that you don’t know how deluded your tender heart is.
"You're bleeding," he crouches low, gently examining your elbow, "did your roommate push you down the stairs?”
"No! No, I-I fell.” Obviously! “But I'm okay." You utter, avoiding the peeping redhead through the curtains. Your gaze lands on his long fingers wrapped around your arm. He’s warm, warmer than you thought. Heat radiates off his body and envelops you like an old friend, familiar and calm.
"Are you?" He inquires unconvinced, "here, let me clean you up." He leaves no room for protests as he helps you up and leads you to his porch.
After you sit on the couch, he disappears inside the house before emerging with a large white case. He sits next to you and opens the kit on the table.
"That's a lot of stuff." You note, staring at the packed first aid kit. There are various rolls of gauze, different ointments, and bandages, far more things than your tiny plastic box under the sink.
Judging by his shiny sports car, and his collection of perfectly tailored suits and watches, Ari lived a very different life than you and you’d do anything to know about it. Your naive heart aches for him so badly it almost hurts.
“It’s better to be safe than sorry. Can I touch you, sweetheart?”
You watch him tend to your injury with slow and careful movements, his dark brows knitted in concentration. You’ve never been this close to him, the sudden rush of blood almost makes you lightheaded, but his scent brings you back down. The woody cologne floods your nose, followed by a dash of vanilla with underlinings of musky spice.
“What happened to your other dress?” He glances up, eyes shaded under his thick lashes.
“Oh… It got dirty.”
He hums, “what a shame.” He delicately presses down the edges of the bandage. “That’s one of my favourites. It always makes my day to see you wearing it.”
You swallow down a whimper and clench your thighs, seconds away from dropping to your weak knees. Embarrassment fills your chest, tinged with guilt, “I’m sorry, sir.” The words slip out before you could think.
He cracks a small smile, shaking his head, “it’s okay, just be more careful next time, yeah? Can’t have you ruining the little purple one too, that’s my second favourite.”
Dull thumps hammer inside your head, muffling his raspy voice. You nod silently, digging your sock-clad feet into the concrete.
You take the chance to memorize his tattoos, from the intricate rose by his wrist following the thorn stems up his arm where they entwined with a heavily shaded skull. Thin script is scattered along his skin, you can’t make out the exact words but they’re in swooping cursive, clinging to his flesh like wet chiffon.
His arms tighten as he cleans up, the muscles shifting under his paper-thin t-shirt that left nothing to the imagination. Every unconscious flex clouds your head, tunnelling your vision until he’s all you can see.  A small whine sounds from your throat and his eyes flicker to yours, blue as can be.
“I don’t see you leave very often.” You were either inside or sitting on the front porch with a treat and a magazine, or in the backyard tending to that small garden. “Do you work?”
“I… I did, then I got fired.” The wound was still a little fresh. “But it wasn’t my fault, I swear!”
Ari perks up in interest, although he knows plenty about you, this was strikingly new. Aside from your basic profile, he knew about your past as well, including where you grew up, where your parents lived, and how long you’ve been in this city.
It was only right to know about the two girls living next to his late grandmother’s house. Curtis insisted since Ari wouldn’t let him stay in the old two-storey home, but instead the house down the street.
He came here to be alone and mourn, but that was hard to do with a cute neighbour always staring at him. Yet he stopped caring after you left a small bouquet of hand-picked flowers on his doorstep and an adorable ‘welcome to the neighbourhood!’ note.
He forgot how good it felt to be sought after, rather than feared and honoured like a living legend. You gave him that sliver of normalcy with your longing loved-up looks and quick dashes inside when he pulled into the driveway. To you, sweet-spirited you, he was an ordinary guy, not someone with a history coloured in hues of red and dripping all over his shoes, smearing the black ink of his future; an eternity tied to his family’s glory that’s now his.
“This customer was being so mean and I know I should’ve stayed professional but I was havin’ such a bad day already.” Your bottom lip trembles, flashes of that terrible day flickering through your head, “first I slept through my alarm, then I missed the bus, and my make-up broke in my bag a-and everything was all ruined.”
He reaches out, rubbing your knee soothingly. Poor girl, if it was up to him, you’d never be mistreated. “Where did you work?”
“Venom Vixens.” You sniffle, hoping he isn’t the judgemental type, you’ve known too many people who would humiliate you for your chosen career. “I, uh, I wasn’t one of the girls on stage since I was still new but I liked it there. My coworkers were nice, I got free drinks, and…”
“And?”
“I felt,” you look down at your hands, they were so much smaller than his, “I felt pretty. People go there to look and flirt, and I didn’t mind being on the receiving end of it.”
Ari wouldn’t mind giving you all of that instead.
He licks his lips, imagining you in a tiny lace set, the sheer fabric clinging to your figure while you swayed around the dimly lit club. A piece of art in the sea of ogling and drooling patrons, blooming beautifully under the flattery.
“You liked the attention.”
You giggle, “Yeah, a lot. Sure, some customers were gross and would say nasty things, but others were nice, real nice—they’d tip a lot and compliment me. Most of them were just lonely, they wanted someone to talk to or someone to spoil.”
You don’t regret accepting their fawning or expensive gifts, hell, most of your jewelry was from your loyal clients. Sparkly things paired with sweet words were a one-way ticket to your good books.
“How about your boss?” Ari asks, “how did he treat you?”
Venom Vixens wasn’t only a haven for the lonely or where perverts got their fill, but of course, you wouldn’t know that. You’d have a heart attack if you knew of the shady people who walked in and out of those doors, you’ve probably served a few of them, flashed that bright smile and earned yourself a big tip—unknowingly pocketing the filthy, blood-stained money.
“Mr. Hansen was very friendly, but everything went through him. If we wanted to change a routine, we had to perform it for him first and get his approval. He said it was protocol.” Ari snorts but you don’t catch it, all too distracted with twisting the ring on his middle finger. “He was nice when you were nice to him.”
“So he must’ve always been kind to you. You’re the loveliest girl I’ve ever met.”
You preen under his praise and nod happily, questioning why you were so nervous around him in the first place.
Ari was a flirt—and you loved being flirted with.
“Mr. Hansen called me his favourite before he fired me. That was over two weeks ago, and Nat said I could take my time but,” you sigh, “I feel like a bother.”
He wonders if your best friend would still hate him if she knew he was the reason that her cafe was still standing. Without his ruling over the South district, there would be chaos, and that little joint would’ve been ransacked long ago.
Did he also call for extra protection because you frequented the establishment? Proudly so.
“Are you still looking for a job?” He takes your distant hum as a yes, “Do you want to work for me?”
Your head snaps up, your sparkling eyes wide in surprise.
“I’m opening a new club in a few days and I’ve got a spot left for a performer.” He didn’t, but he had no problem giving someone the boot to make room for you.
Your mouth opens and closes several times, and the thought of Ari owning a club flies straight over your head. You’ve watched him more than your favourite movie but you still didn’t know a damn thing about him, except that he smokes, liked to work out and alternated between a white mustang and a sleek black motorcycle.
Oh, and sometimes he changes in front of his bedroom window.
“You’ll be my boss?”
Say the word, and he’ll be much more than that.
He smirks, gripping your jaw and turning you from side to side, blue eyes flickering over your features, “Sure will. I have a feeling this pretty face will be the main attraction every night.”
Your heart swells when his fingers dig into your cheeks. “I-I would, but Nat won’t like that. She kind of hates you… and your friends.” He adds pressure and your lips pucker, “you’re all s-ho loud wit ya’  bikes ‘n engines.”
Ari bites his tongue, it was either the motorcycles or the blood-curdling screams of the poor soul in the basement. He made a mental note to speed up the process of that soundproof room, he couldn’t have you losing sleep over his business.
“She doesn’t have to know.” He replies, releasing your face in favour of loosely grasping your throat. Your pulse thumps under his fingers, hard and fast, speeding up as he leans closer, “c’mon, don’t you want to be a star? Get all that attention again and make me proud?”

the art of falling in love (part one)
natasha romanoff x fem reader (high school au)
You’ve been in love with your best friend’s sister ever since you first met her (who wouldn’t be?), and you were content to take these feelings to the grave. But when she begins to reciprocate, things get complicated, and you find yourself lying to almost everyone you know — including yourself.

You’ll never forget the fateful day that you laid eyes upon Natasha Romanoff for the first time. Even at the ripe age of seven, you knew you wanted her in your life forever.
Melina Vostokoff and Alexi Shostakov are your neighbours — they live right across the street, and they have done for as long as you can remember. On your fifth birthday, they came home from a trip to Russia with a daughter, Yelena. From the moment you laid eyes on one another, the two of you knew you were best friends. Neither sets of parents had any qualms on that (“oho, here comes trouble,” Alexi would say teasingly whenever the two of you came tearing into the room), and so even before Natasha’s arrival you spent more of your waking hours in their household than in your own.
One time, two years since Yelena entered your life and only a few weeks before Natasha’s arrival, you were playing in the sandy dirt down the back of Yelena’s house, and huffing in annoyance as it proved too fine to hold up as a sandcastle. You looked over at your best friend who was currently experiencing much more success in her own task, her tongue sticking out slightly in concentration as she carefully stacked twigs to build a bug hotel, and without even thinking you asked, “why did you pick me? To be your friend?”
Yelena blinked, surprised, but placed a leaf on top of her miniature structure to serve as a roof before responding. “What do you mean?”
“Weeeeell,” you narrowed your eyes in thought, trying to figure out what it was that you meant, “we’ve just always been friends. And I like it, but I was like, why?”
She was quiet for a good few moments, and if you didn’t know the girl any better then you would have missed the slight cleft between her brows that means she’s formulating her next words, and you would’ve thought she was ignoring you. But you did know better, because she was your best friend, and that thought filled your tiny frame with joy.
“Sometimes when you meet people, it’s special,” she said eventually. “Like a puzzle, you know when they fit together? Like — like that,” she mimed two things slotting together with her fingers, and you nodded. “It happened for us, I think. It happened when my mom and dad met, they tell me all the time that dad loved mom from the moment he met her,” she wrinkled her nose, and you giggled. “And it happened for me and my sister in Russia.”
With that last statement, she’d caught your interest. Often in passing she’d mention her sister from the orphanage in Russia, where she’d been before Melina and Alexi had sorted out her visa to bring her back to their home in Ohio. You never quite knew how to respond to it, and she never elaborated beyond throwaway comments such as these, so you were fairly certain that this sister wasn’t even real until the day she was brought home.
And what a day that was; one that turned your life upside down forever. As far as you knew, when you first woke up, it was a day like any other. Another sunny morning of summer vacation. You woke up as bright and early as children annoyingly do and rushed to get ready to spend another day at Yelena’s house, no doubt irritating the shit out of her parents (who, to their credit, were very tolerant of you and Yelena’s seven-year-old antics). But once you’d knocked and stood fidgeting eagerly on their front porch, it wasn’t Yelena, or her parents, who opened the door.
No, it was an unfamiliar girl you were faced with — only one year older as you were soon to learn, but already an entire head taller than you. She looked down at you, face stony, and you stared back in confusion. There was no way this was the wrong house, you’d been coming here every day for the last two years, and you saw it every time you looked out of your bedroom window. So what was going on?
You found yourself remembering a Slavic children’s story Alexi had told you and Yelena last winter, late at night when you were curled up by the fire together drinking hot chocolate, about an old lady who had a house with chicken legs. The Baba Yaga, Alexi had called her. During the night her house would stand up and run away, and be gone from its previous spot the next morning; you found yourself wondering if this had happened to Yelena’s house too. Could any house have legs, or just the Baba Yaga’s house? You’d have to ask Alexi — once you tracked down his runaway house, of course.
“Y/N,” a voice squealed from behind the unfamiliar girl, and Yelena’s face poked out from behind her. “Y/N this is my sister! From Russia, her name is Natasha.”
“You are Yelena’s best friend?” Natasha asked softly, a gentle Russian lilt to her words. “It’s nice to meet you.”
And just like Yelena had described to you, you looked up at Natasha and something just clicked. Something aligned; a puzzle piece you hadn’t even known you were missing slotted into place.
You knew even then that you wanted to be around her forever.
It’s been ten years now, since that day, and you’ve grown up alongside the two of them. You’re an only child with distant parents, and Alexi and Melina have taken you under your wing — so much in fact that Yelena’s room is referred to affectionately as the twins’ room, and you have your own bed in there. More of your stuff is at their house rather than your own these days.
But Natasha has always been just out of reach. Since the day you first met her there’s been this pit in your stomach whenever she’s been around, strange and foreign and somewhat scary to you, that has you reduced to a silent mess with trembling fingers whenever she’s around. It’s a feeling you’ve not always understood, but in more recent years you’ve come to accept you’re in love with her; something you will take to the grave.
You don’t stand a chance with her, of course. You’re her little sister’s best friend, a whole year younger than her, and where she’s popular in school you tend to stick to the shadows. You’re not really picked on, per se — no one dares to when Yelena Belova, who’s terrifying in her own right as well as the little sister of Natasha Romanoff, is constantly glued to your side — but you just don’t have the same social standing that Natasha does. Even if by some miracle you did, she’s your best friend’s sister. You know she’ll never see you that way.
So you’ve decided to yourself you’re going to keep these feelings under lock and key, and pray they’ll go away.
And it’s been going pretty good!… well, that is, until tonight.
Alexi and Melina have flown back to Russia for the New Year, leaving the household in the hands of you, Yelena and Natasha. You and Yelena were perfectly content with spending your days of freedom ordering takeout, bingeing awful reality TV shows and annoying the cat for hours on end, but Natasha was having none of that. The Starks can’t hold their New Year thrasher at their house like normal this year (something about a sick aunt on bedrest? You weren’t really listening, to be honest), so with her parents out of town, Natasha’s offered up her house.
“I don’t want a bunch of gross sweaty drunk people in our house,” Yelena had protested when it was proposed to her, nose wrinkling. “это отвратительно. No.”
“Aw come on, please,” Natasha groaned. “It’s just one night.”
“But it’s not just one night, because we will be cleaning up for days after,” retorted Yelena. “Last time there was vomit everywhere. That was a zero out of ten experience.”
Natasha snorted. “What are you, TripAdvisor?” Dodging Yelena’s half-hearted smack, she’d added, “See, why can’t you be like Y/N? They don’t mind. Right, Y/N?”
Sure, she’d probably played you, but with those eyes who could say no to her?
Well, evidently not you. And because of it, you and Yelena are stuck spending New Year’s Eve locked in her (your) bedroom, her TV on at max volume to even be vaguely heard over the music that shakes the bed with every beat.
“О мой Бог, it’s not even midnight,” Yelena whines, checking her clock for the sixth time in the last ten minutes. “We are going to be dealing with this for hours. Natalia owes us one.”
“She’ll feel guilty tomorrow and take us to a drive-thru,” you tell her, and she sticks her tongue out at you instead of admitting that you’re right.
She opens her mouth to say something else (something witty and uncalled for, you’re sure), but she’s cut off by an abysmally loud crash and scream from downstairs, followed by even louder cheering. The look that crosses her face next just makes you very glad you’re not on the receiving end of her anger tonight.
“Liho,” you remember suddenly, “where is he? Did we pick him up before the party started?”
She pauses. “Oh, shit.”
“He’s still down there?” you panic. “Fuck, Lena, you know how much he hates noise. I’m gonna go get him.”
“No, let me,” Yelena protests, but you wave her off.
“No, because you’ll come back with a kill list twice as long as it is now,” you retort and she scrunches up her face at you, because as always with her you’ve hit the nail on the head. You blow her a kiss before closing the door behind you.
Immediately, you’re hit by the overwhelming stench of sweat and alcohol. Okay, ew. You’d practically begged Natasha to dilute the jet fuel that the Russians call vodka before distributing it, but evidently she’s not taken your pleas into account tonight. (You’re all going to pay for it tomorrow morning come clean-up time.)
At least the universe isn’t totally against you right now, though — the household’s cat, Liho, has one place he will flee to without fail whenever he’s scared; the tiny gap between the washing machine and the wall, in the laundry room. With any luck, you can sneak in and out of there through Melina’s office without encountering too many partygoers.
Getting down the stairs proves a task in itself; they are absolutely soaking for some reason, something must have been spilled on them, so thank god they’re hardwood and not carpeted. It’s like a slip and slide on your way down, and you cling onto the banister for dear life, your task only made more difficult by the tens of other people who have no regard whatsoever for your Mission Impossible-level task currently at hand.
Miraculously, you somehow make it to the bottom of the stairs unscathed, and immediately wince as you straighten back up. The noise down here is even louder, the smell even stronger, and you want nothing more than to flee back upstairs and cower under the bedsheets with Yelena until everyone finally fucks off home. But you remind yourself that if this is the way you feel, tiny flighty Liho probably feels even worse, and as his self-appointed cat mother (which you have been ever since you and Yelena rescued him from the roadside and brought him home), it’s your duty to rescue him.
So you battle your way on through to the laundry room, which thank the lord is empty. You close the heavy wooden door behind you with relief, and lean back against it for a moment, panting to recollect yourself. Jesus fuck, do you hate parties. You’re not even trying to be difficult, it’s just something you’ll never understand — they’re so overstimulating, so overwhelming. You always leave them with such a depleted social battery that you won’t be seen again for the next week. How someone can enjoy these things, you’ll never fathom.
You’re distracted from your inner monologue by the sound of gentle scrabbling, coming from behind the washing machine. An involuntary smile spreads over your face as you instantly clock what that noise is, and you approach slowly, dropping to a crouch.
“Hey buddy,” you say softly to the black fur vaguely visible among the shadows. Its gentle movements freeze, and the scrabbling noise stops. “This sucks, doesn’t it? All alone down here.”
He blinks at you.
”Yeah, it does, huh?” you continue. “What do you say we get outta here? You can come upstairs with me and Lena. How’d you feel about that, bud, huh? It’ll be much nicer, I promise. It’s so lonely down here, isn’t it?”
Convinced, the kitten wriggles out of his hiding spot and trots into your waiting arms. You scoop him up, planting kisses on his head and giggling.
“Good boy. Sweet boy. We got snacks in our room. You just love Twizzlers, don’t you?”
“He does love Twizzlers,” says a raspy voice from behind you, scaring the absolute shit out of both you and Liho. He yelps in alarm, and alarm at your alarm, digging his claws into your shoulder in a way that makes you hiss out loud. You spin around to see none other than Natasha behind you (she must have been in here before you closed the door, you vaguely piece together in your state of gay panic), red beer pong cup in hand, looking fucking beautiful.
You’ve avoided her as much as you can today while she’s gotten ready for tonight, reasoning with yourself that you’re only torturing yourself if you keep admiring her from afar, but holy fuck you can’t believe you were depriving yourself of this. A pale pink, almost nude dress, with silver blossoms settled comfortably on her hips in the way that your hands itch to be, and eyeliner that could fucking cut someone. But she’s smiling at you so softly that even the knife-sharp eyeliner smiles with her, and even though she just gave you the fright of your life you’re almost shaking with the restraint it takes to not go absolutely feral. She looks so good.
Oh lord, you are hopeless.
“You and him are just as bad as each other,” she comments, still smiling, so you know she doesn’t really mean it. Desperately scrabbling to cover for your internal screaming, you fake a pout, dropping a kiss on Liho’s head (he rubs his forehead gratefully against your cheek in return).
“That’s so mean,” you grumble.
“You look really pretty tonight,” she tells you, and your heart actually stops at the compliment. It feels like a trick for a moment, that she’d say something like that, but she’s still smiling a smile that makes your insides go all woozy.
“I really don’t think,” you begin, looking down at your outfit, but then pause. What with the top secret CIA-level mission that retrieving Liho has become, you’ve almost forgotten that before all of this you and Yelena had been playing dress up — strictly within the confines of your bedroom, of course, but you’re wearing one of Mama Melina’s old college dresses and it doesn’t look half bad on you, even though it now probably has Liho hairs all over it. You vaguely recall Yelena begging you to let her do your makeup (“pleeeease, Y/N, I swear I’ll be serious this time no more penises I promise”) too, so maybe it’s not such a reach that Nat actually thinks you look pretty tonight. “Oh. Thank you. S- so do you, I —” You forcibly stop yourself there, for fear of real embarrassment.
Her lips twitch in amusement at your antics. “Thanks.”
There’s a lull in the conversation, a moment of silence, and you figure you’d best take your leave before you inevitably embarrass yourself in front of the love of your life. You step toward the door which she’s still stood in front of, mumbling something unintelligible, but Natasha remains firm and simply raises an eyebrow at you as she sips from her solo cup. Literally everything she does is so insanely attractive that you have to bury your face in Liho’s fur for a moment and inhale in order to ground yourself properly. How can one person be so lovely? It’s just not fair.
“I should go back upstairs, Liho doesn’t like the noise,” you tell Natasha.
“You know, it’s nearly midnight,” is all she replies. “They’re about to start the countdown.”
You nod, tight-lipped. Even when it’s muffled through the thick wood of the laundry room the noise is starting to get to you now, and Liho won’t sit still in your arms either, and you want to get back upstairs to the warm safety of your bed and Yelena’s company and the shit Kardashians show you were watching, away from the girl who it’s as torturous as it is wonderful to be around.
“It’s a romantic thing for a lot of people,” she continues, and you have to look away at that. It’s almost as though she, or the universe is dangling the fact that she’ll never be interested in you in front of your face tantalisingly — like a carrot on a stick. “To kiss the one you love when the clock hits midnight, and the New Year rolls in. You got anyone to kiss this year?”
Okay, wow. Ouch.
“Liho,” you reply with as much humour as you can muster. “He is my one true love. Aren’t you, bud,” you add a few octaves higher, and he perks up, recognising that voice that’s for him. When you look back up at Natasha she’s studying you with amusement in her eyes, as though she knows something you don’t. You can hear the chanting beginning outside of the laundry room now, preparing to ring in the New Year; twenty… nineteen…
Still, though, Natasha makes no move to let you leave.
“Do you have anyone to kiss at midnight?” you ask her pointedly. “Cause you should probably get back to them.”
She downs the rest of the contents of her solo cup in one before slamming it down on the counter beside her. “Don’t need to,” comes her gruff reply, “they’re right here.”
Your jaw actually fucking drops at that statement, and your brain shortcircuits. What? Even though your heart skips a hopeful beat, you shake your head quickly to clear it of the idea that she could reciprocate these crushing feelings you harbour for her. Instead, you hold Liho out to her, hands under his armpits so that his hind legs dangle below him and he stretches to look comically long — as though you’re giving him to her like a present (which he sends you a very unimpressed for). “O— oh,” you stutter, “well if he’s your midnight kiss, is that why you were in here? I don’t want to —” twelve, eleven…
She actually laughs out loud at that, and bats Liho away. “Not him, дурачок. You.”
Her hands are cupping at the side of your face, and despite the absolute bizarre circumstances you find yourself leaning into her touch, desperate to memorise the feel of her warm calloused fingertips against your skin — seven, six; she looks down at you, the blue-green outlining her wide dark pupils framing a silent question. You’re in absolute slack-jawed disbelief, this has got to be a prank, it’s got to be — four, three — but she holds your gaze with a kind of certainty that surely can’t be summoned to fool someone. You nod a trembling, single nod, and her lips press against yours just as the clock strikes midnight.
Her lips are so soft, so gentle against yours. Your eyelids flutter shut; you can’t help it. She feels like heaven. She’s tentative at first, but when she can feel you reciprocating, her hands begin to explore a little; one moving to tangle itself in your hair, the other to your back and pulling you in closer to her. One of your arms is busy still cradling Liho close to your chest, but the other is free to trace along Natasha’s skin wonderingly as she continues her ministrations. Her leg slides between yours, forcing you backwards against the wall, where her kisses trail down your jaw for a moment before creeping back up toward your lips and returning to kissing them instead. When she nips gently at your bottom lip, you let out a noise you’ve never heard yourself make before, a kind of high-pitched whine in the back of your throat that makes Natasha laugh quietly as she pulls away for air. Liho, who was nestled comfortably between the two of you throughout the exchange, is purring merrily (“talk, Valentina!” as your friend Darcy would say).
She looks down at you for a moment, eyes wide and dilated, hair a little less perfect than before, panting slightly. She’s always had a few inches on you, ever since you were kids, and that’s something she often teases you for but right now the way she’s towering over you is so fucking hot. None of this can be real, you think to yourself hazily as she leans back in to plant one more kiss, much more chaste this time, against your lips.
“Happy New Year,” she says lowly to you; her voice is a little more broken and raspy than it was pre-makeout and it actually sends a shiver down your spine. And then she’s waltzing out of the room, leaving you absolutely shaking against the wall she was just pressing you against; your legs give up on you as you slide down against it to the ground, trying to catch your breath and understand what just happened.
Because what?
You wake up the next morning to a house that’s thankfully empty, aside from its usual residents. You’re absolutely terrified that last night was some kind of dream, or it was a drunk mistake. You’ve never felt so vulnerable in your life. You’re right in the palm of Natasha’s hand and she has all the power in the world to absolutely break you right now. She could shatter you into a thousand irreparable pieces and leave you in the dirt if she so wanted to, and that thought is one that had you tossing and turning last night.
Yelena can’t for the life of her fathom why you’re so jittery this morning. You’ve told her fuck all, of course. What were you meant to say? Hey, sorry, last night your sister who I’m kind of a little bit in love with cornered me and we made out? No fucking way. When you came back to the bedroom last night all shaken up and wordless, she just assumed that the party atmosphere had been that overwhelming. You were very grateful for her gentleness with you as you tried to figure out what the fuck was going on, and what you were meant to do now. You tried to Google it, but it would appear that not many other people can relate to the situation that you’ve found yourself in (the best thing you could find were some decade-old Quora threads about being in love with your straight best friend, and the idea of Yelena being straight was so funny to you that you had to close the tab before your laughing woke her up), and you ended up being so worried about Yelena somehow seeing your search history that you cleared the whole thing, which definitely is not suspicious.
“Hey,” Yelena slaps the back of your head playfully as she passes you, knocking you out of your trance, “it is a new day. Party is over, the house is ours, leave the miserableness behind in yesterday, да?”
You nod as you follow her down the stairs.
Natasha, to your surprise, is already awake, and seemingly not even hungover as she bustles around the kitchen, preparing something.
Yelena seems to read your thoughts, as she often does, and nods in agreement. “What, you are not curled up in bed with four million painkillers?” she asks incredulously as she slides onto a stool at the kitchen island.
Natasha shakes her head good-naturedly at her sister’s greeting, pressing her lips together to keep from smiling like an idiot as she continues to cook. “No. I feel good this morning, actually. Really good.” The smile bleeds through her words and takes over her face again.
You and Yelena exchange a look. What is… happening?
“You are being weird,” Yelena tells her, and smacks her over the back of the head with a rolled-up newspaper as her older sister walks past her to grab the butter. “What have I missed, did you get laid last night or something?”
Your blood runs cold at that, and you have to look away from Yelena so she doesn’t see the way your face drops. Is that true? Did she kiss you and then sleep with someone else? No, she wouldn’t do that to you, surely.
Your thoughts (hopes) are confirmed when she snorts to herself and shakes her head, her back still to the both of you as she pours batter into a pan. “No. No, I just — I had a really good time last night. That’s all. Thanks for letting me have the party.”
You watch as Yelena’s eyebrows furrow, her eyes tracking every one of Natasha’s movements intently, and she tries to figure out what’s going on. You’re similarly perplexed. Natasha is the silent, stony older sibling, the watcher, the one who hears everything and knows everything but doesn’t often speak of her own accord. Last night in the laundry room was the longest exchange you’ve had with her in weeks (and that was before she kissed you). As a kid you would mistake this for shyness, but it eventually became clear that Natasha Romanoff is not shy. She’s very far from it, in fact. She’s just observant, and doesn’t feel the need to speak unless she has something to say. You have zero clue what she’s feeling or thinking half the time — her poker face is so good it’s unsettling. So this is a weird occurrence. You don’t think you’ve seen her as happy as this since… well, since the day she was brought home.
“Well, it is not as though we had much choice in the matter,” Yelena retorts humorously. “Don’t forget we are not cleaning up. That’s on you, сестра.”
“I know, I know,” Natasha grumbles playfully, placing a plate in front of each of you before sliding a pancake onto each of them, right out of the pan. “I owe you one.”
Yelena looks from the pancake to her sister, and back again. “What is this?”
“A chocolate chip pancake.”
“They’re heart-shaped,” you observe quietly.
“Well done for having eyes. If you don’t want them —”
“Nope, it’s good, thank you,” says Yelena thickly, and it’s already gone. You let out a noise of amusement as you eat in a more dignified manner, humming your approval. You don’t think Nat’s ever made you breakfast. It’s nice, though.
Yelena swallows, and leaps to her feet. “I think it’s a Kardashians marathon on TV today,” she informs you, pointedly ignoring the noise Natasha makes whenever that show is mentioned, and she dashes off into the living room. You are alone with Natasha, for the first time since last night.
The nerves from earlier are back, swelling up inside of you uncomfortably, and you do your best to casually avert your gaze from her as you continue to eat. You have no idea whether to bring up last night or to pretend it never happened. Just thinking of the latter makes your heart ache, but it’s becoming a more real possibility by the minute.
Seemingly indifferent to your internal struggling, Natasha slides a pancake onto her own plate and ruffles your hair as she passes you on her way to the fridge. You flinch at the touch, and she giggles.
“You okay?” she asks you teasingly as she pulls a container of raspberries out of the fridge.
You swallow, and nod, trying your best to not embarrass yourself this morning. “Y — yeah. Uh, can I have some?” You gesture at the tub of raspberries.
She pretends to think for a moment, taking slow steps back towards you, until she’s right in front of you — towering over you even more so than she usually does, since you’re still sat down. You look up at her, filled with something not dissimilar to awe. Even in the mornings, when she’s fresh out of bed and still half-asleep, she’s the most beautiful girl you’ve ever seen. She places her spare hand on your thigh, with the other still holding the berries, and you think to yourself with absolute certainty that you could die happily in this moment.
“Mmm,” she says thoughtfully. “Beg me.”
Not for the first time in the last twenty-four hours, your jaw drops. You look up at her, pleadingly, not even sure what you’re pleading for. Pleading her to go easy on you? Pleading her to stop? To keep going? But she’s unrelenting.
“Please,” you say eventually, quietly, your voice barely above a whisper. “Please can I have some.”
Almost too quickly for you to process, her lips are pressing against yours. You gasp against her, every single emotion from last night swelling back up, with the added concern that Yelena is in the next room over. But she pulls away after a moment, winking at you as she retreats to her own seat, and as you raise a hand to your lips you realise that in kissing you, she’s left a berry between your lips. She laughs gently when she sees you openly staring at her, and the sound sets your whole body alight, the feeling only amplified by the fact that you’re the cause of her laughter.
Well, you wanted an answer and there’s not many ways to interpret that one.
And so begins your scandalous affair with your best friend’s sister.

Soulmates: two souls that are deeply connected and once successfully found, can communicate through their minds, no matter how far the location or language that was spoken. They were rare and many people were driven insane with the search to find their one true love but not you, you'd accepted years ago that there may never be the chance of ever finding her until fate was on your side.
It had been a beautifully mundane day. The movies like to show a romantic first meeting between two souls tied together from the depths of time, whether it be colliding in a coffee shop, running through the rain or even the hero saving someone from a villain. This was not anything like the start to your story, in fact, there were many details you couldn't remember.
Was it sunny? A Monday? Were you wearing jeans or leggings? You were completely unsure of any of these details but these were all menial with regard to the bigger picture no matter what day it was; it was the best day of your life as you met your soulmate. One minute your thoughts were your own, always described as 'hauntingly silent' by individuals who had already found their soulmates and thought back to the time before meeting their loved one.
Then the next, as you turned towards the exit of your work, your eyes hadn't even connected with her green eyes, still mesmerised by her lips as another silky voice echoed, "Oh", through your mind. It wasn't just this, as a warmth settled through your chest, not realising how empty you had been surviving through life until you finally found her, Natasha, your soulmate.
Natasha Romanoff had recently joined SHIELD when the two of you met but, she was honest about her alter ego Black Widow, as well as her past as an assassin which quickly helped to decide the dynamic of your relationship: a secret.
You were a nurse in a small hospital in the middle of nowhere, it was a surprise to you that Natasha had even found your workplace with it only being used by the locals. This fact actually aided with you being able to keep the relationship secret, you were a nobody in comparison to Natasha, no one would even look in your direction with suspicions or notice a hooded figure sneaking into your home in the middle of the night with your lack of neighbours.
At first, it had been difficult, you'd just found someone you wanted to spend every waking second with but she had to travel around the world and face dangerous missions constantly. However, thankfully with your soulmate connection, you could talk through your minds as long as you were both awake. Then as aliens attacked Earth and the Avengers were formed, you were happy to still be hidden, knowing that if anyone found out about you, they could use you against Natasha so a long-distance relationship it was.
Every single day, the two of you spoke, her words always feeling like being wrapped in a tight warm hug or when the tone changes, a seductive finger sliding down your spine.
Today, you were 5 hours into your shift at the hospital, finding a spare moment to wander down an empty corridor, hugging a report to your chest as a smile widened across your face.
You aren't lying to me, are you? your words were teasing towards Natasha but had every undertone of seriousness behind them.
Natasha had to hide her smile behind the microphone of the headpiece she wore as she was currently flying the Quinjet on the way back from a mission with the Avengers. Why would I lie to you, Milaya?
Your heartbeat quickened at the use of her nickname for you, Milaya, translating to darling, a name that often had you feeling safe and warm. It was also an easy way for Natasha to distract you from your questioning so you shook your head and tried to remain on track with your mind communication.
Please tell me, you encouraged, trying to find out if your soulmate had earned any injuries on this mission.
I'm fine, it's only a scratch on my wrist. - and bruised ribs to match the deep purple shade forming along her jaw where some asshole managed to punch her in the face, but you didn't need to know about that Natasha decided. You were at work and didn't need the distraction.
Hmm fine, I'll believe you for now but I'm going to see if you're lying when you get here in 2 days' time, you responded trying to sound slightly doubtful, having had this conversation with the red-haired assassin far too many times before.
Natasha's mouth quipped into a soft smile that she didn't bother to hide, eyes softening as she looked across the extensive view of clouds. 2 days seemed like such a long time to you both, her stomach twisting uncomfortably thinking about the wait as she decided, I'll try and visit sooner.
Don't rush baby, I would love to see you but please rest. It had been nearly two weeks since you had been able to hold or kiss Natasha and it was almost like you craved to be with her, needing to smell her hair, stroke her bare skin - you were going insane without her around. However, you couldn't help but feel bad that she felt the need to rush to be with you, she was so busy on these missions, hardly eating, sleeping and having to be at peak physical performance at all times. She was doing the very most and travelling across the country to see you whereas you had to sit pretty and wait for her, yes you worked full-time at the hospital but it was hard to compare your fatigue to Natasha's.
I just want to be with you, Natasha finally admitted, her voice losing the confident tone she had been trying to uphold for your benefit.
Your steps slowed to a stop as you stared at a crack in the concrete floor, I want to be with you too. You sighed out loud, wiping a hand down your face before trying to continue the conversation. Where are you at the moment?
Natasha swallowed the lump forming in her throat, the sudden overwhelming sensation to cry needing to pass as she was still surrounded by her friends in the Quinjet who had no idea she had found her soulmate all of those years ago. Looking at her coordinates, she replied, we are flying over Colorado at the moment.
You smiled slightly as you approached the door you had originally been planning on visiting in the hospital, the happiness felt through the bond that Nat could feel her chest warming. Oh, I've always wanted to visit Colorado, I've heard the--.
Silence.
Not the silence that came with being distracted and losing your train of thought but the sort of quiet that left an empty hole in Natasha's chest as she waited for you to finish your sentence but it never came. The assassin sat up further in her seat, heart beginning to pound violently behind her ribcage as the realisation dawned on her that the emotions she was experiencing were the haunting silence she felt before meeting you before there was ever a soulmate connection.
Milaya? Natasha asked into the void of her mind, but there wasn't any sort of response or emotions felt back. Even when you were asleep, Natasha could feel your calmness and sense of contentment through the bond but it was just...lifeless.
MILAYA?! The red-haired woman was screaming through her mind, frantically pulling off her headset as they felt suddenly claustrophobic, forest green eyes darting wildly around the multitude of buttons laid out before her on the jet's console.
Nat hadn't noticed that in her surge of anxiety to try and get you to respond, she had actually begun verbalising her nickname for you, which caught the attention of Tony who was sitting closest to her.
"Who? I'm not naming the jet that Nat, if- Woah". Tony's words were swiftly cut off as Natasha pushed past him, her mouth was painfully dry, eyes wide and unblinking with fear, the match the tremor that had settled in her hands as she grabbed the touchscreen computer typing in your hospital's location.
Her eyes moved faster across the screen than ever before. There was nothing, no reports of an attack, nothing that would be a reason for your bond to completely disappear. Next, she opened the local police scanners and reports but once more, there was nothing that reverted back to the hospital.
Every second that agonisingly ticked past, she continued to scream a mixture between your name and Milaya, hoping there would be some sort of a response but nothing seemed to come of it.
"Natasha? What is it?", it was Steve who was asking now. Natasha's erratic behaviour was quickly questioned by her colleagues and friends who all approached and watched with confusion as she continued to lose all control.
Clint pushed past the others, grabbing onto his best friend's shoulders, his eyebrows furrowing as a tear slipped from the woman's eye, sliding down her cheek. Looking over her shoulder towards the screen, he recognised the hospital name, him being the only person that Natasha trusted with your whereabouts.
"What is it?" Clint demanded.
"I... I can't hear her", Natasha's voice was quiet and displayed her distraught brokenness.
"Her? Who is her?" Tony asked.
"Tony, not now", it was Bruce this time who spoke up, having never seen Natasha lose her composure like this, something had to be seriously wrong.
Clint's hands moved to cup her cheeks, forcing her to look up at him, "Nat, I'm gonna need you to take a deep breath in for me and tell me what's going on."
Natasha removed herself from Clint's grip after taking one steady breath before turning back towards the computer screen, not bothering to wipe away the tears that she couldn't stop from falling as she attempted to log into the hospital's CCTV. From there, she rewound the feed to a couple of minutes ago and began to search through the corridors.
"Can someone explain what's going on, please?" Steve asked, more sternly than before, trying to find some answers that he wasn't getting.
However, the Black Widow wasn't listening, becoming even more panic-stricken with each passing second as she searched for you on the screen until finally, some air returned to her lungs as she found you walking down a deserted corridor, the footage a minute before the bond suddenly stopped. Natasha nearly smiled at seeing you there, even though she couldn't see the details of your face due to the low-quality cameras.
Tentatively, she, along with the rest of the Avengers, watched you walk down the corridor. Nat's eyes continued to glance at the time, watching it tick down as you approached the door at the end of the corridor, opened it and stepped in and then nothing as it was the time everything became silent. There were no further camera feeds in that room, you were simply there one minute and then something happened in the room and the bond was gone.
Natasha rested her head against the computer, closing her eyes to put all of her effort into shouting your name into the void in her mind but the only thing that responded was the silence and the disrupting shouting from the people around her was distracting.
"Everyone shut up!", she demanded with authority, thinking hard enough that it was beginning to form a migraine.
Glancing towards Clint, who looked just as worried as she felt, he asked, "Nothing? What about here?" he tapped against his chest, directly over his heart.
Natasha shook her head before a red suitcase caught her eye line. Taking a step towards Tony she demanded, "Give me the iron man suit".
Tony scoffed, "What? Not until you explain what's happening- wait what the fuck?!"
"GIVE ME THE SUIT!", Natasha had lost all composure, not thinking clearly, only thinking about you as a priority as she reached into her holster and within half a second, had her gun pointed towards Tony's head.
"Natasha, put the gun down, NOW.", Steve demanded, taking a step towards the billionaire like he was going to stand in front of the gun for his friend.
Nat began to cry, still mumbling, "Give me the suit Tony", the hand holding the gun still visibly shaking. Clin stepped directly in the path between the gun and Tony before Steve could, he held up his hands for good measure to show he didn't mean any harm.
"Nat listen to me", his voice was calm and low as he spoke, like he was talking to a frightened animal. "Even if you wear his iron man suit, I don't think you're in the right mindset to be by yourself so this is what's going to happen. You're going to lose the gun and I'm going to sit in the pilot seat and fly us to her, we'll be there in a couple of hours but you need to calm down right now, this jet is too small to be firing guns and you know it".
She knew he was right, thankful that she had a friend to talk some sense into her as she lowered the gun, nodding her head towards Clint who rushed to the seat she was just sitting in, placing the headset over his head. Returning the gun back into her holster and watching as Clint increased the speed of the jet, she suddenly jumped as Bruce began talking to her.
"How long has it been since you found her?" he offered her a warm drink that she hadn't noticed him pour for her. Of course, Bruce was the first to suss out what was going on. Nat held the warm drink in her hands and forced herself to drink it, even though the nausea she felt was overwhelming, she needed to try and keep calm.
"Before I knew any of you...except for Clint", Natasha admitted quietly, sitting in one of the seats surrounding the edge of the Quinjet.
Steve sighed heavily, sitting next to her, now understanding just what was going on.
"Wait, so you've had a soulmate this entire time and you didn't tell any of us?" Tony asked, sounding slightly disheartened by the news.
"I had...I NEEDED to keep her safe Tony. Do you really think our jobs don't come without any repercussions?" Tony shivered at Nat's words, thinking about the number of times his soulmate Pepper had been caught in the crossfire due to him being Iron Man. "Exactly. I can't lose her, she's... the only person I have and the only one I let get close to me, she's my only one and now, she's not answering my calls, something is wrong, I know it is".
The Avengers all nodded their head solemnly, understanding why she had reacted the way that she did. Tony sat opposite Nat, eyes full of remorse, "So is her name Milaya? That's what I heard you say earlier".
Natasha released a half-assed chuckle beneath her breath, "No that's just a nickname, her name is y/n", she allowed herself to smile for a split second, thinking about the first time she'd called you Milaya and how fond you were of it.
Then realisation dawned on her that this was really happening. Not only were you potentially in danger but now the Avengers also knew about you, could this potentially mean you didn't need to hide anymore? Shaking her head she left that thought for another time, needing to make sure you were ok first.
"Everyone strap in", Clint shouted over his shoulder, the jet beginning to reach it's maximum speed. Natasha attached the buckles around herself tightly, dropping her head back and continued to try and shout down the bond.
Clint landed in the near-empty car park in record timing much to Natasha's relief, who hardly waited for the doors to fully open before jumping down onto the tarmac. Even though the car park was bare for vehicles, there was still a scattering of people gathered around, visiting people in the hospital or using the facilities which meant, as the Avengers were suddenly in this forgotten-about town, it caught their attention quickly, shouts and whispers from every direction.
This didn't stop the group however as they followed Natasha into the building, her footsteps fierce and confident, face full of determination, all tears gone as anger replaced those feelings. There wasn't any immediate sigh of distress as they entered the building, and no sign of an attack still or police presence.
The reception lay straight ahead, and immediately, Natasha knew that it was the receptionist Bonnie behind the counter, someone you had talked about with affection on many occasions and it dawned on the assassin that she probably knew every professional in this small building.
Trying to not sound too aggressive but still holding the urgent tone, Natasha stopped before the counter, staring at Bonnie who looked up with comically wide eyes, glancing at each of the Avengers before looking back at Black Widow as she began speaking, "Y/N, where is she?"
Bonnie frowned in bewilderment, "Nurse Y/N? But how did you know-"
Natasha's heart dropped painfully as the receptionist seemed to confirm that something had happened. Beginning to lose her composure once more, her voice raised in noise level as she demanded, "Where is she? Is she even here? Did someone take her? Is she dead-?"
Bonnie quickly cut off Natasha's rant, standing from her seat with raised hands, "No! No she's not dead but something did happen earlier, let me take you to her".
She directed the group down a corridor, half running with how fast Natasha was trying to walk in front of her, ignoring the stares from the other patients and professionals. As they approached a series of windowed rooms, Bonnie began to explain what had happened.
"A ... a guy came in earlier, we think he snuck through the basement but he was caught stealing meds which were where Nurse Y/N was stationed and...she found him in the cupboard and he hit her hard across the head, by the time we found her, the guy was gone and she was unconscious on the floor. The doctors are still waiting for her to wake up was the last update that I had".
Natasha was reeling from the information, knees momentarily buckling but Clint was right behind her, hand under her arm to keep her upright and moving. You were alive, that was the information that alarmed through her mind, you were unconscious that was why she couldn't feel the concentration, it wasn't like you were asleep and could wake at any time, you'd been forcibly put to sleep, your body healing and cold.
Then there was the fact that someone had actually hurt and injured HER soulmate, right now, you were her priority but the second you were feeling better, nothing and no law would stop Natasha from hunting this guy down.
Suddenly Bonnie stopped in front of a large window that looked into a private room that had light filtering through the blinds causing an orange hue to shift across where you lay in the hospital bed in the centre of the room. There were a few machines scattered around that were monitoring your observations and a nurse recording the results standing next to the bed.
Natasha had to use every part of her training to try and hold back the audible sob that threatened to explode from her mouth as she didn't wait for permission to walk into the room. However, no one seemed to have the courage to even question the Avenger, all looking confused between her and the other heroes, nurses and healthcare assistants gathering to see what all the commotion was about.
The nurse turned, hearing someone else entering to room, her eyes widening just as exaggeratedly as Bonnie's and Natasha was quick to read his name tag, Chris. Internally she smiled knowing you were in good hands, Chris had a reputation at the hospital for his quality of care and that you and he were close friends, it must have been hard for him to then stay professional and give care for his friends.
"Is...Is she ok?" Natasha finally found her tongue to ask the Nurse, her green eyes wandering over every inch of your body. You looked almost peaceful, except for the fact that you were still in your Nurse tunic and there was a bandage plastered to your forehead.
A wave of nauseous anger rushed through Nat's body but she took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. Chris's full attention was now on the Avenger as he answered her question with a surprisingly sturdy tone considering he was talking to one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. "She's had several stitches to close the injury, we found a metal pole next to her covered in blood so she took a strong hit. Thankfully there's no internal damage shown in the scans and she's yet to wake up but her observations have remained stable. Even if she wakes, she'll need to stay for a day or so to fully assess the damage."
The red-haired woman nodded, feeling somewhat relieved hearing this.
"Natasha?" Clint asked from the doorway having heard what Chris had said, waiting until the assassin turned towards him before continuing. "You good? We'll get out of here to give you some space just... keep in touch, will you? Let us know when she wakes up and-", his voice lowered dangerously low, "we'll find the guy".
Natasha nodded thankfully, even though she wanted to find whoever did this, the promising look in Clint's eyes she knew to trust that he had it covered. The rest of the Avengers shuffled back down the corridor, waving at the onlookers, thankfully taking the spotlight off of Natasha for a second as she attempted to step closer to you.
With no one there to hold her up, her knees buckled once more with overwhelming relief pulsing through her heart as she reached for your hand, her eyes filling with tears at the warm skin of your hand against yours, finally feeling grounded and connected to you.
Chris was quick to provide a chair for the Assassin, leaving the two of you and ushering away the spectators through the window, Natasha decided she would find him later to thank him for this.
"Oh Milaya," Natasha sighed as her face searched yours, hand gripping yours before stroking the back with his thumb.
The movement seemed to stir something with you as your fingers twitched in her grasp, a moan releasing from your mouth, eyes flicking beneath your still-closed eyelids. It almost felt like instinct for you to turn your head towards Natasha, feeling her presence there as the further you stirred, the mouth the empty hole in Natasha's chest filled with your bond.
"Natasha?" you whispered, voice thick and slurring slightly.
Nat brushed her other hand across your cheek, leaning down to lightly kiss the part of your temple that wasn't covered in bandages, mumbling "I'm here, baby". For this once, she absolutely didn't care who could see the two of you, Natasha allowed herself to be vulnerable for a moment, she thought she'd lost you, there was no way she was wasting another moment again.
A further hour passed before you moved again, sucking in a deep breath to properly fill your lungs and frowning, feeling something was off but not sure what. Blinking open your eyes, you flinched at the bright light that sent pain sparking across your head.
"Milaya?", Natasha whispered, careful to keep the noise down to not affect your sensitive senses. Her thumb brushed across your soft cheek, trying to help you arouse so she could see your pretty eyes.
"Nat?" you asked again, voice still sounding just as slurred and thick as before, "Am I dreaming?".
Eventually, your eyes opened, squinting against the orange light still pouring through the outside window. Even though the doctors had been giving you pain relief through your IV that was attached to the back of your hand that Natasha wasn't holding, you were still sensitive to the lingering concussion.
"There are those pretty eyes", Natasha praised as you looked at her hovering over you. "You aren't dreaming, you're ok, you're safe".
"What- What's going on?" you asked, feeling like something was wrong but not quite understanding just yet. You were confused and dazed still. Attempting to sit up, you frowned as your soulmate pushed against your shoulders, keeping you lying but you were only attempting to be closer to her.
"Hey it's ok, you don't need to get up, you need to rest", Nat encouraged, watching as you looked down at your body, observing the leads attached to various areas to monitor your observations, the cannula in your hand to the heavy feeling in your head, lifting said hand to brush over the soft material of the bandage on your head. Natasha cupped your hand and pulled it away from your injury, "Be careful my love, you've been hurt, don't touch it".
"I've been hurt?" you asked with confusion but the slur was very much still evident, you still need to rest and recover.
"Yeah, do you ... remember anything that's happened? Do you know what day it is?" Natasha asked, staring down worriedly at you.
You tried to think hard about today but your mind continued to be blank with delirium. "Uh... I don't remember anything. I feel like I'm floating through space", you admitted but then something dawned on you, even though you couldn't name what day it was, you knew you were at work, having been in this particular room hundreds of times and Natasha was definitely next to you right now, still dressed in her Black Widow uniform. Eyes flicking over her shoulder to the indoor window, you could see some of your colleagues walking around. "You're here! In front of everyone, they'll see you, Natasha!"
Natasha's eyes softened, hands coming up to cradle your face, "Shhh Milaya, I don't care that they've seen me. Baby, I thought you were dead." Her eyes dropped from yours to stare at your name tag that was clipped to your tunic, willing the heavy emotions to remain at bay, you needed to rest and she didn't want to make you more upset. "We were talking and then you were silent but usually, I can feel you even when you're asleep but there was nothing and I couldn't... I had to come here, I thought you were in danger, I mean, you were in danger! Apparently, some asshole was stealing med and you found him so he hit you with a metal bar".
"I'm sorry I scared you", you responded, feeling overwhelming guilt over the situation but still feeling completely dazed and out of it. "Will you stay?" you asked hopefully, reaching up to touch her cheek gently.
"I'm not leaving your side", Natasha confirmed.
"Good". The two of you stayed silent for a few minutes as the assassin returned to sitting in her seat, lifting your hand to place it back against her cheek so she could nuzzle into it. You smiled at her softness, something she didn't often like to display before something else caught your eye, your fingers nimbly grasping her chin to turn her head away from you so you could look at her chin, seeing the painful bruise there, "I thought it was just a scratch you got on this mission?" you asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Ah, so you do remember somethings", Natasha smirked, referring to the conversation the two of you were having before you were attacked.
"Oh little bits," you admitted, "I bet we look like a right pair", you joked, eyes closing with heaviness suddenly exhausted.
"Get some sleep Milaya", Natasha muttered against the palm of your hand.
I love you, you spoke into the mind connection, feeling heat spreading across your chest with love.
Natasha had never heard such beautiful words before, sighing and leaning over before she could stop herself to kiss your lips softly, audibly whispering, "I love you too".
Thankfully, 24 hours later you were discharged and finally bombarded by your friends and colleagues that were swiftly brushed away by Natasha as she led you towards the exit, but she quickly admitted that her phone had been going off constantly from the Avengers, wanting to invite you over soon to be introduced.
It took Clint three hours to find the man responsible for the attack and had been keeping him in a secret holding for Natasha, not that the woman was rushing to leave your side any time soon.
The days passed by and you were forced to rest by both the Doctor and Natasha, who was quick to do anything and everything for you and you were more than thankful, the symptoms of the concussion taking longer than you'd anticipated to wear off.
Finally, you felt strong enough to climb out of bed, the smell of food being cooked coming from the kitchen had your stomach growling in hunger as you quickly had a shower, still careful of the plaster over your stitches but the massive bandage had been removed thankfully.
After dressing in only an oversized top and shorts, you smiled lovingly at the sight of Natasha in the kitchen, standing in dark joggers and a thin grey vest, her hands moving skillfully over the food that was cooking, toast popping up in the toaster.
You began to move forward with the plan to help her by buttering the toast, greeting her with a "Hello beautiful", and reaching for the knife and butter. However, your attempts were futile as Natasha snatched away the utensil.
"Nope, I'm doing that, go and sit down please", she began moving away from you, to continue with her cooking.
Rolling your eyes, you simply found another butter knife from the drawer and moved back to the toast, "I'm fine! I can butter my own toast, Natasha".
Once again, she simply removed the knife from your hand, shaking her head with a throaty laugh, "I'm looking after you so go and sit down".
"You have looked after me and I'm feeling almost normal except for the stitches", you admitted, pulling the toast over from the toaster and placing it onto the plate, moving closer to Nat to try and snatch the knives out of her hand but she held it at arm's length, still smirking. "You're relentless you know that?" you finally admit defeat, hand dropping to your side.
You watched her move for a moment, not planning on sitting down at all before stepping behind her as she stirred something in one of the pans. Your hands rested against her waist, fingers teasing along the hem of her vest to finally slip beneath and feel her warm, soft skin as your lips kissed along her exposed shoulder. You smiled against her, hearing the relaxed sigh escape her mouth.
"Hmm... and you are good at distractions", Natasha quipped over her shoulder, leaning into your touch.
"I've missed you," you admitted thoroughly, even though the two of you had been together for the last few days, due to you resting, you hadn't been able to be intimate and you missed her, especially being away for so long before the attack.
I've missed you too, Milaya. Natasha spoke through your mind, hands moving to rest over yours before turning slightly towards you. "But- I need you to eat first, your stomach growling woke me up this morning and I'd feel much more content knowing your belly as full before I take your clothes off".
You swallowed harshly at the end of her sentence, thankful that she wasn't fighting you on being intimate and you could deal with the request, kissing her mouth quickly before stepping back towards the table that was already set for the two of you to eat.
Sitting down, you watched mesmerised as she cooked, it looking almost like she was dancing around the kitchen, you knew you could never be as graceful as her but she also had extensive training which aided with her movements. Your core clenched though as her vest continued to ride up on her hips, exposing more of her stomach and you wanted nothing more than to lick the area.
"Having fun over there?" Natasha asked with a wicked smirk plastered on her beautiful face as she observed your wandering eyes and the shifting you were doing on the chair with your obvious arousal.
You bite your lip to hide your grin at being caught, not quite finding the words to respond that wasn't a request to take her clothes off so you distracted yourself by drinking the glass of water that was already placed on the table.
The two of you ate and chatted about Natasha's teammates, especially Tony who had sent about 50 invitations to you to join the numerous events that were coming up that the Avengers had to attend, hoping you would accept one so he could bombard you with questions.
You both had decided that you'd attend one eventually, increasing the security would be easier now as you didn't need to hide away. This new found freedom was exhilarating and you couldn't wait to walk down the street, holding her hand and showing everyone that she was yours.
Scrapping the plate clean and moaning at how good the food tasted, you stood to wash up the plates but once again, Natasha was grabbing the plates from your hands, moving over to the sink and placing them into the warm water.
"We can do that later", she informed, extending her slender hand for you to take and leading the way towards the bedroom. The two of you lay in the centre of the bed, your eyes were already heavy, you hadn't realised just how tired you were, with a full stomach and it had been the most you'd moved in days and had exhausted you quickly.
You felt bad having teased her and attempted to reach for her but she easily held down your arms, pulling your body against hers, fingers moving delicately across your scalp in a calming manner. "Get some sleep baby, I'll be here when you wake up".
When you finally woke, you were greeted with the peaceful sight of Natasha also sleeping, her features completely relaxed. Watching her for a moment, you carefully lifted your hand, attempting to tuck a strand of hair that had fallen across her face behind her ear but in a blink, your hand was stopped in midair as Natasha gripped your wrist.
You grinned as she opened her eyes, "It's really creepy when you do that".
Natasha's plump lips tilted into a smirk, her eyes flicking across your face as she bought your wrist up to her mouth, kissing the sensitive skin on the inside that sent a shiver through your spine. "You love how quick I am, really", she teased, her voice completely sultry to match the darkening look in her eyes.
"I love everything about you", you countered, leaning closer, finally closing the gap between your lips. Both of you released a heavy sigh, breaths fanning across each other's faces at finally touching. Your skin burned instantly, feeling like there were tiny electric pulses coming from wherever your skin met and it always felt like that when it was with your soulmate, intense and powerful.
Natasha broke the kiss first but only to move down your cheek, on her own journey to reach your lobe, nibbling the sensitive flesh between her teeth that caused a deep moan to vibrate in your chest as your fingers reached for the thin straps on her shoulders, efficiently pushing them down.
"My Milaya", Natasha whispered against your ear, her fingers, pushing underneath your shirt to do their own exploration. Just before the tips of your fingers began to graze over her now exposed breasts, she pushed you fully onto your back, easily rolling on top, straddling over your abdomen her shoulder-length hair falling and framing her face as she leaned over you. "Let me make you feel good".
You mewled in response, admiring the beauty that she was, the way her lips parted and shined in the light, the straps dropped off of her shoulder that allowed for her vest to drop and reveal her perked breasts that were desperate to be touched. A finger slid under your chin as she looked at you with a raised eyebrow.
"You're so beautiful Natalia", you praised, hoping your eyes showed as much affection as your words did. Natasha's shoulders visibly dropped with love at the use of her birth name before she was leaning over you and kissing you fiercely, desperately moving, tongue pushing and flicking against your own, both moaning as you could taste each other.
Your hips lifted trying to find some friction but ended up grinding against Nat who groaned at the contact, her fingers suddenly reaching to grasp the edges of her vest, pausing the kiss for a second so she could remove the offensive material before moving back down to your mouth.
It felt so good to have her chest naked, rubbing against your t-shirt, that she was willing to be so bare before you. Your fingers caressed down her spine first before pulling around to the front, grazing over her scars and careful of her still healing bruised ribs that didn't seem to phase Nat anymore as you finally cupped her tits.
You felt the weight of them against your palm, squishing the beautiful flesh before tweaking her pretty nipples, earning a grind down from Nat's hips on your abdomen. Smiling against her mouth, you knew she had ultra-sensitive nipples which only made it more fun to play with them, hearing the desperate little moans she would release.
Suddenly, you were left cold and reaching for more as Nat sat up, pushing her hair out of her face as she looked down at you, "take off your clothes", she demanded whilst climbing off of your lap to remove her joggers speedily. You did as instructed, first removing your shirt and then your underwear before lying back down and Nat was straight away straddling your body again.
With no layers of material between the two of you, her bare, noticeably wet cunt now lay against your abdomen. Your hands went to her hips to grind her hips further against you, making her rock her body against yours as she leaned down once more to kiss you, your breasts rubbing together as her pussy rolled against your stomach.
"I'm supposed to be making you feel good", Nat whispered breathlessly against your neck of which she had moved to leave open-mouthed kisses against the sensitive skin.
You chuckled, releasing her hip with one hand to reach between your bodies to play with her nipple again, feeling the vibration of her moan melt into where your chests touched. "You are making me feel good", you responded just as breathlessly, rubbing your thighs together and feeling how wet you were.
The assassin suddenly moved, half climbing down your body and moving one of your legs over her hip, lowering her hips and then her cunt was stroking against yours. The two of you moaned, and your eyes flicked between her now swollen parted lips and where her hips began rolling against yours, your clit brushing against yours, both of your juices mixing together.
You matched her movements, gripping onto the leg that she had positioned over yours still, your hips rolling with hers, both gasping and mewling as your clits were rubbed and swiped against each other.
"Feel so good baby", Natasha praised, her hand coming up to cup against your breast, massaging the flesh slowly to match the thrusting of her hips. Your head flung back as she tweaked your pebbled nipples as she pressed especially hard against your clit. "Do you like when I rub on you Milaya?" she asked you, feeling her cunt pulse with arousal at seeing you experience such pleasure.
"Yes, feel so so good", you groaned, also reaching up to play with her tits, before sitting up slightly and pulling her face down, kissing her desperately as you both chased your highs, clits still sliding against one another with how wet you both were.
You were so close, your core beginning to tighten as you began to chant her name like a prayer, needing and wanting her, begging not to stop as Natasha was responding with just as much desperation.
Your cunt then started fluttering as you came, hands gripping onto Natasha hard enough that you were sure to leave bruises but it just felt so good that you couldn't stop. Natasha continued her movements for a few further minutes, finding her own release with a beautiful gasp.
You had planned for her to catch her breath but she was moving before you could comprehend that she was, your legs being pushed back against your chest to expose your soaked cunt to her as she lay down on her stomach, eyes connecting with yours as her mouth dropped to your pussy.
She began by licking up everything you had spilt, moaning at the taste of yours and her juices, tongue pushing through your folds before teasing your hole that was still twitching to be filled. Your hands replaced hers with holding up your leg, of which she gave a long lick up your entire middle as a reward, now freeing up her hands. With one, she spread you open, giving her the perfect view of your clit and hole and then she was diving right in, her lips sealing around your clit and sucking whilst two of her powerful fingers pushed inside of you, curling instantly about your special spot.
"Oh my god- Natasha!" you moaned, and you could feel her smiling against your bundle of nerves at your reaction, seeing your eyes closed to concentrate solely on the pleasure that was being given you. This was all you had wanted for weeks, to be with her, spend time touching and pleasuring each other's bodies, feel the bond glowing and strengthening with the time spent together.
Natasha's skilled tongue and fingers drew a toe-curling orgasm out of you, your back arching to try and grind your hips on her face. She had been a master at work, her eyes never leaving your face as she watched you go through all the stages of pleasure.
You were then rolling the two of you over, and you wanted nothing more than repay her with your tongue but you still had to be careful of the stitches on your forehead. So instead, you used your fingers in her soaking cunt and your mouth sucked leisurely on her nipples which had her clenching around your fingers, your thumb stroking against her throbbing clit.
"Milaya, don't stop", Natasha cried out, hands clenching into the sheet below, her thighs shaking around your hand, a pink glow to her cheeks as she watched you move from one breast to the next. You didn't stop, wouldn't stop until she was cuming around you and the way her walls were becoming tighter, her breaths coming out in short bursts you knew it would be soon.
"Cum for me 'Tasha, wanna hear your moans", you encouraged after releasing her nipple for a second and then going straight back to sucking it harshly into the back of your mouth.
"Ah! Yes-!", Nat's eyes rolled back as she began quivering around your fingers and you didn't stop your movements, making sure to draw out every ounce of pleasure that you could, until her hips jolted through overstimulation.
Easing your fingers out of you, you quickly drew them to your mouth, moaning at the sweet taste of her before she was sitting up and kissed your lips. Her tongue stroked against yours and you could taste yourself on her, and you hoped she could do the same taste herself on your mouth.
Then you were both collapsing into the middle of the bed, limbs tangled together facing one another and trying to catch your breaths, sweat glistening off of your bodies. Smiling softly at her beautiful expression, feeling her thumb stroke near to your stitches, you asked, "what's going on in that head of yours?"
"I'm just thankful you're here with me, I don't know what I'd do if something happened to you", she admitted in nothing more than a whispering volume.
Reaching to take her hand in your own, you kissed her knuckles, feeling the scars beneath your lips, "You don't ever have to worry about that baby".

"How hard is it to fucking behave?" You don't even notice that Natasha slapped you until you heard the loud crack.
Your eyes immediately fill with tears and you bring your hand up to soothe your cheek. You can tell that your cheek is going to bruise by the throbbing pain.
"I give you everything and this is how you repay me?" Natasha yells, stepping further towards you and cornering you into a wall, "This is the 5th time you've tried to escape this month."
You're quiet. You're always quiet whenever Natasha yells at you.
"You know what?" Natasha grabs a handful of your hair, dragging you towards the front door, "You wanna leave so badly, huh? Get out."
Your heart drops as Natasha throws you out into the cold night, slamming the door behind you and locking it. Immediately, you start banging on the door, begging her to let you back inside.
"Natasha, please! I'm sorry." You cry, your fist starting to ache, "I'll be good, I promise."
After 10 minutes of begging and banging on the door, you realise that Wanda wasn't going to let you back in. She doesn't love you anymore. Your heart breaks at that realisation.
You pick yourself off the floor and walk away from the door, travelling down the rows of apartments. You pause when you hear a door open in front of you, revealing a woman with brown hair. She’s wearing a nightgown and looks like she was about to sleep.
"You okay, detka?" She asks kindly, concern written all over her face.
You feel comfort in her words as Natasha always calls you 'detka'. You don't know what language it is, but you love hearing it.
Your face must be stained in tears because the moment you close enough to her, the woman wraps her arms around you, tightly hugging you and kissing the top of your head.
"Do you wanna stay with me tonight?" She offers.
With a simple nod from you, she leads you into her apartment. Her apartment is cozy. There are lit candles and shelves filled with many books. The woman leads you over to the couch, giving you a blanket and a pillow.
"My name is Wanda." She introduces herself.
As she introduces herself, you realise that you're in a stranger's house without the protection of Wanda and start to panic. You feel helpless and vulnerable without Natasha.
"Y/n, breathe, it's okay." You don't even notice that Wanda somehow knows your name in your panicked state.
"I-I don't know you." You mumble, shuffling away from Wanda. Wanda crouches down in front of you, her hands coming up to rest on her knees, keeping you in place and unable to move away from her.
"You're safe with me, Y/n." Wanda's face is soft and her words are convincing. Wanda looks behind you and stands up, "Do you like to read?"
You nod your head, watching her pull a book from her bookshelf. She places it in your lap and you hesitantly pick it up.
"Read aloud for me," Wanda says, returning to her original place. You open the book and start to read the first page confidently. You've always been a good reader. Suddenly, Wanda grabs onto your thighs, pulling you closer to her and spreading them apart. You let out a squeal and immediately try to close your thighs, but Wanda's too strong. "Keep reading, detka." She demands, her fingers slowly moving up to your clit, rubbing soft circles over the fabric.
You start to protest, "My mo- my girlfriend says only she can touch me there." Your face heats up at your slip-up, praying that Wanda wouldn't notice.
"Your mommy says it's okay," Wanda smirks at your blushing face.
You start to question what Wanda means but are unable to get a word out as Wanda pushes your panties to the side and roughly pushes her fingers into you, curling them and pumping them into you.
You drop the book and cover your mouth with your hand, muffing your loud moans.
Wanda pulls your hand away with her free hand and puts the book back into your hands.
"Read," Wanda demands, her thumb coming up and rubbing your clit. You let out a whimper and start to read the book again. Your words are shaky and whiny, and you can't control the deep blush that flushes across your face as Wanda starts to tease you.
"Awe, baby, can't you read? You really are a dumb little baby, aren't you? You just need your mommy and daddy to look after you."
You shake your head, trying to deny words that you both know are true.
"You couldn't even wait 20 minutes, Wanda? How pathetic." Natasha's voice makes you pause and look over at the front door with wide eyes. You didn't even hear her come in.
As Natasha starts to move closer, you start to feel very exposed and try to close your thighs around Wanda's hand. Natasha tsks at you and Wanda forces your thighs back apart.
"Dumb little girl, you couldn't even control yourself from letting another woman touch you?"
You start to deny her words, trying to explain how you told Wanda that she couldn't touch you but Wanda curls her fingers, hitting the spot that immediately makes you see stars. Your back arches and you let out a whiny moan as you cum around her fingers.
Natasha grabs Wanda's hair and pulls her into a kiss. Wanda moans softly and you can feel yourself getting even wetter by the second.
"Nat-" Wanda moans out, her breathing laboured as the other woman starts to play with her tits through her shirt, tugging and pinching the nipple between her fingers.
You whine loudly, disliking the sudden lack of attention.
Natasha pulls away from Wanda with a laugh. She likes to hear how desperate you get.
"Make her feel good, Wands." Natasha helps the younger girl back onto her knees before turning her attention back to you. "And keep reading, baby."
You obediently pick up the book and start to read again. Wanda pushes your panties back to the side and easily slips her fingers into you. Her mouth wraps around your clit, and you moan, grabbing her hair and pulling her closer to you.
Your attention is quickly pulled over to Natasha when she moans loudly. She's sitting on the couch across from you with her hands in her pants, getting off at the sight in front of her.
"Don't stop reading, Y/n." Natasha's voice is surprisingly strong and steady compared to her flustered state.
You shake your head, letting the book slide out of your hands as your head drops forward, "I'm gonna cum, daddy." You warn, your fingers digging into the couch to steady yourself.
Wanda immediately pulls away from you, her lips shining with your slick as she looks back at you with blown-out pupils. You want to whine about her ruining your orgasm, but you know better.
Natasha's orgasm quickly washes over her. Her moan is silent and she continues to stimulate her clit until she's too sensitive.
"Come here, Wanda." Natasha holds her fingers out to Wanda, grinning when the girl wraps her mouth around them, sucking them clean.
"Such a good girl," Natasha mutters and Wanda blushes at the praise.
Natasha finally turns her attention to you. Your eyes are filled with tears threatening to fall over.
"Awe, poor baby. Did you want to cum?" Natasha softly grabs onto your chin, making you look up at her.
You nod, letting the tears fall down your cheeks.
"Too bad." Natasha lightly slaps your cheek before undressing herself and Wanda, revealing your favourite strap.

YOU’RE STUCK WITH ME
CHAPTER ONE HELLO, NEIGHBOUR
Steve Rogers stands before the sleek new digital coffee maker on his kitchen counter, his fingers fumbling with the confusing array of buttons.
“Come on,” he mutters under his breath, blue eyes narrowing in concentration. The machine beeps in protest, flashing symbols that might as well be hieroglyphs for all the sense they make to him.
Back in his day, he reminisces as he jabs futilely at the modern contraption, all he needed were some grounds, water, and a bit of heat. So, why does this have to be so complicated?
But the LED display just flickers mockingly at him before flashing an error message, which only adds insult to injury.
As Steve stands there, engaged in his silent battle with technology, his phone vibrates on the counter. It’s from Natasha, and for a minute, he thinks he’s being called into work. Instead, her words pop up on the screen like tiny grenades:
Natasha: Have you asked out Sharon yet?  Natasha: She’s cute AND a nurse—practical for a guy who gets shot at for a living.
He sighs, pocketing his phone as he leans against the counter. Sharon is cute, he relents, but asking her out means stepping into unfamiliar territory.
He tells himself that he can’t afford any distractions, thinking about his duty to SHIELD, about the literal shield that feels a bit heavier with each passing day. After Peggy, Bucky, the ice… he didn’t feel like it was fair to drag an innocent civilian into this crazy life of his.
A lot of the time he still feels like that awkward and skinny Brooklyn boy, who had never even danced with a woman before, let alone go on a date with one. They had always looked at him with a sad mix of pity and derision, would much rather hang off the arm of someone like Bucky.
And despite his now… enhanced, shall we say, appearance, the looks of admiration he often gets now just seem to ring hollow.
He knows Natasha means well. She understands the weight of history he carries in his heart, as she’s got her own demons she fights to keep at bay. So, Steve never faults her for encouraging him to have a life outside of work… even if she doesn’t necessarily take her own advice.
Well, he knows shockingly little about her, so he doesn’t know that for sure.
Shaking his head, Steve decides to give the coffee machine one last chance, pushing what he hopes is the right combination of buttons. The machine whirrs affirmatively, and victory seems to be within reach for one hopeful minute—until it sputters pathetically and then goes dark altogether.
“Ah, forget it!” Giving up, Steve unplugs the machine, deciding that he’ll just have to conquer the world of espresso another day.
Clad in a simple t-shirt and jeans, a far cry from his Captain America garb, he decides to head downstairs to the Starbucks on the first floor.
At least there, getting coffee is easy.
Tumblr media
Just down the hallway, you stand before your dresser, rummaging through its contents.
When your hand finally emerges victorious, it’s clutching the lone survivor of your clean underwear collection—a single polka-dotted testament to your chronic procrastination.
Laundry day cannot be ignored any longer, not unless you wanted to start fashioning outfits out of your dish towels.
Resignation slumps your shoulders as you zip around your apartment to gather the scattered attire strewn across the floor, each garment snatched up and tossed unceremoniously into the gaping maw of your laundry basket.
With the basket brimming, you wedge a hip against it to keep everything contained. You move slowly towards the door, putting on a pair of slippers, only to be stopped by the sound of whimpering coming from your couch.
“No, Chuck,” you remind your unofficial roommate, a German Shepherd who goes by the name of Charlie—or Chuck, as you prefer to call him. “You can’t come. You are banned from the laundry room after ‘the incident’.”
But Chuck’s tail continues to wag hopefully, his large brown eyes shining, his head tilted to the side in the very picture of innocence.
You soften, but only a touch when you remember him peeing all over your freshly washed, neatly folded laundry, meaning you had to start all over again.
“Nice try, buddy,” you give him a half-hearted glare. He lets out a soft woof, and you swear you see judgment in his eyes as he looks at your leaning tower of laundry. Well, what does he know, the big oaf? He licks his own butt. “Couch fortress until I return, okay?”
The hallway outside your door is its usual self—stale air, the faint smell of someone’s burnt breakfast, and the muffled echo of someone’s TV playing what sounds like a rerun of I Love Lucy.
As you round the corner, the hairs on the back of your neck stand at attention. There, leaning against the wall with a casual grace that flies in the face of a man who leaps out of planes and fights aliens for a living, is him.
Captain America himself, in all his star-spangled glory, waiting for the same ride down to the lobby.
Oh, no. Nnnnope.
You are not taking the elevator with Steve freaking Rogers, carrying an arm full of your unwashed unmentionables while dressed in old PJs and a tank top. There is no way!
The urge to run back to the safety of your apartment is strong, where neither your couch nor your dog have arms that could bench press a Buick.
Maybe you could step back behind the corner, make a run for the stairwell, or maybe even pull the damn fire alarm—
But it’s too late. He’s heard you, already twisting slightly at his narrowed waist and tossing a glance back at you over his shoulder.
“Hey, neighbour,” he smiles. Your heart does an unwelcome somersault.
Well, at least the elevator ride would be quick… right?

Notes — So, to encourage my writing, I’ve decided to make each chapter exactly 1,000 words, no more and no less. It’s harder than I thought it would be! But it also takes the pressure off to hit a longer word count and helps me manage the pacing. I hope you enjoy!

(Wanda's outfit)
___________
"Mama." You called your mother as you walked back upstairs from the basement after spending more than an hour working on the new art project you had picked. Trying to hold back the beaming smile that appeared on your lips every time you think of how excited the woman would be once she would see your new art piece.
"Are you going somewhere?" You asked when you saw the woman looking through her purse for the keys. Her hands pushing aside content and placing some of them on the couch, the glass bracelet you made for her on her wrist reminded you of your first project, you were so excited to bring it to your mother. The woman would always wear it with her black shirt, like now. "Yeah. Yelena." Natasha answered and you nodded before you walked over to the bowl and threw the keys on the couch knowing exactly what she was looking for and Natasha gave you a grateful smile before her eyes got the familiar mischief look in them.
"Don't even!" You warned while sitting on the couch opposite her. Ready to fight her if she brought it up again. Recently she had started joking about getting Alzheimer's with how much she was forgetting stuff and the amount of things she misplaced and forgotten."What? I didn't say anything."
"Yeah because I stopped you." You murmured while picking up the walnuts on the table to eat a few. Ever since Natasha mentioned this forgetfulness, you had placed a bowl of various nuts on the table, after learning that the omega fatty acid helps with memory. You knew that she had been only joking about it but deep down the fear of losing her in any way scares you to your core. You wondered if the woman was aware of it, you didn't show it all that much but then you shook the thought away. She was your mother. Of course she would know.
"Okay, Malyshka, I will be back in a few hours after dealing with your aunt." Natasha grumbled at the end and you smiled in amusement, as much as your mother complained about your aunt, she couldn't deny the entertainment the woman brought to your house. You could already think of Natasha coming home and telling you all about it as you two cooked dinner.
Natasha picked up her bag and kissed your forehead as she walked past you. "See you." You picked up your phone, wondering if you should drop a text to Wanda, maybe let her know how you were going to be alone for the next few hours but decided to not disturb the blonde, instead focused on replying to her last text asking about your progress on the project.
It had been only fifteen minutes or so when you heard the doorbell. Your first thoughts were your mother forgetting something but then remembered the package, Natasha took for the neighbors earlier in the morning. You opened the door, expecting your neighbour for their package but was greeted with a sight of none other than your girlfriend, Wanda Maximoff. You usually wouldn't be caught off guard by her presence as she would always pay you surprise visit but this time, it felt different. In all your years of knowing her, one thing you had always noticed about the woman was the way she took care of herself, especially while going out so it was safe to say you had never seen Wanda in anything less than a picture perfect outfit but this time she had outdone herself.
She was wearing a blue dress with a deep neckline to reveal her cream color Brasserie that left her top half of the breasts uncovered to the point where you could see the mole on her left breast, driving you insane. You were left with an extreme urge to kiss the small spot, suck it to your heart's desire. A part of you wondered if she did it on purpose, revealing it all, knowing you won't be able to touch or play until she allows it and you couldn't even recall the last time she let you play with them. Not even a single kiss to your favorite spot. The dress tied around her waist, highlighting her figure and a slit till mid thighs where you could catch a glimpse of the soft and smooth flesh.
"Hey.." You greeted breaking a very long moment of silence after you realised that you do own functional vocal chords. If rendered speechless was really something, you were sure you were experiencing it right there in that moment. Your eyes flickered back and forth between the exposed bra and the way it softly cupped her breast, supporting them in the right way.
"Are you going to let me in or stare at my chest some more, Detka?" Wanda questioned, a smirk of accomplishment playing on her lips when you flushed a shade of red she was well acquainted with. She pushed her sunglasses up on her head and stared into your eyes, a smile of adoration when you avoided eye contact, getting shy under her gaze. Her hand lightly played with her hair that she had let down today.
"Of course..come in." You pulled the door back letting her in, your body working on auto pilot while your eyes kept on roaming up and down her figure, you had to literally take a deep breath to stop yourself. A tiny voice at the back of your head finding this all suspicious, the timing, the dress and especially the knowing smile playing on the blonde's lips but you pushed it back further, wanting to enjoy the view in front of you.
Wanda stepped in, her fingers brushing your arm sensually as she walked past you. Sometimes you didn't even know if she would do it on purpose or if it had embedded itself in her subconscious, the constant need to touch anywhere or everywhere every few minutes. Even when you two were children, Wanda would come up to you every fifteen minutes claiming a 'Huggy Time' or "Kissy Time" and would smother you in hugs and kisses. Now it has become a way for you two to make each other smile whenever one of you gets upset over something. You could still remember the first time little Wanda did it and you were too shocked to move, almost afraid of her but slowly the little girl swept her way into your small heart and you would start looking forward to those special moments with your best friend.
Wanda walked ahead in the corridor, her eyes briefly glancing to the pictures of a baby Y/N, 8-9 year old with Natasha, smiling a toothy grin but still having a timid look as the redhead hugged the child in her arm attempting to bite the cotton candy, the kid was holding. Another frame held a picture of Y/N painting with Natasha, laughing with her throwing her head back, missing a tooth as Natasha looked lovingly at her, their hand prints scattered in front of them on various white sheets. It always reminded her how even when little, Y/N had a really artistic side.
The frame she loved the most was the one where Y/N and Wanda were covered in mud, laughing at the camera holding each other's hands. The little Wanda was trying to throw mud at whoever was taking the picture and little you were trying to stop her. It reflected your childhood personalities and friendship really well. Wanda being a lot more outgoing than you as kids, she would be fighting your bullies, protecting you from the mean kids, including you in all her games, dragging you out to play with her helping you out from your shy indoor self and you would calm Wanda down from her excited state, stop her from making any bad decision especially the one that might cost you two 'good behaviour cookies', you would listen to her go off about the random of things without losing interest something other kids tend to do quite often.
Wanda enjoyed looking at the pictures, they always seemed to remind her how lucky she was to be here with you, after everything that could have gone differently, she made it on time and here she was aware that she could bring you to smile for the rest of her days, like in those frames. There wasn't anything stopping her from holding your hand. Kissing you. Calling you her girlfriend, claiming you in every way possible.
"You want something to drink?" You asked Wanda watching her look at the pictures on the wall as she gave a nod, you were glad for the distraction, allowing you to take in to her beauty without her noticing, knowing you would be too embarrassed if caught by her again. You started leading her to the kitchen.
"Mama isn't home." You mentioned it casually while walking into the open kitchen, taking out some ice ready to put in the vegetable smoothie Natasha makes in bulk for when Wanda is over. "Oh really? Where's she off to?" Wanda asked while sitting on the stool, legs crossing over top of each other, her elbows placed on the island with her head on her hand as she watched you, the look in her eyes making you shudder but you reasoned it with the ice you were holding in your hands.
"Aunt Yelena." That was enough of the explanation as Wanda nodded taking her drink from you, aware of your aunt and her antics. "Did you and Steven sort it out with Darcy?" Wanda asked while wrapping her lips around the straw, sucking up the liquid, winking at you when you paused to look at her, causing you to blush and stutter out an answer, "He-He is over to her place."
"Ha..I see." She nodded listening to your explanation on why Darcy was mad at Steven and how you were in between trying to get the duo to reconcile again when you finished, you let out a surprised gasp when Wanda grasped your tshirt pulling your face closer, "Hey.." You squeaked out a greeting and Wanda laughed softly, closing her eyes very briefly as if to capture the moment in her memory and your embarrassment turned into a smile at the melodious sound.
"Hi. Why don't you try this?" Wanda moved the straw toward you and you grimaced, quickly replacing it with a nervous smile when the older girl narrowed her eyes, "It's good for your health." She pushed it closer, the straw on your lips. You could smell the lavender body wash off her with being this close to her. You could not help but inhale it subtly before slowly gulping the leafy liquid down as fast as you could without tasting much of it. Wanda always being very particular about your eating routine, knowing you sometimes would end up skipping meals in between working on your projects. If she wasn't constantly checking up on you through her texts, she would make sure you get enough sources of iron and other minerals through disgusting smoothies like this.
"That's it.." You tried pulling away but her grip remained firm keeping you in place, "One more. Please." Wanda requested but her voice sounded far from requesting, the gaze of steel she gave you had you almost whining out loud but you could hardly do anything against the dirty blonde haired girl. Between the two of you, she would always get her way with you. But this time you blamed your mother for even making this horrendous liquid, knowing very well she would purposely do it knowing Wanda would make sure you consume it with her.
You finished taking another sip and tried moving away but Wanda didn't allow it and you raised your eyebrows in question but the blonde answered with a sweet smile that reached her eyes as she pulled you in, placing her lips onto yours and you could feel the strawberry chapstick of hers, letting out a tiny moan at the familiar taste, remembering it to be your favorite chapstick of hers. Remembering the first time you tasted it.
You were spending your time on Wanda's bed, chilling with your comic while Wanda got ready for one of her parties, you never attended those with her. The loud music and the people getting drunk was the last thing you would want to see. She was looking through her cosmetics and occasionally you would pick something up and ask Wanda its purpose being completely surprised each time with the answer. You were enjoying your scavenger hunt within her products when you came across the strawberry chapstick opening it and being so amazed at the smell asking Wanda if it tasted that way too. The older girl had only smirked at your question, taking it from you and putting it on her lips before placing her lips on yours, letting you taste the chapstick. The small kiss turned into a makeout session. Needless to say, a few hours later the sorority leader's phone was blowing with texts and calls that were drawn under the moans and screams she elicited from you.
"What's the occasion?" You asked when Wanda finally let you go, enjoying the daze she had left you in from her kiss. "I can't be nice to my puppy without an occasion?" Wanda asked, one eyebrow raised while she swirled the smoothie around.
"Of course you can, Daddy." You answered still not very convinced but if she was giving you special treatment, you were more than willing to welcome it though a part of you kept on wondering as Wanda pulled you into another kiss effectively blocking your thoughts.
Liho jumped on the counter getting in between you and Wanda stopping the kissing effectively, pulling away disgruntled at the disturbance, "I think your mother has trained her into doing all this." Wanda almost shot daggers at the cat who was now comfortable in your arms, giving Wanda one of her famous stares.
You laughed while petting the feline, "I don't know anymore. She is always fine around Darcy." You rubbed your face against the cat, softly giggling at the tingly sensation from her whiskers, before letting it go, "Of course. She hates me only." Wanda watched the two of you interact, a smile of adoration forming on her lips when she heard you laugh.
"That's not true. She is just protective of me." You corrected while you moved the straw from Wanda's drink around in the air watching as Liho tried to fight it. "Oh really? And what danger do you have from me?" Wanda asked, her voice taking in on a suggesting tone and with years of training from the sorority leader, you quickly caught onto it.
"Well what if you try to take advantage of me when my girlfriend isn't around?" You asked playing along, a little more shyly than Wanda but the tingle in her eyes was enough to drive away any shyness, replacing it with an urge to please her.
"Well, Where is she then?" Wanda asked before taking on a tone of fake sympathy, "Does she not take care of you?" She added in a sultry voice, looking you up from head to toe, making your knees feel weak as you squirmed in your place.
"She wouldn't like me telling you such stuff. I don't even know you." You answered her, avoiding her gaze as if she was telling the truth while trying to hold back your smile at the pout on her lips as she carefully approached your side and you gave her a look of suspicion.
"It could be our secret. She doesn't have to know." You let out a small gasp at her suggestion while Wanda used her fingernail to trace random patterns on your arm, she leaned in and once again you loved the height difference, as you stared at her chest, almost not noticing how close she was getting, "Tell me what you need.." She whispered in your ear, licking the shell of your ear before placing a kiss on it. Knowing exactly how much you love it. You were glad for the hold she had on your arm otherwise you would have fallen at the jolt of electricity you felt at her touch.
"I need you." You looked into Wanda's eyes and tried leaning in to kiss her, whining when the woman grabbed you by your throat, holding your head still, her lips brushing yours, turning your whine into a whimper when she squeezed your neck. Her eyes holding you in place as her thumb graze your bottom lip pulling it down slowly before pushing it into your mouth, you instantly started sucking on it with the aim of pleasing the woman in hopes she would return the favor and be a little easier on you. You could see she liked it with the way she took a sharp inhale, closing her eyes momentarily before speaking up again.
"Tell me exactly what you need me to do." Wanda retreated her thumb back to your bottom lip not before wiping your spit on your cheek, smacking it lightly when you immediately didn't start speaking, "I..I need you to touch me. Play with me." You whispered trying to look away as heat rushed up to your cheeks but the hold Wanda had on your throat didn't allow you to look anywhere else but her.
"Where?" She prodded further, her hand squeezing your throat again. You could feel your heartbeat in your throat and you wondered if the older girl also felt it underneath her hand. You longed to know if it was driving her crazy the way it was driving you.
"Wand-" You started to speak but Wanda immediately cut you off.
"Ah ah, I asked, Where, draga mea?" The endearment rolled off her tongue and you knew she wasn't going to stop until you gave in. Wanda Maximoff was in full control of you.
"I-I need you to play with my pussy."
Wanda took a sharp intake and you noticed the dilation of her pupils as she let go of your throat. "Go." She whispered, her eyes flickering up to where your room was and back to you which was enough for you to know what she wanted.
______
"Strip." Wanda commanded, sucking in her bottom lip as her eyes raked down up and down your body with the lust she barely cared to hide. Ever since you had accidentally expressed your body image issues to Wanda, she had made sure to tell you how gorgeous you were, all the scars on your body, the stretch marks you loathed seemed to make you even more beautiful in her eyes. A concept that was hard for you to understand right now but the possibility wasn't completely shut down.
"Beautiful.." Wanda whispered when your naked flesh was revealed, for a moment your insecurities almost made you discard the compliment but the mesmerized look in her eyes had you flushing a deep shade of red especially when she got closer and started kissing every inch of the exposed skin from your stomach to the side of your ribs, just below your bra while her hands slowly started taking off your bra, kissing the flesh that she revealed while getting rid of the piece of cloth. In mere seconds you found yourself down on the bed, naked from the top as you stared up at her still clothed form, your eyes lingered at her chest.
The glass heart pendant you made her in your first year of college was hanging from her neck when she got on top of you and you noticed the way it rested just above her cleavage. The lust in your eyes burned down to the love you felt in that moment when the pendant reminded you who you were to her. No matter how much you two indulge in the most obscene of fantasies, in the end you were in the safest hands, of someone who loves you and would never let anything happen to you.
Wanda must have noticed your gaze fixated on the pendant and she did one of the sexiest and romantic things she could have done as she brought up the pendant to her lips and placed a kiss on it. "Eyes on me, Pup." You felt heat in your cheeks.
"Sorry, Daddy." You gave her a shy smile before moving to wrap your hands around her neck to pull her in for a kiss but was stopped by her grabbing your hands together to tie it with a ribbon you didn't even know was there, "I am afraid a sorry won't cut it." Wanda gave you a teasing smile and you gave her an innocent look playing along, "What will I have to do, Daddy?"
"You my Detka, need to be punished." Wanda whispered, her face inches away from you as she started kissing your lips, devouring them, making you moan in her mouth when she bit your lip, her hand roaming up your thighs, cupping your pussy over your panties sliding in between your lips on your throbbing clit, "Mmm so wet and we haven't started." Wanda whispered against your lips before pulling away, "Who would have thought a mommy's girl like you would be such a whore.." Wanda said as she took off your shorts, leaving you shivering at the cold air making contact with your core.
You whimpered when her hand made contact with your pussy in a smack stopping you from trying to arch yourself more into her, "Down, pup." She reminded you while she started working on her dress, slowly pulling the straps down her shoulder, laughing sadistically you would say, when you whined, longing to touch her. "Bad puppies don't get to touch."
Slowly she got rid of the dress, her eyes locked on you and you could see the effort she was putting in not jumping you. You squirmed in your binds when her bra clad breasts were in front of you, your attention again shifting to the tiny mole that seemed to mock you of your helplessness, so close yet so far out of you reach. You wanted nothing but to learn forward and place your lips on it, Wanda smirked in satisfaction when she noticed the look on your face, her hand moving up your thigh, nails tracing the skin gradually moving up to your pussy, hovering over the flesh but not giving it to you yet causing you to whimper in need. "Daddy..please don't tease." You pleaded and put on your most pathetic face hoping Wanda would take pity on you but the witch only seemed to laugh.
"How adorable. What do you want, Darling?" Wanda asked, her hands playing with your chest, squeezing the soft mounds while her thumb rolled the nipple around, bringing the soft nub to harden.
"Make me cum." You answered and immediately wished you hadn't as the mistake registered in your brain along with the hand that immediately came down on your wet pussy in a sharp spank and your body didn't understand how to react, the pain mixing with pleasure when her hand contacted your swollen clitoris. "Is that how you ask me?" Wanda asked, her eyes fierce and you could tell that you messed up with the way one of her eyebrows was raised in question and if her hand wasn't busy hovering over your pussy as a reminder of what was going to come next if you didn't do something, she would have them crossed over her chest.
"No! No. I meant to say please please make me cum. I swear." You pleaded, your eyes fixated on her hand as you flexed your thighs knowing you couldn't do anything if she were to decide on a spanking, but it never came as Wanda hummed weighing your words, "On my terms." She declared at last and you nodded about to thank her when her hand came down on your core again in a quick spank but before you could cry or protest, the hand didn't move instead parted your lips and dipped into your wet folds causing you to moan.
You wanted to arch up your hips, guide Wanda better but you refrained from doing knowing Wanda would definitely leave you tied up if you made another mistake and the past encounters were enough to remind you how Wanda knew your body better than you. "Ah..Daddy." You moaned loudly when two of Wanda's fingers went inside you at once the wetness allowed them in without any resistance, followed by another. You gasped for breath when she scissored her fingers inside you hitting all the right spots. Soon enough you could feel your walls tighten and an orgasm building up which you were sure Wanda was aware of as the moment you looked at her, her eyes were already on you watching you like a hawk as she shook her head 'No' and you whimpered while trying your best to not let go knowing the consequences would be severe.
"Do you not want it? I don't see you begging for permission." Wanda's fingers started slowing down after a few moments as she mocked you with a tsked of her tongue and you instantly opened your mouth to plead for your dying high.
"Please Daddy..Please let me cum." You closed your eyes tightly as your cheeks flushed a shade darker, trying to search for the dying pleasure, so desperately wanting to move your legs, rub your thighs together, arch your back but Wanda had trained you into mentally binding yourself. You wouldn't move until given permission, too aware of the consequences."I know you can do better than this." Wanda taunted while curling her finger and you almost arched up into her at the sudden jolt of pleasure.
"Please. I will do whatever.. whatever you want.. anything..just don't stop. Please, Daddy" You cried out when she slowed down again, edging you to your orgasm and stopping. It was becoming her favourite game. "Look at me." Wanda whispered, her face mere inches away from you as you opened your eyes to stare in her emerald eyes. "Anything?" She asked and you nodded while biting your lip, "Anything you want." The moment those words left your mouth, Wanda's lips attacked yours.
Her fingers started moving at a faster pace, her thumb playing with your clit, it took mere seconds for her to build up your orgasm again, "Hold it." Wanda whispered in your ear when she stopped kissing you, her lips leaving butterfly kisses down your jaw to neck, you whined at her command wondering what she was thinking before her mouth dropped on your left nipple, sucking and biting the hard nub to life as your senses exploded with pleasure. "Please.." All you could do was beg, your body trying its best to hold back the climax it desired the most.
Wanda played with your chest a little before moving down to your pussy and you almost cried out in relief when she attached her mouth to your clit, sucking the bundle of nerves before tapping your thigh twice an indication that you could let go, you didn't have to be told twice as you let your body reach its climax. Your toes curled as the knot uncurled in the most pleasurably painful way letting you relax as you fall back on the bed, breathing heavier than usual, gasping for breath, whimpering when Wanda started licking up your juices before slowly coming up. You watched the woman with your hooded eyes, as she slowly licked the drops of cum off the glass heart hanging from her neck winking at you when your face heated up in the darkest shade of red possible, "Thank you." You whispered after a moment when your breathing finally calmed enough.
"It's not over yet." Wanda pecked your lips and your eyes widen in fear, afraid for your already tired body, you shook your head but Wanda only smile at you. The mean smile she would reserve for moment like these, "I don't think I can." You tugged at your hands and Wanda brushed your hair away from your eyes as her fingers already started working you up. "What? I thought you wanted to cum?" Wanda asked and you only answered with a moan mixed with a whimper of pain. It felt bitter sweet.
"I am sure, You can handle one more for me, Detka." Wanda flexed her fingers, her other hand rolling your nipple as her hand squeezed the flesh leaving you a writhing mess underneath her. "Pl-Please." You didn't know if you wanted her to stop or for her to continue but begging her seemed to be the only thing you could think of as you assumed that Wanda would know what you want but when her fingers started slowing down again as she reminded you of your promise of doing anything and you nodded, just wanting her to continue the sinful things she was doing to your body.
"The party on Saturda-"
"Yes Yes Yes." You cut her off, whimpering when Wanda pinched your nipple as a consequence of your action. "Will you accompany me?" Wanda finished and you nodded before verbally responding with an answer and Wanda let you have your second orgasm as the reality of the situation started sinking in you but you were too tired in that moment to react especially when Wanda laid down next to you, her face next to yours as she unbind your hands, you closed your legs and whimpered quietly at the sensitivity. "Thank you." Wanda looked into your eyes with such happiness that you felt pleased with your decision to say yes, grinning tiredly to yourself ignoring the embarrassment from being completely naked while Wanda was still wearing her undies. Wanda slowly sat up and the excitement returned in your eyes when the woman started taking off her bra, no wonder Wanda called you puppy with how fast you were salivating at the prospect of seeing her naked chest.
Wanda glanced back at you and when she noticed your tired yet hungry gaze fixated on her chest, she couldn't help but let out a laugh, "Aww my baby, come here." She cooed and you ignored the flushing in your cheek as you followed her lead, laying back on the bed, she guided you to her chest and you instantly placed a kiss on her mole, hearing her let out a sigh of content. Wanda loved everytime you kissed her mole, the first kiss would be anything but sexual, it would be purely out of admiration and love for her body and her. She didn't know if you did it purposely but everytime you would snuggle close or share a moment of intimacy, your mouth would find her left breast placing a kiss where the mole was, clothed or naked. It was an oddly cute habit of yours, one she would never wish to change.
You were slowly drifting off with a content smile, your lips wrapped around her nipple while her hand ran through your hair, sometimes scratching the scalp soothingly pushing you into a sleepy state only to end it when she pulled her breast away from your mouth, turning your content smile into a frown as the woman started getting up as well, muttering something about cleaning you up but you only desired to stay close to her. "Nooo." You held onto her a little tighter, determined to not give up this time refusing to let go causing Wanda to let out a laugh, "Fine. Five minutes." Wanda relented after a moment, her voice firm, holding finality and in that moment you were even grateful for the three hundred seconds if it meant being close to her, hearing her beating heart that used to scare you of each passing second but now it only left you with a feeling of content of the days you had ahead with her in each other's embrace.

You yawn into the sleeve of your sweater, rolling your shoulders back and pursing your lips slightly as you scroll through the local events page. One of the issues that Bradshaw’s faces, is that not many people seem to take notice of what it is. It’s been here for thirty years, and most of the neighbours just assume that there’s trouble inside and walk on by.
It’s hard to blame them, when you hear stories of what the place used to be like. Of what Bradley used to be like.
But downtown isn’t what it used to be, there’s a big community here now, and it would do wonders for the gym to be involved in that.
Maverick’s office smells like cigarettes, even though he gave up smoking ten years ago. There’s a lamp on each of the two desks that illuminates the room in an aged, amber glow. It’s completely quiet, and has been since the gym shut an hour ago.
Jake glances up at you from over by Maverick’s desk. “I heard a rumour about you, you know.”
You lift your chin to look at him. Your cheeks grow warm at the cocky smirk on his face as he leans back in his chair and tucks his hands behind his head, flipping the toothpick in his mouth.
“I heard a rumour about you too.” You answer back quietly, a smile creeping its way onto your lips. Jake chuckles, his cheeks dimpling across the room.
“You and the big guy, huh?” Jake raises his eyebrows at you, giving an amused shake of his head as he stretches his legs out under the desk. Paperwork is the most boring part of his job, gossiping with you helps the time pass along.
“You and Natasha.” You answer back, smiling softly at him before you turn your gaze back to the computer.
“Well, what can I say? — She can’t get enough of me. But who can blame her?” He shrugs. You snort at him, shaking your head. You both know she would hit him in the nuts if she heard him say that. “Who can blame you, either. Rooster’s a good looking guy. And he’s hung like a horse.”
“Jake!” You splutter, eyes going wide, face burning as you gawk at him across the office. This time, he really laughs, beaming at how easy you are to fluster.
He sits back in his chair and cocks his head at you, like he’s trying to piece together the complex little puzzle that you are.
“I’m just playing,” He smiles across at you. It’s strange, sitting here and having this vulgar of a conversation with Jake, and wanting to smile back at him anyway. “Is he being nice to you or do I have to say something to him?”
Your mouth twitches. He almost gets you to crack a smile at him. Instead, you twist your mouth into a stern but amused smile.
“He’s alright when he wants to be,” You answer him, earning another soft chuckle from the gym manager. “How’s… Natasha?”
Jake presses his tongue to the inside of his cheek and exhales, that smile still toying at his lips. “Alright. When she wants to be.”
You huff out a soft sound of amusement and turn your attention back to your work. Jake really doesn’t want to go back to his.
“Look, kid,” He swallows as he sits forwards and suddenly that smile is gone, his lips pressing into a line. “I’m happy for you. I am. And, call me selfish, but I like having you around here. I don’t want anything to ruin this place for you.”
Your nails tap away at the keyboard as you draft the email. “Anything… being Rooster, right?”
“He’s a big softie, I’m sure. But he’s a complicated guy.”
That seems to be everyone’s opinion of him. You know that it’s true. You’ve seen the scars that litter his body. You know that he’s afraid of being alone — his apartment has sat empty for most of his tenancy. It’s just that when he’s up close, and he’s looking at you with a soft smile on his lips and those endlessly deep big brown eyes; nothing really seems complicated at all.
“I’m sorry. I’m not trying to freak you out,” Jake shakes his head and scratches awkwardly at the back of his neck. Two little sisters and he still hasn’t figured out how to approach this conversation. “I just want you to be able to… talk to me, I guess.”
“I understand,” You nod softly, hitting send on the email and lifting your head to look at him. He tries at a smile. “Thanks, Jake.”
“Anytime, kiddo.” He shoots you a playful wink and tucks his chair into the desk, sitting upright as he starts to reason with the idea of actually finishing his paperwork so that he can head home at a reasonable time tonight.
“Alright, I’m gonna head in for the night. I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“Bright and early.” Jake confirms with a tired smile as you close your laptop and push up from the desk. You each separate with soft goodbyes, and you carry your laptop upstairs to your apartment.
Just as you’re expecting, the lights are already on and there’s a football game playing on your TV. What you’re not expecting, though, is to see Tank and Rooster’s heads pop up from over the back of the couch together.
“Hey, Bam— oof—“ Rooster grunts as the dog suddenly pushes to his feet, pressing all of his weight into his ribs and hopping down onto the ground before walking around the couch to greet you with a wagging tail.
“Hi, boys,” You smile, crouching down to kiss Tank’s nose and scratch and his shoulders, babying the sixty pound animal like he deserves to be. “Was he laying on you just then?”
“Yeah. I laid down with a beer and he wanted to join me, I guess.” Rooster informs you as you set your things down by the door and walk over to the couch, leaning on the back. He smiles up at you, one arm tucked behind his head.
You grin at him, pushing yourself over the back of the couch and down against his body, your thighs straddling his hips.
“I can’t believe you’re both finally getting along.” You tell him, leaning forwards and planting a soft kiss to his mouth. Rooster’s hand trails along your back, sipping slightly under your sweater.
“He’s not so bad,” Rooster shrugs his shoulders, lifting his head and chasing your lips as you sit up against him. You push your open palms along his bare shirt, wondering silently to yourself how he can manage to be so warm all the time. “You get all your work done?”
Your lips twist up into a smile. “Uh-huh.”
His brows draw together as he leans out and sets the beer on the coffee table so that he can grab at your hips.
“What’s so funny?”
“Signed you guys up for a couple of local charity events over the next few weeks. Think it’ll be good press for the gym.” You explain, trailing your fingertips along the lines in his toned torso.
“What kind of events?”
“I’m gonna tell everyone on Monday. Wouldn’t be fair if you got the down low before everyone else.” You could tell him, really, but you’re in a good mood and it’s fun to tease him. He chuckles softly and considers arguing, squeezing his hands around the soft flesh of your waist.
His lashes brush his cheek as he blinks, bringing you securely with him as he shifts his hips.
“Will you promise me something before your fight tomorrow?” You ask him, leaning forwards and bracing your palms against his shoulders. He smiles softly.
It’s been playing on his mind recently, when he holds you tight in his arms at night. Whether or not this life he wants, and the past you’ve faced, are compatible in the slightest.
He knows how timid you get. The way your muscles go rigid at a raised voice, and the devastating way your eyes go wide when he gets too close too quickly.
“Sure.” He tells you, rubbing his thumbs in soft circles over the waistband of your skirt.
“Try not to mess this pretty face up too much. Pretty please.” You lean down over him, slowly, and press a soft kiss to the bump in his nose from a bad break years ago. Rooster watches as you sit back up again.
Your hair is loose and strands fall forwards, adorning your face. Attempting to hide that sheepish little smile from him.
He hasn’t been called pretty ever. Jake’s pretty. Movie-star smile and blonde hair, an angled jaw and stroking green eyes. Bradley was always too tall, and too skinny, until he wasn’t skinny anymore. He’s got scars on his face, all the way down his body. His lips aren’t quite even. His eyes are dark and angry looking. He’s not pretty.
“You’re the pretty one, Bambi,” He tells her with a firm shake of his head. He wets his lips with his tongue. “You don’t need to be worrying about my busted face.”
“Busted?” You scoff at him.
“Come on…” He groans, checks flushing red as he turns his head back towards the television. He can always feel it when something gets him blushing, and he hates nothing more. He knows how dark and angry his scars look when his skin flushed red.
“Bradley,” You frown at him, placing two fingers against his cheek and turning his head back towards you. A muscle in his jaw ticks. “I think you’re really pretty.”
“Get real, kid.” He huffs, sitting up and hooking an arm around you, tucking his hand under your ass. He stands swiftly, taking you with him with an impressive ease.
“Hey! Where are we going? — I’m not done complimenting you.” You secure your legs around his waist and your arms around his shoulders, frowning as Bradley carries you forwards.
“I need to take a shower.” He tells you, pressing a soft kiss to your temple and planting your ass on the kitchen island. You wrap your legs tighter around his waist.
“… Um… By yourself?”
“Sorry, Bambi,” Rooster gives a heavy shrug of his wide shoulders, grabbing your ankles and unwrapping them from his waist, leaving you with a chaste kiss on the lips. “No sex before the big fight.”
Behind him, your mouth hangs open.
“Are you serious?”
His lips quirk softly as he pulls at the drawstring tie on his shorts, turning his head to look at you over his shoulders. “Unfortunately. It’s tried and tested. I fight better if I’m a little… frustrated.”
You just hum in response, watching him close the bathroom door behind him. As the door clicks shut, the idea drops into your mind. You get Tank his dinner, and head for the bedroom with a smile on your face.
Bradley secures the towel around his waist, stepping out of the shower with his hips decorated with fluffy white and pink pinstripe. He whistles the tune to Together in Electric Dreams as he combs his fingers through his damp curls and walks through to the bedroom he has spent more nights in than his own recently.
Then, he stops in the doorway. He glances back over his shoulder at Tank sitting on the couch, then back to you. Your brows drawn together, lips parted just slightly, your chest heaving.
“Bambi.”
Your eyes blink open, not so much as a whisper of surprise in either of your irises. Your lips twitch just slightly.
“Are you touching yourself?”
Your eyes squeeze shut again, purely because if you look at him for another second then you’re going to chicken out. “Don’t worry. I’m almost there.”
“But… I told you. I can’t — the fight.” Bradley stumbles over his words, reaching down and brushing the base of his palm over the stiffening tent under the towel. The sheets barely cover your waist, he can picture your exactly the way your legs are trembling right now.
Bradley swallows softly as you let out a contented sigh.
“You’re right. You can’t,” You tell him, trying to keep the smile off of your face as your fingers circle your clit. “Sorry. I thought I would be done before you finished your shower.”
That’s not true in the slightest. He knows you wanted him to find you, and he wishes he had a little more self-control. He’s already walking forwards, grabbing the covers and tearing them back.
You giggle as he drops his weight down on top of you, grabbing firmly at your hips and pulling you against him.
“Want some help?” He murmurs against your throat, sucking firmly at the sensitive skin there, knowing how it makes your brain just turn to mush.
“Yes, please.” You grin, reaching down between you, tugging swiftly at the towel wrapped around his hips and discarding it onto those chipped wood floors in this ancient apartment. Bradley grazes his teeth over your collarbone and shakes his head.
“No, no — I’m serious, until tomorrow, I’ve taken a vow of abstinence,” Bradley informs you calmly, rolling onto his back and grabbing roughly at your hips. “Now come here. Put this pretty face to use, huh?”
Your mouth drops open, eyes widening as he manhandles you over his chest and grabs two firm handfuls of your ass to drag you forwards.
“Rooster, wai— oh.” You hiccup, hands swinging forwards for purchase, just about catching on the squeaky metal frame of the bed. He buries his face between your legs, the freshly groomed hair on his upper lip, tickling the sensitive bundle of nerves between your legs. “Oh, wow.”
His lips twitch. The way his smirk feels against your throbbing clit is something that will be etched into your mind for years to come. He lifts his hand and swats at your ass, groaning against you as the soft flesh ripples in his hand.
As much as he enjoys this, he had to get you back at least a little for trying to tease him. All it does, surprisingly, is spur you on. You gasp out, moaning as your grip tightens around the bed frame.
His heavy hands hold you in place, keeping you firmly against him, just about giving you the freedom to move back and forth. He moans happily against your sensitive flesh as you grind yourself onto his mouth.
It doesn’t take long. Literally minutes of his deep sounds, his big hands and his oh, so talented tongue. You cum hard, practically losing your balance, soaking his chin as he holds you upright. Then, he swiftly rolls you off of him and plants you on your back.
You fight to catch your breath as Bradley pulls you back against him and wraps his arms securely around you. His erection presses into the skin of your ass, grazing briefly against some of the excitement that has spilled out onto your thighs.
“Tomorrow night, you’re all fucking mine. Got that?” He whispers, smiling against your earlobe. You press back into his chest, humming contentedly.
Tomorrow night rolls around quickly. But, you’re far from being naked, and far from being in your bed with Bradley cursing in your ear like you would like to be. Instead, you’re picking awkwardly at your cuticles and following Phoenix through a crowded warehouse. Event space. Whatever they want to call it.
It makes your skin prickle to know that Bradley could be leaving this room bloodied and bruised. You should be excited for him. You’ve seen him training. You know how badly he wants this. More importantly, you know what it will mean for his career if it goes badly.
Heel-toe, heel-toe — you focus on whatever your mind can grab at as you march through the buzzing crowd between Natasha and Jake. It’s not enough. Your heart is thudding and your stomach feels funny. You start to wonder if you’ll ever feel comfortable in a place like this.
You lift your head and examine the ring. The ropes are taut and the canvas looks much cleaner than the surface back at Bradshaw’s. You bite awkwardly at the inside of your cheek as someone catches your eye on the other side of the ring. She’s watching Natasha. Tall, and blonde, with piercing blue eyes. Staring like she has seen a ghost.
“You okay?” Phoenix taps your waist softly with her elbow, her smile fading as she studies the expression on your face. It’s not one that she has seen on you before. She can’t quite place it.
“Is that her?” You ask quietly, your voice almost getting lost in the sea of much louder conversations. Natasha turns her head and looks around the crowd, trying to figure out who it is that you’re staring at. Finally, she locks eyes on the woman on the other side of the ring.
There’s a puckered scar across the right side of her face. A burn, maybe. Natasha knows that it’s a third degree that required a skin graft. Even so, she’s beautiful. Tall, with neatly styled finger curls, and high cheekbones. Natasha knows that face well. Still, Bradley wouldn’t want you to know that.
“Is that who?” Natasha tries.
“Emilia.” You answer instantly, and her eyes widen.
Her brows draw together as she stops walking, rounding on you with a stern expression. Jake almost bumps into your back, looking confusedly between the two of you. Natasha frowns deeply, “Bradley told you about Emilia?”
“Mav did.” You answer her sheepishly.
“Oh.” Natasha closes her eyes for a minute and thanks whatever divine power kept Bradley in that locker room so that he didn’t hear this conversation. “Bambi, that’s — that wasn’t his place. He shouldn’t have done that. There’s a lot that Mav doesn’t understand.”
“What more is there to understand? — She’s a monster.”
“I’m not disagreeing with you,” Natasha couldn’t disagree with you if she wanted to. She can’t pretend she hadn’t felt pleased when the news started to spread that Emilia had been in that fire. “But Mav doesn’t know the truth. He knows what the police told him.”
“What more is there to know?” You frown at her. Jake shifts uncomfortably behind you, adjusting the top button of his shirt. Natasha grits her teeth.
“I can’t tell you.”
You turn your head to gawk at Jake, then look back to her. “Bradley wouldn’t tell me if I asked him.”
“Don’t ask him. It’s better if you don’t know.” Natasha’s voice is firmer than it has ever been with you. She’s serious, and suddenly cold. She cares for you, enough to be mean when it’ll keep you from getting hurt.
