hello, welcome back!! ok i don't know much about this but your dolls are so cute so, what kind of dolls are your ✨ original characters ✨, did you customise them to make them look like that (hair? expression??), how much would getting into the hobby cost, hypothetically (if you're comfortable sharing!) also their clothes are ADORABLE

the dolls are called nendoroid dolls!! maybe youve heard about nendoroids before, they are small super deformed figures with interchangeable parts. the company also has a line called "nendoroid dolls", which use the head of nendoroid figures with a fully articulated body. Full sets (hair, head, body, hands, clothes, standee) of licensed characters and original characters are available to purchase for uhhh id say about 8000-10000 yen I think?

Dolls stand a bit taller than nendoroids at about 11cm and have the same head, but a longer, fully articulated body and removable fabric clothes. those are my kimetsu no yaiba nendoroid and nendoroid dolls for comparison.

Then you can buy separate parts for customization. A body is sold with a few extra hands and a standee, comes in a few skintones (cream, peach, almond milk, cinnamon), and costs about 1500-2000yen. The blank head is something like 900 yen iirc.

From here you can either paint the head yourself or uses a service from the manufacturer`s website which is. basically a picrew where you make a face, pay 1500yen for a set of two, and they print it on a blank faceplate and ship it to you (only in Japan as of now I think). Thats what I did! I want to make slight repainting of my own but Ill do it when i move again and I have more space for hobby stuff ><

THEN What I did is, buy some epoxy putty (about 900 yen)

+ sanding paper, paint and matte laquer...... and sculpted the hair myself !!! :) again it was my first time doing smt like this so it was a lot of trial and error and i would like to fix my mistakes once i have more space ><

And thats it for the basics!!! Personally their clothes are a mix of stuff Ive sewn myself and things I bought (in Akihabara, Radio Kaikan theres a really nice shop with a ton of small sized doll clothes). And then you can buy extra hand parts from the manufacturer and have fun buying miniature stuff from hobby stores etc.........

So the amount of money you sink in this really depends on you I think and what you want to do..... but it does have a cost for sure. >< (but its also, really, really fun to have little guys on your shelf with swappable faces and clothes....)

Happy FMA day! Fullmetal Alchemist and my great love of it was a huge inspiration in making my YouTube channel. FMA is still the topic I have the most videos on and I’m grateful for how it inspired me. So here is a collection of all the FMA videos I made. 16" Fashion Dolls

Elfdoll Hana (BJD), Tonner Tyler, Tonner Matt, Tonner Sydney, Mme Alexander Jadde Lee

In the 1990s and 2000s there was a boom in larger-than-barbie-scale fashion dolls, and I collected a lot of 16" dolls from Robert Tonner, Alexander doll co., Ashton-Drake doll, and a couple by Integrity toys/Jason Wu. Nowadays you can pretty much only buy them on Ebay, alas. The good news is that Barbies and other 11.5" dolls have become a lot cooler and more diverse lately, although the quality of clothing available for Barbie-sized dolls still doesn't match the fashions for the larger dolls.

The Doll Morgue I store most of my 16" fashion dolls in an Ikea wine-bottle shelf thingy, and this is the result.

Ball-Jointed Dolls (BJDs)

Bobobie Demon Elf Charisma Doll

Ball-Jointed Dolls from Asian companies are my favorite dolls; they tend to be quite expensive and there are long timeframes for manufacture and delivery. These are ideal dolls if you like to do custom stuff - you can change out their eyes, wigs, they're large so they're easy to sew for, and they often come with unpainted faces so if you like doing "face ups" (as face painting for BJD's is usually termed), they're a nice canvas for this. I've had most of the ones in my collection for 15+ years, since after my son was born I switched to spending most of my money on him. They've all held up very well, though, and I still enjoy them tremendously.

God I wish I had the level of dedication to build my own Nando Nendo, or any nendo. I've seen people make their own nendos and pop figures and I just stare longingly, like, ah I wish I had even an remote interest in physical art </3 It's a shame how I've watched so many customization/repaint vids across the years and like still have absolutely no motivation to ever make my own sob sob. Doll customizers I have my nose pressed up against the window.

But please omg 005, we could collab, make our own line of little nendoroid redraws, little guys, little nandos and sebs etc 🤧🤧 YOURS IS SOOOO CUTE!!!!!! His hair is so perfect and fluffy, and it fits the style so well!! But god if I ever actually end up drawing one like you did, it's so over, that's the only thing I can draw for the rest of my life. There's so many little variants of nando and seb I'd want to draw....

The first two FF7 Nendoroids that I completed were Elena and Tseng from the Turks. When I first made Tseng, I photoshopped his dot. Later, I found spare face plates so that I could paint on the dot.

I wanna cry... They devided my pc parts order. Today they did send the second one.

One pagake has 700g and the other one 5kg. There is no way all my pc parts are in the 700g ones. A monitor doesn't weigh 5kg I can imagen.

The lighter one is the one that should arrive today. The other one will probably be here next week. Tomorrow is a holiday and we normally don't get pakages on Saturday.

Luck Really hates me.

Btw the shop that told me that on late November new Jackie figures arrive still doesn't have one. The package with the little nendoroid doll body that was going to be Jackie is lost as well.

And we don't even start talking about my Jackie I sent to England for his repaint...

My Assault Lily Dolls

@sunflowergl mentioned that she wanted to see more of my dolls, so here's my entire small collection! Excuse the not great photograph.

From left to right, they are:

Arata, my OC Lily from Kaiseizan Girls' High School. Her body and clothes are Taneda Seina's, and her head is semi-custom.

I got the basic head part from Azonet, and I painted half her hair pink (well, I wanted it to be around the same pink as Riri's hair, but it turned out closer to red) and put eye decals on her. I also repainted her Gungnir.

She doesn't have a mouth, and she's missing one hand at the moment because I needed the joint to attach Misaka's ponytail. If I ever take a fancier photo of her again I'll borrow someone else's hands.

A Custom Lily Type-G that I got for cheap. As you can see at the link she came in a generic school uniform, not the cute dress, but I'm too lazy to change her clothes.

I mainly use her body to put clothes on and then swap my other Lilies' heads onto so that I don't have to undress them. That said, her neck is longer than that of all my other dolls for some reason, so doing that can look a bit weird.

I lost both of her hand joints. Picco Neemo hands have an inconvenient tendency to come off, usually with the joint attached.

Aizawa Kazuha. The CHARM she came with is way nicer than any of the others I have (an Asterion, two Gungnirs, and a Triglav.)

Kondo Misaka, who I posted a better photo of previously. Her body and clothes are Kaede Johan Nouvel's. Her head is a 3D printed one made by Rampage.

I put her Huge Searchers away in a box, because they fall off constantly and I'm worried about losing them. I've also started assembling her CHARM but haven't finished yet.

Riri's nendoroid. It's not a doll, but look how cute she is!

Kanou!!!

I saw the steampunk nendoroid doll Inventor: Kanou, and immediately fell in love with his design. But OH BOY is he Expensive ™ . So uh...I decided to make him. I bought his clothes(they sell all nendoroid doll clothes now) ,a ymy body,a face plate,and got to work, I repainted the face, sculpted and painted the hair,hat and winged backpack!

I'm especially proud of the backpack,it has 14 magnets and is completely detachable and poseable, I put in so much effort :")

I spent a good chunk of whatever little free time I had on him,and I'm very pleased with the results! potato updato - have found a bunch of nendoll clothing patterns and decided to see what the official stuff is like. their seam allowances seem too generous as this looks baggier than it's mean to be (pattern is the one shown on pg 14/50 of the 555-nendoll clothing patterns linked here), but i'll keep it in mind for future stuff, and it was good sewing practice. i may still bust out the machine we have buried somewhere, though ^^;

i got a new phone between updates and while this wasn't the first photo i've taken, it's def the blurriest lol

i also repainted her right eye as that one dried oddly clumpy the first time around, still need to mix up more paint and touch them both up/do some better colour matching on those giant irises

Another Exalted obitsuroid! This is Prezit, an exegent that started with me wanting to play a character based on the Boris accent

She ended up cheerful and punchy (with an axe!), because she exalted when her Creation died and had lived her whole life in a dying world, and so was very fatalistic. She ended up learning how to live while punching due to her Lunar girlfriend punching along side her. <3
