Part 7 of my epic Christian x Gabby essay: Wherever you go, I will go

Oh, they’re not done.

Remember how Gabby and Christian have been paired together on every tribe and through every swap and merge? And on every group challenge? The Fates are 100% determined to keep these two together. 

The very episode after Gabby is voted off, Christian is voted off, too. The other cast members finally muster up the votes necessary to vote off the person who was widely agreed upon as the season’s biggest threat. 

Sadly, off Christian goes. To Ponderosa (the hotel where the jury is quarantined through the end of the game), where he is reunited at long last (3 days apart) with his nerd alliance bestie. 

She runs halfway across the dock to greet him. She brings him to meet the other jurors. She covers his eyes on their way to the mirror, the first time he’ll see himself after 35 days (and 15 lbs lost). Gabby is thrilled to see Christian, the person who orchestrated her exile. That much is clear. 

Is Christian thrilled to see Gabby?

so i've followed your stuff for a while now, & i have something embarrassing to admit, when i was 14 and scrolling through the g/t tag on ao3 (it was some years ago) i found your jacob & edix fic, and i was so upset after reading it that to calm myself down i had to imagine an entire scenario where a vengeful giant brutally killed edix to save jacob. i'm so sorry your writing is lovely but i hate edix so much. that mofo needs to die. jacob get behind me

if you also want to hear a secret a big reason i wrote the milo and ben story despite not really liking the borrower trope that much was because i also read a fic on ao3 about an exterminator doing something too fucked up for my liking to a borrower colony so i wrote a (somewhat) fluffy.......ish story to make me feel better and then abandoned it halfway for like a year until i needed a bday gift fic for my bestie lmao

Part 6 of my epic Christian x Gabby essay: Christian Knows

Ohhh that side eye. It’s the side-eye to end all side-eyes. 

Gabby is plotting to vote Christian off. She’s positive that she has all her votes lined up. She’s positive that he has no idea that this epic blindside is coming for him. 

And then he looks at her.

Just looks at her. And you can see the panic enter Gabby’s eyes. Watch her double-take. Christian stares at her. Studies her. Tries to read whether his island bestie, his fellow nerd, who he fully intended to take to the end, has really turned on him, as their tribemate secretly warned him earlier.

As Christian puts it right before tribal: “I'm floored. According to Davie, Gabby is gunning for me. She feels like she doesn't have a chance to win unless she makes a move and takes me out. I'm stunned. Gabby and I have been together this entire game. We haven't been separated for more than an hour over the course of the whole month. So I’m having hard time believing it.”

He almost doesn’t believe it. But then he studies her -- and he reads it in her face. Gabby has turned against him. 

So he pulls out his immunity idol, and plays it. 

Gabby’s plan is foiled. “How did you get that big brain?” she asks him as he sits back down, having played his idol and saved himself. She’d been so sure he had no inkling of what was coming. And yet -- he outwits her.

And then Jeff reads the votes. None of the votes against Christian count, of course. The next person in line to be voted off, so everyone thinks, is Allison, the fierce Goliath lady doctor with a heart of gold. Everyone loves her, so everyone thinks she’s a threat. Gabby is sure that if her plan against Christian fails, Allison will be the fallback. 

She even apologizes to Allison as the first valid vote is read. 

Then Jeff reads the next vote. 

“Gabby.”

And now she sees it. Christian didn’t just figure out her plan and foil it -- he turned it against her. 

Jeff reveals the final vote. 

“13th person voted out and the sixth member of our jury: Gabby.”

She’s done. Out of the game. Her big move against her bestie failed, and Christian, who is so fucking ridiculously good at this game, out-maneuvers her. 

As she’s leaving, her time in the game ended, Gabby doesn’t cry. She doesn’t voice any recriminations against anyone. She doesn’t pout or stomp her feet as some people do when voted off. 

No, as she is voted out of the tribe, she has just one thing to say:

“Sorry, Christian! I love you!”

Are there meta posts out there regarding the locations of signigicant places in Word of Honor? Okay but what if the Cybertronian versions of earth pride flags are literally the same thing but with maybe a few too many or too little stripes, and with the colors slightly off, because they're used to seeing them on some bumper sticker far away or from a human buddy showing them on a phone?

Like oh yeah i love the idea of Cybertronians using labels completely unknown to humans, sure, but i also fucking love the idea of mecha adopting earth terms. Someone brings some pride flags to base, "oh what does this one mean?" "Oh it means little to no romantic attraction!" "... can i have this flag?"

Just fucking... among all the stuff in their quarters, in this hard damn war of theirs, just a little damn victory of finding something that describes your experience and bonding with the humans over it.

Or, on the flip side, sharing Cybertronian terms for this stuff. I really just cannot get over the concept of alien genders and alien sexualities that just work Entirely Different than the human ones.
