Kaz played with a slender magnetic bar between his index and middle fingers. The end turned around and around, clockwise, and picking up the right amount of speed. The drummer’s illusion of what was ‘twirling’ a drumstick.  He paused near the back. Eyes on the wooden shelving as the ‘stick’ tapped out a beat there. 

Nesh came through the opposite door. He nodded to acknowledge. “Checking up on me?” Inventory was logged in and out. Still, occasionally a nosy farmhand popped a head in to ensure no one ran off with more. Not that Kaz had been questioned before (as he sometimes was the nosy farmhand), he was only teasing.

An ugly memory on the floor beside him caught his eye. The spot Antana chose to drag a blinded Kaz during the farm raid. To beat him, break some of his fingers, steal his machete... A large yet faded smudge of red-brown still there as a reminder. Guess he should do something about it. 

He turned back to search for what he needed, a bit more thoughtful in the process. “What’re you looking for today.”

the doctor’s hut, hottest part of the day, @neshionals

“Doctor Nanku!” Lily called, staggering into the Doctor’s hut. The poor woman—Lily only knew her as one of the people who lived near the train, someone who came down every so often to the farm to get rations—had passed out, but Lily didn’t know how long she’d been unconscious. Only that she had found this woman passed out in shade, overheated and soaked through with sweat. Reminiscent of how she’d felt during the draught.

Lily took a break and lifted with her knees, half-dragging the woman up the stairs and into the hut. Dr. Nanku was in, luckily, and Lily wavered, just a little, upon seeing him. They haven’t had a proper conversation, really; he’d helped Dr. Iyaz examining the drought victims and the tree-people, her included, and she’d heard he had helped with Jordano’s amputation.

The woman’s sweat-slippery arm slid out of Lily’s hand and she slumped to the floor. Lily immediately went down after her, hauling her up by the armpits and looking back to the doctor. “What do you need me to do?” she asked Dr. Nanku.

Into the theatre pt 2

David gave me a tour of the space, what gets stored where, what’s supposed to get stored where, but blatantly doesn’t, either because we didn’t have the space/budget or because it was inconvenient and annoying so no one actually did it. He told me which tools and machines I would need to be taught to use by Ms. Tischler and which I could just use or ask another student. He also gave me a bunch of nicknames I secretly thought might be way more important to remember correctly than he was letting on. It was at about this point that Nesh walked into the shop, which was really just an extended backstage with a few ramps and closets, though there was an industrial double door that opened directly to outside, so that was cool.

“He tell you how to not fuck up my shop?” Nesh asked, by way of greeting.

I knew better than to call her on claiming ownership of the shop as a sophomore, so instead I tried, “Got anything to add?”

“Rose, outside this room, you’re awesome and one of my closest friends. Inside this room you’re a noob. Ask before you do anything until you get into the swing of things. Don’t swing your dick around trying to impress people into respecting you. We’ll respect you for being thorough and careful. Anyone who doesn’t is an asshole who’s gonna lose fingers before they graduate.”

I couldn’t help myself. I took a tentative step forward, lowering my head into my shoulders, elbows at my torso and hands out, then I sprang onto Nesh and gave her a big bear hug. “I love it when scary Nesh comes to visit! And I’m so excited to see you in your element!”

Nesh relented and gave me a big bearhug back. We’d kind of landed in a “still technically hugging but also casually chatting with David and each other, and then eventually Tzvi and Rivka, until Ms. Tischler came into the shop and effortlessly commanded our attention.

When Nesh gently extracted herself from me to resume a more rooted stance, I felt a tension creep into my body. Instinctively, I turned my head both ways in search for the actors. Then I realized it was Yoni I was looking out for. Annoyed with myself, I refocused on what Ms. Tischler was saying.

As floor lead (crew lead??), Nesh assigned David to me to show me how folks were divvying up tasks and who was working on what. Before we approached the first work station, crewed by this guy NPC that I tangentially knew, David leaned toward me and muttered, “Just so you know, we don’t normally work with actors until later in the season.” How did he know?

Bu iddialarına dəlil kimi göstərməyə çalışdıqları ayənin izahı isə belədir: “hər hansı bir ayənin hökmünü qüvvədən qaldırır” ifadəsində keçən “ayə” sözü təkdədir. Ayə sözünün dəlil, möcüzə kimi mənaları da var, lakin Quranda ayələri xarakterizə edən “ayə” kəlməsi heç vaxt təkdə işlənmir. Təkdə olan ayə sözü həmişə “dəlil” mənasındadır və digər bütün ayələrdə də belə tərcümə edilmişdir. Beləliklə, burada ifadə edilən məna; “Quran ayələri” deyil, daha əvvəl gəlmiş “dəlillər, qanunlar və şəriətlərdir”. Xurafatçıların qüvvədən salındığını iddia etdikləri hökmlər unudulmamışdır, hələ də Quranda mövcuddur. Buradan da açıq şəkildə aydın olur ki, burada bir ayənin hökmünün digər bir ayənin hökmünü qüvvədən salmasından deyil, keçmiş qövmlərə göndərilib, müəyyən müddətdən sonra da unudulmuş hökmlərin qüvvədən salınmasından söhbət gedir.
