A/N: Happy Cassian Appreciation Week! It has been so long since I’ve posted anything and this fic sort of came to me unexpectedly. I really miss Nessian and I super, super miss the concept of them in Illyria with Nesta going with Cassian after ACOFAS. I guess this is an AU to ACOSF, and it’s a little angsty, a little smutty, and a lot of Nessian, which of course I love and live for.
Thank you @cassianappreciationweek for putting this amazing week together. I’m so excited!!!
                                                            ~*~
Nesta was curled up on the couch, a cup of tea steaming besides her and a thick novel held in her hands which she promptly laid down once she saw him.
She didn’t say hello, or ask how he was, not that he expected her to. And apart from a quick nod of acknowledgement on her part and a grunt from him, that was it for them.
Cassian was tired. Bone-deep tired and he worried he may not have the energy to speak for the rest of the week, let alone do anything else. The rain he’d been caught in on the way home hadn’t helped his mood either. And definitely not as he’d trudged upstairs and peeled off the sodden clothes and leather that stuck to him like glue.
But a quick, heated bath restored some of his energy and he made his way back down to Nesta, still on the couch, and still reading as he towel-dried his hair.
“Good book?”
A hum. Yes.
“Did you eat?”
Another hum. Lower. It could be yes or no, he’d learned.
“Come eat with me.”
A click of her tongue. He was interrupting her reading and it was his cue to stop bothering her. So he did.
He made his way to their small kitchen, following the smell of freshly warmed up food. He opened up the pots on the stove, taking in the rice, lentils and chicken. The smell was heavenly and after surviving on stale bread and hard cheese for the past week, he was relieved to eat a hot meal that required a plate and cooking.
Nesta didn’t move away when he joined her on the empty side of the couch, nor did she prompt him to eat somewhere else. Not that there was anywhere else to go eat. It was either down here with her, or upstairs shut away in his bedroom.
He opted for company, however silent it may be.
“It’s good.” He said after getting a second serving for himself.
“Emerie’s recipe.” She flipped the page, eyes never once wavering from scanning the lines in front of her.
He finished the remainder of the meal quietly, peeking glances to the female across him, not even two feet away, every so often. She’d opted for a loose knot at the back of her head, as opposed to the tight coronet braid it was usually in. And the nightgown she had on covered her from shoulders to toes.
Last he’d seen her, the week before, she’d looked much different. Her hair had been loose, falling down her back in silky ripples. He’d wrapped his hand around the length of it once, twice, until he’d had enough to tug her head gently backwards and meet him for a kiss. His hips had snapped into her own, pounding deeper and deeper and she’d pulled away with a moan, burying her head into the pillows as he tightened his grip on her hips. The thin scrap of lace that she’d come to him wearing, a barely there nightgown, was sitting discarded besides him on the floor besides the couch. He had been too close and he would have pushed her over the edge soon enough had there not been a sharp rap on the door a few feet from them.
Nesta had quieted immediately while Cassian had stopped altogether. The knock had come again a few moments later and Cassian had flipped her over onto her back while yelling out at whoever was at the door.
A message had come from a northern kingdom in the mountains that he was needed for some sort of emergency. Cassian had discussed the details for a few minutes more while continuing to fuck Nesta slowly, covering just her mouth as she came hard around him, back arched and eyes rolling back in her head.
It wasn’t until the messenger told him goodbye and that he’d be waiting at the training barracks for him that Cassian had properly extricated himself from Nesta, and propped himself into a sitting position on the couch.
Nesta was still catching her breath besides him and the swift peek he’d gotten between her slightly spread legs, of her swollen sex, had almost tempted him to taste her one last time before he had to be off. Almost, because before he could do anything, Nesta had reached down and dressed herself in that damned gown again.
Before he could rise as well, and cool down to get rid of his hardness, Nesta had gotten on her knees between his open legs, sucking him down her throat. It hadn’t taken him very long to explode in her mouth, his hands holding her hair back while he fucked it with a frenzy. She’d taken every thrust, and swallowed his release while continuing to work her mouth around him.
Her eyes had looked up at him wickedly as her tongue had chased him from the side of pleasure to overstimulation and he had twitched against her hold.
They hadn’t shared a goodbye but Nesta had kissed him swiftly, brutally, with the taste of himself still on her tongue before walking away.
“What?,” she snapped, pulling him from his lewd thoughts.
“Nothing,” he said, scraping his dish clean. He picked up the bag he’d brought with him and made his way to the kitchen to clean up.
It was only after he’d washed his dishes and placed the leftover food in the icebox did he call out to Nesta to join him. She hadn’t moved right away but after a few breaths he’d heard a shuffle, the closing of a book and she’d soon appeared in the kitchen doorway.
“What?” Clipped. And a hint of annoyance if he’d read the rest of her posture correctly.
“Aren’t you charming? Is the book getting good? Did I interrupt an upcoming smut scene?”
He opened the white box’s packaging and Nesta took a seat opposite him from the center island.
“It already happened. They were going at it again.”
“How refreshing,” he chuckled with a wink. Nesta rolled her eyes.
“So I know how you are about your chocolate cake, but you have to try this one. I picked it up from a bakery up north and trust me, you’ve never had anything like it before.” He placed a generous slide onto the cake plate and pushed it towards her, handing her the fork she always favored.
Nesta didn’t eat it. She only surveyed the white cream and strawberry jam in between the large cake layers with barely concealed disdain. Strange. To his knowledge, she liked strawberries fine enough. And cake was always a welcome dessert for her.
“Where is it from?”
“Erm, Miyola. It’s a small town between these two hills in the northern Steppes. I know the baker there. I haven't had a chance to go in a while but I was nearby for the work I was doing with that Illyrian king, so I decided to drop by on the way home.”
She picked up her fork, spearing the center of the cake, but still not eating it.
“This baker is your…friend.”
She stated it but Cassian heard the question in her voice.
“Yes,” he answered, confused. A sort of friend that he’d known for a couple decades. Nothing like Azriel or Rhys, which were more family than friends at this point. But still, a good friend who made great pastries. And always gave him some extra for free when he left.
Nesta’s eyes narrowed. “Just friends? It’s a very nice cake.”
“Yes,” he answered again, irritation beginning to spike in him. Gods but he was tired.
Nesta reached down to her lap before procuring a small piece of paper, all but throwing it at him.
“It fell from your bag when you came home.”
Cassian read it in silence, quickly realizing what Nesta was probably thinking.
“It’s not…”
“She doesn’t seem to be very set on being just friends, don’t you think?”
Nesta’s glare was murderous.
Layla, the baker he’d met a century ago had been a fun, heated tryst that had quickly fizzled out. Or so he’d thought. And when he had dropped by this past week, his thoughts of their past nights had been a fleeting memory. Perhaps he should have explained the cake was for Nesta, his…
Well she wasn't really his anything. Not between them or amongst the rest of the world. She’d made that much clear the first time they’d slept together. A very formidable  line had been drawn, by her, making it known to him that it was just sex. Just for fun. And only while she was staying with him in Illyria. That it had nothing to do with romance, or care, or anything outside of base lust and desire. Which he could understand if it was any other female besides Nesta. If it had been any other female, he would have gladly accepted the agreement, and while he still had, a large part of him had felt empty at the thought. That it was all they would ever be. So for her to question this situation, question them when there really wasn’t a them - well it clawed at some already fraying part of him.
“Is that a problem?” He couldn’t help the snap in his words, the teeth he had to keep himself from baring.
If she wanted to play games, he could too. Nesta didn’t expect that and her spine stiffened, practically begging her to fight back. Bite back even. But he knew she wouldn’t answer truthfully. Because to do so would mean admitting that this thing between them was something real, something more than what she was lying to herself about. And the best thing she always did was run from the truth.
“Of course not. Why should I have a problem who you invite to your bed? I was just curious since you said- no, you lied, about who she was.”
“I didn’t-,” Cassian caught himself, taking in a ragged breath. So that’s what they would do tonight. Fight. He was in no mood for it.
“She’s a friend. I didn’t lie about it. And even if she wasn't, why do you care?”
Her spine went ramrod straight and she took in a quick breath, eyes blazing with simmering fury.
“I don’t,” came her strained reply.
Sure.
“So eat the cake.”
She waved her hand, ignoring him. “I don’t care. I don’t control you. I’m not stopping you from whatever you want with her. If you’d like to even bring her here and fuck her, why should I care?” Nesta got up, getting shriller and shriller with each passing word. “I don’t care one bit Cassian. Don’t stop on my account. While you’re at it, why not become reacquainted with all of your old friends? Females just seem to throw themselves at you left and right, don’t they?”
“They do, actually,” Cassian retorted. “I didn’t think you’d give a shit though. You don't about anything else.”
Nesta seemed to startle at his sudden outburst, but she quickly recovered.
“Well how great that’ll be then. You can go to one of them now and stop panting after me.”
“I wasn’t aware you were so miserable,” he deadpanned.
She smirked, crooning. “Males’ egos are truly a thing of wonder. You aren’t doing anything for me that I can’t do for myself with my own hand.”
Cassian laughed darkly. “Let’s not get into all the things I do to you. With my hands or otherwise.”
A faint blush stained her cheeks at that but she didn’t back down. She opened her mouth, readying for her next attack, but Cassian interrupted it.
He tried softer this time. “Don’t be cruel, it doesn't suit you.”
“Doesn’t it?,” she snapped.
Cassian shrugged then. “Jealousy definitely doesn’t. You would know if there were any other females around me in that way. You’d smell it on me.”
She shook her head. “I’m not jealous. I already told you, I don’t-.”
“Yes I got it the first time. You don’t care. Are you done now?”
“I don’t know what you mean.”
Cassian had to laugh at that. “Are you done, Nesta? Have you had enough?”
Eyes narrowed in contempt, arms crossed over her chest in lovely defiance, she was the most beautiful creature he’d ever laid eyes on.
Cassian took a bite of the cake. “You’re persistent, I’ll give you that. And you don’t quit. I’d admire it if I wasn’t so tired. And I’d encourage it if I wasn’t already in a piss poor mood. Gods know I don’t need any excitement for a while.”
She blinked, unmoving, but quiet. So he continued, finishing up his dessert.
“But we do this, don’t we? You pick a fight with something that isn’t really an issue. I say something, you say something worse, I say something back, you get upset. You cry and then I’m the asshole that has to apologize for something you started. Or did I miss something?”
She knew he was right, but Nesta wouldn’t say it. Nesta wouldn’t say a lot of things. So instead he reached across the table, and pushed her plate further towards her.
“Eat the damn cake, Nesta. I brought it for you.”
She did. With just enough contempt that she might have scratched the plate with her fork from her first bite. But she did it. And eventually she had a second slice too, Cassian noted with a small feeling of victory.
“What’s her name?”
Gods save him, not this again.
“Nesta, I don’t-.”
She held up a hand, almost placating him. “I’m not trying to start a fight. I just wanted to know her name.”
Cassian hesitated for a moment. “Layla.”
“Pretty,” she noted quietly, moving the fork around her empty plate.
“Yes,” he murmured, cleaning up, and trying his best not to stare too much at Nesta, in case she spooked and ran from him again.
“Is she? Pretty, I mean.” Nesta’s voice was soft and too fragile for his liking. She wouldn’t look at him as she asked.
“Yes,” he admitted slowly. And she was. He couldn’t deny it. And even if he lied, Nesta would know. She always knew when he lied.
Nesta left then.
He argued with himself the entire way up the stairs and to her door. To talk to her, soothe her worries, and reassure her that there was no one else for him. But to do that would mean acknowledging that there was something here of enough substance where another female might present a problem.
Nesta would never accept that.
Still he knocked, and even though she didn’t and wouldn’t respond, he let himself in.
“New book?”
She didn’t look up once, sprawled out on her stomach, with her feet to the head of the bed.
“Old book. Rereading it.”
At least she spoke to him. He supposed they were no longer in that rough place anymore where he would have to worry about her stoic silence. She rarely iced him out since staying with him. Rarely felt the need to resort to it, even with some of their worst fights. This, he could work with.
He sat down beside her, trying his best, and failing, to keep the peace.
“You’re beautiful,” he finally said after a pregnant pause.
She clicked her tongue. “Is that why you’re here? I don’t need that from you. I’ve been told I had a face fit to marry a king since I was eight. This isn’t news for me.”
Of course it wasn’t. People had to be blind to not know that Nesta was stunning. Becoming Fae had only heightened it to being otherwordly.
“Well, then you should know that just because Layla-.” She clicked her tongue, shutting him up. She didn’t want to talk about this. But he couldn't leave it so cold and open. Especially not when he knew exactly what sorts of thoughts were probably racing in her head.
“Nesta,” he murmured, hoping she’d at least look at him before he threw his heart out in front of her, yet again. She had a habit of stomping the life out of it, but he prayed one last time, that maybe she wouldn’t.
She closed her book then, turning onto her back to look up at him. Her hair fanned out behind her and Cassian couldn’t resist carding through the tresses softly, gently, with so much hesitation it was a wonder he didn’t tremble too.
There was something about Nesta that terrified Cassian. Not the stone cold facade or the cutting words. He could take a hit or two to his ego, and with Nesta, it was more entertaining for him than anything else. But he had faced foes on battlefields for centuries, had killed and maimed without much thought, and never once had he encountered someone like her.
The brute strength and the efficiently cutting violence that he could easily execute with had always helped him as a soldier. As a general. And then as commander. Never had it been a weakness to deter from until he’d met Nesta.
Then, suddenly, all his largeness, all his brash, booming loudness had become dangerous. To her. For her. Gods knew she had the temper and fire inside to match his own, and to meet every shredding, stupid thing he said to her with her own poison. But it wasn’t the same and he knew it.
The fragility that she hid behind a beautiful, almost impenetrable mask scared him. As if he may one day, accidentally, shatter her irreversibly, if he wasn’t careful. So he tried again this time, trying and willing the words to form in the gentlest way possible to deal with this storm of a woman laid out in front of him.
“I don’t know what you want from me. I can’t guard you from reality even though I’d like to. There will always be another Layla if you go looking hard enough. And knowing you, you tend to go looking for heartbreak just so you can swing first.”
Cassian didn’t miss the fact that her storm-grey eyes began to fill with tears, but he had to commend her grit in not letting them fall.
“Is it not enough if I tell you there is no one else? Not now, not for a very long time, and not anytime in the future as long as you wish it.”
She laughed, but it was a hollow, broken sound. “I never asked for your loyalty.”
“You have it anyhow.”
A stray tear leaked out and Cassian’s hand flexed automatically to reach over and wipe it away. He held himself back only for a moment, judging whether or not it would shatter this delicate moment. Another tear leaked out and Cassian gently wiped it off then. Nesta nuzzled against his hand and it took everything in him to not pull her towards him.
“I never asked anything of you,” she whispered into the heart of his palm.
“I know.”
“So why do you keep giving?”
Cassian smoothed her hair, stroking her cheek. “Because I can. Because I want to. I guess you’ll just have to deal with it.”
She froze as he leaned down over her, before softening against him.
“I suppose so,” she whispered against his lips.
Cassian kissed her gently, even though his soul had been wholly consumed by her. Perhaps it would never be enough time in this world for him to show her how much she mattered to him, how much he cared. But for now, this would do.

Do That to Her
Tumblr media
A Nessian fanfic:
Nesta, sits quietly with a book in her hands and a fluffy throw on her lap. The fire in the fireplace is crackling but it doesn't bother her anymore. It's December 1. The snow is swirling behind the windows.
Cassian sits across from her, looking at military plans, while sneaking glances at his gorgeous woman. Azriel is here too, outlining something on the map. They are supposed to be 'strategising'.
"if you are not going to concentrate," Azriel snaps at Cassian through gritted teeth, "I am going home!"
"I am concentrating! I am concentrating!" Cassian protests feebly.
He understands. Azriel is a newlywed. He wants to be with his woman just as much as Cassian wants to be with Nesta. Cassian understands, but he can't help himself.
Being a professional though, he forces his attention to return to the papers and reports in front of him.
"I think if we position the battalion here," Azriel raps his knuckle on the map, "it would give us a good vantage point...."
Somehow, the shadowsinger's dark, gritty voice washes over Cassian, and he loses himself in all sorts of erotic fantasies.
Suddenly, Azriel's scarred fingers snap quietly, which leads to Cassian's attention snapping back at his brother. Azriel was going to have his hide.
Ehhh. Worth it.
"Watch. Her."
It's an order. From Azriel. Cassian cocks a confused brow at him and glances at Nesta. He isn't going to question the command. Yes, sir. If he is ordered to look at Nesta, he was going to look at Nesta.
Azriel's voice is barely audible, but Cassian knows how to listen and how to understand his brother even with minimal conversation.
"Watch her," Azriel repeats. "See how quiet she's gone?"
Indeed, Nesta seemed to still in the cushions of the sofa. Her back is ramrod straight, as she peers into the book. A small smile plays on her lips.
"Yeah, what of it?" Cassian wonders.
"Watch and learn, my innocent brother," Azriel squeezes his shoulder, smirking. "When she goes all silent like that, quieter than a Library's mouse, eyes wide...That's when you find out what page she is on,"
"Oh...And?" Cassian's brow creases.
"You go back to that page. You read it. Carefully," Azriel instructs, his midnight voice hypnotising in its velvety softness.
"And?" Cassian insisted.
"And you do that to her."
"Oh."
"Oh."
4 hours later...
Cassian climbs into his large, roomy bathtub. The water is so hot, it is steaming above the surface of the tub. Just like he likes it.
His hair is tied in pigtails on the sides of his head--not a look that he would necessarily show off to anyone. He reaches for a glass of wine and takes a generous sip. Very nice.
He adds a dab of Nesta's soaps and foamy bubbles into the water, and sinks in deeper into the tub.
Glancing around sneakily, he then picks up a book. The book. And thanks Azriel's crafty shadows, because one managed to float around and report back to the master--page 237.
So, on to page 237 Cassian thumbed the pages.
"My breasts tightened as he positioned himself at the apex of my thighs. My core. The very centre of me needed his considerable length inside. I craved his seed."
Whoa.
"And then, he slammed home in one powerful thrust. He was enormous. I wasn't sure he would fit, but his massive manhood felt like velvet wrapped steel inside of me, especially once he sheathed to the hilt.
My toes curled and I saw stars as he filled me to the brim. As he touched my bundle of nerves with his calloused, scar-flecked fingers, it was my undoing. I shattered. He roared as he climaxed, destroying buildings and shaking mountains, while setting palm trees on fire on a faraway beach."
Do. That. To. Her.
And Cassian did.

Nesta sighed in relief as she ducked inside Last Rites, a warm tingle washing over her skin the moment she crossed over the bar’s threshold and into its protective wards. It had been a long, long day reviewing manuscripts, and she was more than ready to spend some time blowing off steam with her friends. She easily spotted the two of them sitting with a space left between them at the bar, and she darted through the crowd so she could slump into the empty barstool with a groan.
“Rough day?” Emerie asked from next to her, playing with one of her protection amulets aimlessly.
“Rough week,” Nesta commiserated. She caught the bartender’s attention and ordered a round of drinks for the three of them before turning back to her friend. “Gods, I’m exhausted.”
“Tell me about it,” Gwyn joined in on her left.
“You know I can whip up an elixir for you,” Emerie offered. Her friend was quite the accomplished witch, so much that she taught advanced potions courses at one of the fancy private schools for young spellcasters to hone their abilities. “For both of you. It’s really no problem.”
“I’ll be fine, really,” Nesta replied, offering a tired smile. “Just… hungry.”
Nesta didn’t always like talking about what it was like to be a succubus, but she was certainly thankful she had friends who could understand her predicament. She’d been able to survive on human food until she reached adulthood, and suddenly she’d been forced to learn how to feed on a different kind of sustenance so survive. Things had been easy in college – the sheer amount of sexual energy radiating out of University of Prythian’s Velaris campus had been overwhelming – but she was more than several years out of school, so she’d had to refine her arsenal. Emerie had been a godsend with her ability to whip up elixirs and potions to satisfy Nesta’s hunger, but nothing compared to the rush of taking energy right from the source.
Gwyn patted her hand sympathetically. “I feel you, Nesta. I’ve been getting a little peckish, too, so if you want to go out this weekend…”
Gwyn was a lightsinger, another kind of supernatural creature that fed on life energy. She didn’t need sex to survive, and she didn’t need to feed nearly as often as Nesta did, but it was nice having another person around who understood what Nesta was going through.
“That would be great,” Nesta replied, turning her hand up so she could squeeze Gwyn’s freckled one in thanks. “I’ll text you.”
“We could go to the Vampire Cafe,” Emerie suggested. She smiled in thanks at the bartender as their drinks were delivered a took a sip of her cocktail before continuing. “It’s not like regular mortals can tell much of a difference between us all, anyway.”
Mortals and the supernatural lived alongside each other, many choosing to mingle and spend more time with one another than was strictly necessary. There were all kinds of laws in place about feeding from people unconsensually, but there had long been bars and clubs designed with exceptions to the rules in mind. Mortals came to these kinds of places with the full expectation of hoping to be fed on, and many supernatural creatures were more than happy to take them up on that offer. Mortals got to experience all kinds of crazy highs and benefits depending on what creature they let take a bite, and as long as nobody was permanently hurt, it was all above-board.
As a witch, Emerie bordered the thin line between mortal and supernatural – she was born mortal, but with all that magic in her blood she wouldn’t make a particularly tasty snack. Spellcasters were unique compared to a lot of the other supernatural creatures Nesta had met, and she was certainly thankful to have Emerie in her corner when she knew how powerful her friend was just on her own  – with her coven, Emerie was practically unstoppable.
“Are you making plans without me, my love?” Nesta turned to see Cresseida had slid onto the barstool next to Emerie, looking rather unimpressed.
“Never,” Emerie replied, reaching for her girlfriend’s hand and pressing a kiss to the back of it. “You know I would’ve sent you a message, princess.”
Cresseida and Emerie had been together for a few months now, but Cresseida could be hard to get a hold of at the best of times considering she was a mermaid. She spent most of her time in the water, but she and some of her more powerful family members had retained the ability to shift into a human form when they walked on land.
Nesta turned to Gwyn to give the couple their privacy, the two of them striking up their own conversation while Emerie and Cresseida continued to flirt. It didn’t take long for them to disappear in the direction of the bathroom, but she and Gwyn were used to this sort of thing, so they knew Emerie would be back to actually catch up once Cresseida was finished having her way.
If anything, Nesta more than understood. She’d had quite the thing for mermaids when she was younger, and even more so in sirens, but she’d had one too many toxic relationships with them to really be interested anymore.
Nesta let her eyes wander over the crowd as Gwyn looked through the menu, trying to decide what to order for the next round. There were all kinds of supernatural creatures inside, from harpies to shapeshifters to your more traditional vampires and werewolves, but her attention snagged on a group of men standing on the other end of the bar from where she and Gwyn sat.
One of the hottest men she’d ever seen was leaning against the counter as he talked to two friends, and she wasn’t exaggerating about his description – not only was he ridiculously attractive, especially in that leather jacket, but even she could see the literal flames dancing in eyes as he played with a tiny ball of flame across his palm. His friends didn’t seem bothered by it, but she doubted they would be friends if they were. They were all similar in appearance, with golden brown skin, dark hair, and whorls of black tattoos peeking out from under their collars, but the similarities stopped there.
The one who’d caught her attention looked the strongest out of the three of them, but she knew better than to let appearances deceive her. He had muscles almost the size of her head, but even the biggest men would drop like a rock if she took too much from them at once.
Still, she wouldn’t mind the opportunity to get a taste. He was a far cry from her usual type, but she couldn’t deny how gorgeous he was, especially when he laughed. His amusement took over his whole body, and even though the bar was too loud to hear what his laugh sounded like, she found herself wanting to know. It wasn’t the only thing she was wondering – she wanted to know what his dark curls would feel like under her fingers, or if those large hands had callouses that would feel incredible on her skin – but it was certainly on the list.
Nesta realized far too late he was looking at her, and she couldn’t jerk her gaze away fast enough to hide her blush at being caught out. She could feel his gaze lingering on her, and she hoped to anyone listening that she wouldn’t be forced to make a fool out of herself. She wasn’t exactly the best at socializing, and there was always the lingering fear that the other person would lose interest once they found out what she was.
“Hey,” Nesta heard from behind her. She turned in her seat to reveal the guy she’d been staring at standing near her, along with one of his friends he’d been talking to across the bar. His friend looked to be the strong and silent type, but he was practically leaking shadows in a way that screamed shadowsinger even to the untrained eye. “Is this seat taken?”
Shit, she thought, panicking somewhat at the realization she’d need to say something.
“Our friend went to the bathroom, but she’ll be a while,” Gwyn swooped in, already eyeing up Hot Guy’s friend with a gleam in her eyes. “So we won’t say no to some new friends until she comes back.”
“Don’t mind if we do, then,” Hot Guy replied with a grin. He slid into Emerie’s former seat while his friend shot him a slightly-panicked look on his way to sit down next to Gwyn. At least someone understood how she felt. “Do you have a name? I can’t just keep calling you Pretty Stalker.”
Nesta snorted despite herself. “I’m Nesta.”
“Nesta,” he repeated, nodding to himself. This close up she could feel the heat radiating off him even though he’d long stopped playing with fire. “I’m Cassian, and my friend over there is Azriel. It’s nice to meet you.”
“You too,” she replied. She took a sip of her cocktail just for something to do, and started talking about the first topic that sprung into her mind. “What was with the fire earlier?”
“So I guess Pretty Stalker wasn’t too far off of a nickname, then?” he teased, his eyes lighting up at the return of her blush. “I’m a hellhound. Fire’s part of my whole deal.”
Nesta didn’t know much about hellhounds other than they were supposed to help guard Hell slash the Underworld, but it was still just as impressive watching him play with the tiny flame across his fingers again. This close, she could confirm her suspicions about his calloused hands, and it was all she could do not to grab one and press it against her skin.
“I’m a succubus,” she eventually offered up once he was done showing off. She hoped he wouldn’t be weird about it – not everyone was comfortable with her lifestyle, but she wanted him to be different. She was having fun talking to a stranger, for once in her life, and she wanted to pull a laugh out of him for herself. “No fancy tricks like you, I’m afraid.”
“Oh, I don’t know about that,” Cassian responded with a smirk, leaning closer to her so he could lower his voice. “I’ve heard pretty differently.”
“Because mortal men are so forthcoming,” she drawled. She finished her cocktail and set the empty glass gently on the counter, silently impressed as he immediately flagged down the bartender to order them both another round of drinks. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” He made an impressed face once he tasted it. “But that’s your problem right there.”
“ Do explain my own state of existence to me, Cassian,” Nesta said with a roll of her eyes. Typical. “It’s really endearing.”
“I’m not trying to be an asshole, I promise,” Cassian said back, laughing. “It’s just – I’ve heard mortals aren’t really that filling for you. You’ve never wanted to try something else?”
“Why, are you offering?” she asked dryly.
“Maybe,” he told her with a grin. He made an obvious show of checking her out, his eyes roaming hungrily over the hint of cleavage showing from her work blouse and the way her fitted slacks hugged the curves of her hips. “Actually – yes. Yes I am.”
Nesta wouldn’t pretend she hadn’t thought about trying another kind of food – another flavor – but other supernatural creatures were understandably squeamish about it in a way that mortal men usually weren’t. She’d never fed on someone that wasn’t mortal before, but then again, it wasn’t as though she’d had the opportunity to do so until now.
Especially not on someone as mouthwatering as Cassian.
“Hmm,” Nesta said eventually, pretending to still be thinking about it.
“Hmm,” Cassian repeated. He was still grinning as he leaned closer to speak directly into her ear. “You wanna get out of here?”
Ten minutes later, Nesta found herself saying a hasty goodbye to Gwyn and firing off an apologetic text to Emerie. Gwyn had just given her a knowing glance before turning back to her conversation with Azriel, and Emerie still hadn’t returned from wherever she’d slithered off to with Cresseida, so as long as she stayed safe, Nesta knew her friends wouldn’t be too choked up about her cutting girls’ night short.
“So, Nesta,” Cassian began as they exited the bar. His apartment was close enough to walk, so they’d decided to brave the cool October air instead of dealing with a cab. “Nes.”
“That’s a stupid nickname,” Nesta retorted.
“Sweetheart,” he suggested instead with an annoying grin. She just rolled her eyes and decided she could argue about the choice of nickname later. “Tell me about yourself.”
“What is this, a job interview?” she asked.
“Yeah, I’m trying to find someone who can keep up with me,” he joked. “Preferably a partner, but you wouldn’t believe how unqualified the other candidates have been.”
She huffed a laugh and decided to indulge him anyway. “Uh… I don’t know. I work in editing. I’ve been thinking about getting a cat. I have two sisters.”
“I bet you wield a mean red pen. But a definite yes on the cat, not that they like me very much,” he replied quickly. “Are they succubi, too? Your sisters.”
“No, they’re human.” Nesta couldn’t help but think of how defenseless it made them, even though Feyre hated the idea of seeming weak while Elain often used it to her advantage. “It doesn’t stop them from getting into trouble, though.”
“You sound pretty close,” Cassian observed.
“We’ve had our ups and downs,” she replied with a shrug. She liked being honest with him, so she added, “But things got a lot easier once their father died.”
Owain had technically raised her, but he certainly wasn’t her real father. It was no secret how succubi often came into the world, and Nesta had been no exception. Owain had known from the beginning what she was, and had made his disdain for her very clear.
They both knew he had only provided for her under extreme duress — Rhea had begged him to publicly claim Nesta as his child, and on her deathbed, made him promise to take care of her at least until she could fend for herself. Nesta hadn’t spoken to him since she’d graduated from high school, and had only shown up to the funeral out of respect for her sisters.
Nesta had never met her true father, but she hadn’t been too torn up about losing the next worst thing.
“Daddy issues? Me too,” Cassian joked, pulling her attention back to him. “What is it the kids say these days? You can’t be attractive, have a decent sleep schedule, and have a good relationship with both of your parents. You can only have two out of three.”
“Are you saying you have the first two?” Nesta quipped back, surprising herself. It was fun talking to him in a way she hadn’t experienced in a long time, and she found herself wanting to rile him up and see what he did about it.
“Nah, just the first one,” he replied with a smirk. “But if you’re offering to wear me out enough where I can have a decent sleep schedule, who am I to say no?”
“That’s a pretty tall order, Sparky,” she answered, pulling a full-body laugh out of him. “What do you do that you can’t have a good sleep schedule?”
“Guarding the gates of Hell isn’t exactly the most cushy 9 to 5 out there,” he told her dryly, pulling snort out of her. “My other friend at the bar… let’s just say he has a lot of connections downstairs, and Az and I spend a lot of time making sure they don’t come back to bite him in the ass later.”
“And I thought my day job was exciting,” she told him just as dryly while they waited for the crosswalk signal.
Cassian laughed again, showing off his white teeth. “It’s probably more fun than mine.”
“Because reading someone describe a dick as a ‘throbbing manhood’ is surely more fun than downstairs.” Nesta smiled, secretly pleased at the disbelieving expression on his handsome face. “Trust me, there are even worse ones.”
“Hopefully you don’t use any of said worse ones,” he said with a wink before they crossed the street. They rounded another corner before he began slowing in front of a nice-looking building, pulling out his keys from the pocket of his dark jeans. “I don’t think I could take hearing it.”
“Don’t worry, I stick to the classics,” she responded with a smirk. He held the door open for her and placed a warm hand on her lower back, gently steering her through the lobby and toward the elevators. “Assuming you’re worthy of hearing them, that is.”
“I guess you’ll be the judge of that, hmm?” he asked. They were barely inside the elevators before he was using that hand on her back to pull her to him, telegraphing every move so she could pull away if she wanted. “Can I kiss you?”
“Please,” she answered, letting herself be tugged closer so they could finally get their hands on one another. His skin felt even hotter now that she could feel it up close, and she couldn’t help but moan at the feel of one of those calloused hands cupping the back of her neck. He kissed just as brazenly as he’d flirted with her, and combined with how much sexual energy she could sense from him, it was enough to make her a little lightheaded.
The ding of the elevator as it stopped on his floor was enough to pull them to their senses, and Cassian grinned as he released her with a final kiss to the cheek before motioning for her to go first. Nesta somehow managed not to embarrass herself by walking away from him, although she couldn’t help but smile as he took her hand and led her down the hallway until they stopped at apartment 536.
“Home sweet home,” Cassian announced as they walked through the door. His apartment was nice and big, possessing that lived-in feel without coming across as too much of a bachelor pad. “Make yourself comfortable. You want anything from the kitchen?”
“You’re the only thing I can really eat in here,” Nesta replied, arching an eyebrow at him. “But water’s fine.”
He just laughed before returning to the kitchen, flipping on lights as he went so neither of them were stumbling in the dark. “Be right back, sweetheart.”

Prompt-
Nessian sickfic ( cause I love angst and fluff and sicfics are my ultimate guilty pleasure ) where maybe Nesta is sick but she ignores it (cause she is stubborn and refuses to admit that she's unwell & she doesn't want to bother anyone) and goes about her day as normal ( training and all that ) continuously covering up for any ' slip-ups ' (like being slow during training and brushing it off when it's pointed out or something) and then she like maybe passes out infront of everyone at family dinner ( with the IC and the valkyries and all) or something and they all freak out ( cause I've decided that Nesta is truly cared for and loved in this fic ) and go mother hen on her cause she deserves to be coddled. But then there is also Cassian whose upset she didn't say anything and all that stuff...idk I think you can execute this idea better.
It is one of those fics I've always wanted to see (where nesta is coddled and cared for in a domestic sense) but have never found one.
It's okay if you don't want to write this though.I understand that it can be a weird request for some😅
Thanks for the prompt!
Black dots swarmed Nesta’s vision. She gripped the ledge harder, willing her body to right itself. She took another drink of water to steady herself.
‘You alright?’ Emerie narrowed her eyes at her, eyeing the shake in her hand as she pressed the cup to her lips.
‘I think my cycle is coming,’ she grumbled.
A look of sympathy passed Emerie’s face. Nesta still wasn’t used to fae menstrual cycles. They were less frequent at least than when she was mortal, but they were much, much worse. She had woken with dizziness. For once, she was thankful that Cassian had left the bed earlier than her because he’d only fuss at her staggering steps or the way her hip collided with the door frame. Nesta had pressed her face to the cool tiles in the bathroom, tamping down the temperature that had bubbled up in the bedsheets.
Since being turned, she’d only experienced two cycles and they’d been hell. This one was different however, already making her toes feel numb, her movements slow and laboured before it had really begun.
‘Do you need to stop?’
The other priestesses were still hard at work; Azriel oversaw the new recruits with his quiet, patient manner, while the tyrant was barking orders at the other end. Nesta had already snapped at Cassian for taking his bad mood out on the rest of them. For that, she’d had to drop and do twenty push-ups. Not doing them meant she was undermining him – and Cauldron forbid she endure Emerie and Gwyn’s teasing over preferential treatment if she didn’t. So, Nesta had gritted her teeth and forced her body down then back up, even when the whole roof was spinning in her vision. She thought her mate might have noticed her struggling when he put her out of her misery and stopped her at eighteen then ordered her to take a drink.
‘I’m fine.’ But she wouldn’t be if Cassian carried on drilling them this hard. He’d had an argument with Rhys over something and had taken it to heart. ‘I’ll speak to the slave-driver.’
Cassian had his arms folded, brows furrowed, watching the priestesses sparring with each other. Nesta came to stand beside him. The arm she looped through his was not a comfort – it was for her own stability.
‘Will you tone it down?’
‘Going too hard on you, sweetheart?’
‘You know exactly how hard I can take it,’ she murmured, admiring the way his pupils flared at her words. ‘But you’re working with priestesses from the library, not battle-hardened Illyrian males. Ease up or when you’re pushed off the roof, I’ll feign ignorance.’
Sweat ran down the females’ faces. Gwyn was puffing and panting, too breathless to even talk. The harsh din of their swords smashing together was beginning to make Nesta wince. Each clang struck against her temples.
‘Why don’t you show me just how gentle you want me to be?’
The challenge in Cassian’s eyes would have been something Nesta would rise to meet usually, but she wanted to be under a blanket. If she voiced any sort of hurt, he’d fuss too much. A few weeks earlier, she’d twisted her ankle and he’d acted like her life was hanging by a thread, forcing them all to stop, carrying her across the roof, demanding Azriel fetch Madja. Nesta shuddered at the memory.
It was just a cycle. It was normal to feel absolutely horrendous, but everybody got on with it. And so would she. Nesta let out a sigh and retrieved her sword. ‘Must you turn everything into foreplay?’
Cassian grinned at her. ‘One track mind.’
It was not unnoticed by Cassian that she moved more sluggish than usual or that her arm continued to drop. He only chided her for staying up late with her book. When he managed to disarm her lazily, due to her slow reaction times, he forced her to pick up her sword again and again.
‘Complacency will get you killed.’
‘That’s preferable right now,’ she muttered. The throb in her head was growing worse. If there was anymore pressure, her head might explode. She told herself to toughen up, that some of these priestesses might even be on their cycle right now and they were not causing a fuss. It hadn’t felt like this before though, she hadn’t been so nauseous and dizzy, so hot then cold.
‘Again,’ Cassian demanded. ‘Try and disarm me.’
Every time that Nesta lunged at him, her stomach churned more. Her whole body was drenched with sweat. The sage advice he offered went over her head because she was too focused on staying upright.
When she had finally managed to disarm him – thanks to a distraction tactic from Emerie and Gwyn – Nesta raced towards the nearest bin and hurled up her insides. Black encroached on her vision again as she sucked in air, kneeling with her arms wrapped around the bin.
Cassian’s hand was too hot, too heavy on her neck although he meant well. Worry nibbled at his expression already. ‘What’s wrong? Are you sick?’
‘I’m fine,’ she clipped, pushing up from the ground. ‘Pushed through a stitch.’
A cool shadow brushed across Nesta’s forehead then returned back to Azriel. He watched her carefully then said, ‘It’s probably time to stop for today.’
The priestesses who’d been drilled by Cassian all sagged with relief or dropped to the floor clutching their stomachs, making her lie more believable. This was the time where her mate would go around offering generous praise sprinkled with advice while they stretched to ensure each priestess left satisfied rather than groaning. They had started letting whichever female was bravest lead the cool down too which helped grow their confidence.
It had become a ritual to wait until all the priestesses had departed before she went inside herself, to not leave them with Cassian or Azriel alone. The males would never touch them, but if her presence eased their worries then Nesta was happy to stay.
‘What time should I come for the dinner?’ Gwyn asked, rubbing her hands together.
‘Six,’ Azriel replied swifter than Nesta could process the question.
‘You’re welcome to come earlier,’ Cassian added. He gestured to Emerie. ‘Emerie will be here too.’
They had only had a few dinners altogether; Nesta had spent them sandwiched between the two females at the far end of the table enjoying their own private conversation. Usually, she’d look forward to it – to at least have fun while the inner circle stroked their own egos – but with every passing moment, she felt worse and worse. Taking that excitement from Emerie and Gwyn’s eyes was an abhorrent thought though, so Nesta straightened up and continued on.
In the few hours that followed, Cassian returned to Illyria – likely to run off the end of his bad mood on some poor unsuspecting male there. In a sheepish voice, Emerie asked if she could take a shower and a nap in a spare room since she was exhausted from training. Nesta almost tore her arm off in eagerness at the offer.
Instead of seizing the opportunity to catch up on sleep in a tranquil House of Wind however, Nesta ended up clutching the toilet again. She had tried to breathe through the cramps squeezing her stomach while the bed felt like a boat on a tumultuous sea, until she’d raced to the bathroom to retch up every last drop of that morning’s breakfast. If she fixated on a spot on the wall then the whole house didn’t feel as if it was tipping on its side. One moment she was fevered, tearing at her clothes for some relief and the next, her body trembled beneath a blanket. Just a cycle, she told herself again.
When they were all seated at the table, the smells wafting from the kitchen heightened her nausea. The conversations swirled around her. Mor’s ringing laughter was like the peal of a high-pitched bell scraping in her mind. The deep rumble of Cassian’s voice shook her eardrums so violently that Nesta fought the urge to clamp her hands over her ears. She did, however, grip her forehead.
‘Are you well, Nesta?’ Elain asked, her hand stilled as it reached for a dish.
‘Fine. I forget how loud those two are.’ Cassian and Mor were like a pair of hyenas together, one high-pitched and yipping, the other capable of shaking the room with his voice.
Lucien smiled. The motion had the scar on his face tightening. ‘I’m glad we picked this end of the table.’
The heat from the dishes rose around the table. Nesta had worn a plain grey gown, suitable for the autumn day, but it suddenly felt too thick on her body. Her armpits were turning into a swamp and she fanned her face.
‘You don’t look good.’
Nesta blew out a breath through her pursed lips. ‘That was rude.’
Gwyn shook her hair from her face. ‘I mean that you look sick, Nesta.’
‘I’m absolutely fine,’ she lied, reaching for the dish of buttery parsnips.
The idea of putting anything in her mouth already had her gag reflex pulsing, but Nesta was nothing if not iron-willed. She forced down a forkful of her dinner then another. She sliced into the tender cut of lamb on her plate, barely chewing before swallowing that too. Heat radiated from her skin. Her dress was clinging to the sweat pooling on her back.
‘You’re sweating,’ Gwyn whispered.
‘Meat sweats,’ replied Nesta, waving away her concern. She jerked the cut of her dress from her chest, flapping it a few times to try and cool herself. Her skin was clammy, speech slurring. ‘It’s hot in here, isn’t it? I need a window.’
It was a mistake to stand so quickly. The floor shifted under her feet so the table appeared as if it was rising into the air as her vision swam. Nesta took a step closer to the window, forcing her feet to move, hoping the blurriness marring her sight would right itself.
Black swamped her. At first, she thought it was Cassian engulfing her with his mighty wings, but her feet kept moving, almost running forwards to save herself. Each beat of her heart was slower, weaker, like a feeble fluttering in her chest.
***
‘Has she been drinking?’ Mor murmured, kicking him under the table.
Cassian jerked his head towards the far end of the table where Nesta was rising unsteadily. Feyre frowned. Beside him, he felt Rhys tense.
‘Hot here. I’m need. Window.’
Nesta’s head lolled to the side as she slurred her speech. Cassian shot from the chair, hurdling towards her, but not quick enough. Nesta fell forwards as she fainted, face smashing into the windowsill on her way to the floor.
‘Shit.’
‘Cauldon, is she alright?’
‘I’ll get Madja.’
‘Oh my goodness!’
Cassian turned Nesta over. She’d taken a chunk out of her eyebrow and the gash was bleeding steadily, but she remained unconscious.
‘Lift her legs,’ Lucien advised, joining him on the floor beside her.
He followed the male’s commandment, raising Nesta’s legs by the ankles and holding them aloft. His throat was dry. Blood pounded in Cassian’s eardrums.
‘She’s only fainted,’ he reassured though it didn’t help. He’d not been quick enough to get to her.
It could only have been thirty seconds at most, yet each one was drawn out to an eternity. Finally, Nesta’s eyes opened groggily. She tried to push up then flopped back down, groaning and clutching the handkerchief Lucien had pressed over her wound.
‘I’m not sick,’ she announced.
‘Like hell you’re not,’ Cassian fumed.
Azriel appeared by them, face knotted with concern. ‘Carry her to bed, she needs to be somewhere soft.’
Elain hurried ahead of them opening each door then peeled back the duvet for Cassian to tuck his mate into – but her skin was like a furnace. The window latch clicked as Emerie opened both to allow the cool evening breeze in.
‘How long has she been sick for?’ Feyre strode from the bathroom brandishing a damp cloth and pressed it to her elder sister’s forehead.
Guilt writhed in Cassian’s stomach. She’d been lethargic in training, but he’d put it down to the fact she’d been awake until the early hours with her book. Damn Azriel for buying her that tiny faelight booklight which meant she’d lay there with the blanket over her head reading and reading until exhaustion took over her body.
‘I’m fine,’ she protested. ‘We can continue dinner.’
The dribble of blood down her face together with the rapidly swelling lump did nothing to convince any of them that Nesta was fine. Her golden hair was damp with sweat. Nobody missed the way she screwed her eyes shut and took shaky little breaths each time she adjusted position.
A rumble of power in the room alerted them to Rhys’ return with the kindly healer, Madja. They swept the growing crowd from the bedside and Cassian inwardly grimaced at the mess he and Nesta had left it in. If she was in a fit state, she’d be shooing them all out of the room rather than let them see her personal things.
‘How long have you had symptoms for?’
‘I’m not sick,’ Nesta repeated. ‘There’s no need to fuss.’
‘Let Madja clean your eyebrow at least,’ Rhys suggested. Feyre had come to stand by him, her mouth twisting with worry. He rubbed her arm with soothing circles.
Dependable Nesta who never let anything pin her down for long, was still putting up a fight. She forced herself upright, clamping her jaw together as she did so. After steeling her nerves, Nesta swung her legs onto the floor and pushed herself to a standing position. The simple move had her sweating with exertion, but she would not meet the eyes of any in the room.
‘There,’ she said shakily. ‘Fine.’
Madja made a noise that could have been a laugh. ‘Walk to the bathroom for me, Nesta.’
The healer jerked her chin towards Nesta as a sign they should flock around her. His mate made it all of three steps before her knees began to quiver and she fainted again. This time, Lucien and Elain had their arms around her, guiding her unconscious form back to the bed. Gwyn lifted Nesta’s ankle and wedged a pillow beneath them.
‘Why won’t she let us take care of her?’ Feyre murmured.
Because Nesta never wanted that to be held over her, Cassian thought. Because Feyre had hunted for her, and all of them had used that to guilt-trip Nesta for a couple of years. She hated depending on anybody. It had taken months before she would let him make her something to eat or help her with sharpening weapons. She’d always eye him suspiciously, worried that he might only be doing it because he wanted something in return.
‘Do you know what symptoms she’s been displaying and for how long?’
At the healer’s question, Cassian could feel his cheeks burning. No, he hadn’t realised his mate was sick. If she’d felt that way for a while, she’d hidden it from him. Shame washed over him.
In the corner, Emerie cleared her throat. ‘She said her cycle is coming.’
‘She vomited during training,’ added Azriel.
Madja placed the back of her hand to Nesta’s forehead. Her magic crawled over her, seeking an ailment. ‘It’s not her cycle. She has a virus. A nasty one. And because of this,’ she gestured to the gash on her brow, ‘I’d wager a concussion too.’
Her magic, a pale, yellow glow, knitted Nesta’s skin back together once the wound had been cleaned with antiseptic.
‘There’s nothing to do except let the virus run its course. Fae sickness is different to mortal ones - it is good if she is able to fight it with her own immune system.’
‘What can be done?’
‘Rest,’ Madja replied to her high lord. ‘For the nausea, bland foods. Try and get her to eat small amounts at a time. Plain toast, bananas, apple sauce. Don’t force her to eat if it makes her sick.’
‘Tea?’ Mor suggested.
‘Ginger can settle a stomach. Peppermint can be useful. Keep her in bed.’
‘Cass will have no issue with that,’ Rhys joked.
Over the laughter, Madja continued, ‘She must rest. No intercourse. While her body fights it, she’ll need lots of sleep. I can provide a tonic that will help her to sleep through fevers too, and another for the pain.’
The room quietened down with Mor, Azriel, and Lucien filing out with the healer. Mor had rustled through the cupboards but only found black tea, which she’d brewed anyway and rested on the bedside table before departing. Feyre loaded up a tray of leftovers and brought it into the bedroom. They picked at food quietly while Nesta slumbered in the bed. Elain perched on the edge of the mattress, holding the cold compress to her sister’s head and taking every opportunity to smooth the blankets around her body.
‘What can I do?’ Rhys asked.
Feyre drummed her fingers on the arm of the chair she’d dragged in from the living room. ‘We have ginger at home, I think. Maybe even peppermint tea. Could you fetch that?’
‘Anything else? Bananas? I can ask one of the twins to make fresh bread. What kind does Nesta like?’
‘Seeds,’ Cassian said. ‘She loves the loaves packed with seeds.
‘Emerie, do you want to stay? Or I can take you back to Illyria?’
At the address from her high lord, Emerie blushed but held her head high. ‘Could I return? Can I come back in the morning? Before training?’ Gwyn nodded eagerly at her side.
The two Valkyries departed, leaving Cassian with all three Archerons. Feyre had taken up the space on the other side of Nesta; both sisters keeping a vigil by the eldest who was stirring slightly. Cassian sat in the chair, fighting against the instinct to move both Feyre and Elain away from his mate so he could be the one beside her. But she hadn’t told him she’d felt unwell. The pain of it was a raw wound, sensitive to touch. He’d forced her to drop into push ups for complaining. Pushed her hard enough that she’d vomited because Nesta would never back down from anything.
‘She never gets sick,’ Feyre mused. She’d folded together a loose sheet of parchment into a fan which she used to gently waft a breeze over Nesta’s blazing skin.
Cassian hadn’t known her to get sick either. Mortals generally were sicker than fae; their bodies were weaker, more prone to picking up illnesses and infection. Even at her lowest, with not an inch of fat or no food in her stomach, Nesta still wasn’t sick.
‘She does,’ Elain countered. ‘But she tells her body she’s not and pushes through.’
‘Only Nesta’s mind could disagree with the rest of her body.’
‘One time when you left… to Prythian, Nesta had the flu but she still went out and chopped wood for the fire. She wouldn’t take a rest, just snapped at me in that way of hers that she was fine.’
Cassian wanted to ask why their father hadn’t gone out to do it, to let his daughter rest when she was unwell. Or why Elain herself had watched Nesta do it rather than volunteering. It was not the time to reopen old wounds, but Cassian still carried grief over the struggles Nesta had been forced to endure in the broken-down cottage they called home.
Rhys returned with an entire banana tree. Its leaves brushed against the ceiling and the house seemed to stretch upwards to accommodate its size.
‘A whole tree, Rhys?’
‘Day Court,’ he puffed, dragging it into the bedroom by its large, ceramic pot. ‘It will be better for Nesta if the fruit is fresh.’
‘A whole tree?’ Feyre repeated.
From thin air, Rhys produced a bag. ‘Ginger tea. Peppermint tea. Peppermint and spearmint tea. Ginger and peach tea. Lemon, ginger and honey.’
‘Fuck, Rhys how many did you buy?’
He set them all out on the desk, swiping away Cassian’s carefully organised paperwork. ‘The shop was closing, but stayed open for me. I'd feel guilty if I only purchased one kind.’
‘So, you purchased every kind they sold?’ Feyre queried.
‘Nesta’s unwell.’ That reason seemed to cover everything.
Before they all departed for the night, Rhys had brewed another pot of tea. Feyre had sliced up bananas and lightly toasted bread while Nesta groggily woke in bed. Elain helped her to sit up through the protests that she was fine to do it herself.
‘Why is there a tree in my bedroom?’
‘Rhysand was worried about you.’
Nesta blinked at Elain, the reply not quite answering her question.
‘Madja recommended bananas to help settle your stomach,’ Cassian explained, sitting in Feyre’s vacant position on Nesta’s left. He stroked a wide hand across her face, feeling the searing heat beneath. ‘Do you want to try and nibble on toast? Feyre’s making some for you.’
‘There’s ginger and peach tea here too. You used to love peaches.’ Before Nesta could protest, Elain was lifting the cup to her lips and cradling her jaw. ‘You must keep your strength up.’
‘I have strength. I disarmed my mate earlier.’
‘Through cheating.’
A spark lit up Nesta’s eyes as she caught his own gaze. ‘It doesn’t matter how the battle is won, as long as it is.’
Once the final three departed, Cassian slunk an arm around Nesta in bed. Her skin had cooled, but she remained sleepy and lethargic. He fed her chunks of cold toast that took her an age to chew. Her eyes were closed, head tilted towards his chest.
The question had been brimming on his lips for a long time. He had waited until the others had departed to give his insecurities a voice. ‘Nes, why didn’t you say anything?’
‘I didn’t want you to fuss. I’ll be fine tomorrow.’
‘Maybe I wanted to fuss over you,’ he said. ‘Maybe I want to take care of my mate. It hurts me that you didn’t think I would take care of you. I feel horrendous that I made you train today. And do not say that you are fine.’
Nesta let out a long sigh after sipping at her tepid tea. ‘I know you’d take care of me. You flap around like a mother hen if I get a papercut.’
‘Because I love you. And seeing you in any pain causes me distress. I just want you to be safe and happy and well.’
‘It’s just my cycle.’
‘Madja said you have a virus. And you are staying in bed tomorrow. Maybe even the next day.’
‘What about training?’
‘Az will do it. I’ll be here with you. Emerie is coming in the morning along with Gwyn. So let us take care of you like you deserve.’

A Warrior’s Cry
Summary: While battling Hybern’s lost allies, Cassian and Nesta are separated on the battlefield. Cassian’s worst fear comes true as Nesta is injured in battle. (Nessian One-Shot set 200 years after ACOSF)
Read on AO3
Word Count: 2.1k
Pairing: Nesta x Cassian
Warnings: Major Character Injury, Descriptions of Blood and Violence
A/N: I hope you all enjoy this. I really wanted to write a fic like this for awhile and finally got up the courage to do so. Im open to more Nessian prompts and questions so feel free to ask away.
The battle was bleak but harsh. Hybern’s lost allies had attacked with deadly precision. When Rhys and the other High Lords of Prythian chose a battleground they usually chose it well. But nothing could have prepared them for this slaughter. The Allies had used the last 200 years to plan this battle in their favor. They had littered the ground with mines made of faebane, even going as far as to grow the grass that lined the battlefield with it. By the time everyone realized what was happening, it was too late to back down. No amount of faebane anecdote could nullify the amount that clouded the air.
The Illyrian legions and Seraphim forces took to the ground as many were being shot out of the sky. Nesta had ridden in leading her fellow Valkyrie on pegasuses granted to them by Helion years ago but quickly followed suit. The new weapons made of ash wood with bullets laced with faebane were a shock to everyone. They were proving to be utterly lethal.
Mud mixed with blood splashed upon Athena’s white coat as Nesta rode her into a group of Allies. Smoke went up in plumes from the battlefield and the clinking of swords and firing of weapons drowned out the sound of the fallen still clinging to life.
Nesta swung Ataraxia with great force, downing two men before they could even swing their own swords. She had traded in her Illyrian leathers years ago for the gray and royal blue of the Valkyrie. Emerie, Gwyn, and her had argued over the design for what felt like decades before they finally decided on one that felt unique to them and emphasized their strength.
She had lost sight of them ages ago and could only pray that they were holding up on the battlefield. She had also lost sight of Cassian as the overhead forces took the field. After being mated for over 200 years, she couldn't help but feel terrified at the thought of losing him here. Their daughter Amelia, had stayed behind in the camps with Elain. Though she proved to be a great warrior, she and Cassian had insisted she wasn’t ready for this kind of battle–and they were right. Nesta couldn't imagine their daughter being out here, what would happen if she got hurt or worse.
Far off in the distance, she could make out the blonde braid of Mor’s hair as she fought relentlessly against a male almost twice her size. A glimpse of blue caught Nesta’s attention to the right of Mor–there stood Azriel gutting their enemies with the swiftness of a cat and the stealth of a shadow. She had no idea what front of the field Feyre and Rhys had taken, only that they undoubtedly took it together with Nyx closely by their side.
The sound of Ataraxia’s blade slamming against the males in front of her did little to calm her mind. She took him down and quickly rode further into the battlefield. Athena was again swarmed by more soldiers. Nesta reached for her short blade at her side and exerted all her focus on taking down their enemies and getting through this battle. Finally taking down Hybern’s lost allies and sympathizers, an era of potential peace–the calm before the next storm.
Nesta was so focused on what lay in front of her that she didn’t feel the shudder up her back as an enemy sharpshooter aimed their weapon for her. Though the mile between them made it difficult to get a clear shot of her vital body parts, he aimed anyway and landed a calculated blow in Nesta’s abdomen. She hissed and nearly screamed as it tore through her flesh but kept battling the soldiers ahead.
She managed to take down five more soldiers before another shot rang out, hitting Nesta a few inches below her collarbone. Blood sprayed all over Athena’s white coat. Nesta dropped her short blade, her left arm going limp from the pain and the faebane quickly taking effect. Before she could attempt to raise Ataraxia again, another shot rang out. This time it hit Athena, causing the pegasus to flare its wings and rear up. Another shot aimed at Athena’s chest struck, causing her to let out a wounded cry. The angle caused Nesta’s foot to get stuck in the stirrup and as Athena went down, so did she.
Cassian took in the destruction left by the battle around him. Bodies covered portions of the field, a variety of broken wings and limbs sticking up at odd angles. Fires smoldered from blown mines and parts of the ground laid bare. He had landed from the sky miles away from where the battle had started, losing Nesta in the process. Gods he knew she could handle herself, but he worried for her.
He continued to patrol the now calm field doing a quick estimate of casualties and eyeing the weapons of fallen enemy soldiers. He prayed that Nesta was okay and heading back to the camp, back to their daughter and family.
He hadn't spotted Rhys or Azriel but assumed his brothers made it out of the battle in one piece by the quiet and calm feeling at the thought of them. The faebane weapons and grown field had shocked all of them. They had been taking the anecdote in preparation but were taken aback at the amount that coated the plants in the ground and settled into the air. As soon as Cassian felt it, he felt weak–almost sick but he powered through.
The casualties were great but Prynthian had again emerged victorious. Now all he wanted to do was go home, rest, make love to Nesta until they were both hoarse, and enjoy peace while it lasted. Anything to chase the thoughts of those who would be grief-stricken as their loved ones didn't return home.
Cassian, Ferye’s tense voice filled his head.
Feyre? Is everyone-
It’s Nesta…She’s hur-
Cassian took off into the skies before Feyre could even finish the sentence.
He landed outside their tent, shaking the ground with the impact of his landing. As he stood to his full height, he took in the figures of Emerie, Mor, Gwyn, Azriel, and lastly Rhysand standing in front of the opening to the tent. Their battered faces were pale and held grim expressions. He began to storm towards the opening in the tent but Rhys stopped him. All the stars in his eyes had disappeared, and Cassian thought the worst. He could already smell the tang of Nesta’s blood leaking out of the tent.
Rhys leveled his stare. “Amelia, Elain, and Feyre are already inside along with Madja. They’re doing everything they can. She was-”
Cassian pushed past Rhys into the tent before he could say another word. And there on a cot set in the middle of the space lay an unconscious Nesta. Cassian could feel eyes on him but could only focus on the paleness of Nesta’s skin, the way her hair had dimmed, and how her chest struggled to move up and down. There were cloths stained with her blood scattered around Madja as she worked to dip a fresh one in the red-tinted water of a basin. Elain hovered over Madja with a smaller bowl in her hands that looked like it contained removed bullets. Feyre knelt on the other side of Nesta, holding Aria close as his daughter held Nesta’s hand and sobbed over the state of her mother.
“Dad?” Cassian snapped out of his stupor long enough to look at his daughter. He was met by her eyes, her mother’s eyes, framed by the dark waves of her hair and emphasized by the slight tan of her skin. Her wings laid limply folded to the side as if she was too depressed to keep them up.
Feyre moved away as he knelt next to his daughter and took her in his arms. Her tears stained his fighting leathers as he rubbed her back in an attempt to calm her. After several moments he repositioned her so she could place her head on his shoulder as they observed Madja’s magic working to heal Nesta’s internal wounds.
Cassian asked to whoever, “What happened?”
Gwyn answered. “I found her on the field partially under Athena. I knew she was bleeding out and managed to maneuver the pegasus off her legs. I flagged down Nyx and he winnowed us here.”
Cassian took a second to absorb the information knowing that everyone tensely waited for his reply. But he looked at Nesta’s pale face and asked, “Will she be okay?”
Madja leaned over Nesta’s abdomen, face tense with sweat gathering at her temples as she focused her magic on the shredded hole left by a bullet. “I was able to remove the bullets and any leftover fragments. The faebane residue mixed with the ash wood is making it very difficult to properly heal the damaged muscle but I am cleaning and closing the wounds at an albeit slow pace. The weight and impact of the pegasus falling on her fractured her pelvis and her left fibula. I already mended the bone to the best of my abilities, she’ll have difficulty walking for a while but should recover just fine.”
Cassian let out a long sigh that he didn’t realize he was holding. He felt Amelia relax slightly beside him and take in a deep breath. Nesta was going to be okay, he had almost lost her but she will be ok. He quietly thanked the Mother for sparing Nesta’s life, for giving them more time together, for letting their daughter have a mother for a longer time than they each had with theirs.
Everyone slightly started as Nesta stirred and groaned as she slowly gained consciousness. Cassian was quick to move closer and take her hand in his. Her now dull eyes focused on him, she moved her mouth to speak.
Cassian attempted to calm her. “Shhh, don’t talk. Everything’s okay, you're okay Nes. I’m here, everyone is here.”
Nesta’s gaze caught on Amelia as she moved closer. Her eyes filled with worry as she took in Amelia's tear-stained face and sad smile. “I thought I lost you, mom. I love you so much.”
He let go of Nesta’s hand at that moment. She weakly and slowly reached up to Amelia’s face, placing her hand on her cheek. Amelia let out a choked sob as Nesta attempted to wipe away her tears. It was as if it finally hit their daughter that Nesta would be ok, she wasn't going to be losing her mother today–not yet.
Nesta’s eyes drifted back to Cassian as Amelia started to move away. He took the opportunity to move closer, placing his brow against the side of her face and taking her hand in his once again. He inhaled her sunkissed winter scent and mentally thanked the Mother again. He sensed the movement of everyone excluding Madja leaving the tent.
As he looked into Nesta's eyes, he saw their past and their future. How she had pushed him away, how they came together as she healed from her past, and their extravagant but intimate mating ceremony. The joy they felt when finding out she was pregnant with Amelia to the birth of their daughter months later. He thought of those nights spent in each other's company as he tried not to fall asleep while she stayed up reading past dawn. The times when Amelia was small enough to squeeze in between them, her little wings slightly fluttering as she dreamed. He remembered falling asleep watching Nesta hold their daughter close. Cassian looked to the future and cherished all the little things in it. Nesta was his world, his everything. And after coming this close to losing her, Cassian let his tears fall.
He closed his eyes and took in a shaky breath. “You scared the hell out of me, Nes. I thought ‘this is the moment I lose her, the love of my life is being taken from me.’ I started making mental vows to Amelia and promising to love her with twice the amount of love to make up for what she would’ve lost from you. I was already giving myself reasons to go on and not fall into that place of numbness. The thought of living my life without you terrified me. A world without you, is a world without my soul. But here you are, my strong Valkyrie who always persists. I love you, and Mother above, please don’t scare me like this again.”
Cassian could barely make out Nesta’s face through his tears but the squeezing of his hand in hers made him blink rapidly to see her face. As she became clearer, he noticed that she was crying too. And in her eyes lay the answer to all his problems, all his worries–the words that could heal everything in his heart.
I love you too.

taking a vacation with feysand and/or nessian
poly!feysand x reader & poly!nessian x reader
summary: for poly!acotar week day 4, adventure
warnings: none, very brief suggestiveness
a/n: look ... I messed up the dates and it might be barely but I still made it. here's some drabbles/ headcannons!
poly!Nessian x Reader
Perhaps surprisingly, Cassian insisted on planning it all as well as keeping it a surprise. Normally, he’d give in to either of you with enough pestering, but this time he was an iron wall, not a single clue or hint given to either of you.
He pinched his thumb and forefinger together before drawing them across his lips, even miming tossing a key over his shoulder. You rolled your eyes, but a fond smile crept on to your lips.  “What if I promise not to tell Nes?” He snorted, and you lifted and dropped your shoulders. It was worth a try - but they both knew you were terrible at keeping secrets from either of them.  "It was worth a shot," you mumbled, redirecting your attention to the book on your lap. A shadow covered you, two fingers tilting your chin up. He pressed a kiss against your forehead, chapped lips lingering for a few seconds. "It'll be worth the wait," he reassured, confidence flowing through every word, not a hint of bullshit. Your eyes narrowed, but you gave a nod. Seemingly content, Cassian placed a too-brief kiss to your lips before making his way out of the room.
Nesta was a tad anxious over how his planning would turn out
“It’s not if it’ll be a disaster, it’s how much of a disaster.”  “Have a little more faith in him,” you chastised, quickly looking away as she turned her glare on you.  “We don’t get much … time free together,” Nesta sighed, and you carefully covered her hand with your own. “I want everything to go well.”  “We’ll be together,” you insisted. “That’s good enough for me.”  Her mouth curved at one corner, a grateful look shot your way, her hand turning up so your palms met, her fingers wrapping around yours and squeezing.
Cassian was impressed with himself, and firmly believed he had every right to be. He hoped both of you would as well. Mother above, he’d sworn an oath to Tarquin for this.
“The blindfold is a little extreme,” you grumbled, fidgeting with the cloth knot at the back of your head. Cassian gently swatted your hand down.  “We’re almost there.”  Nesta was quiet next to you, her hand steady in yours, but you could nearly taste the anxious energy rolling from her. You gave her what you hoped was a comforting squeeze.  Salt, and sea, and sand hit you at once, along with a scent distinct to one place …  The knot loosened at the back of your head and you tore the cloth off, rapidly taking in your surroundings. You weren’t in Adriata, but it was unmistakably the summer court.  “Cassian,” you hissed, “you’re banned, for life.”  “I promise we’re fine,” he grinned, and produced a paper from his pocket, holding it out to you with a flourish. Nesta peered over your shoulder as you carefully unraveled it. A letter - attesting Cassian and company were allowed to access this beach and a rental vacation home for the next seven days, signed by Tarquin himself.
poly!Feysand x Reader
Feyre and Rhys argued over where to take you - in their minds, of course. It seemed the only thing they could agree on was to keep it a surprise. You watched them, eyes glazed, but lips pursed - obviously in some kind of mental argument with each other. A crease formed between Feyre's brow, Rhys's lips pressing into a tight line. You didn't like that. Especially considering you were nearly certain it was related to you somehow, otherwise they would've spoken aloud. Clearing your throat, you tried your best to get their attention. Nothing. "Right, I'm heading out," you finally called. Still no response. The sting and small sense of hurt came naturally, and you let the door slam behind you a little louder than you usually would. Rhys's muffled voice came after the slam but you were already out the door. "I'll make it up to you later, darling," Rhys's voice slid into your mind, smooth and full of promise. "I'll look forward to it," you didn't know if it was possible for your voice to be breathy in your own head, but you certainly gave your best impression of it.
Feyre packed for you, of course.
You perched on the edge of the bed as Feyre started rummaging through the drawers. First, she picked up a sundress with thin straps and flowing fabric that would just brush the middle of your thighs - ideal for hot weather. Next came a thick woolen cloak. You tilted your head, catching her eye in the mirror. "How many places are we going?" "Oh," she carefully folded a long sleeved shirt, "just one." Your mouth parted, but she answered the next question for you. "We can't have you spoiling the surprise." A laugh bubbled from your chest. Their secrecy had only made you more determined in turn, and it turned into something of a game for you over the last week.
Rhys had scouted the location no less than six times in the week before, Feyre accompanying him for a few of the trips. He knew it was safe, but with you he had to be certain.
Your back pressed against his chest, his hand covering your eyes, you winnowed - holding your breath at the sensation that never quite felt comfortable. As soon as you hit solid ground, you attempted to peel his fingers away from your eyes, but his grip was firm. "Rhys," you hissed, and he laughed but released you. Jaw dropping, you spun in a circle. Feyre stood with her hands clasped in front of her, shifting back and forth. An island. "Where," you cleared your throat, "where are we?" "An island not far off the coast," Rhys wrapped an arm around your waist, slowly turning you. You felt Feyre smooth fingers grasp your other hand, thumb brushing over the back of your hand. Rhys was still speaking, you realized and focused back in. "You can see Velaris," his voice was laced with a touch of amusement that told you he was well aware your attention wandered. Sure enough, there was a cluster of lights, but appearing barely larger than your fingertip. Twisting your head over a shoulder, you spotted the ... cabin was an understatement. Mini-palace waiting for you. Shrugging away from Rhys's grip, switching to grasp his hand instead, you tugged them both forward, their laughter trailing behind you.

You walked into the House of Wind to see Cassian and Nesta kissing. You sigh at your lovers, always around each other kissing or fucking, not caring where they were or who near them. Though, you admit, you liked it. Liked how they didn't care what other people thought and just did whenever they wanted.
They break apart at the sound of your footsteps walking in. Both of them instantly turning to you and ginning. "You're back! How was you day?" Cass asks, getting up to kiss you welcome. You instantly melt into his lips, pouting when he pulls back.
"How do you think? Keir was an ass as always. I got the job done, though." He takes your gear and leathers off as you rant on about how Rhysand gave you a mission to go to Hewn City. Keir had some notice to give to the High Lord, but Rhys and Feyre were too busy with other things to go there themselves. You didn't get time to tell your partners about your task before going there, it took you an entire day to finally be able to come back.
"After going there, I got to know he wasn't even there that moment, I had to wait an entire hour before meeting him. I was so pissed." You huff as you sit on the couch beside Nesta before pulling her into a small kiss too. "And then the meeting was in some club, it was so disgusting. Everyone was drinking and humping anything they saw, and the smell! I almost puked! I swear I even saw a couple fucking in the background." You gag at the memory. Ness and Cass, too, grimacing in disgust with you.
"Alright we need wine if we want to erase that image out of our heads." Cassian walks out to the kitchen, leaving you and Nesta alone for a minute. You shift from your sitting position and lay your head on her lap, wrapping your arms around her waist and relaxing your head on the soft muscles of her thighs.
She waves her fingers through you hair, freeing them from your bun and massages your scalp lightly. You almost pur under her hands. She smiles slightly at your closed eyes and the tense of your body slowly relaxing with each stroke of her fingers.
You are almost asleep when Cassian walks back out, balancing three glasses and a bottle of white wine in his hands. "Alright, come on, drink up." He sits down at your other side as you get up from Nesta's lap, and he lines up the glasses to fill them.
"You know, you could've just asked the house to bring and serve these for us." You raise an eyebrow at him. Nesta smirks at you both and Cassian pauses pouring the wine for a second, frowning at the glass, as if he just now realized that. "Well- Maybe I just wanted the house to rest for a day." His tone sounding defensive before continuing his work.
You and Nesta laugh when he doesn't look at you while handing out your glasses.

"You know, I also learned something else in that club today."
Both of your partners groan at your words. You have been talking non stop about all the vulger things you saw in those walls and how revolting you feel at them. They both were polite enough to hear you, but not listening anything that came out of your mouth. Their drunken states not helping at all in paying attention to things they don't want to listen to.
"Oh don't worry, this one's fun." You get up from where you were sprawled out on the ground. Nesta and Cassian laying on the couch, sitting in a position that can be described as in middle of sitting and laying. Their eyebrows raise as they look at your excited expression before glancing at each other with suspicion.
"Okay so this is apparently a thing they do in bars, it's called a body shot." Your smile raising their unsureness even more.
"And what is that?" Cassian asks.
"It's when one person lays down, and another person drinks alcohol off of them." You nod in enthusiasm.
"What do you mean off of them?" This time it's Nesta that asks because Cassian is still trying to understand what you said through his high head.
"Like, the person that's laying, has to hold a lemon in thier mouth and the other person puts salt on the layer's chest and spills drinks in thier navel and drinks from there." You try to explain as good as you can, but words don't seem to come to you to do so exactly.
Cassian frowns,"that navel part, sounds... unsanitary." Nesta nodding along him.
"Well that's true. Maybe we'll just make the person laying, hold the glass." You say.
"Oh so we are doing this?" Nesta blinks.
"Yes!! Come on it'll be so fun!" You pout.
"Well who will?" Nesta looks between the two of you.
"Don't look at me. I didn't understand any of it. I'll just mess it up." Cassian puts his hands up.
"Nesta, come on please. I really want to try it. It'll be alright if you really dont want to though. Your choice." You smile at her.
She looks at you and then Cassian and he nods, repeating your words. She inhales deeply before finally saying. "Fine. I'll do it." And you squeal in excitement.
"Alright. What do I have to do?" She gets up from the couch, standing in front of you. Slightly smiling at your excited face as you ask the house for a cut in half lemon and salt.
"Okay, take off your shirt." She does, but the second it's off, you and Cassian both get distracted when you realized she doesn't have anything underneath. She smirks at your reactions when cassian matters,"I don't know what's happening but I love it."; And you practically drool at her perfect breasts.
You quickly gather yourself and shake your head, trying to think straight. You clear your throat and say,"Alright, now lay down on your back on the ground." She does so without question. Laying in front of the couch so that Cassian can see you both from your sides. You kneel down beside her before draping one leg over her thighs, straggling her lap.
You take the glass of wine and instruct her to hold it. You sprinkle a pinch of salt over her naked chest and take the lemon,"Open your mouth." Your voice a thick with arousal as you try to keep your eyes away from her curvy flesh. Her lips part, taking one end of the piece of lemon between her teeth.
"Ready?" You wait until she nods and then dip down, parting your mouth to trail your tounge over her chest. Starting from her lower chest, slowly leading up. Feeling a little mischievous, you circle your tounge around her nipple, the sour taste of salt mixing with the sweet of her pirked bud. You smirk when she gasps under you.
You arch your spine, leveling your ass up for Cassian, giving him a perfect show as he groans. You sit up enough to take the glass out of Nesta's hand and drink down the liquid before putting it aside for the final step. You lean down again, parting your lips and take the other end of the lemon between your teeth. You graze your lips over hers, stilling a little to smirk at her fushed expression before leaning back and swallowing down the sour juice.
You take out the remains of lemon, and it vanishes, the house throwing it out for you. You smile widely at Nesta,"And that is a body shot."
The three of you are silent for a while as they try to take in what just happened. Your smile slowing flattens when Nesta doesn't say anything but just stares at you, up on her elbows. You think maybe she didn't like it and try to pull away from her, thinking of apologising before her hand suddenly shoots out, pulling you back onto her.
Before you could say anything she leans up and slams her lips to yours, her hand now gripping your hair and the other, behind you, wrapping around your waist and pulling you into her. You chests flushed together, her tightened nipples rubbing against the fabric of your clothes.
"Wait! So you liked it?" You pull back as far as you can with her hand pulling on your hair, she uses the time to bite and suck on your neck, and you whimper at the pain and pleasure.
"Yes." She whispers against your skin before pulling back to look into your eyes and says,"And we're not done."
She kisses harshly, and pulls at your clothes to rid of them, another pair of hands join hers when she fambles with the bottons too many times. She pulls back to concentrate on getting you out of your clothes while Cassian tips your head to side, your back against his chest now as he kneels behind you over Nesta, you lean up to kiss him too, just as passionately. His stubble grazing against the soft skin of your face and you whimper.
Nesta finally opens all the bottons of your shirt and roams her hand over your chest, pinching and twisting your nipples, making you moan into Cassians mouth. He pulls back to take Nesta's mouth on his as thier hands wrap and pull on your body. You moan again, you love seeing them kiss and having thier hands on you.
It is going to be a long night.

Thoughts and Takes As I Re-Read the ACOTAR Series
This is extremely long and I have been typing it for weeks now. These are just my thoughts and I am typing them as I go. If you read it, I hope you enjoy it and maybe we can agree on most things. I would really love to hear everyone else's thoughts, too! 🙂
I don't feel like people blame papa archeron nearly as much as they should. It should not have been any of the sisters' responsibility to do what Feyre did. And after reading Nesta's POV, I don't blame Nesta for being so cold and hateful towards her father.
Lucien annoyed me so much in ACOTAR so much so that it was hard to like him in ACOMAF but I really tried to like him and give him a chance when Sarah made him Elain's mate and I realized that he could have a big role in ACOWAR.
I believe Tamlin had his redemption arc in ACOWAR when he saved Feyre and Az when they were rescuing Elain and then again when he saved Rhys. But I don't think Sarah will explore his story and she might be keeping him alive right now so that he can die at the right time.
After what Tamlin did to her and then allying with Hybern, I don't blame Feyre for ruining his court. He deserved it.
I don't think Ianthe suffered enough and I think that Nesta or Elain should have been the ones to have killed her.
Elain and Az were obvious to me in ACOMAF, just like Nesta and Cassian were and I was truly truly shocked when sarah made Lucien Elain's mate. I believe that there is so much more to that night than we know about and we'll learn about it when we get to Elain & Az's POVs. I believe that the bloodbane in Az's blood was killing him and nullified any bond that could have been there even before Elain was turned. Az was shot with the arrow before they went up to the throne room and that is why Lucien showed signs of mate behavior once Elain showed up. I believe the cauldron was wrong.
That being said, I tried to give Lucien a chance in ACOWAR and he just gave me the ick when talking about Elain. It didn't feel right to hear him say that he wanted to "see if she was worth it." Like she should already be worth it. Don't hesitate. I just did not see it at all.
I think that LoA will be the one to kill Beron. Don't know why, but I just feel that she will lose it and run to Helion.
Sarah had every opportunity to set Elucien up and she didn't. I believe she set them up for failure from the get-go. She instead focused on Elain and Az. I could do an entirely separate post about Elain, Lucien, and Az.
I believe Mor and Eris are mates, especially after what was said in ACOSF. I believe that he knows that she prefers females and wanted to save her from a loveless, unsatisfying marriage. I do think that he handled it wrong. Like that whole situation could have been handled so much better.
I think the whole Mor, Az, and Cassian situation was extremely weird. And now that Cassian is with Nesta and Az could possibly be with Elain, maybe Mor can finally move on and be free and not hide anything anymore. I wish that Mor would have talked to Nesta in ACOSF and explained and apologized for everything. Maybe she'll sit both the sisters down and talk about it one day.
I think Amren and Varian are cute together, but I think Amren should have stayed dead. Sarah is notorious for killing and then unkilling her characters and I think that gets old. I believe that sarah brought her back as a way to keep the summer court involved with the night court and to have a "know it all" character.
I think that Feyre and Rhys have a true, soul mate, true love, fairytale mating bond and I think Nesta and Cassian have a more realistic one. Feyre and Rhys fell in love before the bond was accepted and Nesta and Cassian were just beginning to fall in love before the bond was accepted. Lust and attraction and the pull of the bond is what truly brought them together but they quickly fell in love with each other.
I hate all the hate that Nessian is getting. People who say that Nesta should get with Eris literally make me sick and I want to throw ACOSF at them. They obviously need a to read it again. People need to realize that Nesta was in the wrong in HOFAS and Rhys had every right to freak out like he did and Nesta needed to be yelled at for that. I don't blame Cassian for not stepping in. And people forget how sarcastic Nesta is and they actually take her seriously when she said that Rhys debated executing her. Like do yall really think Cassian and Feyre would allow that or that Rhys would do that to his brother and his mate?? Like come on now.
Speaking of Rhys, I don't think he was wrong for keeping the danger of feyre's pregnancy from her. As a mother of 3 myself, I would be terrified every single day if I knew that my pregnancy could end with the death of myself and/or my baby. Like I would not want to know. Pregnancy is stressful enough as it is, even with healthy ones. And this is why I don't think he was wrong for freaking out on Nesta. I mean, he almost lost his mate, his son, and his life like what, 6 months before that? Like I can't imagine how scared Rhys is every day knowing that he almost lost everything and then Nesta gave a STRANGER a MADE OBJECT from the trove and could have LOST IT to the ASTERI who could have come to their world and DESTROYED them all. GIVE RHYS A BREAK YOU GUYS!!!!! I love Nesta, love her to death, but she was wrong for that.
I have my thoughts on Gwyn. I think she's a lightsinger. I think that is what Az's shadows react to, just like Nesta reacts to her. I don't think her and Az are mates. I don't think she's attracted to Az at all. I think she wants to prove herself to him because he did see her on the most traumatic night of her life. I think she wants to prove to him and everyone around her that she is and can be strong. That's it. There is nothing more to her and Az other than trainer and trainee. I also think that Merrill is the one manipulating everything and everyone, including Gwyn who might not know that she's a lightsinger. I think Merrill is working with Koschei.
Even after all the books, I still believe that Elriel will happen. There's just too many canon moments for me to ignore to see the possibility of Elucien. I only say elucien because gwynriel isn't a canon couple. They are not canon at all. The only thing that elucien has going for them is their bond.
I think Lucien will reject the bond for Elain. Lucien isn't a bad guy. I don't think he'll fight for Elain when he knows that she does not want him or their bond. He won't let Elain become his mother. I think he will find happiness with Vassa and they will be like Elide and Lorcan.
I believe people who support elucien only care about Lucien. I mean, how could you think that Elain wants to be with him after reading the books?
Based on the story of Koschei, it's not crazy to assume it will be 3 sisters and 3 brothers. Sarah is a very predictable writer and this is what most of the fandom has expected since ACOMAF and Koschei being the last big bad confirms that. Especially when you add in Vassa and Lucien into the mix. Just read the story of Koschei and tell me I'm wrong.
I believe that Az is experiencing the effects of a mating bond with Elain. He acts more like her mate than Lucien does and there's canon proof of this.
I believe the only reason Rhys stopped Az and Elain that night was because 1. he was convinced he would die with Feyre when she gave birth and didn't want his court to be in this war with the autumn court and 2. he is a political figure and he is using elain's bond as leverage with lucien. I believe that if Elain expresses to him how she wants to reject the bond, he would support it and accept Elain and Az.
I hate how everyone focuses on Gwyn and forgets about Emerie. I don't understand why people think Gwyn would be involved with the Illyrians. She is not Ilyrian and even though she finished the blood rite, she has said she does not want that illyrian warrior title. After what she went through during the rite, I don't see her being involved with them in any way. I do believe we will hear about Emerie doing something more like that. She could be an inspiration to Ilyrian females. Speaking of the Valkyries, I don't think they should have won the blood rite. It was very unbelievable. It would have been more believable if they had hid the entire time and waited for Cassian to come find them when the week was over.
Speaking Gwyn again, I think most of her fans overhype her too much. I like Gwyn and I'm glad that Nesta has her as a friend because she needed that. But I don't think we'll ever get her POV. I mean, we heard her story. We know what happened to her and we know pretty much everything about her. We know that she doesn't want that warrior title and she went back to the library not even sure about going to Nesta's mating ceremony. I think her fans forget this. I think they see her as a self insert character. I think they over sexualize her way too much. I'm not saying that SA survivors can't have a sex life so don't come at me. I just don't think she's going to want to be tied up with ribbons while Az holds her down and "ravages" her. The same male who seen what she went through that night. That just makes me uncomfortable. I think Gwyn would be embarrassed by the majority of her fans.
I will another post about that bonus chapter because there is so much to discuss.
I hate the amount of hate Elain gets and the side of the fandom that hates her does not deserve her. There is so much to learn about her and her powers and what goes on in her mind and I can't wait for her book.
I also think that papa archeron unknowingly traded Elain and/or Feyre and Nesta in his deal with Koschei for Vassa's temporary release.
I don't understand how people could hate feysand or any other members of the inner circle. In my opinion, if you hate them then why are you reading the series?? Why are you still here?
I don't think that sarah will make Nesta or Elain an actual queen or high lady. I think that Rhys and Feyre will always be more powerful than them and I think they will be High King and High Queen when the series is over. I can't see sarah making the sisters having the same amount of power or say as much as Feyre. She has always been above them. That has been obvious since the beginning because she's always protected them and taken care of them.
If you guys remember my other posts, then you will know my thoughts on how I think the rest of the series will go. Like elriel, vassien, koschei, the queens, the prison, the dusk court, the trove, all that. Elain and Nesta are the keys and Vassa should be the one to destroy Koschei. Rhys and Feyre will be High King and High Queen with nessian and elriel at their sides and everyone lives happily ever after.
What do you guys think?

Anxious & Bewitched {nessian}
Ship: Nesta x Cassian Summary: College AU; Nesta loses a bet and has to go on a date with Cassian to a haunted corn maze. T/W: None; Fluff
Written with @snelbz
Tumblr media
As Nesta opened the passenger side door and dropped from the cab of the truck, a chill breeze had her tucking her hands into the folds of her thick sweater.
The driver-side door closed behind her and she took a deep breath.
She had no reason to be nervous. There was no reason to be nervous. It wasn’t the first time they’d hung out together, wasn’t even the first time it’d just been the two of them, without the rest of their friends. But this time… This time was different.
He appeared around the front of the truck. “I told you I’d come around to get your door.”
Reigning in the urge to roll her eyes, Nesta muttered, “Yeah, well, you were taking too long.”
He laughed, as he always did when he was clearly exasperated by her. She wondered if somewhere, deep down inside, Cassian secretly wanted to throttle her instead of being amused by her annoyance. She wouldn’t be surprised if he did.
“Most girls—” With one look shot in his direction, Cassian stopped speaking and cleared his throat. “Like corn mazes,” he finished, even though she knew damn well that wasn’t what he was going to say. “Do you?”
Nesta shrugged. “I don’t think anyone really enjoys corn mazes. We all just do them because it’s a tradition.”
“Glad to see you’re excited,” he muttered and shoved his hands in his pockets as they walked toward the ticket booth. “I hope you don’t get scared too easily. They say this is the scariest maze in the county.”
Nesta glanced at the setting sun, barely still in existence. She gave it fifteen minutes before they were in complete darkness. “Do I seem like someone who gets scared easily?”
They reached the front of the line, which saved Cassian from having to answer the loaded question and headed for where the festivities would be starting as soon as the sun fully set behind Ramiel in the distance.
“So,” Nesta began as she looked around at the stands and vendors around them. “I believe the stipulations were one dinner and one trip through the corn maze.”
“And apple cider after the maze,” Cassian reminded her with a wink. The bet they’d made last week over whether Azriel or Elain would earn a higher score on their English lit midterm had won Cassian a date with Nesta, after over a year of rejections. He would make it count.
Nesta’s dramatic sigh was mostly for show as she said, “Right, how could I forget? Where do we start?”
“Dinner?” He asked, gesturing to the stalls they paused before.
Chili, soup, and roasted chicken legs; kettle corn, funnel cake, and, of course, hot cider. The options were limitless and as Nesta’s stomach rumbled hungrily, she realized her appetite was as well. “I could eat.”
After a quick discussion over what they each wanted and whether or not it would count as a date if they weren’t eating the same thing, Cassian led Nesta to an open picnic table, placing her bowl of hearty tomato soup in front of her as she sat down. Rather than taking the seat across from her, Cassian sat next to her, the heat of his thigh against hers as he took a bite out of the massive chicken leg he’d decided on.
He ate like an animal and Nesta hated to admit that she found it oddly attractive.
Nonetheless, she said, “You eat like a barbarian.”
“I eat like a man,” he corrected and nodded towards her soup. “Are you going to pretend to sip that thing like a lady instead of devouring it like you want to?”
The word devour from his lips sent a chill down her spine. She’d read too much smut.
And yes, yes she was.
Nesta took her sweet time sipping her soup, just to spite him. He was finished in less than a minute but he waited patiently for her once his food was long gone.
Half an hour passed before Nesta’s bowl was empty and by that time, the moon and the stars were shining brightly in the night sky. Cassian took care of their garbage and clapped his hands together as Nesta stood from the picnic table.
“Ready?”
She sighed, even as a whirlwind of anxiety and excitement swelled in the pit of her stomach. “I guess I don’t have a choice, right?”
His grin was intoxicating as he said, “Not at all.”
They lined up behind a group of high school students, Cassian recognizing the green and silver of their letterman jackets from the next town over, and sat in companionable silence as the teenagers planned how they’d make their way through the maze. They discussed who would lead, who was too scared and would walk in the middle, and who would bring up the rear, making sure those people from the middle wouldn’t fall behind.
Before they knew it, the excited giggles of the group became shrieks and howls of laughter as they meandered deeper into the maze.
Then it was their turn.
“After you, Nes,” Cassian said, gesturing to the long walkway ahead of them. It faded into nothing but darkness and he swore he heard her swallow before she turned to him.
“I don’t think so. This was your idea, so you get to go in first.”
The attendant rolled his eyes and held an arm out toward the entrance. “I’ve got a line and you’re backing it up. You can go in together.”
Nesta opened her mouth to protest but Cassian took her by the hand and pulled her into the maze. Before she could even catch her breath, they were enveloped in corn stalks, the shrieks and screams of others radiating around them.
Nesta’s body grew taut, so much so that she hadn’t even realized that her hand was still in Cassian’s until they turned their first corner.
“So,” he began, and she could see his smirk in the outline of the starlight, “not scared, huh?”
“I swear to the Cauldron, I will leave right now if you don’t shut up.” The words rushed out of her. She took a deep breath, then another. “I’m not scared. I’m just—”
A guy dressed as a bloodied up zombie jumped out of the cornstalks and Nesta screamed.
But it was Cassian that jumped nearly a foot in the air, a long string of profanity tumbling from his mouth.
Nesta stared at him.
Cassian, chest heaving, stared back.
Then, despite herself, Nesta laughed.
With an exasperated sigh, Cassian took Nesta’s hand again and dragged her away from the still snarling zombie.
“Holding my hand a little tight there, aren’t you?” She asked, once they had moved farther into the maze. He could hear the smile on her face, but didn’t look at her as they surged forward. “Don’t worry, Cass, I’ll keep you safe.”
A twig snapped at their backs and Nesta whirled, turning to face the…empty path behind them. Her eyes darted around, searching despite not seeing anyone or anything there.
A terrified scream from somewhere deeper within the maze had Nesta gasping and clutching onto Cassian’s arm with her free hand.
“I could say the same for you,” he snapped, and cursed when the sound of a chainsaw began to rev from somewhere in the maze. “I’m having a blast.”
“Me too,” she hissed, grounding herself in the warmth of his body. She had never felt so annoyed and so safe at the same time. Maybe if she closed her eyes, this whole experience would be so much more enjoyable.
Ignoring the fact that she was clinging to Cassian for dear life, Nesta continued to make her way through the maze, wishing she was literally anywhere else every time they came to a dead end.
They had just gotten away from a psycho in a hockey mask when Cassian said, “I have no clue how to get out of here.”
Nesta looked down the creepy pathways before them. “I don’t either. Isn’t there some trick to getting out of mazes?”
Snapping his fingers, Cassian took her hand and began pulling her down the path to the right. “Right turns only.”
The psycho in the hockey mask was waiting around the next turn with the rest of his team.
“Why do you even like this stuff?” Cassian demanded as they stopped to catch their breath, warily looking around at the corn stalks, waiting for someone to jump out at them.
“I don’t,” Nesta replied, peeking around the corner, cringing at whatever she saw. “I hate it.”
When there was no response, Nesta glanced over her shoulder, half-expecting him to be gone. Instead, she found him staring at her.
“What do you mean you hate it,” he asked, eyes on hers.
“I mean, I hate getting scared,” she snapped, looking back around the corner. “Slashers and horror movies are the extent of my interest in being scared.”
He muttered under his breath, “I’m going to kill them.”
With her brow furrowed, Nesta turned to find him shaking his head. “Who?”
“Feyre, but I’m sure it was Rhys’s idea, too.” He stepped up behind her, finally seeing the clown standing in the middle of the path and stepped back. “When I asked her for an idea of what you’d want to do, she said you’d love this. That you love haunted houses.”
Nesta tried her best not to gape but couldn’t help herself. “She said what?”
Cassian just shook his head, dragging Nesta past the creepy ass clown.
“You don’t like this, either?” She asked, when he said nothing. Cassian just shook his head, and Nesta scoffed. “Wow.”
“Being scared pisses me off,” he admitted. “Which, your sister knows.”
A realization hit Nesta as they turned yet another corner: he hated being scared, but he brought her here anyway.
Because he thought she would love it.
She hadn’t realized she was staring at him until a second clown popped out of the stalks and Cassian’s hand gripped onto hers so tightly that it hurt.
Nothing else was said until they reached the end of the maze, just a few minutes later. There were no other big scares, nothing else to take any additional years off of Cassian’s life and he wished his sigh of relief when they finally walked out into the open air of the festival wasn’t as loud as it was. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, beyond thankful that the entire ordeal was over and he’d made it out alive.
“Alright,” he said, exhaling one last time and looking towards the stalls. He’d seen someone selling hot cider when they’d first gotten here. “I could go for some cider. Honestly, I’m down for something stronger, if you are, but—”
A tug on his hand had him leaning down and then a warm kiss was pressed to his cheek.
For a moment, he stilled, thinking what had happened hadn’t just happened, but when he met her gaze, she almost looked as surprised as he was. Her eyes were wide and hesitant, glancing hectically between his eyes and his mouth. Cassian swallowed, scared to say or do anything to break whatever the hell was going on here.
“Thank you,” she said, quietly but firmly, eyes locked on his.
“For what?” he asked, blinking. “You were miserable.”
“So were you,” she agreed, and shook her head. “So, thank you.”
“I wanted you to have a good time,” he admitted, brushing his fingers against hers. “I didn’t want you to regret having said yes.”
Her fingers grazed his again, but then she laced them together. “Technically, I didn’t have a choice, since I did lose a bet after all,” she said, voice taking on a teasing tone before dropping back into something softer as she smiled. “But I’m glad I came. I’m glad I said yes, Cassian.”
She glanced down at their joined hands, squeezing his fingers once before she met his gaze. His eyes were already on her and he couldn’t help but stare in awe at how beautiful she was.
Blushing, Nesta cleared her throat. “So. You owe me a drink.”
Cassian hesitated. “Cider? Or…”
“Something stronger may be nice.” Nesta breathed a laugh and Cassian couldn’t help but smile. “Something to take the edge off.”
Cassian couldn’t deny that. He could use the same thing, something to take the edge off. “There’s a bar two miles up the road. I think it’s a biker bar, but it seems… Well, I’ll keep you safe.”
Nesta raised a brow. “Maybe I’m the one to keep you safe.”
Cassian sighed. “You can’t ever just say okay, can you?”
Nesta pretended to think about it. “No.”
Yet, with a wicked smile, she dragged him by his hand to the parking lot - which was nothing more than a field marked off with rope - until they were at his truck. Still holding her hand, Cassian opened the passenger side door and helped Nesta up inside before rounding the truck and climbing up behind the wheel.
The ride to the corn maze had been okay. Conversation had been awkward. Not bad, but a little forced. The ride to the bar was nothing like that. It was brief, but by the time Cassian put the truck in park and cut the engine, he had Nesta dabbing at her eyes as she laughed at a story he was telling her about a prank he and Azriel had pulled on Rhys when they were in high school.
“To this day, he can’t stand the smell of tartar sauce,” he said, shaking his head as unbuckled his seatbelt.
She did the same, laughter still shaking her shoulders. “I don’t blame him, I don’t think I can think of it the same way either.”
With a grin, he opened the door, hopping down and rounded the truck. When he opened her door, he offered her his hand. “You waited this time.”
Her cheeks darkened just a bit, but her eyes sparkled as she said, “Well, I wouldn’t have wanted to take your chance to be a gentleman away.”
“Again,” he added.
Nesta rolled her eyes. “Again.”
After taking his hand, Nesta hopped down from the cab and he locked the truck behind them as they made their way inside the bar. It was pretty busy but they managed to find a little table tucked into the back.
“What’re you drinking?” Cassian asked after Nesta plopped onto the bench.
Nesta lifted a brow. “Surprise me.”
Cassian chuckled. “You trust me that much?”
“We’re about to find out,” Nesta crooned.
Suddenly nervous, Cassian made his way to the bar and waited for the bartender to find her way towards him. He took the time to decide what drink best represented Nesta Archeron.
In the end, he returned to the table with two drinks and two shot glasses.
“What’d you get?” She asked, eyeing the drinks as she set them on the table.
“Jack and Coke,” he said, hovering his hand over the first. Then the second. “Vodka cranberry.” Then he slid one of the shot glasses in front of her and took the other himself. “And a shot of tequila for us both, in case you hate either of those.”
Grinning, she looked back at the drinks. “And if I want the Jack?”
“Then it looks like I’ll be having a pink drink tonight.”
Rolling her eyes, Nesta nudged the Jack and Coke closer to him and took the other. “I like both, but this is my favorite.” She picked up the shot glass and held it out to him. “Cheers.”
Clinking his glass against hers, Cassian tossed it back, before placing it top down on the table. He did his best not to make a face, but found himself chasing his shot with his drink. Blowing out a brisk breath, he asked, “So am I to assume that haunted corn mazes aren’t a part of your yearly Halloween traditions?”
Nesta shook her head, leaning back in her seat. “Absolutely not. I’ve never even been to a haunted house. Feyre and Elain used to try and get me to take them in high school, before they could drive, but I’ve never liked it.”
“Me either.” He drummed his fingers on the table next to his drink. “Why would I want to pay someone to scare me shitless?”
With a laugh, Nesta agreed. “What about you? Anything you do for Halloween every year?”
“Pumpkin carving. Hands down.”
Nesta scrunched her nose.
Cassian blinked. “Do you have…an issue with pumpkin carving?”
“It’s so messy,” she said, sipping from her drink. “And I hate the feeling of all the guts between my fingers. No, thank you.”
Cassian shakes his head, eyes narrowed in her direction. “What kind of person hates pumpkins? Who hurt you?”
“I like pumpkins.” Nesta laughed. “I just like them intact.”
“You’re missing out,” he said, and his toe nudged hers until the table and lingered. “Maybe you should give it another try. Maybe you’ve done it wrong.”
“You’re very passionate about carving pumpkins,” Nesta chuckled.
“I prefer calling it pumpkin art, but yes I am.”
Nesta laughed again and Cassian stared at her in awe. It was nice to see her laugh, smile, be happy instead of glaring daggers in his direction.
He looked away from her, his finger circling the rim of his glass. “You could come over, one night this week, if you wanted. We could carve a couple pumpkins. I’ll handle the guts, all you’d have to do is the fun part.”
Raising her eyebrows, Nesta asked, “And what exactly is the fun part? The stabbing?”
“That and realizing that what you carved looks absolutely nothing like what you planned.”
With a snort, Nesta asked, “I thought you said it was pumpkin art?”
“I did,” he replied with a shrug, but the corner of his mouth was lifted up in a smirk. “But I never said it was good art.”
Tipping her head back, Nesta laughed. When she was done, she brought her glass to her lips and took a drink. “I’d love that.”
Cassian was almost shocked by her revelation. “Yeah?” She nodded but Cassian tried not to get his hopes up too much. “How about Wednesday?”
Nesta slowly set her glass back down. For a second, she hesitated, but then she said, “I can do Wednesday.”
Nearly dropping his glass, Cassian stared across the table. She was not only on a date with him now, but agreed to another in only a few days time.
Either he was dreaming…or she was already drunk.
Maybe a bit of both.
After a few more drinks, Cassian glanced at the clock over the bar and saw that it was pushing midnight. “We should probably go. You said you work at nine?”
With a groan, Nesta nodded. She worked at the library on campus and the librarian was not lenient about tardiness and attendance. “Bright and early.”
Drumming his fingers on the table, Cassian stood. “I’ll pay our tab and we can get out of here.”
By the time he returned, Nesta had finished her drink and was slipping her purse over her head.
His hand fell to the small of her back as they left, the crack of pool balls and droning of the jukebox in the corner fading as they walked out the front door.
As soon as they were outside, Nesta shivered. “It’s definitely fall,” she said, tucking her hands under her arms.
With a laugh, Cassian wrapped an arm around her shoulders and tucked her into his side, not letting himself second guess the move. “It’s almost like you should have worn that coat I mentioned when I picked you up.”
“I’d rather be cold than admit defeat,” she joked, but Cassian sensed there was a bit of truth to it, even as she leaned further into him. “Besides, you seem to like my lack of a coat.”
He did. “I wouldn’t like it if you were to die of hypothermia.”
Nesta snorted. “Once again, look who's being overdramatic.”
She let him open her door and help her into the truck, before it roared to life and he headed back into Velaris. On the ride back to her apartment, Nesta admitted she’d never been to a high school football game, much to Cassian’s dismay.
“What did you even do on Friday nights?” He demanded, glancing over at her as they stopped at a red light.
“Stayed in and read.” She said it like it should have been obvious, and honestly, it probably should have been.
“We’ll have to fix that, too,” Cassian said, just as the light turned green. “There’s nothing like being under those lights, the sounds of the game.”
Nesta lifted a brow. “There’s also nothing like curling up in bed with a good book.”
Cassian shook his head, amused. “You can’t tell me that reading is better than a real life experience.”
“Football is not a real life experience,” Nesta protested but that playfulness in her tone remained. “It’s a sport where people are either getting injured or praised way too much. Sometimes both.”
Cassian looked over to find her already watching him with the smallest of grins on her mouth. “So hateful.”
“I could say the same for you,” she crooned.
“Fine,” Cassian laughed. “You come with me to a game and I’ll read whatever book you give me.”
Eyebrows raising, Nesta asked, “Whatever book I give you? Any book of my choosing?”
“I already feel like I’m going to regret this, but yes.” Cassian pulled into the parking lot of Nesta’s building. “Any book of your choosing, as much or as little smut as you want.”
Nesta’s cheeks darkened. “I’ll start thinking then.”
He put the truck into park, looking over at her. “I can’t wait.”
The cab of the truck was silent, as her eyes met his. It felt quiet, intimate, safe. Softly, like speaking too loudly would shatter whatever was building between them, Nesta said, “I had fun tonight. Despite getting the shit scared out of me.”
“Me too,” Cassian agreed, hardly more than a whisper. “Can I walk you to your door?”
“Yeah.”
Neither of them moved.
The realization that Cassian had no idea what to do was daunting. He had never had trouble with women before but Nesta was a different breed. He’d waited years for this moment and now that it was here, he felt he was walking on glass and it would shatter beneath him at any given moment.
Nesta cleared her throat when the silence dragged on. “Should I get my door this time or…?”
That set Cassian in motion and by the time he rounded the truck and opened her door, she was doing her best — and failing — to hide her grin.
“Shut up,” he grumbled, taking her hand and helping her down.
Her laughter was quiet, but she didn’t let go of his hand as they headed up the stairs and to her door.
“So I’ll come over Wednesday?” She asked, and it was more than Cassian could have hoped for. He’d half expected her to change her mind, to pretend she forgot, and move on.
“Yes, I mean, yeah.” He was stumbling over his words and he cleared his throat. “I’ve got a bio chem lab that lets out at three, but I’m free anytime after that.”
“Then I’ll be there after three,” she said.
Cassian's hand tightened in hers as they stood on her doormat. “Sounds good.”
“Good.” With one last smile that had Cassian feeling weak, Nesta turned towards her door.
Before he could think twice, Cassian pulled on her hand and pulled her towards him until their mouths met, softly. He was still walking that line of caution even if caution was the last thing on his mind.
But she kissed him back, each touch sweet and gentle and nothing like he expected a kiss with her to be like, but far better.
He cupped her face, her lips soft and lush against his, and breathed in her scent before stepping back. The blush on her cheeks was beautiful, her eyes bright, and her breathing was shallow and quick. He wanted to kiss her again, something more than the quick meeting of their lips, but he forced himself to take another step back, to head towards his truck. “I’ll see you Wednesday,” he said, gaze locked on hers.
“Wednesday,” she repeated, voice soft, and unlocked her door. It opened with a creak and she stepped inside. “Goodnight, Cassian.”
The door closed and he was left staring at her autumn-themed wreath. So soft, there was no way she could have heard it, he breathed, “Goodnight, sweetheart.”

If you still need prompts: Nesta was banished to live outside the village and comes across an injured Cassian
I might write a part two to this as it was lots of fun!
The Exile and the Injured
Chosen one. Sacrificial lamb. Different sides of the same coin. Every twenty years, a maiden was chosen at random to be sent to the small cabin located near the Wall that separated the mortals from fae-kind. Those girls were banished until their screams could be heard in the dead of the night. Weeks later, the cabin would be checked; it was said that scratches were etched into the stone floor, claw marks traced into the wooden beams, and blood left permanent stains across the stoop. Nobody knew what took the girls – fae or a creature just as foul – but as long as the sacrifices happened, nothing stepped foot further than the forest, the harvest was always bountiful, and the winters mild.
Families prayed for sons. The Archerons had been cursed with three daughters, so when their name was the one selected, terror squeezed their father’s heart. Of the three, the middle was engaged to a handsome, young male of good status but she had already given her maidenhead to him; the youngest though wild and strong, had her fun rutting in the hay with a local boy and could not be chosen for the task. It left only the eldest to carry her people’s duty on her shoulders.
Nesta’s sisters wept on her final morning with them though the cold terror that ought to have numbed her, never came. The villagers prepared her, some saying prayers of thanks, some saying ones of mourning. Blessed-one. Cursed-one. Saviour. Victim. Being sent to her death had some perks at least: a hot bath had been drawn for her with fresh water only for her use. It had been filled with bubbles and pressed flowers. Women from the village combed her hair, buffed her nails, plucked her, massaged her then rubbed fragrant oil onto her body. A new gown had been produced solely for her; something like a wedding dress made of delicate white silk and spider-web gossamer fibres. A large spread of food was laid out solely for her; a final feast. It was more food than Nesta had eaten in all their years of poverty and she felt a stab of anger that she couldn’t fill her stomach with more to make up for all those bitterly cold nights of starvation.
When the dark night drew in, still the fear did not come. She was little more than a baby when the last girl had been damned. Her mother had witnessed two maidens taken and told her stories that the woman had wept and begged. That one had been carried into the woods and her own mother had collapsed from the horror of it. After a day spent amongst so many fussing women, Nesta was quite glad to have peace that night.
She was allowed a final goodbye to her family. Elain sobbed, Feyre fought to hide her tears, and their father lacked any words. That was no surprise. There was probably relief on his part that he and Nesta weren’t forced to share a roof anymore.
Nesta was accompanied through the dense wood by a group of soldiers either holding swords or torches to light the path. One recited ancient vows to her, confirming that if she tried to leave her cabin and return to her home, she and all of her family would be slaughtered. She was reminded that this was an honour. The stories were known to Nesta. Most maidens were dead within a couple of nights. Oddly, she found that she did not care. She had no prospects otherwise in their tired, little cottage. She had punched Tomas Mandray in the nose when he’d tried to rip her bodice from her – and he'd ensured she had a reputation in the village as a tempestuous wench so other men steered clear. A life as a lonely spinster or a sacrifice - what a selection.
There was no key for the cabin, but there was a bolt on the inside though she doubted it would be much of a defence. When the males left her alone, with a basket of food, Nesta let out a sigh of relief. The cabin was dusty, but liveable. Despite the night, she opened the single window and lit a couple of lamps. It had more space than their cottage, and only she would be sleeping in the bed tucked into the corner. There was a humble stove that looked as if it had never been used as well as a couple of pans, a set of cutlery, and a large carving knife. The sheets on the bed definitely needed to be washed tomorrow. There was even a bookshelf with a number of yellowed books on it. She’d devour those in a few days. It was odd to plan for a future when something would likely come to drag her off either tonight or the next, but Nesta was loathe to sit idle.
The dawn broke early. Blackbirds rustled in the tree outside, their song waking Nesta. She’d slept little, not through fear, but because she had been mentally cataloguing everything that needed to be done in the cabin. While porridge cooked on the stove, she swept the singular room and removed the cobwebs. The bed was stripped. She lugged a bucket of water from the stream and heated it to wash the sheets in. Without a line, she hung them from a tree to dry.
Time passed quickly; when she prepared dinner – more food than she’d ever had the luxury of eating in the past – she saved the seeds to plant in the soil she had tilled earlier. All those hours listening to Elain prattle on about her beloved garden had a use after all she supposed.
When night fell for the second time, Nesta lay on the clean bed only in her chemise reading a book. Animals scurried by outside, an owl hooted as it swept through the air, but no monster came to take her away. Nothing rattled the door or coaxed her from the cabin. So, when Nesta had read enough, she returned the book to the shelf and stretched out in bed, content to be alone.
Days passed. Every week, Nesta left out her basket and it would be replenished with food from the village. They were likely wondering – just as she was – how she still drew breath. Perhaps Nesta’s temper was even too much for a monster. She missed her sisters, sometimes, but mostly she was content to potter around at her own leisure. Daringly, she had asked for material and sewing supplies one week and they had arrived with the next week’s basket of supplies. Heavens forbid they upset the chosen one.
Autumn bled into the beginnings of winter. The food came less frequently now. Once, there had been a note ordering her to stop doing whatever it was she was doing to drive the creature away. In all the nights spent cloistered away in the woods, Nesta had not seen nor heard any signs of something sinister. Once, there had been a fox screaming but she chased after it with a broom and it soon kept away. Perhaps the other maidens had simply gone mad with boredom or loneliness. All Nesta knew was that she was alive still and keeping herself busy by sewing and writing. Her house was always tidy.
What she did lack, however, was an axe. When she had requested one from the village, she was informed that weapons were not allowed. She gathered fallen branches and snapped them into pieces, but the thicker ones were too strong for her. Much of the wood was damp and her stores ran low with the encroaching winter. She had been rationing her supplies with the anticipation of the colder weather, choosing to save the long-lasting ingredients for winter.
A thump woke her. The sheer force of it made the whole roof tremble. For a moment, Nesta thought a tree had fallen and braced her hands over her head for the roof to collapse.
In the distance, there were shouts. A low rumbling of men’s voices laced with the snarls of dogs. Could it be the monster had finally come? Or perhaps it had been, found Nesta lacking, and was approaching the village for a new maiden. But what was the thump?
Her heart beat quicker than usual as she gripped the carving knife and exited the cabin. The voices came from the south, from the mortal lands. Hesitantly, Nesta held her lamp out and began to search the perimeter of the cabin in only her boots, her cloak, and her night gown. Her rigorous modesty had faded with only herself for company.
There, hunched over on a side, was a man. Not a monster at all. A dim red light pooled from spots on his clothing. It was a strange sort of leathery skin.
‘Are you hurt?’
There was no response. She edged closer then recoiled with horror at the sight of his wings. Fae. Not a man. A male.
And the humans hunted him. Three large, ash arrows had shredded through his body.
Stories of the fae were ones used to scare children, she always believed. Still, she had always worn her iron bracelet. She’d expected him to look more other. Pointed teeth or black eyes or mottled skin. He was handsome in a rough sort of way. Ebony hair spilled over his face. Nesta held her hand close to his mouth and could feel he was breathing, slowly but detectable. She ought to have left him there. Ought to have gone back inside, pulled the covers up to her chin and forgotten about him. But she could not. She was transfixed by this fae male. By the beautiful, broken wings draped across the undergrowth.
The humans came closer. Not knowing why she did it, Nesta threw her cloak over the male’s clothing, blocking out the red glow. His eyes opened groggily. She pressed a finger to his lips. His hand gripped hers, keeping her finger on the soft skin of his lips. His own hand was warm, rough with callouses but still gentle.
The dogs would scent him, she realised with horror.
‘Stay,’ she whispered, not knowing if he could understand her tongue.
She strode forwards, holding her lamp aloft, meeting the humans near the ring of trees that surrounded the cabin.
‘Do you mind not waking me up in the middle of the night? It’s terribly rude.’
‘Move aside. There’s a fae in the woods.’
‘Maybe it is my beloved, here to drag me to Prythian.’
The male closest to her shifted slightly. The dog he was holding by a leash, pulled and whined.
‘It’s injured in these woods somewhere.’
‘You will ruin our land,’ she warned. ‘If there is a fae here, he has come to claim me. Your intervention will spell twenty years of bad luck on our people. Leave.’
They stared at her with a wary curiosity. Most women, she supposed, might have begged to be taken back to safety rather than usher in their demise. The threat of cursing the village had worked though. Although the dogs still tugged forwards, the men relinquished their pursuit.
‘He’ll die anyway,’ one said as they turned. ‘Tomas hit him twice, Ivorn a third time.’
Nesta waited until their footsteps died down before she approached the male. He’d sat upright, wincing slightly. One of the arrows had lodged itself in his shoulder after ripping through his wings, two more pierced the membrane.
‘Are you here to kill me?’
‘It wasn’t in my plans for the night, sweetheart.’ With a groan, he hauled himself to his feet. ‘You’re the one with the knife pointed at me. What are you doing out here in the woods at night?’
‘Witchcraft.’
The male cocked an eyebrow at her. ‘What are you really doing?’
‘Summoning a demon. And look, he hit my roof and woke me up.’
He rested a palm against the wooden cabin to steady himself. Each breath seemed to lance pain up his broad body.
‘You can’t fly,’ she realised.
He grimaced. ‘Not with these arrows in me.’ He reached around as if trying to snap one, but yelped with pain. ‘They’re ash. Typical mortals. You’ve always been savage creatures.’
The snarl in his voice did not scare her, even as the deep reverberations shook the ground.
‘I didn’t shoot you,’ she protested. ‘I’m the one stood in my nightgown while you wear my cloak protecting you. I’m waiting in this godforsaken cabin for one of your kind to kill me.’
That snapped him out of his rage. He glanced down at the grey cloak covering his glowing stones. He’d draped it over her shoulders before she could argue with him. His hand lingered around her upper arm, the warmth seeping through to her goosebump covered skin.
‘You should go inside. It’s too cold for you out here.’
His head bowed towards hers and Nesta realised exactly how tall this fae male was. His body caged hers against the cabin wall.
‘Do you want me to remove those arrows?’ Why was her voice so breathless? Why was her pulse hammering with thrill when it should have been quaking with fear?
‘Your husband won’t mind if you bring a handsome male home?’
‘Where is this handsome male you speak of? Will you introduce us?’
The fae tipped back his head in low laughter than sent a ripple of pleasure down Nesta’s spine. His hand gripped hers, inspecting the fingers and finding them absent of a wedding ring. She should have drawn her hand away. Shouldn’t have let him look at her with such an aching hunger.
‘Follow me.’

Breed Me
Happy Valentine's Day!
A little one shot of pure smuttiness for all of you to enjoy today. Also, blame @tswaney17 for this! She sent me a video in IG of a pink cookie being decorated with the words 'Breed Me'. She said 'Elriel'. I said 'I have to write this'. So here you are.
This is an Elriel and Nessian smut
(Generally speaking a bonus set in the world of A Match Baked In Heave, but is a standalone)
Tumblr media
Fuck.
Fuck.
Fuckety fuck fuck.
She knew it. She just knew it. She knew that she’d forget. And she did. She even forgot to set the reminder not to forget.
Valentine’s Day.
Their first Valentine’s Day together.
The only excuse she managed to come up with was that they’ve been together for almost a year now. They began properly dating right around the last V Day, and therefore, it’s been some time and Nesta was allowed to forget. Or so she told herself. But she was the worst girlfriend ever. She didn’t even have a card for him!
The problem was that Nesta Archeron, barrister extraordinaire, successful, beautiful, admired, and well-put together always, did not possess a romantic bone in her body. Romance just wasn’t how she operated. Nesta liked to go to Michelin starred restaurants, she enjoyed good wines, she adored interesting trips, and she got emotional when walking down the streets of Florence overwhelmed by the sheer beauty and history of the place. But romantic, she was not. At least, not in the sense that people came to expect someone to express their romantic side–chocolates, flowers, jewellery, horrid chocolate lava cakes and even more terrifying public marriage proposals with the ring being dropped to the bottom of a champagne flute. If her boyfriend Cassian ever did that to her, she’d break up with him. Though that wasn’t exactly his style–he’d probably propose on a mountain peak, or looking out at some terrifying squall, or, if she were lucky, at night, on the streets of Florence, when no one was looking and it was the two of them.
But, enough about proposals and romantic gestures.
She’d leave that to her sister Elain. Her other sister, Feyre, had an even less romantic attitude than Nesta, if that was even possible. Feyre was hopeless in the romance department. Good thing her husband Rhysand was romantic enough for the two of them, and then some. If Rhys could gift Feyre the Moon on a string, he would.
That left Elain. The only one who was a romantic at heart, and per Feyre ‘romantic on steroids’ who adored V Day and began prepping for it in advance, the way others prepared for Christmas.
Nesta never enquired about Elain’s Valentine’s Day plans, because she was frankly, a bit scared. Though the Archeron girls were all girls, and close in age, they weren’t the types to discuss their sex lives with each other. They weren’t the types to change clothes in front of one another, and Nesta couldn’t remember when she saw any of her sisters naked. That’s just how they were. And Nesta preferred to keep it that way.
But today, she was desperate. And she was close to Elain’s house.
Unannounced pop-ins weren’t a thing that the sisters did either, but Nesta was always close to Elain and now, she hoped that Elain wouldn’t mind it. Besides, it was only 2 pm. What could Elain possibly be doing?
Just in case, though, Nesta sent a warning text “I am in the neighbourhood. And need to stop by. Are you decent?”
The last part would’ve seemed like an overkill, but it wasn’t. Because Elain, and her husband Azriel, were known to get it on frequently and at any time of day or night. Nesta had to get her eyes bleached by now, considering how many times she either overheard them or walked in on them. Azriel was a damn exhibitionist, who loved semi-public sex, and what’s more, the man’s had some peculiar interests, which made being in their company a veritable minefield of strange sexual encounters. Elain…well, she was in love. She was love-drunk, dick-drunk, and sex-drunk most of the time.
Nesta hurried down the street, before rushing up the stairs, taking two steps at a time. True to Elain’s character, the white columns beneath the awning were decorated with pink, white and red roses. Love was in the air.
Nesta banged on the door and heard ‘it’s open!’
She entered the foyer, toed off her boots and almost ran to the open concept first floor kitchen and sitting room.
“Are you okay? What’s wrong?” her sister asked, worry etched on her pretty face.
Elain was wearing a pink dress with red flowers and a wide pink headband, which struggled to contain waves of her thick curls. The dress accentuated her growing stomach, which was just beginning to round and pop at 4.5 months. Of course, Elain made the prettiest pregnant woman in the world. Shiny hair, sparkling eyes, clear skin, a wide smile, gorgeous boobs, no weight gain other than in her stomach, and the most perfect pregnancy–no violent sickness, explosive vomiting, sickening cravings or swollen ankles for the middle Archeron sister.
“I am brilliant!” Nesta put on a fake smile. “Just need a few ideas,”
Elain eyed her with a disapproving look and then said,
“You forgot, didn’t you?”
“Ummm, forgot what?” Neta decided to play stupid.
“Don’t play stupid,” her sister snapped. “You forgot about Valentine’s Day and now Cassian doesn’t have a gift, does he?”
Nesta plopped on the stool by the marble bar and announced with pretend excitement,
“No. But that’s where you come in!”
“Oh, is that so?” rolled her eyes and then picked up a pastry bag, and curled over the counter. “Am I expected to get your boyfriend a Valentine’s Day gift?”
“No, no, no,” Nesta assured her breezily. “Nothing like that. Just…ideas. Give me some ideas. I will execute!”
Elain thought for a second, absorbed in whatever she was doing with that pastry bag, and then explained,
“Men don't care about presents. Not for this type of holiday,”
“They don’t?”
“No! Cass doesn’t want a box of chocolates!” she laughed. “He’d just have to work it out longer at the gym.”
“So then…?” Nesta’s voice trailed as her brows knitted in confusion.
“You are hopeless!” Elain sighed. “Romance. Seduction. That’s what he wants. Seduce him…”
“O-kay…As in?”
“I have to teach you how to seduce a man?” Elain demanded.
“I don’t need to seduce him. He is already seduced!”
“Expand your repertoire,” Elain all but ignored Nesta’s reasoning. “Do something you don't normally do,”
“What, whips and chains?”
“Why must you go that far? Unless you want to be chained and whipped?”
“No thanks.”
Nesta knew for a fact that that was more of an Elain and Azriel thing.
“Then what?” she asked again.
“What about sending him a sexy video?” Elain proposed.
“I am not sending nudes,” Nesta stated firmly. “If that ever gets out,”
“You think he is going to share your nudes?”
“Phones get hacked. Next idea?”
Elain sighed and then leaned back against the fridge, and crossed her arms on her chest.
“Have you tried introducing some whipped cream? Strawberries?”
“I don’t like mixing sex with food,” Nesta told her.
“Oh god. Well, what do you like?”
“My choices are nudes or rolling around in greasy sheets?” Nesta demanded crossly.
“Play a game,”
“What kind of game?”
“Like a sex game. You tell him one of your desires, and he tells you one of his, and you both do it,” Elain proposed.
Nesta chewed on her lips, thinking about it. It wasn’t a terrible idea.
“What else?”
“Try having sex in an unusual place,” Elain suggested. “Not in bed or a shower. But somewhere you don’t usually do it in,”
“Hmmm. Okay.”
This was giving Nesta ideas.
“We have a book,” Elain began but Nesta shook her head,
“No. Please no. I don’t want real-life examples from your sex escapades!!!”
“All I wanted to say,” Elain pouted, “was that if you have a sexy book or a magazine, you can open it to a random page and act out whatever is there…”
“Oh. Hmmm. That’s not bad. You’ve done that?”
“You just said no real-life examples!” Elain reminded her dryly.
“Yeah, true.”
Giving her a meaningful look of pure judgement, Elain added, “wouldn’t hurt if you dressed in something other than your smart clothes and your suits.”
“Lingerie?”
“It’s been known to help.”
In the next moment, Nesta exclaimed, “Oh my god, what is that!?!? Elain?!”
Elain glanced at the MASSIVE bouquet of pale pastel flowers that Azriel had given her earlier today. It wasn’t unusual that Azriel would give her flowers, so she didn’t quite understand Nesta’s reaction.
But Nesta was staring, wild-eyed, at what Elain was doing, and she saw a whole array of sugar biscuits, which were already shiny with icing, and upon which Elain was writing.
Writing such as:
Lick Me
I Lick You
Butt Play
Toys
Anal
Reverse Cowgirl
Pearl Necklace
Blindfold
Breed Me
Outside
Car BJ
69
And many others, which Nesta couldn’t even make out.
“What the hell is this?!” she cried out.
Elain began to scramble pathetically, trying to turn the biscuits over, but it was too late. Nesta’s seen enough.
“Elain! What the heck are you two up to?”
“Okay, whatever,” Elain was redder than the icing on the bakes. “It’s a game, okay? We are going to play a game too!”
“What kind of game is this?!”
“I think it’s obvious,” Elain hissed.
“Not really…”
“My god,” she rolled her eyes and threw her head back dramatically. “It’s a very simple game, Nesta. There is a platter of biscuits–you select one or two, and read what it says. Then you do it.”
Nesta’s eyes bugged out,
“So you are going to do anal?!?! Or a car BJ!?”
“I don’t know!!!!!!!!!!!” Elain screeched, all flustered and red. “Maybe! Maybe we’ll do anal,”
“You are pregnant,”
“You can have anal when you are pregnant. Also, I am not discussing this with you anymore. I’ve given you ideas. That’s it!” she stomped her foot.
Before the conversation could escalate even further and end up in a potential screaming match, the front door opened and Azriel’s deep, highly masculine and unabashedly sexual voice announced,
“Two jacket potatoes, coming up. Baby, I hope you are naked, because I am fucking gearing up to eat your pussy like a bulldog eats cereal.
“Also, they made me run three sprints today–though I told him that I am an old man with a wonky knee–but per your request, I am still sweaty. So have your way with me, lick it up.”
Nesta made a gagging noise deep inside her chest.
“We are not alone!” Elain screamed frantically.
“Who are we with? The dogs don’t count.”
Elain and Azriel had four dogs. The oldest, who was Elain’s originally, and then he had three sons–Benny, Churchy and John Boy–whom Elain and Azriel also kept. So, the dad and the three sons ran around together, and caused mischief and were four of the cutest dog potatoes ever.
When Azriel stepped inside, holding–by the looks of it–Churchy and Benny in each arm, both of them were dressed in red sweaters, it dawned on Nesta what he meant by ‘jacket potatoes’. Because it was kind of unbelievable that Elain and Azriel would dine on jacket potatoes for Valentine’s Day. Nevermind that Azriel was planning on dining on something else entirely.
“Oh, Nesta,” he muttered, without an ounce of excitement.
“Don’t worry, I am just leaving,” she got up from her seat, scowling. “I don’t need to be hearing about all your perversions,”
“Perversions?” Azriel smirked. “Judgey much?”
Elain was still squirming from embarrassment, but Azriel didn’t seem to care that his sister-in-law became privy to some seriously serious sex talk.
“The boys are knackered,” he announced, dumping the two pugs into their beds. They didn’t even wake up. Both were outfitted with heart-shaped headbands, and red jumpers with white hearts.
“Nesta, something you need?” he asked, “or,”
“Definitely not! The last thing I need to see is my sister licking your sweat or whatever the fuck you implied she was going to do to you.”
He laughed, while Elain buried her face in her hands.
Azriel was abnormally handsome–in a way that was almost unnatural, and his handsomeness allowed him to get away with a lot of nonsense.
“Let me guess, you forgot it was V Day and didn’t get my brother anything,” he suggested, stepping behind Elain and wrapping his arms around her.
“Ha! Not even close!” Nesta lied.
“All right then.” Azriel clearly didn’t believe her. “Then off you go, ice princess. I need to fuck my wife.”
“Az!” Elain moaned helplessly, while Azriel turned her around and cupped her face in his hands.
“What?” he smiled, while his tongue traced a line against her lips. “Let’s make Nessie so uncomfortable, she’ll run out screaming!”
“Already there,” Nesta hissed.
With Elain’s back to her and Azriel occupied with the kiss, Nesta quickly swiped a bunch of biscuits from the counter and dropped them in her bag. She can play the game too!
“Bye, you degenerates!” she cried out, and ran out, hearing Elain’s soft ‘byeeee’ on the way out.
-
Nesta and Cassian
“Happy Valentine’s Day, handsome,” Nesta cooed. “Do you want to play a game?”
“Any game you want, sweetheart,” Cassian offered, his voice thick and husky, “I’ll even lose, if you’d like me to,” he promised. His normally bright hazel eyes were dark and satiny, glistening with want and lascivious desire, as they skimmed over Nesta’s stunning lushness, presented to him in all its glory.
She greeted him in their kitchen, when he stomped inside like a big bear, dripping with February rain. He sure didn’t expect to find her there–wrapped up like the perfect candy box of Valentine’s chocolates for him to unwrap. Truthfully, he thought that she’d forgotten about it today–this holiday wasn’t her jam. But, oh how wrong he was.
Nesta was splayed on the white quartz countertop, dressed in nothing but blood-red silky lingerie, which left absolutely nothing to the imagination. The panties were little more than a piece of tissue paper, covering literally nothing, and the bra, which was tasked with containing Nesta’s lavish cleavage, was hardly anything more.
The bra was held together by an innocent looking rose, which nestled at the juncture of her soft, plush tits. While the same rose was attached to the top of the panties, just below her belly button.
“Well, that won’t be necessary,” Nesta assured him breezily, slowly, but intentionally crossing one long leg over the other. To complete the festive look, she wore gravity-defying red Louboutin heels. “I think we can both be winners in this game.”
She slowly walked her manicured fingers down the countertop, to an assortment of heart-shaped biscuits which were laid out in a…heart shape.
Cassian was a bit shocked. Not just from watching the gorgeous body and the spectacular set that she was wearing, but also from all this wild Valentine-ism that she went out of her way to do. He wasn’t expecting it. This was more of an Elain thing to do.
But he’d lost his ability to speak anyway, so it was a moot point. He was trying to wrap his mind around everything that he was seeing. There were only harsh, primal sounds coming from his gut. Very caveman-like.
“Pick a biscuit,” Nesta offered, tapping her finger next to each one.
Cassian shucked off his sodden jacket and his brogues, tossing his suit coat on the floor, uncaring. Slowly, like a lion stalking a lioness in the wild, he approached Nesta, trying to appear unaffected.
“What do we have here?” he finally managed to ask, licking his lower lip slowly. Nesta tracked the movement and shifted her body, so that her breasts almost spilled out of the flimsy bra cups, her nipples straining against the transparent lace.
“A gift for you,” she offered, batting her lashes at him.
“And what will it say?” he pondered, slowly untying the topknot of his long, black hair.
“I don’t know,” she admitted innocently. “But whatever you pick, you get to do to me…How does that sound?”
“Sounds like I am up to the challenge,” he promised, watching her bite her lower lip.
His cock stirred within his trousers, while he watched her full lips glisten with a smear of bright red gloss. What a trail it would leave on his cock. The thought alone made him harder.
Absently, he picked up one of the biscuits and then turned it, to see the message.
“Hmmm,” he hummed, cocking his brow.
Nesta craned her neck to sneak a peek, but he tsked and shook his head.
“No, no, Miss Archeron, a deal is a deal. Whatever it says, I will do.”
“But what does it say?”
“Something very interesting, and something I am very in the mood to do,” he told her and then slipped the biscuit in his back pocket.
She pouted, but it didn’t last long, because Cassian leaned over her and kissed her. Grasping her slim wrist in his huge hand, he brought it firmly to the swell of his cock.
“Must have been an interesting message,” she murmured into his mouth, but he wrapped his lips over her soft, pouty mouth and pried the sticky red lips apart with his tongue. Her thin fingers groped his dick firmly, just like he liked it, and a satisfied moan slipped from his lips, landing on Nesta’s tongue. She still sprawled on the counter, but despite the awkward position, Cassian put his big, warm hands on her thighs, travelling slowly over her soft skin toward the gossamer coverage of her panties, until his thumbs traced the warm wet slit beneath the material.
Nesta moaned into his cheek, biting the skin on his jaw, as she squeezed his shaft harder, working it over with her expert hand. She smelled incredible, her expensive Chanel perfume tickling his nose, as he inhaled deeply, while thrusting his palms under her ass cheeks and palming her hard. He caressed her tongue with his, opening her further up to his kiss, kneading the soft bare skin of her behind. She breathed hotly into his mouth, letting go of his cock and winding her arms around his neck. The loss of her hand on his erection was tragic, but that also allowed Cassian to pull her to him, making her grand tits press into his chest and the warmth of her pussy into his dick. She rubbed against him impatiently, murmuring ‘sorry for ruining your trousers’ to which he replied, ‘feel free to ruin all of me, sweetheart’.
She nodded, her long leg wrapping around his calves and pulling him even closer. The lips of her pussy stretched around the base of his erection, and she ground on him firmly and confidently.
“What’s my present for V day?” she teased, stroking his long hair and the back of his neck.
“Also a fun game,” he said, dragging his tongue over her mouth, kissing her lazily and with obscene sort of tenderness, indulging in her scent and her taste.
“What is it?” she asked.
“A version of whack-a-mole.”
“Are you the mole?” she queried.
“I am the whacker and the mole,” Cassian told her confidently.
-
Azriel and Elain
“Where was I?” Azriel murmured, watching Elain’s arched body in front of him. “Oh yes,” he remembered, “spreading your legs…”
He was behind her, his scarred palm rough on her hip, as he parted her thighs further. She was panting loudly, and he smiled, caressing her hair lovingly, “my little pillow-biter”.
“Mmm,” was all Elain managed, while the head of his hot, heavy, hefty cock prodded at her entrance, but he didn’t push inside. Instead, his hand slipped under her and stroked her round belly, while he whispered, “he good?”
She nodded yes. “He is good.”
“Ask for my cock, wife,” he then ordered.
She wiggled her round ass against his groin, the underside of his hard cock landing between her butt cheeks, but didn’t do as he asked.
He tsked and then slapped the heavy pole over her folds, making her gasp and clutch the sheets harder in her hands.
“Be a good girl, and ask,” he encouraged her, but she shook her head, stifling another moan when he smacked his cock over her pussy.
“Oh god,” was all she managed, because while it hurt, it also felt so good.
“I am waiting,” he sang, gripping her breasts in his hands and painfully twisting her nipples.
“Mmm–nooo,” she argued like a brat, shaking her head stubbornly.
Azriel sighed and contemplated for a moment, as he casually fondled her tits, half-seated on her hips.
“Last chance, beautiful. Ask for my dick,” he told her.
She shook her head and remained silent.
The thrill of punishment made her even hornier, as she didn’t know what he was going to do.
Flipping her over on her back, he kneeled on one knee over her and cupped his balls in his hand, lazily stroking his shaft. When she made to touch it, he said, “nope. You didn't ask for my cock like a good wife should. Now you are not getting it until I am ready to give it to you,”
He traced his lips with his thumb, while still rubbing his shaft, smearing precum over it, before sliding down and straddling her chest. Gathering her heavy breasts in his hands, he then spit on his dick and firmly pushed her breasts together. “Get ready, sweetness,” he warned, before thrusting his thick cock inside her cleavage. “Now, you are going to take my cock like my good girl, swallow nice and deep, while I fuck your pretty titites,” he instructed, pumping slowly between her breasts. “Tongue out,” he ordered, and Elain stuck her tongue out for him. The smooth head of his cock immediately landed on it, and she burrowed the tip into the sexy little slit, licking on it, tasting him. “That’s a good girl,” he approved, smiling down at her, as he quickly fluffed a pillow behind her head, so that the angle was just right. He squeezed her breasts even harder, and she gasped, especially when he tweaked her nipples, but he didn’t stop thrusting steadily, his movements precise and firm, so that the head of his cock remained inside her mouth for her to lick and suck on.
“Eye contact at all times, my love,” he reminded her, smiling at her, before pushing deeper in her mouth. Elain watched him obediently, her mouth full of him, her lips stretched around the thickness of the shaft, as she panted loudly around him. He jiggled her tits playfully, keeping them wrapped around his base and his balls. “Now you’ll have my cock in your mouth for as long as I want, naughty girl,” he pinched her nipples, “start sucking, baby.”
Elain submitted, immobilised beneath his weight, sucking scrupulously and hard, as she watched him like he wanted.
She wanted to be here too, in this place, in his position. She enjoyed being dominated, and Azriel dominated her well. She didn’t crave pain, though when he spanked her, or choked her, or slapped her with his dick, she loved it, but she needed to submit to his desires. She loved taking his cock any way he told her to, loved to serve him in bed, loved to give up control.
So she sucked sloppily, while he pumped her tits and worked his heavy balls up and down her chest.
“Is that good, pretty girl?” he asked.
She nodded, gasping for breath when he pushed his cock deeper. He didn’t stop, and pressed further, whispering “choke on it, beautiful. Come on!”
She sputtered and choked, her eyes pleading with him silently, as tears ran down her cheeks, but he shook his head.
“No. Swallow. And choke,” he ordered. “Open up. Wider,” and as she did, he plunged further, into her already trained throat.
After they got married, for three months all she did was suck his cock multiple times a day, learning how to train her gag reflex, learning how to truly suck dick, falling in love with it.
He released her tits from his grip, and she noticed the blossoming of bruises on her skin, while he propped himself on his arms, before starting  to fuck her mouth greedily and obscenely.
Elain relaxed under the onslaught of his expertly delivered thrusting in her mouth and while he still choked her, she was also enjoying herself. She loved her husband more than it was rational or describable. Azriel fulfilled every dream, every hope, every desire, every need that she had.
Elian hummed against the hard, hot pole in her mouth, which made Azriel feel drunk, particularly when the sound reverberated in her throat, tickling the head of his shaft. He lovingly brushed his thumb over her cheek, watching her bob up and down and meeting every push of his shaft. The noises that she was making–sloppy, wet, explicit–were an erotic symphony in his ear. If he could listen to her gag on his dick for the rest of his life, he probably would.
“You are so good to me,” he whispered. “My Ellie. But, I promised you a gift.”
He eased his pounding of her mouth and resumed his spot on her chest, sliding his shaft back between her breasts. Her breathing eased and she put her hands on his firm, muscle-corded thighs, stroking him slowly, running her fingertips through the nest of pubes around his cock.
His balls tightened and this member twitched next to her sternum, while she squeezed his rock-hard ass cheeks in her hands, digging her nails into his skin. Just like her, he liked a bit of pain as well.
He pulled out of her mouth just in time for the warm jets of cum to land on her lips, her neck and her chest.
“Mmmm, more,” she finally moaned, licking the familiar salty outpouring from her lips, while he kept coming, until it was dripping down her chest. He scooped some with his fingers and let her lick them off the sperm.
“Beautiful girl,” he purred lovingly. “With a beautiful pearl necklace.”
She laughed and touched her neck. There, beneath the globs of cum, was her new pearl necklace, her Valentine’s gift and the present for her pregnancy.
Azriel collapsed on the bed next to her and then handed her a glass of water. She chugged it down gratefully and he took the biscuit from the nightstand. On it, in pretty script it was written ‘Pearl Necklace’.
Elain got up, amidst his protests and skipped to the bathroom, where she washed off her V Day gift and brushed her teeth.
Then, she quickly returned to bed and collapsed into the embrace of her husband.
“I love you, you know,” he said seriously, spooning her from behind.
“I do know that,” she smiled and kissed his hand. “And I love you. More than you’ll ever know.”
He kissed her shoulder gently and then arranged her against himself, before spreading her pussy with his fingers and nudging his already-hard dick inside. He thrust in slowly, filling her gradually and completely. She sighed contentedly.
“Are you hungry?” he worried.
She shook her head and made herself comfortable on his bicep.
“But I am happy.”
“I am happy if you are happy,” he said to her, and kissed her cheek.
Elain yawned.
Incredibly, of all the biscuits that she would have selected, she randomly chose ‘cock warming’--her very favourite thing to fall asleep with. It’s almost like she…cheated.

Nesta and Cassian
Nesta rolled her hips, seated on Cassian’s knees. Her own knees were tucked against his thighs, pressing tightly into him, holding him immobile.
“You look delicious, Nes,” he ground, his voice choked, as he ran his thick fingers through her long silky hair, though now it was tangled against her back.
Her pussy was dripping his shaft, each fold splayed prettily to accommodate his considerable girth and he couldn't get enough of the sight. Especially with the red of her panties pulled aside haphazardly, reminding Cassian of how impatient she was with him.
A lock of hair bounced over her round breasts, still covered by the bra cup, but it didn’t stop him from putting his mouth over her puckering nipple and biting.
“Fuck me, Cassian,” she grunted through gritted teeth, holding onto the back of his neck. She ground down on him, taking him inside her gorgeous body wholly, tempting tits swaying freely next to his face. He bit her nipple again, sucking on it through the material, and her head fell forward, pressing into his forehead.
The wet, hot friction between them was almost unbearable, but Cassian held her firmly by the hips, fucking up into her and making her take all of him again and again. It was pure, glorious heaven.
“Gimmie a kiss, sweetheart,” he told her, as he fucked her with rough, deep strokes. This was his favourite Nesta–weakened and compliant, her lips pink and glossy, when he took her mouth in a messy, wet kiss. She keened into him, allowing him full control of her body, sucking on his tongue like he wanted her to–soft and sighing with pleasure. He rocked her steadily, his thrusts deep and punishing, as he caressed her arched back and the peachy cut of her ass. She took him breathlessly, her mouth forming an almost shocked ‘O’ every time he hit that perfect spot inside of her, angling her body just so and making her cry out loudly again and again.
“Cassian. Cassian. Cassian.”
Her head lolled to the side and she closed her eyes, her grip on his neck and shoulders easing, and he held her closer, allowing her to relax and know that he had her.
“Good fucking girl,” he murmured into her hair, pressing his thumbs into the divots above her ass. “Letting me fuck and breed this perfect pussy.”
At that, Nesta exploded. The squelching sounds of her dick pushing inside her became a staccato of explicit, sultry melody.
“GOD. Cassian. I love you,” she squealed, as he huffed and grunted with adoration at her words.
The walls of her pussy squeezed him tightly, holding him in an almost painful vise-like grip, as she climaxed all over him, melting into a loud, needy scream. She fell into his chest, pumped continuously and nestled her face into the crook of his neck, sucking on it with desperation.
Only then did Cassian let go of his iron self control and came inside of her, letting her milk every drop of his seed.
“Beautiful, Nes,” he babbled in her ear. “Take it all. Finally.”
This was perfection.
The way she gripped him and how her pussy pulsed all around his dick was incredible.
Nesta was severely allergic to any hormonal contraceptives, and non-hormonal IUD didn’t work for her, causing constant bleeding and extreme discomfort. So they practised the ‘natural method’ and he never came inside of her. Until tonight. Finally. It was amaz-
“Cassian!!!” she cried out. “What the hell?!? What did you do?!”
She pushed against his chest and stared at him with a horrified expression.
“What did I do?” he exclaimed, alarmed.
He was in fact, still orgasming inside of her.
“What?!” he repeated.
“You came!” she accused him pointlessly.
“Well, yes,” his brow furrowed.
“Inside!” she stated the obvious, like he wasn’t aware.
“Well, yeah. You wanted me to!” he reminded her, as he kissed her lips.
“What? When did I want you to?”
“Nesta,” he sighed. “I know you are blissed out, baby, but you asked me to,”
“Asked you what?!”
“To come inside of you. Calm down, sweetheart.”
“What are you talking about?” she demanded.
“Stop freaking out. It’s going to be okay.”
“When did I ask you?!” she repeated again.
“The cookie.”
“What cookie?!?!” she screamed.
“The biscuit. That you told me to choose.”
“What about it??!!!” she wiped her face.
“It said Breed Me.”
She stared at him helplessly, mouth open.
Cassian kissed her again and pumped into her deeper, making everything seem inevitable.
“So I bred you,” he shrugged, looking proud of himself.
