The "final" version of my Inanimate Objects project!

Regarding the masking, due to the lighting changing in almost every background because of the rigs and the objects, Jon advised I mask in the objects themselves, instead of ,masking out the rigs, so that I could use one background and just impose the objects onto it, instead of having to put up with the background constantly shifting.  It worked really well for the cards at the end, but the rigs were a lot easier to rig out due to the empty background, which in turn was much simpler to find a clear still of, beings as it was an almost-clear slate.  I decided to leave the middle jump unmasked, because I was unsure of how long it would take and was conscious of finished the Motion Graphics project, for which I had more work to complete.  However, if I manage to get on top of work and still have some spare time before deadline, I’ll start trying to mask out the jump-rigs, though finding a suitable blank background shot may be difficult due to the amount of re-shoots I had to take and the several shadow-changes as the jump goes on, making the shadows pretty difficult to mask in.

For the music, I wanted to try and get something like a Western stand-off: the track I found wasn’t quite it, but I think it works!  It kind of jumps around the collision, before going into the ambient ring into the end, and it’s almost on the same level and the sound effects; I couldn’t quite figure out how to reduce the individual tracks on Audition/After Effects as I was putting the composition together, but I think I’m going to go back and, if not before the deadline, definitely afterwards, and re-edit all the sound to make sure the levels are just right.

I’m pretty proud of the opening titles - I ended up using the karate-like shout for the title transition beings-as I couldn’t find one to match against the King Card in the actual animation - It fits pretty well, I think! 

The animation is quite a bit longer than 10 seconds, though: with the title sequences, it’s around 18 seconds long! I’ve asked a few people and they’ve said that it should be alright, and the animation itself is only about 11/12 seconds, so not too far over the limit!  I’ll still see if I can’t trim it some more, though!

Now cause I’m basically sitting in the middle of mock week, I’m gonna have a little ramble of @sketchygabz and @nessietessimal pirate/treasure planet au. You know, as a treat

I’m also gonna come completely clean with you lot. I’ve never seen treasure planet in my life. Soooo-pirate time-

- The army squad are a former navy crew turned pirates after what I can only describe as a terrible accident-(aka, the navy shot at them and they went COWABUNGA IT IS-) so they’re pirates with a fearsome reputation now

- basically they went captain nemo from 20 thousand leagues under the sea who am I kidding-

- Before they went COWABUNGA IT IS, their ship was known as one of the most intimidating ones out of the fleet. A basically grey, armour plated ship with the black icon of a snarling bear on its side.

- Basically, you didn’t screw with them if you had a choice in the matter

- However, Jakob and Diana were a lenient first mate and captain (yes Diana is the captain). They ran the ship fairly and made sure everyone was okay

- This didn’t change when they switched into being pirates, all of the crew agreed with them and also agreed to switch to becoming pirates (which gave them more freedom)

- Originally the plan was to go after more tougher-ruthless pirates. And the navy ship which attempted to take them out the water

- That changed when they heard that their kids (Kaen, Zak and their daughter Zophia) were apparently caught in another terrible accident and had gone missing

- Oh boi

- That was the last straw

- Basically, the crew of the Ursa have now spent the better part of their time destroying navy vessels in revenge of their lost kids. While also trying their damnest to find the rest of them.

- You know, parent things-

Crew composition:

- Diana, the captain of the Ursa. A fair and calm lady, unless you’ve angered her. Also a crack shot with basically any fire arm.

- Jakob, quarter master. He is still romantically involved with Diana and is a big man with a lot of muscle. Basically, if you’re gonna get to the captain-gotta get through him first

- Nikolai, the crew’s carpenter and blacksmith. He’s the one in charge of making stuff and maintaining the ship. He’s a bit stern, but he’ll quickly warm up

- Elias, the crew’s surgeon. He’s patching everyone up before shoving them back out there to get stuff done. Has his own personal brand of rum that no one is too sure what’s in it. Except his twin sister Eevi.

- Eevi, the crew’s master gunner and relentless ball of energy. She’s all up for a bit of jokes and gambling on board, as long as no one gets butt sore about it. She stops Elias from drinking the entire rum supply.

- Antoni, group’s boatswain. Cocky, brave and willing to do the impossible to get stuff done. Lost his right hand in the terrible accident, but he got a replacement

The Welders Journal Guardian Angels

Woke up in the hideout. Half my body feeling as if it was trying to kill me. Had some bandages around my arm and leg and could see that there were bruises. Probably from the ambush. Doesn’t hurt too bad.

Stumbled out of the room and saw two people I didn’t recognise talking to Piotrek. Or more like Piotrek was talking to them (about space of course). They couldn’t get a word in edgewise. Asked who they were while I leaned against the doorway.

One calls herself the Courier. Couldn’t see her face well due to the bandages and her hat but she seemed trustworthy enough. Said she found me lying somewhere in the forest and that the other one carried me over here.

The other one was almost twice my size and half a head taller. Said his name was Kaen. Don’t know how he can be this cheerful in the woods. He told me to eat more since I was way too easy to carry. Though I don’t suppose anything would be difficult for him to carry.

Piotrek and me cooked some food for them and told them that if they need a place to hunker down during the night, they are more than welcome here. Spend the rest of the day in bed half awake and half sleeping. Will look for a few rocket parts in a couple of days.

The Courier belongs to @sketchygabz and Kaen belongs to @nessietessimal.
