‘Everything in her life, from the moment she was born, had been controlled by other people. Things happened to her; anytime she tried to exert control, she’d been thwarted at every turn—and she hated that even more than the King of Hybern.’
so sjm is gonna write this paragraph. and then have nesta end up in an environment where her life is under constant control. end up around people who do nothing but control her. end up with a man who feels more than comfortable controlling her.
she doesn’t have a job. she doesn’t get paid. sjm never gave her financial independence even though i (personally) believe it’s one of the MOST important things nesta needed in her life. she’s been controlled through finances her entire life. she’s depended on others for finances her entire life. you’re telling me she’s just okay with depending on c*ssian for it now? i just don’t understand how silver flames was a book dedicated to healing and nesta finding herself. i really don’t.
she can’t even leave her house easily? she needs to either ask someone to get her out or TAKE 10,000 STEPS! how does nesta not despise living there. how does she not despise having her weapons taken from her and controlled by others. how does she not despise waking up every morning to train just because c*ssian told her to! when she was literally threatened into it!
how are you supposed to take nesta’s ‘healing arc’ seriously when she’s ended up in a position that old her would’ve despised. every time i reread this nightmare i find more quotes that make no sense even being in the book when you know how it ends and it makes me just as mad as i was when this book was released.

Hello everyone, starting the year 2024 with another commission 💕
This beautiful art has been in my dreams for a long time and I am immensely grateful to @anamenezes_art (Instagram) for making exactly as I imagined.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I thought of this scene as if it were Nesta and Cassian's first morning after the Mating Ceremony at the River House. Feyre woke up and was passing by Nesta and Cassian's room and saw through the crack in the door that Nyx had crawled into the middle of their bed. This art gives me love, affection and family, which was everything I felt at the end of ACOSF.
I still have lots of ideas and I hope you like them!!

Nesta and Parentification
Nesta was not the parent of Feyre. She didn't "let" her youngest sister go out to hunt. That was their father who sat back and quite literally did nothing when their fortune ran out and he had young children he should have provided for.
She also didn't have to "step up" and take their fathers place on providing for and caring for her younger siblings. And before people come at, neither did Feyre, but she's the one who chose to do so because of her mother's promise.
People forget Nesta was still a teenager when Feyre started hunting, not a full grown adult. Nesta also did what she could to help Feyre during those times. She sent letters out, performed domestic tasks like chopping the wood, and was willing to sell her body to find a husband just so Feyre had one less mouth to feed.
And if you want to hold Nesta accountable for Feyre going out to hunt, and not stepping up, you better hold the same stance for Elain since she's older than Feyre to.

always insane to me how everyone is jumping to blame Nesta for her families poverty instead of their father?????? this happens the entire series and then when Papa Archeron shows up last minute for the finale battle everyone is just like “🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹” expect* for Nesta who can only remember how he actually never really cared for her and how she is the one who holds his mantel for not doing anything/providing for them. its okay though he gets a pass bc his knee! its shattered, expect it was miraculously healing before his sudden death! but that’s okay Nesta suffers and becomes violently depressed/traumatized by his death in which no one helps her progress through! it takes Cassian the entire book to finally realize the fire sounds like a snapping neck and that’s why she flinches around it. but he sure noticed her huge boobs on her sickly thin body!! absolute himbo frat boy chad of a man. guys on a serious note when are we going to stop holding Nesta accountable for their father’s actions? im getting sick of having this discussion.
also i find it hilarious Cassian sticks up for Feyre here when he literally does not care about her, if he did he would’ve done the same when Rhys told him to keep the wings secret. just like if he truly cared about Nesta he’d stick up for her, too. instead he insults her and sets himself up to look like a fool all in one go.

Nesta and Lucien humbling Feyre with less than 5 words
Feyre continued, “All you have done is help yourself to our money.”
“Your mate’s money.”
Not feeling very festive at all, I said sharply, 'That you now feel more comfortable with humans than with the High Fae. If you ask me—'
'I’m not.'
They a baddie they know they a ✨10✨

“Nesta could’ve just used the stairs”
Did you not read the fucking book. She tried multiple times to escape the house and she couldn’t make it hundred steps with falling and nearly killing herself. What don’t you understand about the fact that Nesta had been starving herself for almost a year. You think that she going to be able to just get up and go down ten thousand steps. She could barley walk after two hours of just stretching.

One of the weirdest phenomenons is people complaining about characters not being complicated enough, then proceeding to shit on every complex character so thoroughly that you make it hard for us folks who actually appreciate their complexity to enjoy the characters in peace.

he has a 25 year old gf that’s MORE MATURE than him
idk i would’ve loved to see wisdom and maturity in the bat boys at their grand old age, would’ve made them way more interesting to me

Elain telling Nesta “All you can think about is what my trauma has done to you” was incredibly ignorant and no one can convince me otherwise.
For some reason, Elain thinks the trauma that had resulted from that night belongs solely to her and Nesta is being selfish for trying to take any ownership of it.
Everything in Nesta’s life, has always been about Elain. She came first and she never stopped to think about how it could impact Nesta. Very rarely does Nesta have the time to face her own trauma and learn to heal from it because she was always in environments/situations that put her on guard to protect her sister. And Elain has always been comfortable allowing her to do so while she retreats to the background where it was safe. She has never thought twice about putting Nesta in these positions all her life.
When the sisters first come to Pythian, Elain completely checks out from the weight of the loss and trauma she has experienced. Which is completely understandable. But she isn’t the only one to have lost so much. So had Nesta. But at a time where Nesta may have needed her support, she wasn’t there.
All Elain could think about was what their shared trauma has done to her. But Nesta never cared.
Those first few weeks in Pythian? Nesta was there to check on her. To make sure she is eating. To ensure her wellbeing. To see to her needs. To make sure she is comfortable.
In ACOSF, for the first time in Nesta’s life, she isn’t capable of putting Elain first. But Elain is unwilling to confront the possibility that the trauma they both experienced that night may have affected her sister differently than it did her. As a result, she avoids putting herself in a position where she might have to face the full extent of that truth.
I’m not saying that Elain doesn’t have a right to feel greatly impacted by what had happened to her. She went through alot. But she doesn’t get to pick and choose whose trauma that night was greater and warrants more concern.

Hey everyone 🌸💕
For anyone who follows through my multiple rebirths on Tumblr 🤣🤣🤣 You guys know that I haven't been so active in the last few months, but this week I fulfilled a dream that I've had for a long time!!!
My first Commissioned Art!!! 🎉🥳🎊 Yay!!!
Tumblr media
It's made by @augusney_draw, follow him on Instagram and learn more about his work.
Now talking about my feelings with this piece... On ACOSF my favorite Nesssian moment was their scene on the Sleeping Mountains, it was my reaffirmation of why I love this couple so much. So I wanted to honor them with a sunrise 🌅scene of them in love in the lake.
I intend to make other arts from many ideas that I have been imagining for a long time 🤍🤍🤍 and I will make sure to post it here on Tumblr and on Instagram (when I have an account for my blog).
I hope you guys loved it as much as I did!!❤️‍🔥

I think a lot of people continuously overlook the GOOD Nesta did during the series and only focus on her "hateful attitude". Sometimes actions show more than words and Nesta is an action girly.
ACOTAR- She tried to protect Feyre in the market. She went after Feyre when Tamlin took her. She essentially told Feyre to go and save Tamlin and not to worry about them. She was ready to marry someone to help have one less mouth to feed for Feyre. She chopped wood for two days in a row.
Also, I think this quote is important from book 1 from Feyre about Nesta:
"I looked at my sister, really looked at her, at this woman who couldn't stomach the sycophants who now surrounded her, who had never spent a day in the forest but had gone into wolf territory.... Who had shrouded the loss of our mother, then our downfall, in icy rage and bitterness, because the anger had been a lifeline, the cruelty a release. But she HAD cared - beneath it, she had cared, and perhaps, loved more fiercely than I could comprehend, more deeply and loyally."
ACOMAF - She wasn't in here much but both her and Elain opened their home to Feyre and the IC for the war purposes when they were taught their whole life to be scared/fear the fae and ended up turned against their will for their efforts which is incredibly traumatic.
ACOWAR - Nesta helped with the Queens and the High Lords. She helped Feyre and the whole Raven attack thingy. She participated in the war and almost died trying to save Cassian and then beheaded Hybern. She then helped tend to the wounded and dieing. She really had no time to sort through her own trauma during this time either since she was looking after comatose Elain and in a place where she didn't want to be.
ACOFAS - We see her drowning in her trauma. She can't even take baths (which Feyre had said in ACOWAR she'd help with as she never thought about how the Cauldron affected them). She is invited to party with rent money held over her head (despite the fact she had a job as human emissary during the war so where is the money promised to her from accepting that job from Rhysand?) While there, Feyre remarks how uncomfortable Nesta is but doesn't both to wonder why, and come to find out fire bothers her because it reminds her of her father's neck snapping RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER. Cassian runs after her and even though she wants to be alone she's hounded and is seen as the bad guy for not taking his gift. A gift he proceeds to throw away, like a child, into the water because she didn't take it...At this point she just wanted to be left alone and they kept hounding her and not respecting boundaries she was putting up.
ACOSF - She is still drowning..she is forced into the HOW (feyre said she'd be tied and thrown there essentially so it wasn't really a choice) where she has to walk down 10,000 steps (which she physically/mentally/emotionally could not do so she was essentially a prisoner since no help was offered by feyre and Amren own words and let's not forget those same steps were used as punishment for Rhysand and the bat boys)..she starts training though and finds her own found family in Gwyn and Emerie. She helps the IC multiple times with things in ACOSF to and even saves Rhysand, Feyre, and Nyx very lives. She even says sorry to Feyre and Feyre doesn't hold anything against Nesta, not even telling her about the babies wings because at least she told her. We also find out she tried to write letters to others to help during their poverty times and her boots weren't as new as Feyre made then out to be showing Feyre as an unreliable/biased narrator.
All in all, I wouldn't say Nesta is an absolutely terrible horrible nasty person that is beyond redemption or forgiveness.
She is a woman who has been traumatized from a very young age starting with her mother/grandmother to being turned fae to PTSD from war/her father and doesn't know how to cope so she lashes out (which is a VALID TRAUMATIC RESPONSE) to push others away because she HATES herself more than anyone else does. She knew lashing out was wrong but didn't have the tools/upbringing to know healthy responses. It's really not until Gwyn and Emerie came along and showed her UNCONDITIONAL LOVE that she began to change and learn better and new healthy coping mechanism to let go of the bad ones.
Now, I'm not saying her trauma response was good or acceptable or excusable, but I do think she deserves some grace and compassion given all she's been through herself. Trauma is not a comparison game after all and we all experience and cope differently. Just like these characters.

okay so i'm not a fan of how nesta was locked up in the HoW basically
so i've been thinking of ways that would be better to help her
so:
1. i think the ic should help her get a job in velaris (or outside of it if that's what she'd prefer). one that would cover her bills and necessities - not alcohol. one that she would be responsible for, to make a living for herself- one to create her financial freedom.
maybe - if they wanted her to help at the library - that could be the job?
and if they can't trust her with just having cash, someone could hold it and give her access to it under supervision - only to ensure she doesn't buy alcohol
2. definitely not ruining the house she chose - letting her stay there under the condition of making it a bit more upgraded.
just simple things - fixing sinks, installing something to keep the place warm, getting a bed frame.
maybe overtime a talk about moving to a nicer place of her choice?
3. take her to counseling - something like the priestesses have at the library.
even if she doesn't speak at first. even if she's mean - giving her an outlet to express her feeling verbally.
4. if they need her to train or get to know her magic - let it be under certain conditions.
if she wants to do idk some prythian form of yoga - let her. she doesn't need to become a warrior if that's not what she desires - and if they need her to be able to protect herself then the required training should focus on self defence.
and exploring her own magic - it should be with a mentor of her choice - one that will put her well being first, not the possible future use of her abilities.
the ic shouldn't use her skills unless she agrees.
i am not sure what else but if someone has any ideas i'd be glad to read them!!
