I want to share with you guys what I've been into lately. Some of this Anime Series you can watch it on Netflix.
Anime GL that feed my gay ass today. They are wholesome and slice of life genre but more importantly this is ✨yuri✨.

2023 Media Thread - Part 120
Netsuzou Trap - NTR
I guess you get what you sign up for, but god there's very little to actually like her. Needlessly dramatic with a nearly endless melancholic tone. When one of the male characters, the only decent guy in the thing, ends up being the most reasonable and sympathetic character in a yuri story, you know something is fucked up.

Representing vs Modeling
Another frustrating scene where a girl is blaming herself for not understanding how her friend feels...
And like, I get that it's a realistic representation of how a girl's going to feel when she has that aha moment about her friend - especially one she's close with, so she won't want to place blame - but she kind of oughtta?
Because she misunderstood how her friend felt because her friend lied to her to her face about how she felt.
Like. She asked. And her friend lied.
The anime is NTR, by the way. Weird little series. 12 episodes but the whole thing is really short - There's only maybe 6 minutes of actual show per episode between the intro and outro.
On balance I'd call the lesbian rep a wash - the art style fetishizes them a bit but also treats the relationship as genuinely aspirational and something they both seem interested in pursuing long-term, not some phase that's "healthy for girls to try out and then move on from" as Japanese media sometimes depicts. And it doesn't treat M/F relationships as inherently wholesome, either. To some extent it's just generally the story of some troubled youths having a rough time while they figure some troubled-youth stuff out about themselves.
One point I'm confused about - maybe it's a cultural thing - but there's this dynamic in the show with girls A and B and guys C and D and they're all a friend group. B and D are dating and D is physically abusive. A knows C is an almost absurdly upstanding guy, and he has some pull with D since they're pals. I do not understand why, upon finding out, A would not tell C that D was physically abusive toward B. Does she think he wouldn't believe her? That D wouldn't give a shit if C disliked him? I dunno. Just seemed odd, considering how much they make of C being this paragon of virtue, that they don't talk to him about his pal being violent.

KNOCKOUTS: I Married My Best Friend to Shut My Parents Up (2018)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I Married My Best Friend to Shut My Parents Up is a one volume slice of life by Kodama Naoko about, funnily enough, a woman marrying her best friend to shut her parents up. It also includes the oneshot Anaerobic Love, about two girls on the track club.
Machi Morimoto is a girl who is expected to settle down, get married, and become a stay-at-home mother. Her parents nag her about finding a suitor but she is neither interested in nor understands love. In an attempt to stop her parents from controlling her life any more than they do, she marries her best friend Hana Agaya, who lost her job and needed a place to crash. Hana is into girls, and she's had a crush on Machi since high school. Machi though, has never experienced the tender feeling of loving or being loved, while Hana is charismatic and outgoing, always doing what she loves and having fun. As the short manga comes to a swift end, only time will tell if their fake marriage will allow true love to flourish or end up driving them apart. - MAL
ENG available through Seven Seas & JP available on ebook Japan.
CWs under the cut. General severity rating: mild.
suggestive scenes
homophobia <- from machi's parents
unhappy childhood <- not quite sure it's to an abusive degree, but machi's parents have always been strict with her.
misogyny <- machi's coworkers talk about how they should give her work to a man instead since she'll end up quitting for marriage and kids

people used to shit on Netsuzou TRap when it came out for being "creepy" and "lesbian yaoi" and excuse me? thats what makes it good
Tumblr media
this manga published from 2014-2017, which was YEARS after yuri doujin artists invented so called "lesbian yaoi." im not even sure why this series in particular had such a backlash when other manga like it had been in Yuri Comic Hime prior to this.
anyway its decent
