#neurodivergent Bruce makes me so happy
wakkoroni · 8 months
Note
I'm bored and procrastinating so i decided "Time to head to my local hc person!":
What are different ways the batfamily approach doing homework? (Tips, crack, angst, neurodivergent problems, anything's welcome)
As one does lmao, I shall join you in the procrastination. I love how I’m your local hc person- I’m just happy to make Headcanons. You see I misunderstood the ask at first so now I just random school related hcs in my notes so thanks for that lmao but here we go (also strap in because this one is a long one)
I’d like to add a disclaimer that THESE MAY NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE this is just my interpretation of how they would work
Batfam approached to homework
Young Bruce: He could not focus if he were alone in the room doing homework. He would read his Grey Ghost books instead of English homework. Alfred found out about this and made him sit in the kitchen while Alfred cooked; he did the homework. And with Alfred looking over his shoulder- he got that work done quick.
Especially if dinner were about to be served, Alfred would say, “you have 5 minutes,” and Bruce is speeding through his math worksheet. Nothing will get his work done quicker than someone being in the same room and having a time limit. He was speed. Flash had nothing on him lmao
So Bruce’s advice to get your work done: Have someone look over your shoulder (adds stress) and set a timer to finish your work
(A timer is really good if you work best under pressure because it lets you pace yourself, and with the time ticking down, it makes it kinda like a due date approaching)
Dick Grayson: He used the reward system and had to do his work in the same room as someone else. The person doesn’t even have to be paying attention to him. They just have to be there. If he were alone, he would zone out and get nothing done (he’s just me fr fr), so his common places to do work was the batcave, Bruce’s study, the kitchen, or somewhere in the yj cave.
As mentioned in the start, he uses the reward system. Or rather Bruce would use the reward system on him. Like for every worksheet/subject that got done he would get candy or get a 5 minute break to do whatever he wanted. (He usually spent the 5 minutes bothering Bruce or doing backflips and stretching) and it worked!
There were moments when he got restless and couldn’t stay still for very long, so Bruce bought some small fidget toys for him to fidget with while he did his work. But on like bad(?) days when Dick could not stay still or focus at all, he would go to the indoor gym they have and spend an hour getting all the restless energy out before sitting down and focusing on his work.
Dicks advice for homework: be in a public space or have people around and use a reward system. For every problem you complete you get a piece of candy or for every subject you finish take a break to relax. Also make sure to get all your energy out before trying to focus. Being restless and trying a focus is not a good mix.
Jason Todd: Look, I don’t know actually. He genuinely liked school and was pretty good at it. He worked great alone, he has to be alone too. If he’s with other people, he can’t focus because he’s busy tracking the other person's movements or trying to make conversation, so the silence isn’t so awkward. So, he would do his homework in his room. He would gobble up that work and do it so quickly so he could have the afternoon free to read his book of the week. (He loves his uninterrupted reading time)
There were times when he needed help and would cry over being unable to understand the work, so Bruce, Alfred, or even Dick would have to step in and help him. But that’s it- only help, and then they leave cause if they stay, he can’t focus. But he always made sure to get help and ask questions in class so he could understand the homework and do it.
(Jason is the one to be done with his work weeks ahead of time because then he’d have more time to read lmao)
Jason’s advice on homework: If you can’t focus with people around. Be alone and do the work. There’s time for socializing (and reading) later, but right now, the work needs to be done. Also, always ask for help because staring at the work and hoping it magically makes sense is not helpful. Having a quiet place to work is very helpful for some people.
Tim Drake: Let’s think about him for a minute. He lived alone for a hot minute, and Jack and Janet cared about his grades and were probably really strict about it, so he would do his homework in class- or he would just do it when he got home. Cause all the fun he has is at night when he stalked the batfam, so there’s nothing to do during the day except homework so he’d probably finish his work really quick like Jason, but only so he can go outside at night.
However, when he went to move with the Wayne’s all of that changed. Like he went from working in an empty, completely quiet house to a noisy place. He’d probably get sooooo annoyed because every time he wants to do work, he can’t. Because he will sit down and someone wants to hang out with him. He will sit down and try to focus, but all he can hear is the conversation down the hall or the laughter from Dick and Jason being siblings. There is not a period of quietness at all. He would get soooooooo irritated.
They’d question his bad attitude, and then Bruce figures out that, oh yeah, a lonely kid finally has a family wouldn’t be used to a lot of this noise at home and buys him some noise-canceling headphones. From there, it works great. However, now it’s too quiet, and he can only focus on his racing thoughts and not his work. So he plays a little tune (some ambiance probably) that’s just loud enough that he can make out what it’s supposed to be but quiet enough so it’s not distracting. It helps a lot.
However, he still gets distracted. That sucks. So then he also takes breaks between assignments, so that little mixed-up way helps him get work done. He also has a sign on his door that’s like “don’t come in, I’m working,” that the others will respect. If it’s something important, they will knock.
So Tim’s advice: find a quiet place to do work and play a little background noise to focus. Oh, and take breaks in between assignments to not stress yourself out. He’d probably learned how to prioritize/make a schedule for what day he does what assignment. (Lmao can’t be me, but if it works for y’all- kudos to you.) He’s very organized; it doesn’t look like it, but he is.
(He’d also be the one to try and get ahead of his work and do next week, but by then Dick or Jason will burst in and drag him and play a game and take the rest of the afternoon off)
Damian Wayne: Look, here’s the thing with Damian, right? I feel like the league might have taught him to focus on command. He is very task-oriented, so a task you give him is a task that is done.
But like- in the league it was life or death so the stakes were high. It was either finish it or suffer soooooo he had no choice. When he moves in the Manor the stakes are lowered. So like he wouldn’t finish an assignment on time and he’s like “oh no imma get kicked out-“ but instead Bruce is just like “do better” or some useless shit like that and Damian realizes that there really is no big consequences if he doesn’t do the work. As long as he passes the class he can be Robin so-
Alfred, however, does not allow this mentality to go. His grandsons have to pass their classes with an A or even a B but not a C. (Also, I feel like Damian would never get a C because that is a personal failure; a B is pushing it. He’s a perfectionist like that :3)
So the way he does his homework is out of spite, or Alfred is holding his pets or patrol hostage. You may ask yourself: spite? How would that work? If a teacher says, “this will take at least a week finish so don’t procrastinate,” he will do it in a day just to annoy the teacher. If they say, “you won’t be able to do it-“ he will be able to do it. He will force it to happen. He has to be the best, like simply- he gotta. He will be better if there is a “could be better” part in his assignment. Lmao he is the one student fighting for that one point to round his 99 to 100
But sometimes that doesn’t always work, because maybe the teacher will just assign the work without any comment, and he’s like, “well why should I do it because it won’t affect my grade that much-“ and that’s where Alfred comes in. He will hold Damian’s sketchbook (never look through it, who do you think he is? Bruce?), his pets, or just something he loves hostage until Damian finishes his work. (It’s not serious/bad because Alfred will never keep it overnight. He just notices that Damian works best with high stakes, so it helps him. Alfred has never held another hostage longer than 3 hours because Damian gets it done that fast. He’s very grateful for this because this means that Damian will never call his bluff)
Damian’s advice to do work: High stakes are always the answer. Always do things just because someone says you can’t. Even if it’s yourself saying that you can’t finish it. Do it to spite yourself, then. Oh, your brain said, “I can’t do this” fuck them and do it
Damian has a very aggressive approach to work lmao that’s probably a little unhealthy
But now I shall give my own advice to do work because yeah. (I am not an expert or professional, and these may not work for everyone)
First off, don’t force yourself to focus. Especially it’s only on one assignment. Like if you are in a math vibe and have math work due, but you're trying to focus on English work. Push English to the side and focus on math cause you never know when the vibe will change. Work with your brain; don’t work against it. It’s teamwork, even if it seems like your Brain is just trying to make things difficult.
Another piece of advice: turn it into a game, and try and make it fun. The reason I love math it’s because it’s like solving a mystery and the way I got to like reading is because whenever I had to defend my answer I could pluck it out of the text and be like “look I’m right” and it was like a court case in my mind. So make it fun. (I know it’s homework, and homework sucks, but you still gotta do it)
Another piece of advice: make it manageable. Break it down, if you can simplify it, make it simple. “I have to write an essay on this stuff.” Write down the basic parts of it. What do you want to say? What’s your point? Why do you care? And then, after you answer those in short sentences, go back and make it longer.
But more importantly: don’t stress. That might sound like a basic response but listen- stressing gets nothing done. It delays you. But if you work best under pressure, you do you, but if you can’t? Try and calm down and break it up.
One thing I’ve heard people say is, “you have to do it. One way or another the due date will come and you will have to submit it. You can panic, you can cry, you can get upset but that’s not going to change the fact that time is running. Why waste it crying when you can be doing it?” They always made it sound so easy (and low-key kind of mean), but it’s not always that easy. I mean, the advice helps sometimes, and they bring up a good point.
Whoever says focusing is so easy is a liar. Because it’s not. If it was so easy, these headcanons would not exist.
Take easy on yourself and enjoy these headcanons
Also research some study methods. I am not an expert at this

🌹🍃The Sound of Silence: Wally West x Mute Reader🍃🌹
Tumblr media
[Wally West (Kid flash) Young justice (2010)]
Authors note: This wasn't a request, just something that popped up in my mind, as I go mute. But still feel the need to mask it a lot. So I just want to write a vent about myself, masking, with a character I love.
Many team members were a little wary of you at first; it wasn't anything you did wrong. It was more that they didn't know you or realize your mentor either.
Dick and Tim immediately noticed that you were autistic or at least some type of neurodivergent, mainly due to having Bruce as their father figure, being around Damian, and also Tim being autistic. With all the changes, they ensured you got accommodations to make you feel more comfortable, though they also stayed manageable. Not holding your hand but giving you that safety net.
It was Wally that actually first tried making friends with you, him being the most friendly out of your teammates. Besides Kon, that is, Wally was more enthusiastic. Wanting to make sure you feel welcome. He quickly realized that you couldn't talk; he was confused about why. He found out why through Dick and during the Team being mind linked.
After a while of you two being friends, you and Wally communicated through some basic ASL and some of your stims. He actually nicked his favorite stim of yours, named Happy jazz hands. Another was a vocal stim you picked up while being around him. That being, you mimicking the sound of him using the speed force.
Though, being Autistic, there were downs along with the upsides. Occasionally, having meltdowns or panic attacks due to touching a particular texture or something causes you to change your routine. Wally started regularly helping when you were going through them, helping you calm down. Wither that was helping you get to your room, getting you away from the texture or situation, letting you cuddle into him, or holding his hand.
The rest of your teammates did warm up to you at their own pace, but you stick to Wally like glue. Which did cause Dick to tease his redheaded friend. Especially when you two were holding hands or cuddling on the sofa. You didn't pick up on the social cues of why Dick was teasing him.
At some point, Wally couldn't figure out when his soft spot for you turned into deeper feelings. He didn't know that you definitely felt the same. Though you were hypervigilant, you never tried making a further move, just in case you were reading into things wrong.
During one of your meltdowns, College life, hero work, and every goddamn noise made you feel static and frustrated. Wally carefully approached you, helping you get to your room. This time, however, you asked him to stay with you. Signing: [You visit], which Wally agreed to, sitting on your bed with you.
Resting your head on his chest, though, typical for you both, there was some extra tension for Wally. He loved helping you calm down, even when he was more drained. It means you trust him immensely, but he feels he's tainting that trust by not telling you his true feelings. So he promises to tell you tonight after you've calmed down fully.
'Hey, [name]? Can I tell you something?.' the worried tone made your mouth dry. Does he find me annoying? Did I do something wrong? Sign: [Yes], you knocked twice on an invisible table motion to tell him yes. With a sigh, he continued, 'I don't know when the feelings started,' he paused to word the next ones better, 'but I've grown to really like you, more than just a friend.' The last part, his voice wavering with nervousness.
He finally turned his eyes to you when he felt your weight shift over him. [I. Like. You] was what you signed with a smile, which encouraged a smile to form on the Speedster's. 'I'm so glad,' he laughs with joy when you pull him into a hug.

Tumblr decided to be a bitch and post this before I was done, so I quickly edited it to have an ending. I'm mad because I was still working on how I wanted to describe ASL! {Edited on 1 May 2023}

Hey! So I went to check your bookmarks and alas you have none, but what are the chances you would still have Jason Todd fic/author recommendations? Assuming I've read none. Or just any favorite Batman fics?
I'm getting a little overwhelmed with all the different fandom tags and timelines 😅
🤍
So, as someone who is also relatively new-ish to the Batman fandom but binged A LOT of content early on, my best advice is going to be to find your own vibe.
I've been on tumblr since 2012 and wandered through a ton of fandoms- and yet? Batman has bowled me over with it's sheer....in fighting? (This is obviously not like. Voltron-level stuff. Do yall remember tumblr when Voltron was raging?) People are SO SURE their thing is The Correct Thing. Despite the fact that there are a near endless amount of canon permutations. SO MUCH ship discourse, babe.
So, of course, I have many recs, mostly from ships people get mad about.
A good Jason character intro: Give Thanks to Broken Bones by thepartyresponsible. a VERY GOOD Jason, but one the other hand, technically an Avengers fic. Highly readable, maybe doesn't 100% land the ending, but an extremely good mix of the two worlds.
My favorite Bruce Wayne: Masking by BombusBombus. As much a loving meditation on neurodivergence as it is a a love story, Superbat at their most husbands. (teen baby Jason running around, being lied to by Bruce about why his dad is just. staring at pictures of Superman's hands.)
Smut: make me (say your name) by Naheka. Dick/Jason, character study wrapped around smut that is just. SO in character. Not wildly explicit, but earning the rating.
Fluff (not vigilantes au): no ordinary by SPQR. Dick/Jason. They're teenagers at boarding school and it so SO perfectly captures that hazy late teen longing AND Jason's bone deep direness about all kinds of love. I'd read 8x more words of this.
Further fluff: a blue curtain is a damn blue curtain by heartslogos. I have no idea if Jason canonically knows the language of flowers, but it pops up a surprising amount? And frankly, feels right. Short, sweet, disaster vibes. Heartslogos has literal hundreds of fics, I haven't shifted through them all, but it seems like a good mix of gen and romance.
Bats being messy as all hell: Strings Attached by FabulaRasa. I love love love what a (justified) bitch Jason is in this one. Primarily a Bruce Wayne/Hal Jordan story, but the background Jason/Dick absolutely got me. Everyone's an adult and everyones being characteristically fucked up. Trigger warning for some messy internalized homophobia stuff being worked through. A lot of stuff about Bruce and Jason just...loving and hating each other.
Casefic that works as a romance with fun Adult elements: do you wanna feel a little beautiful, baby by sister. A rare gem in terms of everyone found familying about while not acting like that's a restrictive container. Jason/Tim. Plot important booty shorts. Easily the most realistic/best Stephanie Brown I've come across. Obsessed with the little snaps of Jason's vulnerability we get in this one.
I'm definitely forgetting or leaving out some fun ones, but this is a start! Happy reading :)

Work Description: I do digital art in a cartoony/comic booky style!! I also do Chibi that you can see on my socials here! I can do different characters/relationships than what I listed ;) Though I’m a bit picky about shipping, so I might not want to do some relationships super shippy and romantic other than what's listed. Willing to draw pretty much anything gen with characters I know. Feel free to still ask if I want to do a specific romantic ship or something, though; I still might consider it! I'm familiar with all of the MCU shows and movies, some of X-Men movies, Spider-Man and X-Men Ultimate universe comics, and the AOS Loki storyline! (Haven’t finished it all the way through though!) Most likely would be half-body and a couple characters together but willing to negotiate ;) As I now work and am in school again, I might need some grace time with my busy schedule, so probably about 1-3 months depending on which auction number you are! (I am doing 3 auctions and I can only work on one at a time lol). If you would like it for a specific holiday or something, let me know and I can try and make it work! I usually work best with more frequent communication! I like sending wips lol and feel free to reach out for any questions/updates. I usually am most active on Instagram/Twitter/Discord. Also, the more details/specificity in the prompt, the easier it is for me! Please consider donating to one of the neurodivergent/disability support charities if bidding for this! My cousin is severely disabled and my family has been struggling to find the right care for him, so just on my heart lately and would mean a lot to me as a neurodivergent person myself as well. ❤️❤️ Thanks so much! Can’t wait to see your prompt!

GET TO KNOW THE AUTHOR!
𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄 : Bunni! I also go by Bunny, Bun or any other synonyms for a rabbit! Haha
𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐒 : I go by all pronouns! Given I’m agender and like, just sort of foggy about my gender? I don’t really feel any one way or another! So call me what you want, I’m still a Bun!
𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 : Tumblr messages are honestly my go-to, simply because on Tumblr I notice a lot quicker than on discord and I’m less likely to forget!
𝐌𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐄(𝐒) : Right now it’s Fíadh, the Alpinist, Chromeskull, Leshy and 8713!
𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 / 𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐘 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒? : No one laugh at me, but I started roleplaying on Quotev and Deviantart back when I was, I think, 14? And now I’m 21, turning 22, so crunching the numbers, I’ve been writing for just about 7 years! Probably more though, given my memory isn’t super accurate and I’m probably leaving out a lot! Haha
𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 : On the platform?? MEETING ALL OF MY CURRENT PALS! God, I will call them out by name but Bruce and Freddy were some of the kindest, most encouraging and patient folks I have ever met and I’m so glad I was able to find them on here and write with them when I could!
𝐑𝐏 𝐏𝐄𝐓 𝐏𝐄𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐒 : OH MY GOD I HAVE SO MANY; my number one pet peeve, though is when people just straight up do not read your responses and writing! Not in the sense of misunderstanding your intentions but just straight up not reading all of your answers to the point where it shows IN THEIR RESPONSES! Sorry not sorry, but if you cannot handle a multi-para high-lit writer, don’t try to roleplay with them! Letting them create paragraphs for you, only for you to ignore or skim it is a dick move!
𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐒𝐓, 𝐅𝐋𝐔𝐅𝐅 𝐎𝐑 𝐒𝐌𝐔𝐓? :
Tumblr media
𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐑 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐒? : NGL my pride would physically not allow me to post anything under one paragraph. Just not my style! That being said, I’m not picky with what I get! As long as it has enough for me to build action and voice on top of, I’m happy!
𝐏𝐋𝐎𝐓𝐒 𝐎𝐑 𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐒? : My most controversial take, but I almost prefer memes more than extremely long and drawn-out plots taking place over weeks, because, no matter how much I adore a dynamic, that commitment eventually does wear me out y'know??
𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐖𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐄? : UHHHHH- whenever I get the time and that hyper fixation strikes! Usually early evening, though!
𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐒? : WELLL, it really depends! Am I out in the hills eating people, in a hospital healing people, defying death at every turn or ruling a hellish realm? Absolutely not! But each of the muses does contain a small piece of me beneath the surface!
It seems silly but I’ve always done this as a way to make it easier for me to relate and connect to them! It’s often microscopic, but shared traumas, fears, loves and minor personality traits (8713 is most like the mun ngl) does countless good to ensuring that not only can I keep playing them in the long term but ensuring that they are wholly mine!
To outline one of the similarities/shared threads of personality
Fíadh deals heavily with a fear of abandonment and loss of control over her body.
In her story, this is due to several factors from childhood neglect and abuse, a precarious sense of self-esteem, the curse that plagues her, her history of being moved around and used as a piece on a chess board, and the death/rejection from everyone she has held dear up to her current point (except for the Trapper/Trader and Leshy ofc) however the truth is, while narratively it does make sense, it was born from me and my experience as being neurodivergent and struggling with a sense of self and value due to the repeated rejection and experiences that came from it!
𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐃 𝐁𝐘 : @lettherebemonsters (thank you a ton for the tag! I had a lot of fun filling this out!) 𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆 : anyone who wants to do this!

😊👂‍Murder at the Charity Ball (Miss Underhay Mystery #11) (Helena Dixon, author; Karen Cass, narrator) - another episode in this cotton candy cozy series
🥰Plastered (Zenaidamacrouras1) - 59K, stucky no powers AU; single dad bucky + architect Steve - charming; solid versions of the characters, very enjoyable
😊Half a Soul (Regency Faerie Tales #1) (Olivia Atwater, author; Rafe Beckley, narrator) - quite enjoyed this, liked the neurodivergent rep, very relieved at the lack of 'cure' ending - it did make me want to read/finish the Sorcery & Cecelia series by Patricia C. Wrede
😍Knife Skills (Hark_bananas) - 72K, post-WS recovery fic; reread, forever fave, absolute perfection
💖💖 +180K of shorter fic so shout out to these I really loved 💖💖
save a horse, ride an ex-jock (alligator_writes) - Stranger Things: Steddie, 9.8K - hilarious, almost-crackfic of a meet-cute at a country bar where electric bull riding shenanigans ensue. If you've seen that video, you get it
eat me alive (emryses) - Stranger Things: Steddie, 7.2K - baby's first rimming - eddie gets the full 'steve harrington treatment' - just delightfully filthy and also tender af
Auld Lang Syne (Annakovsky, drunktuesdays) - AEW: OC/Chuck Taylor, 36K - Family Man AU - do I watch wresting? I do not. Did I still get emotional while reading this? I very much did. shoutout to the great writing here!
shipling rivalries (ScarlettSwordMoon) - Batman: , 5.2K - HILARIOUS crackfic where all the batkids debate & present their cases for who Dick should be in a relationship with. Bruce regrets his entire life. Damian gets to say "That’s what Richard deserves: a strong warrior who can care and provide for him. I believe the correct terminology for it is a ‘daddy’."

Ok, so I've only started reading the 90's Nightwing comics and watched the 90's Batman and Teen Titans cartoons. Tim being possibly(?) neurodivergent is new and news to me. I'd actually be happy if that's the case. More representation, you know?
I have never viewed Tim as neurodivergent, but he could be. I know Bruce has OCD and has both canon and implied autism. I always imagine Dick has adhd. But I don't mind those headcanons and they are rampant in the batfandom for good reason (@autistic-damian-wayne @autisticredhood just as some usernames and great blogs lol). You can always make a great argument for any of the batfam (or heroes in general) being on the neurodivergent scale and I think the more we talk about it and normalize it, the more acceptance there is.
I like to think maybe Bernard is neurodivergent and Tim is not, but he has his hero quirks and both have to adjust. I also love the idea of one partner being neurotypical and unabashedly loving a neurodivergent character without being shamed or it being an obstacle in their relationship,if that makes sense. Like i hate the concept that it takes a special person to lobe neurodivergent people or it is a gift they are bestowing by being so kind to accept their neurodivergency 😒
This blog definitely supports autism and neurodivergency.
@fantastic-nonsense or @scarletbirbs may have some good panels or arguments for neurodivergent Tim.
*caveat as always, I have adhd and ocd and my kiddos are both autistic so this is always coming from a place of love for the neurodivergent community. Please don't at me

Dude’s first steps into understanding The Trans
This needs a lot of context first so bare with me
So I work at Walmart and there’s this one guy who I have called Follow Friend when telling others about him.
Now, I think I’m the only one in my department (apparel) that actually has the patience to deal with him and I’m pretty sure that’s because I’m a fellow neurodivergent so I just kinda...get it.
He follows me around for literal hours just talking and talking and asking very basic questions. I don’t know what his flavor of neurodivergent is, I can’t place it, but it’s also none of my business. He can’t read time, even on a digital clock, but he knows what the numbers mean when you say them out loud. He seems to be unable to read most anything. This isn’t for a lack of education, no, I just learned that attends one of the best schools in our area. I also learned that he’s 17 and still repeating the 9th grade. I’ve explained to him what the word “fancy” means, I’ve explained the point of fishnet tights in a PG way, I’ve explained why clothes are different for men and women, I’ve explained the history and evolution of dresses and that men used to wear tunics and yes that was like a dress but not, I’ve explained what cotton is, and I’ve explained what is means when something is expensive.
I don’t think he hasn’t ever had these things explained or didn’t learn stuff, I think his brains just doesn't hold onto anything and that’s okay. He has a very simple mind and I mean that in the most basic factual way.
Yesterday, Follow Friend found me again and asked if it was weird that he used to paint his nails. I said it wasn’t and that lots of people paint their nails for different reasons. He wanted to know if painting them made him gay. From my understanding he’s from a very conservative family and he also has very conservative views but is too jolly in his soul to ever have that conservation bitterness or hatred.
“Painting your nails doesn't make you gay, but it is generally considered to be a feminine thing to do.”
I then explained what feminine was. He asked if I knew any gay people and I said I did. He asked if I knew any gay girls and I said I did and introduce him to the term lesbian. I try to keep my own opinions out of conversations while at work because I don’t want a disagreeing Karen to pop up out of nowhere and yell at me. He then asked me when gay people first existed. He wondered if it only started in like 2010 or something.
Listen, I don’t know the depth of what he can comprehend or if complex social topics like this will just leave him confused. So I broke it down to the most simple elements I could on the spot.
“Modernly, I would say things started changing in the ‘70′s. But gay people have been around as long as all people have. Personally, I wasn’t aware of gays until I was in middle school in 2008.”
“Really? As long ago as the 70′s? Wow. I don’t know any old gay people though. Do you?”
“Yes, my mom’s cousin is gay.” I didn’t elaborate on that. He was a teen in the 70s and has seen a lot of violence in his life. Sweet guy. He got his happy ending though! He lives in the mountains with his husband and two chihuahuas and a labrador.
Follow Friend was stumped by that and then asked if trans people have been around that long because he didn’t know any old trans people. One thing he does seem to retain some knowledge of though is pop culture and celebrates. And I wasn’t about to out the elder trans woman that worked in the store.
“Well, do you know about Caitlyn Jenner?” I asked and his eyes lit up.
“Oh yeah! He was Bruce!”
“Yes, see? There are old trans. They have been around just as long as the gays.”
“Since the 70′s? That’s along time.”
“Yup.” The abstract notion of “as long as people have been around” didn’t stick.
“Do you know trans people?” He asked. He never asks a disingenuous question.
“I do, I know some tans men and some trans women.” I elaborated to explain that trans men were transitioning to men while trans women where transitioning to women. That was a bit much, he kinda got this lost and sad look like he had no idea what words I was even say so I cut the explanation short. But he was still curious.
“What do they do? Take medicine? Get surgery?”
“They take hormone medicine but none of them have gotten surgeries done.”
“Oh, why not?”
“Well, surgery is expensive.”
“Oh yeah! And what if it all broke or came undone or fell out? That wouldn’t be worth it cause you’d have to do it all again. Doing it twice would be too expensive.”
I don’t think he knows how the various surgeries work but he made it make sense in his mind. I’m also not about to give an anatomy lesson in Walmart.
“Yes, so my friends are just letting their bodies be for now.”
“That’s probably smart.”
Did I handle this all perfectly? No. Should I have corrected him? Maybe, but in this situation I don’t think correcting him was not the right answer. He was able to make things make sense for himself. Even if it’s not the most accurate I watched it click in his brain and I’m not about to undo that.

Bruce not even realizing that his kids are neurodivergent because he is also neurodivergent is so important to me:
"What do you mean it's weird that Dick eats the same food for a month straight? So do I. :)"
"Cass and I didn't speak at all during breakfast. It was great. :)"
"Jason is too focused on his book right now, so we can't bother him until he finishes it. :)"
"Tim is chewing on his necklace? And? He likes it. :)"
"Yeah, Stephanie moves her hands like that all the time. You don't? :)"
"Damian needs the dogs to lay on him because he likes the pressure. Everyone likes that! :)"
"No, you don't understand. Duke NEEDS his headphones. :)"
These are all baby Dick
Dick: [doing t-Rex arms]
Bruce: [doing the same] “Alfred, see? I’m not weird”
Dick: [walks in his toes]
Bruce: [walks up stairs on his toes only] “it’s nice to know I’m not the only one”
Dick: [touches a bad texture and freaks out]
Bruce: “I know! I told Alfred it’s horrible”
All baby Tim
Tim: [avoids eye contact]
Bruce: “oh thank god”
Tim: [vocal stims]
Bruce: “hmm”
Tim: [doesn’t speak in the morning]
Bruce: [doesn’t speak in the morning]

More Important | Bucky Barnes
✦ pairing — Bucky Barnes x female!Plus Size Reader with ADHD
✦ word count — 1.2k
✦ request — Can i ask you pretty please just whenever you're available to and have some free time do like. Bucky has a soft spot for reader and she has ADHD but isnt on meds and so one day is really bad and she cant seem to do anything right and she gets frustrated with herself and really upset and then Tony or Bruce snap at her and it just upsets her more and so Bucky defends her and takes her out of the situation by either going to her place or out to a dinner or something?
✦ warnings — some angst, Tony snaps at reader, fluff that can be interpreted as either romantic or platonic.
✦ author's note — this is the first time I’ve depicted a neurodivergency in my writing so I would really appreciate some feedback.
════════════════════════
Bucky smiled at you through the glass wall, greeting you as he always did. You waved at him, eyes widening when you saw Sam walking beside him. The sight made you remember you were supposed to fix Sam’s wings.
Shit, why couldn’t you just use the reminders app on your phone? Palming your pocket, you groaned — of course you had forgotten your phone too.
As Bucky and Sam made their way to the lounge, you hurried to the other side. You hoped Steve wouldn’t need Sam for a mission soon, at least not until night.
About to reach the elevator, you crashed against someone. Gasping, you gripped Natasha’s shirt to keep yourself from falling.
She held you by the waist, frowning as she looked at you. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, yeah. I’m great! Never been better.”
Not believing you, she tugged on the hem of your top. “Your blouse is backwards.”
Squeezing your eyes shut, you hummed. Yeah, sure, that had to happen to you the same day you ruined your favorite blouse with coffee. You forgot that you had stored your clothes the right way for once.
“I’ll fix it,” you mumbled, fluttering your eyes open. You let go of her shirt, yet Natasha didn’t let go of you immediately.
“If you need anything…”
You nodded. “I know, Nat, thank you.”
The bathroom was empty, floors still wet from cleaning. You washed your hands, happy to know Tony had bought coconut soap again. Finally looking at yourself in the mirror, you fixed your blouse. Happy with the outcome, you breathed out in relief.
The tiles around you made the outfit look nice even. You were tempted to stay there, admiring the way the colors complimented each other. It was a pretty sight, calming, startlingly different yet mundane.
Pumping the soap dispenser, you inhaled the coconut scent of the liquid soap and rubbed it over your wet hands, lathering it up. The bubbles lightly tickled their way between your fingers, barely popping as you rubbed your right digits between the left ones.
After washing the remaining bubbles, you dried your hands against your pants and left the bathroom.
An empty laboratory greeted you. The sight was too rare, you were used to being welcomed by Tony — usually with a sarcastic comment and a warm smile.
Approaching your workspace, you heard the code being punched in.
Bruce stuck his head inside the lab, asking, “What are you doing here?”
“Oh, I was about to start working on Sam’s wings,” you explained, pointing to the wings on the table.
“Everybody is in the meeting room. We’ve been waiting for you.”
You walked toward him, hesitating to come out of the lab before following him. Bruce’s steps were hurried which meant the meeting was serious.
Natasha followed you with her eyes as you took your seat next to Tony who tightly smiled at you.
You placed your hands on your lap, joining your fingers. Rolling your thumbs over each other, you fixed your eyes on Steve.
Steve uncrossed his arms and started talking, looking at every single one of you as he did so. His words stopped making sense rather quickly, the topic changed drastically and you weren’t able to follow up — not today.
Tony snapped his fingers in front of your face. “Can you pay attention for two minutes?”
“W— yeah, sorry.”
“I was telling you that I will need you and Bruce to clear your schedules.”
You nodded. What schedule? He surely had faith on you using the planner he gave you, and your reminders app, and the daily email he made FRIDAY send you.
A loud sigh slid past Tony’s lips and he exploded, “I need you focused for this project! Can you do it or not?”
You jumped at the shift in his tone.
"Tony," Bucky warned harshly.
Tony rubbed his hand over his face, growing more and more frustrated. "I know you have a soft spot for her, but this project is important. You just heard Steve, everything depends on that antidote."
"Then get somebody else to help too, it’s not more important than her. She's about to explode!"
“I’m fine,” you croaked, too embarrassed and frustrated to put up with people talking about you as though you weren’t in the room.
Not able to bring yourself to stand up, you made yourself small on the chair and waited for them to continue talking about the mission.
Tony's gaze softened as it fell on your form. “You need a day off?” he asked, ashamed by his outburst. He should’ve known better than anyone how hard some days were.
You shrugged. Bucky answered for you, “Yes, she does.”
Bucky stood up, rounding the table and walking toward you. "Come with me," he told you in a soft voice, offering his hand to you.
“Go,” Tony mumbled.
Knowing that was the closest to an apology you would get from Tony, you dropped your palm on top of Bucky’s.
Bucky helped you stand up even though you didn’t need him to and then opened the door for you to walk out of the room first.
The sun had already set when you left the building. Bucky didn’t let go of your hand yet his grip wasn’t too tight — thankfully because the hustle and bustle in the streets was ringing in your ears.
You wanted to crawl into your own skin and never get out of your flesh cocoon.
“Do you wanna go anywhere in particular?”
“Home,” you managed to say.
He looked at you for a short moment, nodding as he assessed the situation.
════════════════════════
You fiddled with the loops of your jeans as you waited for the brown door to open. The building was quiet in contrast to the busy streets yet the ringing in your ears lingered.
The small door in front of you opened. The old man in front of you smiled in greeting. “Keys?”
You tiredly nodded. “Again,” you said with frustration.
“It’s alright,” the man said, walking past you and leading the way toward your apartment.
Bucky trailed behind you, eyes scanning the area out of habit. He thanked the man at the same time you did for unlocking your door and softly rested his hand on your back to lead you in.
Closing the door, he asked, “Lights on or off?”
“On, but dimmed.”
“Why don’t you change into some—“
You interrupted him, “Sam will need his wings, won’t he?”
“Don’t worry about that now. Tony can fix them.” He then added, “Sam isn’t stupid either, he can fix them on his own. You’re just better at it than him.”
“But Tony is busy already and Sam probably has other stuff to do that isn’t fixing his wings which is my job.”
Bucky draped his now discarded jacket on the arm of the couch. “You had a bad day, okay? That happens to all of us, you think Sam won’t understand?” Before you could answer, he said what you didn’t let him finish earlier, “Change into something comfortable and I’ll order us some food.”
“You don’t have to make me company if you don’t want to.”
“I want to,” he assured you. “Tony was right when he said I have a soft spot for you. Now go.” He nodded upward at the door he knew to be your bedroom’s. “Take your time.”

Blessings, Curses, Autism
My earliest memories are of waiting rooms with musty carpets and buckets of donated, broken toys. I guess it was worse for my parents, who had nothing to stare at but walls and trashy lifestyle magazines. Eventually, the professionals decided I had a condition called Asperger’s Syndrome, and there was one thing they wanted me to understand:
“It’s a blessing, not a curse.”
If someone asked me to list blessings off the top of my head, I’d mention 20/20 vision, pitch-perfect hearing, or George Foreman’s chin — not a neurological disorder that transforms the most natural stages of personal development into a confusing struggle. In hindsight, I would have preferred more concrete advice than ‘it’s a blessing, not a curse.’ Something like:
“Watch out for the train!”
…But the quippy slogan is what stuck. My parents dispensed it like a cheap plaster, and I still don’t know whose benefit it was for — mine, or theirs. What I do know, is that I never once believed them: I felt I was being brushed aside, or told to accept something blatantly untrue. Besides, children don’t care to question whether they’re blessed or cursed, so it was an answer to a question that hadn’t been asked. Existentialism is for adults trying to make the best of a bad situation.
Being an Autistic Child.
Autism is not a superpower. Thanks to certain pieces of popular media, you might think of autistic people as quirky-yet-brilliant detectives, awkward-yet-sexy hackers (always female), or nonverbal children with a deep, instinctive connection to whatever animal or alien the protagonists are trying to communicate with. Often, people with severe autism are plot devices in the same vein as a forbidden orb or set of nuclear launch codes. Instead of damsels waiting for Bruce Willis to save them, they’re objects waiting for Bruce Willis to understand them.
A lot of autistic people are brilliant academically, though not for the reasons you might think. A common feature of autism is hyper-fixating on ‘special interests’, obsessing over a subject until one has learned everything about it, before moving on to the next. Very few people become maths geniuses this way; more often they become diehard Sonic fans or start giving lots of money to Games Workshop. Here are a few of the phases I went through:
-          Thomas the Tank Engine.
-          Pokémon.
-          Old English monster myths.
-          Naruto.
-          Peter Jackson’s King Kong (both the movie and the video game).
-          Bleach (the anime, thankfully, not the cleaning product).
Fairly normal interests for a young person, right? Now remember the hyper-fixation part. People with Asperger’s tend to focus on certain interests at the expense of others, and those ‘rejected interests’ are usually vital for social development. Now remember that high school is a psychopathic hellscape crawling with cruel little monsters ready to vent their newfound territorial instincts on anyone who doesn’t fit in. The kid who wants to discuss the depiction of brontosauruses in a sort-of-okay remake of a 1933 movie isn’t doing himself any favours — constant bullying drives him even deeper into reclusive interests and solitary hobbies, and from there, it’s the luck of the draw whether those hobbies resonate with any of the kids around him.
I’ve always known a lot about things no one knows about, and nothing about things everyone knows about. This, along with the fact that a lack of social life makes it easy to focus on one’s studies, creates the illusion that some autistic kids are eccentric geniuses-in-the-making. Parents — especially the parents of autistic children — are quick to latch onto any display of intelligence. They watch intently for any sign their long struggle is paying off, and when it happens, they praise their child endlessly, reinforcing behaviour patterns both good and bad. Because adults told me I was intelligent, I told other children I was intelligent, and you can imagine how well that went.
This misapprehension — confusing a bunch of random trivia for genius — followed me into high school, hurting me all the while, which is ironic, because it was the only positive way I could think about myself.
I’m lucky to have found books and writing as lifelong passions, but that almost didn’t happen; in fact, I used to despise any writing task the teacher set for me, to the point of outright refusing to do the work. In my defence, I was trying very hard to be somewhere else at the time — mentally, that is. The idea of putting my feelings on paper, for all to see? I couldn’t conceive of anything more terrifying.
Harry Potter changed things. I was gifted The Deathly Hallows when it was first published, and even though I had no idea what was going on in the story (I hadn’t even seen The Order of the Phoenix yet), I thought it was wonderful — maybe because I was getting a sneak peek into a future movie. Since then, I’ve always had a book close at hand, and it wasn’t long before I started writing my own novels (more on those another time).
Voracious reading was, technically, another un-social activity that would consume my waking hours, but at least it was productive. My grades improved dramatically. I got good at writing essays. I became better at expressing myself, and I started to consider other people’s points of view. I made friends, lifelong bonds. I wouldn’t say I was happy at that stage of life — bullies tend to push back against things like improved mental health — but at least I was growing.
Looking back, I can’t help but wonder how close I came to disaster. I was 13 or so. If I’d left it any later, I doubt the outcome would have been so peachy. There are plenty of autistic adults with no friends, no employable skills, no human contact but ageing parents and rare, fleeting therapy sessions. Many of these people are quirky and brilliant, but there’s no happy ending for them.
Being an Autistic Adult.
Autism never goes away. It never gets ‘better’. It isn’t curable because it’s not a disease, despite what the vaccine deniers might tell you; autism is an intrinsic part of my neurological makeup, and living with it is a process of compromises.
I had to accept, early on, that I’m not the same sort of human being as the people around me. My brain is a different brand of brain: it makes different connections, processes different bits of data at different speeds. Things that seem obvious to you, need to be explained to me. I struggle to read a room, and I’m never quite sure if the person I’m talking to would really rather I shut up.
Put simply, my childhood experiences made me keenly aware of myself as an outsider. I need to watch for people’s reactions to anything I say or do, all the while navigating a maze of social cues and left-unsaids — but sooner or later, I’m always going to slip up. When you are differently-brained, it’s easy to misinterpret instructions, or to misjudge which thread of discussion is most important; and when you’re processing so much data at any one time, small-yet-vital points are going to slip under the radar. The result is being told off, being laughed at (‘laughing with you, not at you’ is another fun slogan I’ve learned to endure), and generally feeling stupid or useless for overlooking one point of data among hundreds.
As I grew into an adult, I got better at performing normal. Nowadays, only those who spend a lot of time around me can spot the signs of my condition: I seem confident, funny, sympathetic, and I make friends easily. As I write this, I can’t help but feel uneasy: it makes me wonder, and not for the first time, how much of my personality is genuine. In high-stress situations, the generic piece of advice is ‘relax and be yourself.’ Succeeding in life as an autistic person means learning not to be yourself, or at least creating a version of yourself that can exist in public — so, where does the real me end, and the performance begin? Are they one and the same? I’ll never know the answer to that question.
Being an autistic adult, then, means pretending I’m not autistic for the benefit of other people. It’s a lifelong, often exhausting performance, and the temptation to retreat into my shell is ever present. But, just like anyone else, I long for human contact, so the compromise is a necessary one.
Blessings & Curses: Redux.
Terry Pratchett wrote that humans need to learn to believe the little lies so they can believe in big ones. There’s something I wish I knew during the bad years; that I was far from the only person suffering from my condition. My parents were stumbling in the dark just like me, except they had to pretend everything was under control.
My dad confided in me, recently, how he used to cry — a lot — during those days when I would return from school after another worst day of my life, talking about footballs thrown at my head, being cornered and verbally abused, or being removed from class after another tantrum. These were practically daily occurrences, and they’ve left their lifelong marks on me, but I’ve never lacked for brilliant people willing to help, people who were alongside me in my suffering. Raising a child is hard, and raising a neurodivergent child is even harder. Can I blame my parents for wanting to believe in blessings, and not curses?
Most of the time, those bad years seem like a distant memory. I don’t see autism as my blessing or my curse; it’s just a part of me — a frustrating, limiting, often embarrassing part of me, but one just as vital as my eye colour or ethnicity. I’ve come to accept it and be content despite it, and I suppose that’s the best outcome I could hope for.

Things that I would remake to have it be exactly the way I want it to but I don't care about them enough to do.
The magnus archives (turning up the fun meter, turning down the tragedy meter, and turning up the respect for mentally ill and neurodivergent people, turning down the racism, and turning up the swearing, and adding a self insert because I bloody well can)
Mcu (blending it with the comics and the cartoons, giving bruce banner and black widow the respect they deserve (fuck you joss whedon), and adding a self insert because I fucking can)
Steven universe (they did not plan shit but since its done now I can adjust some things to make it a stable timeline, also finish a lot of character arcs, and not use racial stereotypes)
Voltron, twilight, Harry potter (good lord I don't even know how I would fix this)
Star wars (no more facism, finn is jedi and he's the main character because the storyline of him being an ex storm trooper is so fucking interesting to me, and I don't know from there)
Portal (au where cave johnson isn't a fucking asshole, happiness ensues)

Please tell me if I need to tag anything else :)
*Also, I’m planning on having this story as a slow burn, so please be prepared :)
Prompts: “Do I look like I give a fuck?”, “I don’t know what I’m feeling, but I’m feeling a lot of  it.”, and “Not to dictate your life, but drop your shitty friends.”
A/N: Okay, so this gets... interesting. I'm not going to tell you how things go in the future, but know that this is a very dramatic turn and I guess I just wanted to warn you a bit before I posted it. I'll answer questions as long as it doesn't spoil anything, so feel free to ask away
Happy reading! (Also, feel free to comment your thoughts! I love reading comments :))
Also, if you’d like to be added to the tags list, please let me know! :D
      _____________________________________________________
You walked down the stairs seeing red, your eyes probably glowing as you couldn't help but hear the numerous amounts of thoughts running through everyone's heads. Complete focus wasn't there. The world blurred, mixed with reds and blacks. Accents of sunlight making everything feel like the Greybeyond from Lord of The Rings after Frodo had put the ring on.
When you get to the living room, you don't stop. The room quiets as everyone starts to stare. Within moments, you have a full room of eyes on you. Their thoughts won't stop, they're clouding your mind like smoke in a strip club.
Through all the noise, you heard Steve speak.
"Y/n, what're you--" his voice was low, like he was talking to an enemy, so you had no moral conflict in interrupting him.
"All of your kids are neurodivergent, and are currently suffering." You practically growled, "And yet you guys are continuing to argue so LOUD without ANY consideration for your children-- the children you chose to adopt and take care of." you spit, your hands balling into fists.
You saw Bucky's face go pale. He glanced at the exit.
A dry chuckle escaped your lips. "You really think they want to see you? After everything they've just listened to?" another sarcastic huff. "Why don't we settle this somewhere they won't hear you?"
Snap.
Your hand was still up when Steve's shield hit your face. Your jaw dislocated-- or maybe it broke. You weren't quite sure. Either way, you took your hand, which was still in its previous position of post-snapping, and used it to relocate your jaw. Seconds later it was healed.
"I'd like to say I'm a very sympathetic person, Steve," You took a breathe, still overwhelmed by the overlapping voices that were composed of everyone's thoughts, "That's why I'm maintaining my composure."
Another breath. You blink.
"However, becoming unhinged and attacking me out of nowhere won't do anyone any good for multiple reasons." you frowned, "I figured, since you'd been the one to teach Maverick that, that you too would understand the concept." your frown deepened, "But I guess being wrong is today's family trend." you sigh.
The place you'd transported everyone wasn't actually real. Technically, they were all still in the living room, passed out. Would you tell them that yet? No, but it helped when you thought about Steve throwing his shield at you thinking it'd actually do anything to you. He had seen you fight, after all.
So yes, instead of actually attempting to teleport them anywhere (which was only something you'd thought you might be able to do), you made it look like you'd teleported them to Château du Guildo, Créhen, France. They were awkwardly standing in the ruins' courtyard during a chill, starry night.
You made things as realistic as possible to evade any suspicion. However, Tony, who was just wearing a tee-shirt, was almost shakey with his arms crossed because you hacked into everyone's hypothalamus (which controls how you feel temperature--Bruce had you learn the known parts of the brain to make your job "easier") so they could feel their surroundings. You used to do things like this for HYDRA as a method of torture, but you tried not to let those types of thoughts enter your mind right now. You didn't need that. You needed to stay focused and concrete.
The more you thought about the way Katie looked at you as you looked
Around at the people your siblings called parents, the more your anger started to boil.
"Now that we have you out of the house," you forced yourself to calm down a little, rubbing the very realistic pain that was still present in your cheek, "What in the fucking UNIVERSE WAS THAT ABOUT?!" You didn't quite scream, but you wanted to--oh how you wanted to.
The so-called Avengers just looked down for a moment.
Then, of course, Steve fucking spoke up.
"Well," he looked around at his teammates, which apparently didn't include you anymore. What a shame. "Some of us don't think you should be... included on the team anymore."
A laugh, one that was so dry and sarcastic, it almost became real, left your lips. "That's rich." You chuckled, wiping a fake tear from your eye.
"Y/n, they're serious." Tony gave you a concerned dad look.
Your semi-forced smile dropped, "I know how serious he is, Tony." You Looked over to Sam, already knowing he was probably on Steve's side. He always was, after all, "They think I'm still controlled by HYDRA. They think I'm a double agent."
Sam stepped up, "HYDRA has nothing to do with this."
Vision chimed in for a moment, "Y/n, we think you're... unstable." he looked at you with a sincerity that no one else seemed capable of, "We only wish to expand your mental stability in order to prevent more outburst that could possibly cause harm towards others. Particularly Katie, and her siblings."
Tony stepped up, now just as angry as he probably was before, "Y/n wouldn't lay a finger on that girl and you know it!" he furiously spat, his hands shaking as he angrily pointed a finger at Vision.
"Tony, we're not saying she'd want to do anything." Steve seemed desperate to make Tony understand, you realized he'd probably been trying all night and getting nowhere. "No one in their right mind would want to hurt that little girl, but--"
"And when was the last time Y/n was in the wrong mindset?" Pietro asked, stepping up to Steve boldly, "When was the last time she did anything without a reason?" he asked, his arms disdainfully swinging at his sides.
Rhodey gave him a pointed look, "What do you call hacking into our locked files and illegally copying them to her laptop?" he asked.
"I call it finding the answers she should've had access to in the first place as a member of the Avengers." Wanda looked at Rhodey like she was reminding him of the fact that she could tear him to pieces in a matter of moments, and that she was definitely thinking about it.
"That's like giving Peter access to all of our files" Natasha rolled her eyes.
"He has access to all of our files," Tony corrected, "He's just too distressingly polite to look through them without our permission." He added.
Peter, who wasn't too far away, nodded. "I feel bad if I don't ask Mr. Stark first, but I do have access to everything, just like Mr. Stark and Steve," he told them. "I thought Y/n had full access too, so I didn't really think anything of it when I heard she hacked us, because what else are you supposed to do when you don't have the password and everyone else is asleep, right?" He nervously chuckled and watched himself shift his feet due to the vast amounts of attention he'd just accidentally earned.
"Besides, what's it to you anyway?" Clint just looked done with everyone, "We're prepared to deal with her if she does lose her shit, which isn't going to happen btw," he paused to take a sip from the coffee pot no one had noticed he had, "and it's not like she's as difficult as Barnes was!" Another sip, "Like, I love the kids as much, if not more, than you do, but she's not a threat to them. They love each other too much." He gave Steve a side look, "Almost like you and Barnes," he commented, proceeding to take a long, loud drink of his coffee as the rest of the world processed what he'd said.
Steve blushed, but didn't let Clint get to him.
"I still think that we just need to make sure--"
"What, exactly?" you snapped, "Because, I don't think there's literally anything for you to be worried about, Steve." You'd slowly become calmer in this atmosphere. It wasn't getting out of hand anymore, and it was more of a debate now. However, hearing Steve had caused your blank expression to fade into a blatantly irritated frown/scowl situation.
"We just want to make sure you're... yourself." Sam tried to reason, "We want to make sure you're well enough to have full control of yourself--"
"So it is about HYDRA?" you interjected, already knowing how the rest of his statement would've sounded.
No one said anything.
You scoffed, "unbelievable." you look up to the heavens you hoped didn't have to see this, "To think I believed you when you told me I was a part of the team. That you thought I was all better and wanted me here because I made a good edition." you threw your hands up as tears started to form in your eyes, "And all that other complete bullshit you were feeding me." You laughed, your voice breaking, "When all you really wanted was another helpless mess that wanted nothing more than to try and make up for all the horrible things they'd done. You wanted someone just trying to change-- because after James, Pietro, Wanda, really everyone here, you just couldn't get enough. You just love a sob story, huh?!" You sniffed, looking down at everyone around. Most everyone just had their heads down in shame.
You smiled, nodding as the tears started to fall. The overlapping voices weren't helping, but you could barely hear them anymore. Not over the quickly developing silence that your brain demanded.
"Not even a word." You continue to nod, not knowing what else to do, "I get it. I see." A sad, sinister smile appears on your face as an idea popped into your head.
"That's alright," You stopped nodding, smiling at the floor and whispering, "that just means you won't mind when I leave."
With that statement, you look up just in time to see everyone's final face of panic before--
Snap.
