"Is your heaven Xanadu?" He seemed incredulous, but a hint of a smile played on his lips. The air was cool and smelled like Sweet Honesty and cloves.

Honey spun in a circle. Her legs whirled from bow legged into a tight circle like an ice dancer. Her arms above her head. A black cigarette in her mouth glowed in the dark. He couldn't help but smile when she handed it over for him to hit. She flipped her impossibly long hair over the left shoulder.

"In the movie Xanadu IS Heaven, Little Mouse."

She leaned back, elbows on the low barrier surrounding the floor and stared out on to the anonymous blurs resembling other skaters in togas. Who roller skates in Olympus?

Honey began skating again side to side, dancing in earnest now with the soft swell of Olivia Newton-John. Her dark eyes met his.

"It's Greek and dreamy and fun and kitschy. And beautiful. It's cozy. Like a home."

"Sure? But she still chooses.." He thinks for a moment. "Wait. Listen to what you described this as. It's Leon isn't it?"

"Leon.." Honey bites her thumbnail and narrows her eyebrows in thought. "That's who I keep waiting for, isn't it? I think I forgot? I got to the roller-disco before Leon. He doesn't even like roller skating!”

A sudden sadness filled her while she gazed in his direction.

"Honey?" He rolled out to meet her. He rubbed her arms speckled with goosebumps.

She reached a hand to touch his cheek. Tender. He leaned into it with a sigh. "I died without Leon. Without you both, Klaus.”

This was the first time he had cried since mastering the Void. The first time he realized death isn't lonely for the dead.

"I'm not always alone.." He must've said that last thought out loud. "Various family members float in and out. Fuzzy flashes of the Littles. Their laughter. Selina's lavender soap and those wide brown eyes that conquered the world. Nicklaus's mop of hair. The way he smelled like a boy," Honey scrunched her nose. "But also like a summer day? Was always hard to explain. It was like his skin was made from sunshine. You were all so afraid of the dark, but you are made up of that beautiful blue light."

She smiled a crooked smile. "I guess the point is, being dead makes you forget about the living. I suppose that's unless you can walk the line between both?" She gave a nonplussed shrug. "I certainly thought my Nicklaus would've come by now. or Irina. I guess your gift probably makes moving on worse.”

It was a thought, not a question.

"Honey-" She pressed a finger to his lips. "Do we even get to be together when.. if he dies?"

"I went through hundreds of dimensions to get to you. Trust me, we're made of the same blood. He'll find you. And he'll stay. For you."

"I hope." Honey clutched her chest. "Fuck. I can't believe I couldn't remember that I'm supposed to miss him. My babies. You."

"Welcome to the Afterlife."

A flash of pain crossed Honey's face before she sort of went blank. Then Thelma Houston started playing from somewhere above them. "I LOVE THIS SONG! Remember when we got really fucked up on coke? Luther and Sloane took the kids. We wore skates to Studio 54 and got Leon to ride a horse. NAKED!!" Honey cackled and rolled backwards.

She held her wrist aloft, her watch always facing inward, and checked the time. "Klaus!" she shouted over the music. Her hips rocked along with her. "Where's Leon?! He was taking Sugar Moon and Sunny to my sister's. Think he'll be here?" She giggled "I am dreadfully bored without him!"

Sunny watched her skate off. He could never correct his mom for calling him Klaus. Who also never returned from The Void years ago.

"Soon, Mama. Papa will be here soon."

Hmmmm. Fave thing about Rob and his roles; I love that I can look at Nathan and then look at Rob on the Earth Locker and know and appreciate that he's the same person, but my brain literally has difficulty connecting the two. Like I can't believe that's the same guy. Haha. Despite so many similarities, a lot of his roles are SO different. Our little chameleon. 😍

My first time at my city’s major film festival

ended up seeing Dorian Gray which is a bizarre movie to begin with. I wanted to see The Informant but it sold out right away so I settled for this without knowing much about it

nearly got killed by middle aged male autograph collectors who were rushing the red carpet to get autographs from a then teen-heartthrob, weird AF

screening was jokes because half the audience was people who were into Narnia seeing a film that’s like 1/4 sex scenes and the other half were ~filme people~ watching something way cheesier than they expected and everyone laughed throughout the movie

I also found myself with a big ol crush on Ben Barnes myself that I was trying my best to hide from everyone under the pretense of being a film buff or whatever

I also extremely randomly met George Clooney earlier that day

idk man i was 17, it was my first week of university and I couldn’t stop laughing the whole time. Good memories.

11 years later I go to TIFF every year, I’ve worked the festival for the past 4, I work in film festivals/exhibiton in general, and it’s my favourite thing in the entire world

Ben Barnes has never been back to Festival lmao

*Write a 300 word love scene for them: I chose Darren x Jeanie*

Jeanie wasn’t quite sure how to handle her situation. There was a warm feeling in her chest that blossomed like the red flowers outside their not quite house.

She fiddled in the kitchen eating candied ginger. She tamed her hair as best she could given the humidity and debated joining Darren down at the water. But he liked the quiet of their private beach where he nursed a beer for hours while he fished.

Darren Treacy fished. He let his hair get shaggy, his goatee shaggier. He played cricket with Aussie ex-pats. He relaxed and swam and gave enough money to the resort owners who offered to sell it to him and Jeanie.

Jeanie let out a deep breath that blew a stray hair from her forehead. She waited half a year for the shoe to drop, but no one came for them except Mary. She had never seen Darren smile so genuinely. Or his eyes turned that shade of ocean. Mary and the girls were just a few cottages down.

His ears must have burned because suddenly Dazz filled the doorway. He was singing, which was new. He carried a basket in one hand and hid his other behind his back.

“Tell me what you would do, if her hair were red and her eyes were..” Jeanie blinked expectedly at her boyfriend who had to think. He gave up with a grin.

Darren set the basket by the stone oven in the corner, and humming he took Jeanie with his free hand and spun her in towards him then back out. “I took her hand and gave her a twirl,” he went back to singing.

Jeanie's stomach churned. She giggled in spite of it and let Darren dip her playfully. He produced the most beautiful blue purple orchids.

Upright again, Jeanie held them to her nose. “I know how much ye love t’at van Gogh painting. I reckon they're the same color as the night sky.” He told her with a kiss on the neck. Then clung to her hips.

“I'm pregnant.” The words burst from her like a busted dam.

Darren rocked back on his heels, “Ye taking the piss?”

Jeanie shook her red curls. She searched his face for any emotion. In a rush of arms and feet off the floor, legs around a thin waist, Darren hurried them to the bed where he laid her down gently. His long body is awkward while it bent to kiss her deeply. Then he lifted the tee shirt she wore to kiss her stomach gently.

She giggled and held Darren's head to her. “I've got a family again," was all he could whisper.
