Can't stop thinking about Brian telling Jennifer and Justin at Vic's funeral that he'd rather die young in a blaze of glory than get sick whilst he's secretly battling cancer. He literally tells them he'd rather go to ibiza and party until he dies than lose himself to illness in the eyes of others. And we actually see him do this exact scenario when he sneaks off to ibiza so he's always had an escape plan from life in the back of his head. Like Brian's whole journey with youth and beauty being his core identity and thinking he's not worth much beyond that is so sad. He was going to take his life at thirty, THIRTY YEARS OLD because to him that was life over and yes beyond the common dramatic breakdowns associated with reaching that age that's so bleak.

He never saw himself having a long life or even a reason to keep living but when you parallel that with his mindset in 4x14 after his speech to Michael about how surviving cancer meant he could survive anything. Ending the season with a declaration about how he wants to spend more time with Gus being a proper dad and asking Justin to live with him because he wanted him around all the time - he chose life that day he wanted to live and that's something so beautiful to me.
