Okay so it’s a musical and it’s about edgar allan poe as told by this like troupe of traveling players but in the end during his death scene they’re his characters tormenting him and if you listen to the original recording it’s the whole musical dialogue and everything, they do really cool stuff with their violins and percussion and the costuming is really bizarre and pretty—

There was a man, a most peculiar
Man. his tale a most peculiar
Tale - of mystery and horror -
And of unrelenting woe.
Have an Edgar Allan Poe from the musical Nevermore.
Does this belong on my OC blog? no!
But I love this musical so so much. so here it is!
Everything about this musical is just 😙👌
I’m just sad cause I’m five years late to the party and the show has closed. And truthfully I don’t think anyone could do this show as wildly well as the cast of the Catalyst Theatre

take this kiss upon your brow
and in parting from you now
dream away these bitter times
dream until the church bell chimes
and when hope has flown away
in a night or in a day
remember this: when all is done
the dream is only just begun

“There are thoughts
That will not part
That will not leave us in peace
And there are visions
Dark and sinister
That never will cease
A darkened tide
Of endless pride
A mystery and a dream
A dream so fraught
A wild thought
The same somnambulant theme
All that we see
All that we seem
Is but a dream within a dream”

just watched house of usher and it reminded me to talk about one of my favorite cast recordings ever, nevermore - the imaginary life and mysterious death of edgar allan poe. it has a traveling circuses, ghost stories, and lots of interesting themes and motifs about how our narratives haunt us. it’s a show no one really knows and i just wanted to talk about it <3

i've finally finished adding the lyrics to every single track of Nevermore: The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe (listen to it it's good, very good, i mean it) and I'm looking back at the ones I did two odd months ago... There are mistakes aplenty that I cannot fix because Musixmatch restricted the lyrics I'm losing it

You guys don’t get it…. What’s more than all of these things combined that inspired these thrilling sensations…. was the way the two of them shared the same strange and morbid preoccupations……..

To my theatre kids;
I think that if you tell someone your top ten musicals... it says a lot about your personality and who you are in general.
