The Fairmonts care about their image and themselves before anything else, Margot was willing to let Elinor stay in prison, and let Calliope be taken by the police if it means that her image and herself are protected. Elinor used, or rather tried to use, Juliette as a plot device to reach her dream of being the next keeper of the snake, as @neversatisfiedwithlife pointed out, and didn't care about Juliette's feelings regarding killing in general

Meanwhile Talia immediately showed her gratitude to Juliette after she learned that she saved her daughter's life and assured her that they'll spare her from the police, and also rescued her son from his father and brought him in her opinion somewhat safe place to stay in order to keep him alive, even when he was turned into a vampire, a creature she was trained to hate and kill.

And yet the Fairmonts are the one who are given the most sympathy

How Canadian are you feeling today? 🇨🇦🇨🇦

I felt about as Canadian today as I do every other day.

I didn't celebrate at all. Especially this year, with the things that have been coming out recently about residential schools, Canada day isn't really something that feels like it should be celebrated.

If you're not familiar with Canadian residential schools, it was a system of boarding schools mandated by the Canadian government and run by Christian churches. It was designed specifically to remove Indigenous children from their own cultures and assimilate them.

The last residential school closed in 1997. I was alive in 1997. This was happening 25 years ago. This is recent.

Obviously the premise itself is awful. And beyond that, we already knew there was a lot of mistreatment and abuse happening at the schools. But this year they've started finding mass unmarked graves. In the past two months they've found nearly 1000 bodies, mostly children, at three former residential schools.

Nearly one thousand bodies.

Mostly children.

At three schools.

There were well over 100 residential schools. And this is only what's been found in the past two months at three schools.

So, yeah. Not exactly feeling like celebrating.

#I appreciate the thought but it feels disingenuous to act like I had a good Canada day #when this is what we've been learning about Canada's (recent) history lately #sorry to get so dark I honestly planned to just say I didn't celebrate and leave it at that #but... it's just... In honor of me and my homies eagerly awaiting atypical I will have a special ask for each day until the new season-

Who's your favorite character? When did you know? And what character trait do you like most about them? 💖

Oooooh.. hmmm my top fav is probably Casey (but god it’s so hard to choose)! I’m not sure when she became my “favorite” but I was drawn to her from the very beginning of the show. I love that she tries to come off as super tough & intimidating but really she is an awkward ball of sunshine who gets flustered so easily! She can be so shy and unsure of herself which makes her that much more endearing + relatable to me. I also adore how much of a shit stirrer she can be (true comedy queen) but at the same time she is one of the most caring & protective people when it comes to those she loves!!<33

I’m also gonna give an honorable mention to a character that I feel is way over hated and really misunderstood which is Elsa!! I know she tends to be a very unpopular/controversial character but I think a lot of people overlook her good traits and instead focus on just the bad ones. Basically every character (at least the main ones) are extremely flawed. There are numerous moments during the show where I am annoyed with Elsa and view her behavior/actions as being wrong.. but this goes for every character. During my rewatch, I have started to truly appreciate and at times really sympathize with her. Even though she’s made many mistakes she was truly the backbone of the Gardner family for so many years and without a doubt she cares so deeply about her family. Another thing I love is that Elsa is very different from many of the type of roles we see when it comes to middle aged mothers/wives in media. She’s extremely nuanced and there is so much detail given when it comes to her personality.. she’s quirky & funny yet also can be very strict & stubborn yet also somehow is one of the most and least socially aware people! I just really appreciate her character and her growth over the seasons and will be interested to see her story in this last season! :)

What do you think the love languages would be for these kurt ships: Kadam, Hevans, St.Hummel, Puckkurt?

Kadam should be straight forward as to why, Adam loves to compliment Kurt ❤️

St. Hummel is kinda based on St. Berry and how Jesse works with Rachel, he'd also compliment Kurt a lot... In his own way while also complimenting himself in the process lol

Hevans is because they just... Spend time at the Hudmel house a lot, sitting in the same room doing different things while snuggled together (so also Physical Touch I guess) Sam likes experiences as dates, doing things that are free or cheap but still fun. Picnics and stargazing, trips to thrift shops and letting Kurt dress him, visiting museums and iconic spots in New York. Etc.

I don't know why I immediately thought Acts of Service for Puckurt, but I can see Puck trying to make up for his past bullying with Kurt by doing nice things for him. Holding out doors, pulling out chairs, being a gentleman. Kurt thinks he's treating him as a girl at first and is annoyed about it, but that's just what Puck has seen in media to do when you like someone.

And I added Klaine for receiving gifts because it's basically canon. Ring scene, Margret Thatcher dog, the puppets, flowers.

HOW I WATCH A TV SHOW OR ANY VISUAL MEDIA.

I don’t know if I can say I actually watch a TV show to watch a TV show. I feel like I only watch a TV show to create my own meaning or philosophy out of it through the information I can perceive in and of it.

Is that shallow?

Or is that so deep few want to dive in it?

I genuinely don’t like watching anything unless I can learn something out of it or be inspired/motivated by it. I take the morals within it to both heart and mind. An education is my main priority with any visual media I give my time, energy and attention to. I wish to learn.

If I am not offered that - I immediately lose interest.

Again, is that shallow or is that just too deep?

Am I ignorant or do I just require more stimulation?

I don’t have to be explained everything in a TV show because I don’t have to understand everything in it.

What isn’t explained or what I don’t understand I simply just analyze and answer for myself. Effectively creating my own meaning in whatever I am watching.

I throw canon out of the window if I feel it isn’t good enough or it doesn’t serve me in any way and instead of rant about it and go attacking the writers of it… I just create my own personal canon for it instead.

I have always said that art and entertainment is not meant for impressing,… it’s meant for expressing.

And if I feel what I need from it isn’t already there.

I will put it there.

That is the way I “watch” a TV show or any visual media…. Any art/entertainment of the visual kind.

I don’t simply just watch it. I become part of it.

And simultaneously and seamlessly, it also becomes part of me. I refer to this experience with the visual as artistic interpretation out of personal perception.

I am first and foremost a creator over a consumer.

Of course I will support, but I have to have reason to. And 9 times out of 10, the reason is because I have the freedom and the space to make it my own. And that’s why I actually watch very few TV shows. Because most of them TELL YOU EVERYTHING that you have no room to CREATE ANYTHING YOURSELF!

And so yet again I ask - shallow or deep? Because the general consensus that watch TV shows or any visual media prefer to be told rather than taught. Prefer to just consume what they’re given and not create it. Prefer to be spoon fed all the details rather than use their imagination and intelligence to understand it. You can definitely be sure the general consensus would rather watch a TV show than read a book because reading a book requires mental effort.

That being said,… I can only interact with the visual… if it requires me to use my mind. If it doesn’t - I’m already done with it. It is already turned off…

… and I will go read a book instead. Because what a book gives me is only a guideline. I do the rest myself.
