#new mutants trailer

The New Mutants ad circa 1983 by Bill Sienkiewicz & my piece (fan-art).

Believe it or not, this ad was my inspiration for the lighting and design of my piece. This might be the single most influential piece of New Mutants art that I looked at over and over again as a little kid. It was so weird, so “real” looking. I remember being jealous of this picture. I think I thought it was a photo at first. I was 9yrs old. Anyhow, fast forward to 2017 and the first trailer for The New Mutants Movie is here and wow. Those kids are in there. Now, I have no idea if I’m gonna like it or not. Already the seemingly “horror” angle has people split. That might just be a marketing tactic. I mean these kids are unknown, not like the X-Men. I’m just hoping for the best.

Anyhow, that’s the story behind this piece.

The NEW MUTANTS Trailer came out …

*Fan-Art: Movie Version**

I’ll be honest. First viewing of trailer I wasn’t feeling it. Later,I saw a breakdown of it, and paid attention to the content beyond the scarefest. I think there’s some solid origin stuff in there. I’m feeling hopeful. Here’s some fan art. Trailer Fan-Art is a thing, right?

X-Men: The New Mutants | Official Trailer

:: I forgot this was being worked on!
This looks like the breath of fresh comicbook movies needed. Well…breath of death and decay? Breath of horrific screams? Whatever, gimme more of this and less of every story eventually just becoming about Charles/Eric.

If FOX wanted to move forward with solo-films like this, with alllllllllll the crazy amount of side-characters that the franchise has, while giving the main X-Men back to Disney to drop them into the MCU, I’d be happy.

“This is the story of a young soldier who hasn’t seen the world end a bunch so he’s more fun and untethered,” Duggan says. “[Phil Noto] and I have the same ideas for Cable. I think we’re gonna surprise some people. If you think you know Cable, you don’t.”
