[Trick or Treat!] 🎃 (‼️My MC Alice‼️)
Celebrating Halloween <<<< Making Halloween themed Fanart.
I love how we got a second batch of Halloween outfits this year, and I simply adore them! Lucifer looks so cute as Vampire…! My MC goes as a witch this year, and the outfit is basically F!Corrin’s Harvest Festival Costume from Fire Emblem Heroes. (Of course, the OG Witch Design is from FE Fates hehe…). You know….since my MC is also my Fatesona and all hohoh…Also for a strange reason, the other demons were transformed into tiny ghosts! (°ロ°) !
It’s still a little early for Halloween, but Oct. 31st is Diavolo’s Birthday, and I’ve got something up my sleeve.
Hope you like it though! 🐦‍⬛🦚👻

also hewwo i’ve vaguely returned to fic writing thanks to engage and as part of getting better at promoting my work uuhhh here (throws breadcrumbs in one convenient post)
All the following center around M!Alear/Alcryst (alearyst? alcrear? Alal? the utterly unhinged suggestion of alal-) because oops My Favorite Dynamic, generally written as standalone
Rutilated- 3.7k, taking place between chapters 14-15, slight focus on events in chapters 10-11. Insomnia from stress turned awkward flirting turned emotional comforting.
Intergrowth- A series of 6 drabbles totaling 2.5k that take place from chapter 7 through post-game in sporadic leaps. Covers a broad spectrum of crushing angst to fluff, arranged chronologically kind of like an outline of the relationship on the side of the main plot, built around the idea of moments where they held hands
Thanatophobia- 1.3k, post-game. Alear has a nightmare because (kiragi vc) war is heck! especially when you’re dragon jesus and go through protagonist bullshit that people somehow expect you to be just Okay With.
so yeah oops finally found fic topics to latch on to and remembered I might dare have a writing following/finding people who want to read over this way so if u find this post rad or interesting please have at it and enjoy!

I have an idea. So a medieval au!. So, reader was this royal scholar of sorts that spent all their time studying, and reading the secrets of the land, and they liked it… till they met Johnny. The spitfire from the neighboring kingdom. Wild, so carefree, he was everything reader wasn’t, and that drew them together.
In the day, reader and Johnny would play fight in the castle gardens, running from guards and tutors that tried to sit them down; in the night, they’ll sneak out of the castle walls, into the forest, to the highest peek. He’ll lay his head in their lap, gazing at the stars, or them, and reader recites a story for them.
So, this happened for a long time, and they grow up, reader,to an exemplary royal advisor while Johnny now had reached the age of corrination. They move their relationship forward, and wed; giving each Al other their rings, He promises reader that they’ll never leave them, never leave this kingdom… that he’ll be their king and their lover.
But, fate has other plans and war strikes. The kingdom is in trouble and MacTavish has to leave, but not before your love has bored life, either through surrogacy, adopting, or the good old fucking. Anyway, he leaves you and your unborn to fight, and three mouths go by, and you’re holding your to months old boy in your arms when a messenger arrives. Their face is solem, as they kneel and present Johnnys fur coat, caked in blood, and torn in places. The king, has fallen.
It was a sad say at the funeral, his mother sobbing on the ground as they carry a close coffin to the grave. John MacTavish, king , husband, son and father, was buried. And on that day, you wore your battle amor, draped on his fur coat, and went, to purge the land.
And for five years, that’s exactly what you do. You go to each kingdom, conquering it, in the name of the late king. Slaughtering men and women who dare stand in your way, leaving with a new kingdom, and blood on your hands. But, one day, you pillaged and small but thriving town, and doing the routine, rounding the men together to either be captured or killed…. And when they brought them to you, one stood out.
He was shorter Thant the three other people he was with, with a very vivid mohawk. You ignored the other men, walking up to the stranger, and raising up his head….
“J-Johnny?”
And cliffhanger! Honestly, there’s a lot that I wanted to add, but I really want to hear from you about any ideas you have for this Au. Anyway thanks for reading!
From the hobbit hole,
J.J

“we are the creators of our own happiness and suffering, for everything originates in the mind”
Tumblr media
after reading this in a book, i got out of bed, where i was letting myself dwell on negative things in my life, and instead made a list of the bad and good. it’s valid to be upset at the things in our lives that aren’t going our way, but it’s so much more important to appreciate the good that is on its way. for example, instead of letting myself get overwhelmed by all the work i have to do for school, i appreciate the fact that i’m going to university this year, and going to a whole new city!
of course you’re going to think that everything is going wrong if you can’t take a moment to appreciate what’s going right!
love, corrin 🎀

Hey! So, I said I might make a list of Fire Emblem modding links, so here it is! Before anything, be sure you have a hacked 3DS so you can mod your games. You can load mods directly onto a hacked 3DS OR you can use a hacked 3DS to dump your games and play them on an emulator.
If you haven't hacked your 3DS yet, follow this guide to do so! It's easy and super safe!
As for if you want to emulate, you can download the citra emulator here. Just be aware that the emulator can be demanding and not all games function great (all the Fire Emblem games are functional, though).
Now, as for game modding, here are a few of my favorite things to use as well as some interesting mods others enjoy. Feel free to share mods you enjoy and I'll add them to this list.
General Modding
Paragon - This in and of itself is not a mod. However, if you're interested in dipping your toes in trying to create your own mods, this is a good starting point! This tool provides you with a friendly user interface to mess with the code of the game and create your own custom mods (don't worry, you don't need to know how to code).
Fire Emblem Awakening
Unofficial Gay Awakening - As the name says it adds gay supports in Awakening. I can't really add anything here.
Project Thabes - This is an overhaul of Awakening, akin to a sort of remix. The idea is fixing up some issues with story, rebalancing, and remixing maps. Definitely an interesting project to check out if you want a fresh experience with the game.
Awakening HD - This is just mod to upscale textures. Really meant for people playing the game on citra, not hardware.
Twin Morgans - Y'know. If you want double the Morgan. :)
Reverse Recruitment Order - Excluding Chrom, Robin, and Lucina, all units are obtained in reverse order. Something fun to mix up your game.
Fates Stances - If you came to really love the stance system in Fates, good news! This mod implements the stance system into Awakening. Yeah, it's less broken, but way more fun.
Gender-Lock Removal - You want male pegasus knights and female barbarians? Here they are. Need I say more?
Fire Emblem Fates
Unofficial Gay Fates - It's as the name says: a mod to add gay supports to Fates. Though it's not just gay, it also generally adds additional supports between characters.
Ignis - This is a Fates randomizer that allows you to customize your own experience. This can randomize recruitment order, chest/village items, skills, classes, stats, and so on. I've been using this for years, so I can vouch for its fun and stability.
Fates HD - Just a mod to upscale textures. Meant for people playing the game on citra, not hardware.
Before Fates - This mod is currently a work in progress, but it's meant to expand the backstory in Fates. While it's incomplete, it's definitely worth keeping an eye on.
Fates Retranslation+ - If you kinda hate the translation of Fates, good news! This mod retranslates the entire game to better match the original Japanese version. It also adds some minor patches, but the idea of this mod is to fix the English translation.
Princess Personals - Legendary weapons for the princesses. Because they earned it. :)
Non-Binary Corrin - For all my non-binary pals out there, someone made a mod to make all references to Corrin gender-neutral. (Note: the mod creator is remaking the mod due to some issues.)
Playable Lilith - Do you love Lilith? Sad that she's stuck being killed off in routes and is otherwise unplayable? Well, this mod adds her as a playable character. Do it for her.
Face-Lift - This mod does some edits to characters to update things like skin tones and eye colors to look more natural/better match parents (like giving Benny darker skin rather than grey skin). It has a regular version for hardware and HD version for citra users who like having the HD mod.
Fire Emblem Echoes
Route Swap - Just a funky little mod that swaps the two parties. So now Celica and crew are on Alm's journey and vice versa.
Installing Mods
3DS
Assuming your 3DS is hacked, you should be using luma to mod games. Once you have your mod files, installing them is extremely easy. Load up your SD card and go into luma > titles and create a folder with the corresponding title id to your game.
Once you have a folder for your game, drop the mod files within (remember to unzip them, and they should be a romfs folder). If done correctly, it should look something like this.
Tumblr media
There's one final step before you run your modded game, though! Reinsert your SD card in your 3DS and then hold SELECT while powering the console on. The luma config menu should come up. Select "Enable game patching" then press START to save.
You only ever have to do this luma step once. So once you've enable game patching, you can freely switch out mods on your 3DS and they'll run automatically. If you want to disable mods, either delete them from your SD card or disable game patching.
Citra
Just like with hardware, modding games on citra is extremely easy. All you have to do is open citra, right click the game you want to mod, and click "Open Mods Location" from the menu like below.
Tumblr media
This will create/open a mod folder for the title you selected. Just like on the 3DS, all you have to do is insert your mod folder here. It should be inside a romfs folder like below.
Tumblr media
If you did everything correctly, then your mods should take effect when you next run your game on citra.

Summary: Connor convinces Myriam to start her new life with Norris. Set during "The Wedding" Homestead mission between the chase sequence and the wedding scene. Hope you guys enjoy!
Connor would be the first to admit that he knew little to nothing about colonial wedding customs. Aside from a few comprehensive history and culture lessons from his teen years when he first traveled to Achilles, Connor knew nothing about the complexities of colonial weddings. Father Timothy had been kind enough to explain a few key details, such as “giving” Myriam away at the altar (which Connor was more than happy to do for his old friend), but details slipped Connor’s mind from time to time over the next several days of intense planning and preparation.
But there was one thing that Connor was sure they did not include: chasing the bride in question through the snow-covered trees minutes before her wedding.
The day began with as much chaos as one would expect. Before the roosters began to crow, nearly every member of the Homestead bustled about preparing for the joyous celebration. Oliver and Corrine worked hard preparing their finest wines for the occasion while preparing the livestock meat and crops gathered by Warren and Prudence – and of course, little baby Hunter, who cooed excitedly against his mother’s back. Once finished organizing the food, Prudence and Corrine joined the ladies in adorning Myriam in fine, comfortable fabrics suitable for the huntress. Ellen poked needles into the sides to ensure the stitching was up to par, while Diana and Catherine squawked at Connor and Norris for accidentally stepping near the bride’s suite (which Connor did not dare remind the ladies was his home).
In the meantime, Big Dave and Lance worked tirelessly to adorn both the inn and the church with banners and decor fit for the Homestead’s very first wedding. Big Dave lifted the chubby woodworker up to pin the wooden posts on the side of the inn, waving to Terry and Godfrey as the lumberers warned Norris of the horrors of marriage to come.
“You’ll ne’er be right ‘bout anythin’ again, ya hear me, boy?” Godfrey teased as he slapped his palm against Norris’s back.
“Aye, and forget about havin’ the covers to yerself! You’ll be shiverin’ like a leaf!” Terry explained. Norris merely laughed and shook his head.
In the church, Dr. White and Achilles aided Father Timothy in preparing his short sermon, arranging the pews, and finishing the final touches hours before the wedding. Even the Assassin recruits were more than happy to help with the preparations. Stephane set to work in the kitchen alongside Oliver to cater the large meal ahead. Duncan, ever the Catholic, assisted Father Timothy in rehearsing his sermon. Jacob offered his wisdom for marriage while he straightened Norris’s hair, while Dobby stood guard outside Myriam’s dressing room in case of wandering eyes from stray men. Clipper and Jamie helped Mr. Faulkner and the crew of the Aquila find their drunken ways to the church, all while Connor wandered about and assisted where he could.
So, given the day’s chaotic events, it was not surprising to Connor as he announced happily to the pacing Norris that all was in order that Myriam was “missing.” After all, the ladies had only just left her room. How much trouble could the huntress find herself in?
Apparently, thought Connor as he raced through the trees and leapt through the branches, quite a lot.
“Leave me be!” Myriam shouted as she jumped to the next branch, a stray branch slowing her down as it caught on her white dress. It was not enough to stop her, but it was enough for Connor to come within speaking distance.
“Why do you run?!” Connor replied, his voice echoing through the forest with concern lacing his tone. He swung to the next branch, careful not to slip and even more careful to ensure Myriam did not.
“Leave me be!” Myriam exclaimed. She crossed over to the next tree in an attempt to throw Connor off her trail. “I’m no housewife!”
Connor’s brow furrowed. While he could not necessarily speak for the entire Homestead, “housewife” would be one of the last descriptors attributed to Myriam. She was a huntress, and a respectable one at that. Through his confusion, Connor quickly ducked through another tree and sprinted across the large, sturdy branch. “No one thinks you are one!”
Myriam slid down a fallen tree, stumbling into the snow before whirling around to face Connor. “That’s what all of this means!”
A silence passed between the two as flurries of snow cascaded around them. Myriam sighed, grabbing her crown of flowers and tossing it to the ground. She sunk to the snowy ground and hid her face in her knees.
Quietly, Connor knelt beside Myriam. Lifting the flower crown into his hands, he joined her in the blanket of snow. He said nothing, only silently thumbing the daffodils adorning her crown. The two sat for a moment while gazing over the rushing river, watching as it cascaded over weathered rocks. Myriam reached forward and threw one into the water. When it sank to the bottom of the river, she huffed angrily through her nose.
“I don’t want to be some housewife that sits around waiting for her husband to come home,” she explained, tossing her hands into the air in frustration. “That’s not who I am. I’m not… I’m not some lady wanting to be kept pregnant and barefoot!”
“No one thinks you are one,” Connor repeated gently. Myriam shot a glare at the hulking man, Connor shrinking in on himself in response despite his size.
“That’s what this means! This whole wedding! Shoving me into this stuffy dress, preparing me to take vows, giving me away!” She stood, pacing by the riverside. She gave Connor an apologetic look. “No offense. If I want anyone to give me away, it would be you.”
Connor rose and nodded his head. “None taken. But what is it that causes you to believe that you will become a housewife?”
Rubbing the bridge of her nose, Myriam groaned before settling her hands on her hips and staring out into the river. “I… I don’t know!” She tossed her hands in the air again, rustling her hair and pacing back and forth. “I don’t belong inside a house cooking and cleaning and caring for a husband and an entire brood of children. I belong in the open air, in my hunting blinds, with my rifle in my hands!” Her hands formed the gesture of her weapon in question. Then, they fell to her sides. “If I marry Norris… I’ll be leaving behind all of my freedom that I worked so hard to gain.”
Stepping closer, Connor laid a hand on Myriam’s back. “That is not true,” he murmured quietly. “You know that better than I. Norris wants only for you to be happy.”
“Do I?” Myriam asked. Her voice faltered and she turned her nose to the rushing river. “What if, when we get married, all he wants is for me to sit at home and… I don’t know, wash his feet?”
Connor unintentionally wrinkled his nose. At the very least, the gesture provided a quick laugh for the two hunters. The uncomfortable silence returned soon after, broken only by the sounds of quiet chirping and rustling bushes.
“Norris did not fall in love with a housewife,” Connor finally spoke up. He met Myriam’s gaze with his own, gentle eyes. “Why would he expect such?”
“All men do,” Myriam sighed.
“I do not.”
“You are not all men.”
Connor glanced down at the flower crown in his hands, thumbing over the white petals. “Perhaps I am not.”
Myriam pinched her nose again. “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to offend–”
“No, it is alright,” Connor assured her. His brows furrowed in thought while Myriam squinted into the horizon. Then, a candle sparked in his mind. “How much do you know of my people, Myriam?”
“I don’t see the point of your question,” Myriam remarked tersely. When Connor gave a serious expression, she sighed. “But to answer it, not much.”
He moved in front of Myriam. “I think you would like it very much. For my people, it is the women who lead. We may have chiefs and war councils, but these men are voted upon by our women. Clan Mothers lead the village. We trace our ancestry through our mothers. For women, marriage is not just a union of the husband and wife, but of the village to the couple.”
Myriam raised a brow. “Your point?”
Placing the flower crown upon her head, Connor continued. “You are not a housewife, but even if you were, it would not change who you are. You are a skillful leader and hunter. Norris knows this. He marries you because of it, not in spite of it. He admires you for who you are. You need be nothing else. And by marrying Norris, you unite our friends as a whole, too.”
Silently, Myriam adjusted the crown and tucked stray strands of hair behind her ears. “Do you really think so?”
“I know so.” He cracked a rare smile. “Besides, you are a better shot than Norris. If anyone will be the housewife, it will be him.”
Myriam snorted. “The bad part is that I think he would enjoy being a housewife.” Her shoulders shook as she began to laugh. “Could you imagine? Me, coming home with a pipe of tobacco sticking out of my mouth, my rifle on my back, and hares in my hands while Norris cooks and cleans?”
Connor chuckled, then gently led Myriam towards the path leading to the church. “But you cannot imagine such a fate until you are wed.”
“No,” Myriam smiled, “I suppose I can’t.” As they reached the church, Myriam turned to Connor with a mixture of fear and excitement.
“I’m scared.”
Connor nodded. “I know.”
“What do I do?”
“What do you do when you face a cougar?”
“I shoot it. Are you suggesting I shoot Norris?”
“No, but I am suggesting that you face him like you would any animal.” He laid his hands on her shoulders, squeezing gently. “You are a strong, cunning woman, Myriam. He loves you deeply. He would not be marrying you if he had no intention of respecting you.”
Myriam inhaled sharply. “How do I get over it?”
“The fear?”
“No, the weather – what else would there be?”
“You won’t,” chimed a gentle, soft voice. Prudence and Ellen emerged from behind the church. Ellen offered Myriam her bouquet of flowers while Prudence wrapped a white shawl around her shivering shoulders. Prudence patted her cheek. “When I married Warren years ago, I was terrified of our future. But you learn, in marriage, that you are both equally frightened.” She giggled along with Ellen and Myriam.
Ellen took Myriam’s hands in her own. “My marriage was an unhappy one,” she confessed. Connor looked on solemnly, catching Ellen’s somber gaze for a mere second before Ellen mustered a smile. “But I can offer this wisdom: a good husband will cherish his wife for her talents, her wit, her love, her devotion, and her faith. Norris practically worships the ground you walk on. He will make a fine husband.”
Myriam sniffled. “Fuck,” she cursed. “I can’t believe I’m crying like some… some old hag!” Prudence and Ellen laughed, rubbing Myriam’s shoulders before holding her tightly.
“Besides,” Prudence cooed, staring over Myriam’s shoulder into Connor’s watchful gaze, “once we have you and Norris married, we can finally focus our attention on finding Connor a wife.”
Cheeks flushing, Connor brought his fist to his mouth and cleared his throat. “That will not be necessary.”
“Oh, hush, Prudence,” Ellen giggled. “We mustn't scare him from the prospect yet.” She turned back to Myriam, kissing her cheek. “We have to go back inside, but we will support you no matter what.” Prudence nodded in agreement before waving goodbye, giggling alongside Ellen as they hurried into the church.
Myriam rubbed her arms and faced Connor, walking with him up the steps. “You will be there every step of the way?”
“Every step,” Connor assured.
“Okay.”
“How do you feel?”
“Terrified. Like I want to run away again,” Myriam chuckled breathlessly. Connor hummed and looped his arm with hers.
“I will be there regardless. I am sure Norris will be as well.”
Myriam smiled. “Thank you, Connor.”
“You do not need to thank me. You are my friend.”
She stood on her tiptoes, pressing her frigid lips to Connor’s freckled cheek. “No, but I will. Thank you.”
Blushing, Connor cleared his throat and led Myriam to the entrance of the church, where the guests began to rise as they spotted the bridge.
“Prudence and Ellen are right, though. We must find you a bride,” she whispered, doing her best to ignore the endless amount of eyes upon her and Connor.
Connor chuckled, patting her hand. “I can only hope she is not as fast nor agile as you.”
“Ha, ha. Who knew you had such a sense of humor?”
Years later, when Connor would find himself fidgeting in front of his betrothed’s longhouse, Myriam would loop her arm with his, kiss his flustered cheek, and walk him into the longhouse with the same kindness he had shown her before.
Luckily for Connor, his wife did not run into the trees. How fortunate he was indeed.

In the year 1340, with the relentless approach of winter, a somber cloud of foreboding cast its shadow over Bagley Castle. Beneath a moonlit snowstorm, the royal family of Bagley convened in King Thomas's chambers. His grace lay gravely ill, a pale reflection of the powerful monarch he had been. Queen Priscilla, his devoted wife, cradled her ailing husband in her arms, the fever coursing through him like a relentless tempest.
King Thomas's children, Prince Henry, his wife Princess Philippa, their young son Harold, and Thomas's youngest daughter, Princess Corrine, stood by, sharing a somber vigil. Queen Cordelia, Thomas's eldest daughter and the Queen of Windenburg, was also present. They had all come to bid farewell to their father, a truly remarkable man who had forged a sprawling empire, shaping their destinies into the annals of history. Amidst the quiet desperation of the chamber, Prince Henry held his sister Corrine close, a pillar of strength as she wept into his shoulder, unable to witness their once indomitable father in such a weakened state.
In a poignant moment of lucidity, Thomas summoned his son. Henry, his heart heavy, approached the bedside, gently taking hold of his father's frail, cold hand. Amid the vulnerability of illness, Thomas's eyes held paternal pride and deep affection as he praised his son.
In heartfelt words, Thomas spoke of his belief in Henry's potential to be a resolute and capable King after his own time had passed. In this solemn exchange, Henry pledged his unwavering commitment to honor his father's legacy and to serve the Kingdom with the utmost devotion.
Then, with waning strength, Thomas called his eldest daughter, Queen Cordelia, to his side. He professed his profound love for her and offered paternal counsel. He urged her to remain vigilant regarding her husband's actions and to watch over her younger brother. Cordelia, with a gentle caress, reassured her father. She spoke with the wisdom of a seasoned queen, promising that he would witness the sunrise for many more days to come.
Yet on the following morning, an unmistakable shift in the atmosphere settled over Bagley. It was an eerie silence, a void, which resounded with the loss left in the wake of King Thomas's passing. Queen Priscilla, her heart shattered, had been a witness to her beloved's final breath. At the age of 59, King Thomas of Bagley had departed from this world, leaving behind a kingdom and a family forever changed.
In the solemn quiet, with grief etched upon every face, the royal family paid their final respects to their fallen patriarch. The king was dressed in his resplendent regal attire, his presence preserved for eternity. As his family grieved, they knew that the burden of the realm now lay on the shoulders of the new king.
With King Thomas's body carried to The Cathedral of Saint Jacob, all eyes in the room turned toward the newly anointed King Henry and his queen, Philippa. They realized that the weight of leadership had descended upon them, a duty they would bear together. King Henry gazed into the future, fully aware of the challenges and responsibilities that awaited him. He pledged to be a just and equitable ruler, upholding his father's legacy in the grand tapestry of history.
In the days that ensued, the solemn mourning that had hung in the air within the grand halls of The Cathedral of Saint Jacob transformed into jubilant cheers. This time, the occasion was the coronation of King Henry and Queen Philippa. As the archbishop reverently lowered the crown upon Henry's head, the young king felt the physical and metaphorical weight of his impending reign.
Then, with grace and dignity, he turned to Queen Philippa and gently placed the radiant queen's crown upon her head. In a touching moment, a smaller, exquisitely crafted crown was positioned upon the head of their young son, Prince Harold. These regal rituals marked the commencement of a new era for the realm of Bagley.

I don't want to like, reblog anyone and directly put them on blast or anything, but like, the fact that people are suggesting that IS hates Male Avatars and will always prefer Female Avatars is so comical to me cause it's like literally the exact opposite.
Seriously go back and watch the trailers for Fates, not a single sign of F!Corrin, it's M!Corrin all the way through. And it's the exact same story with the trailers for Three Houses. In the major game trailers for 3H the only sign of F!Byleth is when they showed off the Avatar select screen in a Nintendo Direct and then used M!Byleth for the rest of the trailer anyway.
Also, worth noting stuff like M!Byleth being used for all of the tutorial screens in 3H, and the fact that all of the avatars are presented as Male by default in Smash Bros.
When it comes to pre-release stuff, IS always favor the M!Avatars, often, as we've seen in the trailers above, to the exclusion of the F!Avatars. The fact that F!Corrin and F!Byleth have ended up getting more attention from IS then their male counterparts in recent years is not because of favoritism from IS, it's because they ended up being the more popular version of the character and so IS pivoted from their initial decision to focus on the male versions of those characters.
Like, no hate to anyone who prefers the Male versions of these characters or is upset by M!Alear not making it into the first Engage banner, but to suggest that IS hates M!Avatars and prefers the women is just ludicrous when historically speaking, they've always initially chosen to highlight the men, and only reluctantly switched focus when the female version ends up being more popular.
Seriously, F!Alear getting into Heroes without an accompanying M!Alear is an unprecedented situation that flies in the face of how IS usually roll, not evidence of an ongoing trend.
Also, just a quick addendum because this topic annoys the hell out of me so I'm feeling a little petty. I do think it's worth noting two things when it comes to Byleth in particular.
When F!Byleth was finally treated as the "default" option in marketing, it was for Three Hopes, a game where Byleth is a relatively minor character and the real main character/new Avatar was advertised using, you guessed it, the male version of the character.
Despite being the more popular version of the character, F!Byleth still got left out of Engage in favor of her male counterpart. Likely because the game has been in development since before IS has a solid grasp on the relative popularity of 3H characters and as such they defaulted to using the man, like they always do.

The Marriage Pact
When Sloan and Chris become reunited and get more than a few drinks in their systems they remember something from their past, and it includes a marriage pact they made a decade ago. But the two decide to follow through with the agreement and get married!
warnings: mentions of sex, drinking, and swearing
word count: 2,750
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
“When I say birthday you say bitch!” My best friend Corrine shouts to the crowd of men at the bar
“Birthday”
“Bitch!”
“Birthday!”
“Bitch!!”
I shake my head at her as she remains standing on the bar stool across the way from me
I stare at the weird colored cocktail in my hands that she insisted I have
It’s extremely strong and very disgusting
“When Corrine texted me last week with an invite to celebrate your birthday I was honestly surprised.”
I look behind me quickly, seeing a very old friend that I haven’t spoken to in years
Chris smiles and hugs me tightly as I stare at him confused
“She invited you?”
“She invited a lot of people, clearly. How many of these people do you actually know Sloan?”
I look towards the groups of people and say “Probably about a fifth of them I’m acquainted with.”
His eyes widen as he laughs saying “Typical Corrine.”
“She sends out mass text messages, for all her parties. That’s where you come in, you must’ve accidentally been grouped in.”
He looks to me suspect saying “What you wouldn’t invite me by choice?”
I sigh saying “I don’t know, it’s been awhile.”
“Yeah it has, from what I’ve heard you’ve basically stopped acting?”
Shaking my head I say “Who told you that?”
He waves his phone saying “The internet. Your last show is going to be that sitcom? Really?”
“I need a break from acting. The roles I get are undeveloped and unenjoyable. I’m tired of playing the female arm candy in an action movie.”
“You’re done with Tom Cruises movies?”
I roll my eyes saying “Unless I get my own spin off, yeah.”
“That’s a shame. You’re so good at what you do, you need a better agent.”
Narrowing my eyes to him I say “It’s been at least 2 years since we’ve talked and this is what you want to talk about? What are you filming? Still at Marvel’s beck and call?”
He grumbles saying “funny. When you get a multi million dollar main character role you can have an opinion on my role but yeah I am still doing the marvel thing.”
“I can tell, you’re only in this good of shape when you’re filming marvel.”
“Thanks?”
I sigh and say “I also want a break to start a family or something. I’m ready to settle down.”
“Ah I see..”
“You want something to drink?” I ask
He nods saying “Yeah sure. What are you…having? Jesus what is that?” He motions towards the glittery glow in the dark drink in my hand
“It’s called a Sloan. Don’t ask me how Corrine thought of it, it’s nearly toxic waste.”
Chris looks over in the direction of our somewhat mutual friend getting men to shout in unison with her “I see she still has men wrapped around her finger.”
“She wouldn’t be Corrine if she couldn’t get men to wrap around her finger.”
“What’s she been up to in acting terms?”
I finish my drink and say “She’s in a new movie with Margot Robbie and Will smith.”
“Interesting pairing, I’ve gotta admit.”
I walk with him to the bar and the bartender says “What can I get you both?”
“Two more Sloan’s and also something drinkable.”
He smiles to us and Chris says “I’m not drinking that glittery toxic waste.”
“It’s my birthday are you forgetting that?”
“I hate when people leverage that. I already got you a gift. It’s in that disgustingly tall pile of gifts.”
“You owe me. It’s been 2 years since we’ve talked, you owe me.”
Grumbling he takes a sip as I carry the other drinks in my hands
He makes a face saying “It’s gross.”
I smile saying “good. Finish it.”
Shaking his head he says “this would kill my street cred y’know.”
“I’m sorry, what street cred?”
He scoffs as he finishes the drink and sets the glass down. He grabs the beer from my hand and says “I’m a beer guy, you know that.”
“And I’m a tequila gal, doesn’t mean Corrine cares.”
He nods and says “no family here today?”
I narrow my eyes to him saying “Surprised you didn’t read about that in the news.”
“What? What happened?”
Sighing I say “it is my birthday you know, and I really would like not discussing my family.”
“Fine, deal. No bringing up ex’s then.”
I smile saying “good. I was hoping you’d say that.”
“Does that mean you broke up with Garret??” He asks dumbfounded
Groaning I say “Don’t make me bring up Minka and Jessica.”
He groans loudly and says “I need more beer.”
He walks away and I follow as I laugh at his avoidance of the topic. I nudge him saying “Still want to ask about Garret?”
He narrows his eyes to me in annoyance as he pushes cash towards the bartender annoyed
“I’ll just ask him myself.”
I make a face and say “And Minka happens to go to the same spin class as me.” I smile to him
He huffs in annoyance and says “They wanted more and I wanted more time.”
I shake my head and say “Sounds about right.”
“Is that why you and Garret broke up?”
I scoff saying “No. Far from it. I wasn’t pushing him for more, he fell for his costar. She’s 10 years younger than me and she worships the ground he walks on. He told me about her and we were done. I threw his things off my balcony.”
His eyes widen and he says “Jesus.”
I shrug and say “There, you’re caught up on my romantic life.”
He laughs as I sigh, he says “I’m sorry. I was just curious. You guys were serious, at least I thought so.”
“We were, then I got swamped with work and he sought out comfort elsewhere. Fucking asshole..”
Chris and I laugh as I motion to the bartender for more tequila shots
“I have work tomorrow.”
“This should do nothing to you. Come on lightweight.”
The drunkenness quickly came over us as we just kept drinking together, the surroundings around us melted away as we caught up
“How’s your mom?” I ask as I squint at the beer in my hand
“She’s doing great. How’s yours?”
“Not going there right now.” I hum as I reach for my beer
“I think I’m drunk.” He says aimlessly as he stares at the ceiling that’s dimly lighting up the bar
“It feels great. It’s been too long.”
He smiles widely as my head hits his shoulder as I laugh and smile to him
His head rests on mine and he says “Another round please.” He motions towards the bartender
I spin the shot in my hand saying “This is the real Sloan! a shot and a beer to wash it down with… you know me so well.”
I smile to him as I turn my attention to him, he smiles saying “I’ve missed you so much.”
“Right back at you Evans. I’ve missed having friends that actually know me.”
We click our glasses together and say “Cheers to our reunion.”
He nods saying “Cheers to you, happy birthday Sloan Sloan.”
I smile and say “Ah I was wondering when that nickname was going to come up.”
I shoot back the shot and he follows after me a few seconds later
“Remember that stupid list we made?”
“When I was 22, i hadn’t met Garret yet and you were with Jessica. We wrote so many stupid things on that page.”
“Can’t remember what the paper even had on it.”
“We both wrote things we didn’t want each other to know for 10 years remember?”
I laugh and say “I remember.”
“God I wish we still had that paper.”
We both laugh as we sigh in defeat. I spin the liquid in the beer bottle as it dawns on me and I repeat “Under the three willow trees in our favorite park.. where the dog shit can’t be smelled from..”
He looks to me surprised and says “We buried it!”
I nod and he stands up quickly as I tumble out of my barstool from his sudden movement.
He steadies me as he holds my shoulders tightly
“We have to go.”
“What..?? This is my party!”
He nods saying “We have to go get it.”
I smile and say “Well okay I guess. But you owe me a cake I am going to miss my cake.”
“Deal.”
An Uber was called, we stumbled into the back seat as the woman says “You two alright back there?”
“Jimminy crickets we’re amazing! Oooo all this is for us? Okay… I see you.”
I grab the free candy and water she has set up for Uber guests
She pulls up to the park saying “You two going to be alright?”
Stumbling and basically rolling out of the car we laugh and i give her a thumbs up
“We’ll be perfect, thank you!” He thanks the driver as we approach the very dark park at this late of an hour
“I just love scary parks at this hour.”
“It’s not that late. It’s only like 1:30am or something like that.” He reassures me
As soon as we got to the trees I fell to my knees and struggled to dig at the grass. He laughed as he stumbled as he laughed so hard he fell over
I shush him and he laughs louder screaming “Who’s going to hear us out here!”
I crawl towards the play structure and steal some kids plastic pale and shovel
I dig at the grass and he grabs it from me saying “No, no let me.”
I sit back and watch as he digs with the weak shovel as it bends from his strength
He hits the box and I quickly push the shovel away as I impatiently pull the box that’s slightly damaged out
The dirt has eaten at it and the plastic bag hasn’t lasted very well
I guess it has been a decade
I pull the papers and read the list in my hands confused
I don’t remember this being in there
He pulls the bottom papers and reads them as I look through this written agreement that we signed
“Get this, I wrote that in ten years I hope I’ll be a more respectable actor and work on a award winning movie.”
He flips the page as he reads “In ten years I want to be married with a baby and a successful career. But all I really want is to be happy, whether that means giving up acting or not.”
His frown deepens as he looks to me as I read the list
1. Don’t let work get in the way of our friendship
Well clearly we didn’t follow up on that one
2. Help each other anytime it’s needed, career wise or otherwise.
He can’t help with things he doesn’t know about.
3. Always be each others backups, in any date scenario
That one was a stupid add, he only added that one because he knew he needed a date to his sisters wedding the next week. But I obliged.
4. In ten years, or less if we haven’t settled down and gotten married we’ll get married to each other
What the fuck ?!
I stare at the list of shit we wrote and I feel the stinging of a headache hit me as I go back to the first page
He pulls the other page from me as I go mute on him and he stares at me in confusion as I don’t respond to his questions
He reads through them with a smile and it only falters when he gets to number 4 and he looks to me as I stare at the agreement
He smiles and says “Ten years, huh?”
“Take this written agreement as a verbal and written contract that we are obligated and honored to marry the other if both see fit in their very single lives. Rules that may exempt the agreement would be a. A relationship b. A baby and a relationship c. A sexually transmitted disease d. a change in sexual orientation.”
Chris chuckles at the last two rules and I roll my eyes as I say “If not met with that criteria we are morally obligated to relieve each other of the embarrassment of being married too late in life.”
I scoff in annoyance saying “who wrote this shit oh my god.”
Chris smiles saying “I think it’s hilarious.”
“I think it’s- it’s… I don’t know!”
“I think we should listen to our twenty-something selves and follow up on this.”
I stare at him in shock and he nods saying “We promised, we’ve gotta follow up on this pact, we fell through with every other agreement, not this one too, come on.”
“We just started talking again,”
He nods saying “I haven’t had fun like this in years.. I feel like me when I’m with you. I haven’t felt like me in too long. Let’s go get our shotgun wedding, c’mon.”
I slowly warm up to the idea and my smile slowly widens as I begin to nod in agreement
He smiles back at me as his arms snake around me and lift me off the ground. Spinning around as we laugh loudly leads to us tumbling over again
“You call the Uber, I’ll look up a place to get married.”
I feel my fingers move but my mind not catching up as I proceed with our plans of marriage.
It seems completely rational to us and he shows me the 24/7 chapel only a city over and I smile widely as I nod saying “deal.”
He presses his hands to the sides of my face as his thumb brushes down my nose and he taps the top of my nose saying “deal.”
The Uber drive consisted of me sitting close to Chris with his arm wrapped around me as my hands held tightly to his other arm
Pulling up to the chapel the Uber driver didn’t say much but there expression wasn’t indescribable
But it irked me.
I straighten up my dress and lick my hands as I press them to Chris’ stray aways
He groans as he attempts to squirm away from me as I insist on fixing his hair
I nod as I smile saying “perfect.. you look perfect.”
“Thank you, you look beautiful.”
We enter the establishment and the lady behind the podium welcomes us and gets us on the fast track to getting married
“We have a selection of rings to pick from if you haven’t purchased one yet, we offer a character wedding, Elvis, and a few other options. There’s a tropical wedding, a traditional-”
I cut her off saying “traditional.”
Chris smiles saying “no Elvis?”
I push his shoulder as I shake my head. We are brought to the ring area and he immediately picks the ring that sticks out to him
It’s what stuck out to me, it was surprisingly beautiful for the other options they had
I shook the fake ministers hand as we met him 2 minutes before we were to be married
“I need you both to sign this document.”
I squinted my eyes as I read the words on the document and it was a basic marriage document and I flipped the page and signed my name across the bottom quickly
Chris scribbled his name quickly, not taking a second glance and says “if the misses says it’s safe to sign I believe her.”
The minister walks us down the isle as the director of the weddings clips a waist length veil onto my hair
I nod to her in appreciation and the ceremony proceeds as the alcohol was still very influential in the ceremony even happening
The pictures were taken as the minister asks “This is both of your opportunities to say something about the other.”
Chris nods and squeezes my hand saying “You’re my best friend, Sloan Sloan. I felt incomplete without you in my life and having you back in my life means everything. I can’t wait to navigate this new adventure with you as my wife.”
My cheeks redden as I blush and my heart flutters and does back flips.
He tilts his head to me as he admires my smile and he pulls my hand to his lips as he kisses them delicately
I swallow thickly as I say “There’s no one else I could possibly do this with, it’s only you that could put me at ease like this. You are my best friend and I can’t wait to be married to you. I love you, Chris.”
He smiles and the officiant smiles as they say “do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?”
“I do.” I nod as my brain is still foggy
“and do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?”
“I do.”
Chris smiles widely as the man says “I pronounce you husband and wife.”
Before the man can continue Chris kisses me, and once we got started kissing we didn’t stop
His arms wrapped around me as he dipped me into the kiss and the officiant shakes his head muttering “Jesus..”
The wedding director smiles widely and pats our shoulders saying “A few more pictures.”
We take our pictures and are handed glasses of champagne and a bottle as we are directed to the restaurant next door
Chris says “Hello wife.”
I smile as I look to him saying “Hello husband.”
We both laugh as we stumble towards the Italian restaurant next door
“What would you say to skipping the dinner and going home?” I chime
He looks to me and says “Sounds like a square deal.”
The second we got into the Uber his lips were pressed to my neck as the driver visibly cringed
The car ride was fast as the man clearly wanted us out of his car.
Chris lifted me as he stumbled in step up to my house. I laughed as I hung off his shoulder and he patted the back of my legs as he sang everlasting love by natalie cole
“This will be… an everlasting love..!! Ooo..yes it will be!”
He is hilarious and I haven’t laughed this hard in too long
He jingled the key into the door and shifted me in his arms as soon as the door was open.
He carried me through the door frame bridal style and says “Now it’s official!”
The door is kicked shut behind us as he walks like a blind mouse through the pitch black house
We laugh loudly as we bump into every object in my house as our lips are glued together
His teeth pull on my bottom lip as I mumble “Past the guest room. And laundry… keep going.”
We hit the wall again and he releases my lip as my lips press to his cheek
“You’ve almost got it.”
And victoriously he finds my bed and we fall into it slowly as he lands on me carefully, keeping his lips attached to the exposed skin on my neck
“We should’ve done this years ago.”
I hmm in response as I can’t talk through the blissful tingling I feel throughout my body
“Y-yeah.” I say as his lips trail down the exposed skin around my dress as his hands reach behind my back, searching for the zipper
The zipper breaks through his impatience and I grumble as I grow uncomfortable with the heat between my legs
“Just rip the dress- Chris..”
He didn’t have to be asked twice, the dress was ripped from the fabric at the zipper and he pulled it off me roughly as I mumbled into his skin as he hovered over me “oh finally…”
He pauses for a minute as his eyes retreat down to my exposed chest, my back arching at his hands moving down to my waist, the exposed skin quickly showcasing new goosebumps
“didn’t need a bra with that dress- did-did you?”
His fleeting eyes look to mine as I produce a furrowed look, my expression asking him what he’s waiting for
He slides his hands up to my face and says “Are you okay? You alright?”
I nod quickly and say “I’m perfect. I’m happy.”
“That’s all I want for you, lo.”
I nod as I heave a breath saying “Are you okay?”
“More than okay. I’ve wanted this for a long, long time. Is this- is me doing this, is it okay?”
I nod in agreement quickly saying “Not if you wait any longer, you’re killing me…”
I squirm while I’m under him, in near desperation as his grin runs wide and his eyebrows pop
“Oh… I see..”
He laughs as I hmm in response, patience is not my strong suit
“I got you, as your husband, I’ve got you all taken care of.”
And he does, he easily does. My eyes flutter in relief and the rush of adrenaline hits me as my hips rise up in response to him
“good job, honey.”
