And this would be the latter. In fact, apples really don't come much bigger. If this particularly large apple were a nation-state, it would have the tenth-largest economy in the world. Which is pretty good, for an apple.
But this is New York City, after all, and its reputation precedes it. Sometimes described as the world's most important city, sometimes as the capital of the world, it truly is all things at once. It is defined by its fevered, electric pace of life. A global city in which 800 languages are spoken, it is a cultural, historical, sporting, and political superpower. It is, famously, The City That Never Sleeps. Better still, it enforces a right-to-shelter law ensuring, in the legislature, a bed and roof for anyone who needs one, regardless of immigration status.
Today it transpires that #new york is trending. A lot is going on, so take your time. Enjoy it.
Funktional Vibrations at the 34th Street–Hudson Yards subway station in New York City
"Funktional Vibrations", one of three mosaics by Xenobia Bailey, installed in three locations within the 34th Street–Hudson Yards station as part of the MTA's "Arts for Transit" program
I took the metro to return home today with my feet and mind in torment... Being in the crowd, sick of all the commotions around me I plugged in my earphones and delve into a world where the faces told a story which was different than the ones the minds narrate...
For a moment, it felt like the world paused , and as I looked around, I saw tired eyes , fake smiles , everlasting love, scars of victory, scars of beauty, sweats of hard work and most importantly the will among all to go on....
I closed my eyes, for a moment to thank my soul to have mercy on me and never give up... And as I looked back at the world I was standing in the crowd with everyone rushing past me.....
I smiled knowing that life will go on, and that world is the wonderland we live in ,and all it takes is few seconds to stop and appreciate it.
