@newthea-art Ah you’re welcome!! Your mermaid AU drawing is so sweet!! And oh my gosh I certainly don’t mind your headcanons - that is quite promising actually! I believe the scenario I came up with was her inadvertently tricking him in a similar way that he would trick his “victims”, because she was playing music near the water and his curiosity got the better of him.. (He’s Loki so he can shapeshift, just not for long periods of time... not to make this The Little Mermaid or anything xD) He starts going to listen regularly and they inevitably end up meeting.. and yeah I didn’t really think it all the way through but knowing me the conclusion is probably ridiculously cuddly despite him being part fish. Anyway, I really like your idea though! I could definitely work with that.. Meredith could be a fairly good swimmer, so that there’s the added “Pretty good for a human..” And eventually it’s less about tricking her into swimming into dangerous waters or anything and more about spending more time with her.. Ah, yes, I’m going to be daydreaming about this more often I think. Ehehe.. Small concern of mine is that I don’t really know what time period this AU would be set in... but it seems like Meredith’s dyed hair would be a little out of place... :/ Nonetheless, thanks for the idea! Now I really want to draw this! Oof. I rambled a lot about this, haha... sorry about that.

(Also I’m really sorry I switched blogs - I was going to answer it on @turtlemurmurs but my gushing got a little embarrassing so I chickened out. xD Sorry! But thank you very much for the ask!! It made me really happy! :’D)

Nightly thoughts (written story under the cut)

Thea trusted Newt more than anyone. It’s not that some of the magical beasts they studied were not dangerous. Newt was a skilled wizard though. He could handle any animal from a Kelpie to a fiery Dragon. But when there were also dark wizards and hunters for rare magical creatures who intended to kill you, thoughts that tomorrow could be their last day didn’t leave Thea alone. Especially not in this night.

Newt finally came back to bed. He wrote down some notes about his studies of the Runespoor they had discovered a few days ago and was about to tell her about the meaning of it’s three heads but Thea forgot to listen. Instead she wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned her head against his back.

“Thea? Is something wrong?” Newt asked a little confused.

“It’s nothing… I just… I love you… I love you so much.” She had the feeling to tell him. There were more words in her head to tell him how important he is to her. What a wonderful person he is. She just wanted him to know that he is loved. That she cares for him. That she is happy that he is here. That he is with her. But that was everything she could do and say now due to the tiredness that was trying to overcome her.

A soft smile appeared on his lips. “I know… I love you too…” He put his notebook to the side and turned to face her. “Shall we go to bed now? You seem pretty exhausted.”

He placed a kiss on her forehead and they spend the rest of the night cuddling until the magic lights, which were floating through their room, faded and they both fell asleep.
