Summary: Nick comes back to work but he can't contain himself when he finds his wife up on their board of victims. He won't have the team dragging up her past and upsetting her.
Enjoy.

Tumblr media
"Hey stranger, how are you?"
A tired smile formed on Nick's face when he sluggishly walked into the squad room, trying not to drag his feet behind him and act a little more human today.
"Better," He felt much better than he did last week when he went off sick. He had barely been able to keep his eyes open and when he started to run a fever, Olivia sent him home. They didn't need him collapsing on the job or crumbling behind his desk when he wasn't well.
It had been oddly strange for Nick to spend five full days at home with (Y/n) and not have to set an alarm or wake up to a phone call in the middle of the night asking him to come in. He didn't get one call or message or even a voicemail asking for his help or for him to come back and it was the weirdest feeling in the world. The team must have realised how run down he felt to not message him at all.
He didn't feel one hundred percent just yet, but he felt better than he had done and he was well enough to come back.
Spending a few days between the bed and the couch had done him a lot of good, and being with his wife just made him feel that much better.
As he approached his desk, Nick shrugged off his overcoat and draped it on the back of his chair. He didn't want to sit down just yet because he knew if he did, he wouldn't be likely to get up again. It was best for him to keep moving and keep busy to wake himself up.
"So, what have we got?" His hands fell to his hips and he took a sweeping look around, waiting for someone to tell him what the plans were. They had just finished up on a case last week when Nick went off sick. He didn't know if they had a new case yet, if they had a victim to talk to or if they had a big case building up that they needed to work on.
"We're building up an old case with three new victims. Come see what we've got, then we can head out and speak to the latest vic."
Amanda waved a file in the air towards Nick before she got up from her desk and beckoned him to follow her.
He had missed the beginning of this case opening back up, but he could jump in and help since they hadn't spoken to any of the latest victims yet. They needed the usual statements, witnesses, coroborating stories and alibis. It was going to be a busy few days around the station.
Nick could feel himself wishing he was back home already and he had barely been here two minutes. But he tried to push those feelings down as he followed Amanda past the desks and towards the back of the squad room where the computers and the crime boards were.
They had been busy.
"New vics on the right, old ones on the left. We're still searching for more potential vics."
"So, what's the case?" Nick leaned back and sat down on the edge of the table as his arms folded over his chest and he studied the new victims. They always had better chances with new victims, old ones had the statue of limitations hanging over their heads and memories could change and fade and warp. Details could be missed as well.
"Glad to see you back," Olivia commented as she approached the boards and started pointing. "Local parish priest, Jonathon. Three girls between ten and fifteen have come forward with allegations of abuse. Looking back, we've found six previous victims, Finn is still searching for any others. He takes them under his wing, gets them helping in church after school, then progresses to attack them repeatedly."
A wave of unease washed over Nick as he tried his best to listen to what Olivia was saying. But it was hard to concentrate when a familiar sense of knowing lingered in the back of his mind and he could feel his skin starting to prickle with goosebumps.
It was as if there was an invisible hand in front of him that reached through his chest and fisted around his heart when he dared to look over at the board on the left.
Oh God no.
No, that wasn't fair. This couldn't be right.
A subtle trembling set in over Nick's body and he found himself pushing off the table to take a few steps closer to the board he was now inspecting.
It was the same man. It was the same priest. The one Nick fortunately had never met, but had heard all about over the course of a decade. This was the man that Nick had envisioned countless times when he laid awake in the dead of night, unable to sleep or think or do anything but wonder what he was like and if he had been caught out.
"…Are you familiar with the old cases?" Olivia kept her voice quiet because it seemed like Nick was caught up in a trance he couldn't break out of.
He was stood right in front of the board of old victims, but it didn't make sense. Nick wasn't old enough to have been there to work on the old cases. If he was familiar with them, it would have to be due to a fairly recent victim or because he knew someone else who had worked on this case before.
Nick's fingers twitched at his sides and his right hand jerked up before he managed to control himself and drop his hands back to his sides. He let his hands clench into fists until his short nails were puncturing into his palms, creating deep crescent moons in the skin.
"Yeah… I… I need a coffee." He turned on his heels and backed away from the board before he did something he shouldn't.
He made his way through towards the cells and moved to the small kitchen at the side. He needed a coffee to wake up and calm himself down.
His wife was on that board.
Trembles set in through his hands when he tried to pour some fresh coffee into a takeaway cup. He spilt more on the side than he got in the cup and he added three sugars to try and settle his system and his nerves.
They had (Y/n)'s picture up on that board. They had gone raking through past cases and old reports and they had dug out (Y/n)'s file.
While he had been off, they had found the few reports (Y/n) had made when she was younger.
That was why Nick knew this case back to front, he knew what that priest was capable of because it had happened to his wife. Nick knew (Y/n) had made at least three separate reports to the police, but because her parents thought so highly of the priest and didn't believe her, nothing was done. (Y/n) had no evidence of abuse and the police wouldn't file charges or make an arrest on a man of God. Not unless they had solid evidence and more witnesses.
The other girls who came forward didn't have solid cases either. Nothing was done about it.
"So, what do you know about this case, anything we can use?"
Nick glared daggers down into his cup when he trailed back towards the table and heaved down into one of the chairs opposite the boards. He slouched back and crossed one leg over the other, but he couldn't stop staring up at that board.
(Y/n) looked so young. The picture had to be her when she was thirteen or fourteen. There was something in her eyes that made Nick's stomach churn. A desperate need to be listened to; they were made of glass that was splintering and about to break. The world was hidden within those eyes that had seen far too much for someone so young.
"He grooms them first… makes them feel comfortable, preys on any family issues. He usually makes them give confession before he tries anything, then he had a hold over them. Sick fucker."
His eyes stayed on the brown paper cup in his hand that was slowly burning into his skin, creating a delicious tension that made Nick feel calmer.
He knew what the priest did, from what (Y/n) said, his motives became very clear. He wormed his way into their lives and made sure he knew their friends and family and that everyone liked him enough to never believe any of these accusations. He made the girls feel vulnerable and like they would be defying God and going against everyone if they ever spoke out.
Nick couldn't help himself, he couldn't help but look up at that picture again. He wasn't used to seeing photos of (Y/n) from when she was younger, she didn't have many photos she liked that didn't plague her with bad memories. And after she left home and went to college where she met Nick, she cut off ties with her parents. They didn't support her, they didn't help her and whether or not a small part of them believed what she had gone through, they still did nothing about it.
(Y/n) didn't want to be around them anymore when they had let her down so badly.
"I want you both to go over the old victims with Finn, get new statements, any details we can use to make a new case. The statute of limitations may have run out, but some of these girls did make reports and file complaints and we can use those."
No!
No, they were not doing this. They were not going to victimise (Y/n) all over again and put her through that trauma. Nick wouldn't allow it.
No good would come of this, he had consoled too many victims who couldn't put the past behind them. He had talked to so many victims and all of them felt worse after re-living events like this. Getting justice may help, but the process to do that didn't. No one was doing this to his wife.
Nick wouldn't see (Y/n) tell her tale to more people when she had been through it before. She had talked to her parents. She had gone through every event with the police. She had relived it when she opened up to Nick about what she had been through. She wasn't doing that again.
"Amanda, I want you to start with-"
Olivia took a step away from the board and leaned back when Nick suddenly got up. He rounded the side of the table and before either of them could speak, he slammed his hand down on the board.
Nick snatched the picture of (Y/n) from the board, tearing a crease in the top left corner where it didn't come apart from the blue tac properly. His chest heaved and his shoulders strained against his shirt as he stared down at the picture he desperately wanted to tear up into pieces but couldn't. This wasn't the girl that Nick knew. This wasn't the woman he had fallen in love with, this was a piece of her past he had seem glimpses of but never ventured into.
This was the part of (Y/n) that she wanted to bury and forget and Nick would do absolutely anything in his power to do that for her.
He reached down and snatched the eraser on the bottom of the board and set a fast pace, scrubbing the black marker from the board. He wiped away his wife's maiden name, her date of birth and the dates of her attacks. He cleaned away the information about her allegations and what she had gone through.
He wiped the slate clean, wishing this could rebound into her life and smudge away her past so it never happened.
"We have five old victims, not six. You don't use this one."
Amanda leaned back in her seat and twirled her pen between her fingers. They had gone through all these victims and they all seemed credible. He couldn't just walk in and wipe them clean and demand no one talk to them or use their statements.
"Nick, we've got statements that coroborate her story, she's a good lead-"
"She's my wife."
Silence fell over the end of the squad room just as Finn walked through with a thin paper file in his hands. No one had anything to say to that. What were they supposed to say? What were they supposed to do now?
For a few more seconds, no one spoke. All eyes landed on Nick as he stood in front of the board, his short nails puncturing holes into the eraser in his hand. His biceps strained against his sleeves from how tense he was holding himself. The veins in his neck started to push out and come on display and his jaw ground down so deeply the muscles around his neck and chin began to flex.
"Nick, I'm so sorry." Olivia held her hands in front of her and started to move the ring around her finger. "You know the way this goes, we comb through old victims to find things to help put this man away. We can leave (Y/n) down to you, we won't go near her-"
"No, you won't. You don't get it, (Y/n) went through all of this and she didn't get help. It's too late for her now, she doesn't want anything to do with this so we get this guy with the victims and the evidence we do have. No one goes near my wife, don't even mention her in any part of this."
They couldn't force their way into (Y/n)'s life.
She was done with this. It was a decade ago and (Y/n) was trying to move on. Some victims couldn't move on unless they had closure, but (Y/n) didn't feel that way. She tried to get help, she moved on, she got her life together and she was finally somewhere that she was happy and proud and pleased with herself. No one was going to run in and ruin that for her.
Testifying or making statements and reliving everything was going to burden (Y/n) and make her feel down and drag her all the way back down when she had done so well putting herself back together. If they caught this guy, great, (Y/n) could rest easy knowing no one else would get hurt.
But at the end of the day, (Y/n) was a victim, she didn't have to think of anyone else. She had tried to help, she had done her part in this. They had her statements and her files, that was all they needed from her, talking to her wasn't going to help her.
"We've got five other victims, surely that's enough?" Amanda rolled her lips into a thin line and looked over at Olivia for confirmation.
If this was Amanda's significant other, she would feel the same way. She wouldn't want the team going to talk to her partner ot combing through their life to pick it apart and get them to retell their story. She would want her partner as far away from this mess as possible and Amanda could see where Nick was coming from.
Did they really need (Y/n) if they had the rest of these girls and their case would be built solidly around the new victims?
"Nick, are you sure this is what (Y/n) wants?"
"It took her months to open up to me, she doesn't want to keep living this nightmare. Liv… she's pregnant, you think stressing her out is a good idea right now? I know everything, whatever questions you have, I can answer. Leave her out of this."
His hand planted down on his hip, crushing his wife's picture against his trouser leg while his other hand moved to cup his chin. He scratched his nails down his jaw and rubbed until it felt like he was going to tear off a layer of skin.
This was what (Y/n) wanted, Nick knew that and he knew what would go through his wife's head when she found out about the investigation.
She would want nothing to do with this.
If they spoke to her about this, it would drag up all the past and send her spiralling down when she was finally back to a good place in her life. She wasn't having nightmares or sleepless nights anymore. She wasn't afraid to be around other people and she didn't flinch when in close contact with others.
Since the moment Nick met her back in college, he had done everything he could to help her. He moved at her pace, let her slowly open up to him over the course of almost eight months. They worked through things together, he had been there when she went to therapy and every part of her recovery, Nick had tried to be there by her side.
And (Y/n) was six and a half months pregnant now.
They were finally at a place in their lives where (Y/n) felt happy and able to start a family and have the life she always wanted. With Nick.
(Y/n) was even going to church with Nick and his family now. After everything she had gone through, she was going to church and keeping some of the little faith she had left. This case would set her back years in her recovery and when this went to trial, (Y/n) would undoubtedly be near her due date.
There was no chance in Hell that Nick would let Barba put his pregnant wife up on the stand and risk stressing her out and pushing her into labour.
It wasn't worth the risk.
***
Nick could feel all the energy draining out of him as he dragged his feet and plodded up the stairs. His fingers worked at the buttons on his sleeves and he rolled them up to his elbows as his chin tucked down into his chest and he sighed.
He could feel all the energy dwindling away from him like someone was draining him down to twenty percent. Less than a week back at work was draining him to his last reserves and he felt like he would be taking another week off sick as he still wasn't fully recovered yet.
He had shed his blazer jacket the moment he walked through the door and as he reached the top of the stairs, Nick undid the tie from his collar and whipped it off from around his neck.
"Carino?" He leaned in the bedroom and tossed his tie on the bed before he turned around and headed back into the hallway when he saw the room was empty.
A soft smile pulled at his tired lips when he noticed the light was on in the spare room.
When he poked his head around the door, he let his arms fold over his chest and he leaned his body into the door frame. One leg crossed over the other and his smile softened into something sweet as his eyes locked on his wife.
(Y/n) was sat cross-legged on the floor in the middle of the room with small piles of clothes surrounding her. Blankets stacked up near her right knee, onesies and vests in front of her and the few handmade boots she had made sat proudly in front of her legs.
"You've been busy," Nick's quiet comment caused (Y/n) to lift her head and when her eyes locked on him, she bit down no her lip, obscuring a charmingly sweet smile that made his heart melt.
She placed down the boots in her hand and ran her hands along her knees, but her heart sped up and she pressed her lips together tightly when she watched her husband. He seemed to grin down at her before something caught his eye and he tilted his head back. His eyes swept around the room a few times before his head turned to the left and he looked over the wall beside him.
"Have you painted again?" The sigh was visible in the way his chest puffed out then deflated. Nick moved away from the doorframe and took a few steps into the room so he could look up at the walls.
They had painted the first coat on the walls two days before he went off sick from work. They spent the next few days lounging around the house with Nick too tired and run down to do anything. And when he had gone back to work, he didn't think about the second coat of paint that the walls needed. The room was a very pale shade of grey that had hints of lilac mixed in. It was a neutral colour since they were keeping the gender a secret.
"Maybe," (Y/n) tilted her head down and shrugged when Nick huffed.
"And you thought it would be safe to get up on the ladder without me home? What if you fell?"
If she wanted to paint, Nick would of preferred (Y/n) just painted the part of the walls she could reach and leave the skirting edges at the ceiling for him to do. He didn't like the thought of her getting up on a ladder without him here, especially when she was home alone. If she fell or hurt herself or knocked herself out she wouldn't have a way to get help.
(Y/n) lifted her head when Nick crouched down in front of her, being mindful of the clothes she was trying to sort out and had piled around her like a circle of protection.
Her lips curved up and a shiver ran down her spine when his hand cupped her chin so he could plant a soft kiss on her lips.
"Sorry… I got the crib out too but I got a bit sidetracked." She let her eyes dance across to the side of the room before she looked back at Nick and gently traced her hand across his neck.
She could feel the growl that vibrated through his shirt and up his neck which made his jaw shudder. He leaned forward to steal another kiss before his eyes locked on the right side of the room. The crib should have been flat-packed and still in the box he had leant up against the wall. Instead, the instructions were on the floor beneath the window, the tool box was at the ready and all the pieces were set out into rows very neatly.
"You know that's my job, you should be resting."
He spoke against her lips, letting each word fan across her dark lips before he gave in to temptation and kissed her again, pulling her lower lip between his teeth. He didn't want (Y/n) doing everything and he didn't want her overworking herself when his back was turned and he left the house.
"Come on, I think you've earned a break." Nick moved his hands round until he was holding the back of (Y/n)'s elbows and he let her hands fall on his shoulders.
He slowly eased her up to her feet with him but his brows raised and his eyes widened when (Y/n) leaned forward. Her hands moved from his shoulders to wrap around his neck and her face buried forward in his chest near his collar bone.
A tender look crossed his face and his lips quirked into a sideways smile as (Y/n) leaned forward into him. He slid his hands down to her waist and planted his hands flat on her lower back with his arms pressing lovingly into her sides. Nick held her against his chest for a little while with his cheek pressed on the top of her head.
He began to sway them from side to side as if soft music was lulling in the background.
His hand moved to rub up and down her back and his other hand slid further down to cup her bum while he pressed his lips longingly to the top of her head. They stayed like that for another minute or more, but Nick could feel his smile starting to fade when (Y/n) didn't let him go.
She tightened her arms around his neck when he tried to lean back to look down at her.
"Carino… is everything okay?" The words vibrated through her hair and he pressed another kiss against her temple while his hand stopped against the middle of her back. His thumb began to glide up and down over the back of her shirt but he kept swaying them from side to side to try and keep the serenity around them.
"Did you see the news today?"
(Y/n)'s voice came out as quiet as a whisper on the wind but she didn't want to pull away. Not yet. She could feel the first few buttons of Nick's shirt were undone and she nuzzled her nose against his chest until she could rest her cheek against his bare skin, nudging his shirt out the way.
"No, we were driving round town all day doing interviews, why? What did it say?" Nick had been driving for the best part of his twelve hour shift and when he wasn't in the car, he was asking questions and taking down notes. Two out of the five previous victims they were talking to had refused to talk to them and clammed up when they arrived.
It hadn't been a very productive day and Nick was glad to be home. He didn't have time to watch the news.
"A reporter has confirmation that… that a priest in the area is under suspicion of sexual allegations… it's him."
(Y/n) kept her face buried into Nick's chest and she felt the sharp breath he took and how his stomach tensed and pulled inwards against her. His hand pressed down deeper into her back and he tilted his head so he could rest his chin on top of her hair.
As soon as she saw it on the news, (Y/n) hurriedly turned the tv off. She didn't dare turn it back on after that and when she did, she had gone straight to the movie channels so no news would pop up.
(Y/n) didn't want to listen or read whatever they were spouting. She didn't want to see his picture pop up on the screen and remind her of the nightmares she had tried to forget. She didn't need his face back in her memory when she had finally started to forget what he looked like and in her dreams, he appeared as a faceless blurr.
Nor did (Y/n) want to hear what he was accused of and hear how old the other girls were. She didn't need to be reminded that this predator was still out on the streets because no one had taken her seriously or listened to her as a teenager.
"The case landed on Liv's desk when I went off sick. I have to work the case and look into it." Nick knew he needed to tell (Y/n), but he thought he would have another few weeks before any reports got leaked and the media found out what and who they were investigating. He wanted to sit (Y/n) down and calmly tell her about this so she had some forwarning instead of finding out like this.
He felt the shudder than ran through her body and seemed to pass right into him. He could feel the sharp breaths she took but instead of pulling out of his arms, she held him tighter. (Y/n) unlocked her arms from his neck and slid her hands down so she could loop them beneath his arms and bound them tightly around his chest.
"Do I… Nick, I don't wanna…" Tears burned in the corners of (Y/n)'s eyes as she finally pulled back enough to look up at him.
Her chin pressed down into his chest so her head could tip back and stare up at her husband. She could see the emotions pooling deep in his brown eyes and his lips parted for a few seconds while he tried to think of something to say.
"Shh, carino it's okay. You don't have to do anything, I swear. You're not part of this investigation, no one will talk to you and you're not going anywhere near that trial when it starts."
His hand moved up from her bum and curled loosely around the back of her neck so he could lean down and smother his lips against her forehead. He could feel the heat radiating from her skin and the light trembling that settled in her bones. This is what he was afraid of. This is what Nick tried to tell the team. He knew (Y/n) like the back of his hand and he knew she wouldn't want any part of this.
"Really?" (Y/n) hated how much her voice wobbled and her nails dug into Nick's back when he replaced his lips with his temple against hers.
As soon as it came on the news, (Y/n) had fought hard not to go into a panic and she stopped herself from going down to the station to talk to Nick. She didn't want to bother him at work but to distract herself, she had spent the day in the nursery. The thought of their impending baby had been a great distraction to (Y/n), she painted the nursery, got the crib out into sections and started on the clothes.
(Y/n) didn't want to testify.
She didn't want to open up to anyone else about the torment she had gone through as a teen. She didn't want the sympathy looks she got from others and she didn't want the people her husband worked with to look at her like that or hear the gruesome details of her abuse.
It happened a long time ago and (Y/n) wanted to move on. She and Nick were happy, they were having a baby and starting their family together; this was the last thing they needed.
"Really. For you, this is over. That shit on the news has nothing to do with you Carino."
"Do they know?"
The pain in her voice was more than clear and it made Nick's lungs seize up. He wanted to tell her no. He wanted to say the team had no idea what she had gone through, but he could never lie to her.
None of their friends knew what (Y/n) had gone through and Nick's family only found out a few small details after they got engaged. While she had been his girlfriend, his family had no idea what she had gone through and all Nick disclosed to his parents and sister was that (Y/n) had gone through a degree of abuse as a teenager. He didn't say an specifics or who it had involved, when, where or how long for.
They knew the basics and only what they desperately needed to know. That was how they both wanted it to be.
(Y/n) leaned her head to the right when both Nick's hands moved to cup her face. His thumb swiped across her cheek and cleared away a tear that started to fall and he tipped her head down so he could press a longing kiss to her forehead.
"They had your name and the old reports. I took it down before they could look any further into it. As far as they're concerned, your name's been erased."
Nick was glad he got to the board before any of the team looked through all of (Y/n)'s case files and before they got to speak to her. As far as the team were concerned, when Nick scrubbed (Y/n)'s name off the board, he was erasing her from the entire investigation.
Olivia had agreed not to tell Barba that they had a sixth past victim. They hadn't told him that they had a victim who refused to speak to them, they hadn't told him Nick had a personal link to this investigation. As far as everyone else knew, (Y/n) wasn't involved in this, her name wouldn't come up. And now she was married to Nick, her last name was officially Amaro and had been for the last two years. She wasn't connected to this case anymore.
"You have nothing to worry about, carino. Okay?"
The small, tepid smile that graced (Y/n)'s lips was enough to calm her down and stop her from falling into floods of tears. She nodded her head in his hands and reached up to grip his wrists, as if silently telling him not to dare let go.
She pushed up on her toes and connected their lips, mumbling a quiet 'thank you' into his mouth which he swallowed up as he devoured her lips.
"Anything for you, carino."

Nick Amaro Headcanons
TW: Slight NSFW

Perfect father figure
If you have kids with him or already have kids, he's great with them
If you don't have kids with him, he wants one
^ He'll beg and plead. He feels like this is a strong connection between the two of you
He just wants a child that looks like the both of you
He's super protective over you
If you're ever in danger, he practically loses his mind
Nearly beat a guy to death because he had threatened you
If he thinks you're not eating properly, he'll be at your home with food
He will shove the food down your throat if he has too
He just wants what's best for you
Best care taker in the world. If you're ever sick he's taking off work to take care of you
He's a surprisingly good cook [He gets it from his momma]
You and his mother become close. She treats you better than she treats her son, because- her words- "You're too sweet for a boy like Nick"
He'll propose surprisingly fast
He just wants to tie the knot
He loves you more than you love him. He also probably fell in love first
He'll watch rom-coms and such with you
Sometimes you forget that he's a tough, bad ass cop, with the way he acts towards you
A sweet gentle teddy bear
Especially in bed
He's so gentle and is there to please you
He doesn't satisfy himself, until you're satisfied
He wants to see those legs shaking. He'll grab the inner thigh, close to your ass, squeezing tightly as you wrap them around his waist. He's kissing your neck, sucking and licking, leaving dark hickeys. You feel him everywhere all at once and it's so overwhelming, but yet it feels so good
He gets jealous really easily, like extremely. He knows you're a pretty girl, but you're obviously taken. He gets very aggressive, but never at you. When he's mad at you, he avoids you so he doesn't take it out on you
He could never hurt you and he doesn't want too

nick amaro x reader // law and order SVU
yes, we are going there - what have i done 😭 no plot, really. just a moment.
-
The last thing Nick had expected to find when walking back into the SVU bullpen was you; and yet, here he was, eyes fixed on you as his strides quickened. He notices Fin’s smirk that finds itself aimed his way as he weaves his way between Amanda and Liv to get to you, but he ignores it.
He lets his gaze drag itself over your form, head down on his desk, the lamp on his desk casting a soft glow around your features; the extra suit jacket he leaves hanging on the back of his chair draped over your shoulders. You have a laptop open in front of you, a case file and note pad within reach, all topped off by an uncapped pen lying caged between your curled fingers. He sees the pair of heels which you had shed, one standing, one lying on its side peeking out from under his desk. A dip of his gaze reveals the deep green of the dress which you had on, one of his favourite dresses on you - one that he knew you had worn in to work today in anticipation of Friday having supposed to be date night.
Nick slows his pace as he approaches you, content in the few seconds to allow himself to watch the gentle rise and fall of your shoulders. The sight stirs a mix of emotions in his chest - the swell of emotion that came rushing in whenever he set his eyes on you, and a heavy tinge of guilt. Guilt that he had to cancel the first date night you both had managed to plan after weeks of clashing schedules, guilt that you taken it so well, and guilt that you had somehow found your way here, to the SVU bullpen so that you could both head home together.
Nick drops to a knee, bringing himself to eye level with your face. He raises his hand to cup the side of your face gently. His touch on your skin is light, soft, but it makes you stir immediately.
“Hey,” Nick’s voice grounds you as you let your mind grind to a start, your surroundings shifting into focus. “What are you doing here?”
“Thought we could go home together,” your lips furl up into a gentle smile, voice soft, your eyes, still hazy with sleep, locked onto Nick’s. You forget your bearings for a moment until you hear a cough from behind Nick as various footsteps shuffle into the bullpen. You straighten up slowly, blinking the sleep from your eyes, legs stretching out beneath you as you offer a wave to the rest of the team trudging in.
“An ADA slumming it at Amaro’s desk?” Fin muses, voice joking and light.
“What would Barba say,” Munch follows, expression deadpan.
“Unbecoming isn’t it?” Liv continues with a quirk of one end of her lip.
“What can I say,” you play along, “not all of us have Barba’s flair.”
“Clearly,” Amanda states, looking pointedly at Nick which earns a series of chuckles from the rest of the team and yourself.
“Yeah, yeah,” Nick waves a hand in the air dismissively, but his gaze doesn’t leave you. You tilt your body downward slightly, hands reaching for your discarded heels. Nick notices and he is back on a knee in one fluid motion.
“Nick,” you protest as he places a hand along your calf, his other propping your heel up, helping you back into your heels. You hazard a glance behind your boyfriend, only to find the rest of the team, tactfully busying themselves with their desks. “I’m not Cinderalla,” you state, but with no real protest as you let him guide your other heel back on.
“I’m not your Prince Charming?” He teases, not caring who else heard, giving your calf a gentle squeeze before winking at you and straightening back into a stand.
“I’ll get back to you on that,” you pull a face as you turn to gather your belongings, making quick work of shoving them into your bag with Nick’s help.
“Way to hurt a man,” he places a hand on his chest as you shrug his spare jacket off your shoulders; Nick takes it from you, hanging it back on his chair.
“She could hurt you more” Fin cuts in again with a sing-song voice. It makes you chuckle, as you catch a wink Amanda throws in your direction.
“Don’t you have somewhere to be Detective Tutuola,” Nick asks all while shrugging off the jacket on his shoulders to place it over yours, letting it hang off your frame. He flicks off the light switch on his desk and picks your bag up.
“If I say no, will you let me tag along?”
Your yes comes at the same time as Nicks absolutely not, and it earns you another series of chuckles around the room.
“Don’t call me till Monday,” Nick calls out, while threading his fingers through yours as he starts to guide you towards the lift. You barely manage to call out a goodbye, before the lift doors shut on you both.
“I didn’t-” your protest is cut short by Nick’s lips on yours, his free hand circling your waist, going over the fabric of his jacket on your shoulders. You let yourself sink into the kiss, hand sliding up his shoulder and behind his neck as the lift descends to the parking garage.
“I’m sorry I had to cancel today,” he says, forehead resting against yours as he breaks the kiss. His eyes are closed, but you flicker yours open as you run your hand from the back of his neck to cup the side of his jaw.
“You have nothing to apologise for Detective Amaro,” you end with the professional term of address in attempt to diffuse some of the guilt you see in his eyes. “Work,” you continue with a light shrug - Nick was a victim of you cancelling on him as well, and you understood.
“I was really looking forward to tonight,” he says, still apologetic as he finally opens his eyes while leaning his face into your palm.
“I can think of a few ways you can spend the rest of the weekend making it up to me,” you say, dropping your voice to a lower, almost sultry tone as you lean into him, pressing the front of your body into his. Nick responds by pulling you in closer, his hand dipping down the hem of his jacket on your shoulders to slide down onto the curve of your ass.
“Take me home Detective Amaro,” you say as the lift door dings open.
“Your wish is my command,” Nick says in response, taking the opportunity to sear another quick kiss onto your lips before tugging you out of the lift.

I'm kinda curious about 'something he's shy about asking for' and Amaro, since I don't imagine Maria was ever particularly... experimental - pascalispretty

This is gonna sound so fucking sad but I honestly feel like Nick struggles with asking for affection.
Like anything that starts between the two of you was probably hot and heavy but there are times when hes had a really bad day and he just needs to feel loved, like someone cares about him. He finds it really hard to ask for that, like the making love aspect instead of the fucking. He would probably try to slow it down and hope you follow his lead or understand his needs without him saying it. It's very hard for him to vocalise. When the two of you are more established he still struggles but you can spot it easier now and can ask him if he needs it which makes things alot easier on him.

Over your head
It's been a while and most of this is personal to my life. Just needed to little Nick loving.
Warnings: None, just fluffy Nick.
WC: 736.
Enjoy x
Tumblr media
You should have said no, but you couldn’t now, everything was in place and you knew it have to be like ripping a band aid off, but you were nervous. When Liv came to you and told you that SVU was going to be getting the funds to have an in-house forensic science lab and suggested that you go and get your degree so you could be the head of the lab, it took you nearly 3 days to decide. Life had not been kind recently and you were in your era of second guessing yourself with everything you had been through and what was still to come in your personal life. Your divorce was finally coming to the final stages of being settled and you had just got the kids in a routine as a single mom, and now you were nothing but crazy taking on a full-time degree study as well as working. It was lucky you lived with your mum and the kids went to the same school as Amanda's girls, so between her and Sonny, when you needed it, they said they had it all under control.
As you walked into the huge lecture hall, you found a seat as far up the back as possible and you sat down, sitting your bag on the seat next to you. You had a little giggle as your eyes scanned around the room at all these “Young kids” doing a course as heavy as this, thinking about everything you had seen after 12 years of SVU.
You were looking down at your phone to a message Amanda had messaged you about her plans with all the kids that afternoon after school when you heard a familiar voice and instantly all your worries melted away, your eyes slowly scanned up and surprisingly your eyes met and you blushed as he gave you quick wink and continued talking,
“Good morning, everyone, I’ am Nick Amaro your professor for the next 12 months. I’ am here to answer any questions you may have. All I ask is no phones during my class, unless an extreme emergency” Nick looked at you with a smirk and you giggled to yourself dropping you phone back into your bag.
If that is what you had to listen too for 1 hour every day for the next year, you would be glad to do it. Listening to Nick talking about all his lab skills and referring to his SVU days and cases he had worked on with you and how it led him to this path, made you feel warm and fuzzy. You hadn’t seen him since the night he told you he was moving to LA, your life was already a mess from the break up and he held you on floor as you sobbed at the fact that you were losing your best friend. You had kept in contact, he calling and facetiming the kids as often as he could but you never would have thought in a million years that he would be back in New York teaching.
You watched as all the other students filed out and then you stood up walking out of the aisle you  were sitting on and you walked down the stairs. Just as you were almost at the bottom, Nick walked from around his desk and made his way towards the stairs, stopping at the bottom step not stepping up. You stopped on the bottom step, looking down at Nick, not taking them off his as you sat your bag down on the chair next to you. It was like a magnet pulled you together, your arms going around his neck and his around you middle,
“I’ve missed you sweetheart” Nick kissed the cheek he could reach.
You lent back, your arms going from around his neck and your hands went straight to his beaded cheeks, his moving to your hips, the feel of his facial hair smooth on your hands,
“You have no idea how much I have missed you. How long are you back for?”
“At the moment 3 years” he squeezed your hips “But I’ am hoping I won’t need to leave again”
“Have something important to stay for Professor?” You grinned.
“Yes actually” he paused for a moment looking down at your lips and then looking back up at your eyes “I ‘am looking at her”

Take The Edge Off
Tumblr media
Nick Amaro x F!Reader
Rating: Explicit
Wordcount: 3464
Warnings: dirty talk, discussion of sexts/sexting, swearing, car sex/sex in a semi-public place, unsafe sex, biting.
Summary: You and Nick have been trying to find the time to hook up for days. Eventually, you resort to desperate measures to take the edge off. Written for the 'I can never seem to get enough of you' square of @storiesofsvu's bingo. This one was entirely @misscharlielulu's fault. (ao3)
The first photo felt a little silly. You had gotten all dressed up and ready for Nick to come over after work - which had really involved undressing, save for some thigh-highs - only for him to cancel on you. Major case, couldn’t get away from the precinct, short staffed, the usual interruptions. In your frustration, you had wanted some sort of payback.
Which had led to you propping your feet up on the headboard so you could take an artful shot of your legs, clad in your stockings. You know all too well how much Nick likes them, how distracting he finds it when you wear them around him. So you sent the photo off without much thought and went and had a cold shower.
You had come back to a flurry of text messages on your phone.
N: You can’t just send me stuff like that
N: I’m at work.
N: Once I get done here, I’ll come over
N: You’re in so much trouble
Smirking to yourself, you had sent a quick reply.
I hope so.
Your hopes had been dashed again when your phone had rung less than an hour later - instead of Nick, it had been your editor. Some socialite causing havoc uptown, he needed something for the Ledger’s website. The stockings had come off, you had taken the train uptown, and Nick had gotten an apologetic text trying to reschedule for the next night.
It had been the pattern of the last few days. You had gotten bolder in sending Nick photos - never with your face visible - and downright filthy texts, and he had responded with plenty of dirty messages of his own. Neither of you had been able to find the time to get together all week, and judging from the texts, he was feeling the frustration as keenly as you were.
Tonight, blessedly, your schedules aligned. Nick was on a late, so you spent more time than strictly necessary getting ready; picking out nice lingerie, making sure your aesthetician hadn’t missed anything when you went in for your wax last weekend, shaving and lotioning your legs. It’s going suspiciously well, and you’re beginning to wonder if your luck has finally turned when you hear a key in the door.
Luckily you’d dressed, despite an agreement that you’d have the place to yourself for the evening. Your roommate barges into the apartment, looking as though she’s run all the way up from the subway station, her boyfriend in tow.
“Sorry, sweetheart. I know I said I’d stay out, but Ned got the train up to see me, isn’t he so sweet?” Hannah manages, barely pausing as she passes you in the lounge. “Doesn’t your friend have his own place you can go to?” You want to argue back, but her bedroom door slams before you can get a chance.
Not that you have much room to argue with her, since her parents pay half the rent on the apartment. Instead, you return to your bedroom to find your headphones and turn your music on as high as it’ll go before any noises start up from Hannah’s room.
Yes, Nick had his own place, but the whole point of him coming to you was because you lived closer. Less time to wait, after days of dancing around one another. In good traffic, it was barely a ten-minute drive from the precinct to your apartment. From your place to his would take over half an hour, even without accounting for traffic. Frustrated, you flop back onto the couch.
You could text Nick and tell him about the change in plans. The last thing you want to do is reschedule. Whatever you have with Nick might be casual, but it’s still been far too long since you last had sex with him. Before you can do anything, your phone vibrates against your stomach.
N: I’m downstairs, can you buzz me up?
You must have missed the sound of the intercom thanks to your headphones. Instead of buzzing him into the building, you grab your bag and head downstairs, only taking your headphones off once you’re safely out of earshot of Hannah’s bedroom.
Nick is standing right outside when you open the door of your apartment building. If he’s surprised that you came downstairs, he doesn’t show it. Instead, he crowds you back into the lobby and kisses you. Nick’s arms wrap around your waist, holding you tight to him as he kisses you with an intensity that takes your breath away. His full lips are soft against yours. When his tongue dips into your mouth, your knees nearly buckle. It’s been too long.
“We can’t stay here,” you blurt out as soon as he breaks the kiss. You curl your fingers around the lapel of his blazer, trying to keep him close even as you tell him he has to leave. He frowns down at you.
“I thought your roommate-”
“Her boyfriend surprised her. Can we go to yours?” Given that he’d been willing to spend the night with you, you feel safe in assuming that neither of his children are around. And despite the vague, ill-defined boundaries the two of you have tried to establish, you’ve spent entire weekends at Nick’s place before. Nick sighs deeply, bumping his forehead against yours.
“There was an accident on FDR Drive, the traffic’ll be terrible.” He groans, arms still holding you close. You know he must be feeling as frustrated and needy as you do.
“If it gets really bad, we could always just fuck in the car,” you say teasingly. “Take the edge off.” At least that makes him chuckle, the corner of his eyes crinkling as he smiles. Keeping one arm around your waist, he leads you back through the front door.
“You’re a menace, kid.” Nick squeezes your waist as the two of you walk towards his car. “You cannot send me photos like that when I’m on a stakeout with Benson.”
“Photos like what?” You ask, widening your eyes in feigned innocence as you open the car door. “You mean like the one where my tits were practically falling out of my bra and-”
“Yes, like that. I work in sex crimes, it’s a bad look if I get turned on at work.” He slides into the driver’s seat, and you don’t miss the lingering look he gives your legs as he throws his blazer into the backseat. His shirtsleeves are rolled up, and you can’t help admiring his forearms.
“I don’t recall you complaining.” You cross your legs, letting the lace of your thigh-highs show. “In fact, shall we review the evidence?” You retrieve your phone from your bag, opening your messages from Nick.
“You’re not funny,” Nick starts, but he’s doing a poor job of attempting to sound grumpy. You make yourself comfortable in the passenger seat as he starts to drive, scrolling back through your messages.
“I’m not trying to be funny, Detective, I’m making my case. You said that I can’t send you photos like that when you’re at work, but here you are straight after the fabulous photo of my tits telling me ‘they’d look even better with my come on them’.” You watch gleefully as Nick’s hands tighten on the steering wheel; there’s little you enjoy more than attempting to rile Nick up like this. He’s doing a very good job of pretending to be unaffected, but you can see the faint smile playing at the corner of his mouth.
“Guilty.”
“And at one-thirteen AM the same night, you sent me a very vivid description of what you were thinking about while you jerked off. Do you need me to refresh your memory, Detective?” You can’t even complain about the lack of photos on his part; the texts he had sent back had been plenty descriptive.
“I was there, I remember.” Nick’s smirking now, that roguish grin that you love. The two of you seem to have hit the traffic that he warned about, but you keep going.
“I’ll remind you anyway. That long message, telling me that you got yourself off thinking about the time you fingerfucked me under the table at that dive bar downtown. How badly you wished you’d taken me into the bathroom and fucked me in one of the stalls. It was quite the text to wake up to.” You prop your feet up on the dashboard, your skirt riding even higher around your thighs. The motion draws Nick’s eyes, and you can practically feel his gaze dragging over your skin.
“Well, I hope it at least gave you something nice to think about while you were in your staff meeting.”
“Oh, it did. One of the few upsides of being a woman; you can be as turned on as you like in public, nobody’ll ever know.” The traffic is inching forwards, but you feel like you could crawl out of your skin with how aroused you feel. You glance over at Nick, pleased to see he appears to be suffering as much as you are.
The two of you have spent the better part of the week engaged in long-distance foreplay; being alone but unable to do anything has to be driving him as insane as it is you.
“You think you’re that good at hiding it?” Nick asks, taking advantage of a red light to turn his head and look you in the eye. “If anyone would have looked twice at you in that bar, they would have known.”
“That’s different, you were edging me. Everybody can see if a guy gets hard in public; if a girl gets wet, nobody sees.” You tilt your head, examining the cars around you. Before you can change your mind, you lift your hips up just enough to be able to hook your fingers into the waistband of your underwear and slide them off.
“What are you doing?” Nick asks, barely blinking as you toss the damp black lace over your shoulder into the backseat. You tug your skirt back down just enough to cover yourself and give a nonchalant shrug.
“Thinking of ways to save time when we finally get out of this car-” you start, a horn from the car behind you cutting you off. The traffic has inched forward since Nick took his eyes off the road, and he turns his attention back to it now.
“I told you the traffic would be terrible.”
“What would you have preferred, we stay at my place and try fucking to the sounds of Hannah and her boyfriend going at it in the next room? Or should we have gone to the precinct and done it there?” You tease, yelping when he playfully slaps your thigh. He keeps his hand on your thigh, his thumb stroking over the black lace of your stocking.
“I hate that you have a roommate.”
“Sorry, Detective, we don’t all make six-figure salaries. With what the paper pays me, you’re lucky it’s just the one roommate and not five. And I definitely wouldn’t live close enough to the precinct for you to come over on your lunch break when you need to take the edge off.” You cover his hand on your thigh with your own, squeezing gently.
His skin feels burning hot against yours, even with the barrier of your stocking. You tip your head back against the seat, any clever comment dying on your tongue. His fingers are so close to where you want them, just inches away from the apex of your thighs.
You let your eyes flutter closed, your imagination running wild. In the dark corner of a dive bar with a table obscuring his hands had been one thing; you’re not sure Nick is actually bold enough to slide his hand higher, where anybody could look through the window and see.
Still, the idea alone has your breath catching in your chest, your legs spreading subtly wider. The tension in the car is so thick, you crack your window just to let some fresh air in.
“You get bored of reading out sexts?” Nick asks, and you don’t even have to open your eyes to know that he’s smirking at you.
“I made my point,” you manage, hyperfocused on Nick’s thumb stroking your thigh. It’s such a light, gentle touch, but you’re so pent up that even that is driving you to distraction. In fact, it distracts you so well that it takes you a while to notice that the car is moving faster than it should be if you were still stuck in traffic.
“Did we get past the traffic already?” You ask, opening your eyes finally. The road certainly looks clearer, but you’re not entirely sure which borough you’re even in right now. Nick’s hand is still on your thigh, but he’s focusing on driving.
“No, I ah- I’m taking one of your suggestions.” It’s all the explanation he offers. You frown, trying to remember what you’ve said.
“I wasn’t serious about fucking in the precinct. Not that it wouldn’t be kinda hot, but Benson seems like she could be really scary-”
“We’re not going to the precinct,” he says evenly. Your frown deepens and you glance around, searching for some clue as to where Nick is driving you. The streets are growing quieter, and you swallow thickly when you realise he’s driving somewhere that the two of you won’t be seen. Nick seems to know where he’s going; you trust him.
It’s not long before Nick pulls into a nondescript parking garage. Your heart is beating so fast that your chest aches. Neither of you speaks as Nick finds a space tucked away behind a pillar and parks, as though some sort of spell has settled over you both and a single word will shatter it.
You can’t actually be about to do this. One of you will break. One of you has to.
Your seatbelt clicks softly as you release it, but the sound echoes through the space like a starting pistol. Nick undoes his own, his hands finding you before you can open your mouth to ask about positioning and dragging you across the car, onto his lap. You situate yourself as best as you can in the confined space, banging your head on the roof of the car as you try and straddle him.
Nick’s hand slides into your hair, cupping the back of your head and pulling you in for a kiss. If the kiss in the lobby was intense, then you don’t have a word to describe this one. You can’t breathe, but it doesn’t matter. You could die a happy woman, being kissed like this; Nick’s tongue licking against yours, a low sound rumbling through his chest as he pulls you closer.
Your fingers find the buckle of Nick’s belt, your back curving awkwardly to give yourself the space to move. There’ll be no finesse here, but the two of you are long past caring. It doesn’t take you long to undo his belt and pants, and you feel his breath hitch when you slide your hand under his waistband.
He’s already rock-hard to your touch, and Nick breaks the kiss to moan into your neck as you take him out. His breath is hot against your skin, his hands sliding down to grasp your hips. With your free hand, you clutch his shoulder as you align the tip of his cock with your entrance and slowly sink down onto him.
You feel every inch of him stretching your soft walls. The consequences of no physical foreplay, though you’re at least wet enough that it doesn’t hurt. You bite your lip, trapping a moan in your mouth. Nick’s fingers flex on your hips. It’s rare that he lets you ride him and you can feel him itching to find a degree of control in the situation.
You tip forward when he bottoms out inside you, burying your face against his shoulder to stifle your moan. One of your hands clutches at his bicep; the other grabs a fistful of his shirt over his free shoulder. A full-body shudder runs through Nick, and he gasps against your neck.
“Oh fuck, baby-” he chokes out, his grip on your hips so tight you wonder if it might bruise. You’re not even moving, but that familiar heat is already radiating out through your body, lighting up your nerve endings. You keep your face pressed against Nick’s shoulder as you give a testing pull of your hips upward.
He hisses into your neck through gritted teeth, every muscle he has held taut as he tries to cling onto a degree of restraint.
“There’s not enough room in here, is there?” You ask in a whisper, your voice hitching as you sink back down onto him. “You can’t grab my hips and bounce me on your cock like you want to; I’d hit my head.” You feel his low groan reverberate through his chest. Knowing you need to be quick, you start to fuck yourself onto him, riding him as best as you can in the cramped space.
Nick brings one of his hands up to cup the top of your head, keeping your face tucked against his neck. With your head still, he rolls his hips to meet your movements. The shallow thrusts make the head of his cock push up tight against your g-spot with every pass, sending pleasure lancing through you. You turn your head to moan against his shoulder, muffling the sound in his shirt.
“That’s it, baby, ride me,” Nick manages, his voice tight. “You feel so fucking good, my perfect girl, just like that-” He knows hearing him will help you get over the edge - ever the gentleman, wanting to make sure you come first.
He needn’t have worried. The sheer relief of being with him again after wanting him for what felt like weeks, and the illicit nature of what you’re doing gives everything a sharper edge. You’re so wet you can feel your slick halfway down your thighs.
It’s dirty and fucked-up, and it’s so fucking perfect.
“Oh Nick-” you pant into his shoulder. Your whole body is thrumming, like you’ve touched a live wire. “You make me feel so full, wanna feel you all the time, fuck-” You’re rambling, careening closer to that orgasmic high. Another low groan rips through Nick as your cunt clamps down around him, muffled by him nipping at your neck. The feeling of his teeth on the delicate skin is enough to send you over the edge.
You chant his name mindlessly as you come, your face pressed so tightly against his shoulder to muffle your voice that you can’t breathe. Everything in you pulls tight and then lets go, delicious heat racing through your body until you can feel it in your toes.
The force of it makes you sag forwards against Nick, boneless. He takes over, rocking deeper and pulling you tighter against his body. You swear you feel his cock throb inside of you, the feeling making your cunt clamp down around him in turn.
Nick groans into your neck as he spills inside you, filling you up as he holds you as tightly as he can without hurting you. You’re both breathing raggedly; neither of you tries to move for a long moment.
“I can’t believe we just did that,” Nick murmurs eventually. You can’t help but snicker, your head still resting against his shoulder. You hear the click as he cracks his window; you assume the glass has steamed up. You resist the urge to swipe your hand against it like Rose in Titanic.
“Me either. Nicholas Amaro, SVU Detective, fucking a girl in public,” you tut teasingly. Your knees are starting to ache, but it’s not enough to make you move just yet; you’re enjoying being draped over Nick like this, still split open by his cock.
“What can I say? You’re a terrible influence, kid. I can never seem to get enough of you.”
“Oh, I’m the bad influence?” You sit up, shuddering at the feeling of him shifting inside of you. He’s giving you that smile; the one that oozes charm and shows off his dimples. Before you can object further, he kisses you. It’s softer this time, unhurried. You could stay here for hours under different circumstances.
“The worst,” Nick murmurs when he pulls away, running his hand down your back. “You incited a cop into committing a misdemeanour.”
“You were the one driving”, you point out. “If you wanted me to behave myself, you could have handcuffed me and ignored me ‘til we got back to your place.”
“Oh, don’t worry. The handcuffs’ll be waiting for you when I get you home.”

I've had this idea for a while and was wondering if you could please write it (nothing long or anything). How would the yandere svu (all the guys you write for) react to a reader who's just genuinely academically smarter than them. I feel like a few of them wouldn't take it well, and their reactions would be funny. Love your blog.
Mike Dodds is going to love that about you, and he’s going to brag about you to everyone he knows. “Look, this is my brilliant partner!” Only after his father talks to him does he see it as a bad thing, ‘a threat to his manliness.’
Sonny Carisi is going to be happy for you and proud of you, unless it comes to a you vs him situation. Like if you were both studying for the bar exam, or sergeant’s exam? He’s going to manipulate you to make you feel stupid for sure.
Nick Amaro likes a strong partner, so he probably won’t mind much. But if you make him look stupid in any way, he’s going to punish you for sure. And to his kids, he always has to be the smarter one. No question about it, and he’ll hurt you if you disagree.
Rafael Barba is… the worst. If you’re smarter than him, than you’re really fucking smart. He’ll be fine as long as you don’t try to outwit him or prove anything, especially in front of his co-workers. If you do, you’re getting manipulated and punished for sure.

I Hate You
Nick Amaro x Reader Oneshot
WC: 1091
A/N: Self Indulge fic. I like winter but damn it’s cold this year! The snow and chemicals are leaving me a mess and my floors a mess and I’d rather not deal with it at all. Only thing to make it better would be Nick. Enjoy! Please let me know what you think with likes/comments/reblogs whatever.
It was another blustery and frigid cold day in NYC as you stepped out of your building only to be met with a large puddle of melted snow so deep it got into your ankle boot soaking your socks and growl in frustration.
“Son of a bitch.” You continued to grumble.
You had grown tired of the New York winters long ago after Nick had moved off to California leaving you both in a long distance relationship but you without someone to share the house with, share a romantic stroll in Central Park through the snow with, or a cuddle on the sofa with. Now it’s just dull, grey, and incredibly cold…and currently very wet and annoying.
Looking to your watch you didn’t even have time to go back upstairs to change your sock and shoes or you’d be late for work.
Olivia had called and told you to be at the prescient promptly at eight so there was no time to hesitate.
Heading off you walked on, your boot sloshing and freezing before someone drove too close to the curb in the drain and splashed a mix of chemicals and slushy snow all over you taking your breath away at the blast of cold.
“F-fu-fuck.” You stuttered and gasped before turning and flipping your middle finger at the driver.
Finally arriving at the prescient, soaked, frozen and a sloshing boot, you put your case down at your desk with a huff and yanked off your scarf and jacket before spying Olivia coming over.
“You’re two minutes late.” She teased, not that she cared about two minutes.
“I had some trouble, okay?” You replied sharply, not really meaning to but you were throughly annoyed.
“Woah…alright. I can take a hint. I just thought you’d like to know we caught your perp you’ve been chasing. He’s in two.” Olivia tilted her head towards the room.
“Thanks Liv.” You said with an apologetic tone before rushing off towards the interrogation room not even bothering to take care of your boot or anything yet.
Opening the door you quickly walked in.
“Couldn’t hide forever…” you started before you looked up and straight to Nick’s hazelnut eyes. “N-Nick…”
“You’re right, I couldn’t stay hidden forever.” He flashed his famous smirk before opening his arms and you began to tear up coming to him, flinging yourself into his chest and burying your face into his neck taking a deep shuttering breath.
“I h-hate you.” You mumbled as tears dropped to his shoulder and he chuckled.
“What? Hey…hey what did I do? Hermosa why do you hate me and why are you crying huh?” He pulled you back just enough to cup your face gently in your hands, glancing over your face with concern.
“Because here you are…sun kissed skin, glowing even more than usual and you get to go home to Southern California while I get to stay here in crumby freaking New York City with forty more years of winter.” You took a deep breath and gathered yourself.
Nick laughed before leaning in and capturing your lips in a tender kiss. “I missed you…I actually came here to spend the week with you but I have a better idea.” You furrowed your brows wondering just what your boyfriend could be up to.
“You’re soaked mi amor.” He purred as he got a look at you. “Come on, you’re going home and changing then we’re going to cuddle and get you thawed out.” He flashed his knee weakening smile.
Later after arriving back at your place you had curled up with Nick and some cocoa under a cozy blanket.
“So I wanted to ask you something baby.” Nick asked softly breaking the comfortable silence.
“Yeah? You didn’t come across the country to sit with me under a blanket did you?” You hummed cuddling into his side feeling his lips press a kiss to your head.
“Mm no, not exactly but it’s a nice benefit. I get to warm my baby up.” He hummed wrapping his arm around you bringing you closer if it were possible. “I came to ask if you’d consider moving in with me.” He asked hesitantly, worried he’d be rejected. It wasn’t often something worked out for Nick Amaro and he had hoped after three years together and a year of long distance that this relationship worked out, that you’d live with him, move across the country with him.
You turned sat up a bit, looking to him, eyes searching his for any hint that he could be joking but found none. “Y-you’re….you're serious?”
“I…I mean…well yeah I was hoping so.” He said with a little waver in his voice worried he pressed too fast. “You hate winter. I miss you so much. Like really miss you. I want you to be with me and the kids. They miss you too. There’s nothing like having you in bed beside me every night and waking up with you in the morning. The sun shining on your hair and how cute you look with your mouth open and a little bit of drool.” He chuckled when you shoved him.
“I don’t drool, Amaro!” You shot back.
“You do! I can’t help it. I wipe it off with my thumb and you mumble before snuggling to my chest. It’s the most precious thing.” He laughed but looked over you with the most loving tender smile. “Amor…hermosa, I miss you so fucking much. Please? Will you come to California with me?”
You never thought about leaving NYC for real, but the opportunity never had presented itself, well never a real opportunity. It wasn’t an opportunity for Nick to come back to live here, his family and career had him there now and he loved it but the only piece missing was you. He just needed you.
You hated winter, if you wanted to see snow it wasn’t that far to go and see it to play for a day or two and ski but you wouldn’t have to deal with it daily, endlessly.
“Yes. Yes I’d love to. There’s nothing else I’d love to do more.” You cuddled back to Nick but kissed him deeply as he held your face and kept his forehead close.
“I love you so much. I can’t wait to have you with me daily again. To start our lives together in a whole new chapter.” He smirked against your lips knowing he had an even bigger question in store for you once you had moved in and settled in California with him.

Nick Amaro NSFW Alphabet
Guys I finished rewatching season 14 and I forgot how much I hate the storyline they give Nick. I love him as a character, but I would love to completely reconstruct his backstory. He has to be one of the most personally screwed-over characters in SVU. Am I the only one who hates the hidden love child-which I’m completely disregarding? Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this!
Warnings- Some Maria-hate (sorry not sorry).
A = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex)
Nick's aftercare is exceptional. He cleans you up, washing any mess he has made off you with a warm washcloth or a hot shower. Then it is cuddling and whatever you want in your post-glow bliss. Usually, it’s time for you to talk about whatever you want. Something you did, a movie you saw, an awful joke you heard that you laughed at but didn’t seem worth bothering him about. He wants to hear it all.
It’s a time that you have this full attention. Sometimes it leads to more vulnerable emotional conversations that he seems to have an easier time having when his walls are down after sex. Sometimes words are too much and the two of you just hold each other, caressing each other's bodies.
B = Body part (their favorite body part of theirs and their partner’s)
Nick’s favorite body part of himself is his hands. They are rough, calloused, and strong from years of sports, hard work, and shooting a gun. They are dexterous and versatile enough to accomplish his endless paperwork, playing catch with Zara, fixing things around the house, and his favorite teasing you with them until you come apart so prettily with his name on your lips.
Nick loves your entire body. He tells you all the time there is nothing he would ever change. He loves your curves and doesn’t discriminate between them. Why be a boobs or ass man, when he has two hands and a willing mouth that can have both and more?
C = Cum (anything to do with cum, basically)
Nick is a jealous man, and he knows it. You are his and nobody else. After spending a significant amount of time watching any another man try to talk or flirt with you there is nothing more that he wants to do than take you to his bed and paint his cum all over your body. It gives him undeniable satisfaction seeing his seed on your skin claiming you in the most barbaric way. He should hate it because it may be considered demeaning, but he can’t. Even later when he is cleaning you up, he smiles knowing the evidence of his DNA still lingers on your skin, clinging to you.
D = Dirty secret (self-explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
It’s not necessarily dirty but you made Nick come embarrassingly early by calling him Papi one day out of nowhere while you were riding him. He never liked the idea of being called daddy by his partners. It seemed weird to him but hearing the word Papi come from your lips as you took your pleasure from him did all the right things.
When you guys were basking in the afterglow, he casually asked you about the nickname. You had admitted that one of your friends had told you it was a common term of endearment for Cuban men but you seemed a bit embarrassed. Instead of just telling you he liked it he spent the next few months trying to casually reinforce the nickname whenever you used it by getting you off as many times as possible.
E = Experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they’re doing?)
Nick has experience. While he did go through a bit of a Casanova stage in his teens and early twenties, he has always been more of a long-term partner kind of guy. The different women did teach him about different ways to enjoy sex and a bit of experimentation. However, when he married Maria, it was narrowed down to what she liked. She liked sex that was very plain and vanilla, missionary mostly. She wasn't very interested in sex after she had Zara and what they did do was repetitive.
F = Favorite position (this goes without saying)
Nick’s favorite position is doggy. He likes the control of your body it gives. His hands are free to caress and massage you. He can take you with your back pressed tightly to his chest fistful of your hair to make you look at him and steal open mouth kisses as he thrust into you. Or he can push you down on your knees with your face in the mattress as he holds your wrist behind your back and pounds into you hard and fast. Moans and his name bouncing from the walls as he takes you deeper and deeper. He loves leaving Hickes and love bites on your neck and down the back of your shoulder.
G = Goofy (are they more serious in the moment? are they humorous? etc.)
Nick is a very passionate man but that doesn’t always translate into seriousness. You guys have had sex that you have laughed halfway through. You have been mid sex and his beard rubbed just right to tickle you and send you squirming with laughter that was contagious.
H = Hair (how well-groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)
Nick’s hair is dark and thick, and it curls when it gets too long. He keeps it trimmed up for hygiene's sake typically. He doesn’t think much about it when it gets overgrown when life is too busy, or he just can’t be bothered. When he is in a relationship, he keeps up on it more as a respectful consideration for you.
I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? the romantic aspect)
Nick is the definition of a Latino lover. He will spend his time with foreplay and the sex making sure you know how important you and your pleasure are to him. He calls you sweet nicknames and tells you how much you mean to him and how he has missed you and your body. If he pins your hands, he intertwines your fingers.
J = Jack off (masturbation headcanon)
Nick doesn’t masturbate often. When he does it's usually not to pleasure himself so much as to get a release from some stress. It’s quick and efficient and then he washes up and continues with his day or gets ready for sleep. He will also get himself off if he is horny, but you are not available or in the mood.
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
Nick’s love language is words of affirmation, and he has a major praise kink that he likes to mix with his dirty talk. He is also a bit of an exhibitionist. He likes to push the line of where you can have sex without getting caught. Just be careful while he’s drinking because it heightens all these kinks and can lead to some pretty close calls.
L = Location (favorite places to do the do)
Nick’s favorite place to have sex is the bedroom because it has the most options and comfort. He has become a big fan of the laundry room. While the space is limited, Zara doesn’t feel the need to interrupt when you go in there because she doesn’t think there is anything of value and would rather watch TV while you guys do the ‘laundry’ unlike when you guys try to sneak away to the bedroom or bathroom. There is a door so there is no risk of her getting in there unexpectedly. Nick has also found many uses for the dryer while it’s on that aren’t clothes-related.
M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)
Nick is not hard to convince to have sex or turn on. But he is a very visual man, and if you want to make him go feral wearing lingerie or one of his shirts buttoned halfway up is a good way of giving him an instant boner.
N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
Nick grew up with an abusive dad and he watched him beat his mom. He will never hit, slap, or do anything that could hurt you. An open-palmed smack on the ass is about as far as he will take it and that’s only if you enjoy it. He will never degrade you because it is against his morals of respecting women.
O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.)
Nick likes to get as much as he likes to receive. He wants you to sit on his face, sit not hover. If you don’t know the difference, he will pull you down on top of him and lick and devour your cunt until your legs are shaking to the point where sitting is the only option. He will work you up so well you will be riding his face. He loves 69ing too. Your moan vibrating around his dick from the pleasure of him eating out your pretty pussy? The answer is always yes.
Nick loves a good blowjob. You found that it can fix his bad attitude. He came home in a bad mood and was trying to start a fight about something petty and irrelevant. He was in the kitchen slamming stuff around as he was making his coffee, bitching about how messy it was. You knew it had nothing to do with you, and everything to do with a disaster case, and marched over to him and grabbed his belt. He froze at first not sure what was going on, but it wasn't complaints falling from his lips when you dropped to your knees and gave him a quick messy blowjob. When you were done and got back to your feet, you pecked his lips and told him you were late for work leaving him stunned. When you returned home the kitchen was clean, he had cooked homemade traditional Cuban food, and he apologized to you all night long with a lot more than just his mouth.
P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.)
Nick likes to make the foreplay slow and passionate, to make sure you are satisfied and ready to take him. When it comes to sex his preferred pace is fast and on the rougher side. Your body in his hands as he pounds into you your breast bouncing, head thrown back as you take him.
He does have a gentler side that comes out quite often. One that takes you slow and steady. He will kiss every inch of your body whispering Spanish words of endearment and praise against your skin. These are the times he wants to look you in the eyes and make sure you know his love for you in this physical act. That you can hear it, feel it, taste it, and see it in his eyes.
Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.)
Nick loves a good quicky. Life is busy, especially with a job like his and kids. Sometimes you just have to take those fifteen minutes and make them worth every second. It doesn’t always need to be long to be good and satisfying. Besides Nick enjoys seeing you after a quick tousle out with your friends or random people knowing exactly what causes that flush in your cheeks. Knowing that his cum is still leaking out of you and into your wet panties unless of course he still has them in his pocket for safekeeping.
R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.)
Nick is willing to experiment with his limits. He is willing to try any position you want at least once. He likes to push the limits where you two can get away with having sex. He likes the bathrooms at bars, the laundry room when Zara is preoccupied, and getting head when he is driving in low to no-traffic areas. He likes the adrenaline of the possibility, but he doesn’t actually want to get caught.
S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?)
Nick has stamina for days. He can drag out foreplay and sex for hours if you will let him. If you're planning on a sleepless night and are okay walking a little funny the next day you only have to give him about a half hour to recuperate and he will be ready to go again if you are.
T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
No, Nick’s not a toy guy. He is kind of old-fashioned and I think he might take it as a hit to his masculinity if you wanted to use them when you were in bed together.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
Nick is an ungodly tease. His sweet and dirty talk is second to none. He can get you wet just by telling you about what he is going to do to you. The innocent but consistent touches drive you crazy. Then when he finally has you in the bedroom you can almost taste the pleasure, he is going to give you. He teases you more and tisks about how impatient you are. “All good things come to those who wait, Corazón.”
If you want his teasing to stop, you will have to beg him or start teasing him back. He can give way better than he can take. You will have him changing his pace quick.
V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)
Nick isn’t loud but he is by no means silent. He likes to dirty talk, and praise you in bed with a mix of English and Spanish words. He grunts and moans but keeps the noise to a minimum when Zara is in the house. If he knows that there isn’t a risk of being interrupted or overheard that is when Nick gets louder and likes to fuck you to upbeat Cuban music.
W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)
Nick doesn’t know how to ask for attention or affection. He grew up with a controlling abusive father and a traumatized turned aloof mother. Then he married Maria, a strong-willed but distant and emotionally unavailable soldier. He never got consistent affection and doesn't understand his own need for it. He doesn’t consciously know he does it, but when he needs that affection, he will initiate sex even if he is not in the mood to have it. He will make it so good for you like he has to earn it. You will moan and call his name as he wrecks you with his fingers and mouth.
Then he will usually wave you off when you go to reciprocate even if he is hard. He knows that what he really wants is already within reach because when you are pleasure drunk and boneless it always means that you are willing and wanting to cuddle. Your fingers will stroke and play with his hair, your other hand wandering his back teasing tense muscles until they relax. It takes you a long time to figure out what he is doing and when you do it breaks your heart.
X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes)
Nick has a lean body with muscular arms and thighs. His chest is toned with a visible six-pack. He has a sparse dusting of hair on his lower stomach, a happy trail leading down to his goods. Nick is a big boy, above average in size. His cock is thick and long with a slight upwards curve.
Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
Nick has a pretty high sex drive but good control over it. While he would prefer to have sex four or five times a week, he doesn’t expect that. He has times when he becomes a sex hound, and you swear it always seems to match up to when you're ovulating. His sex drive can also completely diminish during bad sex crime cases.
Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
Nick is one of those rare men that sex boosts his energy, at least for a little while. The flood of endorphins gives him a giddy relaxed high. If it is a quickie or during the middle of the day, he will have the sudden urge to accomplish something, or if you're really lucky cook traditional Cuban food. If it’s time for bed you will almost always fall asleep before him, but he is content to lay in bed with you either just cuddled up or playing games on his phone until the high fades.
I forgot how long this prompt takes but hey there’s Nick’s! I have quite a few Nick miniseries that I’m going to be working on. One is the relationship building between the reader and Zara while still featuring Nick of course.
I have another series that will be more angsty and will probably take longer because it’s going to be a split vibe of what could have happened in a situation with Nick and the reader's relationship when tragedy hits. I’m excited to challenge my writing in that way.
Let me know if either of these piques your interest! I hope you enjoyed xoxo

Summary: (Y/n) often pops by the station to see her husband. But one afternoon, she turns up at the wrong moment and gets taken hostage.
Enjoy.

Tumblr media
A sigh burned past Nick's lips and he threw his head back over the back of his chair. His knees bumped into the edge of his desk and his left hand began to tap down against the arm of the chair while his other hand flipped the pen between his fingers.
He hated doing paperwork, especially when they hit dead ends like this and the cases seemed to go nowhere. He had the right mind to kick his feet up on his desk and try to catch up on some sleep. He had been working for over twenty-four hours straight now and he was desperate to go home to bed.
He let his eyes fall closed for a few seconds before he stared up at the ceiling. If he closed his eyes for too long he was liable to fall asleep on the job and he didn't need the headache that would cause.
"Nick,"
His neck cricked when he tilted his head forward to look over at Amanda. She was slouched forward over her desk, one hand tangled in her hair and the other hand splayed out on the desk. He watched the way she nodded her head and pointed ahead of her.
A grin pulled at his lips and the tiredness washed out of his face immediately when he cast a glance over his shoulder.
(Y/n).
He straightened up and hopped out of his seat, stretching his arms above his head before he moved across the floor. The smile stretched higher across his face the closer he got to her. It felt like forever since he'd last seen her, as if a lifetime had passed him by since he'd been at the station. Days and nights blurred together and shifts stretched on into eternity when they pulled all-nighters and went without sleep to try and catch their perps.
Nick could of stood there for hours, admiring his wife.
(Y/n) was stood in the doorway to the SVU lobby, leaning a little to one side so she didn't fully block the doorway or stand in people's way. Her hair was pinned back to one side but a few strands had fallen loose and fell to frame round her face and curl around her jaw.
Her heels clicked against the floor as she shifted her weight from foot to foot out of anxious habit. But it was the way she had her arms folded across her chest that made Nick smile. He wasn't sure why, but he loved the way she would curl her arms across herself like that and drag her fingers up and down her upper arms like that.
When her eyes locked with his, her lips curved into a grin and she stood a little straighter as he approached her.
"Hi," His voice was soft and oddly quiet against the rumbling background of heels clicking, voices shouting above the papers stacking on desks and the sound of doors slamming and hinges creaking.
Nick reached his hands out to cup her arms and he tugged her closer, moving her from the doorway so she was over the threshold. Her hands reached up to hold his shoulders and she dipped her head forward to press her lips against his neck while his hands moved down to cup her hips.
He squeezed her hips, scrunching his fingers around her dress that crumpled between his fingers and allowed the pads of his fingers to mesh into her waist.
"Everything okay?" He spoke in hushed whispers against the top of her head, rubbing his nose into her hair before he did a quick sweep around the room. No one was going to care if he disappeared for five minutes to talk to his wife. He hadn't seen her in almost two days, he was allowed to take a small break since she had come all the way down here for something.
"I need a favour,"
(Y/n) tilted her head up until her lips touched the underside of Nick's jaw that acted as a button, turning him to jelly in front of her. She felt his hands dig tighter into her waist and he stepped closer until his abdomen was pressed into hers and she could feel each deep breath he took.
She looked up at him, batting her lashes before he swooped down to steal a kiss. His lips were hot and heavy against hers and (Y/n) reached her hand up from his shoulder to cradle the side of his sharp jaw. She let her nail scrape along his chin, guessing he must have taken a moment to shave at some point during his long shift since he didn't have one trace of stubble anywhere.
"Go ahead," She could ask anything and the answer would always be yes, no matter what the favour was.
(Y/n) took a step back so she could slide her bag down from her shoulder to let it drop into the crook of her elbow. She let her eyes drift up to see the way Nick's smile morphed into a smirk that showed the intrigue wash over his face. He had no idea what she was about to take out of her bag or what kind of favour she was asking of him.
His lips rolled together and he bit the corner of his mouth when he saw what (Y/n) took out of her bag.
"Help a girl out, Amaro?" Her voice was so quiet and tender that Nick almost didn't hear her for a second or two.
He took the pre-filled and plastic-packaged needle from her hand and nodded. His arm moved to swoop around her waist and he reeled her into his side as he turned to face the middle of the room.
"Sure. This way, carino."
(Y/n) could feel his fingers gliding up and down her side like feathers tickling her skin through her dress. Her arms automatically moved back around her chest, resting over her bump while Nick guided her towards his desk. The seat was still warm when he motioned for her to sit down and she cast her eyes around quickly.
She knew who everyone was just by looking at them. She hadn't met anyone from the precinct in person yet but from how Nick talked about them and described them, (Y/n) could guess who they all were. And she figured they knew who she was when she looked at his desk and saw a photo of them both sat proudly on his desk.
Her attention moved back to Nick when he knelt down in front of her and turned the chair so she was facing him. He gave her knee a gentle squeeze and leaned his left arm to rest over her thighs that he parted so he could stand between them. A shiver rolled down her spine when he tore the packet open with his teeth and took out the needle.
"Can I?" He motioned his hand towards the hem of her dress and (Y/n)'s smile melted like butter.
Always the gentleman.
They were married. (Y/n) was asking for his help to take her insulin, and he was still asking for her permission to lift her dress so he could give her the injection.
Her lips pressed together to try and hide her smile and she nodded, trying to stay still and straight in the chair.
Nick held the hem of her sea green dress and slowly raked it over her thighs, relieved to see she was wearing a pair of small, grey shorts beneath her dress. He didn't feel like giving the whole squad room a view of his wife's underwear. He lifted her dress higher until it exposed her six-month bump that made his smile turn fonder.
He let her dress lay over her bump and didn't bother moving her shorts since they were tucked beneath her stomach anyway. They were getting rather tight since her stomach was expanding but (Y/n) didn't usually like to wear dresses without a short pair of shorts on underneath. Just in case.
"Ready?"
(Y/n) hummed and did her best to stay still when Nick pinched the side of her stomach between his thumb and finger. She let her eyes focus on his hair rather than his hands so she didn't have to see the needle. Needles were all well and good if they were used on someone else, but as soon as it was (Y/n)'s turn, she turned queasy.
She was slowly getting used to the slight scratch and the small burn it created and her heart fluttered when Nick brushed his thumb across the small dot on her skin when he removed the needle. He brushed away the tiny fleck of blood and leaned forward to kiss her stomach before he threw the needle in the bin beneath his desk.
"All done."
"Thank you," (Y/n) rolled her dress back down so it was draped across her thighs and her head lifted up to follow Nick when he stood up. She watched him move to sit on the edge of his desk and she felt his knee bump into hers while his arms folded over his chest and flexed his biceps.
"All good?" His head turned to look behind him at Amanda when she leaned forward with her pen trapped between her teeth. She didn't want to intrude but she just wanted to check everything was alright. In case Nick needed to go and take a break with (Y/n) for a while. This was the first time (Y/n) had come down to the station and Amanda wasn't expecting her to come here for that reason.
"I don't like needles," (Y/n) rubbed her hands together on her lap while she scooted the chair closer until her knees bumped into the desk and she could lean against Nick's leg.
"Blood clots?"
"Hm- oh, no, um, insulin. Oddly enough, the baby's decided to give me diabetes." (Y/n) smiled and leaned forward until she could perch her chin on her husband's knee. She felt his fingers feather across her shoulder and down her arm soothingly.
It hadn't been the best surprise when Nick took (Y/n) to an emergency appointment after she started going dizzy and coming down with shaking and feverish sweats. They found out she had gestational diabetes where she wasn't producing enough insulin due to the baby. There was a good chance she would be fine once the baby was born, they were hoping her body would go back to normal and sort itself out. Most women did.
But there was a chance of (Y/n) becoming diabetic after the baby was born and she prayed that wouldn't happen.
The medication to help her newfound condition didn't agree with (Y/n), it had made her violently sick and gave her horrid migraines. So the next solution when her levels didn't even out was to start taking insulin injections. But (Y/n) wasn't good at doing them herself.
Nick didn't mind.
He was all for being affectionate and helping his wife in any way he could and he had been giving her the injections every day. With him being at work for almost two days now, it meant he couldn't be there to help and (Y/n) thought she would come down to the station on the off-chance Nick might be here and could spare her a minute or two to help.
"That's rough," Amanda sank back in her chair and propped her feet up on her desk.
A gentle smile formed on (Y/n)'s lips as she tilted her head up to look at Nick while his hand feathered along her arm and around to her neck. She leaned her chin against his wrist and bit the corner of her lip.
"It's not so bad."
It meant she got to steal little moments like this every day with Nick and to see him smile down at her with that cheesy grin that made her heart flip. And they were getting a baby at the end of this, so it was more than worth the slight discomfort.
***
"Oh, hey (Y/n). Are you looking for Nick?"
A delicate smile pulled at (Y/n)'s lips as she dragged her right hand up and down her arm to try and stay calm. She treaded carefully over the threshold and made a beeline for the desk she knew was Nick's while her eyes looked around for Amanda.
She found the blonde approaching with a cup of coffee and she moved over to sit down at her desk opposite.
(Y/n) set her bag down on Nick's chair that was vacant aside from his dusty grey blazer jacket that was slung over the back of the chair. He hadn't gone far if he had left his jacket here, (Y/n) knew what he was like. He wouldn't go out without it as that was where he put his keys and his phone. It also helped to conceal his badge and gun, if needed.
"Yeah, well, I just thought I'd drop by and bring lunch." She slumped the paper bag down on Nick's desk and spent a few seconds scouting through her handbag. She made sure to quietly place Nick's badge on his desk near the desk phone, trying to do it quick so no one noticed. Nick hadn't been pleased when he had been in a rush to leave this morning and he couldn't find his badge.
(Y/n) found it an hour after he left and it gave her an excuse to bring lunch by the station for him. She knew what he was like, work came with pressure, new leads got in the way and before he knew it he had gone over ten hours without eating.
She reached into the paper bag and handed a wrapped sandwich out to Amanda. Her smile widened when Amanda just stared at her for a few seconds like she didn't know what (Y/n) was giving her, or why.
"For me?"
"Unless you're not hungry…"
"You, are a Godsend." Her face lit up with a grin when she took the sandwich offered out to her. Everyone would be willing to let (Y/n) hang around every day if she was this nice to them all. "Nick won't be long, he was just going to find some paperwork."
Moving her bag, (Y/n) let herself slump down into Nick's chair. She had managed to do her own insulin injections for the last few days but it was hard when she started to shake and it made her nervous. (Y/n) knew bringing Nick dinner would soften him up and give him a chance to have a break where she could ask if he wouldn't mind doing her injection again.
Her head tilted to the side and she slouched down a little to try and ease the discomfort in her back. Her hand moved to smooth over her stomach as she cast her eyes around the station.
It didn't seem as hectic today.
No one stood in a corner arguing and cursing to high heaven. No clattering people in handcuffs being moved from holding and dragged into the corridor. There weren't people hanging around arguing or being moved into separate interview rooms and no one was making a commotion.
It was oddly calm today. This was the kind of day Nick liked, where they could concentrate and finish paperwork and not have to worry about doing ten different jobs all at once.
"You okay?"
"Hm." (Y/n) managed a smile and nodded. She felt fine, she just had a headache which probably meant she would need to take her insulin soon. She usually had an injection after she had eaten, depending on how well her blood sugar levels were as they varied from day to day.
After a few minutes, just as Amanda finished her sandwich and went to look back through her paperwork, a loud clang rattled through the squad room and made all the distant chatter dwindle down.
(Y/n) leaned her head back and looked over her shoulder just as a large, burly man shouted "Don't touch me!" And flung his arm out at Olivia who was trying to guide him inside.
(Y/n) rolled her lips together and sighed as she turned back to face Nick's desk. That guy seemed the macho type, the kind of person who didn't like being told no or being ordered around or told to do something. She could see the way Amanda grimaced and visibly rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"I'll go see if Liv needs any help. Thanks for lunch," Her hand gave (Y/n)'s shoulder a squeeze as she walked past. They didn't need a scene being caused when today had been a calm, laid back kind of day. And Amanda knew the guy Olivia had brought into the squad room. He was rather hard to talk to and calm down and he was their main suspect in their newest rape case.
Sitting forward, (Y/n) clicked her back into place and danced her fingertips over the photo frame on the side of Nick's desk. He had one of them on their wedding day, and one of him and Zara that (Y/n) had taken.
Her hand moved across to her temple again when she felt her headache getting worse.
Maybe it would be worth her going to get a drink while she waited for her husband to get back.
She kicked her bag a little further beneath Nick's desk so no one would see it and try to run off with it. Not that anyone would get a chance when there were officers mulling about the place and Finn was sat at his desk a few feet away.
The blood seemed to rush down to her feet when she stood up and she had to take a moment to control herself and stop from letting her head loll forward and stop her knees from giving way. Her legs trembled but after a few paces, (Y/n) felt like she was herself again and the blood was circulating properly through her body. She would need to get her insulin soon though in case that was making her feel worse. She had eaten her lunch already and usually needed insulin after eating.
Nick dragged his fingers through his tousled hair and looked down at his phone just as the lift chimed and the doors opened up. He scrolled down through his phone but he only took two steps out the lift before he looked up and felt the tiredness washing out of his system completely.
"Carino," His lips curved up into a wide grin and he slipped his phone in his back pocket as his eyes set on his wife.
He was getting rather lucky these past two weeks with (Y/n) appearing at the station. It meant he didn't always have to slump at his desk and daydream about going home to see her. He didn't have to frown or grow tiresome, he just had to look up every now and then and she turned up and brightened his day and his mood.
His arms swooped around her the moment she was within reach and he pulled her to the side out the way of the oncoming people passing up and down the hall. A shiver rolled down his spine when (Y/n)'s cold hands pressed against his neck and slithered beneath the collar of his shirt.
She tugged him down until he was close enough to kiss and he could taste the sweet tea remnants on her lips.
"You both okay?" His left hand splayed out on her lower back wile he slipped his right hand between them to cradle her stomach. It was as if the baby knew exactly where they were. Nick stroked his thumb across her shirt when he felt a small kick against the palm of his hand.
"Hm. I found your badge, it's on your desk along with dinner." (Y/n) smoothed one hand down Nick's chest, tapping her fingers over his shirt beneath his tie that she wanted to take off.
"Oh, thank you," He murmured against her lips and he sank his teeth down into her bottom lip just to feel her jump and grab at his neck. "Shall we?"
"I just need the toilet."
Nick moved his hand round to squeeze (Y/n)'s hip and let his lips linger over hers for a few extra seconds before he finally let her go. He attached his lips to the side of her neck as she moved to walk past him and he felt her squeeze his shoulder as they moved in different ways.
He watched her round the corner before he moved into the squad room. His eyes landed on his desk straight away and he made a beeline towards it. He noticed the large paper bag on his desk before his sight shifted over to his badge in front of the picture of him and Zara.
Nick clipped the badge onto the waistband of his trousers over his belt. He didn't have time to find it this morning, he had been running late and it annoyed him whenever he put something down and went back later and couldn't find it. At least (Y/n) had found it for him, and a smile danced across Nick's lips at the thought of (Y/n) using it as an excuse to come down to the station and see him.
His hand drifted into the paper bag but he barely managed to peak his head inside to see what (Y/n) had brought before he stopped.
Someone was shouting.
Raised voices. Olivia and Amanda were shouting. A man was raising his voice and bellowing something so loud and fast Nick couldn't work out what he was saying.
The sound of more yelling and someone saying 'drop the weapon' made a shiver bolt down Nick's spine. He tilted his head to the left and glanced over at Finn who was already pushing up to go and see what the commotion was.
A sigh blundered past Nick's lips as he moved away from his desk and jogged out the squad room into the corridor. He needed to get near the toilets and make sure (Y/n) didn't come out into whatever situation was happening out here.
It felt like Nick rounded the corner at the exact wrong time.
The air got caught in his lungs and stones started to drop down to the pit of his stomach.
Drew. Their prime suspect in their current case.
Everything happened in slow motion. No one had chance to try and grab him, all they could do was stand near the other end of the corridor to block off his exit, but it didn't do much good. The toilet door opened at the very worst time and Nick immediately knew who it would be.
Nick ran forward but he wasn't quick enough to do anything. He was too far away and his heart physically clenched in his chest when he saw (Y/n) open the door. Before Nick could grab her attention or shout at her to close the door, Drew, their suspect, grabbed (Y/n).
He almost pushed her to the floor with the way he scrambled to grab her before someone could grab him. He was clearly thinking off the top of his head and muddling through this as he went along. One hand fisted in the back of (Y/n)'s hair and he used her hair as leverage to drag her out of the doorway and out into the corridor.
A panicked cry flew past (Y/n)'s lips and she reached out to try and dig her nails into whoever had suddenly pounced on her.
She tripped over her feet and her right arm spasmed when her elbow collided with the wall. Panic surged through her chest and she choked on her shallow breaths when she was dragged, stumbling out into the corridor. Stars danced across her eyes and her knees almost buckled if it wasn't for the hand screwed up in her hair.
But as soon as she stopped wobbling, the hand left her hair and a forearm pinned around the front of her throat. Her back slammed up into someone's rough chest and the back of her head bashed into his shoulder.
Tears welled up in the corner of (Y/n)'s eyes when she felt the barrell of a gun press into the right side of her temple.
Oh dear.
He had a gun. He was now keeping (Y/n) as a hostage. Why had he decided to grab her of all people? Why was he doing this on the day (Y/n) had come into the station? Why didn't she head back into the squad room with Nick where she would have been safe?
"Drop the gun Drew. Now!" As fast as anything, Nick unclipped the gun from his belt and aimed it at Drew, but he couldn't get a clear shot. Not with his wife in the way.
He tried to take a few steps closer as his shoulders hunched up and his elbows locked in place. He could feel Finn hovering close beside him, his own gun aimed out ready to take an emergency shot if needed. Both Olivia and Amanda were stood on the other side of the corridor, blocking off Drew's exit so at least he had nowhere to try and take (Y/n).
"Drop it!" Nick raised his voice and moved the gun to aim it at Drew's head, but it didn't phase him in the way he wanted it to.
"No! I think I'll keep her as insurance. So why don't you all back off?"
Leaning back, (Y/n) tried to tilt her head a bit higher to make it easier to breathe. And she dug her nails into the arm strapped around her neck like an iron bar.
It took a few seconds for her eyes to land on her husband but when they did, she could feel herself beginning to shake.
Nick looked frightening. Shoulders hunched up and tense, arms popping through his shirt. Gun aimed at the man behind her. His nose was crinkled and his upper lip was curled up in anger but it was the look in his eyes that made (Y/n)'s knees go weak. If looks could kill she would have been safe and back in his arms by now.
"Let her go. We can work something out, but you need to let her go." Olivia tried to get Drew's attention and when he looked at her, it let Nick get two feet closer towards them.
(Y/n) tried to stop the tears that were starting to fall down her face but she couldn't seem to help it. Shakes were rattling through her body now and she knew the man behind her could feel how badly she was starting to tremble. It made him tighten his arm around her neck which in turn made (Y/n) gasp.
She tilted her head forward until her chin was pressing down into Drew's forearm and her eyes stayed locked on her husband.
Nick held his other hand out in front of him and rose his brows, trying to keep his expression calm but it was hard to hide the anger pulsing through him. He needed to try and stay calm so (Y/n) didn't go into a panic attack.
He had to protect his wife.
"How about you let me walk out of here with her… or she gets a bullet."
(Y/n)'s knees quivered when the gun moved away from her head and suddenly pressed into the right side of her stomach. He had figured out she was pregnant.
Her teeth sank down into her bottom lip as she tried to keep her eyes on Nick and stay calm. Crying wasn't going to do anything to help their situation and she had to keep focused. But it was hard when the gun pressed deeper into her side and the uncomfortable feeling made her try and move to the left. It was bad enough that her headache had come back with vengeance and her body was ransacked with trembles.
Now the baby was starting to twist and kick and (Y/n) wanted to be sick. And she could see how Nick's stance changed, he straightened up and aimed his gun at Drew's temple. Both his wife and unborn child were now being threatened. Nick wasn't going to stand around and let Drew make demands and try to get away from this.
"If you do anything to hurt her, we can't help you. Let her go, and you can still walk away from this."
"And the rape charges, you can drop those and help me with that, can you?"
Nick's eyes narrowed when he looked across at (Y/n). He waited until Drew twisted to the side to look at Olivia who seemed to be trying to control the negotiations. Nick tilted his head to the side and parted his lips, trying to silently ask (Y/n) what was wrong. He could see the way her expression changed and she started to shake her head.
She tried to move one hand down near her stomach while Drew was occupied looking over at Olivia. And she pressed her index finger into her stomach a few times to try and get her silent message across.
She needed her insulin.
She didn't feel well. The headache and the shaking was most likely because she was lacking her injection and if she didn't get it soon, she was going to go into a hypo state.
"Drew, you'll go to court for those charges. You can convince a jury you're innocent, we can talk to the witnesses, see what we can do. But you have a whole station full of witnesses here. I'm sure no one would make a complaint if you let her go now, but if you hurt her, you won't even get a trial."
He had a chance. He had a chance to convince a jury that he was innocent, even if no one here believed him and they knew he was guilty. He still had a fighting chance if he got a good lawyer and that was all he could get. They needed Drew to see that hurting (Y/n) was going to cement his time in prison and he had witnesses this time. If he hurt her, he wouldn't get away with it but if he let her go, no one was liable to press charges. At least, they needed him to think that way so he wouldn't do anything rash.
"Let her walk me to the door. No police, none of you following us, then I'll let her go."
"We can't do that Drew." Nick spoke before Olivia had the chance to agree or try to negotiate again.
He saw the look of terror in his wife's eyes and there was not a chance in Hell that Nick would let her out of his sight. He wasn't letting Drew try and take her hostage because he didn't believe Drew wouldn't hurt her in some way. He might try and get her out the building with him to make a better escape. That wasn't happening.
"Then I'll hurt her!"
"Nick-" (Y/n) snapped her eyes closed and dug her nails harshly into the arm around her neck when he rammed the gun into the side of her stomach. She knew she should be thankful he didn't pull the trigger on purpose or by mistake. But the blow was harsh and so sudden it took all the air from her lungs and left her gasping as he held her up by the arm around her throat.
"No! Drew don't- you don't need to hurt her okay? Don't!" Nick held his free hand out in front of him and took a step closer before he could stop himself.
He could feel Finn try to grab his shoulder but he shook him off. This was his family and he didn't care whether Drew found that out or not. He just wanted to keep them safe.
"I- I… feel sick." (Y/n) leaned her head forward and tried to pull on the arm around her neck. She felt like she was going to faint and now he'd hit her, her stomach was suddenly churning along with the baby turning around. If she didn't throw up she was definitely going to collapse soon without her insulin.
"We're leaving. Now."
A strangled sound left (Y/n)'s lips and she let her knees buckle so he wouldn't be able to move her so easily. She wasn't going anywhere. She wanted to be sick. Her body was giving out and she needed him to let her go.
Her fingers scratched down his arm and she pulled as harshly as she could while she moved down.
Whatever he shouted into her hair made her cringe and cower down but she couldn't work out what he was saying. Static built up in her ears that became overpowered by the sound of her blood rushing through her ears. Her head was pounding and throbbing and weighed forward.
(Y/n) let her arms coil around her waist and she tipped her head down when she felt people closing in around them.
"Drop the gun!"
Before Drew could try and heave her up to her feet again, Nick bolted forward. He grabbed Drew's wrist and twisted it round to the left until he heard a successful click and the gun dropped down to the floor. Amanda swiftly tossed the gun to the other side of the corridor where an officer moved to pick it up while Nick slammed his elbow down between Drew's shoulders and pushed him onto his stomach on the floor.
(Y/n) couldn't tell who it was who grabbed her elbows and helped to shuffle her forward but she swatted her hands out either way. She didn't want them touching her. She didn't want to move. She wanted to go to sleep. She was ready to power down and forget this had ever happened.
Nick clamped his hand down on the back of Drew's head and bashed his face forward into the floor until his nose cracked and blood started to pour down his face.
"Cuff him!" He shrugged off the hands trying to pull him back. He wouldn't do anything else, he wouldn't jeopardise getting Drew sent down for this, he just had to do something that would cause Drew the kind of pain he had put (Y/n) through.
His chest heaved and sweat rolled down the back of his neck as he moved away from Drew who had his hands pinned to his lower back so they could cuff him and get him moved.
Nick turned his attention away while his chest heaved and he moved to kneel down next to (Y/n). She had her arms pinned near her head so she could get Amanda and Finn to let her go. She swatted her hands out and cried out until they got the message. (Y/n) didn't want any of them. The only person she wanted was Nick.
"Carino… carino, baby it's me. It's okay." Once his voice registered in her ears, Nick moved his arms out for her.
He wrapped his arm around her back and moved his other hand to cradle the back of her head. His lips smothered her cheek as he rested his chin on her shoulder and pulled her into his chest. The way she grabbed his bicep with a sudden fierce grip made him jump but he didn't say anything. He reeled her into his chest and curled around her like a safety blanket.
"Alright, shh. Let's get you up carino."
Both (Y/n)'s arms wrapped around Nick's bicep and she buried her face in his shoulder and pressed her side up into his chest until he curled back around her. She let him gently pull her up to her feet and his hand clamped down on her hip to keep her standing upright when she wavered in his arms.
He moved his lips to the back of her head while his hand started to glide up and down her arm like feathers brushing against her skin.
"Call a bus." Nick glanced over at Amanda who nodded and grabbed the radio on her waist.
"Home," (Y/n) tilted her head back to look up at Nick and for a brief moment, she saw a smile flicker across his face. He flashed his teeth and shook his head as a breathless chuckle left his lips.
"No carino, I'm not taking you home. We're going to hospital, for you and for me. I think I've had a heart attack." He spoke into the top of her hair as he gently guided her towards the squad room. He was relieved his desk was close by and he kicked the chair round so he could ease (Y/n) to sit down.
Nick tried to pull back but he couldn't exactly move when (Y/n) dug her fingers into his bicep and pulled on his arm. She kept his right arm pinned around her chest until Nick sighed and leaned over. He curved his left arm back around her waist just below her shoulder blades and carefully rested his hand on her stomach. He didn't know whether to touch her stomach or not in case he hurt her, but when she didn't wince, he left his hand there to feel the baby move.
She could feel him kissing the top of her head and she kept his right arm bound against her chest with her temple pressed into his shoulder. Nick stayed stood up beside his desk chair and leaned over so he was curled around his wife.
He knew from a different angle he looked rather weird and odd, leaning over like this with his lower back and bum arched out. But he didn't care. As long as he made (Y/n) feel safe and kept her calm, he would stay hunched over her like this until the paramedics arrived.
"D-don't let go."
"I'm not going anywhere carino." He spoke quietly into her hair and he realised he was slowly swaying them from side to side. "I gotta give you your insulin soon, don't I?"

this was what i did for my "based on my day" challenge (i spent it watching svu season 14 lmfao) its also my first time writing for nick amaro or any detectives in general so I'm sorry if he's a bit ooc, its also a crossover with criminal minds and i think i made up the whole technical analyst assistant thing but that's my job in my criminal minds DR lmfao. hope you enjoy :)
this includes alcohol (reader consumption), use of Y/n, and possibly wrong wording for FBI stuff?? the reader likes children (in a not creepy way). Jennifer Jareau
summary: the BAU's technical analyst assistant develops quite the crush on SVU's detective Nick Amaro
masterlist

Tumblr media
You sat quietly in a bar, sitting amongst a group of FBI agents you knew well and a few detectives you’d just recently had the pleasure of meeting, chatting about the now-closed case and a few chatting about their children, you hadn’t spoken much, too busy trying not to stare at Detective Nick Amaro.
“Detective Amaro, this is Y/n L/n, she’s our technical analyst assistant, our official technical analyst is back at Quantico focusing on another case” Your boss, Aaron Hotchner, introduced you to one of the detectives you’d be working with for a necrophilia serial killer case,
You two spent the last few days working very closely together on this case.
Penelope had been working on another case and due to a small fire that you and Penelope accidentally started with a candle in your already small office, Hotch decided to bring you with the team to Manhattan.
And of course, with your luck, Penelope couldn’t be there to fangirl over the hot detective with you, so you had to deal with the consequences of your short attention span all on your own, (granted our beloved Spencer did try to relate and fangirl with you, he did his best, but he was quite busy getting into conspiracy arguments with Sergeant John Munch).
Now that the case was over, Hotch decided that the team was in no rush back to Quantico and could leave in the morning, so while he called in early and left back to his hotel, the rest of you went out with some of the SVU detectives,
Including Nick
of course.
“What about you? Got any kids?” Nick asked, accidentally snapping you out of your trance, as he handed JJ back her phone after she showed him a photo of her boys.
“Oh, uh”
fuck, he smelt good, why did Derek have to sit you right next to him??
“No, no kids, I do adore them though” You smiled in a way you hoped wasn’t too awkward, before Emily spoke up “She’s great with them too! I mean they just love her”
Nick smiled at that, nodding as Emily talked.
You laughed awkwardly in response, “she’s exaggerating” you whispered just loud enough for Nick to hear, earning a laugh.
oh my god, he LAUGHS?
“As much fun this has been, I’m gonna call it a night” JJ announced, standing up from her seat, her actions mirrored by Spencer as he agreed.
They were shortly followed by Olivia, Fin, and Emily. Derek went home with a pretty girl (obviously) and finally, Rossi left with Rollins, after she offered him a ride back to the hotel.
That left, you and Nick, alone
of fucking course
“So, miss L/n, how was your first time in New York, huh?” He asked, taking a sip of his bourbon or was it whiskey? Maybe scotch? You couldn’t remember
“Oh, you mean besides the corpse-loving freak? Pretty great, thanks for asking, Detective.” you joked, feeling less intimidated thanks to the vodka cranberry sitting in front of you.
He laughed, “Yeah, dumb question” he shook his head almost embarrassed but you were eating it up.
“How was your first time working with the BAU, hm?” Nick smiled as you practically hummed the question, he thought it was cute, and you could tell, which only boosted your confidence.
“Gotta be honest, I was worried you guys would swarm in and take everything over but, it was a lot easier than I expected” You nod in response,
“A lot of people think that, but typically it’s an ego thing. was it an ego thing for you, Nicky?” The nickname had slipped off your tongue with ease as you teased your schoolgirl crush, having called him that just a few days ago when you first started working together.
Nick scoffed, “What? No, absolutely not” but the small smirk on his lips was a dead giveaway. “Okay, maybe it was kind of an ego thing, just a little bit” he whispered his confession. You all but giggled in response
“It’s gettin’ late, what do you say I walk you back to your hotel huh?” he offered, standing up and putting his coat on before reaching for yours
“I’d like that, thank you, Detective” You smiled, standing from your seat and sighing as he carefully put your coat on for you.
The hotel wasn’t far but god you wished it had been, it would’ve given you some more time to flirt with the most beautiful man you’ve ever seen in your life
(exaggerating? Pft nuh-uh)
But yet, here you stood, in front of the tall building that ruined your excitement.
“Hey, uh how would you feel if the next time you were in New York, I took you out?” Nick asked, shoving his hands into the pockets of his jacket, his tie hanging loosely around his neck.
You smiled, hoping the lights surrounding you both hid the blush on your cheeks instead of accentuating it. “Or if you’re ever in Virginia?”
He smiled, nodding.
“I think I’d like that a lot” You responded, quietly, suddenly very sober.
“Great, have a safe flight back home, alright?”
it's already over
“Thank you for walking me back, Nick”
“Anytime, goodnight, sweetheart” he smiled once more.
Sweetheart
“Goodnight, detective”

Day 16:  Bath/Shower Sex (Nick Amaro x F!Reader)
(For the 2022 Kinktober event offered by @the-purity-pen.  The original post and calendar/list can be found here.  So very, very late because I had other things I needed to do.)
CW:  Established relationship; (shower sex; hand job) 18+ only.

Nick comes home in a bad headspace:  long shifts working a series of date rapes at Hudson, another case failing in front of a grand jury.  He just wants to collapse into bed and try to sleep, but he hasn’t seen you in days, has only fallen asleep beside you for a few stolen hours before he had to be back to work.
You’re on the couch when he gets home, and he sheds his coat and shoes before coming over to kiss you.
“My wayward boyfriend,” you say with a soft smile.  “To what do I owe the pleasure of finally seeing you at a semi-reasonable hour?”
“Caught the bad guy, and my grand jury fell through.”
Your smile drops, and you press your lips together in a sympathetic frown.
“What can I do to help?” you ask, and you reach out to take his hand in yours.  “Did you eat yet?”
“At the precinct.”
“Want me to put the game on for you?”
Nick squeezes your hand gently, shakes his head.  “Nah.  I just need to shower and then maybe we could go to bed?”
Your smile returns, and you kneel on the couch, stretch towards him, your neck craining to kiss him again.  “Sounds like a plan.”
*****
It’s immediately obvious that Nick needs sleep more than anything, judging by the three deep, jaw-cracking yawns he makes when he’s just stripping out of his clothes.  His eyes water at the force of each yawn.
Though you’d never say it….the man looks awful.  His complexion has an unhealthy cast to it, and he has deep circles under his eyes.  There’s a spot where he missed shaving that morning, and a second spot where a cut has only just healed.  He hasn’t been eating right, and he certainly hasn’t been sleeping.
As much as you’ve missed him, it wouldn’t be fair to make him stay awake when he needs hours of good, quality sleep.
And yet, you’ve missed him terribly.
So you split the difference and wait for him to climb into the shower, and then you join him.
If there’s one thing about Nick that genuinely irritates you, it’s how he never takes care of himself…and how he scoffs when you try to take care of him.  You guess that it’s a symptom of his upbringing—his father was no treat, and he grew up under the usual patriarchal bullshit that taught him men don’t need care.  Or maybe it’s just his work—detective work is usually thankless, and working with special victims is extra rough.
“What are you—” he starts to ask when you peel back the shower curtain, but you cut him off with a quick kiss.
“Hush, Nicholas.  Let me take care of you.”
If you get irritated by his lack of self-care, you do love how much he enjoys being babied and cared-for, when he finally gives in to it.  Nick Amaro, resident tough guy:  he practically purrs like a big cat when you lather up and help him bathe, kneading your fingers into his knotted back and shoulders.
When you help him shampoo his hair, you scratch your nails into his scalp, and the man groans like he’s being tortured…but then he wraps his arms around you, pulls your naked form to him, and you can feel how aroused he’s gotten despite the soul-deep exhaustion he must feel.
“I’ve missed you so much,” he mutters against your ear.  “Let me rinse off—”
You cut him off again, this time by reaching down and grasping him—lightly, but it’s enough for him to choke against the rest of his words.
“Shhh.”  You tilt your head towards him, and he kisses you.  You break away a moment later, shift your head.  Kiss the side of his neck, kiss under his ear where the hinge of his jaw is.  You lay a gentle trail across his collarbones, pressing your lips in the divot of his throat.
“I want to take care of you,” you whisper against his wet skin, and you grip him more firmly, give him an experimental stroke with your hand.  He huffs out a frustrated breath against your head.
“I won’t be able to….shit, if you make me come now, I won’t—”
You tilt your head again and gaze up at him, offer him a soft smile.  “You can make it up to me later, Nick.  Let me take care of you now.”
He doesn’t answer—he just huffs another frustrated sigh—but he presses his hips forward into your hand, which is answer enough.  You shift a little, find firmer footing in the slippery shower.  You wrap your free arm around his shoulders, lay your hand on the back of his neck to hold him against you.
Then you shift your other hand against him.  You get a better hold of him and begin to deal him languid strokes.  You bend your head to watch:  the flushed head of his cock slipping between your clenched hand, the tip wet and leaking. You swipe your thumb against it, use the slickness of his pre-cum to lubricate the stroking and twisting of your fist.
“You can…harder,” he groans after a moment.  “Harder.  Please.”
You oblige him with a grin.  You were never a natural at hand jobs, always too gentle, too afraid of being rough and hurting what seems to be a sensitive part of the body.  But you squeeze Nick harder, nearly enough to encircle his thick cock with your fingers, your fingertips almost touching the tip of your thumb, and he hisses praise in your ear at the sensation.
“Fuck, don’t stop,” he mutters, and his hips find the rhythm of your hand, meets you thrust for thrust.  “Feels so good.”
You keep going.  You huff out a breath, a low moan when his hand reaches down to grasp the curve of your ass, but you don’t stop stroking him, twisting your wrist so that the bend in your hand where your fingers meet your palm run along the sensitive underside to his cock.  You can sense him unraveling—his shallow thrusts lose their cadence, and his breathing takes on a ragged quality—so you grip him harder.
He comes a moment later:  a hoarse fuck spilling from his lips, the hot spill of his cum spurting over your hand, up your wrist, across your belly.  He digs his fingertips into your hips, hard enough that you may have bruises, and he chokes out your name as he finishes, then calms.
You can feel how relaxed he is now.  Your hand on the back of his neck—you can feel how the release, the hot water of the shower…it all helped to loosen the tight knot there.
It doesn’t stop him from feeling guilty, apparently.
“I could live a thousand years and still not deserve you,” he grumbles against the side of your head.  He shifts his hands, settles one between your shoulder blades and the other to the back of your head, cradling you gently against him.
“I like the thought of you living that long and trying though.”
“Hmmm.”  He moves a little, presses a light kiss to your temple.  “How about I start with a date night tomorrow, huh?  Take you out for a nice dinner, maybe some dancing…”
“I like the thought of that too.”
Nick pushes away from you a fraction, just enough so he can peer down at you, those earnest brown eyes of his almost pleading.
“You take good care of me, mi alma,” he says.  “I’ll make it up to you.”
You purse your lips at him and he kisses you.  When you part, you tell him with a smile, “that’s just what good girlfriends do, Nick.”
You turn away from him then, so you miss the way his expression turns soft, turns maybe a bit introspective.  If you would have stayed facing him in this moment, he might have cracked—might have blundered out a half-assed proposal, might have mentioned the ring he had picked out.
But you turn away and reach for the washcloth and soap, so Nick has a beat to get himself under control.  To stick to the original plan of proposing in a month’s time, though he’d be happy to be married to you now, to drag you down to the courthouse and make you his wife now…because you take care of him, and he wants to take care of you too.

nick amaro x reader // law and order SVU - yet another one, same universe as this moment (ft. a hint of the criminal minds team because I can)
-
“Nick, you coming?” Liv calls out to Nick who trails behind the team as they exit the court.
“Nah, you guys go ahead,” Nick responds, his eyes darting around along the hallways of the courthouse as soon as he steps out through the doors.
“Are you really passing up on a chance to empty Barba’s bank account?” Amanda asks.
“Have a few more drinks for me,” Nick responds absently as he pulls out his phone to tap swiftly at the screen in attempt to pull the court schedule for the day on screen. It takes a couple of seconds of scrolling before he locates his target - your name marked against a short list of information which includes a courtroom number. He bids the team farewell in an almost hasty manner, a shine to his eyes that the team knew only meant one thing - you, before turning sharply on his heel to make his way down the hallway.
-
Nick locates the courtroom without much difficulty. He slides in silently through the doors before slipping himself into a seat at the back. He’s caught you in the middle of your closing submissions. The content is sombre, gruesome even, with your caseload being mostly in homicide, but Nick doesn’t focus in the words, choosing instead to let himself hone in on the way you glide up and down the bench of jurors in -‘ easy, but carefully thought up positioning. He lets his gaze travel along your face, the side of your jaw. You look magnificent - is what Nick decides as he hears the hum of your voice drawing itself to a conclusions as you deliver the final few lines of your closing statement.
“Thank you,” he hears you say as you hold the gaze of the jury for a beat more, before making your way back to your chair, heels clicking against the polished floors.
He listens to the judge give directions to the jury before banging the gavel down. The courtroom erupts in a buzz of noises - chairs shifting, murmurs and movement as the jury shuffle out to deliberate. He sees you stand, only to be caught by two tall men - one lanky and in a sweater vest, the other in a suit. Nick recognises them as Agents Reid and Hotchner from the FBI, Agents whose team he knew you worked with now and then. He doesn’t leave his seat, content to watch you engaged in the conversation as your hands move in tandem, gathering your belongings off the desk.
You turn, as you move to sling the straps of your bag onto your shoulder and Nick’s gaze finally meets yours as your line of sight lands on him, a lone figure in the back row of the courtroom. It makes your face brighten, the difference stark enough to cause both Agents to pause and look back.
Nick stands, as you begin to make your way towards him while still conversing with the Agents who follow in step.
“I guess we’ll see,” is what he hears you say to the two men who hum in agreement, “it’s out of our hands now.”
“Detective,” Agent Hotchner’s greeting is accompanies by a wave from his lankier companion.
“Agents,” Nick returns the courtesy as he steps out, slipping his hand casually, and easily into yours.
“I’ll see you both,” Nick feels you lace your fingers through his, as you signal the end of the conversation to the two profilers who give you quick nods. He takes it as his cute to lead you towards the door of the courtroom, which you gladly take.
“I’ve said it before” he begins as you both slip out into the hallway, past the lingering crowd, “but the courtroom suits you.”
“You say it every time,” you chuckle as you feel him tighten his hold on your hand. It makes Nick smile.
“Dinner?” He asks, as you both find yourselves walking towards the lifts. It was one of those blessed Friday that you both were done with work for the day at a reasonable time. Nick had caught enough of the judge’s closing remarks to know she had directed the jury to reconvene their deliberations on Monday.
“Chinese?”
“You read my mind.”
“Can we not get out of bed till the weekend is over,” you stretch your neck to a side as you both stand in front of the lift doors waiting for the elevator to hit your floor.
“We won’t move an inch,” Nick brings the back your hand up to his lips, pressing a kiss into your skin.
“I’m holding you to that,” you say looking at him, watching the corners of his eyes crinkle in amusement.
“Maybe more than an inch,” he winks at you before dropping both your hands between you both again, “but without leaving the bed.”
“Nicolas Fiorello Amaro, Jr.” you chide with a grin.
“Save that,” he says before leaning his lips over to brush against the side of your head, “for the weekend.”
