“Between the ballerinos at the Mariinsky, who do you think will someday be promoted to principal?”

Philipp Stepin, Roman Belyakov, and Nikita Korneyev are my top 3.  Maybe Caixeta eventually, but he has a long way to go.

Ekaterina Shipulina, Svetlana Zakharova, and Kristina Kretova with Anna Nikulina as my favorite Grigorovich ballerina.

I think she is incredibly talented and has done a very good job transitioning from the Academy to the theatre and I am watching her career very closely.  She made a huge improvement from her first two years in the company.

Die Nebel von Avalon 70: Quoth the Raven

„Das Schwert der Mysterien ist verloren…blickt auf den Kelch, blickt auf die Heiligen Insignien…der Kelch ist verschwunden. Er ist verschwunden. Er wurde uns geraubt…“

Morgaine geht zu Raven. Die jungen Priesterinnen, die Raven dienen, haben wohl nichts gehört. Jaja, das Personal ist auch nicht mehr das, was es früher mal war.

Raven murmelt etwas von Excalibur, Verrat und Sturm, der Avalon mit sich reißen wird. Morgaine hält sie im Arm, während es draußen gewittert.

Niniane hat übrigens auch nichts gehört. Aber sie begleitet Morgaine, Raven und Nimue zum Spiegelsee.

Nimue sieht im Wasser, dass der Merlin, also Kevin, die auf Avalon verbliebenen Insignien – Kelch, Speer und Schale – aus der Heiligen Kammer holt und zu Excalibur bringt. Dann erscheint ein flammendes Kreuz.

Morgaine verkündet, Kevins Verrat müsse bestraft werden. Der Plan ist folgender: Nimue soll nach Camelot gehen und als Gwens Hofdame aufgenommen werden (sie ist Lances Tochter und kann ja so tun, als sei sie Christin). Sie soll niemandem erzählen, dass sie auf Avalon war. Dann soll sie Kevin verführen – der ja glaubt, aufgrund seiner Behinderung könne ihn niemand lieben – und dann nach Avalon bringen.

Wo er dann einen Verrätertod sterben soll, der ziemlich eklig, schmerzhaft und langsam sein wird. Die Details erspare ich euch.

Auch Morgaine wird (verkleidet) nach Camelot gehen und Raven besteht darauf, sie zu begleiten, egal wie mulmig Morgaine bei dem Gedanken ist.

„Jede Straße, die du gehst, Morgaine, kann ich ebenfalls beschreiten.“

Wohin du gehst, da gehe ich auch hin; wo du bleibst, da bleibe ich auch?

Am Abend vor Ostern liegen Morgaine und Raven kurz vor Camelot in einem Heuhaufen. Raven sagt, sie fürchtet sich, weil sie auf Befehl der Göttin ihren Schutz verlassen musste. Ich vermute, dass sie uns nicht mehr lange erhalten bleibt. Morgaine hält sie fest und sie haben wieder Sex, wenn ich das Buch hier richtig interpretiere.

Auf Camelot ist viel los und ein Bauer erzählt Morgaine, dass Artus und einer der Priester heute ein Wunder organisieren wollen, bevor man dann zur Tafel schreitet. Morgaine und Raven verstecken sich in einer Ecke, von der aus sie gut sehen können, was passiert.

Artus und Gwen betreten die Halle. Sie sehen noch genauso jung und blühend aus wie ehedem:

Auch Gwenhwyfar […] war schlank wie immer – ihre Brüste wirkten allerdings schlaff.

In Morgaines Nähe fassen zwei Bauersfrauen den Plot des Buches und der Gwen zusammen: Priester und Druiden nutzen die Religion, um die Leute in den Klassenunterschieden zu halten; Gwen wäre auch nicht so schön, wenn sie tagtäglich auf einem Feld arbeiten müsste; sie ist unfruchtbar (aber sie war ja mal eine Zeit lang nicht am Hof! (das war die eine Nacht, die sie bei Meleagrant verbracht hat, du Huhn)), man erzählt sich, Galahad sei Artus‘ Bastard, Mordred ist definitiv sein Bastard und außerdem der Sohn einer avalonischen Hexe, oder der Sohn von Morgaine und Lancelot, und Morgaine hat sich mit Artus „gestritten“ und ist ins Feenreich gegangen.

„Aber jeder weiß, dass sie an Allerheiligen auf einem Haselzweig um die Burg fliegt, und jeder, der sie sieht, wird blind.“ Morgaine zog das Tuch über ihr Gesicht, denn sie musste kichern.

Ich auch. :P

Lance ist auch da, hurra.

Patricius betritt die Halle und will die Heiligen Insignien heute dem christlichen Gott weihen, was Morgaine absolut nicht zulassen kann. Sie ruft die Göttin an und erscheint plötzlich als strahlende Jungfrauengestalt, hält den Heiligen Kelch hoch, der sich mit Heiligem Wasser füllt, und geht dann in ekstatischer Trance durch den Raum, von Ravens Kraft unterstützt. Patricius trinkt, Lancelot trinkt, Artus trinkt, Nimue trinkt…

Bibit hera, bibit herus, bibit miles, bibit clerus, bibit ille, bibit illa, bibit servus cum ancilla, bibit velox, bibit piger, bibit albus, bibit niger, bibit constans, bibit vagus, bibit rudis, bibit magus. Bibit pauper et egrotus, bibit exul et ignotus, bibit puer, bibit canus, bibit presul et decanus, bibit soror, bibit frater, bibit anus, bibit mater, bibit ista, bibit ille, bibunt centum, bibunt mille,

alle trinken, plötzlich scheinen auch die Toten wieder an der Tafelrunde zu sitzen (Lot, Balin, Drustan – „ermordet von dem eifersüchtigen Marcus“ – ich dachte, der wär einfach nur verbannt worden?).

Morgaine trinkt als Letzte und bringt dann mit Raven alle Macht auf, Kelch, Speer und Schale verschwinden zu lassen, in die Sicherheit von Avalon. Sie sollen zwar nicht mehr für avalonische Riten benutzt werden, weil sie durch den christlichen Altar entweiht sind, aber die Christen sollen sie auch nicht haben, so!

Als der Zauber getan ist und alle wieder zu sich kommen, sind sie ganz durcheinander. Die Ritter der Tafelrunde machen es sich zur Aufgabe, den Kelch – den heiligen Gral, ne? – zu suchen, was dazu führen wird, dass die Tafelrunde in alle Himmelsrichtungen zerstreut sein wird. Nimue führt den Merlin aus der Halle. Die einfachen Leute sind völlig überwältigt.

Raven ist tot.

Morgaine trauert um sie. Artus, von dem man nicht weiß, ob er Morgaine nun erkennt oder nicht, gibt Morgaine einen Ring, mit dem sie bei den Stallburschen ein Pferd holen soll, um Raven an den Ort zu bringen, an dem sie beerdigt werden soll.

Morgaine verlässt mit Ravens Leiche die Halle und spürt, dass sie nun nie mehr nach Camelot zurückkehren wird.

At 20

We've all got stories to tell. At 20 years, I've got plenty. I'm sure we all do have lots of 'em. Some of them are happy, some sad, some quite interesting, some may be painful. Oftentimes there are these moments in life that will make you wonder if your life is actually going in the right direction, or if it ever will. In these moments, there are these people that give you feelings you never thought could exist---it's like they've created a whole new universe of emotions stirring inside your heart. Some of these people come for just a day, or maybe they last a week or a month; some stay forever, some say goodbye two times and never come back. They make you feel special and create within you wells of feelings that give you quite the very best moments you'll treasure dearly. And sometimes, those who leave you on the second day or the second week, or the fifth month, well, they usually are the ones who give such a lasting impact that you carry on for the rest of your life. Their goodbyes make you cry for several nights, and on some unexpected times when you stumble upon a song or a film that reminds you of relationships that could have been furnished, or of moments that could have brought upon a smile on your face. A million times, you will cry for them. Then, you regret the choices that you did and you didn't make. And that, my dear, makes life more beautiful than it actually is. These choices you regret, the people you meet and those who leave, and the moments that you can remember---these are the things that add plenty of color in life, adding a bit of bright reds and pinks and greens here and there. It's undeniable that you'll have heartaches, but you know what? Life goes on. I didn't know who specifically said that, but it sort of gives meaning to everything that had happened to me so far. In every goodbye, and every heartbreak, in every pain and tragic turnarounds, what happened is that life just continued to go on. And long as you live, it will continue to do so. So, cheers to everyone who just had two decades of their life finished. You've got lots of moments and stories to tell, and now is your time to share it to the world. Now is the perfect time to start living.
