Walk in the woods on a rainy sunday.

So peaceful, barely anyone is out there when it’s cold and rainy. So quiet, only the calming sounds of nature.

My hands freezing cold as I’m taking picture after picture of these lovely green leaves and stunningly beautiful trees.

Sunsets and Long Exposures

Before the recent storms I was able to head out to a spot along the local coast to do some exploring and set up a few compositions. I was most intetested in featuring the incoming storm clouds and the really cool rock formations that this location has to offer as foreground interest.

These clouds really do a great job of leading the eye into the frame as they function as leading lines due to how they just out into the water. This is important because it adds depth to the photo and tends to give the viewer the feeling they could possibly step right into the image and walk off into the distance.

I shot this on what is almost certainly my favorite camera I have ever owned, the Nikon D750 (I paired it with the Nikkor 16-35 mm f/4 wide angle lens). I've owned more compact and contemporaty set ups, higher resolution set ups, and setups that were far more suited for hybrid (an equal balance between photography and videography) run-and-gun style shooting, and while I do like other cameras more for their video features, the quality of the Nikon image files never fails to bring me joy.

I had briefly toyed with the idea of selling the camera some time back to balance out a little of the cost of a newer rig I was tempted to buy, I'm glad I didn't. I most definitely would have regretted it.

Here's a few photos from a trip I took to Galveston beach with my friends and family. It was nice to get out to the beach since it's so hot outside lol I got a terrible sunburn tho. I went to Galveston like a year ago and took some pictures, but looking at them now they're not my favorite photos that I have taken I think I could have done better. So I feel like I redeemed myself a little bit with these new ones ^⁠_⁠^ it's crazy how much you can improve in a year!

Capturing images of my P. #Natalensis #graveyard tub before relocating it to my fruiting shelf, I stumbled upon this specific fruiting body and its vivid illustration of a #saprophyte's relentless tendency to devour and proliferate. It's fascinating to witness how it zealously consumes even its own remnants, those lingering fruiting bodies left to wither between flushes. Moreover, the withering fruiting bodies seem to undergo a transformation, with their tissue reverting to exploratory #mycelium, as evidenced by the broken stipe and the mycelium trailing down its back in the photo.
