Kinsey: Just don't do anything stupid and dangerous, okay?
Bode: Seriously? 🙄
Bode, 2 minutes later: *Uses the Time Shift key even though Duncan warned him not to, fucked with their past even though they already defeated Dodge and BROUGHT IT BACK, then got his mfing body snatched by Dodge and is trapped as a ghost*

Why the hell did Bode tell Dodge and Eden that he knew they were going to lose when he went back to the past? Why did he think that was smart idea?

Frozen Love -Tyler Locke
Tumblr media
Summary: The readers parents kick her out in a winter time. When Tyler sees the reader freezing out in the cold he takes her back to he's place and tells her that he loves her.
Pairing: Tyler Locke x fem reader
Pronouns: her/she/hers

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Get out of my house!" Was the last words that Y/N heard until she was thrown out into the winter night. It was hard for Y/N, she had tried to be the perfect child her parents want her to be, but nothing work no matter how hard she tries.
Y/N only took was a few clothes with her and she is left to survive on her own. No one can help her out, no one to turn to.
Y/N walked out in the snow in only in a hoddie and with a small backpack with her. She wrapped herself around feeling the cold breeze hit her. She should of put something more warmer in this winter time, instead in a pair of jeans, a top and a hoddie on with a pair of boots.
Y/N stopped and slide down on wall, sitting down in the white snow. She brought her knees to her chest trying to create some warmth in her, as her eyes start to flatter.
Only Y/N can think of is the one boy in her English class.
"Y/N?" And there he was Tyler Locke. The one boy Y/N was thinking about. Standing in the snow where she was with
Y/N look up and look at Tyler with her tired eyes feeling her body cold everywhere, from the top of her head to the bottom of her toes.
"Tyler?" Y/N asked seeing Tyler's sorrow blue eyes.
"Jesus what are you doing here?" Tyler asked helping Y/N up. Once she got up her legs couldn't take it as she start to full but Tyler caught her.
"Hey. Take it easy" Tyler said holding onto her as Y/N eyes water.
"Your freezing let me take you home" Tyler said ad Y/N shake her head none stop.
"No! I-i-i c-can't. Don't t-take me home" Y/N said letting a tear come down her face.
"Hey! It's okay. Y/N look at me" Tyler took Y/N face to look into each other eyes as Y/N hold onto Tyler wrist.
"Everything is okay, okay? I'll take you back to mine okay?" Tyler explain while Y/N nodded in response.
Y/N pick her backpack up as Tyler wrapped he's arms around Y/N waist and help her walk.
"Your so cold!" Tyler said trying to give her some of he's warmth to her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once the two got to keyhouse Tyler guide Y/N to the couch and sat her down at that time they got in Kinsey walked down the stairs seeing the two.
"What happened?" Kinsey asked walking over to the two as Tyler wrapped a blanket round Y/N shoulders.
"I found her out in the snow freezing to death" Tyler explain walking out the room to find something warm for Y/N.
"Are you okay?" Kinsey asked taking Y/N cold hands.
"No, i-it's m-my parents" Y/N stutter while shivering.
Tyler walked back in with Bode helping him with some blankets their carrying.
"Here" Tyler said wrapping them around Y/N.
"Is Y/N okay?" Bode asked worried about her.
"Don't worry Bode. Why don't you help mom make some hot cocoa for Y/N" Kinsey said guiding Bode out the room do Tyler and Y/N can have a moment.
"You getting warm?" Tyler asked rubbing her hand with he's thumb.
"A little" Y/N said nodding.
"What happened? Why can't you go to your house?" Tyler asked as Y/N sigh and look away for a moment.
"M-my parents kicked me out," Y/N said fighting back tears.
"What? Why?" Tyler said.
"Well they want me to be there perfect daughter. Take over their business after I graduated" Y/N said but stop herself.
"There's something else is there?" Tyler said catching on her. Y/N nodded while tears pour down her cheek.
"Every time I do something wrong or get a lower score on my test. T-they hit me" Y/N said as Tyler eyes grew.
"I'll kill them" Tyler said but U/N stop him before he could do anything.
"No just stay with me please" Y/N plead as Tyler look into her eyes he knew she's not going back there without him in he's sight.
"Your staying her with me" Tyler said bringing Y/N in a hug as she let more tears fall and onto he's shirt.
Once they pulled apart Tyler look into her eyes and lean forward wanting to kiss her soft lips. He's had a crush on her since he first lay eyes on her.
"Um, am I walking in the wrong time?" Kinsey asked walking in with hot cocoa in her hand.
"Not at all Kins" Y/N said ad they both pulled away.
"Mom said you can stay as long as you want" Kinsey said giving Y/N the cut of hot cocoa of her's.
"Thank you" Y/N said while she looked at Tyler who was already looking at her.
The night spend with the three sat by the fire warming up talking what plans they would do and Y/N feeling happy being with the Locke's along with her crush there to save the day.

I think about this a lot. How the relationship between Kinsey and Nina is both a parallel and an inverse of that between Ellie and Candice. How Candice could have been a glimpse into Nina’s future if she didn’t actively decide to get better.

SPOILERS for Locke and Key season 3 episode 8 (final episode)
Ok, I'm done. Wow, feels weird, honestly. Can't believe it's actually over...
So, first up, Gordie and Sam. I knew it, I freaking knew it. Doesn't mean I wanted it to happen though. Gordie dying, actually giving his last breaths to make sure Kinsey, Tyler and Ellie would make it out alive... ouch. Even worse, he tried to stop Gideon from breaking free. He tried, knowing that he was gonna die, to create a literal mental block strong enough to withhold Gideon. He didn't know the echo's strength so he failed, tragically. I know he was really only important for one episode but I hoped he'd make it. And as for Sam... as mentioned in previous posts, I cared a shit ton for that guy and his involvement. He definitely deserved better that that. Although I know that it was meant as payment and "debt forgiveness". Still hate it.
Now, Gideon. Wow I hate that guy. Cheers to the actor though, I don't know his name, but the way he delivered, man, he made me angry. Real impressive acting. And super happy this dude is gone!
Rufus, Ellie, Jamie and Josh, you know I love you guys, you're great, please always stay the way you are. Love how things ended for them, eventhough I'm a little sad Josh is never gonna know the truth and Jamie will forget eventually.
Duncan and Brian deserve happiness more than anything. I love them.
Gald to know The Savinis managed to finish the film and that it was really such a big success! Good for them. I could've watched the Q&A for hours, no problems. Really surprised Scot showed up but yay! (Shave though, please. He looks so... mature. Old.) Cool line with the Good, Better and Excellent thing. And I'm happy Kinsey might join him soon <3 I would have liked to see Jordan again though, just for old times sake, yknow?
I'm glad Tyler has found his peace, or at least some kind of it. I'm still not a huge fan of the whole Carly-thing, but a road trip sounds great and if Tyler really likes Montana so much, that's amazing! I know he'll miss keyhouse and I think he's gonna come back a lot of times, as often as possible. Even without any event, just because he wants to.
I know Nina is gonna do fine. She has Josh and her Kids and Ellie. She'll be happy. Bode too. He found a best friend in Jamie and is working on being on good terms with Josh (which, BTW, amazing! Love how the made that little peace offering. I think these twos will have a great relationship and will become very close friends).
Now as for what actually happened... I do like that the keys are gone now. And I like how they chose to resolve everything. Throwing the keys in meaning closing the portals was brilliant and brings everything to a nice end. I loved the montage for it, showing bits and pieces of what the keys did and what the characters went through with them (not everything, not a lot or even the main points, just moments were it fit, nothing to sad or emotional, just... epic, in a very simple way). It was well done, that's all I have to say.
And for maybe the most important scene I can just say yes. Yes, wow, thank you. I honestly had a few tears forming when they saw Rendell again. The conversation with him brought me closer to crying than anything this season has and the hug at the end let the tears spill. It fit perfectly but was also so sad to just suddenly see them in the hallway again, still hugging, just without Rendell. It was good to have that last conversation, I think.
For now, that's all I have. It's literally 45 min till midnight and I want to sleep, but watching it was worth it. Feels like some weird sense of closure at the moment.

My Peak TV Journey *Locke & Key*
I am a fan of the comic books ok on which the tv series is based, so I had been waiting for the series for a while. But then I took a while to actually watch it, because the amount of tv out there and the amount I’m already watching is intimidating. I didn’t watch the first season until the second was out and then I took my time getting to the third. This reflects my television viewing habits more than my feelings about the show. I think it’s really good. I would like more, but also think it’s for the best that it wrapped up before they had to deal with the young cast really aging. After all, the comic on which it’s based ran for years, (not including one off spin off stories), all took place within a year.
It treads a lot of similar territory to Stranger Things, and  over the long run works better in pacing, use of the ensemble, and making sure that episodes feel like episodes. But I understand why it didn’t have a similar break out success. For starters, it’s later, so people are primed to dismiss it as derivative. Second, Stranger Things had a much stronger opening batch of episodes. The first half of the first season of Locke & Key struggled with tone balancing. The lead character are all experiencing grief over the father’s recent murder.  But then there is the excitement of discovering the magic keys. The worst of this fell on the youngest Locke child character, Bode. (I hate to be annoyed by child acting.) This struggle between necessary plot points and getting the right tone was also an issue with the first season of Bates Motel (name checked in the series) which was all co-developed for television by Carlton Cuse. As with Bates Motel, once Locke & Key has set enough ground work to get really crazy, it takes off.
The series is very lore centric. Lots of exposition in the dialogue about what makes the keys, what each one can individually do and the history of the family that made them. The second season is the best because they had gotten enough of the exposition out of the way so that the characters could breathe, and nothing new had to be introduced to help wrap things up.
I do generally really like the Locke family, especially the teens, Tyler and Kinsey. I liked both of Tyler’s romances, which is rare on this type of series. He’s a warm enough character that even when he’s acting out you can’t really be annoyed with him. But the star of the family is really middle child and only girl, Kinsey. Part of me wonders if she didn’t become the star because the actress, Emilia Jones, also starred in the Oscar winning film Coda. But even without that she’s the most interesting of the Locke kids. She messes up her grief by physically removing the part of her that fears, but then gets deeply involved with horror fan community/amateur film making crew who call themselves the Savinis (afterfamed horror make up artist, Tom Savini, who also has a small role in the series as a locksmith).
I mostly enjoyed the Savinis and the film series, Splattering. Unfortunately only the least interesting members were around for the final season, but at least that meant Kinsey wasn’t lonely.
I want to take a moment to write about Darby Stachfield as the mother, Nina. I always enjoy her presence and I think she did a good job with plots about her alcoholism and moving on from her husband’s violent death. She had a good chemistry with the actors playing her children. I think she seemed a little awkward when she knew about the magic of the keys, but mostly stay happy to see her. The series primarily uses fantasy tropes to explore children learning about their parents' trauma and difficulties while developing their own more adult bonds to each other. It needs some strong parental figures to work, and Stachfield, as well as Aaron Ashford as an uncle who can answer some questions, provided that.
In fact I just enjoyed the time with most of the characters. One of my biggest complaints about the series is that they killed off Eden at the end of the second season. I wanted to see her either get redeemed or become the biggest bad.
I’m not going to complain about things like the town’s public school having a dormitory presumably for plot and budget reasons (not having to build too many sets, not having to cast parents, keeping kids reliant on already introduced characters). It’s a fantasy, and I’m happy for a fantasy with better functioning public schools than in the real world.

[ID: Gifs of two scenes from Locke & Key, organized in sets with two gifs each, one from each scene. To the left is a scene from season 1 episode 1 when the Locke family first arrives to Keyhouse. As they exit the car, Bode exclaims "Whoa! Are we rich?". Nina stands behind Bode, hands on his shoulders as she tells him "I don't know if I'd say rich, so much as very lukcy kid". Tyler and Kinsey stand a bit behind Bode and Nina, looking less excited. Sarcastically, Kinsey mutters "Yeah, I feel so lucky…". Tyler says "It's bigger than the pictures. It's also a little more Norman Bates". The scene to the right is from season 3 episode 8. Bode, Kinsey and Nina help Tyler load his car before Tyler sighs and they all turn to look at Keyhouse. Tyler tells them "I never thought I'd say this, but… I'm gonna miss this place". Nina and Kinsey glance at him before Kinsey asks "Even if it's a little Norman Bates?". Tyler glances at her as he says "Turns out it was a lot Norman Bates". Below the sets is a single gif from the scene from season 3 where Bode confused asks "Who is Norman Bates?", causing the others to look at him and laugh. END ID]
