Valancy walking out of her hostile family home in quest for her Blue Castle to the tune of Feeling Good, the ultimate villain origin song!
I've always loved this song, but what fascinates me is how the lyrics reference nature: birds flying high, sun in the sky, breeze drifting on by (oh, she loved the wind), fish in the sea, river running free, blossoms on the tree, dragonfly out in the sun, butterflies all having fun, stars when you shine, scent of the pine. Very LMM. Then: sleep in peace when day is done. Valancy used to sleep badly before, but not anymore. New dawn, new day, new life, new world is a bold world--and freedom is hers!
Nina Simone's version is, I think, the best known, but many artists covered it. I like the Muse version too.

After the Ignitus’s sacrifice to help them through the Belt of Fire, Spyro and Cynder now have to traverse through the burning wasteland on their own, narrowing avoiding geysers of lava, soaring over rivers of magma and occasionally fending off Malefor’s minions scouting the lands.
As they trekked further towards Malefor’s fortress, Cynder was not the only who was plagued with concerns and doubt.
Many thoughts had raced through Spyro’s mind about what had happened earlier after Ignitus had seemingly perished in the Belt of Fire. How he had almost lost himself to his darker form, nearly doing something he would regret in a futile attempt to save the very dragon he came to consider a father although it was too late.
Since his final confrontation with Gaul in the Well of Souls, Spyro had dreaded ever being forced back into that form. A very powerful but fierce mass of darkness. A seemingly unconscious force of unbridled destruction. It had felt like he couldn’t control himself. All he could do was see through the eyes of a stranger as his body had brutally obliterated Gaul, transforming the Ape King into solid stone before completely obliterating him into dust.
Spyro had every right mind to hate Gaul for his part in the raid of the Dragon Temple, smashing up thousands of dragon eggs, killing thousands of unborn hatchlings cold blood. Spyro had every good reason to never forgive Gaul for his role in stealing Cynder’s egg and his involvement in corrupting her.
However, the sight of the ruthless Ape King be destroyed just like that happened so sudden. And what made it terrifyingly shocking was the fact that he had done it. All because of what his exposure in the Well of Souls had did to him.
After sealing his friends and himself in the time Crystal he had conjured during the cave-in and escaping the Mountain of Malefor with Hunter’s help in the past three years, Spyro had hoped he would never take on that form ever again in the fear he would end up hurting the ones he love.
It had actually terrified him that it had happened anyway. He had been severely stricken with grief over the loss of Ignitus, the very first dragon to ever believe in him. His mentor, his father-figure.
He had feared he would have completely lost himself if Cynder had not calmed him down.
How quickly things have changed since they had embarked on their quest to put an end to this war.
It almost felt like a long time ago Spyro had freed Cynder from Malefor’s influence and saved her. And that night she had left the Dragon Temper because she couldn’t cope with her guilt, it had broken him. He did not want her to leave.
Despite what she had done in the past, it was not her fault. She had been used by the Dark Master, an unwilling puppet dragged along by its strings by the true villain behind all the pain and suffering all those years.
Spyro had forgiven her and gave her the benefit of doubt. Ever since, he had seen her an ally. A companion. A good friend.
Perhaps… maybe even more.
And the more he had thought it, she had also saved him. Twice in fact.
Back in the Well of Souls when Spyro struggled to regain control of himself, Cynder was the one to snap him out of him. And just now, she had talked him down when his dark form resurfaces through his grief over the loss of Ignitus. And she even comforted him.
He would have never made it this far without her.
Next Ignitus, she had meant a lot to Spyro than she’d ever know.
She was his anchor. His fire. His light of hope.
Spyro knew that Ignitus would wand him to move on and focus on their journey and out an end to Malefor’s reign of terror once and for all. He can’t — WON’T — his mentor’s sacrifice be in vain.
No matter what, Spyro can’t avoid to lose anymore people he came to care about.
Sparx. His adoptive dragonfly parents, Flash and Nina. Cyril, Volteer and Terrador. Hunter. And Cynder.
He would die for them. Cross the sky for them. They were all he needed. Wherever he is now, even Ignitus’s spirit will send a light burning him alone. And the fire of their love will guid him home.
And will Cynder always beside him, he will always have something to fight for.

The Legend of Spyro 3D: Differences
Tumblr media
The differences the movie had from the video games, according to the Story Draft:
• The Dragon Temple is attacked by The Dark Master's "Gobelin" army, rather than the Apes, when they come to take the egg. The Apes do not make an appearance at all.
• Ignitus brings the egg directly to the dragonflies, rather than sending it down river to be found by chance. The dragon race and the dragonfly race have an ancient pact and he calls on them for help.
• Nina's name in the movie is Luna.
• The Dark Master is a living, physical being, not an ancient soul trapped behind a portal. His appearance is still not revealed until later, though, as he always speaks from the shadows.
• There is a bat-like creature named Pox who seems to be The Dark Master's right-hand man, or "pet."
• Cynder is corrupted by The Dark Master himself, rather than by the Ape King, Gaul. He uses a giant red crystal called the "Life Gem" to corrupt her. The "Life Gem" is a sacred dragon relic that holds the souls of all dragons who have died. Because of this, The Dark Master becomes stronger the more dragons he has killed.
• More indepth Spyro and Sparx childhood, including a Dragonfly village, a little more detail on their way of life, and Spyro and Sparx's first day of school.
• School teaches an emphasis on the dragonflies' fight or flight response: always choose flight when in danger.
• The Gobelins attack the Dragonfly village and Spyro learns that he can breathe fire when he tries to stop them from killing his parents.
• Spyro runs away from home, unbeknownst to his parents and Sparx. Sparx still catches up with him later, though.
• Hunter makes his appearance early on, and takes Spyro and Sparx to the Dragon Temple to meet Ignitus.
• Ignitus tries to teach Spyro a little bit of fire, ice, and electricity.
• Spyro learns to fly when Gobelins attack the Dragon Temple.
• Sparx is a lot more brave, fighting off a couple of Gobelins to help Spyro, and later encouraging Spyro to stay and fight instead of running away.
• Cynder kills Ignitus.
• Mole-Yair and his people rescue Spyro, Sparx, and Hunter from Cynder. They are also mentioned to "look" at Spyro with "hope in their eyes," meaning they are not blind.
• The Dark Master attempts to kill Cynder for failing him, diminishing her power and returning her to her true, small form.
• Spyro has barely learned any elemental abilities before having to confront The Dark Master's army, but he gets better at using them through the duration of the battle.
• Spyro defeats The Dark Master by destroying the Life Gem, which causes him to fade away.
• Ignitus comes back to life in the end, along with the other Guardians (still Volteer, Cyril, and Terrador).

hi!! congrats on 1k followers!!<3
i would like to request option 2, romantic ship for grishaverse:) i’m a girl, use she/her pronouns and would love to be paired with any girl (just not nina, i see her as a bestie) i’m 5’4, have shoulder-length brown hair and hazel eyes. i have soo many favourite tropes but mutual pinning and like being kinda mean at the start but not bullying each other own my heart.
i’m intj, slytherin and a virgo. i can come across as cold hearted or just mean but it’s something i use to not let people get to me. i’m a very confident and don’t care what others think of me, most of the time. i’m a calm person unless someone gets close to me, then my mouth can’t shut around them. i’m a huge nerd and an overthinker. i’m also an introvert but i’m more active and bubbly when i’m around my friends. i don’t like talking to new people but when someone interests me even a tiny bit, i’m full on talking with them, even when i don’t know them that well. i value my own company and comfort so much, sometimes maybe even too much. i’m determined, stubborn and try to do everything perfectly even tho i know most of the time it’s not possible for everything to be perfect. i could say i talk too much but i see it as a positive thing. also i kinda feel like i have an old soul with a huge heart and am a hopeless romantic. i try to never loose hope especially if we are talking about dreams or goals and i believe even impossible can be achieved. i’m a huge dreamer, but try to stay as realistic in my everyday life as i can.
when i see someone struggling mentally i literally try to do anything to help them, as much as they let me and as far as it’s not damaging for me. i’m a very cuddly person because it helps me remember that everything will work out eventually:) i prefer staying home for the evening but i also adore going out to do something fun like going to lunapark or even cinema once in a while. to be honest i just want to find someone who would be my love, my best friend and partner in crime. i would do literally anything for love.
now some of my hobbies:i love writing(it’s like my whole personality) - stories, poems, letters, drawing and just creating things in general. i love plants and taking care of them, same goes with animals. if i could i’d adopt a whole zoo;> my favourite animals are lynxes, dragonflies and hyenas. (what a combo, i know). i love iced coffee but it has to be sweet and learning about things i’m actually passionate about. i don’t want to say i’m childish but i adore doing things my inner child is excited about. i loove chocolate and cotton candy. music and movies are huge part of my existence and when someone knows the same things i do i literally want to adopt them so we can talk, talk and talk. my favourite season is spring when everything comes to life:) also i loove everything people are used to hate about themselves, like stretch-marks, scars and that sort of stuff. idk it just reminds me we are all human and are beautiful just as we are ><
that’s all i can think of, hopefully it wasn’t too much!! thanks in advance i’m really curious who you’re going to pair me with:)
hi!
thank you for participating :)
i ship you with zoya!
zoya is the epitome of rivals to lovers. she’s so snarky, but i think she’d really like someone who could match her level of snark. banter is her way of flirting. i think zoya really understands coming across as cold and not really letting anyone get to know her. she uses that tactic herself, so it wouldn’t be an issue for her at all to get you talking to her. she’d make it a goal to get you to tell her a little bit about yourself every day, and consider it an accomplishment when you started opening up to her. she’d find your nerdy interests and hyperfixations really endearing, and she’d really enjoy listening to you ramble about the things you like. i feel like she’s secretly a little nerdy too, and would be able to talk to you about some of your interests. zoya is a very stubborn person, so it would be interesting to see how you two butt heads a little. she’s also a realist, and a borderline pessimist, so your hopefulness and optimism would be a new thing for her. but you’d reassure her and make her feel better about things, which she needs.
i wouldn’t consider zoya a very cuddly person, or someone who talks about their mental health. but she’d know she could talk to you about anything, and you wouldn’t judge her. it would take some getting used to, but she’d begin looking at you as a safe space. while zoya has to deal with a lot of people in a day, i think she’d enjoy staying in and not seeing anyone else for a change. she’d be more than happy to spend the evening with you, doing whatever you wanted to pass the time.
i’m not sure if zoya has ever really attempted art, but i think she’d be really good at it. she’s one of those people that’s just perfect the first try at everything she does, so she’d definitely be good at it. but she’s be more content to watch you from the sidelines and let you work, praising whatever outcome you came up with.
i think zoya really misses her inner child. she had to grow up so young, and never really had a chance to be a kid herself. you’d be a source for her to start exploring her inner child, and you’d remind her of all the good things she can remember about being a child. and you’d make new memories together, ones that can replace any bad ones.
i think zoya likes spring too. winter is too cold, and windy. she sees enough wind as a squallor, and would rather have any wind bothering being one she creates. i think the fresh flowers remind her of home with her aunt, and she likes the warm sun on her face. she’d love being outside with you during the spring, doing whatever you wanted to pass the time. it would be really peaceful for her.
zoya favorite thing about you would be how you see the beauty in everything. zoya is a stunning person, but i think she’s insecure about the scars she has from getting her amplifier. they’re running down her back, and she hates them. despite the power they gave her, it takes away from her beauty, at least in her eyes. she knows it’s superficial, but she can’t help but feel insecure about it. you’d be there to tell her that she’s beautiful, and that they’re part of what makes her her.
(i’m not sure if you’ve read the books or just seen the show, but i’m gonna very vaguely and briefly mention the king of scars duology. i hope that’s alright.)
as spring ended and summer approached, the keftas would be a little too warm for her. on rare occasions outside, she’d take it off. alone in her room, she’d be in little more than an undershirt. you’d sit behind her, running your fingers along her spine where the scars are. she’d stiffen, but you’d wrap your arms around her shoulders, squeezing her to you.
“you’re so pretty, you know that?”
she’d turn around with a grin, though you could hear the hesitation in her voice. “i know. as are you, darling. i don’t tell you that enough.”
you’d smile, shaking your head. “you’re changing the subject, but i’ll allow it because that was sweet.”
you’d let her change the subject, but keep a comforting hand on her shoulder. she’d lean into your touch, making small talk.
“nikolai started a new project today. i could see the smoke from all the way across the field,” you’d laugh, making her grin.
“leave it to our king to set something on fire on one of the hottest days of the year.”
you’d chuckle, resting your chin on her shoulder. “should we help him? i have a feeling all genya is doing is barking orders and standing around looking pretty. i bet david is enjoying it.”
zoya would shake her head, turning around to hug you. “later, darling. i want to sit with you a while. alright?”
you’d nod, holding her tight. “alright, love.”
sorry for the wait! thanks again for participating :)

Found this song on YouTube and thought I'd share with the class:
youtube
It's a cover of the jazz standard "After You've Gone", originally released in 1918. There have been many covers over the years, from Louis Armstrong to Nina Simone. This cover has a similar theme of reminiscing and longing as other songs from the London Town sessions like Name and Address and I Keep Believing.
What stood out to me in this cover is at 1:37, right before the breakdown, Paul seems to refer to himself as "Blue": "Blue is the bestest friend that you've ever had."
I know there are theories about JP referring to Paul as Blue and the whole blue moon thing so this really shocked me when I first heard it!
But besides whatever THAT means, this is a beautifully sad example of Paul's unrelenting desperation for John. I don't think it's such a leap to assume the man who wrote "Dear Friend" (1971) and "Best Friend" (1972) about John also made this cover where he repeats the refrain "You're gonna miss the best friend you ever had" about him.
And it seems that Paul was right! John did miss him, as we can see from John's 70s demos such as "Howling at the Moon", "Now and Then", and early versions of "Real Love/Real Life"!
Another thing that makes this cover stand out is Paul's optimism through the heartbreak of the song. Where most other covers (Peggy Lee, Tony Bennet, Ella Fitzgerald) end the song with deciding to leave the subject and move on, Paul sticks to the idea of 'someday'; a hope for the future and that eventually the subject and him can reconcile. This is a theme that comes up a lot in his 70s work, especially the late 70s:
- Little Lamb Dragonfly (1970): "You and I still have a way to go"
- Getting Closer (1978): "I'm getting closer to your heart."
- Love Awake (1978): "Love awake to the day, When we can make our love awake."
- Coming Up (1979): "Stick around we're nearly there."
- Summer Day's Song (1979): "Tomorrow it will be over, for the world is waking to a summer's day."
- One of These Days (1979): "One of these days When we both are at our ease, When you've got time to please yourself, See what's right and see what's there, And breathe fresh air, ever after."
Anyways Paul never gave up on him and John. Whether it's Paul, Macca, Blue, Billy Shears, whoever, at the end of the day one thing is true: he loved John, always has and always will.

Klappentext
