Is it intentional that most of the morphic fusions are humanoids? What was the thought process behind 'em?

It was very off the top of my head (I wrote up a quick list in the Discord chat while getting out of work/waiting for a bus), but I did go with mostly bipedal Pokémon as the bases - not necessarily humanoid as such, but standing on two legs.

Otherwise they were picked mostly through thinking about different Pokémon until something just clicked or 'felt right'. For Katherine I wanted a Pokémon whose hands are important, because one of her big struggles is not having proper hands - so Hitmonchan seemed appropriate and it felt right when I pictured it. Alakazam for Mia came from her intelligence and rationalistic thinking, of course, and it's generally a very easy Pokémon to fuse with Scyther. Jack took me a bit but in the end Furret popped into my head and I liked it; friendly and cuddly but also a predator, and the partially brown fur including on his head meant he could have the same color scheme. Gabriel was one I definitely wanted to be something bipedal and not great at fighting, that can nonetheless evolve into something strong (he may evolve into Slugcario in the hypothetical PMD chapter 13; it feels very appropriate that Riolu can only evolve by happiness).

I'll include more notes on why I picked each Pokémon when I post the rest, since you're interested! I also thought about drawing the pre-evolutions of the ones that have them, e.g. Abra!Mia and Kadabra!Mia, Sentret!Jack. (In the PMD hypothetical their base Pokémon would probably evolve normally while their morph species evolving causes something weird and messed up like Ninetales Jean.)

Unstoppable: My “Rival” Prompt!

Lila was almost ready to take on the Pokemon League; there was just one more thing to handle, and she’d be set.

Scratch that... 

Nathanael was no longer a thing.

As Lila advanced through the final legs of her journey, she took time to recount her past. It wasn’t a conceited action don’t misunderstand - it wasn’t her bragging to herself, and those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it, right?

Her starter, an Alolan Ninetales named Trixx, had been her first Pokemon. Blessed with the ability from his Kantonian ancestors to telepathically connect with his trainer, Trixx had become strong from the adventures with Lila, and the experience had allowed him to give even Gym Leader Ramos quite the run for his money.

Her official starter Pokemon, however, was a Delphox named Mago. Despite the name of her Fire/Psychic Pokemon, the magician ‘mon hated that particular kind of berry (other than Mago berries, oddly enough, any other kind of fruit would do). Mago had saved her life when the now-defeated Team Akuma attempted to “exterminate the fox;” she’d been traveling up Noslach Mountain with her friend Sabrina when they’d set up a roadblock right in front of her. Expecting a battle between the grunt and a clearly brainwashed Admin nicknamed Gorilla, Lila had pulled out her Pokeballs. Unfortunately, by the time she realized she was being pushed off the mountain by the admin’s Slaking. Mago (then a Braixen) immediately broke out of his pokeball, evolved into Delphox, used his newly-learned Psychic ability to save her bacon, then used his wand to keep himself from making a Delphox-sized splat upon the beginning of the trek. While he made his way back up, Trixx and the rest of Lila’s team destroyed Gorilla’s Slaking and Heracross (not to mention his ally’s Weezing), prompting the two to get the heck outta dodge.

Theo, her Zoroark, was another beloved member of the team. While she’d been in a phase during her school years in which she told crazy lies to make herself popular, she had met a newly evolved Theo getting beaten up by some Mightyena for doing the same general business (or so Trixx had told her). Inspired by the felonious fox, she scared off his attackers and caught him, using him as an inspiration to get her behavior together. Nowadays, Theo was a beloved member of the team (but not necessarily trusted - the Cruel Pokemon was the second worst jokester she’d ever met, first place going to her friend Adrien's Liepard Plagg).

There were other members of the team, of course, but Lila’s recollection was interrupted by a familiar voice crying out “Please, Lila, wait for me!”

Looking over her shoulder, she discovered it was her friend Nathanaël Kurtzberg. The young man had been abducted from his home a few weeks before Lila began her journey and was hypnotized into becoming an admin for Team Akuma to use as their boss Gabriel (who was also Adrien’s “often-away-for-business” father) saw fit. She’d rescued him in one of Team Akuma’s hideouts, and learned of Gabriel’s plan to resurrect Xerneas so that he could bring his wife back, although it would essentially kill all but those in Team Akuma. His grunts were “programmed” to serve him until they proved no longer useful, in which case they would be told to kill themselves (and the brainwashing made sure the blood wasn’t physically on Gabriel’s now-cuffed hands).

Nathanaël thanked Lila again for saving him, and to Lila’s immense happiness, he also admitted his crush on her (the feelings were reciprocated, but Lila hadn’t been thinking about it for a while - being in mortal peril can do that to anyone). The two decided to have one last battle before Lila entered the Pokemon League. Right before they threw out their first Pokemon, Nathanaël asked her “If I win, will you be my girlfriend?”

“Fine, but if I win, you’re gonna be my boyfriend. Deal?” Lila jokingly countered.

“Deal.” Nathanaël laughed.

The cave was quiet for a few seconds.

It seemed like one second, Lila and Nathanael were staring each other down; the next, however, Nathanaël’s Toucannon (Volaille) and Lila’s Jellicent (Calunnia) were released from their Pokeballs, duking it out with an immediate clash between Calunnia’s Hydro Pump and Volaille’s Bullet Seed. While Volaille won that little contest, Volaille took a second to recover from the Bullet Seed barrage, letting Calunnia recover and blast the bird with Psychic, knocking it out.

Next came Mago against Nathanaël’s Blastoise Wayzz. It was supposed to be Nath’s starter, but he was kidnapped before that could truly begin.

“What are you going to do, Lila?”

Whether Nathanaël was hypnotized or not, he’d always been a taunter. It was good-naturedly, thankfully, as Admin Nathan had been much worse. Nathanaël was to Admin Nathan as Luigi was to Mr. L: good and evil, quiet and timid, kind but free and cruel but subservient.

Lila just smirked. What she said next dropped Nathanaël’s own smirk quickly.

“Grass Knot, Mago.”

One fallen turtle later, Nath sent out his Sunflora Pomidor to take out Calunnia, who Lila had made the poor decisions of not only choosing to keep the Floating Pokemon in, but also choosing to attempt a Psychic attack by outspending the robust rafflesia. It didn’t work out for Calunnia, for the record - Petal Dance is a strong and supereffective move, after all.

Lila and Nathanaël clashed with KO after KO to each other after that. Pomidor fell to Mago’s Flamethrower, and the fox Pokemon was promptly knocked out after by an Earthquake from Chamelle the Camerupt. Another Earthquake sent Chamelle to lala-land with a thud, courtesy of Doccione the Gliscor.

Eventually, it came down to good ol’ Trixx versus a Revived Wayzz. The clever fox versus the wise turtle - this would make for a quite the interesting match, but it wasn’t entirely fair - Wayzz was at half of his HP.

The silent showdown began once more, each Trainer planning what could be the decisive move. At last, the last turn started.

“Trixx, Dazzling Gleam!” shouted Lila, the confidence that had enamored Nathanaël shining from her like light off a disco ball. If the young red-haired man hadn’t been focused on battle, he might have swooned. Nathanaël decided it was time to break out a secret weapon he’d prepared Wayzz with.

“Wayzz, Flash Cannon!” Nathanaël countered, the quiet smirk becoming a little less quiet.

Lila paled - she knew Trixx couldn’t take that; 4 times the normal damage was very intimidating, and Ninetales weren’t meant to tank attacks. Nevertheless, she steeled herself (pun not intended) for her inevitable defeat.

Then Trixx did the improbable; he jumped over the ball of energy, shooting off the light-based attack that was Dazzling Cannon midair and essentially sniping Wayzz with a flourish. As the Fox Pokemon landed on the ground, so did the Blastoise (albeit less gracefully; being knocked unconscious tends to make that happen).

Lila had known Trixx for almost her entire life, yet the Ninetales continued to astound her.

Sure, she wasn’t Champion Ladybug, but she was feeling rather lucky at the moment. While when she was with her team she felt like she could take on the League (well, after a bit of training), she felt like she could take on the world and then some with Nathanaël at her side as well.

I finally compiled the list of Pokémon that nychthemeron ! Yuu (Rei) had captured and will be introduced in the story.

This is compiled from my many game runs so they are a 100% fixed roster.

She only revives a handful and gave any others she found to Aether Foundation since she isn’t fully invested with fossil revival. She only revived two fossil mons at most (Her Tyrunt and Amaura).

5: Machop is a shiny I caught in my Alpha Sapphire fanfic run (Funny story, I was trying to see if I can find a Shiny Swablu but couldn’t find one so I skipped ahead to continue the story to try Shiny hunting a Swablu on a later date and found him instead). He’s un-nicknamed at the moment.

And here they are! The commanders of Team Xenon!

Left Image: Meet Barren, a Commander of Team Xenon. He is the brawns when it comes to stealing Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution. He’s brash, serious, and has a very short temper. He is very assertive and whatever he says goes. When battling him, he will use his Pyroar, Escavalier, Lycanroc (midnight form), and his ace, Mega Gyarados.

Middle Image: This is Gabriel, a Commander of Team Xenon, and the youngest. He is the brains behind every operation and mission assigned to him. He is very intelligent, clever, and strategic. Many see him as a push-over due to his lack of body strength, but he doesn’t need physical strength when it comes to battling. When battling him, he will always use his Liepard, Crobat, Roserade, and his ace, Mega Alakazam.

Right Image: Meet Amber, a Commander of Team Xenon. She often leads the missions and operations when given. Like her leader, she is charming, manipulative, and ambitious. She has a mean side that only Calista, Gabriel, and Barren have seen, but other than that, she is very calm and collected, especially during a battle. When battling her, she will use her Ninetales, Zoroark, Tsareena, and her ace, Mega Houndoom.

These were a lot of fun to make! Again, when I get around to my Pokémon fanfiction, I will either leave a link to it in my Eragona post, or do a separate post completely.

Pokémon AU for COTRK

I’m probably missing a few people but this is a good overview. And it was a lot of fun to do!

Claerwen is absolutely a Shiny Dustox (a white one). But she is Charlie Bone’s 2nd Pokémon. The first one is probably a Chikorita, as Charlie does try to be a calm protector.

Emma Tolly has a Swablu, a Tailow, and a Farfetch’d. Her aunt Julia has a Sylveon and a Grotle.

Olivia Vertigo has a Buneary & a Zorua.

Rembrandt has to be a Rattata. Once Billy is 10, he’ll be his.

Runner Bean is a Growlithe. He & Benjamin are super close.

The Gunn family has a deaf Persian. Fidelio has a Jigglypuff and an Illumise.

Gabriel Silk has a Ralts, a Togepi, and a Riolu. These choices are half because they suit his personality & powers, and half because I’m giving him some of my favorite Pokémon.

Tancred Torsson has a Castform, and I want to give him a baby Lugia. Especially if this AU means that the humans don’t have powers. In that case, his father has a grown Lugia, a Flygon, and a Gyarados.

Lysander Sage has a Chatot (so does Lauren) and he also has a Cubone, a Stufful, and an Ivysaur.

Asa Pike has a Mightyena & a Houndour.

Manfred Bloor has a Hypno, a Beheeyem, a Grumpig, & (later on) a Quilava.

Joshua Tilpin has an Abra and a Magnemite. I’m less sure which Pokémon the Branko twins & Dorcas would have.

Titania Tilpin has a Zoroark, a Mismagius, and a Gothorita.

Alice Angel has a Tsareena, a Ninetales, an Espeon, and a Gardevoir.

Blessed is an elderly Granbull. I did consider a Stoutland but Blessed isn’t meant to be fluffy. Ezekiel Bloor likely also has a Mismagius. Harold Bloor might have a Pokémon but more likely he leaves that to his relatives.

Bartholomew Bloor has a Jangmo-o, a Pidgeot, and an Absol. His adoptive daughter Naren has a Murkrow & a Sunflora.

Solomon is definitely a Dragonair. I’m still waffling on the Flames. Either they’re 3 Littens that can briefly insta-evolve into Incinearoars, or they’re a Vaporean, a Jolteon, & a Flareon that can shift into Suicune, Raikou, & Entei. The first option keeps the fiery theme but the second stresses their Legendary status. There are also rumors/legends of the Red King also having a Camerupt.

Queen Berenice is likely reincarnated into a Rapidash.

Lyell has a Flyon, a Wigglytuff, & a Salamance, all of which vanished when he did. They return to aid him against the Bloors.

Due to his seaside upbringing, Dagbert Endless already has 5 Pokémon. He has a Feebas, a Magikarp, a Froakie, a Mudkip, and a Tirtouga. It’d be during the near-drowning that Magikarp would evolve, and after Dagbert opts to join Charlie’s side that Feebas would.

Lord Grimwald has a Walrein, a Feraligatr, a Beartic, a Gyarados, a Sharpedo, and a Starmie.

Cook keeps her Shiny Clamperl secret, but she’s open about having a Kangaskhan and a Grovyle. Her sister also has a Shiny Clamperl along with an Empoleon and a Vaporeon.

Katya Kettle would have an Aggron and a Charizard. Later she adopts Solomon, of course.

Paton Yewbeam has a Luxray, a Decidueye, an Amaura, a Wartortle, and a Raichu.

I’m not sure what Pokémon Paton’s 4 sisters have. Venetia likely has a Liepard (Eric Shellhorn has a Geodude). Eustacia has an Exeggcute. Grizelda & Lucretia probably don’t bother with having Pokémon.

Amy Bone has a Leafeon. Maisie has a Delcatty.

Count Harken has a Lunatone, a Haunter, an Arbok, an Aerodactyl, and an Alakazam.

Reunited during the Worst Case Scenario

This wasn't a good scenario. In fact, it was probably the worst case scenario Koga could think of. First he had transformed into a strange hybrid of human and Nidoking, and now his children weren't anywhere to be seen.

"Arceus, where are you too?", the gym leader growled as he explored high and low across the Fuschia Gym. It was difficult to navigate, given he had grown considerably and there were invisible barriers dotted across the space.

"Dad", two voices shouted from the entrance.

The Nidoking snapped his head to the door and he felt a wave of relief crash into him. Even if they didn't look human anymore, his children were safe!

"I'm so glad you're safe, Janine!" Koga roared as he bear hugged the human-turned-anthropomorphic-arbok.

"I am too!" the serpentine teen said, her eyes welling with tears.

"Mom's safe," the other child, a young adult with the form of a ninetales, revealed ,"she's a nidoqueen, though".

"Well, Gabriel, I appreciate you for informing me!" Koga said.

"What happened?" Janine asked.

"No idea" Gabriel replied.

"I'll call Oak to inquire about some theories," the dad said ,"meanwhile, you two stay by my side"

Ninetales Gabriel goes to visit Agatha (now a mismagius) to ask her about what THE FUCK happened. Though a mystic [either a specialist in ghost, dark, psychic, or fairy, or a person who has mystical powers, Agatha being the latter and the former], Agatha too is confused. She doesn't know any magic that could cause this to happen.

Gabriel is also a mystic. Though this is regarding medicines and potions, not magic. He doesn't know a medicine yet that could fix this.
