So basically this is the premise for my Salamandrian Encounter AU (still thinking of a better title tbh 🤔) or at least the beginnings of it — somewhere between a few months to a year following the aftermath of the ROTTMNT movie, a strange meteor flies across the NYC skyline before crashing in the middle of Central Park. Witnessing the sight while doing their usual nightly patrol, the "Mad Dogs" go to investigate. At the crashsite, they find a strange frog-shaped alien spacecraft (I gotta doodle it some more, but drawing mechanical is hard orz. A mini doodle of it can be found here) and its pilot, knocked unconscious.

Before the boys can do much of anything, besides freak out about a another possible alien invasion, men in black suits and armoured vans arrive—i.e. the EPF/Earth Protection Force—with Agent Bishop at the helm, and the two parties have a stand off. Finding it hard to not only keep the government agents at bay, but also to keep them from seizing the unconscious alien, the Mad Dogs make a hasty retreat, leaving the spacecraft to be collected and contained by the EPF.

Taking the pilot back to the lair, the boys patch her up, remove the two strange half-spherical objects from her temples—of which Donnie's interest is immediately piqued. I mean, c'mon, mysterious alien tech?! Boy's brain would be ABUZZ with all the possibilities!—and leave her in the medbay to recover while they debrief the crazy events of the night. Unbeknown to them, not long after they begin to discuss the EPF, with supporting security camera footage and drone shots taken thanks to Donnie—who is multitasking: fiddling with the strange alien tech in his hands mid-discusssion/info-dumping about the information he's found about the EPF—the pilot stirs in the medbay.

POV switch to Y'Gythgba—a young, intelligent, earnest but socially naive Salamandrian warrior/engineer on a mission, awakes not only to a pounding headache and a couple of cracker ribs—made worse by the bright flourescent lights and her lack of psionic amplifiers/holovisor, which have mysteriously gone missing—but also to an unfamiliar environment, with no sign of her AMPHIBAMECH (if anyone can come up with a better name, please pass along your suggestions lol). Immediately on alert, Y'Gythgba goes into full on Solid Snake stealth and begins to sneak about the lair, not sure of what to make of her strange 'alien' surroundings.

Silently, she stalks from tunnel to tunnel, passing a sleeping rat-man in a lazy boy recliner as a projector plays an archaic holovid of a strange humanoid in a jumpsuit and large optic lenses, fighting several adversaries. Y'Gythgba pauses to observe the old rat, trying to assess if he is an immediate threat or harmless, until raised voices—faintly familar yet unintelligible to her ears—grab her attention. Summoning/'pulling' her NovaBlaster from its pocket dimension with a wave of her hand and a trail of pink alien code and light ribbons (think Tron Legacy 😉), Y'Gythgba confronts her 'captors' from the doorway, catching them by surprise as she demands to know where her ship/AMPHIBAMECH is.

Obviously, neither the Mad Dogs or Y'Gythgba can understand one another, so as the boys take a step towards her, Y'Gythgba raises her blaster and fires a warning shot on its lowest setting... just inches above poor Raph's head 🥲

And voila! SHENANIGANS ENSUSE. That's all that I really have set in stone ATM, but I'll probably add more in the future if I do more doodles (...maybe)

Casey Jones RV Park AU

I wasn’t able to get a picture but while on the road in Florida I saw a sign that literally said “Casey Jones RV Park”. As a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise I find this hilarious. I’m not trying to make fun of this real life person or people that own RV parks it’s just in the context of Tmnt it’s kinda funny.

Like if we’re talking 80s and 2012 “how’d being a vigilante in New York work out for you bro? Doesn’t seem like a lucrative long term profession now does it.”

If its 2003 and 2007 Casey then, “How’s your marriage/relationship with April going? I’d assume she’d make you get a real job, is this all you could scare up?”

For Cassandra, “Love you for quitting the Foot but is this all you got? I thought you wanted world domination. Is this another plot for that or?”

However for Casey Jr. this takes place in the alternate ending where he goes of on his own. In which, “How you doing buddy? Since you’re from the future/an alternate timeline you probably didn’t have the proper documentation to get a ‘real’ job but congrats on finding your own way. Speaking of which do you need help of any kind? Cause I will always be here for you. On another note, how’d ya get all the way to Florida? Oh! This is just going to be me ranting about something that particularly annoys me, so don't take it too seriously, but it drives me up a metaphorical wall.

But, the thing is, I just finished reading some new parts of a Rise fic I really liked, it was funny, and a good story sure, until I saw the word 'twin' be thrown around about five times in one chapter.

I honestly thought I was exaggerating, so I continued, and the word 'twin' just kept on appearing. So I just decided to count how many times it comes up just to see if I was being crazy, y'know?

In the course of a couple of chapters, the word, 'twin' is thrown around 64 different times. Not accounting for any notes, tags, or the latest chapter they posted since it wasn't an official one.

To make this clearer, the word twin, referring to Rise Donnie and Leo specifically, was mentioned 64 different times. One chapter holding 13 mentions of them being twins alone.

Now, I don't know why in the world it needed to be mentioned 64 different times, but hey, it's none of my business. And I really wouldn't be bothered if being twins wasn't their one specific trait, especially around each other.

And it only gets worse in the new chapters. Everytime they mention each other it's like they are incapable of not calling the other their twin, and.. this thing annoys me to my goddamn core.

It doesn't matter, I know that, but it's so annoying to see people make Donnie and Leo being twins their one special thing even though they're not even twins in the dang show. Normally that wouldn't bother me, and it doesn't, but for you to reduce a character to a trait they canonically don't even have is just bizarre.

I'm not gonna mention the writer, and I hate criticizing writers or artists like this in general, but it's so unbelievably mind numbing to see Donnie and Leo get reduced to being twins over and over again as if it actually matters? All it is, is the day they were born. That's it! That's all, yet so many people are obsessed with making it an important factor?

They are so much more than just twins, and have so much more to them than a couple of traits in the show. Yet so many people just, ignore that? Especially in some fics?

Not to mention in the particular story, Raph and Mikey hardly ever appear unless it's for the same couple of jokes, and just leaves me longing for more development on them but nope! Gotta shove some more twin content in there!

I have absolutely no problem with people liking the Disaster Twins, and making stories centered around them, but they are so much more than just twins, and so much more than their relationship with each other. They have other family members too, acknowledge them.

This is not only with this particular author, this has happened multiple times and it's just plain annoying. If you like Leo and Donnie more, just say that. There's no reason you should add their brothers in, and then just discard them to the point they don't even seem like they are siblings anymore. They're just close friends at that point, and it's just angering for me.

I don't see it all that much anymore, but so many people still make Leo and Donnie being 'twins' in Rise this big thing when they aren't even twins, and probably wouldn't mention the fact they are if they weren't explaining their ages because it literally means nothing in the end. They're just brothers that happened to be born on the same day, that's it.

I'm not a twin myself, so I obviously can't speak for actual twins, but even the twins I've known personally hardly mentioned the fact they were twins other than to make a couple of jokes here and then. In no world should them being twins be so important to you that it's mentioned 64 different times. That's just insane.

It is different than simply having a sibling, I get that. Being twins is definitely different in a way, and comes with different experiences, but it should never be that important to the point they mention it 13 TIMES IN ONE CHAPTER.

Skipping past the slightly serious part, 64 different times?? Would they, like, forget if they didn't say it? Fr 13 times in one conversation? I don't think I've even done that with my proclaimed Twin before, because that's, that's just crazy.

Lloyd Goldfine: If we do decide to make the turtles different sizes and shapes, what are your feelings on who's tall, who's short, who's wide, etc. Personally, I'm not so sure we should do it at all, but we are going to (quickly) look at it.  For what it's worth, I had Leo as the tallest of the group, then Raph and Don at the same height with Raph being considerably more muscular, and Mike is the shortest. Peter Laird: I don't feel that radical size differences are really appropriate, but if we made some minor ones, they would be along the lines you mention. I like the subtle differences that Will Meugniot did for the WB project.

My favorite thing about being a fan of larger franchises is sometimes I will latch onto an obscure (or atleast relatively minor) piece of the universe that's not really used in anything based only off an article on a fan wiki and some vibes.

It let out shaky breaths as it looked up at Ninja with wide eyes, lacking that false, empty expression it had before. "N... nin.. jaa..?" It called out... before becoming completely unresponsive. ⚔️)Ninja stepped back, an expression of utter fear and terror on his face. That was Rebel's voice, a much more genuine voice than the monster that had been standing before him spoke in. But, whether that was rebel or not, they were dead now, and his sword had dealt the fatal blow. But he didn't have the time to sob or grieve, no matter how badly the tears in his eyes begged to escape. He just ran off to whatever direction he thought he remembered Crocoplier bolting away to. Little Ghost, who Ninja had almost forgotten was there, hesitated. Looking at the body. Before floating off to catch up with their owner.

Target Ticket is dead. Well, it's about to be. The video-on-demand service from one of America's leading retailers is shutting down after less than two years and a dismal response from consumers. Ticket offered both rentals and purchases of UltraViolet-compatible movies and TV shows, but never managed to gain any real momentum in an already-competitive market that includes iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and Walmart's Vudu. The service will be turned off for good on March 7th. On that date, the apps across smartphones, tablets, game consoles, and set-top boxes will stop functioning. Target Ticket is cutting off the ability to rent content as of today. In a notice posted directly below marketing jargon that describes Target Ticket as "the digital entertainment service that's so easy to love," the retailer explains that it "made the decision to end the services offered on Target Ticket and will be focusing efforts on other entertainment offerings." Put another way, Target realized it's probably better off sticking to sales of DVDs, Blu-rays, and physical CDs. It's going back to what it knows best. Source: The Verge
