SERIOUS S/O BURSTS OUT LAUGHING | Samezuka

Rin:

I'm fully covinced that embarrassing Rin's hilarious, and so easy that this all takes place relatively early in the relationship.

So before that I imagine Rin just casually knew you because you tagged along with the Iwatobis to the competitions and training with Gou.

And you reminded him of Haru, serious and stoic, but more talkative. Constantly making him laugh when he heard you teasing someone else over something stupid they did.

You both could talk about deep stuff and have conversations in different languages.

Slowly he started falling in love and miraculously enough he manged to ask you out without passing out of embarrassment.

But you still had him wrapped around your finger.

And at some point things will get hectic because life of a professional athelete do be like that. Probably training got delayed and he was late for a date with you so he went for a rose to give you as an apology.

But he was running through the park where he was supposed to meet you and while waited for you to appear a cat snatches the rose and he starts tugging it to get it back.

Needless to say the poor flower is torn apart when you do show up.

He hides the little botanic vitcim behind him red in the faces and can't form a coherent sentence he's so flustered.

And he hears it.

You start laughing and he looses it.

He will hide his face in his hoodie cap tugging it to cover more of his face. Which only makes you laugh more.

It's a vicious cycle of embarrassment and giggles.

But truthfully, he wouldn't change it for the world.

Sousuke:

Sousuke is a serious guy for the most part.

So he is not particularly pushy about making you laugh.

Most of your relationships is pretty chill and not over the top as it'd be one with let's say Nagisa, Kisumi or Asahi.

Sousuke jokes around and is charismatic but he's pretty calm.

You often hang out with Sousuke in his rehab training and help him do some of his excercises.

You love talking to each other and are very much happy around each other.

But it isn't until one day Momo convinced Nitori to do a little Tokyo escaped with the Iwatobi guys since Rin was going to be in town... meaning the whole Swimming nerds crew would be reunited.

It was a rare opportunity you couldn't pass, so you skipped classes to reschedule his training earlier.

Everyone is reunited and they're having a great time.

They started teasing him and mocking him.

Among those things they went over funny stupid things he'd do as a child.

He's embarrassed and considering to leave when he hears you laughing at a story Rin told him.

It's such a pretty laugh and heartfelt.

He melts and decided leaving is not so bad being a little bit embarrassed if he can hear you laughing like that.

Clearly, he had to balance things out telling stuff about you.

And definitely he will make sure to tell you more fun stuff about his childhood if it means to make you laugh more.

Nitori:

He's not funny, he's not the kind of guy that makes other laugh.

But he's adorably ease to tease.

Which is why he hadn't invited you to visit you during his trainings or whenever Momo was around.

But today you showed up unannounced trying to surprise him.

He goes pale that you almost feel bad.

But he just knows what will happen.

All the guys are over you, specially when they know your their smol bean of a captain's sweetheart.

Trying to mess with him and you for being together.

Nitori is so flustered is adorable that he lets out the loudest screech to send them to work.

But you start giggling at him and everyone else finds it hilarious.

He's too flustered about it and just whines about it.

Don't get him wrong, he loves you, but he's so flustered!

Momo:

Momo is hyperactive and cute. But he's more annoying than funny.

You particularly didn't seem to find him as either.

In one hand, you didn't get mad at him

On the other he never saw you laugh.

He was dead set on it, he is a cinnamon roll and always asks you about it

He is such a hyper bean.

One day you tag along with him to a joint meeting with the Iwatobi guys and you chat with Gou and Ayumu.

They start going about how obssessed he was with Gou and all the times she'd say his name wrong.

Momo experiences stress for the first time thinking you'd get mad.

He's an opening mouth away from going on a ramble about how that's the past and he only has eyes for you and only you.

But he's surprised to see you burst out laughing about how ridiculous he was and the whole name mix-up.

He feels like the luckiest guy in the world, not only for his sweetheart being so sweet and understanding, but also that laugh??? Is. So Precious?!??!?!

Seijuro:

He's always so determined and stubborn.

So making you laugh is his goal. But he doesn't play dirty.

He wants to be intentionally be funny enough to make you laugh.

He's a sweetheart but just like his brother: hyperactive, not funny.

So he tries to be amusing another way.

One time he asks you to meet you by the pool and you arrive a bit early so he's still at the pool.

And look, my man is a devoted swimmer but not as devoted as he is to his darling (and he's very devoted to swimming).

He's just so excited to see you he rushes out of the pool and he runs to greet you and carry you in his arms still dripping wet.

Your response is the cutest nervous stream of giggles.

He gets even more excited that he makes you spin around and fill you with smooches until the coach scolds him and send him back to the pool.

Sometimes it’s hard to take him seriously when he’s like this, he’d be more over the teasing side, but he’d poke around you not wanting to be with him anymore and wanting to be with that barista guy in the coffee shop you visit frequently.

Sometimes, you’d play along, until you can literally see him tear up.

Then, you’d decide that it’s enough and you’d pull him in for a hug.

He’s dumb, he can’t see how beautiful he is, can he?

You’ll make sure he knows he’s your one and only. Then, he’ll tease you back with how much you love him.

Nitori

He is a sweetheart, he’d be so heartbroken when he sees you talking to your tall classmate.

He’d start wondering if you’d like him better if he was taller or stronger, or if his eyes were darker. He’d change his haircut if that meant youd like him better.

Nitori’s eyes would look glossy when you come closer to him after noticing him by the door.

You’d hug him and kiss his cheek, he’d shyly ask if you dont mind him not being that tall.

You laugh it of softly, “No, Ai, you’re perfect like this”, wrapping your arms around him.

You’d feel him relax in your arms and blink back a few tears.

Momo

He might feel his world is falling apart.

Momo would very likely make a scene and sob when he thinks you like someone other than him a lot more.

He’d talk to you about it though.

You’d explain that it’s nothing like that and that this person was just borrowing something from you.

He’d wait until you give him a forehead kiss to stop his sobbing.

Then, Momo would take you to get some ice cream.

Sousuke

He’s a bit harsh and erratic when he’s not thinking straight.

Sousuke wouldn’t want to hurt you in anyway, but if you try to talk about it at the wrong place and time, it could turn into a fight (depending on how you both handle it of course). He can be very explosive.

He would never attack you in anyway, but he’d want to pull himself out of any interaction with anyone for a bit to cool off.

If you leave him alone to think, from the begining, he’ll calm down and come back in a few minutes. He’ll hug you and tell you how much he loves you.

But on the few days where he’s a bit more difficult to handle, if you try to push him into telling him what’s wrong he might snap. He’d be dumb and say something that he doesn’t mean.

He’d then come back and try to explain what was happening through his mind.

He is 100% not good with “negative” feelings, but he will fight back really hard to show he’s very sorry.

Seijuro

Honestly, Seijuro is pretty cool about it. Like, yeah, sure, he does get jealous, because it kinda happens to a lot of us. But he’s mature enough to not make a scene about it (probably not like Momo, for example).

He’d try to not address his feeling though, at first, because he doesn’t want to make a big deal about it, until you feel he’s a bit more quiet.

Seijuro will then explain to you how he feels, he’ll be very clear in the fact that there’s nothing wrong with you and that he should just probably reflect on his feelings for a bit.

You could try to validate his feeling or just let him deal with it by himself, but if you try to talk it out with him, he’ll feel a lot better with the situation and himself.

*I may have sent this already but I edited it to correct mistakes in terminology, year differences and the variation in length of residency. Please disregard the other ask similar to this.*

So I have this hospital!/med school!/doctor!/medical staff! AU where the characters are working on the same hospital and work on different departments. They are all still resident doctors, except for nitori and natsuya, who are not doctors of medicine, meaning they did not finish in a med school or have an MD. Also rei, as he is a pharmacist; he however may have a PharmD, which technically also makes him a doctor, due to his doctorate degree. The adults are attending doctors. The boys are all residents, unless stated otherwise.

Haru is the nephrologist because he is too keen on his patients' water intake because...you know. He always thinks weird water drinking habits are always an indicator of a disease.

"You drink too much for your body type. Are you sure you don't have hyponatremia?"

Makoto is the psychiatrist since he believes his service should be for the people who need it the most. His calm, gentle nature makes his patients like him, not to mention open up to him and help them solve their issues. It makes him happy to see his patients get over their issues and that he has helped them. Rin fears him for his ability to handle such patients.

"So, isn't that tachibana from psych scary? I mean, he handles the mentally unstable. Imagine what he can do to make normal people obey him."

"Uh-oh...don't let him hear you say that?"

"What? Mentally unstable?"

Then makoto comes in with the 🙂 smile. He always teases to admit rin to his office to treat him of his mood swings and anger management issues.

Rei is the overstressed pharmacist who has tons of orders to review and prescriptions to distribute and nagisa, the hyperactive ob/gyn, who has no sence of confidentiality, just increases his headache.

"Hazuki-sensei these are your patients you are talking about!"

"Yes, so? Anyway, about the weird lumps in her vagina-"

"Please seek tachibana-sensei you need help"

He does his best to organize the supplies when they get delivered. It gets on his nerves when the other pharmacists do not restock when they're supposed to.

Gou is either cardio/pulmonologist and she always asks all of her male patients to raise their shirt for a checkup. She gets too excited when she uses the stethoscope and pretends to feel around her patient's chest/back when she's really just feeling the muscles around. She gets along with isuzu, another cardio/pulmo and gushes about with her on their muscled male patients.

Rin is an ophthalmologist who always brags about his flexible schedule and easy job, but gets irked because a lot of med students are also interested in ophthalmology and he thinks no one can get his place.

"I am the best ophthalmologist in this hospital!"

"How can you be the best if you're the only ophthalmologist here?"

"Just shut up nanase!!!"

Sousuke is the orthopedic surgeon who always gets impatient waiting for the x-ray scans he ordered, so he goes down to the radio tech to fetch the scans but always ends up getting lost on his way or back.

He always mixes up the radiologist and radio tech's offices.

Momo is the pediatrician who tries to hit on his patients' mothers. Somehow all of them are married so far. He hasn't encountered a single mom in his clinic yet. He wanted to be a vet, but he can't even touch a cat without it bristling.

Nitori is the easily frazzled ICU/emergency nurse who always gets nervous when a patient starts to display symptoms or reactions, and always false alarms a code. He will summon any and all departments at every call.

"Hello?! Can somebody send in the general surgeon? The neurosurgeon? An ophthalmologist perhaps? Anybody?"

Seijuro is the loud, enthusiastic physiatrist. But it's okay. He's a good source of motivation for patients who undergo physical therapy and are starting to progress, especially those who suffered paralysis. Though he can be too much at times. He is already an attending, as he has finished residency last year.

Kisumi is the dermatologist who hangs around makoto's office after his sessions and it annoys haru very much.

"Shigino, why are you in makoto's office all the time? Don't you have work to do?"

"Well, nanase-sensei, unfortunately tachibana-sensei gets sad and bored being in his office all alone for hours. But you have consultations to attend to and I don't have an appointment until 3 pm so I guess I'll be his companion for the meantime. So see you later!"

He walks away strutting his ass to the psych dept and leaves a glaring haru behind.

Asahi is the anaesthetist who is losing his patience with hiyori, the general surgeon, who drags him to the OR when he has just finished a 4-hour c-section birth in the delivery room.

"WHAT NOW?!?! I JUST GOT MY BREAK!!!"

"It was just 4 hours! What's six more hours of surgery??? 🙃🙃🙃"

Ikuya is the ENT because he swims IM so he has to be someone who does a lot of stuff. He just wants to give up on life because who the fuck puts a walnut up their nose?!!

"I had to remove entire flakes of crackers from inside someone's nasal cavity! Who does that?!?!"

"Apparently as long as there's a hole people will always find stuff to put in them."

"I thought that's the proctologist's problem."

"Well, believe me, the urologist had to complain the same thing."

He also butts heads with rin.

"Ophthalmologists are so pretentious. Like they were only invented to take the load off of us ENTs."

"You're just jealous because I can work only 3 days a week and still receive high pay. It sure feels good to not have clients everyday."

"Apparently ophthalmologists only have one brain cell. They only know how to deal with one organ of the body."

Nao is in palliative care medicine, because his career should be similar to makoto, and makoto looks up to him as his senpai. He tried to convince makoto that the field is good because they help people who are in need of most comfort, but makoto cannot handle such heartbreaking situations, so he helped him settle for psychiatry instead. He initially recommended oncology as a milder alternative, since patients have chances of surviving, but it was still too extreme for makoto. He has finished residency and is now an attending doctor.

Nao always checks up on natsuya, the radio technologist who is always MIA from his office. Natsuya has like, 20 scan requests pending from him, yet he hasn't fulfilled any of them. He always flips the sign "on break" on his door. Nao has found him several times in the cafeteria, and once on his office floor, asleep.

Amakata is an attending proctologist and has long since got over her awkwardness and trauma of seeing her male patients' penises, and is very careful with the students doing rotations because she doesn't want them to be traumatized like she was. Sasabe is an attending family medicine doctor who begs the students to choose his specialization because he has too many patients a day, plus paperwork, and he just needs help.

Perhaps the juniors- ayumu, shizuru, and romio- are still med students, and ayumu is into being a medical dietitian, shizuru is into gastroenterology, given what fancies him are weird, and romio is into plastic surgery. They are senior med students.

Hayato idolizes makoto since he helped him get over and work on his anxiety and trauma (probably an accident that made him fear that particular activity). He vows to be a psychiatrist just like him, much to kisumi's sulking. Makoto supports him, as well as ran and ren should they wish to take up medicine. Ren, however, wishes to be a general physician, and ran went to a law school. Ren meets misaki in med school, and together with hayato, makoto helps them with their studies whenever he can. They were all excited to see makoto during their rotations. Misaki wishes to also go into ortho, and he meets natsume again in their rotations, who is into pathology. By the time they start the rotations, some of the resident doctors should be attending ones already.

Makoto meets mochizuki again in the hospital upon his employment, who he hasn't seen since college, since mochizuki is a med tech and didn't go to med school. Haru goes "i thought i got rid you you" thinking, seeing as another tries to take away makoto's attention. He feels lucky enough that makoto's psychiatry classmate/other unofficial best friend (his univ study buddy in S3) according to that guy, got held back a year, and now the other replaces him. Rin just goes, "tough life, huh?" Haru just laughs at him when he gets summoned to the ICU for the 4th time that day by a panicking nitori, thinking a patient is going on code blue and all the surgeons are occupied. He has to explain while gritting his teeth that he cannot perform a surgery on a patient with an internal bleeding. Haru also teases him whenever sousuke comes around, like "hey yamazaki! Matsuoka says he wants to "see" your " big bone"."

Kinjou is the neurosurgeon who used to be close with hiyori since they were both planning to enter the same specialization, but hiyori backed out last minute and went with general surgery, leaving kinjou to suffer all alone in his neurosurgery residency.

Albert is the endocrinologist who got the highest marks in his class. Since his work overlaps with many other departments, as hormones and glands affect several areas of the body, he has to collaborate with several specialists on several occasions. Haru detests him because they once worked together on a patient with diuretic problems. He thinks he's a lowkey smartass and makes everyone feel dumber than him.

Azuma is the attending oncologist who has seen many deaths in his work he is now immune to emotional breakdowns. Mikhail is the radiologist who pesters him during his rounds and breaks into his wards.

"Wow! It's Azuma-sensei's funny friend!!"

"See, ryuuji? She knows me already!"

"I have no other "friend" who disturbs me during work and is basically a living menace."

He wants to get out of the radio tech lab because it feels like a catacomb. With the MRI machines and low-light levels in the office, it sure does. He hasn't read the pending scans either. He arrives at tech lab and finds Natsuya nowhere to be seen, along with his scans. The IM has left several notices for the CT scan results, and the ortho left a letter saying he's going to read the x-ray scan himself.

It took me awhile to respond to this (oops) but loving the updated version of this AU! Super expansive and it’s so cool to see how much thought and detail you’ve put into their different specialties ☺️ I probably missed this for some of the characters, but how/when did you imagine them meeting, like was it through med school, their residencies/jobs, or earlier? It’s fun imagining all of the different little conflicts they’d have, and it’d be interesting to learn more about how they all start to connect/interact with each other if you ever wanted to play around with more stories in this universe! Sousuke will not look at you the moment you let out the first laugh at any story

We only know his uncle but I’ll try to think of something

He’ll probably give him muscle proteins and regimens to improve his muscles right in from of his partner while he’s just begging for him to stop.

Seijuro will probably find them cute as well (but he’d never try to steal his little brother’s partner)

He comments on Momo’s bug collection and make him show you

He’s super nervous because not everyone likes them

He wants them to get along with Pyunsuke.

He’ll make a bunch of tests for him

But Momo isn’t the type to be embarrassed easily.

He’ll even claim that he’ll do it if his partner promises to watch him win the right to date them

But after a while he’ll start getting a bit flustered because he doesn’t want to scare his partner

He’ll try to ask Momo to stop but Momo will insist that they always do this when they see each other

And finally you see Seijuro blushing

“Honey, don’t worry, I knew what I was getting into when we started dating“

And they can be the judge for their contest seeing Seijuro being a cool big brother.

Funny enough the fact that their partner enjoy seeing him spend time with Momo is more embarrassing than anything Momo could’ve done

Seijuro Mikoshiba always had a keen eye for cute girls, it didn't matter who they were or where they were from, if they were cute then he was ready to point it out.

You were no exception to this, seeing as you'd been best friends with the older Mikoshiba brother since you were both in elementary school, you'd been reminded that you were “cute” over a million times.

Being called cute was nothing you turned your nose up at, it was just that Seijuro had a habit of calling most girls he came across cute, that wasn't a bad thing either, it was just how he is. He's a sweet guy who enjoys giving girls boosts in their confidence.

But that's all it was, you suspected anyway.

You thought the way he spoke to you, complimented you, was just an added bonus of being his best friend.

He treated you differently than other girls but you couldn't differentiate between his general flirtations and his genuine feelings.

Seijuro had been busy with college lately, so had you, but the pair of you insisted on seeing each other as often as possible, so you planned to go out later that evening.

While you were excited to see your best friend/crush for the first time in about two weeks, said best friend/crush was panicking over the phone with his younger brother about what to do.

“Why don't you just ask her to be your girlfriend? It's not like she doesn't like you back.” Momo sighed over the phone, getting fed up with his usually smooth brother's constant worrying.

“It's not as easy as that. She isn't like the other girls, Momo. I can't just walk up and ask her to be mine. We've been friends since we were little kids, I'd have to ask her on a date, then I'd have to take her on another date if she enjoyed the first one, only then would be able to ask her to be mine.” Seijuro explained to his younger brother, not really sure why he was confiding in someone who's had little to no experience in the topic of relationships.

“That's gonna take you forever why not just tell her you like her but butter her up with a gift first, like tree sap!” The red headed boy groaned at his little brothers suggestions, he wasn't giving a girl he'd fallen in love with tree sap.

“How do you expect to get Gou to go out with you if all you have to offer is tree sap?” Seijuro laughed as he heard Momo whining over the phone.

“I'm going to meet (Y/n) soon, we haven't seen each other in a while. Maybe I'll just tell her tonight.” Momo cheered on the other line.

“Good luck, Sei!”

When the boy hung up the phone, Seijuro began making his way to the restaurant you were due to meet at, he'd admit to himself a long time ago that you were so much more than a friend.

He figured it out when you'd been separated in highschool, you didn't get to see each other often and he realised how much he missed you when you weren't there and how much relife he felt when you were wasn't something he felt for his other friends.

He knew the feeling was mutual, something he'd also figured out in highschool by the way whenever he'd talk about another girl he'd met you'd go quiet and start to look a little sad.

Since then most of his attention was on you, he didn't like seeing you upset, especially if he was the reason you were upset.

Both of your third years had been kind of rocky, you were a manager on the swim team at Iwatobi, so you'd gotten a front row ticket to Seijuro falling all over Gou.

You'd felt so bad for feeling jealous, he wasn't yours, Gou was an amazing girl you didn't blame him for being into her, but that had been a wake up call for you.

You couldn't sit and wait around for Seijuro to suddenly confess his love to you when he was telling everyone in his line of sight that they were “pretty cute”.

So that year you'd accepted a boy in your classes offer to go on a date with him, he was an okay guy, pretty cute, not a great personality, to be honest, he was kind of an ass.

Seijuro had told you this but you'd told him to stop worrying, but of course, the red head you were tryna erase your feelings for was right and you ended up right back in his arms, crying when things went wrong.

It was a tough year but you both got through it, even grew from it.

You both knew the love was there but neither of you knew how to handle it.

Because of this, Momo decided to step up.

Joint practice was just about to end when Momo got the call from the former Samezuka captain.

He'd gathered Nitori, Rin, Sousuke and the Iwatobi boys together and told them about how Seijuro wanted to ask you out but was too afraid to, he'd also mentioned that it was his moral obligation to help his big brother out.

His plan was a stupid one, but Haru and Makoto, who knew you since the first year of high school, agreed to help out since they'd grown well used to your pinning for the older Mikoshiba. The other boys took a little more persuading but eventually Momo, with promises of stag beetles and tree sap, convinced them to help out.

He planned on getting a table a little bit away from you and observing, if it looked like nothing was going to happen he'd intervene.

They'd arrived at the restaurant about ten minutes before Seijuro did, they watched as he sat down and waited for you to show, not missing the excitement on his face when you did.

He'd risen from his seat and greeted you with a tight hug, his arms wrapping around your waist and yours pulling him in from around his shoulders.

“Sei! I've missed you!” You said once you pulled away, taking the seat next to him in the booth.

“I've missed you too, cutie.”

The night went on with awkward laughter, sneaky glances and lots and lots of sexual tension.

Momo as well as the other guys were staring to get bored, they couldn't leave and risk being noticed so they stayed put and watched you both teeter between the line of friendship and love.

What they weren't aware of was the fact you'd both been well aware they were there, they were pretty hard to miss.

“Don't look now, but Momo, Nitori, Rin, Sousuke, Haru, Makoto, Nagisa and Rei are sitting right across from us with fake mustaches and plastic glasses.” You stated leaning into Seijuro to pretend like you were saying something funny to him, he played along chuckling and wrapping his arm around your shoulder.

“Yeah I saw them as soon as I came in, they came to spy on us.” He informed you with a humorous smile, which you returned.

“And why would they do that?” Seijuro sighed, but pulled you a little closer, he guessed now was a good a time as any to both get the girl he loved and get his little brother off his back.

“Probably to make sure I didn't chicken out of asking you to be my girl.” His cheeks were red but he held your gaze, your cheeks mimicked his and you allowed yourself to give him a nervous smile.

“That was something you planned on doing?” You tried to keep your voice neutral but it came out sounding more hopeful than you would've liked.

Seijuro nodded his head, his bigger hand moving to clasp yours under the table.

“I've loved you since highschool and I've been meaning to ask but I wasn't sure how. But I want you to be mine, and if this is too fast I completely under-” Before he could finish you'd placed your lips over his, he didn't waste time in moving his lips against yours, the kiss becoming awkward because of the smiles forming on both of your faces.

“I love you too. I wanna be yours if you'll be mine.” Seijuro leaned his forehead against yours, his smile as wide as it could get.

“Sounds like a deal, cutie.”

The boys adorned in fake mustaches and plastic glasses, sat staring at the newly formed couple in silence until Nitori chuckled and nudged Momo’s arm.

“Guess they didn't need your help after all, huh?”
