why i write in obsidian.md (and why you should try it!)
hey, hi, have I mentioned my notes app? let me tell you about my notes app! I’ve been writing in obsidian for over a year now, for fanfic and original fiction/worldbuilding (and dungeons and dragons, and life organisation, and a myriad of other things) and so far I’ve gotten at least three people to also start using it, and I am in fact on an endless quest to get more people to try it.
obsidian.md how do i love thee, let me list the ways:
It’s offline. you are not beholden to the whims of wifi!
Did i mention it’s free? it’s free!
you can pay to support the devs, or to access the sync service, but honestly I just use a free file sync service to move things between my desktop/laptop.
It’s super lightweight at its core. you can (and I do) run it with a bunch of plugins and customisation, but at it’s base it’s just text, in simple files. plaintext. readable by anything. your writing is not trapped in proprietary file formats.
HOWEVER you can in fact customise every aspect of it and if you like Making Your Notes Cute I cannot recommend it enough as a Way To Procrastinate Actually Writing
Crucially, you can link your notes. This is phenomenal for not only worldbuilding, but planning, research, outlining and connecting characters and events. You just make a note, type in square brackets, and boom. linked notes. You can make yourself a little writing wikipedia with approximately 0 effort.
Tumblr media
I have separate vaults (Instances, pretty much. Big overarching folders with separate sets of content) for my Valloroth project, my day-to-day notes/fanfic, and my D&D game. They’re aesthetically very different, which is so so so great for getting in the right headspace for the work I’m doing.
OH and we have obsidian canvas now! which is a simple mind-mapping feature where you can make and connect note cards, which can also be notes in your vault. I haven’t had a chance to do timelines with it yet, but it’ll be fun for that. I have made relationship charts with it, and it was great for that. If you like visually laying out boxes of information and connecting them into a pepe silvia board of plot, canvas is incredible
Tumblr media
this is a pointcrawl map I made for my D&D game. Those red words in the boxes? links to the locations in the city the players were exploring. phenomenal
do you like split screen? you can have multiple notes open at once in horizontal and vertical configurations, and you can also open multiple tabs in each split window. it’s SO great for research and outlining, when you need like ten documents open at once to move between
Tumblr media
finally, there are so many addons to COMPLETELY CUSTOMISE your Writing Setup. styling for tags. kanban boards. LINKABLE MAPS. ways to label scenes with metadata and pull just so many different tables/lists of story information. AND SO MANY MORE. I’m gonna do a whole post of my favourite writing plugins at some point so i can yell about them
the only downsides are that it’s somewhat clunky still to export things out of obsidian—I copy my fics into googledocs for my beta, and I have a plugin to make exporting to html easier to post on ao3, but it’s still kinda fiddly. Also, if you want a program that Has Everything and Just Works, this is…not that. you can build a lot of really useful writing specific features, but you do have to build them. it’s a sandbox, so if you don’t like sandbox-style programs, this may not work for you.
that being said, I do think everyone should try it and play with it and love it like I do and convince all their friends to start using it like i did. come play with obsidian with me! it’s fun! there’s a great community in the official discord that’s very active, plus an ever-growing collection of resources, particularly on youtube (highly reccommend Danny Hatcher’s videos as a jumping in point, they’re super accessible imo)
anyway, come try obsidian!

Hi.... :] before we get into this I wanna say one (1) thing: I'm pro-Palestine AND (shocker) pro-Israel. I'm hitting a hornets nest tagging this with pro-Palestine when how I view being for Palestine is so drastic to others' views.
Any sort of harassment or antisemitism will be reported and you will be blocked. We don't hate Jews or Israelis here. Also, if you tag this post with "to the river to the sea Palestine will be free" you're ignorant and dunno what the fuck you're saying.
This post is lengthy (imo) and just my personal spew on stuff, it's nothing like...revolutionary lol. I just need to get shit out somehow.
I don't get the anti-Israel crowed like....they know nothing and its so baffling they'll just say shit they don't understand the concept or history of. You can be pro-Israel and hate the Israeli government, you can be pro-Palestine while also realizing that the history is very convoluted and if you did a simple YouTube search about history on Palestine and Israel you'd be more educated. You can be both pro-Israel and pro-Palestine...shocker I know!
I've learned more from YouTube than in history class. I've also learned that antisemitism is very easy to fall into, which is something I knew but didn't understand. Pro-Palestinians I don't doubt actually care, I'd love to think most Pro-Palestinians actually give a fuck about the murders that're happening! The downside is that they're falling and repeating shit the fucking Nazis would say in the name of activism and see NO ISSUE. (Saying "gas the Jews" and holding up Nazi flags is, even in the name of activism, antisemetic.)
I try and not be cynical, but like there's literal dog whistles and antisemetic shit being spoken about and there's signs being put up that says "No Jews" and there's even fucking Tumblr blogs with "Jews DNI" on them. (I've seen them, they're very much real. Most of them have "Zionists DNI" which is usually just a dog whistle to Jews, but I digress.)
Don't get me started on fucking Zionism actually, no one knows what the fuck that is and they claim they do when they don't. It's so brain numbing!
"Go back to where you came from!" that'd be Israel....which you wanna get rid of. That's also what Zionism is btw. Jews are from Israel...please Google things before you open your yapper.
I can only find solace in the Jumblr tag (& similar ones) because they have knowledge about what the fuck is going on and I won't get called a "Zionist Nazi"!
In the face of chaos I will say that studying and my plans to convert one day is the best decision I've ever made; you can't get rid of Jews, no matter how much you want us gone. Reading the Torah, researching about Israel, learning the culture, the food, the language, etc. It's healing and I'm glad to be coming home slowly but surely. Am yisrael chai.

hi! new to hockey here and i have a maybe dumb question: we got kyle as “president of hockey operations”. are we still looking for a general manager? or is president of hockey operations just another way to name the GM position? thank you 🤍🤍
Hi! Welcome. Not dumb at all, the front office stuff in the NHL can get obtuse.
POHO is a separate position from GM. Generally, for teams that employ both positions, the GM reports to the POHO, who has final say on the overall team strategy and vision, as well as other aspects of hockey operations (hiring scouts, training staff, the analytics department, etc—everything needed for the care and feeding of a successful hockey team). It is up to the GM to align with the POHO and execute the vision by handling trades, the draft, managing the cap, etc—basically the day-to-day running and team-building. Not all teams have a POHO (before Brian Burke the Penguins never had), and in those cases the GM generally handles all of the tasks of both roles.
Kyle said yesterday in his presser that since we are close to some key dates (the draft is at the end of the month and free agency starts July 1), he’s going to hold off on searching for a GM until July, and will be performing those duties himself on an interim basis. This is the right call IMO because it allows him to focus on learning the team and its organizational strengths and weaknesses, work on identifying where hires might need to be made, and focus on getting the draft and the start of free agency right. It also means he won’t be rushing the GM search just for the sake of hiring someone to be a body in that position, so he’s more likely to get that right, too.
The downside is a lot of the major GM work of the off-season might be finished by the time he’s conducting interviews and making his final decision, and that may put off some candidates—however, there are only 32 GM roles in the league, and my impression was that Kyle sees this as a long-term position for him, and thus presumably for whoever he hires as GM as well. That means that while they might miss out on this summer, they’ll have the foreseeable future to work on maximizing the Sidney Crosby window while also looking to shortening the rebuild window once the core retires—and as Kyle has said he plans to pick someone with a more progressive eye towards team construction, it’s likely they would have been aligned on the decisions Kyle will be making over the next few weeks anyway.
Hope that helps—let me know if anything doesn’t make sense or if you have more questions!

If you're sorta making this into a vtuber account i might as well ask you, with those pngtuber models, do you have a guide on how to get started with them? Also, do characters need to have humanlike face proportions to be able to like, work correctly? What if you wanted to make a bird, where the mouth is like really long and beak shaped? Would that be a problem for the honk stuff?
God this looks incomprehensible, sorry
not incomprehensible at all! whenever i get a chance i would definitely love to put together tutorials, both quick step-by-step guides and longer videos (bc idk about you but for me, the ideal is when BOTH types of tutorial exist lmao!!!)
in the meantime, there are tons of tutorials that already exist on youtube for pngtubing, and a few for setting up in honk specifically, but i'm not sure how many exist for best ways to actually draw the model and organize parts (layer organization etc) and stuff like that bc i didn't look for those when i was getting started. when i get around to it any guides i make will probably be more about that than the tech stuff, bc other people already have the tech covered!
honk has documentation/guides of its own, and the community page on itch.io can be really good for troubleshooting specific issues. honk is my primary recommendation if you want to get into pngtubing -- the program is paid ($12 USD) and model setup is a bit more laborious, but only in the beginning, and i think the liveliness of the lip sync and the eye tracking is well worth it! a downside is that honk doesn't currently have gif support, which a lot of other pngtubing programs do have, but there are plans to add it in the future.
this is the method i've used for setting up a discord reactive pngtuber (the second method on the page, "stream kit reactive images" - i know it may seem like a lot of steps, but if you take your time and follow the instructions closely it's not so bad! i am NOT tech savvy and still figured it out, so anyone can.) you only need discord and OBS to run this setup, and you can fiddle with it to do collabs (multiple people's pngtubers all on screen at the same time, lighting up and talking while you're in a discord call! fun for multiplayer games), but of course it can also be your main setup with just you alone in a private voice channel as your mic input.
and a good middle ground between honk and the discord reactive setup would be a program like veadotube mini! it does the same thing as the discord reactive setup (display a talk sprite when you're talking and a silent one when you're not), but in a self-contained program on your computer just like honk. i haven't used veadotube myself, but i see other pngtubers mention it as their program of choice.
i do have one video up of myself rigging my model in honk -- i wouldn't call it a guide or a tutorial though, because it's very informal and we also ran into a pretty annoying bug that made the process go less smoothly than i would have hoped :') (also the first few mins of video are muted bc my music got dmca flagged lmfao but the important stuff is all there!) but anyway if you just want a quick look at how a model looks getting put together in the program you might find that interesting.
you could ABSOLUTELY do something like the bird u described in honk, it's really really flexible. the way honk works is u just have to have different images drawn for different lip synch mouth shapes (try googling "animation lip sync mouth shapes" and check out the image results for an idea of what i mean), assign them to different consonant/vowel sounds in the program, and it automatically matches it up for you with voice recognition. so imo the challenge in that case would be an art challenge (figure out how you want to draw lip sync shapes with a beak), not a technical/program-specific challenge. but if you didn't feel like fucking with all that, you could just repeatedly use the same open beak image for all the sounds, and it would just make the beak open and close when you talk!
i haven't tried making a honk model where the mouth breaks the silhouette, which might be the case with a bird character like that depending on how you have the head angled, but theoretically i don't see why it would be an issue. a regular pngtuber would be really straightforward as well!

personally I love Victoria but I strongly feel that the dreaming death thing should have been Wrong. authorially, thematically, pulling an arbitrary swerve out of nowhere where it was a good thing for vague nonsense reasons, was the wrong move actually. Victoria should have been forcibly enlisting everyone in a bad plan that she had no good reason to think would work and then it should have not worked. Final Arc Victoria should have been Khepri But If She Definitely Did Not Do Jack Shit Against Scion
What's maybe worse is that I can kind of see what wb was going for with the dreamplague. IMO it was a really interesting idea and good as a narrative goal, but had frustratingly awful execution.
Long post beneath cut.
Ward is about a cape vs civilian conflict-
Capes are people who have agency, and (theoretically) solve problems quickly, definitively, and often through violence. Their powers are usually defined by trigger events, a single moment of trauma, and their passengers put more importance on single, heightened moments and turning points rather than on continual work and effort.
Civilians are often defined by a lack of agency, and gradually deal with problems slowly through continual hard work and effort. When you ask the question of "what is the role of civilians in the cape world" the answers involve things like "slowly rebuilding damaged environments/buildings", "production of equipment", and "therapy and continual medicine". Even answers that involve violence, require more constant training and effort than powers do. Maybe most importantly, all of these answers involve civilians (at least as individuals) having a lot less agency than capes.
Victoria exists on both sides of this divide, being an almost platonic ideal of a cape, whilst also being someone who has had her agency stripped from her (and repeatedly goes up against masters). The rest of breakthrough are similar, each dealing with (often agency related) issues that they are unable to solve quickly and conclusively, and are instead forced to slowly deal with and/or adjust to.
Then, at then end of the story, the dreamplague happens, and it represents a shift. Cape society, who has always had more agency, gives that agency to civilians. When everyone wakes up the world is still broken, and there is no clear, conclusive way of fixing it- they instead have to put in slow, gradual effort to make things better. Simultaneous to this, Victoria gives up her cape identity and throws her costume away.
And I love that idea! I love the concept of heroism being inherently flawed! Of course you can't expect to solve problems with a climactic struggle!
In real life there are Big Moments and epiphanies and turning points, but the vast majority of the time if you want to change things you have to put in continuous, boring effort, and its fascinating for a story about superheroes to state that.
However, the ways in which this statement is explored are incredibly badly communicative and just god awful in general.
There are a bunch of different parts to this and I'll skim over some of them.
The fact that the reader is originally told that the dreamplague is an act of mass suicide (self destruction is more of a cape trait, so is the dreamplague meant to be a cape act or a civilian one?), is a big part of this. The lack of non-cape voice, and the fact that a lot of the civilian perspective isn't made sympathetic. A big part is the role breakthrough played the cape vs civilian conflict, both in how obscurely it communicates that theme and in how it lead wildbow to write some of the worst lgbt representation of his career.
I think a lot of what you're talking about anon, is the fact that it was originally depicted as an act of suicide, and that is was a huge risk on Victoria's part (that paid off with no downsides).
Worm, in contrast, is up front about how damaging the brain-warping is, and involves Taylor taking a risk that destroyed her as much as it saved the world. It was a bad plan in a number of respects, but it also has Taylor paying a price for it, and has a kind of weight because of this. I think that weight is why a lot of people don't like the idea of Taylor being in ward (or the idea of her surviving altogether).
In a way, I kind of have the opposite opinion, in that I'm ok with Taylor surviving Khepri (as a cape or otherwise), and I think some version of the dreamplague could have worked really well.
But I think what we share is a feeling that there should have been more consistency. I feel like if someone makes one of these big risky moves in the parahumans universe, it should be treated with the same kind of gravity, and should involve similar levels of narrative punishment (if there is narrative punishment at all). Similarly I feel that if a character does something suicidal or self destructive, the narrative should be relatively consistent as to how it treats that action.
That's my take anyway.

anyway here's some power of the doctor thoughts from someone who phased in and out of thirteen's era very casually and only saw like a cumulative 10 episodes of it, maybe
honestly i enjoyed it more-or-less/more than i expected, lol, maybe because i had no particular expectations riding on it i just wanted to see what would happen. i don't think it was the tightest or most coherent script but no showrunner's finale ever has been LMAO so... it is what it is.
the master's entire plan seemed overly convoluted and i don't entirely follow why we had half the plot elements we had, but i'm also always willing to accept the master doing fuckshit for reasons that don't really go beyond wanting to ruin the doctor's day and get their attention. so like. sure. i can roll w that lmfao. the daleks and cyberman stuff seemed totally superfluous too but... whatever idc
dhawan's master isn't my fave master but he's enjoyable to watch, imo. the most bonkers one of the 3 modern i think? which considering the competition is a high bar, lol.
i think a bigger crit, for me, of 13-era master is more on jodie's end, where i don't get as much conflict and whatnot from her, which in turn makes it a less interesting dynamic than the other modern master+doctor combos. the push-pull mutual obsession is what makes them fun! i don't believe 13 would cradle his body sobbing and begging him to regenerate after he tortured her for a year, so really, what's the point
it was nice seeing ace and tegan. i think i maybe once saw a serial with each but it was so long ago, so i won't pretend any kind of authority in terms of how they were written. but i liked having them around lol
i think it was a bit of an odd choice to have dhawan 'take over' the doctor's body or ...whatever... in jodie's very last episode. it would've been a better showcase for jodie whittaker, and accomplished the same basic plan, if somehow HE regenerated into HER, and jodie got to play both the doctor and the master. ah well, because...
i really liked the old doctor cameos! I was not spoiled for it at all and i thought it was very sweet, especially giving five+tegan and seven+ace their moments together.i'm sure the actors appreciated a chance to be together too. just nice :) and i love my man eight lmao... king
also the mishmash outfit of all the past doctor outfits was cute
i thought the "tag you're it" line was a cute ending line! (although it would've been better if she regenerated into ncuti ...lol. i'm sure it was written and acted long before they settled on the 60th plans so i guess it can't be helped.)
the big downside to me was: yaz and thasmin
thasmin isn't a ship i'm invested in personally but i did start watching again after they canonized yaz's feelings in EOTD because i was like oh, how far will the show go with this? and the answer is apparently "nowhere". LOTSD felt totally unresolved and then we just never brought it up again. i can live without a kiss or a happily ever after, but when you've spent nearly a year patting yourselves on the back for a queer doctor/companion relationship, only to not do the barest minimum to address it, that's fucked up. why canonize your accidental-by-admission subtext if you're not going to DO ANYTHING? sorry to the shippers who really got jerked around by this show for no reason.
and then, even setting aside that irritation, the most egregious thing of all...
yaz's exit. just absolutely flabbergasted they did yaz/mandip so dirty that they didn't even TRY to come up with and articulate a reason for her to leave. ludicrous!!! she spends her whole time swallowing her feelings for the doctor's comfort and that extends all the way to leaving because the doctor kicked her out with nary a hug? what the fuck? one of the longest running companions ever and this is the sendoff she gets, kicked out because the doctor decides, sans explanation, she "needs to be alone" to regenerate despite having regenerated with many companions prior? lmao... yaz sweetie i'm so sorry. she doesn't even get to give the speech to the companion support group. my god. martha jones you need to call her up immediately

Was having Dog Thoughts so here I am infodumping about dog breeds I like
Dutch Shepherd:
Literally the perfect dog (at least for me). The intelligence, handler focus, and biddability (is this a word? It is now) are my ideal. Something as simple as playing fetch with a dutchie is on a completely different level. While I'm partial to the FCI dogs, I do see the appeal of the KNPV dutchies, but they're (generally speaking) a little much for me. They're, imo, the perfect dog for me to do sports with, but also the perfect dog to take on a backpacking trip over a long weekend. I can really only say good things about dutchies, and they have a hold on me like no other dog breed has before. Every article I've read or video I've watched talking about the negatives of a Dutch Shepherd, all I've been able to think is "that sounds fine I'm down for that." In fact, what most people would consider downsides in any shepherd dog I've only been able to see them as quirks or upsides, and that goes double for dutchies. When I get a dutchie in the near future (I am manifesting next year as the Year of the Dutchie), sports I want to do include: Mondio Ring, nosework, and dock diving, but honestly a Dutch Shepherd is the perfect dog for me to try out most sports I'm interested in.
German Shepherd (specifically DDR/Czech Working Line):
This is my favorite type of GSD. GSDs are usually less intense than a Dutch Shepherd, and I do see the appeal in that. However, from what I've read, that might not be applicable to DDR GSDs. Apparently, back in the day when there was still an East and West Germany, West German GSDs were always out done by East German (DDR) GSDs. For example, if a West German dog had to do a track with seven articles, a DDR dog would do a ten article track with at least one turn. DDRs also have thicker coats and are overall bigger dogs. The size is a downside for me personally, and I also don't really like how often breeders only seem to title their working line GSDs in IPO/IGP and barely anything else, and that applies to most working line GSD breeders I've looked at in the States. If I got a DDR (which I personally do not plan on doing) I'd probably actually stay away from bite sports unless I found a breeder who was titling at least some of their dogs in Ring Sports, but I would definitely do a TON of nosework with a GSD, and possibly some herding as well.
Canaan Dogs:
This dog is like the proto-shepherd. One of if not the oldest dog breeds in the world, they were feral less than 100 years ago, and that is still reflected in their temperament. They are the only dog breed I've ever heard of as being conditional when it comes to work/relationship with the dog, kind of like a person. They're a little on the small size for me (averaging under 50 lbs), and from what I've read they don't have nearly as much energy as a dutchie or GSD. They're also an extremely rare breed. Herding and nosework would definitely be my sports of choice for a Canaan, since herding is what they've been bred to do since antiquity, and nosework is what they're bred a lot for now. This is also the only dog on here that is not capable of bitework, but they are an incredibly alert dog.

With how all over the place and messy his motivations seem to be, it almost would have made more sense to me for the primary motivation of his turn to be the simple fact that he's working in retail lol. Lord knows there were plenty of bad days where I was like "people are a mistake" and might have been willing to end the known universe if just one more thing went wrong or I had to deal with one more horrible, unreasonable customer. At least Hisui is largely empty, so there are way, way less people to deal with, but on the downside he doesn't get any fun battles like a modern trainer would, just a lot of commute time featuring deadly encounters. He's young too, like older teenager-early twenties and seems to have cooked up this whole mess quite a few years ago, which aren't anyone's most stable. HC from you of echo chamber of discontent with his evil togekiss + job he hates and no end in sight + the recklessness of youth = ripping holes in space and time to yell at god and demand they fix the world, makes sense to me.
But to your point, him having an actual, regular ass job is a nice change of pace! I can't think of any other big bad who has one... except maybe whatshisname from Kalos? Forget what he does but maybe ceo? Even Giovanni is a gym leader, which is like a special job. Not comparable to some dead-end retail job. Though I guess Volo and Giovanni do have a handshake meme of shirking their duties to do their real passion, so there is that.
wwkjhwjkh yeah honestly, lysander and (i think) lusamine and rose technically have Jobs, but even ceo is kind of a Special Job in the same way a gym leader is imo. there really are kind of no other villains who are just some guy normally i don't think. volo's entire Thing really is justifiable purely on the basis that he is like twenty (hell years) working retail (hell job) with an apocalypse plan he's been sitting on since he was fifteen (you are your absolute least rational at fifteen.) and sadly he somehow found out a real workable way to end and remake reality. when you think about it from that angle he really makes so much more sense as a character and person.
srsly though i know i've said this before but i think volo makes waaaay more sense as a character if you ignore the tangle that is his canon ranting and look at him as a very young and DEEPLY miserable person who is on so many levels not making stable decisions. he hates his job, hates his life, has a miserable life history, plus with the added confirmation that there's sort of a general air of gloom & doom around hisui atm that's like, the cultural/social situation he's been steeped in (even if he goes elsewhere as a guild member, he pretty clearly considers hisui His considering the whole fixation on arceus.) dude was Not set up for success. modern au where volo goes to therapy and gets a couple prescriptions and gets to live out his true purpose of being some fucking guy

I just want to say that I love your interpretation of Midoriya and Toshinori relationship mostly because it always made sense to me how its develop and the way it did. I liked when Toshinori tells Midoriya that he began to want to live for Midoriya and no longer wanted to accept the destiny that Sir nighteye had seen for him, but I don't mean it as a form of unhealthy codependency, but as a gradual change, Toshinori and Midoriya start the manga quite lonely, All Might's life was always quite isolated especially due to the weight of being the symbol of peace and Midoriya was a loner without friends, both are there to help each other at the beginning, Midoriya needs help to accept that the OFA belongs to him that Toshinori chose him and there was never a replacement (unlike what happened with AFO and Tomura) and Toshinori for his part began to find a new purpose in life, as a mentor, above all I like it because it's realistic sometimes a person begins to live because someone presents him with a new purpose and over time that becomes more, Izuku is the initial tip foot but not his only motivation, they develop relationships with other characters, Toshinori with other adults and Izuku with his classmates. They both grow up and have their problems but I think that a closure between them and maybe even including Tenko could be very satisfying, a final acceptance of what they represent in each other's lives.
Thank you so much @irontragedyreview (referring to this ask). I completely agree with you that this part of BnHA resonates with me because it feels very real. When Izuku and All Might meet in Chapter 1, both end up revealing their deepest fear to the other. When they depart on the rooftop, neither one is happy. Neither one is being their ideal self or best self, and I think we all feel that way sometimes. Izuku is forcing himself to accept “reality” and All Might is cursing himself as “pathetic.” But when Izuku sees Kacchan in danger? It all goes out the window. Even though Izuku logically knows he never could have stopped the sludge villain, he’s glad he made the effort. Izuku has no regrets — knowing he DID SOMETHING to try and help made him happy and made him forget about “reality.” To truly be himself, Izuku has to take action. (IMO, this is the difference between Izuku and Mirio. Izuku has to save because it’s who he is; Mirio wants to save as a goal.) All Might sees it in Izuku and knows it’s the same illogical “mad zeal” that drives him too. Yes, that “mad zeal” has a huge downside, but seeing it in Izuku inspires All Might to do better and to be more than “fake muscles and insincerity.” Nobody — not Nighteye, not Torino, not Tsukauchi — really understood All Might’s ideal self the way Izuku does. It’s why Izuku was the only choice for a successor. It’s relatable because we’ve all had those moments where someone just gets us. For some of us those moments don’t happen very often, so when they do, they’re magic.
Next thing we know, All Might and Izuku are committed to each other, with All Might continually showing up to help Izuku pass the UA exam rather than wallowing, and Izuku devoting himself to the plan (sometimes overdoing it!) to make All Might proud. It gets them both out of their own heads, even if Izuku can’t see how he, a lonely child who made an unsuccessful rescue effort, could have inspired THE All Might. And that’s okay, because a child doesn’t have to know the depths of an adult’s issues. It should never be a child’s job to prop up an adult [sighs in Todoroki]. Izuku won’t really understand the downside of All Might’s isolation until his own solo stint. It’s like how becoming a parent suddenly makes you see your own parents’ choices in a different light. I had no idea how barely mine were holding their shit together, and over the years I’ve found myself apologizing profusely.
Inko, being a fellow adult, recognizes how much All Might admires Izuku, and tells All Might to live for (and look out for) Izuku. Then, Aizawa inspires All Might to live for all his students — and a country full of people who find hope in a world with All Might in it. Stain finally drives home that living and being All Might doesn’t have anything to do with power or quirks. It has to do with a heart, will, and soul that “burns fiercely in service of others.”
To bring it back around full circle, All Might was wrong about pro heroes physically needing to put their life on the line for every fight. There are so many heroes, the risks could be much lower if they worked together. But All Might is right in what he initially told Izuku — living a life of service and helping others is noble, pro hero or not. He’s also right that heroes can’t stand around and wait for the right quirk. Heroes can’t forget about volunteer service and unglamorous things. And bystanders shouldn’t just gawk at a kid being suffocated. (Talk about insincerity!) Everyone needs to play their part in helping each other. That starts sounding a lot like the type of society Shigaraki wants to see, doesn’t it? From what we know of young Tenko, he too just wanted to be a hero because he loved being nice and playing with kids who didn’t otherwise have friends. Tenko felt like he could “take on the world right now” when he learned his grandmother was a hero.
Underneath all of AFO’s distortions, I suspect Tenko shares that “mad zeal” to help others. But first he needs heroes to save him, eradicate AFO like the parasite he is, and teach Tenko how to live in alignment with his — not AFO’s — ideals. Tenko doesn’t need ANOTHER surrogate father, but he needs a mentor and friends on the hero side of the coin. Who better (and more inspirational) than All Might and Izuku as they are at the end of their arcs? Or, to put another way, if they were still lonely and clinging to each other, would either one reach out to save Tenko (or inspire others like Bakugo to do so)? And if they did, would they be in a good mindset to actually help him vs making him feel like he’s “beneath” the heroes?

Hello Celta, Williams 40th, a momentous occasion. He’s officially lived passed his moms age by 4 years. It’s a very sobering fact. Plus also see the empress’ and honeytothebee take on the media war Charles is conducting against his own son. I believe the whole Jamaican diplomatic snafu and some media shenanigans with the Caribbean tour were at the hands of CH. Added to that was his jealous brother and venomous sister in law and their army of zealots adding fuel to the flame. Looking at Lady K’s reading today on this very matter makes me surmise that William is playing his own game with these idiots. I know bloggers are complaining yesterday and today that there’s no new big splash to mark the occasion. No photos, no honours, nothing but William’s interest in homelessness, his late mothers cause. It must drive Charles and Camilla up the wall. Even his uncle Prince Andrew got into the act, throwing a hissy fit because his birthday won’t be celebrated with bells or flag raising. HTMQ made the ruling that only her and Charles will be granted the honour. It makes her Maj look weak and Andrew petty.
I think William not causing a big splash is throwing them off their game. Both CH, Montecito and the Yorks. They and us don’t know what to make of it. I think by William not drawing attention to himself, makes him less of a target to be attacked by CH, Andrew and the Americans. I think he plans to play his cards very close to his vest going forward, as Lady K suggested, both by his moving house and his movements around his work. He’ll let his work and actions speak for itself. I think William see all the games being played around him, and has devised a plan to counter the attacks. It’s very sad to see this level of pettiness and infighting, but what did her Maj expect? She’s lived a long live where she spoiled and rewarded the ingrates in her family. And the downside of this was that the longer she was monarch, the longer it went on, with her two eldest sons increasing their entitled and bratty behaviour. William has haired a savvy new comms specialist and is probably taking his advice. Less is more, until the joint birthday bash, if that ever happens. We’ ll have to wait and find out. I think William is playing the long game here.
Hi AnonymousRetired,
I was surprised that there was no 'something extra' to mark Prince William's 40th birthday, and I plan to do a reading on why. It could very well be part of how he is being proactive about all the behind-closed-doors stuff that we don't know about.
I don't think Her Majesty has knowingly and deliberately spoilt her children. I do think that she has a soft spot for Prince Andrew and tends to trust him more than is wise imo. I also think that at their advanced ages any spoilt behaviour is on the sons themselves. 73 years and 62 years is more than old enough to take responsibility for your behaviour. In my opinion your behaviour becomes your responsibility around the age of 30 (at the first Saturn return for the astrologers out there), rather than something you blame on your parents and/or your upbringing. After age 30 it is up to you to do something about it - change it, embrace it, whatever you decide., it is now on you. This is the same reason that I pin Prince Harry's behaviour firmly on him and not on his parents or his upbringing. :)
Like you, I am not sure if the joint birthday bash is a definite event or just a rumour. If it does happen then I hope both the Cambridges enjoy themselves.

Thanks for answering all my questions with so much detail. Saves me asking multiple more. I have a question I’m hoping you can answer. I’m fairly new to Tumblr, new to the OL fandom or whatever you might call it. But on tumblr specifically it’s obvious there are groups. What I don’t get is why some will outright block someone if you’re not in agreement with their views OR if you’re unknown. For instance, I’ve not posted anything except reblogged a couple things. That’s it. I didn’t realize you could hide who you follow at first, but have been blocked by people FOR DOING NOTHING BUT READING their blogs. I read many. From many different points of view. How else is one to get information from a time when I wasn’t around? It’s mind blowing to me. I always go to your blog first. You always have great info and straightforward answers. Thx.
Thank you for writing to me Anon. Really like your message and happy to answer your questions.
I think I best answer this question by telling, from my very own experience how I came to end up here myself. By doing about the same you do right now. Reading on a lot of different blogs and platforms, reading several views and trying to draw my own conclusions from it. It's, imo, a healthy habit to read more than one view on things, it gives you a broader view.
I think for me it started on Twitter, end of 2019. If I remember correct, one of the first tweets I saw of him was when he arrived in Paris for the Landcon and getting shite on his hat by a bird. I just looked him up on Twitter, didn't follow him but was curious.
When I looked again, I encountered my first experience of the downside of this fandom. It was during Nola, when a fan was invited on the podium for a little game with the cast, in particular with SH. She made a sort of gesture when she stood behind him, looking like she touched his butt. Someone caught it on video from an angle where it looked like she did. And boy, whole Twitter went bullocks about it. They quickly found out who she was, and the woman was bullied and slaughtered right in front of my eyes. It blew my mind away... Little later on, it turned out she didn't touch him at all, just made a gesture in jest. Another video surfaced from another angle showing that nothing happened. And [here it comes, pay attention!], yes even S came on Twitter to defend the fan saying nothing happened. Still the woman was deteriorated and bullied of of Twitter while I was just watching the whole storm.
Well, that was my first experience and I was wise enough not to interfere, no matter how wrong I thought it was. I shook my head and focused on what was going on in the rest of the world. China was building extra hospitals in a week time while scientists started giving out louder and louder warnings that there was something very wrong with this virus and we all should be prepared.
I watched the OL S5 premiere and a fair bit of interviews about it. Didn't had any particular thoughts about it. But was interested in the show, the story. I started reading the books after discovering the show. Meanwhile, the virus threat was building up, hit Europe, Italy was first and I felt more and more concerned by it. Traveling was discouraged and after spring break we had an outbreak in the Netherlands ourselves. People coming home from ski trips in Italy and people celebrating carnival spread the virus in my country.
And that's where I started to wonder about S, gallivanting around in Portland, Mexico and promoting his BS movie. Theaters were already closing here, other movies that planned to release about that time postponed the release. And there he was still promoting and encouraging people to go to the theater to see his movie. Little by little I saw here and there some tweets, voices that said, this isn't good, this isn't going to end well. But they were silenced by his ardent fans and ... by him, when he RT-d not only the fans that happily tweeted risking their lives by going to the theater for his movie, but also a news article he seemed to have found on apple news, stating the virus was 'just a bad flu'.
That's when more and more people on Twitter came out to set him straight and telling him what was going on in Europe, people dying, corpses on the street in Italy because they had not enough capacity, hospitals, healthcare workers, mortuaries... Meanwhile the WHO already called the issue a global pandemic. Europe went in lockdown, governments calling their citizens to travel back home and stay home. I canceled my (first) birthday in lockdown.
Then he had a Q&A on Twitter, it was then when Nuria asked him innocently where he was spending his confinement.
Tumblr media
And it all blew up when Pooks responded...
Tumblr media
He was getting flak for it, more and more. He already had it after RT-ing the 'just a flu' article, but now the voices were louder (and perhaps not always that decent...)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was one tweet that was rather rude and disrespectful (I don't have a screenshot of it) but he received many more to which he could have responded. He chose to respond to the most rude one though...
Tumblr media
And set the example to block all that criticized him for going on a vacation during a pandemic.
Meanwhile I discovered Tumblr, as one of his ardent fans was tweeting not to go there cause they only spread venom and hate. I never heard of it, really! But don't tell me to 'not' go read somewhere, it only triggers my curiosity to find out myself if it is worth to read there or not... and so that's where I started doing exactly what you are doing Anon. Reading on several blogs, lurking actually. I didn't even had an account and wasn't planning to create one.
I started to find out about different groups that were quite aggressive to people with other opinions, something that turned me off but nevertheless I gave it the merit of my time to form my own opinion. I was quite appalled to see what was going on on Twitter, the bullying on both sides actually and the aggressive discussions. I found this corner where there was more wit and discussions, though sometimes a little heated were more fun. And I found the more broader view on things that were going on with him as well as in the fandom.
At one point I created an account, still wasn't planning to take part in it all but now and then I felt safe to comment and after all, we were all in lockdown, no theaters, no concerts, no shopping for fun... so 🤷‍♀️
I had a steep learning curve about all the groups, not only here but also in the rest of the fandom and on other platforms. I learned quickly how some bloggers have been searched out and exposed on other blogs of an opposing opinion. So in an early stage I learned not give away too much about my private life, even though I've always exercised restraint of what I put out on the net about myself and with whom to share it.
I know some people also in this corner, block people for not having content on their blog or following certain accounts. Most that I know do this because of a self protection, they've been doxxed. I've been warned to do the same, and be careful, but I don't block in general. Only a few that have proven not to be able to comment in a respectful way on my blog to me or other bloggers that comment on my blogs. I want to keep this a blog where people can differ in opinion and still feel safe to express their opinion. I can however understand that bloggers take precautions to not get doxxed and abused.
I've also been blocked by many, while not even having read their blogs, never went there nor interfered. Bloggers that spread lists about bloggers that, in their opinion need to be blocked, on the list several because they were following me. I don't know what they try to achieve with that honestly. Is it something similar to sticking your head in the sand in order to hope something that is out there goes away? It's pointless and of some childish behaviour imo. It's mindblowing to me too Anon, but that's what this fandom is. Though not everyone is as ardent, and perhaps when people block you because you follow someone not to their liking, they probably are not worth the time of day for you.

Living in Texas (dont think I have to specify what that's like too much... Not super fun imo lol) and planning on moving out pretty soon, too. My step dad said living in Oregon was pretty good while he was there so that's where I've been planning on going to. Specifically, he said the people there are pretty left-leaning and easier to get along with
oregon's definitely my first choice, just because,,, it seems cool, i like nature, and it's as far away from where i currently am as i can affordably get right now. the only downside i can think of is a sorta limited job market and a high cost of living, but everyone needs funeral directors and i've heard it's more manageable if you stay out of the bigger cities. i know everywhere is expressive and awful, but,,, i'm really, really hoping there's at least one place that's a manageable amount of awful.

Erased
[ Anime / Drama Mystery ]
Where to Watch: Netflix
Rating: 9/10
Tumblr media
Warning: Child abuse, death
Hello again! I’m back back back again! I finally had the time (and motivation) to watch <Erased>, which, if you didn’t know, has a lot of buzz for being a really good anime. For the quick summary, it’s about a guy who goes through some dramatic things and magically gets sent back into elementary school to save his life and the lives of his friends.
Fun, cool, and sweet vibes. Obviously the plot sounds very cool. But <Erased> is actually a lot sweeter than you’d think. It’s very elementary students playing detective kind of vibes. No action or super intense moments. It’s just a genuine person wanting to save their friends from getting hurt.
Great story. I think the story was planned well. It had a clear motive, drive, themes, and characters. There isn’t much that confuses you like usual mystery stories do. I appreciated the simplicity.
Truly genuine characters. The group of friends were so sweet and genuine. I love how genuine and sincere they all were, even the mom too. I’m so glad that they showcased the good people to show that not everyone is a bad person.
Now, for the one con of <Erased>,
Short! (might not even be a con lol) The story moves so quickly and has such a clear drive. It’s almost too good! I kind of wish the story lingered for a minute or two to let the audience absorb everything and make sense of everything. I read online that the anime actually shaved some parts off of the original manga, and I feel like I could see that. It didn’t effect the storytelling that much, but it did leave me wanting more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall,
<Erased> is a classic for a reason! I’ve heard nothing but good things about <Erased>, and I can definitely see why it’s so good! The fact that the main downside of the anime is that it’s too short is probably the best compliment lol. The storyline felt very 2016-y vibes, if that makes sense. Aka everything felt a little old styled, but imo it fit the story themes really well. The art style and storytelling was perfect! If it was released in 2023, I think it might’ve been too over the top with the current extravagant anime style. If you’re into crime-related, drama, fantasy, mystery genres, this is perfect. As a true crime fan lol, I loved <Erased>.

Do you have a mod list for the sims 2? I plan on undergoing the project of getting it and the mods it needs to run but I don’t really know any other mods that would be decent
it depends on what you're looking for in your gameplay tbh! A good chunk of my mods I got from a a popular Sims streamer's mod recommendation list, I cherry picked what seemed fun and left out everything else.
In general the ones I ended up liking a lot and will suggest to add because they either improved the game or made it more fun for me personally are:
Autonomous Casual Romance (ACR): this one is a classic, it gives the sims unbelievable autonomy in searching for romantic relationships, deciding whether or not to woohoo and/or try for baby etc. It also gives the opportunity to add specific gender preferences to the characters, to the townies and to have the sexuality on your kid sims randomized for them when they grow into Teens. There's a couple switches in the mod that I find questionable (like the possibility to add teen/adult romance to the game), but you can just switch them off and move on imo. The one true downside to ACR is that it's damn hard to set up, and I had to look up a tutorial for it.
Auto Breakup & Engagements: this one is so much fun paired up with ACR. Sims will autonomously engage or break up with their significant other. It's chaos. I love it.
Just Be Friends Social: another one that I like paired up with ACR. Works wonderfully when I set a Sim as gay (or they rolled as such) but still has a partner/crush of the opposite gender.
Sim Blender: great for using cheats without having to enable and disable cheats, I mostly use it to add family ties that are missing or change sims names that I don’t like.
SimPE: so this is not a mod but it's a tool I suggest downloading. You can do a LOT on it, from changing Sim names to making specific mods and tweaks work, adding family ties for Sims who are related but the game doesn't flag them as such etc. It's a bit hard to use, also back up your game files before using it because I already corrupted shit twice while using it.
Monique’s Hacked Computer: it puts in the Buy Mode a couple PCs with advanced options, like looking for roommates, set up bank accounts for sims (even kids), and order food or pay bills directly from PC.
Job Seeking Notice Board: an item you can use in community lots (and also residential but I like putting it in like a neighborhood employment center) to immediately choose the job your sim wants instead of waiting days for the journal or pc to roll it out of all the options.
Multiple Pollination Technician Mod: this is so useful when you have a lot of people who get kidnapped by aliens. normally there's one PT for neighborhood, so all alien spawns turn out to be half-siblings because of that. This makes it so there are 4 possible PTs, who also look better than the OG one.
Gender Transition Potions: this is just fun. it changes a Sim's gender in game, gives them the memory of their happy transition, and it also includes a tutorial on how to change a Sim's body type on SimPE so that the transition fully takes place.
Last Name Chooser: you can decide which last name the sims get after getting married.
Baby, Toddler and Pregnancy Mods: fixes preexisting issues with babies and toddlers, allows interactions which were supposed to be in game, such as breastfeeding.
More sensible "Can my friend come over, too?": when inviting a Sim over, they’ll tell you which friend they want to bring over as well instead of making you guess who the fuck it’s going to be.
also some generic mod that fix problems I kept having with the game BEFORE i modded it:
Sim Shadow Fix removes the black box that appears instead of a shadow to sims
Date/Outing Stood Up Timer Fix: GET THIS. I kept having sims stand up their dates despite having them right next to the car before the date, this resolved the problem.
Aging Baby to Toddler Fix: you can find it in one of the download files of the mod, it fixes the issue in which sometimes baby bug out and don't age when they should, making the entire household bug as a consequence
Engagement Memory Fix: prevents a sim from randomly getting a bad memory from their engagement when they shouldn't.
No Death Type Loss when Moving Tombstones: prevents the sim from re-getting the memory of loss of a loved one when you move their tomb somewhere else.
I think this is all. You’ll see I don’t use like graphic change mods or any clothes/buy/build mods because 1) I like the way the game looks, and 2) I’m too lazy to try and understand how meshes work.

WILBUR LORE SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT
NOTE: THE BELOW IS TALKING ABOUT THE CHARACTERS FROM THE DREAM SMP, NOT THE CONTENT CREATORS OR ANY OF THEIR OTHER CHARACTERS.
I want Wilbur to apologize again, what we got at the start of the stream wasn't enough imo.
Before anyone yells at me about the whole threatening Dream thing being a grand old attempt at making amends, I feel like I need to explain why doing that cancelled out a fair bit of the good it does.
Because on one hand, great! Dream has no more power over him, in theory.* Tommy still has his discs, Dream is royally fucked (especially if people like Quackity didn't know where he's been hiding until now, cause that information's bound to leak out), and Wilbur has gotten what he wanted: a way to protect Tommy as much as he possibly can from the green bastard that nearly took his life so many times (and succeeded thrice), as well as a way to fully legitimize himself and the nation he created.
But on the other hand, there are so many problems and downsides to this plan. Don't get me wrong, I loved it and was on the edge of my seat the whole time, plus I doubt I (or most other people) could come up with a much better way to do it, but the only two things about the plan (not the execution of it) that Wilbur got flawlessly (or close enough to it) were Dream's weakness and Tommy's reaction needing to believe the discs were genuine.
Here's a list of the things I believe Wilbur should (but probably won't, partially because I don't think he would/should regret most of it, but also because this confrontation felt final enough that I don't think there'd be a continuation) apologize for:
In order to even come up with this plan, he had to push Tommy into taking him to Logstedshire, despite him being INCREDIBLY UNCOMFORTABLE WITH IT.
Outright lying to Tommy about the flint and steel wasn't a fun part of the plan, but I'll pass it cause it would've freaked him out more if he knew Wilbur had it and wasn't using it. Still putting it on the list cause I want to recognize it.
Mentioning he was tired of all the self-targeted damage/death, before immediately turning around and threatening to burn himself alive if Dream doesn't follow orders, which definitely wouldn't be good for the mental health of someone who was contemplating jumping off a cobble tower (and technically did so) and is already panicking over being in the same inescapable building as his abuser and three-time murderer.
Continuing off of that actually, threatening to do it when Tommy started freaking out about the discs. He does not want to see Wilbur (regardless of iteration) die in front of him for what is at least the 3rd time, if not the 5th.
Telling Tommy to shut up basically whenever he spoke. Things do get more complicated when there are multiple voices talking at once and you start getting anxious you're not being heard, but damn did you have to be such a dick about it? Especially when (iirc) Dream gave him that order as well, several times, in a similar tone.
Making the entire scenario about him, as Tommy mentioned on the way to the community house. It worked, but that's not as good when you realize it's only gonna stoke that kind of behavior. I don't really know how to talk about this for a couple of reasons though...
Getting the 'discs' burnt, which caused Tommy a great deal of distress. Again, already traumatized and you add this to the pile. Ouch.
TL;DR, I want Wilbur to apologize for putting Tommy through like 5 chained emotional wringers. He can be proud of his plan working (despite it being kinda D:), but just give us an apology for taking away another like 20 years from Tommy's revived lifespan through stress alone.
* I had to rewatch the video to make sure both discs were burnt, in my first go-through I only saw Mellohi and was certain Dream kept Cat. He didn't, but imagine the chaos IF Wilbur thought he burnt both and he didn't. Someone would get screwed over then.

Hi! So I see that youre moving. Recently a whole bunch of opportunities came my way and I’ll be able to move in a year. FL is all I know but I wanna go somewhere new. Any places you’re considering?
Lol, honey… I moved BACK to Florida after 14 months of traveling.
I love Texas. I plan on moving back there with my business when I get my money up.
Housing is way more affordable depending where you are. It’s a big ass state so you will find a city that suits you.
El Paso and McAllen were the most affordable cities to live in IMO.
The downside of living in Texas is depending where you are, you will be living in cities that are mostly white and/or Hispanic.
So if culture and diversity is important to you, you should stick to big cities or cities that were founded by black people.
Houston and Dallas are great cities to live in if you’re black.
