I decided, why not? ^^

I'm limiting this to fics/analysis/headcanon/etc posts I made during the year and skipping over anything that isn't my actual creative work. That said, if you're curious, my actual top post was this funky screenshot from episode 2.

10. Everyone's just fine with Donnie modding the moon buggy? (362 notes)

It occurred to me that despite being MASSIVE nerds for the Jupiter Jim franchise, the bros seemed awfully chill with Donnie taking an actual on-set moon buggy and modding the hell out of it.

A few people argued with me in the notes that the Turtle Tank is so cool no one could possibly be mad about it and I do think that's fair. The Turtle Tank is easily my favorite thing Donnie made in the show.

9. Splinter and Leo talk post movie (443 notes)

non-angsty ROTTMNT separated AU where the boys meet online and bond over their shared love of Jupiter Jim and skateboarding and Lou Jitsu. Then one day they agree to meet irl for the first time at a con and decide to dress as turtle aliens.

This post spawned an adorable fanart by @thatsmutbean , this hilarious fanart by @onionninjasstuff , and an entire fanfic called new phone who dis by @rbtlvr

This has been an incredible year! My love for ROTTMNT has not diminished in the slightest and I still have lots of ideas, so I hope you guys stick with me for 2024. Thanks again! Happy New Year!!

if the 2022 grid were on strictly come dancing

voted out first week: you cannot convince me otherwise that this would be fernando alonso. nothing about that man suggests timing, musicality or performance to me. 

forgettable early departures: latifi, lance stroll and estie bestie. no one votes for latifi cos no one has a clue who he is. lance is too boxy and awkward, and estie falls over his long limbs.

fan favourite who’s just an awful dancer and leaves midway through: seb. the public vote for him cos he’s silly and a little shit but when a good dancer gets voted off (george russell, the ballroom king) and he stays, he’s gone the next week. 

young and actually talented but the public don’t vote for them: guanyu zhou would be a fantastic dancer and you can’t tell me i’m wrong. 

gets to the quarter finals but is the worst of a good bunch: daniel ricciardo. he’d start off average, but would work at it and be half decent by the time he gets voted off. sadly there are dancers who are legitimately better than him. 

voted off in the semi finals and the public are fuming: charles leclerc. he captivated the public when he played the piano live on strictly come dancing before launching into a stunning routine. sadly, his media team run by mattia binotto, didn’t execute their PR strategy well enough and the votes just weren’t there. his fans though? furious. 

runner up: lando norris. hear me out here. DJ lando has rhythm and musicality. with some training i think he could be a genuinely good dancer. he’s not got the raw sex appeal of our winner however. 

winner: lewis hamilton. he has legitimate musicality and his strength means he’d be able to perform the most INSANE lifts that just PULL the votes in. 

honorable mentions: pierre is voted out a week after he’s pictured kissing his dance partner. alex albon does okay and becomes a meme when his mic picks up some odd noises he makes during a dance one week. max is disqualified after the BBC discover he’s been petitioning series executives to make him win.

so, tonight got me thinking, then talking to a friend, and i realized that fic for me has totally been better than therapy in so many ways in dealing with my past trauma from abuse, not to say therapy hasn't helped some, but idk, fic is weird but in a good way, because when you write a character getting emotionally comforted, I think you're also doing a few things you might not realize, or at least i didn't until thinking about it tonight

for instance, the character doing the comforting, the acts of comfort and dialogue, them saying things like "it's not your fault" that isn't coming from some other person outside your head, obviously, but i think it's easy to forget that is coming from somewhere inside you

which means, you are tapping into that part of yourself that knows those things to be true, and so the more that you write those moments--one character comforting the other through their trauma and recovery--the more you allow that quiet part inside you to have a voice, to grow louder and be heard, not just by the character, but by the part of you that doesn't quite believe it yet

so every time you hash things out in stories, having a character say what the other needs to hear, helping them to believe that it's true, then the more you take that on as truth, too, and you start to believe these comforting characters and the things they say, the things coming from inside yourself, and you start to heal too

The Clown Turns out to be Me

Did I buy clown outfits for my baos just for the purpose of making this picture? I mean...that would be ridiculous, right?

The fact of the matter is, this screenshot from Zhehan's Youku interview is entirely apropos in every respect for my Word of Honor merch buying. In this particular case, me saying, dolls? No way! I'm a grown adult. To later saying, alright, maybe the official licensed SHL ones. Then later, well, OK, I'll buy fanmade dolls but only Wenzhou, because I gotta draw the line somewhere and I really need space for the figs. And then later saying, fine, fine, JUST a couple really cute Junzhe dolls. But no baos! And then, well...

You see in the original post the clown shot they have on the screen is not only not cute, but kind of smeary. Now you might say that Zhehan is beautiful enough to offset any clown unpleasantness, which is true. But what's better than one Zhehan?

I was so charmed by these outfits the second I saw them, that I knew I had to have them. They're kind of perfect for merch clowns of all stripes. I originally only bought one, for Hanbao (for the meme!), but when it arrived in the warehouse it was so adorable I had to have a matching one for Cubao.

There's a lot of pieces to this set. Here we have the front...

And the back. Or the top, in the case of the jester cap. Speaking of the cap:

You can see the hat brim folds up to reveal the bear clown face. I wouldn't have minded if it was stitched instead of folded, since I end up getting some of the lining showing when I put the hat on their heads. But, not a big deal.

This is not a Junzhe fan set, it's just a general multi-purpose doll outfit that the Weidian app decided to serve up to my timeline, because apparently they know exactly what I'm about. All clowning aside, that algorithm is no joke!

Here we have our cutie baomodels Cubao and Hanbao, ready to show off this fancy pants set. From the bottoms up, here we go!

We have our cute little clown shoes, that fit actually quite well over their little feet. Snug but not too tight.

Of course the shoes go right off to better illustrate the clothes! They'll be back. The little shirt with the ruffled collar fastens with a velcro strip down the front. You can see it straining there to fasten over Hanbao's little tummy, and over Cubao's round little tush. The shirt was definitely a bit snugger on Hanbao overall I would say, but it does fit!

The little overalls are just so cute! That colorful candy-striped drawstring cord is in fact just that. If these little baos were skinnier (gasp!) you could snug it up tighter, but as it is I let it out quite a bit for their cute little tummies. There was still enough string to tie in a mini bow! I love the colorful little beads.

And here we have the jingle bell bow! The jingle actually works, and accompanied me as I took these pictures. I found it quite charming, actually.

The shoes have made their re-appearance, little pompoms and all.

Their expressions are just perfect for these outfits (she says, cackling madly).

You can also mix up the outfits by swapping out the shirts. Or eliminate the shirt altogether! Lots of options,

The Hanbao/Cubao expressions are just too perfect for these outfits, but since Suansuan is the light of my doll life, I had to dress him in this outfit (sans bow tie, to better show off his adorable little face). He's so cute!
