It is in fact very rude to go onto other people’s posts where only one set of hands is involved to evangalise about two hands. When seeing ship art/fic of only half your ot3, it is proper ettiquete to simply enjoy the art/fic as it is, and if so inspired create/commission/seek out the ot3 content of your choice. This has been your quick internet fandom lesson, thank you for your time.

I think a lot of the reason I've latched on to m/m ships so hard, as a lesbian, is that the fictional worlds that I've been fixated on rarely boast two female characters to rub together, and even less with viable ships that had time together in canon

no ship wars on this blog! You can post propaganda about your fave ship, but tearing down someone else’s ship, or personally attacking/harassing them over it just isn’t cool.

No harassment/bullying in the notes or askbox. Anyone trying that will be blocked.

If you have any ships you want to submit, please do so through the Google docs forum down below, not the ask box or messages. The ask box is only for questions, nice comments about the blog and/or ship propaganda.

Suggestions for More Varied Polyamorous Ship Tournaments

For me, half the fun of fandom-focused brackets is to learn about media that people are passionate about, maybe even ones that you are totally unfamiliar with. While I love Leverage (2008) with all my heart, it has gotten a little repetitive to see Hardison/Parker/Eliot win or place in so many OT3 or polyamory poll tournaments (at least five that I know of—see footnote), when I know there are so many interesting polyamorous ships out there. Since I understand the appeal of the H/P/E OT3 and I know Leverage fans will be dedicated no matter what, I propose that it could be helpful (and fun) to see a wider variety in types of polyamory poll tournaments. After all, there are many different ways that fans might consider a ship to be "best".

Thus I have developed a list of suggestions (thank you @doctorbeverlycrusher and @mary-louise4760 for your assistance here). This includes a mix of aspects that a ship can be ranked as "best" in, and specific ship dynamics. Feel free to ask for clarification or examples of any of the list items, add your own suggestions, and use these as inspiration for poll tournaments. (Some of these might need to be combined/altered to get enough potential contestants.)

Aspects/Dynamics to Rank Polycules By

"Do not separate them.": It is difficult to imagine any relationship within the group without the whole set being involved, whether romantically or queerplatonically. e.g. Many fans say this is why they would favor the Leverage OT3 over other polyamorous ships.

"Please do separate them.": Two or more partners should keep other partners firmly in-between them at all times. Keeping the polycule together is essential to continued civil interaction.

Rejection of canon love triangle/infidelity: Fandom took one look at that plotline and said, "No way. They have two hands." Or whatever the equivalent statement is when one runs out of hands for applicable partners.

Shipping Wars: The best resolution. Fixes many things.

Shipping Wars: The best non-resolution. Fixes nothing, but is good anyway.

Shipping Wars: Worst but technically effective resolution. Fixes the war, but creates new issues.

Shipping Wars: The funniest resolution. May overlap with some of the above three.

In-Universe Wars (or Conflict/Politics): The best resolution. Diplomatic!

In-Universe Wars: The best non-resolution. Undiplomatic!

In-Universe Wars: Worst but technically effective resolution. Diplomatic with respect to this issue, but also creates new ones.

Unexpected package deal: Essentially, the opposite of the identity porn trope where someone has feelings for multiple people that turn out to be a single person.

Seduction plans rapid-pivot: e.g. Sometimes your plans require seducing someone that turns out to be happily in a relationship, so clearly the only choice is to seduce both them and their partner.

Jealousy plot rapid-resolution: Sometimes you think someone will be angry or jealous about you having feelings for or ending up in an encounter with someone they also have feelings for, but they are very much not upset. Maybe even the opposite of upset.

Fake relationship rapid-resolution: Life hack! Turn the fake/arranged partner(s) into additional real partner(s). Often a subset of the above bullet point.

Hands-on instruction: So dedicated to helping their friend with romance/sex that they end up demonstrating. Thoroughly.

Couples (or established polycule) bonding exercise: We can fix them. Or make them worse. Or just seduce them.

Couples (or established polycule) unbonding exercise: Have you ever seen a couple mildly argue about how one of them caught up on a TV show alone when they were supposed to be watching it together? This, but with seduction.

Organization/scheduling proficiency: Have you ever tried to handle finding overlaps between multiple schedules? It's difficult. So I think there should be a competition for polycules that handle that best.

Sneak attack potential: "What's this? It's their third, with the steel chair!"

Heist crew

Band: This one can work for many different sizes of polycules, if you are flexible with the type of music group.

Ship^2: The ship crew. Works for ocean ships, starships, airships, and any other varieties.

Witch coven or assorted magical circle

Supernatural leaders: e.g. vampire colony, fairy council, werewolf pack where the alpha wolf only exists as much as it does in real wolves, etc.

Competition champions: The ideal team. Could be sports. Could be trivia night. Could be that they are just killing it at karaoke.

Competition contestants that somehow make everyone lose

Accidental legal polygamy: They weren't trying to all end up legally intertwined, but untangling that seems more effort than it is worth.

Canon co-parents: A canon plot means a kid has 3+ parents or parental figures. The ship writes itself.

"It takes a village," ("and the village takes each other"): One child (or set of children) takes so much wrangling that the polycule is just efficient.

Most awkward stepparent(s) configuration

Most chaotic potential family gatherings: e.g. In-laws who have to awkwardly try to get along when they hate each other, now with even more in-laws!

Best pet owners: Sometimes joint custody of a pet is a lot of work, and consolidation is ideal.

Using These Suggestions

All are welcome to use these ideas, altered or unaltered, in your own poll tournaments/games. No additional permission is required, though I would appreciate it if you linked this post somewhere on the poll blog, so others can find it. Also, if you let me know you have a tournament along these lines (whether directly inspired by this list or not), I will be happy to give you a shout out in the notes.

Why is Reylo so hated? Is it just a symptom of being a part of the mess that was the sequel trilogy, or what? IDK it's not my favortie ship in the world but I don't mind it either. So the level of hate it gets has never really made sense to me.

Hello everyone! I’ve been having a lot of fun with participating in poll blogs for the last few weeks, and I wanted in on the madness! And silly me decided that this was the best topic for me! Shipping!

I'll add it to my list of fic ideas! Not sure if it'll actually get written though so in case it doesn't here are my hcs:

khalid is not actually dead, he somehow escaped (and i'm not gonna give an explanation when movie canon itself hates logic lol), but now he has saurabh's old face, and reunites with kabir and ruhi post-movie

kabir often has nightmares of khalid's mother condemning him for killing her husband, which is why he looked Like That when seeing khalid talking to his mother. he acts all tough and carefree but he genuinely feels bad for all of the families of the men he's killed

adding on to the above I think kabir had a tough home life, dead mom and military dad which would explain the zeal he has for being involved in (i don't remember exactly what he's in but) special forces, and also why he initially evaluated khalid only on what his dad did

saurabh actually did want to fuck kabir because there's no way he didn't, I don't buy the "he was just acting as khalid would" excuse that man was Horny

adding on he def had a thing for kabir, then got jealous when khalid joined the team because he could see that kabir liked him, and when iliyasi started coming up with a plan to get rid of kabir and his team saurabh came up with the idea of killing khalid and stealing his face

post canon khalid is the carefree parent for ruhi and kabir is the strict parent, but whenever khalid is the one that gets mad kabir and ruhi team up to defeat him with cuteness because they know khalid can never stay mad

not a headcanon but an au I've had is what if instead of transferring the faces, they somehow found a way for saurabh's memories to be in khalid's mind, ismart shankar style? there's a lot more angst potential there (or ot3 potential depending on how you ship it)

Okay so I am very adhd and have like a ton of drafts started for some fanfic ideas and wanted to focus on one to start with, but I wanted to get peoples opinions because I’m also very indecisive! Below the cut I will explain each option I have that I’ve started to help!

Slight Spoiler warnings

Option 1: okay so this idea is inspired by mamuro-chiba-ua ‘s artwork here on tumblr, though I have seen other talk about in on here, but their artwork and Au made me start to wonder how being the uncle to Vivi would effect buggy! This would focus on buggy as he goes about his life and would be a cross guild (crocodile, mihawk, and buggy! )

Option 2: for whatever reason kaveh and Alhaitham give me the swan Princess vibes. So this story would follow kaveh as he is captured by Dori and given to a mysterious man who changes him into a paradisea by day, only allowing him to return to his human form at night to build for him. Can Alhaitham save him or will he be trapped forever ( featuring Tighnari, collei and Layla as the others trapped with Kaveh and also turned into animals, Cyno as Alhaitham friend and Faruzan as the overly annoyed and sarcastic advisor to Alhaitham )

Option 3: so this one could either be gigolas or aralas, both work and I am a multi shipper who loves both options! I could also tweak this and make it a throuple if anyone is interested in that. But basically I was a total band kid and feel like Legolas would be a color guard member. Now if I do Gimli, that boy is definitely a percussionist, and I would say I could see him in the drum line as a bass player. If it’s Aragorn, I am a little more torn on that, I could see Aragorn as either a low brass player or the drum major! Basically a fun marching band AU (specifically based on DCI (drum corps international) which goes to 21 so they would all be over the age of 18!)

Option 4: so I’ll set the stage. Bilbo is the lead in the local theater companies upcoming production of Les Miserables (could totally see him singing who am I, like the voice of the original Jean Val Jean just fits in my head). But oh no, Bilbo’s babysitter ( *cough cough* Gandalf) didn’t show up and now he has to bring baby frodo with him, but he has to practice. So he call Bofur, his friend from college to see if he could come to watch frodo while he’s performing. Bofur agrees easily, but is also currently dealing with a brooding Thorin after a really shitty date and decides to bring him with. Thorin isn’t thrilled, claiming to hate musicals and only like his metal and stuff he can play with the rest of the band, but sees Bofur won’t let it go and agrees to go. He goes right in time to watch Bilbo practice the who am I song and just is like damn. Basically meet cute here and then just follows their life from there with all of life’s up and downs (plus cute little kids with frodo, fili and kili)

Option 5: okay so shanks and buggy give off like such ex energy, and I just love the idea of they got like married real young and got divorced a year or 2 later because they both wanted different things, but they are forced together like 20 years later (either a job, event, taking care of roger who is sick, something like that) and being to fall in love again!

Option 6: so I feel like this is pretty self explanatory. Basically I have begun taking both the hobbit and lotr and putting them into the star wars universe! The hobbit would include ships like bagginshield and lotr would include ships like samfro, Aragorn x Arwen, and gigolas!

I humbly approach with ruminations on Scorch/Ivy/Nettles,, (they've plagued me since the ask game a couple weeks ago,, the ot3 of all time perhaps)

Obviously Scorchstar and Nettlestem stay together I'm Starclan. It isn't...quite right, there's a tense element to their relationship that can't quite pass, but they've been hurt and they need eachother, and over the moons they come back together.

Ivy telling them about being Otterslips mother is sort of where their relationship starts. It isn't quick, but Ivy and Scorch seem to have this...mutual understanding, the ability to forgive themselves for their mistakes when they're around eachother, to talk through their decisions without judgement. Obviously that makes Nettle happy, and she's more than willing to sit by while the two of them talk, and eventually she starts talking too, and before they know it Ivy is slipping into their nest alongside them, a very welcome edition.

All three of them welcome Stormsight, when he appears. It gets rocky, each of them internally warring with everything going on with their son...but ultimately they stay together, as always, and they watch over him together, as always. Even when they were apart, they looked after Otterslip together, and I don't think they would ever stop either.

I like to Imagine it was Nettle who asked Ivy to date them, in the end. I think Scorch, for all her badass old woman-ness, is the sort of person to shy away from that sort of conversation, especially with someone she already values. Anyway Scorched IvyNettles is my fav fallen ship i love them soooo much <3

I haven't seen any "ship a polyship and it'll make shipping wars go away" rhetoric in any fandom I'm in and I've been in fandom for 28 years. When someone says "this character has two hands!" it usually means "I like all three characters involved, so why not?" not "oh-oh, I am morally superior to you non-polyshippers and I think that everyone should ship this polyship!"

I've heard people jokingly say "why not ship both" but like... that's a joke, bro, calm your tits. Never in my life have I met anyone who actually thinks that everyone should be a polyshipper. I've seen a lot of us who think only shipping one thing and attacking people who like anything else is dumb and we should return to the idea of "you can ship more than one pairing per character", but that's it.

People roll up here with the dumbest strawmen imaginable just so they can feel like they have something to be upset about.

The real thing I've seen is the occasional "It's more progressive to ship this m/m/f than that m/m!" harassment. It's not terribly common though. OT3s just aren't that popular outside of a few fandoms like Leverage.

April fools (2023)

So, after careful introspection, I have decided that actually, Stucky doesn't do it for me any more. I have found my new OT3 - Bucky/Rocket/Nebula.

Firstly, the ship name is just better. Just because fate keeps “sticking” them together doesn’t make “Stucky” okay.

On the other hand, BUCKETULA just rolls off the tongue, like a skittish tarantula but more pleasant. I am also rather partial to NEBUROCKY.

Reasons they are my OT3:

Bucky has 1 vowel, Rocket has 2 vowels, Nebula has 3 vowels. The universe aligned for them.

We all love leather-clad tired-of-your-shit feral soldiers, and this ship has THREE

They are born on 3 different planets but have SHARED LIFE EXPERIENCES: Bucky was captured, brainwiped and had his body forcibly modified; Nebula was captured, brainwashed and had her body taken apart and replaced piece by piece; Rocket was captured, enhanced against his wishes and had his body taken apart and implants inserted.’

Reasons they are made for each other: Bucky loves flying vehicles, and both Nebula and Rocket can fly ships! Rocket loves prosthetics and both Bucky and Nebula have prosthetics! Nebula loves using guns, and both Rocket and Bucky carry a lot of guns!

Evidence they already love each other: Bucky and Rocket only met for 5 seconds and they were able to fight back to back like long term partners. Rocket and Nebula only reunited for 5 minutes and were able to overcome their previous enmity and work together. If Bucky and Rocket get along, and Nebula and Rocket get along, it follows that Nebula and Bucky will get along!

Don't forget that Rocket still calls Peter "Quill" years after they met, but already calls Bucky "Bucky". And while Bucky couldn't make it to the Christmas party, he still sent Rocket his favourite gift, an old prosthetic arm, via Nebula <3

Not to mention that after Bucky was Snapped, Rocket was so upset he changed his costume from front panels (left, Infinity War) to side panels like Bucky’s (right, Endgame). Clearly Bucky stole his little gremlin heart after that dance on the battlefields.

It is very clear to me that the three of them went on a space adventure after Bucky came back from the Blip, which is how they got so close. It also explains why Bucky has an empty apartment in New York because what's the point of furnishing your place when your space friends might drop by any minute and take you on a road trip to the next galaxy. Bucky also clearly learned his jailbreaking skills from Rocket, breaking Zemo out by causing a distraction wasn’t much different to the first GotG movie!

These three clearly have a lot of love for each other. James Gunn is just too up his own ass to see it. Stay tuned for more meta and fics coming your way!

Fairweather Friends: Cassian Andor is thrown in an Imperial prison cell with no lights. And a Mandalorian. The 'oh my god they were cellmates' fic.

Defect: Cassian Andor is on an undercover Imperial mission when he meets a mysterious friend known only as "K." A multichap where K2 breaks his own programming, with lots of mistaken identity games.

Feedback Loop: Cassian and K2 shelter from a blizzard after a mission goes wrong, and repairing K2 provokes some unexpected side effects. A PWP with a no-longer canon detail, but worth it if you love huddling for warmth.

ok hear me out

what if 2024 is the year cosmic marvel star wars au lives again except this time i combine it with my au where cassian and jyn met years before the events of rogue one instead (except i'm further changing things in this version) and it's the most niche combination of blorbo nonsense i can concoct

dramatis personae and other bullshit under the cut

(a lot of this is taken from notes i made in 2019, but i'm tweaking this a little bit)

rich rider – a jedi, the only known survivor of order 66/the jedi purge (at least, as far as he can tell). he wasn’t sure about a lot of the politics during the clone wars, and the jedi essentially being turned into soldiers therein, but he tries to keep the values of the order alive as he moves from planet to planet, helping others.

gamora – think the kind of mara jade/emperor’s hand role from the old eu. taken from her home at a young age and raised/trained in secret as palpatine’s assassin. if any of his apprentices are out of line, it is her job to eliminate them, as well as complete any personal assignments that the (now) emperor requests. she hates him, and has been trying to find a way out.

peter quill – a beloved separatist hero during the clone wars, until something happened that he won’t talk about. now, he looks to avoid any affiliation, not joining the fledgling rebel alliance popping up in some corners of the galaxy, but not with the empire, either. gets most of his income working as a smuggler, running spice and other contraband, and seeks to undermine the empire in whatever little steps he can manage.

going with the original rogue one supplementary material backstory of cassian being from fest/a separatist world as a child because that works better for my narrative beats here tbh. also he's been with the fledgling rebellion for.... ever.

my idea for jyn is that her identity was, in fact, sold out to the empire by reece tallent (see: i'm taking a plot point from rebel rising and then i'm twisting it and then ignoring most of the rest of the book). so she has palpatine's assassin after her... and the rebel alliance trying to find her before the assassin does.

so yeah jyn's the inciting incident for the whole thing and our various and sundry parties collide and go on wacky misadventures. mostly i want to watch rich and cassian have a knock down drag out argument over WHO'S GOING TO SACRIFICE THEMSELVES FOR THE OTHERS and everyone else stares at them like they're fucking stupid, which they are

also jyn and peter are preexisting friends in this universe. considering my endgame ships as riderquill and rebelcaptain + gamora ot3. sorry 2 break up starnovamora but this ot3 i literally just invented two seconds ago has so many narrative possibilities i want to explode.
