You know, it's kind of baffling to me when people insist that THEIR Durge would never have so much as liked Gortash, romantically or otherwise.
Even without the new lines, The Prayer for Forgiveness has always been there, proving that, at the very least, The Dark Urge admired Gortash so much that it caused a crisis of faith.
A crisis of faith in Bhaal's own child literally carved from his gore, made specifically to be Bhaal's perfect child.
This has all been said before, but The Dark Urge is an ORIGIN character (and being able to change their appearance makes SENSE, when you consider the propensity of shapeshifters in Bhaalist lore. Literally the form you choose for Durge is just the form Bhaal chose).
Claiming "My Durge would have never liked Gortash" is like saying "My Gale never liked Mystra," or "My Wyll would have never signed a contract with Mizora," or even "My Karlach would have never worked for Gortash."
Maybe your TAV wouldn't have ever done those things, but Origin characters have solidified backstories. Even if your Durge is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT person post-tadpole, the facts of who they were BEFORE the events of the game are as in-game factual as Gale's past relationship with Mystra, Wyll's contract with Mizora, or Lae'zel's upbringing with the Gith.
If you want to headcanon something else for your playthrough, cool, but insisting that events that are CANON cannot be interpreted in a way that you don't enjoy doesn't make sense.

thank you for all the recent jake/tobias posting, it's started me really thinking abt them for the first time! if i can contribute a thought, i'm actually loving the idea of tobias crushing on jake in the first book, and then getting "let down" by him, getting over it, and taking a hard pivot into being critical of him BECAUSE he has that history...i've definitely had the experience of being WAY more critical of people that i had crushes on (and maybe still have a little bit of the remnants of those feelings), because their flaws hurt more bc i used to look up to them so hard, and i'm paying more attention to them to start with, and maybe a little bit of trying to prove to myself that i'm over them...fun dynamic! thanks for planting the seed of this thought!
Yeah, I can definitely see that read! To be honest I like that better than shipping them outright. It fits the characters, and it makes sense with Tobias as a person. I wouldn't write it, but that's a me problem.
TBH Jake/Tobias is on the short list of Animorphs pairings I actively don't ship. For reasons that have less to do with either character, more to do with personal peeves. I get a bee in my bonnet about fandoms fixating on and shipping the only two straight white dudes in a diverse cast of characters. (Teen Wolf and Sterek dominance is the Ur-example, of course. But new Star Wars + Klux or Marvel comics + Stony are clear runners-up.)
So I think if I didn't have mental baggage from those other fandoms, I'd be more able to give Jake/Tobias a fair shake as a ship. But as it is, they give me strong NOPE feelings for reasons that aren't to do with either of them as characters.

genuinely has somebody made a video essay about the phenomenon of queer women enjoying fictional mlm?
sarah z gets close to this topic on multiple occasions. natalie wynn talked about it in her latest tangent and brought up some good points on identification and desire, but i still feel like it could be examined in a larger way. ppl complain about straight women fetishisizing mlm, which does occasionally happen, but in my experience the vast majority of non-dude slash enjoyers are queer women who on some level identify with one or both of the men in the relationship. over and over when people survey fan-centric sites like AO3 and Tumblr, they find that the vast majority of users are queer women.

Men can have vaginas. Women can have penises. Being a lesbian is not about "only liking pussy". Being gay is not about "only liking dick". Those are transphobic and intersex exclusive statements.
The "sex" in "sexuality" is not referring to assigned sex at birth or the most common presentations of assigned sex genitalia. It refers to sexual attraction. Queer sexual attraction is gender and/or shared queer experience based. Gender is not the same as assigned sex at birth or genitalia. If your personal sexual attraction is based on assigned sex at birth and specific genitalia and you use a queer sexuality label you are appropriating that label and participating not only in transphobia and intersex exclusion from queer communities but also in homophobia.
Stop appropriating queer sexualities and then trying to kick out people who actually belong under that label because you want to make a little exclusion based bigot club for yourselves.

Touching grass isn't enough. Y'all need fucking therapy.
That post is what happens when you only live on tumblr and your happiness is contingent on Jensen being secretly bi and in love with Misha.
Y'all really turned Misha being an ally and being their for destiel fans as him being homophobic towards poor bi Jensen?? The mental gymnastics is beyond out of this world.
Like I'm sorry your fave has a known long history of being very weird about destiel and bi Dean. He still hasn't acknowledged or said Cas is queer. While Misha was putting his foot down about queer Cas and destiel, your "poor closeted bi" fave said Cas' confession is open to interpretation and calls them brothers while saying "people will try and sexualize it" regarding Cas and Dean's relationship meaning he doesn't want people sexualizing it(cause queer automatically means sexual in his head). And let's talk about the frat boy gay jokes towards Misha over the years. when Misha first came to spn jensen thought he was strange and made fun of him. Or the bts joke about "where's the gay angel?" Or putting on a fake "gay" voice for Misha at that one jib. That's Y'ALL'S fave. To see people twist what Misha has done over the years for destiel and queer fans into him being homophobic towards Jensen is sad.

sooo glad the “barry is too straight to be gay but too gay to be straight” discourse is starting. finally. really desperately needed the keyboard warriors to save me from this man wearing makeup who’s invading my safe spaces (blood filled bathtubs, grave dirt beds, etc.)
