Authors note: it's been a while and this may or may not be loosely based on a random detailed dream I had the night before last also please know I'm not usually a smut writer and it's been ages so bare with me please

The dim lit bar was roaring with voices as the rush hour for bars came. You regretted letting your friend talk you into coming out. You would much rather be sitting on your couch with a fantasy novel and a cup of lavender tea, but your best friend and roommate was persistent. “See! Lavender vodka cocktails! I told you you could still get lavender tea!” She pulled you by your wrist to the bar. This was one of the many popular bars in New York so you had to squeeze between shoulders to even reach the counter. “You know it's not the same thing, right? It's important for me to know that you know that,” you questioned your friend with a brow raised, she threw her hair over one shoulder and rolled her eyes. Instead of responding she just ordered a lavender vodka lemonade for you and a planters punch for herself.

“Just don't leave me tonight. I didn't feel like coming but if you leave me alone this is the last time,” you sternly state as you wait for your drinks. After people had their orders in, the crowd around the bar became smaller and people were now gathered around tables and leather couches. The bar theme was modern chic. Crystal dim lighting, black leather couches around marble tables. You and your roommate definitely could not afford to drink here, especially on a regular basis, but she insisted that the only way to find a decent man was in high end bars. Not that you were looking.

“It will be fun! Go find a table, I'll wait for the drinks,” she instructed, clearly scouting the crowd. You pushed off of your elbows and looked around for an empty table. It was no surprise when every table and couch were full. You found an empty spot on a wall and leaned up against it.

“This should cheer you up, I got that guy to pay for our drinks,” meg, your roommate and best friend, handed you your glass and nodded towards a blonde man in an army green jacket who was staring in their direction. He had a nice smile and tilted his glass to Meg with a wink. It was painfully obvious that you were going to be left alone at some point tonight. “go for it,” you sighed. She shook her head, her red hair swaying with every turn, “he can wait for it. I need to let the anticipation build. For now, let's talk about your day, drink up and dance.” There wasn't much to dance to as today's rap hits played low level. “my day is never as interesting as yours. I just work at an unknown radio station. You're the celebrity photographer,” you say with a bit of laughter.

“You're just getting your start. Besides I'm just the photographer for BuzzFeed. it's my start too. But okay,” she began talking about the shoot she had just done for the cast of the Dune series. Meg was good about making the biggest celebrities sound like just a group of co-workers. The Dune cast had some of the biggest names in Hollywood but here she was talking about how Batista couldn't stay serious the entire shoot.

You moved on to her plans next week to shoot a rom com cast on Monday when a group walked into the bar and heads were turning from every direction. “meg, isn't thats the Dune cast,” you pointed out the obvious. You tried to keep your composure as Timothee chalamet was your biggest celebrity crush and he was walking in the doors. People brought out there phones and snapped a few pictures with it being a high class bar in New York City, it wasn't a huge deal.

Meg smiled wide and waved at the group. They spotted her and waved back as they began walking towards us. “what up?” Timothee shouted playfully as he hugged Meg. “If we had known you were coming to the same bar when you said you were going out later, we could have just left the office together!” Zendaya laughed giving Meg a one armed hug. Meg pointed to me, “this one needed a Friday night out so I had to stop home anyways.”

Florence smiled, “I needed to change anyways. That was probably one of the most fun shoots I've had for an interview though. Can we buy you girls drinks?” Florence looked to you and put her hand gently on your shoulder, “I'm so sorry, I'm Florence what's your name?” You told the group your name and Zendaya was laughing wrapping her arm around Florence, “yeah Flo she was standing herebthe whole time and we didn't even ask her name. No wonder people think celebrities are rude as hell. I'm Z this is Timothee and Austin.” You waved smiling, “it's nice to meet you all. I promise I'm not the loser I just sounded like I just prefer staying home.” They all nodded. Florence laughed, “I feel that heavily. Alright let's get some drinks at the bar and come back. the waiters here are too busy.”

While the cast walked off to get their drinks, a Waitress brought us two drinks we didn't order, the same ones we had as a first round. “they're from that gentlemen. Don't worry I prepared them and came right back this way,” she winked, obviously referring to how awful the world was. Meg blushed, her blue eyes wandering over to the blonde man from earlier. He was looking adoringly at her, blushing, he smiled and took a drink of his.

The group came back with their assortment of drinks in hand. After a few short minutes of sharing fun memories of the photoshoot earlier, Meg took a step back from your now formed circle, “you have no idea how much I want to stay and chat but I've been working on that,” she motioned to the blonde man, “for the past hour and I think it's time I stop his longing and say hi. You guys are amazing. Glad you're here to keep my bestie entertained, if you want of course okay bye!” She rambled, took a deep breath, and smoothly turned around with a look of curiosity.

“Shes good,” Florence complimented with a smile of approval and admiration. “so, where are you from?” Timothee immediately asked after taking a shit of his dark and smokey. His green eyes were fixed on yours, seemingly genuinely interested as one of his brows was up. You told him, and without hesitation asked another question, “what brings you to the city?” You didn't want to tell him the entire story about how you are a 24 year old divorcee so you just said work. “I wouldnt think someone who looks like you would be doing radio. A face like yours deserves to be seen,” Austin suddenly chimed in, saying the first words he's said all night. You blushed. Anyone would at those words spoken with his deep raspy voice.

You bit the inside of your cheek to stop yourself from showing your blushing. You took a sip of your drink. “Oh come on Austin you started off too strong,” Timothee chuckled. You didn't know what was happening. Zendaya and Florence burst out with laughter before wrapping one arm around each other, “too much testosterone. (Y/n) we will be over here people watching if you find this,” Zendaya used her hand to motion the guys, “disturbing.” Then they walked away. Both guys took a step forward, causing your to take a step back, placing your back against the wall. They were standing in front of you just a ruler length away.

You felt nervous. A tingling sensation overcame your stomach among other places. “do you guys have a bet or something?” You didn't want to fall for it if it was some joke. They were two of the biggest celebrities at this time and they were seemingly coming onto you. Both with girlfriends. “yeah, a bet of who could bring home the most beautiful woman in the room,” Austin stated, looking into your eyes intensely. The bar suddenly felt like a heater was turned up. You held your composure. “You both have girlfriends if the news sources are correct,” you retorted. They shook their heads, “PR” they said simultaneously. They could be lying. It was almost as if they read your mind, contracts between manages about it. Weird they just have it ready but they most likely had to do it often.

You played it cool and finished your drink without saying a word, or tasting it as you chugged it. “I'm going to grab another drink, go check on Meg and go home. You two can decide who is coming with me,” you would never have had the confidence to say the last part without liquid courage. Good thing you were at a bar. You walked between them as if they were saloon doors and tried your best not to look back. You saw Zendaya and Florence applauding and nodding with approval. Zendaya even pumped her fist mouthing “hell yeah.”

You leaned both of your elbows against the bar and flagged down the bartender. You ordered a long island iced tea with a lemon and a lavender garnish. You were going to need all the confidence you could muster up. However you could.

You told the bartender you would be back for it after freshening up. You walked swiftly to the bathroom and looked at yourself in the mirror. You regretted not going for a bit of a glam look but your “clean girl aesthetic” makeup would have to do. You looked to the other woman in the mirror who was fixing her mascara. Your expression must have been easy to read because she smiled big saying, “girl I got you!” The raven haired woman who looked at least 5 inches taller than you, reached into her clutch and pulled out a mini contour kit. “I saw you talking to the cast of Dune? Do you know them?” She questioned. You shook your head, “my best friend, practically sister does.” The woman brushed some highlight powder lightly across your cheeks,” Just enough to make some features pop, you don't want to change too much because it will look like you changed for them since they've already seen you.” she closed the kit, “good luck you are my hero.” She fixed my sweater so that it drapes over one shoulder, taking my academia look up a notch since my flowy long skirt couldn't be helped.

You weren't in the bathroom long because your drink was just being made when you got back to the counter. You took your drink and looked for Meg. Thankfully she was still there, giggling and caressing the mans bicep. She definitely wasn't coming home alone tonight. You walked over and dipped your drink, “I didn't want to interrupt but I'm headed home will you be okay?” You waited for the code word in case of danger, it never came. “I think we might stay out a bit. This is Taron. Taron this is, (y/n). Please stay out with us! You might meet someone!” She was glowing. Whatever this guy was saying to her was the cause of said glow. You smirked, shaking your head, “who said I'm going home alone?” Megs brows raised and she nodded, “okay go ahead.” She hugged you then whispered, “proud of you.” You took a breath and walked back to the guys. They were chuckling but stopped and went back to having swagger or as the kids would call it these days “rizz” which you learned meant charisma.

“Did you decide?” You lifted a brow, finishing your drink. They looked at each other and nodded as if they had some agreement. Austin took a step forward and leaned over to whisper in your ear, his low tone making a shiver to down your spine, “we actually couldn't decide.” Timothee stepped forward, Austin not moving, and leaned over to whisper in your other ear, “so let us both have you. Tonight. Then you will decide which one of us can take you to a dinner tomorrow night.” The last sentence was a demand and it sent your body into a frenzy but you kept your composure. You didn't say anything, you took a step back, put your glass on the counter and kept walking towards the door. You turned around before you got out of ear shot as they were both shrugging off disbelief they were rejected. But they weren't.

“Well? You boys coming or do I have to take care of myself after that?” They both perked up immediately and were practically tripping over their own feet as they said their goodbyes to Z and Flo.

You all stumbled out of the bar. Someone must have alerted the paparazzi and some fans, probably via deuxmoi, because there were cameras flashing outside the bar and you all stopped every few steps for them to take selfies with some fans. Austin finally said to the fans, “sorry guys, we are trying to catch up with an old friend tonight but we will be around tomorrow if we didn't manage to get to you.” we walked swiftly into the nearby metro station, “we are going to our hotel right?” Timmy asked as they managed to keep their heads down going down the steps. “no,” you shook your head, “you don't need to impress me with your 5 star hotels. It's already happening. My place is two blocks away.” They shrugged and followed you to your apartment, keeping their heads down as much as possible.

You reached your two bedroom small apartment quickly and kicked your boots off at the door. They followed suit. “your room, gorgeous?” Austin pointed to the door that had stickers of book titles all over the door. You nod once as he grabs your wrist and leads you slowly to your door timothee following you both and locking your bedroom door behind himself.

Timmy didn't hesitate to move your hair away from your neck and trail kisses down your neck and to your shoulder that was exposed on the one side. Austin gripped your face with his hand gently and kissed you passionately with just the right amount of tongue. Timmys hands went under your sweater, lifting it from your body, breaking your kiss with Austin briefly. When Austin's lips returned to yours his hand was gripping your hair now, you were getting weak in the knees.

Timothee used one ringed finger to trace the outline of your torso and gripped your breasts from under your bra before releasing them using his other hand. Timmy reached his head around you to place a breast in his mouth and push Austin away in one motion. He got down on his knees before you and slowly pulled your skirt and thong off in one go. “Bed. Now,” Austin demanded. He pulled his shirt off and Timmy followed suit. You lay on the bed, your ass aligned with the edge and Austin quickly found his way between them, trailing soft, ticklish kisses down your thighs in a teasing manner. Timmy began unbuttoning his own pants as Austin worked his tongue around your clit. You arched your back and moaned in pleasure with your hand gripping Austin's hair. Timothee got on the bed and kissed you passionately.

“Suck it for me?” Timmy smiled, his bedroom eyes arousing you. You nod and Austin grabs your hips, flips you around and has you in doggy style. He still works his tongue as you place Timothee into your mouth. Timothee groans and Austin inserts himself into you, slowly, teasingly for the first few thrusts. Then hard, causing you to scream in pleasure then slow again.

The two take turns on you, sometimes just watching you with the other but neither interacting with each other minus a few compliments and “damn bro she's loving this” comments. Two men so comfortable with their own sexuality made them even more attractive to you.

When you finished, you realized an hour and a half had passed. Austin lay on your bed staring at the ceiling repeating “wow” and “incredible” timothee pulling his boxers back on. Austin looked like he needed a breath so naturally, “timothee?” You beconed as you stood at your bathroom door naked, “shower with me?” he ripped his shorts off and joined you.

“Decided who you wanted to go to dinner with?” Timmy smirks the next morning, assuming he was the clear winner in his own head. You hadn't decided yet. They both slept on the floor. “leave your numbers on that notebook and I'll call one of you later,” you instructed. The both wrote their numbers down and you all walked out to your kitchen. Meg was sitting there drinking her coffee, which caused you to turn bright red. The guys were blushing too. “‘morning,” timothee blushed and waved to meg. She looked surprisingly well rested and didn't have the blonde with her.

“It was nice seeing you again,” Austin spoke to meg, his cheeks bright red as you moved towards the door. They put their shoes on and you let them out. “you'll actually call right?” Timothee asked with a nervous smile. “I guess you'll see,” you stated before closing the door and joining meg at the counter. “im seeing Taron for a proper date tonight but you…you have some explaining to do,” she stated while pouring your coffee.

raahh i wish i could answer two asks in the same post since i got another ask for this one, but here we are:

ive posted about this au a bit before, though that was less of an in depth explanation as this is going to be lol

so, basically the population of hogwarts are making tons of rumors based on the four of them, stuff about each off of them being involved with each other in one way or another,

here is basically the basis of why these rumors came across:

Barty & James: Theyve been seen leaving parties together and Barty has been seen going to the Marauders dorm room (Barty is actually tutoring James and they will leave parties to walk around and talk because James gets overwhelmed by the noise sometimes)

Evan & Regulus: They are both prefects together and they talk in hushed whispers a lot that people think has tension (They are just close friends and Evan is one of the only people that Regulus doesn't act like he despises talking to, (must be a rosier twin thing))

Barty & Evan: Barty and Evan are almost always seen touching eachother, hand holding, arm around a shoulder, head in laps, etc etc (Barty is a very handsy person and his love language is physical touch, Regulus hates being touched most of the time, but Evan doesn't mind it so Barty usually will cling to him when they're together)

Regulus & James: People suspect something is going on between the two of them because of their sudden friendship & because Regulus always looks very flustered when they talk (Reg & James are partners in their Potions class, (reggie is in the grade above because he's advanced in the subject) and Regulus has no idea how to react to how verbally validating James is and how sweet and kind, so he just goes red and stares at him)

Evan & James: People think they have something going on because Evan is just overly soft and sweet about him, calls him nicknames and pinches his cheeks (Evan does this with all of his friends, but James is just louder & basically the definition of adorable so people notice it more)

Barty & Regulus: They argue all the time but in the way where its incredibly tension filled and Barty will flirt with him all the time and Regulus doesn't punch him so that counts for something (They are just both very bantery and Barty loves making Regulus glare at him when he makes flirty comments)

basically they all find these rumors ridiculous and end up using it for their advantage. Barty comes up with the idea to just confuse the entirety of hogwarts with being fucking impossible,

Barty is doing it mostly to give a huge fuck you to his dad, James thinks this will be the best prank ever, Regulus thinks itd be funny to piss of his brother, and to bring disgrace to his family name, Evan is just...well he's bored so he goes along with it

just picture the hogwarts student body as a huge fandom who have constant ship wars, where the actual people apart of these ships are just laughing at them

but..then the plot twist: they actually start to like eachother,

that starts up the drama because all four of them are like: "this is supposed to be a joke though, this isn't supposed to feel real" and they all think the others think of it as not real, but nope, theyre all gay panicking

plus, bonus points: James didn't even know he liked men before this

oh and, Evan's excuse of him being bored is actually to cover up the fact he's had a crush on basically all three of the them at some point in his life and hes just like: "holy shit this is my time to be y/n"

hey, first off all just wanna say your blog is so cool i love seeing you on my dash!

i was just wondering if you had any tips for first year students and how to manage time? i think that’s the aspect i have been struggling with the most is time management and getting enough sleep rn.

So, how to manage your time:

tbh I haven't understood it that well myself. Personally im a little time blind, so i coordinate my schedule based on tasks i have to do, instead of time.

So instead of: study physics for an hour, it could be something like: understand The Schrödinger equation or study 40 pages.

My only time blocks are: morning, afternoon (before snack time, before dinner) and before going to bed. Which i particularly like since it's more flexible, and if i didn't manage to accomplish everything, i can just move it a bit, instead of ruining the whole thing.

My planner usually looks like this: (it's a bit light, since i had classes all day both monday and today, but you get the idea)

But if you like to study in time blocks, my tip is to give them space to be flexible. So if you delay smth it doesn't ruin your entire schedule, and you won't be so stressed about the time as well.

For example, you think you'll take 1h to do this assignment? Save 1h30 for it, if you end up actually needing this extra time, then you're still in time. If you only needed 1h, you can take a break and move to your next task earlier than planned.

Alarms are a student's best friend for time tracking. And a bonus advantage is that it also forces me not to be on my phone, since i set the alarm in there, and it's a visual reminder that i should be working.

Another important thing to do is to ✨ prioritize✨ your tasks!! Your final exam is way more important than a report that's only 10% your grade. Sure, if you can do both it's perfect, but don't waste too much time perfecting smth that's not that important.

Oh, and if you feel like the way your professor explains isn't doing it for you, just forget about that class! It's a waste of time to be 2 hours in a classroom, not even understanding what the professor is saying and stressing about it. Just find some good notes, and study them in the library during that time instead.

Also, for the not enough sleep problem. I feel you. That was me in the second semester of 1st year. I would lose track of time, sometimes just procrastinating, and forget to sleep. My solution for that is ✨alarms✨. I usually wake up at 7:30, so everyday i have an alarm set for 23:00 to remind myself to go to sleep, and another for 24:00, just in case i ignored the first one lol. Really improved my sleep schedules.

(And a little extra (tho i intend to do a bigger post about this soon)

1st year tips in general: Find ways to be interested in your classes, so it's easier to study. Watch documentaries about it, discuss stuff with ppl that love that subject. Even if you are learning how to solve integrals so you can help your crush - totally not talking from experience. If it get's you motivated, then that's all that matters. DONT BE AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS!!! I promise your professors aren't judging you, and if your classmates are, well, they won't be judging anymore when you ace that test. And force yourself to take breaks. I would put on my t.do list to watch an episode of a series daily, bc i would be so stressed i would forget to do that. And taking breaks it's super important.)

I unblocked nyxxhecate since i first blocked them, out of honest curiosity. right before i'm writing this actually.

I just wanted to see if they've commented anything else since then or if they made posts on their own about their opinions on Daredevil. Three of the links above are their posts, and idk if tumblr notifies for that but I still don't want to @ them.

I'm not interested in debating with them or starting another argument, and couldn't care less of they see this or not. I am not writing to this person like i was in my other posts, nor am i answering to their comments or whatever points they brought up in their reblogs.

I'm gonna be honest here - I DO enjoy typing word salad. I enjoy writing. I enjoy writing essays. I enjoy trying to use exact words to say what i want to say.

English is my second language, technically, yes, but I have been speaking it for more then ten years, and i'm doing my best to improve because i'm hoping that i'll get to work in english some day. My accent isn't perfect but I'm confident in my spelling and writing and everything.

I've been raised in french, I've done primary, middle and high school in french, and my uni is also french-speaking. I write everything in french all of the time. But since i've taught myself to think in english first sometimes, and none of my irl friends or family like Daredevil or Breaking Bad or anything i like in general - I don't get many chances to argue irl.

So yes, I use Tumblr as an outlet to type as much as I want, even if that means talking to a wall, but at least i get to talk about (IN LENGTH) things i love - and open some kind of discussion (although i'm not blind, i know that rarely anyone replies or anything, but that will hopefully come in time)

As I've said in the beginning i am in the middle of s2 of DD, just finished EP6 : Regrets Only to be precise. I've already got a few things to say.

but first : I'll only talk about her in S1 and S2 and Defenders - because believe it or not, as much as I love Daredevil I AM SORRY but I HAVE NOT YET WATCHED SEASON 3. i miraculously haven't been spoiled about much, all I know is that Matt wakes up in church after his "death", boxes there, there's some kind of detective that seems important and he fights with Fisk again in his black outfit. THAT'S ALL I KNOW AND LET'S KEEP IT THAT WAY.

So.

what do i, Onyx LastName, think of Karen's character.

On my first watch, I didn't like her at all.

Not because she was a "hypocrite"or whatever everyone else is spewing but because I had this huge crush on Matt and was jealous of her.

I'll admit, that's all that my judgement was based on. I thought I didn't like her chemistry with Matt, the way that it made the Nelson-Murdock-Page trio awkward, and how it left Foggy on the sidelines. I like him. I related to him. He was suffering of Sidekick syndrome, with Matt getting powers, getting to be the hero, getting all the ladies, etc etc. I spent my whole life and I'm still actually spending it feeling like I have Sidekick Syndrome myself. If you also feel like you got that you'll know what I mean.

"So Foggy has a special place in your heart. Boohoo. what does that have to do with anything?" You've read this far and you're JUST NOW running out of patience??

Since that initial watch, and after watching countless videos, reading countless fanfics, and honestly my taste just having changed - my perspective of Matt shifted, and so has my opinion on Karen.

I don't think i'm blinded by my attration to Matt anymore, even if he still holds a special place in my heart.

But unfortunately, I still have some issues with Karen's character.

I don't think I've ever really talked about it on here, except maybe with a friend or two in dms, but it's true that I don't really like her. Or how was she was written. This post is not structured or outlined, it's a stream of consciousness...so let's hope i get the answer to that by the end of it.

Now i'm nowhere near agreeing with ANY of what nyxxhecate said, but knowing I wanted to have a definitive opinion of her and make a post about it maybe, I've been looking at her closely during my rewatch - and there are some things I've missed.

So, first, to correct my previous post,

Why is Karen attracted to Matt in the first place?

I made my post about the Foggy and Karen thing before rewatching and refreshing my memory of the ACTUAL EVENTS. I just wrote that in passing after seeing a reaction of that "date" at Mrs. Cardenas.

Here is an updated take :

I think Karen fell for Matt when she first lied to him about keeping the Union Allied file.

You just lived through an intense traumatic experience. You find yourself with a bloody knife in your hand next to the lifeless body of someone you knew and found really nice. Someone tries to hang you in your prison cell at night to make it look like you killed yourself, and no one believes you.

until Nelson and Murdock come in. You're not sure about their intentions at first but they seem kind and most importantly they believe you and are willing to defend you. They're giving you a chance. Not good samaritans but literal guardian angels.

While Foggy is hesitant at first, Matt "I believe you Miss Page"s you right off the bat. (everything's a verb if you squint hard enough)

Matt invites you to his place and assures he'll protect you.

Matt opens up about his blindness and is willing to be vulnerable in front of you.

Matt gives up his silk-sheeted bed to make sure you're comfortable.

All of that when you're vulnerable and Matt is tall and handsome and has this charming smile and ugh. How not to fall for him ? I mean you're wearing his shirt and the beautiful pink lighting in his living room is making everything all romantic. Also if you've noticed the billboard outside his window is for "Xining Airways", company that uses CHERRY BLOSSOM imagery in their advertisement. COME ON.

But then you get to talking about the case again - I mean the reason you're here in the first place - and he asks you an important question.

Did you keep the file?

You lie and say you didn't, feeling your heart beating faster. You're not even sure that sounded convincing at all. And you see the cogs turning in his head, and even if he let you off the hook, you know deep down he didn't really believe it. May seem like me extrapolating here but it IS obvious that he doesn't believe her. But as long as he's not pushing further, that doesn't change much for Karen anyway.

I think that his expression reads that he's seeing right through her.

He believed her when no one else would the first time - but seemingly for no reason.

Matt just KNEW you didn't do it. He saw right through you. You almost feel like he knows what you're thinking.

And again, that kind of connection that you're feeling, in an especially emotionally vulnerable state - plants the seed for love. EASILY.

Any of their awkward flirting before they started dating i am willing to close an eye on.

AFTER THAT? that's just cruel to Foggy and unprofessional and weird in general. Why the HELL are you holding hands in front of whatever DA or cop you just talked to to walk in Frank's hospital room?

Why are you kissing in front of Foggy???

I can understand the thing at Josie's but when you're in the middle of dealing with an extremely important case and Elektra's driver shows up out of nowhere and you're abandoning your partner in a situation that you created and ugh. ew. It's all so weird.

I don't like Karen and Matt dating any more than I did on the first watch but I don't see it through jealousy-tinted glasses and more for what it actually is. misplaced.

Season 2 is the least favorite Daredevil season of anyone I've ever met or talked to and I completely agree that the structure is strange, even if I get what they wanted to do with juxtaposing

Daredevil/Elektra/Hand stuff

and

Matt/Karen/Punisher stuff.

This juxtaposition, while I kinda get the vision, just isn't working. The Hand is the worst plot I have ever seen in my life, and that applies to Defenders too, so that's one reason, but the fact that they tried to mix everything together at once just felt weird pacing wise - and they lost characterization on Matt, Foggy and Elektra's part. All three and their relationships with each other were written weird.

Let's get back on track.

Season 2, Karen spends her time investigating and defending Frank.

And that is what she's most criticized for : "protecting and defending frank's actions" and "condemning Matt's lying when she's lying herself."

Frank Castle is a difficult subject.

He is the subject of many debates, wether in the fandom or in the actual show. Is he a hero? Are his murders justifiable? Are Matt and Frank two sides of the same coin? What message is he sending to the audience? How should he be interpreted by his audience? Is Frank redeemable? Is he a glorification or a fetishization of everything that's wrong with the USA? and so on so forth bla bla bla

What matters HERE is what KAREN thinks of him.

Karen is a very determined and ambitious journalist, to say the least. She'd do anything to get to the truth. These qualities that seem very noble at first are also her main flaws. By putting the story first, she throws caution the wind and that very recklessness of hers is what kills Ben Urich, and what compels her to defend Frank so adamantly.

But there's a facet of her personality that I haven't seen being delved into or explained anywhere - her sometimes misplaced but very much there Savior complex, or White Knight syndrome.

She empathized and honestly liked Mrs. Cardenas (a cute old little guatemalan christian lady, who had no one). She wanted to help her. She felt that she was treated unfairly, that all the tenants were treated unfairly, and that was what prompted her to want to take down Fisk. Fisk was using, manipulating and stealing blind people who were already unfortunate. Fisk is lying to the public and hiding his true criminal activities. Savior Complex is activated, now Karen has to find a way to bring him down, even if that means putting her nose where it doesn't belong and provoking the death of Ben Urich.

Now let's look at the situation in S2.

She empathizes with Frank Castle (a man who's entire family got killed and now has no one). He has some kind of moral code that seems noble to her. She feels that he's being treated unfairly, that no one is taking his dead family into account, or what he's already done as a soldier. Frank is unapologetically admitting and sticking by his actions and his code. He doesn't want to hurt anyone that doesn't deserve, in his eyes, to die. Reyes is not upholding her side of the wit-pro deal (She used Grotto as bait, someone Karen already empathized with). Reyes was purposefully trying to get Frank the death penalty for her own gain (she had her eye on the mayor's office) and is hiding a shady past. Savior Complex is activated, now Karen has to find a way to prove that Frank's not all bad and to expose Reyes, even if that means putting her nose where it doesn't belong and overstepping boundaries when she's not a lawyer, and frankly doesn't deserve to get Ben's desk or his job.

When you finally pin down her behavioral pattern and why she acts how she acts, it's easier to understand.

So yes, I understand Karen. (In my opinion at least.)

What makes her who she is is that savior complex of hers, that MORAL code of her own. How she sees herself and what she thinks is her PURPOSE is how she justifies her mistakes, or the risks she takes, to herself. As means to an end.

She doesn't seem to doubt herself or question herself enough to see that her behavior, even if her goal is noble, is not always right.

Her believing that she acts as a savior to others is precisely what makes her a little self-centered.

And, because Matt has this problem too sometimes, she is an interesting character to compare to him.

But now, see, as i've spend a lot of time writing this, my own cogs are turning. I think I've identified what my problem is with Karen.

It's how she's framed. by the writers. by the show.

We see Matt's guilt but don't see hers.

We see his internal turmoil but not hers.

We see him doubt himself all the time and seek for answers in his faith or in people but not her.

If we got to see Karen doubt herself more, show more of her guilt over her killing Wesley, her causing the death of Urich, that would make for a much more likeable and relateable character.

When she argues with Matt or something, what she says makes it seems "hypocritical" of her not to hold herself to the same moral standards than she does others.

But I don't think seeing the flaws in others means you don't see your own. Again, if we had seen Karen questioning and doubting herself, and feeling guilty for what she's done (and not just crying or having ONE nightmare about it. Her trauma should have been more explored in general. from the beginning.) then we'd see that she is self-aware and recognizes her own mistakes and her continuing to feed into her savior complex is her way of finding closure. or trying to save herself from being completely consumed by her own guilt.

So yes. I don't like Karen, not because I don't like her, but be..cause...I wish... we'd seen more of her? or at least framed her differently?

I didn't think I'd reach that conclusion. I thought I'd actually find a real reason not to like HER.

But that's maïeutique for you i guess. or to put it differently, rubber-ducking, right? Isn't that programming lingo?

Also maybe i'm not completely over how Matt and Karen third-wheeled Foggy. or how Matt doesn't really fit with any of his on-screen love interests and how I wish they hadn't dated. but that's a story for another day.

Ok, I have an important question - would any of your OCs want to start a romance with Aeran? Like, before the drama. If yes/no - why? Me curious 👀

Ding ding dong, we have a winner! Congrats to @bluekaddis for sending the most difficult question so far!

I tried to keep it as spoiler-free as I can for the benefit of Loes and Sierra who may be lurking, but I still recommend not reading anything below the cut, if you haven't finished Ep 2 of Wayfarer.

Okay, to sort things out - a bonus question "Which Wayfarer master would my OCs get?"

Based on that we can already exclude Emerald Aeducan and Corina Brianta from the dating pool. While I'm not judging any Varyn apprentices who fell for Aeran, to Emerald Aeran would have the same appeal as Gorim, which is to say, none at all, and Corina Brianta, much like her Wayfarer counterpant, would see Aeran strictly as a brother.

Kallista Tabris is excluded from the competition on the grounds of being a lesbian, obviously.

That leaves us Siri, Jul, Bogusia and Malve.

You know too well that I genuinely have no idea how to get along with Aeran. My only experience is with Corinne Varyn and goodness knows that Corinne cannot stay in Aeran's good graces for longer than 5 minutes. It's a constant hit-or-miss with him. Therefore, I genuinely don't know whether I - and by extension any of my characters - am capable of romancing Aeran.

HOWEVER, I can always speculate!

I feel that Siri could possibly be Aeran's closest friend out of all my characters - both as children and as adults. Their energies just seem to match. As children, they would be wild and carefree, as adults, they would be clearly Trying Their Best but also Burdened with Their Pasts. Whatever Aeran's deal, there's a chance that Siri's done something worse… so Siri Gets Him, they wouldn't pry, no matter their former closeness. I also could actually see Siri seeing the deeper reason for him lashing out in Ep2 and being the bigger person, and pushing for a reconcilation with him in Ep3 or maybe even earlier. Siri is generally very chill, it's not easy to push their buttons, and in Kotor 2 I'd say that they spend a lot of time listening to podcasts about psychology while tinkering, so if anyone could reconcile with Aeran without triggering a couple of red flags within me, it would be them. However, I just can't see Aeran and Siri as a romantic match. They strike me as ~platonic buddies~ only. It doesn't help that teenage's Siri crush was a cool guy a couple years their senior so generally quite a difference from a fellow classmate Aeran.

As for Juliander, we both know that he's a human magnet for familial connections and based on that, I'm pretty sure that Aeran is bound to become an instant brother figure to him. It doesn't help that Aeran's master is Varyn and Juliander's master is Cenric, and they're kind of together (on and off) so it's pretty much a family already (or at least they would be in Juliander's eyes - again, no judgement to any Cenric apprentices who fall for Aeran). I just can't see Juliander being attracted to Aeran romantically... which is a good thing because their relationship would be complicated enough already. I feel that Juliander would be quite hurt by Aeran's commitment to secrecy. While he's pretty much the most understanding and not-noisy person you can meet, he believes that relationships should be equal, with both sides showing vulnerability and being honest with each other, and it would hurt him how, despite all these moments where their relationship is almost the same as in the older days, there's this huge chasm between them and apparently Aeran isn't as... serious or committed to this relationship as Juliander is? At least that's roughly the way I understand him.

Bogumiła is just the funniest person to come with his question because she seems to match Aeran's type too well. She's fallen both for her childhood friend (Zori) and her adolescence friend (Red). In the very brief (scrapped) worldstate where Caine survived and she didn't spend Ch1 very mopey because of it, she's got a bit of crush on Trouble who, newsflash, was her first friend in the Shepherds. Her trend of falling for her first friends wherever is just too well established. She'll pine for you wordlessly, but since you're her friend, if you don't pick up on that AND you aren't receptive to that, she won't ~ruin your friendship~ (or embarrass herself for someone who'll obviously turn her down) by confessing. If she fell for you deep enough, her feelings will survive a decade apart and start flourishing wildly with every second you spend together from then on. She's 100% the type to confess her feelings to you during a shouting match after you get yourself seriously injured or otherwise push her buttons in a very specific way. If there's this one character of mine that statistically wouldn't have "Eww, platonic only" feelings towards Aeran, let's face it, it would be Bogumiła. It doesn't help that kid!Aeran just... seems like somebody that she could crush on. He's nice, he reminds me of Zori a little and Bogumiła responds well to braver, more adventurous types who'll push her out of her comfort zone. Obviously you can nitpick that Bogumiła's type skews towards kindness and nerdery, and not only Aeran is NOT much of a nerd, but also his dramatic backstory most likely goes back to his childhood, but I feel that the odds speak for themselves and she would fall for him anyway.

~Spoilers commence, please skip this bit if you haven't played Ep2~

Since she's a bit of a caretaking type, she would do her best to be understanding and considerate of Aeran's trauma, even though it was hurting her how he's been constantly pushing her away. However, if she got injured in late Ep1 and Aeran ended up confessing his feelings to her on the ship, only to keep ignoring the topic throughout the voyage... oof, it would sting. Again, Bogumiła would try to be understanding - he's got his baggage, he doesn't feel ready to start a relationship, he confessed to her only in the heat of the moment... but gosh, haven't they been having plenty... not-so-platonic moments together already? Why can't they just seal the deal and get properly together with her?! He's not ~choosing~ to fall in love with her, he's in love with her already, the choice is only to let himself act on his feelings! And then all the hot-and-cold moments throughout Ep2... they would definetely mess with her. I think that she would be able to connect the dots, see that Velantis has a bad impact on him, but still... she would feel bad for being seemingly left hanging after his confession (that's the moment where, ideally, they should be sharing a kiss by the sunset! enter a romantic relationship together!). She would try to push all the romantic drama away and be a supportive friend to him, though. Aeran's words during their fallout in Ep2 would hurt her badly. While he would be true in that she was depending on him a little too much (or at least Bogusia and I can both see his reasoning here), him calling her a pathetic Wayfarer who always needs to be rescued? That would be UNCALLED FOR. Saying that he regrets reuniting with her, that he regrets his confession? Well, personally I would call it unforgivable, though other people's mileage here may vary. While I don't think that Bogusia would be the type to end a relationship in the heat of the moment (starting-changing it, preferably with a makeout session, is fine, ending it... generally requires a calmer head, in her opinion), she WOULD storm off. She would hate being a nervous wreck at the gala - she's not the subtlest when it comes to masking her emotions and she doesn't need to be Varyn to know not to trust anyone there (which would only make the anger at Aeran leaving her like that stronger) - but she absolutely wouldn't return to their room quickly. Thankfully, she would find some solace with Melchior. While I don't think that she would sleep with him, he would give her a safe space to be mopey in and there are other questionable choices that you can make during an afterparty... like not sleeping well because you're tormented by the direction in which your life is going. She would spend early Ch3 giving Aeran a cold shoulder (an even colder one if, having heard that she attended Melchior's party, wanted to know whether she cheated on him... "Maybe I should have", she would tell him coldly, feeling a bit angry at herself for not having done just that, for not being the kind of person to do something like that), somewhat revelling in his asking for forgiveness OR very aloof if he ignores the matter and doesn't even go for a single sorry. If he doesn't try to apologize, their relationship is done for and it's non-negotiable. If he does apologize, then, whatever he says, Bogumiła can't forgive him just yet. If he wants to keep her in his life, despite believing her to be such a burden, he needs to work for it.

As for Malve... neither I, nor Malve have the faintest idea. While they fell for Oisein who was also their friend, they don't know what specifically made them fall for them. They're very new to the concept of romantic or sexual feelings, they have never experienced them before. However, they're very curious about this newfound aspect of themselves. They want to know the answer and they would be willing to try! Thank you, Malve, your commitment to science is truly impressive. I guess I have a new Wayfarer MC now?

Book Review

Book Title: Descendants of the Earth by Noa Brooks

Rating: 4/5 stars

Initial Thoughts: This book was a real call back to my middle school days. It really brought back the good ol' quest adventure with a bunch of teenagers. I really liked how this became something that was more adult than teen. It felt like a new series that will definitely feel like a more mature and aged up group of people. I am honestly super excited to see where this story goes and I am excited that I will be able to look forward to the next book.

There will be spoilers below the line

This book had a lot of characters and all of them were able to make me laugh and smile.

I loved all the representation that was in this book. We have established queer relationships, via the gay camp councilors. We have budding relationships, Margot + Logan. And we have Ace/Aro representation, at least as far as I can tell, which means we might end up with a queer platonic relationship in future books. Cam, Owen's best friend is romantically crushing on Owen. But Owen states that he doesn't really feel that way towards anyone, and Cam - being the gentleman that he is- respects that.

Honestly I love all the characters, because it doesn't focus solely on one person, even though Owen is the main character. I liked being able to jump into the heads of Margot, Logan and Cam as well as a few other characters as well. This did slow down my reading a bit, but overall it was nice to get the various perspectives on each of the characters especially when there were characters who knew more than Owen.

I have to admit that I think Cam might be my favorite camper. He is just so wholesome and wants to be seen and loved for who he is. I also felt so bad for him because he was pretty consistently the one who was injured or pushed to the side because earth elementals, while being powerful, aren't necessarily the most powerful elemental balancers out there. He also reminds me a bit of Toph Beifong from Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Margot is a close second because she reminds me of myself. She gives off Annabeth Chase and Hermonie Granger vibes with her constant studying. I doubt that I would be a fire elemental though, if I could take a stab at what I would be. I am not quite sure what qualifies people to be in certain elemental groups, but I also really like that fact. It isn't as easy as just being sorted on personality or who a person's parents are, rather grouping kids together based on what elements that they can wield the best. It is a fresh take on the "everyone has powers" trope which is a refreshing way of saying that sometimes the things that make us powerful are best left up to chance.

A lot of the themes in this book feel really relevant to today's modern social climate. There is a lot of discussion about what really happens when someone doesn't get something based off of the work they put in. There is also a huge theme of admitting to mistakes that were made out of desperation and then committing to do better after the character apologizes. This allows for a lot of character growth from both parties. Forgiveness and atonement are some of the hardest things to do but Brooks did a really good job on giving the reader some tools and tricks into how to process these difficult feelings a bit better.

Of course with the magic wielders being called balancers, the book talks a lot about balancing and harmony. It reminded me a lot of the philosophy of yin and yang, in the sense that I believe there are lines that talk about the fact that good can't exist with out some bad, just as bad can't exist without some good. This topic while being explored a lot in fiction seems to really hit home in Brooks' book as it really explores the complex meanings of what it means to truly balance the light and the dark and not assume things that are out of the character's (and partly the reader's) control.

Overall I really liked this story and I am excited to see where the next adventure leads!

I realize I haven't put my Felix's backstory up, so here's a good time to do that:

The Culpa family actually has no bloodline relation to the Agreste name brand at all - rather, its a textile company that creates the best fabrics and patterns for the discerning eye on the fashion market.

Felix's mother was a really good friend of Emilie, and they would often make a lot of brand deals together based on friendship rather than legalities, because of course who was gonna split up two powerhouse besties? not their husbands! that's playing with fire babey!

When Emilie went missing, Mrs. Culpa was CRUSHED. She was one of the loudest voices in attempting to find her, and was flabbergasted as to why Gabriel wasn't in on the search efforts, instead just boarding himself up in his house, mourning like she was already dead. How could he know something like that if she just went missing, why is he acting like his wife is no longer in the picture if she's just missing?

Gabriel, in his colder line of thinking, began taking advantage of the Culpa company's kindness and dragging them into deals without their consent, riding on the coattails of Emilie's friendship. This did not go over well, because the Culpa family isn't made up of pushovers, and they were hurting just as much about Emilie's disappearance.

This led to a lot of... legal talk, and Gabriel being stripped of a lot of assets. He had to lean on Adrien's looks to get a lot of his repeat customers back after the fiasco that was 'the Agreste brand loses their best deal with the strongest Textile company in this hemisphere, sorry about the shit quality of your clothes now."

When the Culpa's found out Gabriel was taking this out on Adrien - because of course he is, who locks a boy in a tower with a bunch of crap like they're an easily soothed pet? - they offered an olive branch. Felix was interested in some classes in France, and he wanted to get a flavor for the area, since he's also big on fashion. If Gabriel hosts Felix (who'll act as eyes and ears for his parents on picking up clues as to what happened to Emilie) then they'll release some of their assets back to him. That shouldn't be hard for a man made of money, and especially not for Emilie's HUSBAND, and this way Felix can help out the young heir for the Agreste company, steer him away from being a total shit like his dad and give him a little bit of support at home.

That would be huge for the company if Gabriel can pull it off, not to mention Nathalie is buzzing in his ear constantly about the kind of funds they're losing looking for better quality fabrics among third party dealers. He just has to deal with what he assumed to be another Adrien in his house, and that should be easy enough, teenage boys are distractible.

Instead, he gets Felix Culpa, who was raised by his hawkish parents in the art of 'don't let anyone take advantage of your kindness, and shower your allies in it when you know they're worth it,' who is dealing with absolutely zero of Gabriel's nonsense but also has to live under his roof. (He really did promise his parents he'd find out what happened to 'auntie' Emilie.)

This is frustrating for both parties, one because Gabriel DOES have permission to ground Felix or whatever, he is the adult overseer, but the moment Felix decides he's being a total jackass, he gets to pull the plug on this textile deal, and GOD if Audrey finds out he fucked up another deal she'll yell at him till his ears fall off

in a nutshell, if Gabriel wants his company to not go under bc his ass is busy playing supervillain, he has to play the part of host for a teenager that thinks Gabriel was involved in Emilie's disappearance.

the snow at hogwarts was always your favorite. the piles of white glittery fluff laying on the castle grounds never failed to amaze you, and this year, it was more beautiful than ever. you didn't know why that was, but the ginger standing next to you sure added to the scenery.

"isn't it lovely?" you said to him, your vouce dripping in awe. "i never want to look away!"

"yes it's quite beautiful y/n, but can't you admire it from your dorm window? i'm freezing my arse off out here!" fred replied with his hands tucked far into his coat pockets.

"you can go in, you know, i'm fine here," you said reassuringly.

he scoffed. "you really think i'm gonna leave you out here in the cold? by yourself? are you nuts?" he looked fake-shocked. "that would not be a very friendly thing to do, y/n, and i am a great friend, you know," he says matter-of-factly.

"you're an idiot, fred weasley," you said, attempting to hide the bitterness that struck your heart when he said "friend." you had been in love with the boy since your first year at hogwarts, when you were introduced by his younger brother, ron, whom you had become friends with on the train ride over. fred, however, seemed to be oblivious. he never was one for smarts, though. all this to say, you relictantly went inside, not without your counterpart receiving a soft punch to the arm, which resulted in a string of not-so-nice words.

with the snow came the yule ball. every year you were too nervous to ask fred, and every year, he went with another girl. this year, though, you were determined to get him first. you had a plan this time around, and you had decided that, if it didn't work, you were cursed. you were going to ask him at lunch today, which just so happened to be after this period, potions. you had told your best friend, hermione, about your plan, and she was adamant to help you, but you wanted to do it on your own. reluctantly, she obliged.

this period seemed to take at least ten times longer than usual. you couldn't help but wiggle your quill in anticipation, waiting to be dismissed. then, something broke your focus.

"angelina!" fred had whispered. once she looked over he mouthed: "want to go to the yule ball with me?" your heart dropped. again? seriously? you hoped for a no.

she nodded and said "sure!" and you nearly crushed your quill in anger. hermione looked over at you with wide eyes. fred shot a huge cheeky wink at ron, they probably had a bet or something, you guessed. but it didn't matter. his smile only made your eyes well up with tears. you blinked them away and continued working on your assignment, albeit more aggressively than before.

you were silent at lunch, and everyone noticed, just your luck they paid attention today. you chose to play with your food, rather than eating it, and you were completely out of it.

"y/n," ron chimed, "did you hear me?"

"what? d'you say somethin'?" you mumbled.

"yeah, i asked if you were gonna eat that," he said, gesturing to your still-full plate. you silently nudged it over to him and went back to your previous activity of staring at the wall.

after lunch, you had a free period, which you chose to spend on the bridge outside, admiring the snow to distract yourself.

"hey," hermione said.

"jesus 'mione, you nearly made me piss m'self!" you said with your hand over your chest.

she laughed. "sorry, sorry, didn't mean to startle you. i just wanted to check on you. are you okay?"

"sure, yeah, i'm fine," you sarcastically replied. "the boy i've been in love with for 5 years just asked out yet another girl and i'm totally, one-hundred percent okay with it!" you said with a fake smile that you quickly dropped into a frown.

"yeeaahh," she said. "i figured."

the next week seemed to pass slower than ever. you just wanted to get to the ball and get it over with, but the universe seemed to have it out for you.

you had a beautiful dress picked out, and, a week ago, you were thrilled to wear it, but now? you were dreading having to dress up at all. you had even considered ditching altogether, but hermione wasn't going to allow that.

"you're going, y/n, now get that dress on! i'll even do your makeup for you! go ooooonnn!" she insisted, slightly shoving you toward your wardrobe.

you sighed. "fine, i'll go, but i'm going to complain the whole time," you said with an eye roll.

"yes i am perfectly aware of that, now get dressed!"

an hour later, your hair was curled, your makeup done, and you were completely dressed to the nines. you had a silvery high-low dress that was adorned with small white gemstones on the boddess and neckline.

hermione's face seemed to glow with happiness. "you look absolutely STUNNING, y/n!" she hugged you tight and led you to the floor-length mirror in your room.

although you felt miserable, you did look quite pretty. pretty enough to make you grin a little. "seeeeee you're gorgeous!" hermione said. "now let's go, you'll totally make him lose it!"

you doubted that, but she pulled on your arm, leaving you no choice but to attend the ball.

your evening was quite shit to say the least. you spent it standing next to hermione swaying awkwardly to whatever song was playing, all the while sipping on some butterbeer to keep your hands busy. you kept glaring at fred and angelina, who had found their way to the dance floor.

"quit staring, y/n, you'll only make it worse for yourself," hermione said, giving you a knowing look.

you sipped your drink, still glaring. "why does she get him? i'm in love with him, shes just heartbroken. you know what i do when i'm heartbroken? eat cake. why can't she just eat cake and give me the pretty ginger boy?" you said bitterly.

hermione laughed. "he'll get it some day, y/n, just not today."

"it's never today," you said sharply, taking another drink. they looked like they were having such a good time, and you hated it. you should have been used to it by now, every year you had to see it, but this year felt worse. you had been so eager to ask him, but no, never you.

you decided you'd had enough of the so-called fun for the evening. you sat your cup down and promptly stormed out of the ballroom.

you decided to go to the bridge again to watch the snowfall. it really was beautiful, but you cursed it silently for remaining that way. you just wanted him to see you like he sees the snow. you wanted to make him feel as good as a good prank does. you wanted him.

"hey," you felt a hand on your shoulder, which prompted you to jump and curse.

"fuck! fred what the hell!" you pulled away from him and leaned on the bridge once more.

"sorry, figured i'd find you here. what happened? i saw you leave earlier. do i need to kill someone?" he said, genuinely concerned.

you laughed st the irony of his last comment. "don't worry about it, i'm fine," you said bitterly.

"y/n, come on, i've known you 5 years now, you're not getting off that easy."

"seriously, just leave it," you said with a warning tone.

"i'm not leaving till you telll mee," he said in a sing-songy voice.

you snapped. "why her?" you shouted, sharply turning to face him. "why her of all people? why not me, fred? what's she got that i haven't? can't you see i'm bloody in love with you? i've been standing here all this time and yet you never fail to snog everyone else but me."

he was dumbfounded. he just stared at with his mouth open. you waited for a response, but all you got was a stuttered, "y/n i-."

you scoffed and smiled up at the sky sarcastically. "whatever, fuck it, fred. forget i ever said anything at all." you turned around and made your way back to the castle. before you even made it half way down the bridge, you sobbed.

two days had passed since the yule ball, and you looked terrible. you hadn't slept but two or three hours since then, your eyes were dark and surrounded with purple. your hair was messy, and, honestly, you just looked miserable, and you were. you hadn't talked to hardly anyone, and your friends were all worried.

"seriously, hermione, what's her deal?" ron had asked after passing you in the hall.

"she told fred," she whispered.

"oh no, it didn't go well, then?" he replied.

"obviously not, you git," harry said, shoving his friend on the arm.

"you've got to say something to him, ronald. she's extremely depressed!" hermione suggested sternly.

"right, and what am i supposed to say? 'hey fred y/n's in love with you, what are you gonna do about that?'" he asked.

"yes! exactly that!" she replied.

"alright, geez," ron said. "i'll talk to him."

"hey fred," ron said timidly.

"hello, little brother!" he replied, unexpectedly chipper.

"what's wrong with y/n," ron asked, pretending to not know. "you haven't talked to her, have you?"

his smile faltered. "she told you, didn't she?" he asked.

"well, not exactly. she told hermione, who told me to talk to you," ron explained.

"ah, i see," said fred. "well i'm not really sure what to do about it all. i mean, she was so angry! and loud! merlin was she loud."

"well, do you like her?" ron asked.

"well i love her. of course i love her, she's my best friend. but, to be honest, i don't know how to feel," fred replied. "i don't know if i just love her, or if i'm in love with her, or what."

"well, uh," ron tried to think of something to help. "how do you feel when you see her?"

"happy," he said. "anytime she comes around i get so giddy i can't help but laugh." he started to smile. " i get lost in her eyes, her laugh is contagious!" he looked at ron, who raised his eyebrows and gave him a knowing look.

"oh my god i'm in love with her!" fred realized.

ron nodded, "yep. you shou-"

fred cut him off "i should go tell her!" he ran for the door to go confess and apologize to his best friend.

"y/n! y/n! i've got to talk to you!" fred yelled as he ran in your direction. you were, once again, sitting on the bridge, coincidentally where you two had last spoken two days ago.

you stood up and pretended not to hear him. you didn't want to talk to him, especially not about the events that occured two nights ago. you heard him call for you again, and picked up your pace. you had begun to jog when he grabbed your arm and spun you around to face him.

"hey, fred, didn't see you there!" you laughed awkwardly, your eyes on the ground.

"y/n, can we please talk about it?" he asked, his eyes down on yours.

"what do you want to talk about? if you're just going to say 'i love you, but' or 'we're better amoff as friends', you can just turn and go back the way you came," you said plainly.

"i'm in love with you y/n. i didn't realize it before, and i was just shocked when you told me then, you were very loud," he laughed. "but really, y/n, i am in love with you, and i'm so sorry i upset you. your silent treatment was just awful, honestly. couldn't you have just hit me or something? it would have hurt less!"

you tried not to smile, but his was so beautiful, you had to. "you mean it, freddie? you're in love with me? this isn't another prank is it? if it is so help me god, weasley, i'll hex your nuts off," you said, pointing your wand at his chin and glaring.

"ah! no, no, i'm being serious!" he said in fake-shock.

"okay, then," you said, laughing. you put your wand back in your pocket and looked up at him.

after a moment of silence, he simply asked: "can i kiss you now?"

"you're an idiot, fred weasley," you replied.

he pulled you into a passionate, yet, sort of awkward kiss, and you melted. you had been waiting 5 years for this, and it was everything you could have ever imagined. you wrapped your hands around his neck and smiled.

"so they made up, then?" harry asked with a smile.

"i guess so, whatever you said must have worked, ronald," hermione praised. "well done."

ron fist-pumped into the air out of pride, and high-fived harry, all three laughing.

you looked over your shoulder to see all of them cheering. your face turned red and you laughed, too. "idiots," you said, before kissing fred once more.

The Owl House, Season 2, Episode 1, "Stranger Tides," First Impressions!

Yo ho, yo ho, it's a pirate's whaler's life for Luz!

Now, if you'll recall, a common problem I ran into while reviewing season 1 is that while I was definitely enjoying it, it was so episodic that I often found it difficult to find something new to say about each episode. There wasn't a whole lot carrying over from one episode to the next that I could really sink my teeth into and fill out a full review, with the plot not really kicking in until the final two episodes.

Fortunately, I did not have that problem here, and now that season 2 has started, I have PLENTY to say about its debut episode.

So, this is what you'd expect for the first episode of the new season, an episode basically intended to bring everyone up to speed on how the characters are dealing with the ramifications of the previous season and introduce a few new elements that will set the tone for the season to come.

And basically, things at the Owl House are...not really great. I mean, sure, everyone got away and it looks like Emperor Belos hasn't really made their recapture a priority (most likely deliberately), but thanks to Lilith deciding to share Eda's curse to neutralize it, they both have found themselves powerless. They're not completely without magic, but what they have left is so meager to be practically useless. All expect for Eda's detachable limbs. Those still work. For Luz, as she never had magic to begin with and had to work extra hard to get around that handicap and find ways to keep up with everyone else, that means she's suddenly the breadwinner of the family, the one with the most power despite living with two (previously) notoriously powerful witches, and thus has taken up bounty hunting (sort of ironic, if you ask me). For Lilith, that means coming to terms with losing literally everything important to her, from her power to her position as the Emperor's Coven's poster girl, having been replaced by a spoiled teen prodigy (and oh, ho, ho, we will get to him!) as well as her own feelings of guilt for having cursed Eda in the first place.

Actually, guilt is the main motivator in this episode. Luz feels guilty for having gotten Eda trapped and that Eda now has to prioritize what little money they have for Luz's sake, which motivates her to take on more and more dangerous bounties to try to make it up to her. And Lilith feels rotten for the curse and that the fix ended up sapping Eda's powers, so she's driven to find some way of making herself useful, which fills out this episode's A-plot and B-plot.

Meanwhile, Eda herself is...handling things like a champ, actually. Sure, she's not thrilled about losing her power, nor does she care for the sudden dip in respect from the locals as a result, but she's not wallowing in self-pity. No, she's working and innovating, finding ways to adapt and keep ahead of the game. And to rip off the Empire too, because fuck those guys.

So anyway! Let's start with our A-plot: Luz the bounty hunter. She's doing her best to keep her spirits up and keep food on the table, but bounty hunting is a tough job and because everyone knows that Eda is powerless, the bondsman has no problem ripping them off because he knows he can get away with it. Furthermore, with the portal gone, Luz's messages to her mom aren't getting through, which is weighing on her mind.

Okay, we already know that Luz's mom is probably going to get involved this season. I predict that at some point, Emperor Belos completes his repairs of the portal, and when he does, all those unsent message will suddenly spill out all at once, giving good ol' Mama a heart attack.

Sort've serves her right though, because, you know, G-RATED CONVERSION THERAPY!

But anyway, she overhears Eda talking about eschewing her booze in favor of getting Luz food she can actually eat, so she resolves to make it up to her by taking on the biggest bounty of them all, which so happens to be a magical creature called a Selkie-dama, which requires her to join a ship that's setting out to do that so she could get a cut.

A ship that just so happens to be under the command of Lilith's replacement, who also so happens to be the mysterious spy working for Emperor Belos that we met last season, whom we will get to!

Anyway, they fortunately rush through the bit of Luz proving herself to the crew, because who cares, King finds out agent's private room (in a reveal that calls back to a similar scene in Gravity Falls) and gets captured, and they find the Selkie-Dama, in which Luz shows us how far she's come by utterly wrecking shit.

Unfortunately, the bounty is stolen by a mysterious figure, and Luz isn't about to get ripped off again, so she goes after them, only to find that that SURPRISE, it's Eda, who figured she'd cut out the middleman and just steal the bounty directly, because you have to admit that that does make sense.

But anyway, none of that matters, because that's when HE finally is properly introduced.

Hear that? That's the sound of thousands of thirsty fangirls (and quite a few fanboys and fanenbys as well) shrieking.

Meet the Golden Guard. Yes, he's arrogant. Yes, he's sassy as fuck. Yes, he's voiced by Zeno Robinson. And according to his brief appearance in the OP...

HE'S A PALE-HAIRED PRETTY BOY, Y'ALL!!!

So. We now have this season's small antagonist.

And since Luz is the only resident of the Owl House with any real power (Hooty aside, but we'll get to that) and now with Amity as Luz's close friend (more on that later as well), that makes him Luz's new rival! Ooooh, I can smell the Enemies to Lovers fics already!

Yeah, it's gonna be a HUGE ship, but that's no prediction, everyone knew that anyway.

But while I doubt they're actually going to get together (though count on our bi-queen Luz getting smitten once she sees his face), I do smell a redemption arc for this guy. I mean, why would they make him so likeable otherwise?

Yes, he was a jerk, but he was a jerk in an endearingly entertaining sort of way.

But beyond that, I do note that he also has a tech-powered staff (seems to be the same one that held the palisman that Belos fed off of last season, but with an upgrade), and wields the same flesh-based magic as well. Now, his ears do show that he's not a human, but I still wonder if all that tech magic (which has to be manipulating the flesh of the Titan itself) is either a crutch for the magicless or a shortcut for those who want power fast.

Also, in addition to slotting in as Luz's rival, he also has taken Lilith's place as the face of the Emperor's Coven and also uses Eda's "BYYYEEEEE!!!" catchphrase, he's set up to be a foil to just about everybody!

Anyway, he's not here to take them out just yet, but instead forces them to kill the Selkie-dama. They don't, of course, and instead trick him into thinking that they did, but it does show that 1. Emperor Belos is content to leave them be for the moment, and 2. Emperor Belos is seeking the destruction of magical creatures. Huh.

Also, called it on Luz becoming Eda's teacher when it comes to glyphs.

But speaking of rivals and ships, the question over all of this is Amity, who's been MIA with a broken leg for a while. No doubt she's not going to be upset about Luz being stuck in the Boiling Isles, but if Luz does start crushing on Prettyboy Golden Guard, I can see her feel all sorts of upset about that. I still thinking that Lumity is endgame, but now she's got to work for it, and there is going to be angst.

Anyway, our B-plot has Lilith trying to make things up for Eda, by putting together a scrying potion to spy on the Emperor's castle. Nice, will probably be important later, but the real important part, in addition to her getting over her pride (not an easy thing) was the surprisingly touching friendship she's building with Hooty of all people! I didn't see this coming, but they honestly have some great comedic chemistry.

And honestly, I can see it. Lilith's first introduction to Hooty was him opening a can of whoopass on her and her men, and now he does it again to save her from the fire bees. Sure, he's weird and annoying, but he's strong and competent as hell, something that she would naturally respect. I honestly like what they have building, and the Lulu and Hooticifer nicknames were adorable.

And now, onto our brief glimpse of Belos, who still managed to steal the whole damned episode with just a few words. We see he's gone that long, white hair thing going for him, so not a rogue palisman. So, human or shortcut-exploiting conman. Regardless, just as he seems content to leave the Owl House be despite Luz having the key (which will definitely be important later), he also seems aware of the scrying, and has no problem letting it go on.

Okay, this season is shaping up to be a great one. And next episode is an Amity episode, in which her parents meet Luz, so let's fucking GOOOOOOOOOOO!!! on the Lumity teases and oh God NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! on the awkward cringe comedy that is sure to result!

Synopsis: YN has a crush on someone and romanticizes about the unknown man. But not everyone is fond of hearing about the infatuation.

"YN? Hey, YN!"

"Y-yeah? What is it?", you asked, feeling confused as if you got woken suddenly from a deep dream.

"Are you daydreaming again? The guy again?", Crowe asked teasingly, nudging your shoulder with her own.

"Wh-what? N-no?", you stammered, looking around if someone had heard her.

"Was that a question?", Crowe asked amused and watched how your cheeks were reddening.

"Oh, come on. Stop this! I... I can't change it, okay? I mean, he's so.. ugh... He's so damn sexy and beautiful. Alone his eyes...", you breathed with a dreaming expression, resting your head in your hands as you thought about the man that occupied your mind for a few weeks.

Crowe chuckled and shook her head about your fling, not really getting your points because she never saw him in such a way, "You should really talk to him.", she suggested for the thousandths time.

You stared at her with big eyes like always, "Are you crazy? I can't! I- I could never...", you whispered in shock. You were too scared about the reaction of the outcome if you would confess your feelings to your crush.

"You have nothing to fear. Trust me. I have known him for so long. I'm sure he will-"

"Psht!", you hushed her as Nyx, Libertus and Pelna entered the Glaive's common room. You smiled at the boys, you even waved to greet them and Libertus and Pelna waved back - just Nyx seemed to hadn't noticed you at all. For some time, he seemed to be occupied with his own thoughts, sometimes even with a grumpy mood.

The boys were barely out of sight as you sighed dreamingly again with a fondly smile on your lips.

Crowe shook her head about you with a smile, "You're unbelievable."

No matter how much Nyx tried to ignore you and your infatuation about this mysterious other guy, about his almost 'divine appearance' as you had called it once, it wasn't that easy for him. Every time when you noticed him around, you stopped with your speech but not fast enough and so, Nyx heard more than he wanted about the way you thought about a man who wasn't him.

In fact, Nyx wanted to be this guy. He had no idea who this man was who was lucky enough to gain your attention in such a strong way but it was obvious that you didn't mean Nyx because nothing you ever said was suitable for him. He wasn't divine or perfect, rather quite the opposite.

So, as Niflheim started one of their random attacks on Insomnia, Nyx was kinda thankful for some distraction. To fight on the battlefield would give him time to sort his thoughts so he could focus back on the more important things.

The last thing Nyx had expected was that some things went more wrong than usual. Maybe he even became a bit too cocky for his own good as he tried to fight against several huge demons at the same time to burn off some steam. Yes, it had been reckless. Yes, Nyx knew it. And no, Nyx didn't regret it because it suited his mood just perfectly.

And for the first time since a very long time, Nyx got injured in a way that knocked him out from fighting and training for quite some time, which wasn't helpful for his mind and mood either. He was just glad that he didn't have to listen to your childish daydreaming anymore.

The injuries also allowed him to act in a bad mood, to be grumpy and to have an excuse why he didn't want to see anyone.

Therefore, as it knocked several times at his door, he was more than just annoyed that his friends were too stubborn to listen to him to leave him alone for a while.

"Nyx! I know you're there! Open the door!", you called out demandingly, banging against his door several times with your fist.

"What do you want?", Nyx hissed angrily as he opened the door finally. He just stepped aside as you stormed in before he closed his door to face you with a sullen expression.

Your eyes went big as you saw his appearance. Nyx had some scratches on his forehead, a cut on his lower lip, a long cut on his bare chest that got stitched, his rib cages were bandages thickly and many bruises were building around his hips and stomach. Slowly and shock filled, you moved your eyes back to meet his angry glance. With an open mouth, you gaped at him, simply speechless.

"Once again: WHAT do you want, YN?", Nyx asked more aggressively what caused him to wince in pain.

To see him like this awoke you from your state, "I... I wanted to... to...", you stammered, swallowed thickly.

"You wanted- what?", Nyx asked low, regretting his outburst seconds before because of the pain that was still shaking his body.

"Actually, I wanted to scream and yell at you for... For acting so reckless. Crowe told me what happened...", you whispered insecurely, still shocked about Nyx' wounds.

"Why?", Nyx asked annoyed.

"Why? You ask me why I would like to scream at you? You did stupid things on the battlefield!", you argued back, drawing your eyebrows together.

"Why do you even care about me, huh?", Nyx called out, stepping forward while ignoring the pain in his body, "Since when I am this important to you?"

"Wh-what? What do you mean?", you asked surprised, stepping back by the sight of his raging glance.

Nyx chuckled unamused, "Oh, don't act so innocently. I know about your little, silly crush on this guy!", he said and stepped forward, completely ignoring the fact how scared you looked as he came closer while you found no way to escape, "All these past weeks where you were swooning over the guy's 'incredible' eyes! And his 'perfect' lips! His 'oh so soft' hair! Oh, and don't forget his sexual masculinity!", he pointed out while stepping forward, mimicking your behavior in a mocking way.

Your eyes grew bigger with surprise and shock, "Y-you.. you have heard that?", you whispered.

Nyx grinned, enjoying your scared expression, "If I have heard you? Of course, I did! All your little base flatteries couldn't get overheard when you were talking with Crowe. I know, I'm nothing special. Obviously, not like him. I get reminded that a lot, trust me. So, I ask once again", he hissed angrily, stepping forward, caging you in a corner where you searched for a way out. Nyx was mad. About himself and the aggression he hadn't under control but he had caged his emotions far too long and now, they were bubbling to the surface. He was mad about you and your wonderful eyes, lips and face. And mostly, he was mad about the other guy who had stolen your heart. The one heart Nyx wanted to have for himself. And now, he had lost it before he even had a chance with you, "Why are you even caring for me when your interest is with someone else who isn't me?", he asked threateningly.

"N-Nyx, I- I-"

Nyx punched with his fist against a spot on the wall next to your head that let you flinch. Pain was punishing him immediately. But as he saw your scared expression, he knew he would deserve even more than just plain pain, "Spit it out, YN! Why do you care for me?"

"Because you are the guy!", you cried out scared, "You're the man I have a crush on!", you screamed helplessly before you slid down along the wall, crying out of shock because of the outburst of this usually so calm and composed man.

Utterly shocked, Nyx stepped back. He was panting for air but not because of the pain in his ribs. No physical pain would hurt him as much as the sight of your crouching frame on his floor was hurting him to see. His mind still tried to process what you just had said, what the meaning of the words were you had just used.

Slowly, you calmed down, wiping away the tears from your eyes with the sleeves of your sweatshirt while you took a few calming breaths. You leant against the wall with closed eyes, resting the back of your head against the cool concrete.

Minutes passed where none of you said anything and as you were calmer again, you chuckled dryly, still with closed eyes, "You know, Crowe always tried to convince me to talk with you. She said that you would be happy to hear my confession about the feelings I have for you. Because she knew you for so long, somehow, she was sure my feelings might be mutual.", you said, slowly opening your eyes to see his still shocked expression, "But I... I couldn't talk with you. I was too scared. Too scared you could reject me. Too scared that you could make fun of me. Too scared that you would laugh at me. Making jokes about me with the others. That I would get humiliated or that I could even lose one of my best friends.", you said followed by a soft chuckle, "But, god damn, I never expected you to scream at me like this. I- I never saw you this aggressive. I never thought you could ever hate me this much.", you breathed before you closed your eyes again.

Nyx awoke from his stasis by your words and closed slowly up on you, kneeling down with still some space left between you two to give you a way out from him if needed, "I- I don't hate you, YN. I could never hate you-"

"Tell that to the dent in your wall.", you said, pointing at a spot over your head where Nyx had hit the wall and where now a small hole was left.

Nyx didn't have to follow your hint to remember what he had done. His head hung low between his shoulders, "I'm sorry. Please, I... Fuck... I'm so sorry. I was so angry about the fact that you would like someone else instead of me that I couldn't think straight. All I ever wanted was a chance with you.", Nyx whispered.

As you opened your eyes by his words, you saw Nyx' slumped down figure right in front of you. He was so close, you just had to stretch out your hand to touch him and because it was what you still wanted, you did exactly that. You got on your knees, leaning forward to cup his face with both hands like something precious, "Shall we start this conversation again?"

Nyx raised his head to meet your eyes which were filled with more warmth than before. He swallowed and nodded insecurely, "W-why are you here?", he asked carefully.

You smiled softly, tilting your head, "Crowe told me what happened on the battlefield. She said you acted reckless and got injured. I... I had to see you."

Nyx crawled closer to you, ignoring his paining body once again, "You had to see me? Why?", hope was vibrating in his low voice.

"Because I care for you, Nyx. Maybe I care even more for you than you might think.", you said softly, leaning even closer.

"How much more?"

"Well, this much.", you whispered, leaning in to kiss him softly.

Nyx closed his eyes slowly, just enjoying your lips against his as you moved them. He moved along, deepening the kiss, pulling you closer with his hands on your back.

You broke the kiss very slowly for some air, resting your forehead against Nyx' with a content smile, "Why have you never said something?", you whispered.

Nyx shook his head, "I couldn't. You were always so glowing and happy when you were talking about this guy. The last thing I wanted was to... In fact, I just wanted to be the reason behind this breathtaking smile instead of someone else... But I also didn't want to take your glowing away."

"You never considered that you might be the reason behind my happiness, huh?", you asked softly.

"No… I had no idea that all the things you said were about me...", Nyx chuckled and winced in the next moment because of the pain that finally took back control of his body.

It was then that you got reminded of what Nyx had endured. Quickly, you stood up, helping him back on his feet and into the bed, "You should rest now.", you said softly and a bit guilt-ridden. Somehow, you were one reason behind his pain.

"Can you stay? I'm sure it will help me to recover.", Nyx asked with a smirk, grabbing your wrist as you were about to leave.

It was the smirk that always let your heartbeat quicken. You gnawed on your lower lip, "Okay, but just until you fell asleep.", you answered, crawling next to Nyx' side.

Nyx flung his arm around you, burying his nose into your hair, "Cute that you think I will let you go. At all.", he whispered, pressing a soft kiss on your ear before he pulled you closer to keep you secure in his arms before he fell into a soft sleep with you by his side like he always had dreamed of.

Misha x Kathy/ Sharpshooters Headcanons:

- Honestly I know I said that Kathy wouldn't return Misha's feelings but I do want to change that since my guy has just been through a lot.

- Also because Misha would 100% marry Kathy so Denji would have to be related to Thomas just so spite him. But then Harvey just looks at Bruce and is all: "I knew I shouldn't have let my daughter hang with you, NOW SHE'S GOT A THING FOR ASSASSINS!"

- Honestly Misha is still very flirty with Kathy and now that they're a thing, he's not holding back anymore.

- Like, she and the rest of the detective league are following a lead on Brute Force and Kathy is patrolling a certain area when she feels an arm wrap around her waist and cover her mouth so she can't scream and she panics until she hears an obnoxious laugh and she gets annoyed.

- "MISHA!"

- "Did I scare you, Zayka? I didn't mean to."

- "Like hell you didn't." But then he starts putting small kisses on her neck as he apologetically wraps two arms around her waist and squeezes her gently to make her smile. Meanwhile Maikel and Benito are wondering WHERE THEIR SNIPERS ARE.

- He likes to appear in her mirrors whenever she's doing her make-up or something. Like, she's doing her eyeliner and he's all: "RAWR!" and she messes up before she glares at him.

- "You know, you're supposed to be the sweetest Yamisoka."

- "If you met my family, you'd see that does not mean much, da?"

- Still, there are times where Kathy can also mess with him. Like, they're fighting and stuff and Misha pushes her off of him and she stops moving and he's all: "Very funny, Zayka."

- And then after a few minutes, he realizes she isn't breathing and he panics and runs over to her, scared he hurt someone else he loved but then the moment he gets close enough, Kathy jumps up and goes: RAH!"

- And it makes him jump and then he gets angry and starts cussing her out in fluent Russian, some Japanese gets mixed in there too and she's laughing and is all: "I'm sorry, Mish. I couldn't resist, you scare me all the time-"/ "Don't ever pull anything like that again, I don't know what I'd do if I-"/ and then she grabs his face and kisses his cheek and is all: "Baby, I deal with Thomas. If I'm alive by now, I'm not dying anytime soon."

- Speaking of Thomas, he won't ruin this relationship purely because he's so excited that if Misha and Kathy get married, HE AND DENJI GET TO BE RELATIVES-IN-LAW!!! Meanwhile Denji is all: "Misha, you bring dishonor to this family."/ "You exiled me."/ "EXACTLY, THAT'S HOW BADLY YOU DISHONOR US-"

- Might move Misha back into Gotham actually because I like the idea of him sitting in his dad's base and Kathy just opens the door before plopping on her huge boyfriend.

- "Rough day, Zayka?"

- "Yeah there was murder but it was very hard to solve. They were shot but there were no windows or signs of forced entry, just a broken mirror. Ironically, this was the same guy who tried to peek under my skirt last game."

- And Misha just hugs her close to him before resting his chin on her head, "You're cute when you're trying to force a confession out of me, da?"

- It's awkward because Benito and Kathy were dating and now she's going out with his best friend and right hand man so there's always an awkwardness, especially when Benito first found out they were dating where Kathy is all: "Oh, uh, hey, Beni...Is Mish here?"/ "Oh...Yeah...I'll get him." And then Benito walks into Misha's target practice room before glaring at him: "You're an asshole, Misha."/ "Kathy's here already? Perfect."

- Even though Misha is taller than Kathy, he likes to cuddle up on top of her and lay his head on her stomach and she's all: "Uuuuh, Mish, you're crushing me!"/ "How do you American's say? Uh, oh yes! Deal with it."

- Maikel and Sergio get really awkward when fighting Misha, BELLA IS HORRIFIED BECAUSE THAT IS HER COUSIN, and yet you've got him and Kathy exchanging flirty banter as they're having a shoot-out.

- Kathy, from behind a table: "Baby, do you really want to fight me?

- Misha, from a higher point in the area: "Eh, fighting is a majority of our relationship. I actually kinda look forward to it, da?"

- Kathy: "You just look forward to the fighting because you think that me trying to shoot you is hot."

- Misha: "Cheap shot, but it is genetic-"

- Bella: "NO, NO IT'S NOT. YOU AND UNCLE AKIRA ARE JUST WEIRD-"

- Honestly they go to shooting ranges for dates but sometimes they also head to Misha's house (because Thomas is going to third wheel at Kathy's house) and cuddle and watch a movie. Probably an Adam Sandler movie because Misha finds him funny.

- Kathy does know what happened with his mother and sometimes she wakes up in the middle of the night because she hears knocking and Misha's in her mirror and it looks like he's been crying about his mom again so she let's him in and she sits on the edge of her bed as he kneels down and hugs her waist and just puts his face in her stomach and he's tense.

- "Did you have a nightmare about her again?" And he nods his head "yes".

- "You know you didn't do it in purpose, right?" And then that's when she hears him kinda start sniffling and he whispers: "But I still did it, Kathy."

- And then she just hugs him and runs her hands through his hair to comfort him.

- Holy fuck, she loves his hair so much. She likes to play with it, she'll brush it for him when he can't be bothered.

- He likes playing with her hair too. Whenever she gets captured by Brute Force, he'll just twirl her hair between his fingers while teasing her about being more careful.

- She can and will make puns around him and he's all: "THIS IS A BETRAYAL OF NOT JUST MY TRUST BUT OUR ENTIRE RELATIONSHIP, WHAT THE FUCK-"

Going in blind: Watching season 4 for the first time. Random thoughts.

I never said anything about it before but I love Shadow Weaver's DCAU Batman eyes. They're so expressive.

Episode 1: Okay...I wasn't expecting Catra to do that. I mean, it makes sense. If she has leverage over Hordak then she's basically in charge of the Horde and that's what she's wanted (or at least believes she wants) since episode 1. It's an aspect that made her a good antagonist, that she's not blind to the evil of the Horde, she just doesn't care as long as she herself is secure. Which naturally begs the question, when the rebellion and the princesses are crushed, when the Horde is on top, when Adora is dead, when Catra finally has everything she's ever wanted...will she actually finally be happy? Somehow, I have my doubts.

I definitely feel for Glimmer in this. When you go through as big a loss as she did you need to be able to feel and vent if you're ever going to get through it. It doesn't have to be right away but everyone doing everything in their power to avoid the topic entirely can make you feel like you're going crazy. It'a especially bad for her since it unintentionally makes it feel like everyone is acting like it doesn't matter that Angela is gone when it clearly means everything to Glimmer.

Episode 2: I actually had a potted cactus plant once. Accidentally forgot about it and left it outside for an entire winter. Once the snow was gone the cactus looked like it had melted.

I kind of want to see what an interaction between Double Trouble and Clayface from the Harley Quinn animated series would look like. I'm guess Catra was just testing how good Double Trouble was as a doppelganger because it doesn't seem like she did anything while Adora was being distracted, though I suppose that could be a reveal in a later episode.

Not much to say except that I love how buff Huntara is while still clearly being a woman. Like, women can have a variety of different body types, as this series and Steven Universe show, and Huntara's build isn't just, like, Bow's body with lipstick and ponytail and the animators calling it a day. No, she looks like a freakin' jacked adult woman.

Episode 3: I didn't figure out the Flutterina = Double Trouble twist until a minute before it was revealed, so good job there. Before that I was wondering if Flutterina was some fan's original character where they won some contest where their OC got to be in the show for an episode. She was giving off some weird self-insert vibes. That twist made it all work though. It's honestly not a bad plan. Shapeshifters haven't really been a thing in the series before now so there's no reason to suspect it. Even if they did they'd probably be expecting it by way of magic or technology, while Double Trouble's seems to be a natural ability.

I like that even though Bow is definitely the goofier one of the trio he is still consistently shown as competent. That's never in question. He was very heroic and reassuring to the villagers this episode. I get why those kids idolize him so much.

Catra's having guilt over what she did with the portal and to Entrapta and her response is basically to just double-down. She doesn't know any other way to be. Not going to lie, I am kind of hoping we get another moment in the show where Adora just completely overwhelms Catra with the sheer power of She-Ra. I'm not saying like brutalize her or anything but just something where Catra is made to realize just how powerful Adora is and that she could just destroy Catra if she had a mind to do so.

Episode 4: Well, I was saying I wanted Adora to do it but I guess I don't mind Glimmer being the one to get some good shots in on Catra. Like I predicted, Shadow Weaver's moving in to become her teacher like she was with her father. Honestly I like that that was more Adora's problem than Glimmer using her as bait, which she seemed to get over pretty quick. Yeah, it was kind of a heartless thing to do but it was an understandable tactic and she clearly outright told Adora that she did it and why afterwards, which at least means she's still being honest.

It occurs to me that Glimmer and Catra may be the ones running parallel right now. Both are basically leading their respective sides of the war. They both have lost someone very important to them. And both are trusting someone they probably shouldn't. Both even have outfits that've been updated in the intro. The difference is Glimmer's just trying to deal with a bad situation while Catra's is entirely self-inflicted.

Minor thing but I like Glimmer's new outfit this season. I'm sure this is the intention but it makes her look older and more mature. A little more muscular in some shots too.

Episode 5: Heart of Etheria project. No idea what that is but assumedly whoever's a part of it doesn't like Light Hope and Mara being friends. Sounds like it's very much interested in She-Ra being just a warrior, and perhaps a tool, for the greater good. It does make me wonder though how much Light Hope remember from when she was rebooting. Even if she deleted the Mara memory she could potentially still have the memory of her and Adora watching the Mara memory, as well as Adora asking to be her friend.

Episode 6: Yep. Scorpia; definitely favorite supporting character. There is something kind of funny about her whole "Scorpions are loyal" line when you remember the story about the Frog and the Scorpion, where it stings the frog despite it meaning death for itself as well simply because that is its nature. But finally we're having someone go save Entrapta, and I can only assume at some point Scorpia's going to access the power of the Black Garnet.

The parallels between Catra and Hordak are definitely at their max here with that speech of hers to him. She's basically trying to convince herself that she doesn't need anyone, the timing of which is appropriate since she just drove away Scorpia and now truly doesn't have anyone. Not that I blame Scorpia, obviously. Like Adora before her, however good you believe someone can be and that you can help them, at some point you just have to cut the toxic people out of your life. You have the right to be happy too.

And man, Bow is just the best. He saw something was wrong between Adora and Glimmer and defused the situation like (snap) that, pushing them to talk like any sane person would.

Episode 7: I'm sure it is just because I've seen way too many TV shows and movies (both animated and live action) that don't do it but it is just such a relief to have a show where the characters just TALK and LISTEN to each other. It doesn't solve all their issues but they're at least not being stupid and freakin' petty. It helps the drama feel a lot less forced and contrived.

Episode 8: A little bit of amusement in Bow thinking at first that Glimmer and Adora didn't even notice he was gone despite them coming to his rescue very shortly afterwards, given Catra is only now realizing Scorpia has left and assumedly she did so a while ago. Bow and Sea Hawk hadn't been gone for that long so it's not unreasonable Glimmer and Adora wouldn't be worried about their absence (Bow was literally talking about "me time" when they last saw him), while Catra is only noticing Scorpia's absence now and it was because she wanted something. Like Scorpia said, she's a bad friend.

Kind of ironic given that a lot of Catra's issues are the direct result of Shadow Weaver giving her very little love growing up but it does seem this tough love is probably what'll get through to Catra the best. She might finally stop making bad decisions and lashing out if she's forced to live with the consequences of them, like Adora told her last season.

Glimmer gets a bit of slack from me since she suffered through a huge loss, that being her mother, and then was immediately thrown into being queen right after. It'd be hard for anyone to be 100% on their game and well-adjusted in a situation like that, and I buy that she was on some level resentful of Adora for coming back instead of her mother, even if unintentionally so. What definitely helps is that Glimmer very clearly and immediately regretted what she said to Adora. Like Catra she's lashing out but unlike Catra Glimmer recognizes some of the damage she's doing and knows, at least in this case, that she went too far.

Episode 9: Now that I can see the design in color I definitely prefer Mara's She-Ra with pants to Adora's She-Ra with shorts. Honestly, while the differences are pretty minor, I do think Mara's She-Ra design is overall a lot better than Adora's. Sharper shoulder guards. Bigger cape (especially the cape, I love capes). I don't know, there's just a lot that clicks with it and I wouldn't mind Adora getting a similar outfit later.

Madam Razz definitely had a Yoda feel this episode. I was very much expecting her to start wacking Mara with a stick over the sugar like Yoda did with R2. Though while that was Yoda acting crazy, for Razz it's because she experiences time out of order, and I don't think I've ever seen that concept taken to this extent, or at least done this way before. There are characters like River Song from Doctor Who, Professor Paradox from Ben 10, or even the Reverse-Flash who interact with other characters in time out of order but those characters are still on a linear path from their own perspective, even when travelling through time. Razz is just bouncing around her own timeline, seemingly not even any real reason or cause to it like Subaru from Re:Zero. Clearly she's not just remembering things oddly because her talk about things of the present are heard by people in the past and have an effect. I wonder if maybe the reason why is because Razz was at ground zero of Mara's actions and this is a side-effect of pulling Etheria away from the rest of the universe.

Bringing more Star Wars into this, it basically sounds like the Heart of Etheria project has turned Etheria into a magic Starkiller Base; storing power that'll be unleashed to destroy whole planets. And jeez, I think this was the first time I really felt creeped out by Light Hope when she was talking to Mara.

I'm looking forward to seeing what it means that the First Ones only made the sword and that Etheria made She-Ra. If that's the case, why is only the sword able to bring out the She-Ra form? Is it like MCU Thor's hammer and the weapon was just meant to help him control the power he already had? Or is what we think is She-Ra not actually She-Ra and that form that Adora and Mara take is just a stand-in for the real thing?

Episode 10: It didn't even occur to me until now but Double Trouble's capture is another blow to Catra's circle of "friends" too. They were at least able to make her laugh. One less person for her to talk to and just...really just distract her from her thoughts.

It's a good dilemma this episode presents about what to do with the Heart of Etheria. The safest and probably best option is to just dismantle it, like Adora and Bow want, since it could easily lead to the destruction of the entire planet if it goes off. Not the mention there's so little they know about it and what it was intended for and the one person who can potentially tell them, Light Hope, they were warned not to trust. But it's not hard to understand where Glimmer is coming from in wanting to use that power to fight the Horde. They're already losing the war and now she knows Hordak Prime and his FAR more powerful forces are on the way. Tapping into the Heart is a huge risk but she's not seeing any other paths for the rebels to win. It's a really good dilemma, with good arguments presented from both sides, and I buy this widening the schism between Adora and Glimmer.

Episode 11: I have mixed feelings on King Micah still being alive. On the one hand there's a lot of good potential interactions we can now have with him, primarily between Glimmer and Shadow Weaver, and he is a fun character. But on the other I can't help but wonder if this kind of lessens the impact of what Angela gave up to overcome the false reality. Part of what made it so emotional was that she had to accept the person she loved was dead and not coming back...except now we see that he wasn't dead and now he is coming back. Yeah, their family lost out on years together and that does still carry some emotional weight but I was already also half-expecting Angela to come back later in the series because she's stuck between dimensions, meaning there's a chance she could still be alive. If both Glimmer's parents come back then that really feels like it takes a lot of weight out of her story. But I guess we'll see what happens.

Also, why did the Horde exile him to Beast Island? Why not just kill him?!

Episode 12: So the Horde exiles Micah to Beast Island instead of killing him. The First Ones protect their secrets by sending their bad tech to Beast Island. Does no one know how to just destroy things in this world?

Ohhh, I am so looking forward to next episode. While it's debatable whether Glimmer should be going through with her plan she is at least being smart with how she's going about it. Double Trouble was being paid by Catra to work for the Horde, not out of any sense of loyalty. Glimmer has the resources of Bright Moon at her disposal so it's reasonable she could pay them more to switch sides. Double Trouble was very good at sabotaging even a group as tight-nit as the heroes, so Hordak and Catra are probably easy pickings with all their issues.

Episode 13: ....WELL THAT AIN'T GOOD!

I'll admit, I had a little bit of an unintended laugh. After all we've heard about Horde Prime, like this shadowy all-powerful monster, I wasn't expecting the fabulous flowing dreadlocks and smoothness. Credit where it's due, man has charisma and charm, which goes a long way in helping your big evil world conqueror not be a very flat character, because it's doubtful he's going to have the same kind of sympathetic motivation as Hordak or complexity as Catra to keep him elevated.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Double Trouble kicking at Catra while she's down. Adora and Scorpia were honest but they never wanted to hurt Catra. Not so much with Double Trouble and they just shove reality into her face. Everyone leaves Catra because of Catra. She's the common factor. It's her fault and no one else's. Again, I don't know for certain if Adora and Catra get together at the end (Catra would have a LOT to make amends for regardless) but Double Trouble was definitely implying Catra had feelings for her with the way they put Catra's hand on "Adora's" cheek while talking about how she left her.

I like that we see Glimmer's plan actually working at first. The princesses get a massive power boost and decimate the Horde forces. But the minute it starts going wrong she immediately admits Adora was right and she tries to stop the energy flow. I imagine having her there with Catra was intentional by the writers. Despite some parallels, Glimmer can actually accept her failures and work to try and fix things. Unlike Catra, she didn't blame Adora for things going wrong.

So the sword allows the First Ones to control She-Ra and the energy she'd be absorbing from the planet. Assumedly that means there are at least some parts to She-Ra that have nothing to do with the First Ones and thus maybe Adora can still use some of those powers without the sword.

Season 4 verdict: Yeah, the show keeps getting better, though I will admit last season's finale had me more emotional, but that's a bit of an unfair comparison given everything that happened in that finale vs. this one. This is definitely the series hitting its darkest hour, where it feels like EVERYONE lost. Not just the rebels but the Horde as well. The sword and Light Hope are gone and She-Ra (for now) along with them. Glimmer and Catra are basically prisoners. Hordak's probably going to have his personality stripped away. The Fright Zone is in ruins. The only one who's gained anything is Prime.

Really looking forward to what the final season has in store, especially since there seems to be the implication that Catra just saved Glimmer's life.
