Hm... If I ever did start posting art on here again, it'd have to be absolutely covered in a watermark, would folks be cool with that?

I dunno, I'm kinda worried I'm leaving my tumblr crowd in the dust, and I've been having a lot of complicated feelings surrounding purging my account of what it had prior... mostly unpleasant ones. Maybe I'm just trying to desperately grasp at what I deleted, I don't even really know at this point.

Thinking about Brave Soren

Soren won this years CYL event and I'm down for it, but I am worried about the art, after what they've done in past years. I've also been thinking about what I'd like to see since he won.

What I want most is Senri Kita as the artist, and her to be given free reins to do whatever she wants. I trust her with my life, and more importantly, my son's life. I'll ultimately be happy with whatever we get because it will be another Soren alt, but I've decided to share my thoughts publicly, even though no one asked.

The theme is usually someone important to the character or their family. I don't want an outfit solely inspired by Ike. I don't want an outfit based on his father, both for spoilers and for the fact that his father is awful. Really, I don't want him to just be dressing up at someone else. Brave Micaiah and Brave Camilla are in clothes closer to what they would wear, and I'd like that for Soren.

I would, however, believe that my son would look quite good in an outfit like this with GM inspired colors. Maybe with a little knife sage action for the weapon.

Literally I was flipping through the Tellius Recollections Vol. 1 book and I saw this sketch for an outfit for Rajaion, and I was like, that would be an excellent Brave Soren outfit. It meets a lot of what I'd like to see for Brave Soren, in that it can look like it's paying homage to a few different characters without looking terribly strange for Soren to be wearing.

A sloppy render of what I mean by colors, made possible by copying a sketch of Soren's face from the artbook onto the Rajaion concept outfit. I'm not totally satisfied with the color palette, but I kinda like it, and that's good enough for demonstration.

The watermark is only there to try and prevent people from mistaking this for anything official if it gets shared outside of Tumblr reblogs. I didn't actually draw anything, everything comes from the artbook and I treated it like a coloring book (digitally. I treated the artbook sketches like a coloring book digitally. I feel the need to emphasize that I did not color the physical book).

Yuuki Tsugami (Kamen Rider Agito)- The brave and kind young man with psychic powers. Much like his father, he’s really good at committing to his double-life role, to the point that most people (aside of his friends) could not distinguish from his silent, noble warrior of Agito to his happy-go-lucky, pun-loving guy personas. The first to jump into battle when monsters are in the vicinity.

Taira Kaoru (Kamen Rider Kuuga)- The optimist with nearly 2000 skills, with the goal of giving people smiles. He’s the go-to guy when his friends needed comfort and getting the spirits up. While he despises the use of violence, he feels it is a necessity to stop monsters from causing harm.

Koji Sumiko (Kamen Rider G3-X)- A half-Japanese and half-British ex-cop, who is a smart and courageous badass. When his mind is put into work, he’s a serious hacker, operator and fighter. When off duty, he’s laidback, chill (most of the time) and the type to crack a good joke or two. Though, he does get irritated when there’s chaos in the room, sometimes.

Recko Ashihara (Kamen Rider Gills)- The serious one and the “Reality Hammer” of the group. Although he has trust issues with people, he always follows his friends and not afraid to speak the truth when he feels the situation needs it. He also has a low-content woldog companion named Raider.

Tensai Kiryu (Kamen Rider Build)- The eccentric narcissist but good hearted genius of the Rider gang. While his ways of invention and problem solving could be described as chaotic and he’s a certified troll, he will do anything to keep his friends and everyone around him safe and kick some baddies’ ass for Love and Peace.

Sakiko Hino (Kamen Rider OOO)- The “big sister” and the voice of reason. Sweet and fierce, her love for adventure and her deep caring for her friends made her the person that keeps everything together when times go sore. She got super-strength that she had inherited from her grandmother, which she’s a bit embarrassed about it.

Leo Hidari and Soren (Kamen Rider W)- Two in one Rider, a pair of expert detectives from an obscure Japanese city of Fuuto. While Leo is the resident half-boiled drama queen of the group, his compassion and empathy is essential when faced with the criminals he arrests. Soren is his close partner with mysterious wind powers, who is an oblivious nerd, but very helpful when it comes to find important information.

Akira Hiden (Kamen Rider Zero One)- The youngest of the group and the CEO of an android company of his family heritage, Hiden Intelligence. Cheerful, caring and humble, he’s the type who tries his best to support his friends no matter how dire the situation is. Even when cracking one of his many terrible puns. He has a sentient android secretary named Izu, who accompanies him and act as his close support.

Ten minutes later, Cosmo posted a video from the photoshoot. Caption: “As an actor's sensitivity and observation, there are different temperature vibrations in the perspective of @ Gong Jun Simon. [side by side comparison]  -  The inclusion of Kele is possibly a response to discussion last week about a video from the tea shop in which Kele is very visibly distressed by the way he’s being handled. (animal abuse cw for the link) If it is a response to that though, it’s not a great one considering Kele looks quite upset in these photos.

→ Gong Jun unfollowed thirty-one accounts on Douyin. He is still following Zhang Zhehan’s deactivated account, as well as the official Word of Honor account. Fan Observation: One of the accounts he unfollowed was the deactivated account for his show Begin Again. The fact that he unfollowed it but not Zhang Zhehan’s indicates that he was able to distinguish the UID sequence.

→ Youku resposted one of Gong Jun’s photoshoots from earlier in the week (the one with the car) to their Twitter.

10-29 → A Twitter space was held to discuss recent candy. [recordings] [written notes]

→ Gong Jun posted a vlog of recording Little Shoulders and the BAZAAR photoshoot released 09-02. [subbed video] Caption: “#Gong Take Notes VLOG# It’s ‘confidence’ [doge emoji]” BGM is September by Earth, Wind & Fire. His studio reposted it with the added caption, “Boss @ Gong Jun Simon 's Gong Take Notes is here! From the recording studio to the night walk, the immersive work experience card +1” It was also reposted by Colgate. Fan Observations:  -  Posted at 14:19, 511 kadian, 51129 with the date.  -  Some find is suspicious that he specifies that the time is 8:51 when he finishes work, commenting that he looks quite excited.  -  This seems to be the same evening he took the photos he posted on 09-10, dating the video 08-19.  -  The BGM has the lyrics “do you remember the 21st night of September?” 09-21-2020 was the day of the “ni bu pei” scene reshoot.

Hi Sky! I have legit been following your blog & art for over ten years at this point and if I may, I absolutely adore you and your writing. I've been a fan since you did the writing prompts here on tumblr and you have inspired me in so many ways.

I have recently decided that I would like to go public with my poems too, but it's really scary to make yourself so vulnerable while wanting your art to be seen at the same time. I was wondering if you had any advice for a baby poet on where to start or what to look out for? Is Instagram a good place to publish poems for the first time? Do you recommend using a watermark or some trademark symbol to prevent people from stealing?

If there is any time you would be willing to take out of your day to answer some of these questions, it would be highly appreciated 💕 Thank you for being the person you are, I hope you are well.

ten years!!! my goodness, I'm sending you a tight embrace.

how exciting! (terrifying, yes, but exciting!) first, I want to say that whether you do decide to share your writing with the world, or if you change your mind and keep it to yourself—you are still a writer. that doesn't change with where you're writing it or who may be reading it. <3 that being said, I have a lot of tricky thoughts on this matter, so I hope any of it can be of help to you.

I'd think about what your interest is in sharing your work (if you're looking for community, personal interest/relief, publicity, etc.). that way, you can manage your expectations, set a practice or a schedule (if needed), and hopefully bypass any initial feelings of rejection.

I'll let you know now that the fear of vulnerability never really goes away. (haha, sorry<3) 10+ years of this and my stomach still tangles itself sometimes before I click "Post." I remember when I first started sharing poetry, it felt like I was flinging myself off a great height, hoping there was a soft place to land at the bottom. after a while, I grew an appreciation of feeling brave. every so often, a stranger might send me some kind words; that they knew the feeling I was talking about, or needed to hear what I had to say. I began feeling more proud of my writing style and ideas. those aspects (which can take time to cultivate) continue to make it feel worth it.

the last two questions, I'll answer here. instagram has its purpose, but it is very important to remember that if you have any intention of reaching an audience, you will constantly be working to please an algorithm. (again, intentions are important here. hoping to just share with friends every once and a while? no problem. go for it!) I am so, so, so grateful tumblr has been the first home (and main home) for my writing. as much as this site has changed over the years and definitely has its flaws, it's felt like a more welcoming environment and has a way of sharing art that aligns with (most) of my ideals. (less competitive mindset, doesn't demand a constant feed/output, no one knows/cares how many followers you have, you can never post a selfie/be completely anonymous and it's chill.) I don't have that much experience with watermarks (and thankfully, only a few instances of plagiarism), so I can't speak to that regard as confidently. although, I think I pivoted to posting my poetry in picture format to deter stealing. you still take risks posting anything online, so it's up to you, but I see people frequently using watermarks without issue.

again, I'm so excited for you! "thank you" seems to fall short in how grateful I feel for such long-held support. please know it means the world to me. I can't wait to see your work (should you decide to share) and am wishing you many green clover-filled fields of good luck. <3 mwah!

I’m saying my say and I’m done with this bullshit now

I have been on this hellhole site for many many years. I have been part of the Lord of The Rings/Hobbit fandom, Marvel/DC fandom, Henry Cavill/Chris Evans fandom, and F1/Daniel Ricciardo/Lewis Hamilton fandom. I have THOUSANDS of Gifs saved on my phone and laptop. Things that I loved, people who made cool art, just overall vibey stuff that I loved and saved because it brought me joy.

I did not make a spreadsheet of each gif with their creator, some have watermarks on them but most don’t. Some of these creators aren’t even on this app anymore, or in those fandoms anymore.

To expect every single fic writer and human to credit the original creator of the gif is an impossible ask. Some I found after it was reblogged 100’s of times, some I was sent, some I can’t even remember how I found it.

Some of you expect Instagram level creator bullshit from free creatives in this dumpster fire app. No one makes money from writing on here, and gif creators don’t make money either.

Yes people should be credited for their hard work, and I for one appreciate the gifs y’all bless us with, but it’s the same with fic writers. I love reading stuff and just enjoying what you write. Some I like, some I reblog with response, it depends on how I feel in that moment or if my health is acting up and all I can muster is a like.

Stop sending death threats and rude comments and hate ON ANON even. Be brave, say it off Anon with your fucking chest if you want to be a dickhead.

I appreciate all the creatives on here because I get to enjoy everyone’s work and I never want to be the demanding person and ask for anything but let’s not force people to delete their blogs because they saved a gif 8 months ago and they can’t remember who it was who made it.

In the past week, on completely separate occasions, five people have stopped to ask me about my phone case.

Why you ask?

I commissioned a wonderful and talented artist awhile ago to create the three main characters from my Red Glass and Shadow series (aka my WIP). Gage, Nyx, and Sebastian!

I loved the Sebastian commission so much that I put the image on a phone case for myself! He is certainly eye catching- Everyone that has asked strikes up a conversation wondering if it’s an anime or video game character. I say "Nope. I write in my spare time, and this is one of the characters I created. My male lead." I then of course explain that an artist helped bring him to life but he’s from my work and my character vision boards/profiles.

From there, they are wildly interested! People I never thought would care- let alone be impressed. Executives from work loving that Sebastian's a vampire. Strangers thinking he's a handsome guy. Coworkers. Cousins. Who is he? What's his name? What exactly do you mean by shadow powers and the incarnation of darkness?

Digiweek2021 Day 07: Home (free day)

HAPPY ODAIBA DAY to my friends on the Eastern Hemisphere!  I’ll be back tomorrow to post on Odaiba Day in my country with the other artwork I did for this fic; I got my Western Hemisphere babes, too ;) 

I posted a new fic to celebrate!  It’s called Ladybug House, please read it on AO3 to enjoy the art I made and the screenshots I included!  Here is the summary:

After his seniors graduated and Mimi moved away, Koushiro is the last of the older Chosen attending his high school. Although Koushiro doesn't let it show, Tentomon senses that he's lonely and joins him on his commute to school. When the harsh cold of winter makes Tentomon shut down, Koushiro asks him to stay home instead of braving the elements. Tentomon refuses, citing Koushiro's loneliness. This pushes Koushiro to reconnect with his friends, and he starts with the one he misses most...

Focuses on the relationships between Koushiro and Tentomon and Koushiro and Taichi. Taishiro written in such a way that it can be interpreted as platonic or romantic. Explores what it means to be an adult and forge an adult life. Post Tri, pre Kizuna, canon setting. Complete oneshot.

Minor characters: Kae Izumi, Daisuke, Miyako, Takeru, Hikari

Repost Art Accounts

Hey guys, sorry if I’m overstepping, but I’ve noticed an uptick in digimon art reposting blogs on Tumblr (at least, in my little corner of it).  It’s so easy to accidentally follow and reblog them- I followed one myself recently until I recognized a piece and knew where it actually came from!

When people repost art, it makes the actual creators less likely to make and share future works.  So please, if you see an account where the OP is making lots of ‘original’ posts in wildly different art styles (ie, not reblogging from the source)...  Take a look, see if the art came from elsewhere, and reconsider interacting with reposts.  Another sign of reposts is oddly cropped images- the reposter removing the artist’s watermark.  Noticing that nothing on the blog is watermarked is another big giveaway!  Don’t beat yourself up if you didn’t notice right away, it literally happens to everyone!

If you want to share art from folks who are not on Tumblr, kindly link to it instead of reposting it.  Also, please know that “reposted with permission” usually means “reposted without permission.”

Please respect artists, so they continue to create and share with us <3
