Hello I loved your bf HCs I was wondering if I could get headcanons of how Reki and langa act when they have a crush on someone?Would they try to impress their crush with their skateboard skills and other things. Thank you
Crushing on you
How Reki and Langa act around their crush
A/n: Thank you for your request, hope you like it! I think it's a little too long but once I started writing i couldn't stop. Also not proofread bc im still sleepy ( ╹▽╹ )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When he realizes he has a crush on you he's like
Oh
And then becomes a blushing mess
Mind you he just realized this when he took a candid picture of you
He's staring at the picture and is like "I want to take more pictures of them"
And from them it spiraled into a worldwind romance
(Is what he would like to believe)
Honestly he thinks it's one sided pinning but little does he know...
Everyday when he enters the class he scans the classroom trying to find your face in the sea of students
He's elated when he finds out that you're in school that day
When's there's group work, he usually tries to strike a conversation with you
And when he's distracted you enough to realize that everyone else already had a partner
He'll swoop in and offer himself
(I like to think he's cunning)
And from there he's just cracking jokes and flirting with you a lot
He wants you to think he's reliable so he's offering to do a lot of things
Like, is your bag heavy? Let me help you
You're tired? Sleep a while and I'll wake you up when the teacher arrives?
You didn't bring your lunch? Take mine, i wasn't hungry anyways
I can definitely see him doing weird & cool things to impress you
Would take you to the skate park to watch him do tricks and practice with him
And if you don't skateboard he's going to ask you to rate how cool that trick was
Say 10/10 or we're going to have a problem 😕
Overall he's very blushy blushy like
The color of his hair blushy
Bonus
Personal hc that he's clingy so when you're together expect lots of physical touches
Tumblr media
He found out he liked you when he wasn't just looking up to you anymore
Something along the lines of "wow, they're kinda cool...i want to be friends with them"
I have a gut feeling that he's more direct about his courtship with you
(It all came from his mom)
Once you've established a friendship, he'd ask to pick you up along the way to school
Waiting somewhere near your house or public transport area, whichever you take
Not very subtle, if he finds something funny or interesting he's immediately tracking you down to show you
Also another one to actively seek you out
He'd approach your table to ask if he could eat lunch with you
If he needs help with his classes, you're the first person he turns to
After school also offers to walk you home along the way
When you guys start hanging out more, i can definitely see him inviting you to watch him practice skateboarding
(Early on when he's still learning) he wants you to see him improve
Once his gotten better is he then showing off to you
He wants you to see what he can do coupled with his experience of skiiing
He's doing this to fish compliments from you
Another personal hc that he will do stupid stuff just to impress you
You'd have to deter him from doing such things pls, Reki isn't being much help
In fact he's encouraging Langa to do it
I can see him attempting to make a bento box for you
Heavy emphasis on the attempt
It's kinda messy and ameteur but he did it because he heard your classmates say food is the way to the heart
Bonus
Another one to be clingy, if you're walking together he wants to hold your hand or be close to you

Host Club SK8 Track 3
Reki: Kyan Reki has now returned!
Langa: Reki!
ADAM: That was a fast return. But I don't need hosts who don't make money at my club.
Reki: You don't understand at all, ADAM! I'm not a host to make money! It's because it's fun!
ADAM: I wondered what you would say...
Langa: Me too! That's good.
ADAM: What?
Langa: Doing it for fun is good. Reki said at the beginning, that "being a host is infinitely fun!"
Reki: Right?
ADAM: Alright! Then let's have a beef! If you guys win, I'll give you this shop.
Others: Eh?
Reki: And if you win?
ADAM: I'll get you guys... to be furniture.
Reki: Furniture!?
ADAM: Langa-kun will be a chair. He will support my ass with his whole body! And the redhead over there will be a table. I'll put a burning hot steak on an iron plate on your back, so prepare yourself.
Langa: Hosts even do that sort of thing!
Reki: We don't!
Cherry: Add me to that competition.
ADAM: What?
Cherry: If I win, you'll return to our original location.

ADAM: Well then, I'll start. A birthday call to celebrate Princess Shadow's birth.

I was wondering how the sk8 boys (minus Miya ofc, bitch go sip your apple juice) would be drunk? Like what kinda drunks would they be?
pLSHKFJSDHFK I LOVE THIS,,, yuhhhhh get into it!!!
i personally have no experience with drinking, so this is just for shits and giggles. and! i do not advocate it if you’re underage or if you’ll be driving later or if you’re possibly alone and like a million other scenarios. please always be careful if you decide to! please always take care of yourselves, love you mwah <3
reki is a disastrous drunk. or an emotional drunk. sometimes both. no in between. i see him clinging glasses with someone else but he does it way too hard that the glasses just end up shattering. tries skateboarding while drunk. nearly gives himself a concussion and multiple broken bones. he somehow ends up on the roof of the house? someone please get him off of there? also definitely the type to whine and sob, about his ex, about his current crush, about any current problem he has. just like ugly crying and taking a one second break to drink, then going back to ugly crying again. ALSO, oh my god. so fucking clingy and touchy. every person he sees, whether knowing them or not, he just runs at them with full speed and picks them up and spins them around. endearing but also kind of weird?
langa just gets like. so dumb. the alcohol fries whatever remaining brain cells he has. he’ll eat raw chicken if it’s in front of him. so unhinged like it’s actually kind of scary. he seriously has no inhibitions whatsoever. he’s not loud either like he’s just minding his business absolutely wasted but also please be careful because he just watched an action movie last night and he suddenly thinks he can do that one move where someone crashed through a window by jumping and kicking through. he actually tries to do it and doesn’t end up very far. as in, he lands on the floor. also says like the most unexpected shit? it can be so kind like he’ll just keep mumbling, “pretty, pretty, so pretty,” while patting someone’s hair and caressing their face but also will be annoyingly and scarily blunt.
please joe is 100% just so horny and flirty and trying so hard to be seductive. props to him for always walking away when a person says no, but at the same time, why would you do that in the first place fhksf???? he’ll flirt with one person, they turn him down, and he’ll be completely unfazed, turn around, and go, “hey there 😏” like keep it in your pants. ugh. he’s so fun to be around though, definitely. forces everyone out of their comfort zone, but in a good way. in a life is short, you only live once kind of way. also his tolerance is very high and he’s most definitely not a lightweight, so he 9/10 times is the designated driver lol. poor man wants to get his dick wet but has to make sure everybody’s home safe first. that’s life </3
cherry just loses his shit. the absolute complete opposite to what he’s normally like. becomes the most extroverted, loud, playful person you’ll ever meet, like all the energy he doesn’t use up in the day gets let out in one burst when he drinks. absolutely a lightweight. one sip and he’s gone, oh my god. makes bad decisions. very bad decisions. giggles when he realizes he’s made a bad decision. he’ll have everyone laughing in pure shock at how he is as a drunk, because it’s just so different from him sober? sober cherry would never agree to opening up an inflatable waterslide that leads into his home from the backyard. drunk cherry though? regrets everything the morning after. the cycle repeats a week later.

I Know You (better than you know yourself) by SpeedOfSnake:  After a skating accident, Langa loses some of his memories. All Reki wants is to restore their previous friendship, but wonders if has the right back into his life when it was his fault that Langa got hurt. chapters: 12/12 words: 64.5k
there’s a hole in my soul (can you fill it?) by vitane: Langa is a pro-snowboarder who’s dealing with grief. Reki has just moved to Canada carrying deep homesickness with himself. Together, they help each other heal their wounds. chapters: 11/11 words: 58.9k
he was a skater boy, he said—no, you know what, no, we're not calling it that by arahir: Everyone knows Reki and Langa are dating. Everyone except Reki, that is. chapters: 2/2 words: 8.1k
to build a home by thankskelley: The king, Langa’s father, died a year ago. It makes sense to form alliances. It makes sense to strengthen those alliances with marriage. Maybe it’s wrong for Langa to be so apathetic about his own wedding, but he can’t find it in himself to care. Reki is trying his hardest to be the prince his country deserves, to be the heir his mother can rely on. It’s difficult, however, when everything he does is so far from good enough. He’s also getting married, which is kind of a big deal. He can’t wait to meet the guy. chapters: 6/7 words: 61.7k
training wheels by mayflymusic:  After discovering that Langa never learned to ride a bike, Reki takes it upon himself to try and teach him. It...doesn't go well. chapters: 4/4 words: 9.7k
Love at First Sip by tamakibaby: There were two universal truths for college students that Langa had come to realize during his first semester: ‘8 AMs’ were a product of Satan himself and coffee (or any other form of caffeine, really) was man’s true best friend. So it came as no surprise that he stopped by the coffee shop every Monday morning before class and when he needed a pick-me-up. Whether the mood boost was due to the caffeine or the barista who was like sunshine incarnate and always spelled his name wrong on his cup, that was becoming harder to tell with every visit. chapters: 7/7 words: 22.4k
I've Got A Piece of Your Heart (But I Want the Whole Damn Thing) by Jenanigans1207: Reki asks Langa to translate the English writing of his soulmate and is left to wonder why, exactly, Langa turns so incredibly red as he does exactly that. chapters: 4/4 words: 29.8k
let go, take flight by babybluebells, maranch:  Happiness comes in many different forms. Reki and Langa find their own, in their figure skating and maybe, just maybe, in each other. chapters: 5/? words: 37.7k
if you kiss me, will it be just like i dreamed it? by sk8ingfrogs (cursedhazel):  Reki writes down everything he wants to do after graduation but doesn't quite remember putting "fall in love with your best friend" on the list. chapters: 1/1 words: 10k
read in between the lines by minfresh: The love letter is two sentences long. There isn’t even a Dear Langa, that’s how short it is. It covers approximately 10% of the paper’s surface area. The sentences get straight to the point. I have a crush on you. Isn’t that awful? It’s written in striking red, in an almost illegible handwriting. There’s no signature. For the first time in Langa’s life, he cares about a love confession. chapters: 1/1 words: 6.7k
Secret Admirers for Dummies: A Canadian's Guide to Falling in Love by discokonomi: Reki gets a secret admirer. Langa pines, wonders, comes to a realization, and stumbles into love. chapters: 1/1 words: 6.2k
Not Another Song By Avril Lavigne by alpha_hydra: Someone likes Reki, but they wish there was one tiny thing different about him. Surprisingly, Langa is the only one other than Reki who has a problem with this. Now with added love letters, confessions, bisexual crises, and dubious skateboarding knowledge. chapters: 3/3 words: 13.7k
Looking for You by IetjeSiobhan:  It is there, looking, for all intents and purposes, as if it’s been there forever: a snowboard, beautiful and delicate and in the prettiest shade of pastel blue. (soulmark au) chapters: 1/1 words: 3.4k
Pick Me Up by Venxvon:  When Reki asks Langa if he was going to carry him back, he means it as a joke. Langa, on the other hand, absolutely does not. (post ep11) chapters: 1/1 words: 3.9k
Double-edged by realfakedoors: Hasegawa Langa, a young noble with an unreasonable amount of responsibility about to be dropped into his lap following the death of his father, takes a season away from the northern province he's called home. He travels with his mother to Solaris, the kingdom's capitol and her homeland--it will do them good, she said. (She forgot to mention the part where they got ambushed by highwaymen on the way there.) Enter Kyan Reki, an apprentice blacksmith, who is just fulfilling a stupid errand for stupid Shadow, since he technically beat Reki in their last match at S. He ends up involving himself in the lives of some northern nobles, and before he knows it, he's thrust into a world of nobility and politics that might prove to be much more dangerous than any swordfighting could ever be. chapters: 3/? words: 18.2k

Adam/Shindo Ainosuke X Male Reader
Author's note : Adam needs a bit of love, don't you think? A little love that doesn't imply to hurt Tadashi. It doesn't prevent that it is certainly crap. English is not my main language and it must be awful.
Warnings : NSFW, spanking, degradation and all the BDSM pack.
Tumblr media
You were a newcomer, a rookie here. In S. You had the time to watch the local legends fall from their safe sky on the large screens. The most incredible was the race against Langa. Well... You were still wondering if his name was really Langa. Maybe you misunderstood, hidden in your shadows. First Joe, then Cherry and finally Adam. You had to admit their style was eclectic. Even them had to learn again. They were believing themselves as gods because they were the founders of a clandestin course. It made you shrug a little while you were observing them.
People were people. Here, in S, freedom was at its most powerful. A place were no one could say, order to someone something he doesn't want to do. Everything was ruled by skateboard and the people's talent. You were quite happy of that. Because of an accident years ago in mountains with your motorbike while you were heading to the summit so as to practice snowboard. You had the ambition to reach the Winter Olympic Games in half-pipe. You fell from a cliff and you miraculously landed meters below with broken ribs instead of your backbone.
During years you suffered and your dream of medals in the Olympic Games was gone, vanished into the air. Your well-known recklessness almost hurried you in your grave. In the hospital, you spent the last three years to reeducate with an omnipresent pain in your back, anger against the people who had forgotten you when you would have given them your soul if they asked for it an ended alone. You nearly lost your mind when you woke up from coma and nothing appeared in front of you. You weren't able to see anymore. Time went by and you found yourself offered the chance to remedy to your blindness. But it doomed you to wear particular sunglasses every day of your life. A little cost considering what you've been through.
You suffered. You were still aching but less than these last month. Moreover you felt better each day passing. Only eternal scars remain. And to be here in S got you like you were free as much as before your accident. And you would thank Adam for this. Yet, you meant nothing, watching the same scenes which were playing in front of your eyes.
You were sitting on your motorbike far behind the last people composing the crowds ahead of you. Actually, the last time you came at S was when Adam had been defeated. Since then, you weren't coming as often as you should now. Everything was more peaceful and Adam abandoned this bad habit to smash people in the face with his own skateboard. Of course, the blue-haired show-off would never stop to make his little shows and big entrances. You don't think that one day his "hey bitches and bros and non-binary hoes" would leave your mind so easily.
Yet, even if you admired Adam as an remarkable skater, you wouldn't prevent yourself to hate him for everything he was aside all of it. He was "in love" as he told to anyone who would like to hear it with his partners of race. It was nothing like love. You didn't know how you manage to not go through the crowds to slap him right in the face. He didn't understand. He wouldn't anyway. Love is sweet, a fluttering sentiment which set upside-down your guts and your soul. It wasn't how you remembered this wonderful thing.
Anyways, Adam had been defeated by a rookie that you had the power to crush on a snowboard. Even if he was talented, had he the talent of someone able to go in the Olympic Games? You didn't think so. You had yourself a modified board. And right now before the attended race between two opponents, you were as if you were playing on the half-pipe near the start of the race.
You were jumping even higher than this little rookie and executing figures in air that were turning sick some of the people gathered in your audience. You were hearing the slight gasps of awe coming from several girls watching them. Even Langa applaused you in the distance with an annoying smile. That little group comprehending Shadow, Reki, Langa, Miya and the others was sincerely uselessly noisy. Though, they were sometimes giving you back a smile you had long forgotten it was existing. But you didn't care anymore. You were busy with your "switched back flip with nose grab" and to make people applause even louder around you.
They were kind and cute because even if the trick wasn't so hard, doing it on a skateboard was something else. And it earned you the nickname of Eagle in S. You were impressive to say the least and people were clearly stunned. What you didn't expect was to attract the boss' attention here. Adam. Actually, his little grieves left you as if you were like marble.
Not only was he sticking to you but he also was quite insisting in his behavior. You didn't like him at all. It may have been the second or the third night that you came on the half-pipe of S. No one challenged you that time. You just shrugged your shoulders and were going on the way to leave this place. The pressure, the people gathered here, the races and the clear lack of delicacy from them made you get away from here. A sort of repulsion ordered you to go away. A skatepark would be big enough to allow you to do the same show for any passerby. After all what was the point of tiring yourself by skating if no one could applause for your demonstration of pure talent. And today, several nights after Adam's defeat, you were leaving S for good this time. It has no point for you to stay.
Yet, Adam didn't want the same. He was observing you before Langa. So he caught you up while lights were dancing around him.
"Mmh... What a wonderful little bird I see here. Don't be scared my dove, I'm not going to bite you." Adam said both loudly and sensually, thus it made crowds look in the same moment towards you.
A heavy silence has just fallen onto the crowds. You have heard the wheels of Adam's skateboard behind you. And he came, leaving his hand on your hips, getting you closer and closer to him. You could feel his hands roaming and doing delicate circles on the fabric of your clothes. Such an intimate action while you could almost feel his head rest on your shoulder. He made a little comment about your scent. Does this man have really no shame ?
"Aren't you tired of your own bullshit, Adam? Losing once wasn't enough to bring humility in you?" you snapped back while the man gazed at you.
"Never, my sweet, stubborn little dove" Ainosuke whispered in your ear while his hands were circling around your waists.
His sweet, gentle, poisonous tone was near to give you shivers. You weren't able to discern within yourself if it was a sort of trespassing desire that was boiling in you or a fire of rage and the deep will to smash him with your skateboard. Probably both. Let's agree on the fact that this man was a living invitation to luxury and rough love. You were just a little smaller than him but strong enough to make him comply and kneel in front of you like a slut. You clicked your tongue and forcefully escaped from Adam's treacherous embrace.
"Alright Eagle. I challenge you into a beef" Adam called behind you.
"Carry on" You answered back while the crowds become immediately silent were watching you with great interest.
"A race. You and me. Right now. The loser become the slave of his opponent." Adam added with his usual disturbing smile.
For one of the first times since you were coming in S, it was one of your first beefs. Moreover, with the boss of all that mess. And finally, it involved something hidden behind all of this display. And you liked it. Why not enjoying fully the race and the aftermath. You used the back extremity of your skateboard you hit Adam in the belly and making him move backwards. You were almost ecstatic. You walked calmly until the start line, put lightly your skateboard on the ground and set your foot on the deck while you were waiting for Adam to come. Obviously, he made his way towards you.
"Mmh... I'll enjoy to turn you upside down after this race" Adam sensually whispered.
"Your self-confidence will kill you one day, filthy man" you replied with a dry tone.
"Let's say that now that I've lost my Eve, the only person in S having my attention is you my little dove. Be ready, I'm not going to be easy on you"
These last sentences would the death of you. His magma-like voice was burning your insides. How can someone warm you up so efficiently? That was a mystery. But you liked it. Adam was well-known to be kinky. You hated a little yourself at that time. You were falling for an insane guy who is now targeting you. Obviously, it was not in a romantic way. Yet, Adam remained a reachable fanstasm. And you were apparently one of his. The green fire came rapidly, thus the start of the race.
Adam became fastly the first. You forgot about everything and just tried to have fun. You were skating as if your board was a part of yourself, dodging rocks and Adam's attack. You knew very well that he didn't change that much after his first defeat here. He even did his little thing of holding you close to him with the sort of horns on his skateboard.
" I love the movement of your hips, so agile, so smooth, I can't prevent myself to wonder what it will feel like to love you fully until you will ache for attention under my touch. You are a snowboarder too, right?" Adam asked more or less.
"You could say that. But I'm not like that kid. I prefer half-pipes. Besides, you have really no shame, haven't you? Anyways, goodbye."
You increased your speed and left Adam behind. You were jumping the cliffs where the turns formed the shape of a snake with the lights in the night. While you were flying, you were shining with more and more complicated figures and graceful landings, making you significantly ahead of the blue-haired holy creature named Adam. He managed very quickly to catch you up. A little smile was playing on your lips. That was funny to see him a little bit in difficulty.
You were provoking him. That was unbelievable and remarkably bold of you to do so. You annoying smile was allowing to build desire and longing in Adam's heart. He was the king and yet, a little dove was playing with him shamelessly. Adam was so mesmerized by your own race that he barely realized he was in the factory. The screams of the people gathered in there dragged him from his thoughts. He saw you fly until the finish line and cross it. You win against him. A huge silent welcomed him.
"One of the first things you have not to lose when you run is your own concentration. I don't know what happened to you but it doesn't prevent that you weren't really skating. So for the beef, I cancel the slave thing." You declared when Adam went towards you.
You turned your back to him and headed to your motorbike followed by the blue-haired man. You didn't want to stay any longer. Adam's footsteps were soft behind yours.
"How can you cancel the slave thing, as you called it?" Adam demanded.
Seeing that he didn't have any answer, Adam reached you to catch your shoulder and make you turn to look at him.
"Because I'm the winner" you responded with a threatening tone.
"So having me doesn't interest you?" Adam questioned with a spark of deception.
"I didn't say that" you replied with a playful half-smile crossing your lips.
You were surrounded by darkness and no one cared anymore about you. For the people, you were remedying with your little issues about the beef. Nothing very interesting for them. Your hand climbed Adam's tensed thigh before going backwards to his ass and caressing it shamelessly. You heard the man getting a heavier breath and mumbling sinner sentences in your ear. You didn't even move when he came closer to enjoy the caress.
"Adam... You are such a slut... Look at you, you sound like a virgin discovering sex" You told with an incredible amount of heat on your voice.
You left your fingers coming down on his half-hard dick and rub it lightly. Just enough to give shivers to the man.
"Horny, aren't we?" you carried on while Adam was melting under your touch.
It was only simple caresses yet the man in front of you was letting himself go as if you were escaping and he won't have anymore opportunities to have you so close.
"More" demanded Adam while he has finally what he wanted so hard.
But you stopped here, creating frustration in the man.
"There's a love hotel down Crazy Rock. Come with your Grim Reaper costume." You requested with an overbearing tone.
Adam ordered to Tadashi who wasn't present in S that night to bring him to this place and the black clothes he was wearing against Langa. Once arrived in the building, he headed towards the receptionist who led him until the room. The space was dark and very classical for a love hotel but it was enough to arouse Adam. He felt as if your hands were still on him while he was changing his red costume. The memory of your hands trailing down his back to reach his ass and caressing it shamelessly was still unbelievably strong in his mind. Then he felt the touch join his cock, gently but still enough to make surrender to your touch. He desired you so much right now. Once he wore his Grim Reaper clothes, he laid down the mattress. He let himself go to the warmth he was feeling. He already wanted you so hard. He thought he was still dreaming when he felt the sudden touch of your hand on his neck.
"Ready to cum due to a shameless imagination. What a dirty little pet we have here. Were you planning to touch while you would wait for me? " You whispered in Adam's ear, getting him to have goosebumps.
Your fingers went down along his spine then reached the start of his ass. You were riding him from behind, each of your legs apart Ainosuke's body. You spanked his cheeks violently when you see you wouldn't get your answer, making the man moaning of both pain and pleasure.
"Use your tongue. You still have one, right?" you picked up after this unwanted silence.
"Yes" mumbled the submitted man.
"Louder. I don't hear you."you commanded.
"Yes"
He was speaking at the volume you wanted to listen. Loudly but not enough to disturb people out there.
"Better" you acknowledged with a neutral tone.
You got away from the position you have over Ainosuke. You were looking for the bad you brought with you. In the corner of your eye, you remarked the presence of a mirror. It could be useful but not now. You were secretly impatient to play with the king of S. You glanced at him and couldn't prevent a half-smile on your face. His hips were slightly higher than what would be normal. The blue-haired man was aching for your touch. Unhappily, it seemed sometimes you weren't as mean as some of masters with their human pet when it comes to tough, rough and painful but delicious sex. Well... It didn't matter actually. Your beautiful puppy lying on the mattress would love it anyway. You sincerely enjoyed the fact that this natural dominant male was completely under your control.
"Get up and kneel. Be rid of your clothes and keep your eyes on the wall. If you look at me I leave you here, tied and with a toy in your ass until you faint. Is that clear?" You ordered with a severe voice.
You didn't get any answer immediately.
"Yes". You heard behind you.
"Yes who?" You added.
"Yes Master" Adam ended while he just worked to be in his knees over the blankets.
The man got rid of his suit not so quickly. The fabric was comfortable and smooth, suiting perfectly his body. The memory of your touch was almost disappearing with him leaving aside all the clothes. He ended naked on the bed, his pale skin revealed to the air. He kept his eyes locked on the wall and he didn't have any access to the mirror to watch what you were doing. He only heard some noises somewhere behind him. Adam was shivering litghtly because of anticipation. He didn't want you to be kind with him. The rougher the better. Anyways, love and pain were both the faces of a coin, right? He submits but you serve.
Ainosuke felt your hand climbing along his leg and rest a few seconds on his thigh. You slided a lubed toy in his hole. You went as deeply as you could without bruising you pet and without leaving without any sensations. His insides were slightly stretched enough to emphasize the rubbing which you started from a few feets away.
You had the time to change in a black leathery pants and high boots, all black, with an open shirt lazily flying along your sides. After that, you were just watching Ainosuke's nakedness from behind. He was well-shaped. You couldn't say more. And this beautiful insane man was craving for your attention. You knew the effect the toy had. The more Adam was holding back his moan, the more the toy is going to make him lose his mind. You knew very well that the man had a certain endurance. Yet, it had no effect when the right points within his body were touched and loved.
You were still gentle. You could be more cruel and less careful about your little pet. Adam knew it very well. He was sure he looked like a little virgin taking pleasure for the first time but the thing inside of him suppressed all of his strength. He was grunting and moaning like a whore and he loved it. But it wasn't enough. It wasn't you.
"More..." Breathed the man while his whole body was totally shaking.
"More? Really?" you asked while you were enjoying the frustration on Adam's face and the red hue on his cheeks.
"Inside me... Touch me..."you went to caress Ainosuke's naked ass before spanking it another time.
"You have no permission to cum, dirty pet. I'll punish you otherwise."you warned with a threatening tone in your voice.
The heat was slightly consuming the blue-haired man and pleasure was way too heavy for him, almost choking sometimes. You would be the death of him if it carried on.
"Please..."Adam silently begged while you were heading to an armchair not far away from the display in front of you.
Were you sadistic? Probably. You had one of your legs hanging on the side of your seat and watching Ainosuke fighting the destroying pleasure inside of him. You were so desirable. No one would ever say the contrary. It was only the start for your adorable pet. But it wasn't enough for you.
"Come here." You commanded with a monotonous but commanding tone in your voice.
You saw Adam moving to reach you. He stumbled on the few meters he had to make to come at you. He knelt in front of you but it sounded more like he wasn't able to carry his own weigh. He was looking up at you with eyes tainted of pleasure. He caressed your legs as any good cat would do to please his master and get some food or any touch. Your hand reached his chin and you lift it without any delicacy. A few more and Adam was going to surrender and leaving himself being overwhelmed by pleasure. His red eyes were blurry and full of lust and you locked yours on his. Your hand went in his hair and you brought him closer to you.
"Take it. And do it well, slut" you requested with an overbearing tone.
You felt shaking hands roaming over your leather pants and undo the belts resting on your hips. His fingers freed your half-hard dick but he was too slow.
"Faster" you ordered.
Adam put his finger on the skin of your shaft, then his lips. You hardly held back a grunt of pleasure while you were feeling his hot mouth around your cock. That was divine but not enough. You settled your fingers in Ainosuke's hair and pulled it closer.
"Come on, slut"
The blue-haired man wasn't slow but it wasn't fast enough and it frustrated you. You ordered him for more speed and he did it. Adam was all focus on your pleasure, worshipping you with his tongue and his lips. It was warm inside his mouth. You wanted to dirty your sub with your seeds and make him feel like a doll in your hands. Besides, you increased the speed of the toy inside Adam's ass. He was fighting tou bring you pleasure and not to cum. His whole body must ache but you didn't really care. You wanted more. You helped a little Ainosuke with his movements. His tongue was caressing you shamelessly, and he was all focused on you. You were almost fucking his throat.
"You are really a whore my pet. Worse than a dog in heat. Loot at you"
You led his eyes to the mirror not far from you. Adam moaned when he saw the image of himself. The red hue on his cheeks while he was taking your cock into his mouth. The sight was mesmerizing. Then, lower, the pre-sperm was dripping from his own sex. Adam wasn't able to suffer it anymore and the last image had been the death of his limits and he cummed lankily on the ground. His muscles all tensed relaxed in a few seconds. He spilled his white liquid everywhere at the bottom of the armchair while he was moaning with your shaft still in his throat.
You raised your hand and gave him an echoing slap which made the blue-haired man fall on his back, covered of his dirty sperm. You perceived Adam hard cock raising between his legs.
"Kinky whore. You are not even able to handle it, right? Such a disobedient little puppy. You'll be punished, you know that, aren't you?" you threatened with a sweet voice, penetrating under Ainosuke's flesh.
You were watching your pet getting up from his position on the ground.
"Be happy that I'm not going to order you to lick it, silly kitten. On the bed, now. Twenty whiplash, and if you are not obedient, I'll double that number. Understood?"
"Please Master, no!" Adam surprisingly begged with and hoarse voice to you.
"This is the cost for your insolence and disobedience. It could be a hundred so take what I allow you" You replied without any softness.
You gave the order to your dog to be astride on the bed, on all four. Adam settled over the blankets and stayed still. The man heard you get the tool in your hand. And without telling him, he felt a painful burn on his ass, followed by your hand which rubbed it. Ainosuke heard himself grunt to the sudden soothing caress.
"It was the first. I won't be that kind after. Count them. At any mistake, It'll be thirty"
You blowed him again and your sub was counting but it was painful and red traces were appearing on his skin. You weren't soft with him and appreciated his delicious reactions of suffering and adoration. The toy was still in his ass, driving him crazy from both inside and outside. Adam wasn't able to keep up anymore and at the end on the punishment, he fell over the blankets, naked, full of shame, pleasure and love. He was crying due to the overwhelming amount of feelings. His shaft was so hard that it was painful and he wanted freedom from you. His pants were perceptible in the silence of the room. The blue-haired man felt your hand on his ribcage and forcefully turn him on his back.
He saw climb over the mattress and settle near him. Your finger roamed over your pet's belly and touch his nipples, making him shiver and grunt. Your softness was welcome for Adam. His body was aching due to tension and slaps but pleasure was still present in his blood and adrenaline was keeping him conscious. Suddenly, the toy Ainosuke had in his ass had a different movement, more intense, more rubbing and making him moan loudly.
"Did you seriously think it was ended?" you questioned with a playful tone. "No. Of course not".
You got up and put yourself in a riding way. You pushed your shaft inside Adam's mouth and start to fuck his throat again. Fingers curling down the sheets and becoming white. Your sub was testifying of this pleasure. And you were too. Your hips were getting faster and faster and Adam's eyes were rolling backwards while pleasure was burning him. You were silently moaning and keeping your features still but it was hard when your little pet's tongue was that agile and smart to find the areas able to make you shudder. It felt like eternity till you finally cummed inside of Ainosuke's mouth. Your sub swallowed everything and as a reward you ordered him to change of position and to rest on his belly. You removed the toy from his ass and caressed it softly.
"Master..." called quietly Adam.
"Mmh?" you responded with distance in your behavior towards him.
"Please. Fuck me." begged silently the man.
Where was Adam, the king of S, almost undefeated? Where was the show-off, the insane guy? You knew very well where he was. He was subdued to every of your desire now, drunken by pain and pleasure, knocked by envy. He wanted you in the simplest way. The incubus became the innocent virgin and you were his master. Nothing was left from the skater man that you met at the nightfall. He was just a body aching for softness after a hardship, pleading for quietness now. And more sincere than he never had been until tonight. He needed you.
"Please Master..." whispered again Adam.
But his begging stopped when Adam felt your dick against his hole. A slight moan escaped from him and you started to bury yourself in him. His insides were warm and comfortable but so tight. The rubbing was divine and you could help yourself but start to fuck his ass very slowly to push him to worship you. Adam had his hips hanging a little in air as you were thrusting to give you both an amazing amount of pleasure.
"P-Please Master... More..." moaned Adam while you were almost hitting his ass.
It was so nice to see the man so submitted to his needs coming from you. You couldn't help yourself but started to thrust more and more quickly and fastly. The sound of your flesh against each other was echoing in the room and you liked it. You got rougher and rougher but it was still nice and finally, you let yourself be. You felt Adam's hole tightening around your shaft for the second time. Your hands slide down his hips to find his own sex so as to apply languid caresses. It was too much for him and his muscled yet thin body sank on the bed and you followed him in his climax not long after him.
You were panting heavily and your pet was actually nearly fainting. You took him into a warm embrace and rubbed his skin to soothe him. You didn't have the time for a real aftercare because he fell asleep immediately. You would wait him to take a needed shower. For the time that you had, you left him be.
Adam had been a wonderful sub. You were happy. But you didn't have the intention to stay with him. If he wanted you, then maybe you should have a more serious and deeper conversation. But now, it wasn't what you wanted.

(A/n: I HAVE BECOME A SLUT FOR THIS SERIES SK8 THE INFINITY GIVES ME SO MUCH LIFE EVEN THOUGH ITS STILL SO NEW! DIDNT HAVE TIME YESTERDAY SO HERES THE LATE VALENTINES SPECIAL WITH THE MAINS FROM SK8 THE INFINITY)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Langa Hasegawa
-Sweet clueless child is a complete idiot when it comes to love and to make it worse you’re dense to his advances.
-Met you at school with Reki and would try to be as close to you as possible, letting you borrow his board so he could enjoy your smile as you skated.
-Due to personal reasons you were extremely touch starved and Langa was more then willing to hug you all day long but he’d find himself staring at your lips in want.
-Once Valentines came around he felt like finally confessing to you despite the holiday being a total cliche.
-Decided to make you chocolates, unfortunately he kept burning the batches so he had to ask his mom for help which resulted in her finding out about you.
-Wrote a message on the chocolates himself despite his terrible penmanship and hoped you would appreciate it and accept him.
-Almost forgets the chocolates the next day since he overslept and was late for school, wishes you a good morning over texts and asks you to meet him at the front gates to talk to you.
-Was bombarded by fan girls at school that wanted to give him gifts and found himself bumping into someone, just so happened to be you, but he realizes that he knocked something out of your hands and it got crushed under another girls foot.
-For the first time ever he actually saw your face pale and tears prick the corner of your (e/c) hues, he growled under his breathe shouting at everyone to leave as he wrapped his arms around you.
-You didn’t hug him back, you just silently cried somehow not making a sound and he sighed seeing you upset.
-“I’m sorry they crushed your gift, were you giving it to someone?”, he tried to hide the jealousy in his voice as he wiped away your tears.
-You nodded your head before explaining that they were meant for him. He blushed of course but a goofy grin plastered itself on his face as he cupped your cheeks and slammed a kiss against your sweet warm lips.
-He pulled away leaving you a stuttering mess as he presented you his little pink gift box. You took it and opened it giggling at what he had wrote, “We’re already friends Langa.”, you giggled showing him his incorrect kanji.
-“N-no I-I meant boyfriend, can I be your boyfriend pretty please?”, he begged as if he still had no chance with you.
-You giggled and smiled again before cupping his cheeks and returning his sweet kiss from before. Successful Valentines Confession.
Reki Kyan
-Y’all already been dating but this was your first Valentines together so he wanted to make it special.
-“Gotta head to work bye Reki.”, you hummed kissing his lips sweetly before you skated away on your board.
-He smiled watching you disappear into the sunset but once you were out of sight he bolted the rest of the way home.
-He’s not your ordinary guy and he loves skateboarding so he wanted to protray his feelings for skateboarding and you into his next project.
-Stayed up day and night in order to finish it and rushed to your house Valentines morning to spend the day with you before he presented your gift to you.
-Treated you to your favorite ice cream shop and a shopping spree at the plush store where you excitedly bought all the cute anime and animal plushes you had been dying for.
-You presented his gift to him around noon by taking him to a very special skateboard shop that your dad owned, he got first dibs at all the latest equipment and parts he needed for future projects and you couldn’t help smiling as he gasped at your father for letting him keep everything he had picked out and wanted.
-Your dad dropped you both off at Reki’s house in a pick up truck since Reki and gotten so much and helped unload it while you went in to greet his mother and sisters.
-He ran to his garage to get your gift but started getting nervous thinking that you wouldn’t like it.
-“S-she’ll like it I know she will. (Y/n)’s always spoiling me so this will pay her back for being so wonderful to me.”, he thought hugging the board tight to his chest as he ran back in to see you.
-“H-hey (Y/n), can you come here for a sec?”
-He could hear you running towards him and smiled nervously as he hid the board behind his back.
-Has you close your eyes and places the board deck side down in your arms so you can see the custom design he made for you on the back.
-You absolutely screech in joy seeing the new board in your arms, you couldn’t believe it was actually yours. Reki has to grab you by the cheeks hold you in place and tell you it was yours like five times just for you to believe him.
-You can’t help but throw yourself against him to hug him and kiss his pudgy face all over while chanting ‘I love you’ over and over again.
-He’s so happy you like your new board, he’s so overwhelmed by your affection but he absolutely adores you and kisses you one more time before dragging you off to his room for a movie and cuddles.
-A dorky sweetheart you can’t tell me otherwise.
-When you both met in real life he absolutely adored you, sweet, kind, outgoing, and obviously taller than him, he couldn’t help the blush that rose to his face upon meeting you.
-You two were a match made in heaven but he couldn’t bring himself to confess to you no matter how hard he tried and then he found out you had a crush on a boy from your school.
-Helps you shop for the perfect gift for your crush despite it breaking his heart and finds himself still buying you something in hopes of confessing to you first.
-Doesn’t hear from you about your confession until the day after when your both playing online against each other.
-“Come on (Y/n), you could’ve easily deflected that! Don’t become a slime on me now player two.”, Miya yells into his mic regretting it immediately when he hears you sigh.
-“Sorry Miya I’m just not feeling it tonight, I’m gonna go to bed see ya later.”
-Your sad he can tell instantly from the sound of your voice, calls you on the phone to demand an explanation on why your sad and you burst into tears on the other side.
-“S-sorry...hkk...i-it’s just that I let myself get played. I got heartbroken yesterday by the guy I liked and I realized that I’m pretty much a weirdo that no one wants to be with. He laughed at me and tossed my gift out the third story window of the school and walked away with a prettier girl in his arms.”
-You don’t hear anything from Miya and sigh hearing the call end unbeknownst to you Miya was skating his way to your house as fast as he could to comfort you, his Valentines gift in his arms.
-You jump when you hearing tapping on your window and watch as Miya sneaks in with a little rabbit in his arms.
-“Then be my weirdo! Stay by my side and we can be weirdos together, you don’t need that slime ball when I wanna be the grand knight that protects my princess!”, Miya screamed extending the gift to you in hopes that you would accept his feelings.
-He feels the rabbit leave his hands and opens his eyes to see you smiling through your tears, he kinda panics and wipes away your tears with his sleeves and just holds you.
-He presses his for head against yours and sighs, “You don’t have to answer right now it’s just that...I-I umm...I want to be the Link to your Zelda i-if you know what I mean.”
-You giggle and hug him thanking him for his kind words and softly whisper, “I love you, Miya, and thank you.”, into his ear making him smile against your shoulder.
-Sweet baby boy!
-This dipshit works Valentine’s Day and forgets about it due to all the orders for custom calligraphy messages for couples.
-Annoyed by all the sappy messages and honestly putting half his effort in any of them.
-Forgets he has an interview that day until he hears a knock at his office door and you nervously enter.
-His heart races seeing you for the first time, you look so adorable in your business casual outfit, and your nervous smile has him falling over himself.
-“H-hello my name is (L/n) (F/n), I-it’s a pleasure to meet you Mr. Sakurashiki.”
-“She’s beautiful like a cherry blossom.”, he thought to himself.
-Overall the interview goes great, you’re just a year younger then him looking for a new job to pay for your new home.
-You surprisingly accept and he treats you to a rooftop diner where you both share a sweet dance under the moonlight.
-Laughs when he finds out you are jealous of Carla (his skateboard), you fume and decide to race him at S which shocks him because he didn’t know you could even skate.
-Absolutely loses it seeing you in your S wardrobe, a rather revealing kunoichi styled outfit that showed all the right parts leaving him wanting more.
-“Well Cherry Blossom let’s see what you can do.”, you smirked behind your fox mask.
-You end up slaughtering him in the race just from pure skill alone, Karla couldn’t keep up with your calculations and you won by a landslide.
-Gets jealous of the fan boys that suddenly accumulate over you once the race is finish, takes off both of your masks so he can kiss you silly.
“I won jealous cherry.”
-Unfortunately he was unaware of some bullying and self esteem issues you were having because of work so you patience with him dried out fast.
-“Huh baby cakes what’s the mat-“
-“If they’re so pretty why don’t you just stay with them instead of someone useless and ugly like me!”
-Regrets everything he said as soon as he sees you running away in tears, ditches the fans immediately and skates off to find you but you’re already long gone.
-Calls Cherry who has you weeping in his arms and groans as his old friend starts scolding him for being a ‘Heartless Dumbass Gorilla’.
-Hugs you as soon as he sees you practically tackling you and Cherry in the process and begs for your forgiveness.
-You pout and refuse to forgive him which in turn makes him sigh, he scoops you up in his arms and tosses you over his shoulder to carry you away despite your protest and skates off to the hotel.
-“I swear I didn’t mean to hurt you, I wanted to make you jealous and then spoil you rotten. This wasn’t how I wanted today but if you’ll let me I’d still like to spoil you and make it up to you.”, Joe admits in a soft voice.
-You agree hesitantly and he puts you down, cups your face, and presses a tender kiss against your plump lips. Smiles against your lips when he feels your cheeks heat up.
-Takes you to the hotel, chuckles at your shocked expression to the huge lavish room and invites you for champagne in the jacuzzi.
-Leans you against his chest and wraps an arm around your waist, whispers sweet compliments and praises into your ear until a goofy smile is plastered over your face.
-You appear again in the flower shop the next day, a bandage wrapped around your arm and a shy smile on your face as you walk up to him.
-He’s surprised to see you again so soon and prays that you didn’t recognize him from last night.
-You smile and press a kiss to his cheek, leaving a red stain on his cheek that has his face flaming up in embarrassment.
-You hand him back his cloth and a note and rush out of the store while shouting, “Happy Valentine’s Day!”
“H-huh well seems she did notice m-ehh... i-is this her phone number?”
white rabbit pt 3
langa hasegawa x gn! reader (pt 1 - pt 2)
anon: omg is there going to be a part three of the white rabbit ?? i liked it a lot but its ok if you dont want to write a 3rd part :D
⚠️ : mentions of blood (like from small cuts??)
theme: general
note: sorry if the part where they skated is badly written lol. ive not good with "action" scenes. 💀 anyway, here is part 3! i hope you like it, enjoy it, and thank you for reading! no proofread, sorry for any mistake. let me know what you think. :)
≫ ──── ≪•◦ ❈ ◦•≫ ──── ≪
Skateboards were lined up beside each other. Their owner stood on them with ease, readying themselves once the horns go off. The crowd watched with anticipating gazes. Whispers were thrown among themselves on who would beat who. Bets were placed. All eyes set on the young pair. Excitement and anxiety swim around the atmosphere.
Langa took a deep breath. His baby blue eyes looked over to his group of friends. Reki sent him a wink, mouthing "good luck" toward him. Miya and Shadow talked among themselves what the White Rabbit would do to Langa. Said boy was nervous, for the time during a beef. He was nervous. Going up against his crush. Was probably not the best way for first impressions. Maybe, just maybe a beef wasn't a good way to talk to his crush. At all.
Before the race start off, Langa turned to the other skater.
"[Y/N], good luck." Langa said, surprising them with a kind smile. [Y/N] blinked, repeating his words through their head before a click of the tongue was heard and their eyes narrowed.
"I don't need your well wishes." They started quietly, voice low and steady. "I'm gonna win and you'll be the one leaving S. Not me." Langa was taken back by their words. He picked up the broken tone on their last two words. "And it's White Rabbit to you and everyone else. We're not friends and we'll never be." As they spoke, the traffic lights above them, went on one by one. When it reached the third light and the horn went off at the same time [Y/N] said those last three words, they dashed away from the crowd and Langa, already starting to get ahead of him. Langa froze a bit, watching them skated away. His head repeated their words over and over. It made his heart stirred uncomfortably inside, a heavy feeling settled inside his chest.
"Langa! What are you doing!?" Miya called out, bringing the boy out of his thoughts. He glanced over to them. Miya's face scrunched in a pissed manner as Shadow and Reki stared at him confused.
"Ah... Sorry..." Langa mumbled before he prepared himself shortly and took off with ease speed. Reki watched with a frown on his face.
"What's up with him?" Shadow asked as they all watched the bluenette disappeared from their sights. Reki shrugged, turning to the other two.
"I don't know... He look upset for a moment there." Reki said, scratching the back of his head. "Langa," he started off, catching their attention. "He has a crush on [Y/N]." His voice was low, wanting to keep it between the three of them but Shadow was shock at the confess he repeatedly the sentence loud enough for the small crowd surrounding them to hear but Reki and Miya shut him off, whispers being thrown at him to quiet down. "You guys heard me right." Reki continued, pulling them away from the crowd and headed to the large screen displaying Langa and [Y/N] racing down the old mine. Langa was still a bit far from them it made the watchers believed he won't be able to catch up.
"A crush? On [Y/N]?" Miya started slowly.
"aka the White Rabbit of S?" Shadow chimed in.
"Adam's sibling!?" Reki jumped when they both yelled at him in unison, causing him to take a step back and held his arms up to defend himself. He nodded rapidly to answer their three-part questions.
Miya shook his head, disbelief written all over their face. Shadow crossed his arms, head shaking as he disapproved of Langa's crush on the other skater.
"That's absurd. Of all people, this slime likes [Y/N]!? Did he hit his head or something!? Not only that, what makes him think beefing them would get them to like him back?" Miya paced back and forth, hands moving everywhere as he rambled on.
"Heh. He probably wants to see if they were compatible. I mean, it's such a uncool way to talk to your crush. If it were me, I would have just show them my awesome tricks!" Shadow exclaimed but when he turned to the boys, he received nothing but deadpan looks. "Why are you looking at me like that!?" Shadow glared, gritting his teeth.
"Oh, please, you wouldn't have the guts to do that in front of the pretty florist manager. Much less talk without looking like a fool." Miya taunted, smirking. Shadow splurted out insults at the youngest. Reki chuckled awkwardly. The redhead turned to the screen, the camera set on Langa. His brows knitted down. Reki could see he focused on something else than on winning.
"Langa..." Reki muttered, fists clenched by his sides.
Langa turned a corner, catching up to [Y/N] and the skaters that watched by the sidelines down the narrowed racetrack cheered for him and the White Rabbit. Most of them demanding the skater in front of him to guide him through their thorned pit. Langa didn't want this. He realized that now. This won't get him anywhere aside skating against them. And from the way they spoke to him in that little time between them, it sounded like anger flowed through their voice. He wondered why. Has he said something wrong to them? Has he spoke to them in the past and pissed them off in any sort of way? Langa couldn't recall any moment approaching them. So, why did they acted cold towards him? Why did he felt hatred from them? It bothered him. It upset him.
[Y/N] clicked their tongue. They glanced over their shoulder and noticed the boy catch up to them with great speed. They won't lose. They won't leave S. They won't be strip off their title. Off their everything they built. [Y/N] won't allow Langa to win. They had to win. Their life was on the line. Just the thoughts of it eagered them to speed up. They lowered their stance, picking up speed. As another corner came to view, the rabbit swirled side by side a bit, bend slightly and turned the sharp corner. Their breathing quickened. They were anxious for the race to come to an end. They know they be should careful but they wanted to end the beef already and prove to Adam what they were capable of being S's White Rabbit.
Langa. It was all they heard from their older brother. It disgusted them. Made their skin crawled. When their eyes first landed on the bluenette and the way he skate, it left them stunned. [Y/N] never saw anyone skate like him before. And when they saw Langa go up against their brother that one night. The way he avoided his signature move, Love Hug had left them astonished. [Y/N] only got hurt terribly when his brother practiced Love Hug on them and when their aunts questioned the bandages and injuries on them, they lied by saying they fell down somewhere. Bruises were always left on their body from that move. And it envies them that Langa found a way to avoid it.
[Y/N]'s handa clutched into fists. They reached into their single pocket on the front of their hoodie. They pulled out a long rope. Small, yet thick enough to hurl it at someone. It was littered with small sharp pointers that resembled thorns. The rabbit turned half their body a little towards Langa. As he came up behind them, a few feet away, they threw the rope with great force at him.
"Argh!" Langa covered his face when the object was thrown at him. He felt small thugs on his sleeves. He ended up taking a step back, making him lose his footing on the board but Langa forced his body to calm down and steady itself. When he tried to shoved the object away from him, it scrapped small cuts on his cheeks. He pulled down his arms down, looking around. Due to his small step back, he slowed his speed down, creating distance between them. The boy looked down at his arms and noticed small tears on his sleeves. No cuts created on his skin, though. But he did felt a hint of liquid streamed down his cheeks. Langa figured he got some cuts on his face and blood trickled down but he was scared to see it. He didn't have time to faint at the sight of blood.
A smirk was visibled on their face. With Langa's fall back, there would be no way for him to catch up. They were nearing the factory after all. Where the tracks narrowed down with no room to move or do tricks. The thought of reaching the winning line clouded their mind, [Y/N] forgotten what Langa was capable of doing.
And speaking of the young man, Langa made a couple of shortcuts to reach the rabbit.
It was beginning to look more of a chase now.
A bluenette skater chasing a white rabbit with crimson eyes. The factory being their thorns of pit.
[Y/N] looked around. Their eyes widen when they spotted Langa once again catching up to them. "What the hell!? How!?" They exclaimed. Cheers were heard from around them in the factory. It pained them. They were supposed to cheer for the White Rabbit. Not a pathetic boy who followed the rabbit down the hole. With teeth gritted, [Y/N] faced the boy completely, a deep frown on their face. "I won't lose." They whispered, coming to a halt by the stairs the narrowed catwalk led to.
Langa frowned slightly, looking around and trying to come up with a way to avoid the rabbit. Yet the same moment, he wanted to see what they would do.
"Oh no..." Miya said. Reki watched with mouth gaped.
"They're gonna hurt him. Real bad." Shadow added in.
"Langa... Langa, careful!" Reki shouted out with both hands around his mouth.
[Y/N] reached behind their back pocket and pulled out two black containers the sized of their palm and shaped like the spade. A single outlined white rabbit drawn in the middle of the spade container. As Langa neared them, [Y/N] raised their hands and like the stopwatch the white rabbit carries, time seemed to slow down around the both of them. Langa's eyes widen as the arms were pulled down, fingers releasing the containers, watching them aimed down at the space between them both. Shouts were heard from around them. Langa looked down at the ground once the containers hit the floor. Right before his eyes and [Y/N]'s, who still stood by the stairs, off the board, glaring directly at Langa with hatred, the containers exploded. Langa squinted when he noticed black like-vines popped out of the containers. They were thick like the rope from earlier, covered in thorns-like pointers as well. But this time, they were a little bigger that it looked like a tangled mess around the catwalk.
The thorned vines decorated the rails. From a far, it looked like an arch entrance was created. Langa closed his eyes and covered himself as he skated through the vines. His clothes getting caught on the thorns that looked like were getting closer. They were shrinking. When Langa glanced up, [Y/N] was already skating down the track, more arched vines coming life around the rails. They were spreading like they had a mind of their own. Langa bit his lower lip back. If he keeps going through the narrowed path, he would be cover in cuts, badly. And once wrong move would leave him blind.
He was determined. He would catch the rabbit.
Langa picked up his speed, deciding to go through the vines until he could figure out what to do. Blood spilled around his clothes from the cuts that covered his exposed skin but he didn't care at the moment. His eyes spotted an opening through the vines. Langa took a deep breath and jumped with his skateboard on that opening, a part of the rails that wasn't cover by the vines and swiftly rotated on the rail. A breeze going through his hair. [Y/N] glanced at their side and watched in shock as Langa clicked the front of his board on the rail that hasn't been decorated with their vines and moved once again with the other side of his board and jumped to land in front of the rabbit, a few feet away from them. The vines behind them both now, still spreading but with no one caught in their webs.
The White Rabbit was in rage. Langa escaped their hole. Despite the damage he received, he managed to crawled his way out and get ahead of them. They couldn't do anything else. The finishline was up ahead. Langa and [Y/N] tried to gather as much speed as they can.
"No. No, no, no, no...." [Y/N] whispered, pushing forward.
Reki, Miya, and Shadow were at the finishline, cheered for Langa to keep going.
Friends. It must be nice to have them. The support one gets. Having fun with them. They didn't had many friends growing up. Always isolated to their bedroom. They weren't allow to attend school like their brother had. No even oversea school. [Y/N] was stuck doing homeschool. No one ever knew about the child who came from another mother. Their father made sure no information about them were leaked out. Their father only paid attention to Ainosuke, after all. Neglecting only [Y/N]. Their aunts' so-called love hurts them. They didn't like the way they disciplined them. It traumatized them. A "love" like theirs was no love. Images was all they care about.
It sucks. And it wasn't fair.
Life wasn't fair.
"No..." [Y/N] stopped right on the finishline. Hands limped by their sides. Cheers grew louder around them.
But they didn't cheer for them, the White Rabbit.
"You did it! Langa!" Reki yelled excited, running up to his friend and threw himself at him. Langa huffed as he catched him but winced in pain.
"Careful, Reki! He's hurt." Miya pointed out, running up to them with Shadow. Langa waved a hand dismissively.
"I'm fine..." He said, resisting the urge to look at the cuts. His friends sighed at his response, shaking their head in disagreement.
Langa only smile before he looked around, looking for the other skater. He glanced back at the finishline and spotted them standing them, skateboard still on the ground, one foot to keep it from slipping away. Their head hanged low. Langa picked up his brother and walked up to them, believing he could possibly talk to them properly.
"[Y/N]-"
"It's not fair..." Langa heard them, yet their voice was barely above a whisper.
"[Y/N]... Wha-"
"Congratulations, my SNOW!" a familiar voice announced, cutting Langa off. Said boy looked at the source of the voice. From the entrance behind the crowd, Adam waltzed in on his board. Like the first time they met. "You did it! You defeated the White Rabbit! How wonderful." Adam applauded, stopping in front of the two young skaters. "You finally caught the rabbit and dragged it out of its hole." Langa frowned. "And I'm sure that rabbit knows what happens when its loses." Adam glanced at his sibling. Their fists clenched together.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" Reki called out, taking one step forward.
"The white rabbit leaves Wonderland. Forever."
Sk8 headcannons because brainrot pt. 2
- everything Reki has ever taught himself has been because of the wonderful world of YouTube tutorials
- Kojiro wanted to get his ears pierced in highschool like Kaoru, but he didn't do it because he was afraid of tarnishing his image (which is ironic when he gets a massive tattoo later in life)
- Langa doesn't like cats because he thinks they're mean
- there’s a stray cat that lives near Langa’s house and even though he doesn’t like cats, he leaves out milk and some fish for it sometimes because he feels bad
- Langa has never had a pet except a goldfish he won at a carnival once that he managed to keep alive for four years somehow.
- Kaoru technically needed glasses in high school, but he didn't wear them because he just didn't care at the time (until his vision grew poor enough that it affected his skating)
- Miya gets called a furry by Reki on the daily
- Reki has some knowledge in video editing and has considered starting a YouTube channel
- Langa has a diary, something he started after his father died. At first he didn't really know what to write, so he would just talk about his day, but eventually he got to the emotions part. The diary was especially useful during his fight with Reki in which he was trying to figure out his emotions (it was also useful when he realized he might have an itty bitty crush on his best friend)
- Joe is the biggest dad friend of the group in terms of doting on the kids and giving advice and stuff. Both Reki and Langa come to him often for advice, and Miya hangs around his restaurant a lot.
- Langa has one (1) succulent that he has managed to keep alive for three years. Its name is Gary, and it may not be the prettiest, but it is not dead yet!
- Reki never tells his mother when Langa is coming over and she's trained herself to just expect a lanky Canadian to be wandering around her house at any time.
- It took Kojiro a really long time to figure out his sexuality (and that's valid!!)
- Hiromi has been hopelessly in love with his manager for three years and has tried on multiple occasions to confess to her, but either something interrupts them or there's some sort of misunderstanding about it. Those are his more violent nights at "S".
- After befriending Reki, Langa and Miya, Hiromi is a little more careful about his tools of sabotage during beefs (and he lowkey feels guilty for injuring Reki in the beginning)
- Kaoru and Reki are actually closer than one might think. Reki ends up asking him for advice just as much as he asks Kojiro.
- Reki can't do something mundane without his ears being occupied. He ends up listening to music or podcasts a lot when he does chores or is working on a board alone (but if Langa is there with him, he'll talk his ear off instead).
- Miya's family isn't particularly bad, they're just a little distant. They assume everything is okay because Miya's so successful with school and skating, and they trust his integrity (which makes it very easy for him to sneak out to "S"). He doesn't really talk to them (or anyone, really) about his struggles.
- When Miya and Koyomi meet, he shows her all his video games and suddenly Reki's little sister is a gamer girl
- Langa almost wore a long-sleeved top to the beach and Reki had to go make him change before they left ("you'll melt in that, are you crazy?!")
- Kojiro knew damn well that Kaoru had a business trip and that the gang was going to the beach, but all other parties were unaware. He just decided to tag along as to not be left out.
- Kaoru trims his own hair, as he finds salons to be ridiculously overpriced for those with long hair
- Reki dogsits for his next door neighbor sometimes, they have a shiba named Onigiri (rice ball).
- Kojiro’s pennant was a gift from Kaoru and he wears it literally all the time except in water (so it doesn’t get ruined)
- Reki’s father is pretty absent, so Oka takes it upon himself to look after him
- Langa occasionally picks up odd jobs in order to help his mom out with finances
- Langa’s favorite animal is dolphins. He had a phase as a child where he read like fifty dolphin books and it was his entire personality for a few months. Despite this, he has never actually seen a dolphin irl
- Reki takes really good care of his nails and Langa… does not. He bites them and it annoys the shit out of Reki to the point where he’s just like “please… just let me file them for you” and Langa relents despite the fact that he hates the sensation of getting his nails filed
- Reki sometimes talks to Langa about getting depressed and one time Langa is like “yeah I getchu” and Reki is just like “heh?” And Langa says “I mean my dad died and I was in counseling for like months after that before I came here” and Reki is just like “oh”
- Langa is Reki’s bi awakening and it takes him a hot second to figure that out
- sometimes Langa pretends to be more oblivious than he is, either for shits and giggles, or to obtain information
- Kaoru knows exactly how to seduce women, and occasionally uses this to his advantage. It just sucks because he’s not into women.
- Reki is super observant, but whenever Langa does something that’s an indication that he likes Reki, he’s just like “WELL MAYBE IM OVERANALYZING THIS CANT BE REAL-”
- Langa (in general) doesn’t feel the need to be super secretive about anything. He’s honest (sometimes brutally so) and doesn’t always think twice before he says something. This can be both good and bad depending on the context.
- Reki doesn’t sleep a lot. He literally has to go to bed past midnight, he absolutely cannot fall asleep earlier. He gets up at 6:30am every day of the week, even weekends. It’s just how he’s programmed.
- Kojiro used to go to the public gym before Kaoru commented about how unsanitary that was. Ever since then he got freaked out about going to public gyms (especially as someone who works in food services) and cancelled his membership. He bought his own equipment and works out on his own now
- Reki knows how to do rainbow loom. His sisters had a phase with it.
- Kojiro drew on himself with pen when he was bored in school.
- Miya has a habit of eavesdropping on conversations he’s not meant to hear
I have this headcanon that one day Reki and Langa visit Joe's restaurant after closing hours to catch up and hang out. At some point Langa leaves (like to the bathroom or smth) and Reki starts bragging about getting older and almost being an official adult and Joe's like "...I'm 28 why are you trying to make me jealous of you growing up?" And Reki's like "You're 28? Haha at least I'm not that old yet!" And Joe responds "28 is not old kid." And Reki once again brags like "I'm not a kid anymore that's the whole point!"
And, usually, Joe would settle down for a second and give Reki some brotherly advice. But..... Joe's tired you know? He just had a full day of hard work behind his back and Reki is being just a little too cocky and his patience is running out rather quickly, so instead of saying something like "It's okay to be young, enjoy your younger days while you can" like he normally would, he just sighs and pins Reki's arms to the table and tickles the crap out of him, saying stuff like "You sure you're not a kid, hah? Would an adult wiggle around so much like you?"
CUE Langa returning and being completely speechless at what he's seeing so he just awkwardly sits down and watches the scene in front of him unfold. Reki gets super embarrassed like "Joe stoP! Langa is here-" and he pulls wildly at his arms to try and get them free but Joe (knowing exactly what's going on here) has a death grip on his wrists and doesn't give a damn LMAO, he only stops after Reki admits he's still a kid.
That's how I headcanon Langa finding out about Reki being hyperticklish and over the next couple of days he can't stop thinking of Reki getting absolutely wrecked™ and he's so out of it that even Reki himself starts wondering what's up.
But Langa can't give a real answer because in what universe would Langa honestly admit "I can't stop thinking of your laugh" to his crush?! And he's way too shy to just say "scew it" and go for it himself. So instead he says he had an unusual dream, which isn't exactly a lie either because he was dreaming of Reki's pretty giggles the whole night and Reki isn't really buying it while Langa is just kinda wishing for an opportunity to see it again like-
I just think those two being nervously in love is really cute.
BIG BRAIN
BIG BRAIN IDEAS RIGHT HERE
Please, yes, Joe getting tired of his shit and wrecking him, and poor, pining Langa is just standing there trying not to freak out as he has a crisis over how cute Reki's laugh is.
Reki coming to him later, staring at him with that innocent, confused expression of his, asking what's wrong, and Langa's blushing and not meeting his gaze and stammering out excuses because he doesn't know what to say.
One day Langa gets up the nerve to poke him in the side after he makes some brag about skating, and Reki does this yelp recoil thing, a couple giggles slipping out. Langa immediately excuses himself to the bathroom, and just sits there for a while, trying to get ahold of himself because holy shit he's adorable.
Just,,,,, them.
Misunderstanding
Reki starts getting worried about Langa when he notices the way he's constantly looking at him during class; the window serves as a pretty good mirror actually.
He's not as happy as he used to be, but Reki has no idea why; at first he's almost sure it's because he's thinking about his Dad, so he decides not to ask questions. But then he realizes that Langa is hiding something from him.
He doesn't know what to do, he could ask, but doesn't want to press him... Or force him to tell Reki something he is clearly keeping from him for a reason.
As he tries to think about it, Kana, a pretty girl from his class approaches him with her friends; they're constantly asking about Langa and almost begging Reki to bring him to one of their parties (Reki usually wonders why they ask him instead of going to Langa themselves).
He's so worried that he mentions something to Kana and all the girls grin like they just won the lottery.
"I think he needs some love," she giggles, prompting Reki to look back in confusion.
"Love? What do you–"
"I meant a girlfriend!" She rolls her eyes, looking at Reki like he's an idiot.
Perhaps he is.
He's about to tell her that she's wrong, when he realizes that he actually has no idea; Reki is not sure why it hurts him so much thinking about Langa with a girlfriend, but... If that's what he needs, it doesn't matter what Reki feels.
"I think... you might be right."
"I am," she assures him, winking at him. "So you're gonna take him to the party this weekend? You two can meet a couple of girls there!"
Reki nods, despite of his own feelings, he's really not enthusiastic about it, but Langa is his friend and he wants him to be happy.
"Great! I'll text you later!"
When the girls walk away, giggling and whispering to each other, Reki notices Langa, waiting for him at the end of the hallway.
"I didn't see you there!" He grins, although he regrets it as soon as he sees the frown on Langa's face.
"Of course you didn't, you were too busy talking with your friends," he says, looking irritated. It confuses Reki, Langa doesn't usually get annoyed easily.
"I can introduce you–"
"No. Let's just get out of here."
Reki realizes something's wrong when they get to the park and Langa starts falling more than usual from his skateboard; his mind is clearly elsewhere.
After sighing, Langa finally stops in front of him, although all the irritation has vanished from his features, replaced by sadness.
"Reki, are you going to ask one of them out?"
"What? You mean Kana and her friends? No, no!"
Langa relaxes, the corners of his lips quirk up into a smile again and Reki finally sees what's going on.
He probably likes one of them and doesn't want Reki to ask her out.
"No, you don't need to worry about that," he says, feeling a little bit down after realizing that Langa has a crush on a girl from their class.
"Let's go back to my apartment this time," Langa mumbles, taking Reki's hand in his. "My mother is working but she told me we can order pizza."
"Sounds good," Reki says absentmindedly, thinking that the party will probably be a torture for him.
***
It takes a little bit of convincing for Langa to agree to go to the party. It confuses Reki for a moment until he reminds himself that it's just because Langa is not very good at talking with other people.
"It's going to be great!" He assures him, even though he doesn't believe it himself. "There are going to be many girls of our class there!"
"Girls. Right," Langa grimaces, looking at Reki like he's in pain. "You... you want to go, right?"
"Yes," of course he doesn't, but he's determined to make Langa smile like he used to.
"Well, if you want to I'll go with you."
***
Langa takes his hand as soon as they reach the house, prompting Reki to think he's feeling a little bit nervous.
"Reki, Langa!" Kana grins. "I'm so glad you decided to come."
However, she narrows her eyes when she sees their hands, but doesn't make any comments.
Without even realizing what's going on, they're introduced to a couple of girls and Reki is so focused trying to remember every name, he doesn't realize he let go of Langa's hand at some point.
Actually, Langa is currently at the other side of the room, surrounded by enthusiastic girls who seem to be overwhelming him with questions.
He looks tense; he's constantly looking around the room, looking for something, so Reki takes a step in his direction, but Kana grabs him by the arm to stop him.
"He'll be fine," she assures him. "You have to let him meet new people."
"Right," the redhead bites his bottom lip, wondering if he's actually the one overwhelming Langa.
Kana leads him to a couch, where a girl is giggling with a boy while sitting on his lap. Reki tries not to look at them and finds himself blushing.
"You're really cute, Reki," Kana chuckles, probably making fun of him for acting like that. "Not like other boys I've met."
"I hope that's a compliment," he mumbles, flustered.
"It is. Actually, I was wondering..."
"Reki, I want to go."
Langa's voice startles him, but his expression worries him; the boy looks like he's in pain.
"Are you alright? Did something happen?" Rising from the couch, Reki gets closer to his friend.
"No. I'm f-fine. I just want to go S," he mumbles. "If you want to sta–No, actually, I want you to come with me."
Even though he's clearly talking to Reki, Langa says the last words while glaring at something over Reki's shoulder.
"Please," he adds, softly, vulnerable as he stares back at the redhead.
"Of course, let's go," Reki smiles, taking Langa's hand in his.
He says goodbye to Kana quickly, because Langa is already pulling him towards the front door.
"Are you really okay?"
"I'm better now," Langa says, intertwining their fingers together.
***
"Is it just me or the kid is skateboarding more aggressively than usual?" Joe comments, looking at the monitors.
"He is," Reki agrees with him. "I don't know what's going on, but he's been acting weird lately. I took him to a party so he could meet girls and–"
Joe snorts, Cherry rolls his eyes and Miya frowns at him.
"Are you kidding me, right?"
"No, why would I–"
"Girls, seriously?" Miya stares at him in disbelief.
"Yes, girls! I don't understand why is that so funny to you!"
"Langa is gay," Cherry says casually, still with his eyes on the monitor. It looks like Langa is gonna beat Shadow again.
"Oh... Oh!" Reki suddenly feels like an idiot. He's Langa's best friend and he had no idea... "How do you know?"
"It's obvious," Joe says.
"Reki!"
He gets startled a second time that night by Langa. Reki wasn't paying too much attention to the competition so he didn't realize when it ended.
And suddenly, Langa's arms are all around him. He likes to embrace Reki every time he wins, which is quite a lot.
However, this time he lifts Reki from the ground, reminding the redhead that his friend is way stronger than he looks.
"Let's celebrate!"
"It's late, Langa–"
"Let's go to my restaurant," Joe offers. "I'll cook something for us."
He opens the restaurant just for them, although their friends sit on a table and leave Reki and Langa in another.
Joe puts a candle on theirs and winks at them before leaving. Reki starts feeling quite confused.
"Listen, Langa... I'm sorry for bringing you to that party... I just wanted you to meet someone. I wanted you to be happy."
Suddenly, a fond grin appears on Langa's face.
"Reki, I like–"
"Boys, I know... I'm sorry for not figuring it out before... I can do better next time. Just tell me if you like someone from our class... What's your type?"
"Oblivious," Langa chuckles, eyes glimmering with happiness as he takes Reki's face in his hands. "Funny, passionate. With beautiful, bright red hair. Wears hoodies, loves skateboarding more than anything, kind... Very handsome, has–"
"Alright, alright!" Reki puts a hand to cover Langa's lips. He's blushing to the tip of his ears. "I get it now!"
"Sorry, I shouldn't have–"
"I like you too!" He cuts Langa off, before the boy can start apologizing for it.
"Really?"
"Yes, you don't have to sound like–"
"I think I'm in love with you," Langa whispers sincerely, looking happy again. He's beaming at Reki. "Can I kiss you?"
"Yes."
Reki is not prepared for the possessive kiss, but he enjoys it quite a lot. It's almost like Langa had been waiting to do that for a while.
Someone clears his throat and Reki remembers that his friends are right there. Blushing, he pulls away, but not without noticing the way Langa chases his lips afterwards.
It's quite endearing.
Shadow is looking at them with a grin and tears in his eyes (for a moment Reki thinks he'll start sobbing) Cherry finally takes his hand off Miya's eyes and Joe leans over their table to put two dishes in front of them.
"Don't tell me you knew about this too..." Reki says, trying not to blush as Langa moves him easily to put him over his lap.
"About you two being idiots in love?" Miya rolls his eyes, but still smiles at them. "From the very beginning. Langa realized it first, by the way."
"That I did," Langa agrees, grinning from ear to ear, before kissing Reki's hand.
"Please, we want to eat! There's no need to be gross here!" Miya complains, although Reki knows he's actually happy for them.
Much later than usual, but here are my takeaways from Sk8 this week!
The art/animation was definitely looking a little off early on.
Joe's "Adam you son of a--" is how the Sk8 fam feels 100% of the time.
Joe carrying Cherry Bridal Style while Shadow pulls up in the car to take him to the hospital is a painful part of the found family trope.
Miya would have lost to Snake/Tadashi anyhow, but I think part of why he lost is because Reki and Langa weren't there to support him.
Shadow getting beat with a baseball bat while protecting his boss/crush was not something I had on my bingo card this week.
Langa at breakfast and school thinking of Reki :(
Reki getting beaten up by a bunch of random punks was something that didn't need to happen but did at the same time??
Master Oka dropping some hard truths and good truths.
Everyone visiting Shadow in the hospital is pure. Family~
Reki, I know you're going through shit but shoving Miya out of the way and leaving him behind is VERY uncool of you.
Langa waiting in Reki's room and going through his things immediately lmao.
Tadashi hitting Reki with his car and taking him to a love hotel was also not on my bingo card.
Also Tadashi has been hanging out with Adam too long if the love hotel was the first location of choice to take an unconscious teenager to 😭
RENGA IS BACK BABY YASSSSS.
For real, I love the "I wanna do (insert sport here) with you forever" as a love confession. Japan's laws and rules about are completely different than ours and it's a great way to get past that censorship.
ADAM STOP WATCHING THEM WITH A F*CKING DRONE. YOU ALMOST RUINED THAT BEAUTIFUL MOMENT.
This is thought for next week, but my sister who speaks/reads Japanese noticed that in "KING VS. NOBODY" that nobody was written in Katakana, which is how all their Sk8 names are written, and now we wonder if Reki's Sk8 name is going to be NOBODY 😬.
more renga headcanons!
head empty just renga thoughts. pre-relationship and mutual pining this time
- (based on the OP) langa and reki dance together sometimes when they’re alone listening to music, just being goofy. they slow danced once late at night and blushed a LOT
- since they’re often alone eating lunch on the roof langa worked up the courage to grab reki’s free hand while they were eating. he couldn’t look reki in the eyes and reki is so so fond. he gives langa’s hand a tiny squeeze and now they just. hold hands a lot
- they both are kind of touchy-feely because they’re crushing mad hard and since they’re idiots they both just wonder if it’s the culture difference. maybe in canada it’s normal to brush your hands together all the time and pet your bestie’s head and maybe in japan it’s normal to play with your friend’s hair and cradle their face
- while reki has more of them on his phone than langa, both boys look through their photos and videos of them together frequently when they’re pining harder than usual. there are plenty related to skating, but they also just take pictures of each other when they do things like going out to eat, burger in one hand and doing a peace sign with the other
- the rest of the crew as well as langa’s mom and reki’s mom and sisters know that both of them are in love and tease them about it, more subtly when they’re both present with the exception of miya being miya. they’ve been referred to as lovebirds far more than once
- langa isn’t super talkative of course, but when he starts complimenting reki the redhead has to physically make him be quiet out of embarrassment. langa loves telling reki how important he is and reki admittedly loves hearing it because it’s langa (which is pretty much canon anyway)
You Are My Sunshine
It’s here! The fanfic based of off this post of mine
Find it on AO3 here
1 - Langa
Langa wakes up in a cold sweat, gasping. His room is plunged in darkness, only the faint glow of streetlamps outside his window filtering through his blinds. In a daze, he reaches for his phone, blinding himself as he opens it to check the time. 3:28 am. There’s school in the morning, Langa knows this, but he isn’t sure he’ll be able to fall back asleep. The dream is starting to fade, the once sharp images starting to blur together, but it keeps him awake. Or rather, one image sticks with him, keeping his eyes wide open: Reki’s bright smile. Langa had been dreaming of Reki.
It isn’t uncommon for Reki to pop up in Langa’s dreams – all of his friends would pop up from time to time – but this time, it was different. It was just Reki and nothing seemed to have been really happening. Nothing Langa could remember, at least. But Reki had been there, smiling as he always did. He had been smiling so bright, like the sun. Sunshine, Langa thought at the mental image of his best friend’s grin. Reki with his crooked front teeth, smiling so big. Sunshine, as he smiled at Langa. A smile all for Langa, only for Langa.
Langa lies there, staring at his ceiling. Sunshine, Reki is my Sunshine. That alone has Langa smiling in the darkness of his room. He tries biting the smile back, but he can’t help it. Anyway, no one is there to see him smiling like a fool to himself.
Snippets of the dream come back to him before vanishing once more: the warm wind in his hair, the swirls of pinks and purples and reds in the sky behind the pair, the feel of Reki’s calloused fingers tightening around his own, the brightest smile Langa’s ever seen. They come and go like waves crashing against a beach. The beach. Sunshine.
Langa shakes his head before flipping onto his stomach and burying his face into his pillow. He needs to get the mental image out of his head. He can’t keep thinking of Reki like this. His heart can’t take it; his head is screaming. If he had known that he would end up dreaming of Reki like this, dreaming of his smile, dreaming of his mouth, dreaming of his lips, Langa would have shut down the possibility of Reki liking him back ages ago. But here he is at 3:37 am, thinking of Reki, thinking of how his dream would have ended. The last thing Langa remembers is Reki’s fingers against his burning skin, their bodies so close. Sunshine. It’s all Langa can think of. My beautiful Sunshine.
Langa needs to sleep, but he can’t bring himself to close his eyes. Whenever he does, he sees Reki, Reki so close, and he dreams of what it would be like to kiss his best friend. Would Reki be kind to him, kissing him gently under the setting sun? Would Reki hold him when Langa would inevitably tense, afraid of having messed up? Would Reki smile into the kiss, his beautiful smile pressed to Langa’s lips? Probably not, because Reki wasn’t going to kiss Langa. At least not in real life. In Langa’s fantasies, then maybe his Sunshine would be gentle and kind and loving. In Langa’s fantasies, Reki would love him as much as Langa loves him.
It’s 4:17 am when Langa checks the time again. He still hasn’t managed to fall back asleep. He contemplates texting Reki, but he knows the boy is asleep. And if he isn’t, well, he should be. Unlike Langa, Reki doesn’t need all that much sleep to be functional. He could be bouncing off the walls with only three hours of mediocre sleep – Langa knows he becomes moody if he doesn’t get his 7 hours of sleep.  And unlike Langa, Reki refuses to put his phone on silent when he goes to bed which means that, if Langa did decide to text him, his phone would buzz and wake him up. So Langa doesn’t text Reki. He can’t continue thinking of Reki this much. He can’t afford to lose more sleep over this. Aren’t crushes supposed to go away after a few weeks at most?
Langa flips to his side, pulling his blanket over his head. He needs sleep. He needs to stop thinking of Reki. He needs to stop thinking of him as his Sunshine. There’s school in the morning. There are assignments he has to work on. There are new tricks Langa wants to try on his skateboard. There’s the inventory to do at work. Anything but Reki. Anything but his bright grin. Anything but his smile against Langa’s. Work. School. Skateboards. Or nothing. If everything went away, maybe Langa would finally be able to drift back to sleep. If he thinks of nothing… as long as it isn’t Reki… he can sleep… he can dream of a pink and purple and red sky… he can dream of…
2 - Nanako
The sun is high in the sky as Langa walks next to his mother. The warm wind is kissing his face, pushing his hair back for him. It’s a nice day to be out. It’s a nice day to spend with his mother; it feels like forever since the last time he accompanied her to the grocery store.
Nanako is walking by his side, asking him about what he wants to eat so she knows what to buy. Langa shrugs. He isn’t picky, anything his mother makes is good with him. She chuckles, saying something about him never changing. Langa doesn’t quite get it, but he simply nods. He never knows what to tell his mother. He never really knows what to tell anyone.
He follows her into the grocery store, a few steps behind her. People are brushing past him, young and old. Langa likes watching people, wondering what their lives are like. Sure, their faces all blur together, and the moment he’s looking away, he forgets about them, but he likes wondering what it’s like being someone else. He likes watching the old couples walking together, going on with their little lives. He likes watching the mothers juggle their children, sometimes giving in and buying the packs of cookies that are presented to them, sometimes scolding their children for taking things they don’t need off the shelves. He likes watching the groups of teenagers counting their coins, making sure they have enough for the snacks they want. Everyone has a different life, a life Langa will never know. Everyone is different and Langa finds that concept fascinating.
Langa watches as his mother picks up a few vegetables. He isn’t sure what the difference is between them, both leafy and green, but his mother seems torn. He points to the ones on the left which seems to satisfy Nanako. She says something about the many ways she can use it and Langa nods. He knows he’ll forget in an hour, but he still listens. He likes learning. He wants to be able to make meals for those he cares about.
They move around the grocery store, Nanako talking, explaining, planning the meals of the week, while Langa listens. It’s often like that, Langa just listening. He knows he should speak up a little more, voice his opinion, answer his mother with more than a curt nod or a shake of the head. He knows he should try to hold a conversation with her, but he can’t bring himself to do it. Something about having to talk, it makes him tense. He never really liked talking all that much. He rather just listen to others. They were always more interesting than him.
“I wish I had made more traditional dishes when you were younger,” Nanako says half in English, half in Japanese as she picks more vegetables from the stand. It’s a bad habit that she and Langa have, mixing the two languages when they talk to each other. “I feel like you missed out on that and now I’m paying for it. I never know what to make, always afraid you won’t like it.”
“I always like what you make.”
“I know you do, but that’s because I always make the same things. And when I do want to make something new, things I used to eat at your age,” Nanako sighs, putting back the package she had picked up. “It never comes out right and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Even when I follow recipes, they’re never quite how I want them.”
Langa doesn’t know what to say. He thinks back to what his mother used to give him back in Canada and he realizes there really weren’t that many traditional Japanese dishes. He remembers eating lots of rice with his meals, but the dishes themselves weren’t Japanese. They weren’t even Asian-inspired most of the time. They were what he had always considered normal, no name associated with them. He remembers when eating shitty Chinese takeout was considered exotic.
“I like what you make. I’m not picky.”
It isn’t a perfect answer, probably not what his mother wanted to hear, but she takes it. She smiles at him, chuckling lightly as she pats his arm.
“I know you aren’t. I’m very lucky that you aren’t.”
“And,” Langa’s voice surprises him, but not quite as much as it surprises Nanako. Still, he finishes his thought. “I could always ask Sunshine’s mom for pointers on how she makes her dishes. I’m sure she would be more than happy to help you.”
Nanako is looking at him, an eyebrow raised and an amused smile playing on her lips. The silence that falls between them is shattered the moment Langa feels his heart pound in his chest and his ears. He can feel the blood rushing to his face as he’s waving his hands around frantically.
“Wait! No! I didn’t mean-! I mean, Reki’s mom! I’m sure she-!”
Langa bites the inside of his cheeks, ducking his head in embarrassment. He can see everyone around looking at him funny, at his English outburst. They quickly return to their lives, completely forgetting about Langa, but he doesn’t forget. Not when his mother is laughing at him, patting his arm affectionately. Not when he still hears his words ringing in his head. Sunshine. Sunshine. Sunshine. He wasn’t supposed to say that.
“We’ll talk about this ‘Sunshine’ when we get home, hm?”
Langa wants to die. He does not want to talk about this ‘Sunshine’ when they get home, but he simply nods, trailing behind his mother like a little kid afraid of getting lost. He’s almost 18, but he feels like he’s 10 again. He feels so small with everyone looking at him. He knows they aren’t, but still, it feels like they’re judging him. Judging him for his loud voice. Judging him for the pet name he had picked. Judging him for calling his totally only platonic best friend Sunshine.
So he makes himself small, refusing to talk unless addressed by his mother. He isn’t sure he would survive if he embarrasses himself another time.
3 - Reki
The cold air feels wonderful against Langa’s flushed cheeks. It tangles in his sweat-drenched hair, pushing it out of his equally sweaty face. He’s hot, he’s panting, but he’s high on the thrill of the night. He doesn’t feel the exhaustion, even if he knows his body is ready to give in completely.
Another race won for Langa, not that he cares much for his winning streak. It’s more about going against new challenges for him, rather than actually winning. Not that he doesn’t like the feeling of winning! He loves that thrill, especially when it’s Reki grinning at him, pumping his fist in the air, and screaming that Langa won. But his favorite part really is the novelty of each race, never having the same tricks pulled on him twice. He loves having his mind racing, trying to figure out his opponent’s next move, as the wind hits his face. He loves being kept on his toes, both literally and metaphorically.
Langa’s mind is in a blissfully hazy state as he walks next to Reki, their shoulders bumping, their hands occasionally brushing against each other. Reki is talking – Reki is always talking – his hands waving around as he does. The street is deserted, their neighborhood plunged in darkness and silence, but it still feels lively because Reki is there. Reki is there to brighten everything. Reki and his enthusiasm, going on and on about the way Langa had swerved, the way he had jumped, the way he had won. Reki and his bubbly personality that is just like the sun.
Langa knows they should just go home, maybe both crash in Reki’s room, a sweaty mess of giggles and pants, but he finds himself tugging Reki down another street. Reki doesn’t resist; Reki never resists. Even if they’re both exhausted, muscles aching from all the physical strain of skating, they’re make their way down the street, kicking rocks under half-dead streetlamps. Being outside just feels nice. The cool breeze, the freedom of the night, Langa likes it. And he gets Reki all to himself for just a little longer. Langa likes having Reki all to himself, with no one there to interrupt them.
Langa’s stomach lets out a loud grumble, a pain piercing through him. Hunger. He’s always been a big eater, the perfect stereotypical teenage boy, but his mother has always understood. He was always out and about, burning all his energy on his board. First it had been snowboarding, now it’s skating. And after tonight, it’s understandable. He had given it his all, after all.
Reki nudges him, giggling like a fool. Langa feels his stomach flip when Reki snorts, his hands covering his mouth immediately after. But he’s still giggling, pitchy and breathy, and Langa falls. He falls for this boy, this boy who’s always been insecure about his laugh, this boy who’s always muffled his laughter whenever he felt it get uneven, this boy who trusts him enough to laugh so freely, snorting and giggling. Langa falls even deeper in love with this Sunshine of a boy. Langa loves Reki. Langa loves Reki and Reki doesn’t know this as his fingers tangle with Langa’s, pulling him along as they walk towards the closest open fast-food joint.
Langa isn’t sure of what he’s doing. His mind is hazy, clouded by the feeling of Reki’s calloused fingers against his own. He can feel every scar carved into Reki’s palm, soft and rough and everything in between. All he knows is that Reki is still talking, that he’s still grinning, that he’s pulling Langa along. All Langa knows is that he would follow Reki to the end of the world if it came down to it.
“Are we getting burgers, Sunshine?”
Reki’s eyebrows furrow. He’s staring at Langa with a funny look on his face. But his smile doesn’t falter. Well, maybe it does. His smile is there, but it’s not quite the same. It’s not crooked teeth and laughter. It’s questioning as he stands there, right next to Langa. It’s-
Langa feels his insides flip. Everything squeezes inside of him. Sunshine. His throat dries. It closes up. Sunshine. This isn’t his mom who simply teased him about the name. Sunshine. This isn’t a stranger Langa would forget about within the hour. Sunshine. This isn’t his head or his heart. Sunshine. This is Reki. This is Reki who now knows about Langa’s shameful secret. Sunshine.
Langa couldn’t deny that Reki was a Sunshine because it was the truth. He was bright and happy and warm and essential to Langa’s life. Reki was sunshine, but saying it out loud, saying it to his face, it was truly admitting, fully putting his feelings out there. It was admitting that his feelings were real. It was Langa finally, truly acknowledging that what he felt for Reki was more than puppy love, more than a schoolyard crush. Sunshine had always been Langa’s entryway into love, whether he liked it or not. Sunshine was Langa admitting that he thought a little too often about Reki, a little too intensely, a little more than just platonically.
Pretty laughter breaks from Reki’s lips as he nudges Langa’s shoulder. His hand had slipped away from Langa’s and Langa already misses its heat. He feels cold now in the night air. Reki knows what Langa said. Reki knows that it’s weird. Reki is uncomfortable. Langa messed up again. He always messes up.
“Sure, dude! Man,” Reki bumps his shoulder against Langa’s once more, flashing him a grin, “I’m starved. You payin’ or is it on me tonight? I can’t remember who paid last time.”
Langa blinks a few times as he matches Reki’s pace. Reki isn’t saying anything about the name. He isn’t saying anything about Sunshine. Maybe, somehow, Reki didn’t notice. Maybe he doesn’t find it weird.
“You,” Langa feels his throat clog, but he pushes through his awkwardness. “You don’t mind that I called you Sunshine?”
“Why should I?” Reki’s eyes are big and they glow under the flickering light of the streetlamps. Crooked teeth show again. “I mean, it’s not some weird thing, is it? It’s not an English insult, is it?”
Langa is hit with a wave of relief as he shakes his head. Reki is oblivious to the meaning of the name. Sweet, oblivious Reki. He doesn’t know how much Langa loves him.
“No, no it’s not. It’s just… a nickname? I guess? It’s not mean. It’s a nice thing to be called.”
“Then you can continue calling me that, if you want!”
Sweet, oblivious Reki. He doesn’t know what he’s doing to Langa, but that’s alright. It’s alright as long as he’s still walking by Langa’s side, his warm hand brushing against Langa’s cold one. It’s alright as long as he’s still smiling, bright and beautiful. It’s alright as long as they don’t change. Langa doesn’t want them to change. He loves Reki and that’s alright. He loves Reki in every way possible.
4 - Miya
There’s an electric feel fizzling through the air, energizing everyone at S. Langa watches the skaters, the ones that stand on the sidelines, staring at their phones, the ones screaming with their friends, the ones challenging each other. Langa watches all the different dynamics, all the different people he doesn’t know. He knows he has been challenged by a few of these people, he knows a good number look up to him, but he doesn’t know any of these people. He knows none of the people he’s looking at. None except his friends who are standing by the starting line.
Through the noise of the crowd, Langa can hear them loud and clear. All the other noise filters out, only Reki and Miya’s voices standing out as Langa gets closer to the pair. They’re bickering as they always do before a race. Reki is teasing Miya, his bright smile turned something mischievous. Langa loves how Reki treats Miya the same way he treats Koyomi. He teases, poking at the younger boy, but he’s never mean. Reki knows how to get under Miya’s skin, but it’s all fun and games. Miya is never mad at him, even if he does react like he is, crossing his arms, his face scrunching as he spits out insult after insult. And Reki laughs those insults off, patting the boy’s head.
“He’s thirteen; it’s just how they are at that age,” Reki had once said when Langa asked if it bothered him, all the things Miya had said to him. “Koyomi is worse. She really knows where to hit for it to hurt. Like, literally and with words. She’s ruthless.”
So Reki simply stands there, smiling while Miya tells him that he’s going to lose in his smug little voice. And when the boy’s voice cracks on the last word, his whole face flushing, Reki simply chuckles, patting his arm.
“Alright, sure. But don’t be surprised when you have to do my English conjugation homework later. You know, when you lose?”
Miya whips around to face Langa who’s just standing there, quiet and awkward, watching his friends bicker and trash talking each other. The boy’s face is red and scrunched. Langa wonders if he’s actually getting worked up or if it’s just Miya being Miya, a kid learning to deal with his emotions.
“Tell the slime that he’s going down!”
Langa shrugs. Both his friends are amazing skaters. So he says that. Miya doesn’t seem to like that answer, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he huffs, but Reki’s grinning and that’s all that really matters. Because in the end, he knows that the two will have fun, no matter who wins and who loses.
Reki checks his phone. It’s almost time for their race to start. Miya is shifting his weight from side to side. He isn’t nervous, he insists that he isn’t, but Langa knows better. Langa knows that despite what he says, Miya takes these competitions very seriously. Miya likes winning. Miya wants to win. Miya feels good when he wins. It’s the way he calculates if he’s good enough or not. Langa and Reki had tried changing that way of thinking, but it’s harder than it seems. Still, Langa wants Miya to know that it’s not all about winning. That’s why he’s patting the boy’s back, smiling down at him.
“You’re going to be amazing, Miya. You always are. No matter if you win or lose. You’re a great skater.”
Miya ducks his head, his hood hiding half of his face. He’s like Reki when it comes to being praised. He blushes and hides, but he likes them. He likes being reassured. Both of them do, but Reki is harder to praise. Reki won’t hesitate to shut Langa up, his hands clasping over Langa’s mouth for him to stop talking. One day, Langa will get through to him.
“And you,” Langa moves to Reki, squeezing his shoulders as he smiles. It’s easy to smile around Reki. “You’re going to do great. Like always. So good luck out there, Sunshine.”
Reki grins – Reki always grins – as he nods, grip tightening around his board.
“Sunshine?” Miya’s voice is loud and clear and judging. “Really? You…” He scoffs, kicking at the rocks on the ground. Langa doesn’t need to see him to imagine his figure, hands stuffed in his pockets, face pinched and judging. Always judging. “That’s so gross, you slime. Of all the names you could have picked, you go with something as cheesy as Sunshine?” A gag. “Gross. And I can’t believe it!” A voice crack. “You guys could have at least told me that you’re dating each other! How long have you been hiding this from me?”
Langa doesn’t see Miya. Langa doesn’t see anything, actually. He can’t move. Everything freezes. Everything feels distant. His insides twist as the boy keeps talking. His heart stops beating in his chest. His throat clogs up. He feels sick. Langa is going to be sick. Langa is going to be very sick very soon.
Everything possible went wrong. He doesn’t know why he’s surprised at Miya’s reaction. He knows that Miya is pretty fluent in English. He knows Miya spends a lot of time playing video games online, playing with people from all around the world. He knows Miya spends a lot of time on social media. He knows that Miya isn’t a native English speaker, but that he’s somehow better than Langa in English. He knows that Miya understands him whenever he says anything in English.
But Reki doesn’t know. Reki never knows what Langa is saying. Sometimes even when Langa is speaking Japanese, Reki stares at him like he just blurted out 100 digits of Pi or tried explaining the quadratic formula. Actually, no, because Reki understands that. Reki knows math. Reki is amazing at math. But he’s horrible when it comes to languages. Reki is terrible at English because words are hard for him. Letters are weird to him. What’s the difference between a p, a d, a q, and a b? They all look the same to Reki. So Langa can get away with blurting things out in English around him. Reki just accepts that he doesn’t understand and it doesn’t seem to bother him. Because Reki is amazing at math, but he sucks at languages.
“Langa?”
Langa is gasping for air. Everything is blurry. Everything except Reki’s hand on his arm. Reki, the way his fingers are digging into Langa’s skin. Everything is blurry, everything is hazy, everything is choking Langa, everything except Reki. Reki and his warmth. Reki and his kindness.
“Langa, you good, man?”
Reki is crouching next to Langa, steadying him on the uneven ground. He hasn’t let go; he doesn’t seem like he’s ready to let go any time soon. And for that, Langa is grateful, even if his breathing is uneven and difficult. He’s grateful, but guilt twists in his gut. He can see it, he can see the panic in Reki’s beautiful bright amber eyes, the uncertainty, the anxiety. He can see Reki growing anxious, but he can also see how he’s pushing all of that away for Langa. Langa can see Reki pushing away all his own feelings, all his own emotions aside for him. He’s trying his best to be there for Langa as this overwhelming feeling grows, hazing everything around him. Faces blur, Miya’s voice drains out, even Reki’s face starts going fuzzy. One, two, three, Langa tries counting the freckles on Reki’s face. One, two, three, Langa tries calming himself. One, two, three, Langa’s never felt this before. One, two, three, everything is wrong.
He can hear them, the distant voices of Joe, of Cherry, even of Shadow. Langa doesn’t understand what they’re saying, but he can hear them. He can hear Joe, his deep voice rumbling through the air. He can hear Cherry, his dry voice growing nearer. He can hear Shadow’s loud and rough voice, a voice that’s always made him wince ever so slightly. And then there’s Miya. He can hear Miya again. He can hear Miya’s frantic, panicked, defensive words. Words he doesn’t understand. Are they in English? Are they in Japanese? It’s probably Japanese; they are in Japan after all. And then there’s Reki. Reki’s soothing, calming voice snapping as he turns away from Langa. His kind eyes had turned hard as he turned at the young boy. And his voice… Langa had never heard Reki sound like that.
“We’re not dating, so cut it out, Miya!”
They’re not dating. The words ring in Langa’s air. They never will date. Reki doesn’t like him like that. Sweet, beautiful Reki, he doesn’t love Langa the way Langa loves him. He doesn’t even know that Langa loves him so much. Beautiful Reki with his big amber eyes. Beautiful Reki with the prettiest laugh, especially when he snorts. Langa loves him and he doesn’t know because he never will love Langa back. Not like that, at least.
The crowd that had formed around Langa and Reki and Miya starts to thin out. Langa’s vision is starting to come back as his breathing slows. The colors aren’t blurring together as they had been moments prior.
He can see Joe pushing people away. They don’t resist; Joe has that power, people never question him. Shadow is helping him, though he’s more intimidating, scaring people away rather than ushering them away like Joe. And Miya has disappeared, but Langa catches a glimpse of green next to Joe, small against the man’s large frame. It’s probably Miya, but Langa isn’t quite sure. He isn’t quite sure of anything, if he’s being honest.
He catches Cherry glancing at him and Reki. He can’t read the man, he never can, but somehow, it calms him. It calms him to see Cherry standing there, arms crossed, his eyes flickering between the two boys on the ground and the thinning crowd. It’s protective. It’s… nice. Langa isn’t quite used to being cared for, he isn’t quite used to being the one on the ground, he isn’t quite used to being the one needing assistance, but seeing his friends there for him, looking out for him, it feels good.
Reki shifts in front of him, dropping down onto his knees. His head hangs back as he takes a deep, shaky breath. Oh, Reki is shaking. Langa was so fixated on himself that he didn’t notice how much Reki was panicking. He’s shaking like a leaf. He’s- Reki is laughing. Reki is laughing and shifting again, getting as comfortable as he can on the ground. He’s laughing, his eyes bright and big as they meet Langa’s. Reki is laughing while Langa just sits there, awkward, embarrassed, only starting to calm.
“Man,” Reki rubs at his nose, his voice higher than usual from the laughter, “I can’t believe that happened. Like Miya was… Man, I didn’t know what to say.”
“You,” Langa surprises himself, his voice catches him off guard, but he doesn’t stop. “You handled it pretty well.”
“You think?”
Reki’s cheeks are flushed. He’s still rubbing at his nose, a nervous tick of his. But he seems calm. He’s grinning. He looks beautiful like that. He always looks so beautiful.
Langa nods, not trusting his voice. And as he nods, his eyes flicker down. His body burns, his throat clogs up, but it feels different for moments ago. Everything contracts, but it releases just as quickly. Because it feels good. It feels good to have Reki’s hand over his, though Langa isn’t sure when that happened. He hadn’t felt Reki’s hand cover his, but now it’s all he feels.
Langa gulps. Reki’s hand is on his. It’s not the first time – Reki is an extremely physical person, from the small touches like their hands brushing together as they walk side by side to the bigger gestures like hugs – but Langa doesn’t know what to do. It’s not like the other times. Reki doesn’t have a reason to have his hand on Langa’s. But he chose to do so. He voluntarily chose to touch Langa, even after this whole fiasco.
“Hey,” Reki’s eyes flicker to where Chery was standing but has since left before coming back to Langa’s, “you good man?”
Langa nods again – it’s all he can manage to do, especially when Reki is looking at him like that. His deep amber eyes seem hazed with something Langa can’t quite pinpoint. They look softer, somehow. They’re not quite as big as usual, not flickering around excitedly like Langa is used to. They’re fixated on his face, on his eyes. Reki is staring at him, staring as if Langa is all there is to see in this big, wide world.
“You can tell me if something is bothering you, you know that, right?”
Langa’s heart flips in his chest as he straightens out. It was involuntary, Langa swears. He hadn’t meant to stare at Reki’s mouth, his eyes catching on the perfect curve of his lips as he smiled. It was an accident. Everything that happened tonight was an accident.
“I’m sorry,” Langa blurts out, leaning closer to Reki to make sure he hears him. He wants to make sure Reki knows how sorry he is about everything. “I’m sorry about the- about the whole- I shouldn’t have-!”
Langa bites the inside of his cheeks, sinking back into the ground. He just wants to apologize. He just wants to tell Reki that it will never happen again, that he’ll be more careful next time, but the words clog up in his throat. He can’t say it. He can’t say anything. Langa can never say anything.
“Is this about the whole Sunshine thing?”
Langa nods, shame filling him once more. He hates that he even dared allow himself to call Reki Sunshine. It was a name of his fantasies. It was a name given to the boy that could love him back. It was his feelings slipping out, completely out of control. It was Langa falling in love with the impossible.
“S’fine, dude.” Reki is smiling again. He’s shifting closer to Langa. “I really don’t mind. I mean, it’s not mean, so… You’re allowed, dude. It’s okay.”
Everything suddenly feels fuzzy and warm inside of Langa. It’s from the way Reki had gotten closer, their knees bumping and touching. It’s from the way Reki’s thumb is rubbing soothing circles into Langa’s knuckles. It’s from way Reki is looking at him, looking at him as if Langa really is the only person in the world. It’s from the way Reki’s cheeks are dusted with a rosy blush, his every freckle like a little star against a setting sun. Everything feels warm and fuzzy inside of Langa because Reki is there.
Langa never wanted them to change, but something has shifted. Their entire world shifted, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Change isn’t always bad, Langa has to remind himself, because if there wasn’t any change, then he wouldn’t have been here, staring at this beautiful, infinite golden hour that’s playing in Reki’s eyes. He wouldn’t be here, lost in those eyes. He wouldn’t be here, just him and Reki.
Langa had never considered himself a shy or nervous person. He never had a problem saying what was on his mind when he was prompted to speak. He never minded sounding blunt because it meant that he was being honest. Sure, it never hurt being a little less direct, a little softer, but if all he could manage was being blunt, then so be it. So far, it had always worked. Yet, staring Reki, Reki with his big and kind eyes, Langa finds himself tongue-tied. The words clog in the base of his throat, refusing to come out.
It’s now or never, Langa knows that. He has to say something now or he would have to die with his feelings buried deep in his heart. It’s now or he’ll never have another shot at confessing. It’s now or he’ll never get to see this beauty ever again.
His nails dig into the ground as his eyes squeeze shut. He feels hot. He feels like he’s burning from the inside. It’s now or never. Langa has to do this now.
“Reki, I like you.”
The words spill as Langa tenses. He feels his shoulders go stiff. He feels his stomach twist. He waits. He can’t open his eyes yet. He waits. He feels Reki’s thumb freeze against his skin. He waits. He knows the rejection is coming. He waits. He waits for his heart to shatter.
Pretty laughter. A snort. Pitchy giggling. Langa opens one eye, looking up at Reki. His face is completely flushed, his cheeks as red as his hair, but he’s giggle and nodded and grinning. He’s grinning from ear to ear. Langa relaxes, his breath hitching at the sight. Reki doesn’t hate him.
“Yeah, man? For real? You mean it?”
Does Langa mean it? Of course he does. It’s probably the most truthful thing he’s ever said in his life. He nods. Reki laughs excitedly. Nervously. He’s rubbing at his nose again.
“Man, aw, dude! That’s-!” The giggles are breaking up his sentences, not that Reki seems to be able to formulate a single coherent thought right now. His mind is probably racing. “Yeah, okay, yeah, man! I mean- Aw, dude-” more rubbing of the nose, his face flushing even deeper if that’s even possible. “Dude, this is so much harder than I thought… Of course, you somehow manage to make it sound so easy. You’re so good at this stuff, man.” Reki takes a deep breath. It’s a little shaky, but he’s still smiling so wide. “Langa, dude, I like you too!”
They’re both shaking. They’re both shaking and grinning and nodding and laughing. Langa feels breathless, adrenaline fueling him. The feeling, the feeling of Reki saying that he likes him too, the feeling of having Reki smile at him so brightly, looking like literal Sunshine, it’s better than winning any race. It feels a million times better than nailing a difficult trick. It’s… Langa had never felt that until now. He feels light and breathless and happy. So happy. The happiest.
Langa has to bite the inside of his cheek, ducking his head down and resisting the urge to blurt out to Reki that he loves him. He can’t blurt that out, not yet. Maybe next week. Maybe in a month. Maybe tomorrow. But not yet. One step at a time. So he contents himself with a smile that starts hurting his cheeks. He’s never smiled this big before.
Langa isn’t sure what all of this means, if they’re boyfriends or not, but he knows Reki likes him. Reki likes him and they’re holding hands, fingers intertwined as Reki is pulling Langa off the ground. Langa isn’t sure where they stand now, more than friends, not quite in a relationship, but they will talk about that later. They’ll talk about it when it’s just them, in the quiet of their homes. They will talk about them when they’ll be free to giggle like fools, embarrassed and flushed, when there won’t be anyone to interrupt them.
For now, Langa will have to do with this, Reki’s hand in his as he drags Langa back to their friends.
Miya sidesteps behind Joe as soon as he sees Reki and Langa coming up to him. He looks unsure and pouty, his hands stuffed in his pockets, his hood and hair falling over his eyes. It’s in those moments that Langa realizes how young Miya is compared to him. It’s in these moments that he realizes that Miya is barely a teenager and he’s almost an adult. Langa isn’t mad at Miya, but Miya might not know that. Miya might not be old enough to truly, fully realize that he is allowed to mess up from time to time. Especially not when he’s constantly pressured to be the best at everything he does.
Reki’s hand reaches out to the boy, pushing his hood off to ruffle his hair. Langa watches the interaction between the two. He watches Miya’s eyes widen, gapping a little at Reki before pulling his hood back on and huffing. He watches Reki grin at the boy, reminding him of their beef. He watches as Miya relaxes, stepping away from Joe. And he watches Joe and Cherry exchange looks, words that don’t need to be said for them to understand each other. Langa doesn’t understand them, but he knows it’s nothing bad.
Reki bounces from foot to foot, shaking his whole body to relax while Miya stretches his legs and rolls his shoulders back. They both look pumped, ready to take the other down. Their eyes are bright as they look around, watching the people gather around once more. Langa knows this will be a good race. He knows that neither one will go easy on the other.
It takes a few minutes, but the crowd finally gathers around the starting line. It’s almost time to start, electricity fizzling through the air. Reki versus Miya. Two amazing skaters are about to go head-to-head. No one wants to miss that, even if it is a little later than it was supposed to.
Reki bounces up to Langa, his palms sliding down Langa’s arms until they’re flush against his, their fingers locking together. Reki is grinning, bright and warm and sunny. Reki is grinning, crooked front teeth and beautiful. Langa can’t help but smile back at him.
“It’s almost time.”
Langa nods. “You’re going to do amazing, Reki.”
“Hey, Langa?” Langa hums as Reki begins to swing their arms between them, hands still clasped together. Dusty rose colors his cheeks. “Can you say it again? Please?”
Langa furrows his eyebrows, his head tilting ever so slightly. “Say what?”
“You know! You know… the thing?”
Oh. It’s hard not letting the laughter bubbling inside escape from his lips. If he wasn’t already in love, Langa definitely is now. How can he not when Reki is looking like that, chewing on his lip as he glances away, shifting from foot to foot? How can he not be in love with this ray of sunshine?
Langa isn’t sure what prompts him to act the way he does, but he doesn’t regret it. He doesn’t regret tugging Reki closer, causing him to stumble until their bodies are flush against each other. He doesn’t regret pressing a kiss to Reki’s warm cheek. He doesn’t regret the whispers that break from his lips.
“Good luck, Sunshine. Win this one, for me.”
