howdy!! do you rewatch your own work? if so, how often? im wondering if it has the same "artist just sees faults with what they create" thing, or if youre able to appreciate past projects the way they deserve

I don't, typically... usually, by the time we're finished with post production, I've seen the thing so many times that I'm thrilled to stop watching it. I'm either sick of it, or just feeling like it doesn't belong to me anymore. There are other reasons, too - Hill House was a traumatic production for me, for example, I have a lot of complicated emotions woven into it, so I haven't felt ready to rewatch that one since before it aired. Maybe in a few more years.

Somewhat recently, I've revisited a few of the older movies with my eldest son, who is 13 now. He's basically as old as my career itself. We've watched Oculus, Hush, The Midnight Club (which he LOVED, proving it worked for our target audience) and Ouija: OOE together, and each of those screenings was a really cool experience. His reactions and questions were really fascinating, and I felt like I was able to see those movies anew through his eyes. That's the closest I've come to feeling like I was really seeing them, and that's only because so much time has gone by for those. I watched the Director's Cut of Doctor Sleep a few years back at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park Colorado. It was part of a live NoSleep Podcast event, and that was the first time I'd seen that movie since it was released. It was also the first and only time I'd ever seen the Director's Cut with an audience. That was a really special screening and it meant a lot to me.

I haven't yet had the guts to revisit any of the TV series other than Midnight Club. As my kids get older, I'm sure I'll watch them all with them. The one I'm most excited to see is Midnight Mass, which remains my favorite of the shows. I haven't seen it since before it came out - I remember the last day of post on that show, watching down each episode with final mix and color. That's a series I wish I could actually watch like a viewer at home, and while I'll never truly be able to do that, I look forward to looking at it with some real distance.

There are a few of the older projects I'd be curious to watch now. I wonder how Absentia holds up - I was such a baby when we made that movie, and it's been so long. I imagine I could watch that today and have a really trippy experience. I also haven't revisited Before I Wake in a very long time, and I always really loved that script. The movie was a rough road, and my feelings were mixed by the time it finally found its finish line (Relativity Media really beat that one up), but that could also be a really interesting viewing experience at this stage of my career.

But generally, each of these movies is a journey, and once the journey is over it's tough to ever really go back. There's little point, and moving forward feels like a matter of survival. The "finished product" is only the tip of a large, deep, labyrinthian iceberg for me. It's impossible to only see what's on the surface, no matter how hard I try.

(Interesting side-note: The only exception I've found to this rule is The Life of Chuck. We just finished post production on the movie, and I've watched it dozens and dozens of times now - but I've never grown tired of it, not even a little bit. That movie is something special, and I am eager to watch it again - and again - and again. I don't know that I'll ever want distance from that one; in fact, watching it brings me a sense of joy, comfort, and safety.)

Right! Here we go. Ghosts Finale Positivity Post as I rewatch.

- Robin being an excited little kid for Christmas is the cutest thing, even if it's Halloween.

- Alison's face when she's showing the ghosts Mia before she has to put the mask on. Also the fact one of her first priorities after giving birth was for Mike to call them and reassure her they're OK.

- "Since Alison come, it been my favorite time of year." I love you Robin, I love you, I love you.

- Nana Fanny is surprisingly sweet? I never imagined her being that maternal before, she never spoke of her children.

- "Robin want more." 🥺 HE IS SO BABY.

- "Think of the child, Alison!" Thomas just kills it with that line. 😂

- Julian caring about putting Robin in the Christmas mood. Chess Husbands are the Joey and Chandler of this show for me.

- Mike was fully about to reveal the truth to Betty but his wife said Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss. It's just so on point for them.

- "She doesn't want to see Fanny on camera." Has someone compiled all these jokes yet?

- Alison's little thumbs up to Julian, they are just chaos buddies.

- Mike being a terrible liar is hilarious.

- Mike warning the ghosts to leave! Like he has no real connection to these guys except through Alison but doesn't want any of them in danger. 🥺

- "Betty's bought the pastor!" "Pasta? That not very Christmassy." Robin I swear to god.

- That close in shot of Julian is the funniest scene in the episode. Also Robin "I think we should go-" chess husbands stick together.

- Kitty remembering Humphrey! She's always seemed to be the one who is most concerned for him. <3

- This. Just this.

- Thomas, normally the most self-obsessed git, being the one to jump into the line of fire to rescue Humphrey is also <3 <3

- This expression on Alison broke my heart and had me going "babygirl oh babygirl!" at my TV.

- But then.... 😁🥰😁

- CHESS HUSBANDS SHOULDER TOUCH

- As chaotic as the scene is, Kitty wanting to sing Mia a lullaby is cute and shows she's trying to move past her jealousy...I think.

- Fanny calling Alison her daughter. I'm not OK.

- This had me howling. 😂

- Mike saying "thanks guys." There's as many Mike / ghosts moments as Alison ones here.

- Julian being so happy Robin feels Christmassy!

- This could be an oil painting. My girl. 😭

- Best use of a song and lyrics timed with what's happening.

- THE PORTRAITS! Such a tiny detail but tells you Alison had her input into how the hotel was set up. She made it for her and Mike but she left it for THEM!

- The last we hear from Alison is her laughter. All these years. All these years and they are loving and LAUGHING together.

- Plague Ghosts always had to be the ones to bow us out. Again, while she wasn't super close to them, I like to think Alison suggested the pit as a good place for the spa, for them. 🥰

.....Okay that was a little better on second viewing ngl.

(For anyone wondering why I don't mention any of the PatCap moments, sorry I'm just not a big fan of baby scenes and babytalk etc.)

Description: Right before BSD Cast got into your world, you ordered something. But, as it often happens, your package got delayed And, because of BSD Cast arrival and you moving out, you totally forgot about your package. Until one day, when it finally arrived.

Prequel to Two detectives in your bed

Warning: OOC. English is my second language.

You were mindlessly browsing the Internet. The room was dark and only light from your laptop screen illuminated the room. Thankfully, you were on vacation and have as much free time as you want. You yawn and glance in your phone screen. It was 3:00 am.

Three months before BSD Cast Arrived to this world

You, probably, should go to sleep. But, you don't want to.

Many students left to visit their families. They will spend holidays with theirs relatives. Parents, siblings, cousins, grandparents and others.

You don't have a place to return to. You were talking with your relatives, yes. But, they do show you, that no one want to see you.

You were alone.

You don't have friends. Because of your insecurities, you were afraid of making friends. You were afraid of making a mistake. Of being laughed at.

But you want to have someone. You don't want to be alone anymore.

A single sob escaped your lips. Holidays were the worst. No one around. You couldn't even watch TV and cuddle with a pet, because your landlord isn't allowed pets in the apartment.

You glance at your bed. Full of pillows and few plush toys. So you can cuddle them to sleep. Pretend, that you snuggle up with someone. That you are not alone.

It was a poor substitute, but beggars can't be choosers.

You shook your head and return to the screen.

Maybe, you could watch something. Maybe, you can rewatch your favorite BSD Moments?

You nodded to yourself and start typing the link of the site, where you watch BSD. It took a few moments for it to open. And, of course, there were ads.

Premium account, new book, anime figures, dakimakuras... What?

You scroll up, looking at the small colorful ad with pictures of a few body pillows with anime characters on it. Out of curiosity, you click on the ad.

A new site was opened in a new window. It looked normal. Menu with catalog and FAQ. Search bar. Online shop cart. Contacts. Site looked good.

Just for fun, you search for BSD dakimakuras. You don't forget to choose SFW prints only.

In few moments you got your results. It wasn't much, but, all of them looked good.

You scroll down, and saw, that two dakimakuras were on sale. With Fyodor Dostoevsky and Nikolai Gogol. You click on them, taking a better look.

According to information and reviews, the pillows were big and soft, the prints were colorful. Both dakimakuras were good.

You wonder if you should buy one.

They looked good for hugging.

You cast another glance on your bed.

Body pillow would be better, that many simple pillows.

After a quick search, you discover, that site, where you saw dakimakuras, were a legit one and wasn't scamming people.

You return to the site. You... could buy both Fyodor and Gogol pillows without worrying about your finances.

But, should you?

You stare at the screen.

Your apartment was quiet. Too quiet.

You were alone.

You click on "Add to cart" option.

First month... Second month... Third month...

Shop apologize for loosing package and return money. They also allow you to keep the package, if, one day, it arrived.

Then BSD cast arrived in real world...

With them came friendship.

New home. New memories.

Camping trip with ADA. Scavenger hunt with Port Mafia. Shopping trip with The Guild. Visit to museum with Rats in the house of the Dead. Laser tug with Decay of Angels. Sport competition with Hunting Dogs. Homemade theater with kids.

Walks, movie nights, game nights.

Breakfasts, lunches, dinners.

And no more loneliness.

And you completely forgot about the package.

You, Elise, Mori and Karma were ready to go.

Karma and Elise need something for school, so, you all decide to go on a small shopping trip.

Right before leaving the house, you got a notification. You check it.

It was from your previous neighbors. The big package with your name on it arrived in your old apartment. And neighbors asked you to hurry up and took it from them.

You frowned. You didn't remember ordering something on your old address. Still, you didn't want to make your neighbors wait. They were good neighbors. But, you will do busy these days and your old apartment are far away.

It seems, your worried expression didn't leave unnoticed. You heard Karma's soft voice.

"[Y/N]? Is everything alright?"

You nodded mindlessly. Mostly, it was alright.

"Yes, it's just... My previous neighbors got a package with my name on it. Ask me to take it as soon as I can."

Elise tucked her hair behind the ear. She tried to give you her best puppy dog eyes.

"So, we are going without you? But, [Y/N], without you, Rintarou will be unbearable!"

Mori stands behind Elise. He also looked a tiny bit sad. Thankfully, he didn't try to make puppy dog eyes on you. You would not bear looking at Port Mafia boss, who tried to beg like this for something.

"Elise-chan, [Y/N] will decide for themselves. And here I was planning to treat you all in a restaurant."

It is a blackmail!

You huffed. But, the problem still stands. Well, time to ask someone for help. You turned around and hurry to the living room.

"Will be back in a minute!"

You run into Fyodor and Nikolai in the living room. Nikolai was telling a story to Fyodor, actively gesticulating. Meanwhile, Fyodor was nodding from time to time, showing, that he is listening.

Noticing you, Nikolai stopped talking and waved. His smile became even bigger.

"Birdy! Good to see you. Do you decide to stay home with us? Great! Come on, sit down, right between Fedya and I!" Kolya patted the sofa next to where he was sitting. "We will keep you warm and comfy!"

It seems, Fyodor also liked the idea of you staying home. Unfortunately, you are needed. You will be an 'anchor' for Mori. Without you, he will go overboard with shopping and at the end of the day, instead of one adult, one teen and one child, three piles of bags will return home. You shake your head.

"Sorry, but I still must go. But I need help."

You explained, in a few words, what you need.

"So, can you two, please, go to my old apartment and take the package?"

Fyodor and Nikolai looked at each other, the Fyodor nodded.

"No problems, Myshonok. Just in case, should we check, what inside the package? To make sure it isn't damaged?"

You shrugged.

"Why not? Thanks, both of you. If you need anything, just call me."

You left the living room.

And soon you, Karma, Elise and Mori left the house.

Fifteen minutes later, Fyodor and Nikolai left to your old apartment.

______

You finally were back from your shopping trip. All of you get what you need and had lunch in a small restaurant.

You were ready to go to your room, when noticed, that there was a note on your bedroom door.

"[Y/N], please, go to my room. I will give you back your package. Fyodor D. P.S.: It would be nice to spend time together. You, Kolya and I."

You smiled. It was good, that everything went well. You decide to agree to spend some time with Fyodor and Nikolai as a 'thank you' for getting the package.

You walk into your room and changed in a what you call 'shuggly clothes for Fedya and Kolya'.

You were wearing a mouse kigurumi and a scarf, that Kolya gave you.

After getting ready, you go to Fyodor's room.

Something feels wrong.

Fyodor was unusually quiet. He locked the door behind you. Kolya wasn't here.

And something was laying behind Fedya's bed.

Fyodor turned towards you. His expression was neutral.

"Myshonok... Your package is here."

You nervously gulped. Did someone send something bad to you?

Fyodor took a piece of paper from his desk and hold it towards you.

"It came with the package."

You read the text.

And you were mortified.

You remembered ordering two dakimakuras almost a year ago. And lost package. And the prints.

You whined and looked at Fyodor.

He was holding them in his hands.

They were soft. They were real. They were in your house, and you don't have any idea what to do with them.

Fyodor were holding two big dakimakuras.

You take a step back. Only to crash into someone else's chest. You don't need to be a genius, to realize, that you were trapped between Fyodor and Nikolai.

Fyodor nodded a little.

Suddenly, a blanket was draped over you. And Nikolai was wrapping it around you tighter and tighter.

Five minutes later, everything was over.

You were laying on Fyodor's bed. You were wrapped in a blanket. Like a candy. And you were stuck between Fyodor and Nikolai.

Fyodor was laying in front of you. His hand caress your face, slowly massaging it

Nikolai was laying behind you. He was spooning you, nibbling your earlobe from time to time.

And you feel, like you were on fire. They were so close. They were so soft.

And they were teasing.

Nikolai let go of your ear and whispered right into it.

"Tell me, Birdy, will this pillow ever kiss you during cuddles?" he returned to nibbling on your ear. You whimper.

"N-no, Kolya..."

Nikolai laughed and start paying attention to the spot right behind your ears.

You felt Fyodor's warm breath on your face. You close your eyes and his fingers started massaging your eyelids.

"Myshonok, will this pillow ever give you a massage during cuddles?"

You whimper again.

"No..."

Fyodor didn't answer, but, instead, softly kissed your eyelids.

Meanwhile, Nikolai chuckled.

"So, one point to us. No points to pillows. Next round."

Position was changed.

Now you were laying face to face with Nikolai. You felt Fyodor's breath on your neck, before he starts leaving small kisses on it. Nikolai's fingers run up and down your scalp, massaging it.

And you feel even more embarrassed.

Fyodor spoke again.

"So, do you want to explain, what the deal with the pillows?"

Once again, without waiting for your answer, Fyodor continues to lightly kiss your neck.

You spoke. Your voice was trembling.

"I... I didn't know... that you were self-aware... Order them almost a year ago... Forgot about it..."

Nikolai playfully boops your nose.

"And didn't know about the bonus pillow cases."

You nod. You feel even warmer now. Fyodor and Nikolai laughed. Fyodor started nibbling on your ear.

"I am not asking about that, Myshonok."

You were pretty sure, that you became ad hot as desert sand.

"I... I was so lonely... Before you arrived. I wanted to... Pretend, that I have someone in my life."

They were quiet. Then you felt Fyodor's lips on your cheek.

"Than today we will show you, that you will never be alone again, Myshonok"

Nikolai kissed the corner of your mouth.

"Don't worry, Birdy, we will take care of you. Just enjoy the warmth. And forget about the pillows."

Nikolai's grin became sly.

"But, please, remember, did you order pillow with us with... Adult print?"

You let out a muffled scream, hiding your face in Nikolai's chest.

You had a feeling, that they will never forget about dakimakuras.

______

What came next, you can describe with only one word. Heaven. Almost.

Without teasing about prints on pillows, it would be even grater.

You were warm.

You were cuddling with Fyodor and Nikolai.

One moment you were laying on Fyodor's chest, and he was showering your forehead in kisses.

The second moment, you were pressed against Nikolai's chest and he was kissing your hands.

You were pampered. You were caressed.

You weren't alone.

You fall asleep between Fyodor and Nikolai.

Safe. Sound. Not alone.

"The Jerrick Trap" was a clever twist on the body-swapping concept. I had trouble following it at first because they both sounded like Rick, to the point that I wondered if Jerry's half went in hiding. A lightbulb went off in my head when they clarified that they're both Rick and Jerry.

I've seen two people merged into one being ("Tuvix" from Star Trek: Voyager) but two consciousnesses sharing half of each person is something I've never watched before. And Rick and Jerry's personalities merged surprisingly well. Rick and Beth struggle to get along because they're so similar, but Jerry complements Rick perfectly--if only Rick would get his head out of his ass and accept it!

I wasn't a fan of the cold open, thinking "...OK, seriously? Rick 'hates' Jerry so much that he kills himself when he's stuck in his mind?" Others pointed out that maybe Rick just couldn't handle being in a brain without his coping mechanisms, which is a better idea. Still, it's hard to shake off your initial interpretation. I hoped that the episode would elaborate on that, but it never did.

And boy, Jerricky almost ruined the episode for me. Rick and Morty is full of silly, stupid humor--"The Old Man and the Seat" is an episode about Rick sitting on a toilet, for one--but that human-centipede creature was too bizarre. I won't say it was objectively bad, but I might skip that part during rewatches.

Back to what I enjoyed. I loved seeing the reappearance of Rick's favorite thing: crystals. The writers gave Rick's crow phase a shoutout, which is MY favorite thing. I'm surprised the comics never explored that period. I don't read the comics, but I would consider buying that issue.

The backgrounds were stunning, too. Rick and Morty's artists create dazzling environments with their color theory expertise. Rick and Jerry's Miami Vice adventures blew me away in every scene, making me want to live in that tropical city.

As for Memory Rick, he was a surprise. I was wondering today if he ever escaped Rick's mind, so I guess that was a premonition. He'll probably have an important role later on.

Anyway, Jerry admitting that Rick is the closest thing he has to a friend surprised me, but it's true when I think about it. Who else does he talk to? Space Beth can't stand him, his marriage is strained and his kids aren't his friends. His parents rarely show up.

Rick's the only person in his life who isn't obligated to hang out with him because they're related. He's also the only fellow adult male. As much as their lives diverge, Rick can relate to him in a way that no one else can.

Morty says at the end "I think it's clear that you both love each other more than you're willing to admit." Of course, Rick denies it, but his and Jerry's bickering at the table is their weird way of saying "I love you." If they didn't, they'd just leave the table instead of frantically overcompensating.

And their minds wouldn't have fused together so well, either. Otherwise, both halves of Rick would've just killed himself again, or grabbed the gun while Jerry's halves tried to fight him off.

#24: Family Fun Days (S9E03 & S4E15)

Grimes Family 2.0 has my heart eternally. 🥹 They are the best family to ever grace an apocalypse. And what’s so sweet is during their Family Fun Day in s9 and s4, it truly didn’t even feel like an apocalypse - that’s how much love and joy Rick and Michonne were admirably able to place in their and their kids’ lives. And while the fallen world turned Rick and Michonne into walker-slaying warriors, who they really are to their core are parents. (ours and their kids 😋) So the final Family Fun Day and the first unofficial Family Fun Day are a tie on this list for allowing Richonne to show why they're the greatest parents around...

Starting with the s9 Family Fun Day, one of my favorite parts is when Rick, Michonne, and Judith are walking hand in hand in ASZ. It’s so idyllic and so the type of rewarding happy life these three deserve.

I think back to s5 when Rick and Michonne were outside the gates of ASZ with Carl and baby Judith in the backseat of their car. I love that the leap of faith they took together in coming to this place has now turned into a stable home where they can fully enjoy being family.

I feel like words can’t fully even capture how much I love all this. Their smiles. Michonne cheering Rick on by saying, "come on, daddy." Judith skipping. Rick's countdown. And the way they lift her up and cheer Judith on. Somehow, I never noticed it until this rewatch, but after they lift Judith up, Rick and Michonne say “wow” at the exact same time. Always in sync those two. 🥰

And Rick and Michonne getting to just be parents is the best and so meaningful. After the devastating loss of children, the way Rick and Michonne have risen from those depths of despair and given Judith a beautiful cheerful life is so commendable. And, truly, it speaks to the strength of Rick and Michonne's impact on each other's lives that they can be this healed and happy now.

I’m choked up from just this initial moment and it only gets cuter with each of their activities. It’s clear that this is Judith’s favorite way to spend the day, but make no mistake, this is Rick and Michonne’s favorite way to spend the day too. And I love that Family Fun Days are something they seem to do often and look forward to. (also it's sweet that, throughout the series, we got several indicators that little Judith is a mama's girl 😊)

It was such a joy to see this side of Rick and Michonne, especially knowing we’d only have 2 more eps before Rick’s departure. I love that we got to see Rick just have so much fun as the best girl dad. He deserved to have so many more days like this with his baby girl. 🥲

Also, what I would give to have seen a family fun day that included Rick, Michonne, RJ, Judith, and Carl all together. 😭

The good thing is Rick and Michonne are going to do everything in their power to get home to Judith and RJ, and I have hope TWD's best parents will be able to have plenty more days like this to enjoy with their children whenever the four reunite.

(Side note: Since we're talking Grimes family in this post, can I just say I never understand the complaints about our sweet prince RJ being a regular kid doing regular kid stuff - like ??? To me, it's actually the biggest flex that Rick and Michonne's baby is living a normal life. A whole dang apocalypse hit the earth, and your kid is able to just read comics and ride bikes because, even in the most dangerous possible world, you managed to create some normal (as normal as it can be in that world) stability for your children - What a win. And rather than find him "boring" as a kid under age 10 just living life, I find it heartwarming that RJ Grimes got to be so normal. The mostly peaceful and regular way RJ is living is the very thing Michonne and Rick wanted and fought for. It's the very thing RJ's big brother Carl fought for too. How wonderful that they got what they wanted 🥰👌🏽)

And then the montage includes my absolute favorite visual with the three of them on a picnic blanket all relaxed, with a brief glimpse of Rick handing Michonne a pink flower as Judith seems to notice the way her dad loves her mom. Even in just a .5-second clip of Rick wanting to give Michonne that flower we see yet another example of how Rick so naturally shows love to his wife. 🥰

I love that in s9 especially, Rick was like if y’all don’t know nothing else about me, you’re going to know that I’m head over heels in love with Michonne. And he’s just so good at courting her even in their married era, and I adore how he’s always thinking of how to gift her.

Y’all, everything in this moment (& the deleted picnic scene where Rick expresses wanting more years like this with his wife and kids) gives me so much happiness and peace. Again, it’s so idyllic and tranquil and pretty. I wanted them to live in this moment forever.

The picnic shot is just beauty and I will always cherish it. It makes me think about Carl’s vision in s8, of their family playing hooky. I know Carl would be so proud to see the three of them essentially doing exactly that on this beautiful family fun day. Like this whole montage is truly what Carl wanted most for the three of them. 🥹

To this day, when I see Scott running over while the three are reading, I’m like damn it. 😫 Richonne deserved to have a day to be all about their family and nothing else and Rick and Michonne look like they really do agree with me in the way they both communicate with a wordless look lol.

They don’t want this family time to end, but they know the world is ready to start screaming again. I do like how Rick sees Scott coming but keeps reading tho. Like ‘maybe if we keep reading he’ll just jog past us.’ 😂

Seeing Rick kiss Judith before joining Michonne and Scott is so sweet and so sad because it’s his final interaction with his daughter before he’s taken away for years. 😭

Rick and Michonne again wordlessly communicate upon learning about that murdered savior, and you can tell they’re both disappointed. And I'm disappointed that Family Fun Day was cut short too, but I also was like, I should've known...

But I adore that this scene, which ends up being Rick and Michonne's last time side by side in the present, does not end on disappointment.

Rick is quiet and looking at Michonne, and then he looks away frustrated and stressed, especially because this new development could jeopardize the unity and safety he and Michonne so badly want to build for their people.

It’s so clear how Michonne feels for him, knowing how much they both wanted to have this day to just be. And then the shot focuses on their hands with Rick’s fist clenched to further illustrate his frustration.

But Michonne always knows how to offer Rick the exact right uplifting encouragement and so I love that she then takes his hand. The choreo of it is so good with her slowly sliding her hand into his. It’s symbolic for Michonne to be the one who could most help Rick release his fist, thus release the frustration, and hold onto what matters most.

And, of course, Rick is receptive and holds her hand. He can always receive the positivity Michonne instills in him. And so I love that Rick tightly holds her hand and allows that to be the note they can end on together.

Richonne handholds are always a thing of beauty so I love that their final moment like this ends on that emphasized visual. Even when things fall apart, they’re still in it together. They’re still held together by their love.

Y’all, how do even their hands tell a compelling story? I mean they always have. From exchanging bullets in Clear, to passing mints and holding hands in their canon ep, and this significant final present moment between them. It really does highlight the strength, love, and unity of Richonne's relationship.

It’s also sweet how Rick and Michonne's official romance began with a handhold, and their final moment ends with one too. And while their journey is about to devastatingly take them on separate paths for years, I really feel like this handhold right here actually never breaks.

In many ways, during their years apart, Rick and Michonne still embarked through life as though their true love was still with them, still holding their hand and supporting them because their love is neverending - as noted in both Rick and Michonne's sentiments during the TWD series finale.

(Side note: There’s this interesting contrast I think about - because with losing Lori, part of what made it so painful on Rick is knowing they never got official closure after they grew distant and their marriage fell apart. But then with “losing” Michonne after he was taken, part of what likely makes it so painful for Rick is that their marriage was in such a great spot. Rick and Michonne were so beyond close, happy together, and hopeful for their future just before Rick was taken away. And that’s a unique pain to just be abruptly plucked from the woman you were so longing to spend the rest of your life with. Where the Lori loss featured an element of mourning a clear closed door, the Michonne “loss” is an element of mourning all the doors he hoped he'd open with her. And I’m really curious to see how Rick has been dealing with that type of pain while away in TOWL)

This whole sequence of events in 9.03 is the definition of precious. And the song in the background pairs so nicely with this heavenly time. I love Grimes Family 2.0, and this was like a beautiful love letter to them.

It was a lovely reward for Rick and Michonne after all they've been through in this series. And I just appreciate how much joy was depicted in every moment Rick got with his girls in season 9. (their opening moment in the s9 premiere also gets an honorable mention cuz I absolutely adore it)

So I called this Family Fun Days plural because before Rick and Michonne so adorably had their day as mommy and daddy with Judith, they had another version of a family fun day out in the woods with Carl. And this moment, along with the s9 montage, are my all-time favorite Grimes Family 2.0 scenes.

This one in season 4 is so meaningful because during their s9 family fun day in ASZ they were enjoying merriment in the safety of their community - but here the golden trio of Rick, Michonne, and Carl are traveling while unsure of where they’ll get their next meal or where they’ll lay their head for the night…and yet they smile. 🥹 The levity found in this moment is so important and heartwarming to see.

I love that Michonne was so effortlessly able to be a best friend to Carl and helped him have fun even in an apocalypse. I adore the opening of the scene as Rick talks about resources running low and turns around to see Michonne and Carl adorably preoccupied with their train track competition.

Rick turning around to see Michonne and Carl reminded me of the s9 premiere when the first thing we see of Rick is him opening the doors to watch Michonne and Judith.

I know Michonne’s bond with Carl and Judith means the absolute world to Rick. And I can only imagine how moved Rick would (and will) be to see her bond with their adorable son RJ too. 😭

(Again, I'll never get over the fact that Michonne really carried Rick's child. How extremely beautiful. 🥹And soon Rick is going to finally know all about the son he made with the love of his life. Won't He Do It! 🥳)

I always appreciate that Rick walks over to Michonne and Carl, letting them have the moment a little longer, and the way Michonne playfully tries to win their competition. Carl sharing the Big Cat because "we always share" is also just so sweet.

And, of course, you know I love the way that man Rick is grinning while watching and appreciating this wholesome family moment. 🥰The way he keeps sneaking glances at Michonne as he smiles - I forever stand by the fact that Rick has fallen in love with Michonne by this point.💯

Even despite their circumstances, the three seemed so happy in this moment cuz they’re together the way it was meant to be. And I love that Michonne and Rick both valued giving Carl a good childhood against all odds.

In Carl’s devastating final episode "Honor" he tells Michonne "Don't carry this - not this part," and I always like to think that this moment on the tracks is one of the parts of their journey Carl hopes Michonne holds onto instead. Cuz it was such a beautiful happy moment that cemented the three as a family.

And, clearly, she and Rick did choose to carry the good parts with Carl and even pass it on to Judith as they and their daughter so presently enjoyed a day of fun and games seasons later, where for a few hours they didn't have to be community leaders or fierce fighters. Instead, Rick and Michonne just got to be what they so cherished being - mom and dad. Grimes family forever. 🤍

Hunter’s Lies and Leadership in Aftermath

(Plus some misc thoughts)

Decided to do a quick little rewatch of Aftermath yesterday morning, and noticed something I haven’t paid attention to before.

(First, I have to say that one of my favorite moments out of the entire series is the first exchange between Hunter and Crosshair when Cross is still in his right mind—“Crosshair, let’s get these tanks moving!” “Sir, yes sir.” Just brings a smile to my face at their lighthearted snarkiness every time. These are their real, unburdened personalities. Ones we haven’t gotten to see since.)

As for what I noticed, I realized how much Hunter lies throughout the episode, and easily. His wartime leadership skills are at their strongest here, the easy, confident, calling-the-shots tone that designates his position as squad leader. He knows his men, he knows what they’re capable of, and he knows what needs to be done in order to accomplish a goal. He’s tactical, perceptive, quick thinking and responsive to what is happening around him even as he is also internally processing things that don’t make sense to him. (This is in stark contrast to his reserve and indecisiveness in season 2, which I’ll save for another post).

However, as close knit as the group is, and as honest as we know the Batch is and that Hunter is not intentionally manipulative, he immediately, easily, and without hesitation lies multiple times. The first time is to protect Caleb as he leaps over the waterfall and Crosshair then comes up asking where he went.

“Where’s the Jedi?”

“I stunned him when he jumped. He didn’t make it.”

Hunter knows something is up with Crosshair, though he doesn’t know what. And he wants Caleb to be safe. But his instant response is a straight up lie and he doesn’t even waver in delivering it. He furthers the lie on their return home when Crosshair questions him about it. He knows Crosshair doesn’t believe him but he’s not ready to open that can of worms mid flight.

He lies again when they land back on Kamino and a shock trooper asks him if they have a problem with what’s going on. This time though he stutters and is much less convincing in his delivery, I think both because he’s becoming more and more confused at what is going on, and also because he’s now lying to authority and could actually face consequences if he doesn’t give the “right” answer. Regardless, it’s interesting that his nerves shine through here but not when he’s talking to his squad, who would know much more quickly his tells and attitudes than a random trooper would.

His next lie is to Tech during the briefing by Palpatine to all of the clone troopers. This is the first time for this show that we see how Tech pays attention to Hunter’s reactions, and when Hunter sees Omega for the first time, Tech asks him what he sees, and Hunter says “nothing” when he realizes that Omega has disappeared.

He also sort of half lies to Omega when they leave for Onderon, telling her that a mission is a mission and that it’s nothing to worry about. He’s churning inside though. He knows none of this make sense. But of course he’s not going to tell a kid that, he wants to comfort her and make her feel at ease.

All of this makes me wonder—is this something Hunter was used to doing? Is he so used to being the leader who holds everyone together, with no one for him to really turn to, that he’ll do whatever needs to be done to keep the peace or complete their mission objective, even if it means lying to his brothers in the moment? Or is this newer for him and he’s using it as a way to cope with the sudden shift in the situations they are dealing with?

And then Saw Gerrera says something interesting when they’re trying to apprehend him on Onderon. He says to Hunter as the leader of the group specifically:

“Take a look at the group of insurgents you were sent to destroy. Makes you wonder what else they’re lying about.”

Now, I’m not saying that Hunter took this to mean “oh man I gotta stop lying to my crew because that’s what the empire is doing to us and that’s no way to lead.” But, he doesn’t lie anymore through the rest of this episode, nor in the next one. I’d have to watch through the series again to remember if there are any other occasions of him directly lying to the Batch (vs to a stranger to keep them safe). There does seem to be a shift in his demeanor after this though. And Saw’s words seem to help him coalesce his thoughts because he quickly comes to the decision that they are going to get Omega and then desert, and he doesn’t hide this from any of the Batch members, not even Crosshair.

Side note 1: This episode also has some really beautiful indications of how much Hunter cares too: him saying “nice work” to Crosshair after their training session, him yelling “no!” when Caleb and Crosshair are fighting because he’s worried about either of them harming the other, and him telling Omega to stay away from them because their squad is nothing but trouble.

Side note 2: Omega tells Crosshair that she knows what he’s going to do before he’s taken away. Then when they are all gearing up in the hanger and about to go look for Crosshair, she hears footsteps coming and tells them they won’t have to look far. She knows that not only are they about to be found by troopers in general, but that Crosshair specifically will be with them. I wonder if as Nala Se’s assistant she knew what the procedure would be to try and enhance Crosshair’s chip and turn him against them.

[a/n: i'm gonna change my theme so i'll add a header later but i've been rewatching my favorite shows so expect more of these! enjoy !! <3]

Maka eyed Soul in amusement, watching as her weapon partner gazed at you in the cafeteria. You had been chatting it up with your meister as you two waited in line, trays in hand. Soul had been crushing on you bad. He was disheartened because he thought you and your partner were a couple but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

She had spoken to you at a party a few days ago and subtly asked if you were seeing anyone. You adamantly denied it as your eyes searched the small crowd until falling on a familiar head of white hair, a deep red blush on your cheeks that you had hoped Maka had waved off as the liquor in your cup, that you definitely should not have been drinking.

From then on it was almost sickening to see the sweet unnoticed glances the both of you threw at each other.

“Soul, just ask her out already.” Tsubaki suggested lightheartedly, stealing the words that were about to roll off of Maka’s tongue.

The blonde nodded in agreement. “Yeah, Soul. Cool guys should speak up about what they’re feeling.” She teased.

“Tch, forget it.” He turned back to look at his food, pushing it around with a fork. “She’s already with someone.”

“Who? (Y/n)? No she’s not.” Kid hummed as he, Liz, and Patty took their seats at the table.

“How would you know?” Soul grimaced, waiting for some kind of punchline.

“Cause she said so.” Patty shrugged like it was the most obvious thing ever.

“She comes over to get her nails done by Liz and she’s surprisingly very gossip-y.” Kid took a sip of his water.

“Yeah, she said she had her eye on someone.” Liz moved her eyebrows suggestively at Soul. “She was trying to be vague about her description but it was obviously you.”

Soul said nothing as he processed all this information. As long as he had known you, you were always a little shy and closed off. Maka and the others had helped you out of your cocoon so, when you all hung out together outside of school, he got to see another side of you. Your boisterous laughter was melodic and infectious, your smiles unabashed and wide, even going as far as throwing around sarcastic and snarky quips here and there. It was his favorite thing to see your cheeks rosy as you joined Patty in whatever silly antics possessed her.

“Hey guys!” Your meister grinned as you both took a seat. Your eyes scanned everyone before they met Soul’s. He could’ve sworn they lit up as you sent a shy smile his way.

Oh Lord, you were gonna be the death of him.

The weekend came rather quickly and Soul found himself bored and alone at home. Maka had gone to the library with Tsubaki and Kid to study and Blair was working a shift at Chupa Cabra’s. He had cleaned to keep busy but after that, there really wasn’t much to do and it was only 12pm.

“Oh man, this is totally uncool.” He muttered, slumping into the couch cushion. He stared at the wall for a bit before a vibration against his thigh snapped him out of his daze. Hastily pulling it out of his pocket, he flipped it over and his heart started to beat faster at your picture filling his screen. He cleared his throat.

“Hey, what’s up?”

His voice sent a shiver down your spine. “H-Hey Soul, are you-are you busy?”

“Not at all.” Never too busy for you is what he really wanted to say.

“Okay, uhm well I was gonna grab s-some coffee and maybe go shopping.” You paused and he waited patiently for you to continue. “I was wondering if you wanted to maybe come with me?”

He was stunned silent, you wanted to hang out with him? “But only if you want to! There’s-uhm there’s no pressure, obv-obviously.” He thought your panic was cute.

“Yeah, that sounds like fun. I’m in. I’ll pick you up in…20 minutes. S’that okay?”

“Y-yeah! Yes, more than okay. See you in twenty!” He could hear your beaming smile and it made his lips stretch into one as well.

“I’ll see you in twenty.” He confirmed before hanging up.

He rushed to get dressed, grabbing his extra helmet before driving the familiar route to your apartment.

Your fingertips were buzzing with nervous excitement as you waited for Soul, however, as a familiar motorcycle came rumbling to a stop not too far from you, your nerves skyrocketed. How could you forget he drove a motorcycle?!

“Hey! Ready to go?” He smiled so gently at you, it almost made you forget about your nerves entirely. Keyword: almost.

“Uhm y-yeah, I just uh…I’ve never been on a-a motorcycle before.” Your cheeks were incredibly red and he eyed as you fiddled with your nails.

“Ah shit, I should’ve asked if that was okay.” He was mentally smacking his forehead. “I could get us an Uber or something?”

“N-No! That’s okay, I don’t mind…just a little nervous.”

“Are you sure?” He’d just die if he ever made you feel uncomfortable.You nodded, determination clear in your eyes that made a little smirk lift the edge of his mouth. “Alright, hop on.”

He got on first, holding the bike steady as you climbed on the seat behind him. You had the visor up on the helmet and he thought it was adorable to see how it squished your cheeks a little bit. “You can wrap your arms around me to hold on.” He looked down and watched as your shaky hands wrapped around his torso. “Hold on tight, m’kay?” You nodded. “If you want me to slow down, tap twice.” He felt your hand gently smack against where it rested near his hip.

“Good. Just like that.” His praise made your breath hitch.

When he pulled away from the curb, he grinned at the muffled squeak that came from you before you leaned into him even more, arms tightening around him. You were so warm, he could get addicted to your touch if you’d let him.

At a light, he rested his feet against the ground and without really thinking, he rested his hand atop yours. The feeling of his hand had startled you slightly but you definitely weren’t complaining. A surge of confidence filled your body and you shifted your fingers so they slotted between his. He glanced down and almost couldn’t believe it, the back of your hand was a little cold against his warm palm so his thumb moved to gently caress your skin in an attempt to warm you up.

His coffee seemed to taste sweeter than usual but he chalked it up to the rose colored tint that you brought to his life. He had bought a few things at the thrift you had suggested going to but he was most grateful for having been able to see you step in and out of the dressing rooms, asking his opinions on outfits, both of you turning red when you had meekly stepped out in a short black skirt with cherries on it.

Sadly, the day was coming to an end and he had to drop you off back home.

But as he parked and helped you off of his bike, you seemed to be trying to prolong going inside. You gazed at him for a second. He was leaning on his bike and facing you, half sitting on his seat with his legs spread. He was also letting himself take you in. You had gotten cold and he had gladly given you his blue pullover to wear.

“Okay…well uhm th-thanks Soul. I had fun.”

“Yeah, me too…” He looked down at his feet, desperately thinking of something else to say.

You smiled sadly, upset that you were so scared to make a move. “Goodnight.” He echoed the sentiment and watched you slump back into your apartment building, still in his sweater.

“I’m such an idiot.” He groaned, moving to pull his helmet on.

“Soul!” Surprised, he halted his movements and rested the helmet in his lap.

“(Y/n)? What happe-” You rushed over and he was cut off when your lips met his. He immediately reciprocated and held your waist so you didn’t fall over, smiling into the kiss when a small noise left your throat, deepening it and pulling you closer until your hands rested against his chest.

Pulling away, you refused to meet his eyes. So he gently gripped your chin and turned your gaze back to him. “Can I kiss you again?” His pleading tone made you weak in the knees, his thumb grazing your bottom lip. You muttered, “Yes.” And he dove right back in.

Once he was home, a dazed smile was permanently on his lips.

Not even the text message from your weapon in the groupchat could change that.

Little details in episode 9

Hopefully you know the drill by now — once a week I get a little wine tipsy, rewatch the most recent episode, and point all the little things that newly stick out at me:

Sailom’s silent “what the hell” is hilariously funny to me. He’s going along with what Kang wants with minimal input, which is very sweet, but the first chance he gets where his face is hidden, he can’t hide how insane he thinks his boy is.

To give him a little bit more credit than I have been lately, this IS a more open exchange of feelings than Sailom would usually give. He turns it into a joke, but he is slowly starting to share more with Kang.

No thoughts, head empty, just Sailom’s affectionate smile when Kang says he has to wait until tomorrow to be his sugar daddy!!

I adore this little exchange. I wish they’d gotten to play it out more. It’s a nice way to show how different their backgrounds are without it being a whole THING.

Another really great exchange. Sailom NEVER talks about Kang like this, but you can tell how much more frustrating he finds this than anything that might come up in tutoring. He could sympathize with Kang being cavalier with money when it was seemingly unlimited, but not in a situation like this, when they truly need it.

I don’t even LIKE kids and this is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. @thirstkanaphan has fully convinced me that the actual best life path for Kang is coach

Kang LOVEEEES calling Sailom his boyfriend and I love it for for him

I have been married a long time and can attest that this is one of the most true to being married scenes I’ve ever seen on TV

Something important happened with this line and I need someone smarter than me to unpack it

The way Kang immediately upgraded their hotel room when he got more money. Incredible, no further suggestions.

This gives me radiantly happy in episode five Sailom vibes, which is my favorite Sailom!! It’s so wonderful when he turns off his brain and just enjoys the finer things he gets to experience via Kang

This flop of despair (and blue balls) when Sailom closes the curtain on him. Kang, I adore you.

I have hated (HATED!!) how virtually every other BL I’ve ever seen has handled the shyer, virginal character whose boyfriend pushes them to be more physical. But oh my gosh Kang pulls it off. Because first of all, all he really ever is trying to do is make Sailom blush and he usually keeps his distance after he gets the reaction he’s looking for

And second, because what he does after Sailom agrees to let him stay here, is immediately ask this question. My precious boy. Did you just want to stay close so you could open up about your feelings?

After Kang talks about how he should sell the bike back, Sailom gives him the club look. And Kang gets to see it!! Only then does he try to close the gap between them. Sailom is admittedly giving him come hither eyes

How Kang puts himself in the way when the angry guy starts talking about beating up Sailom. He goes on to say “I WON’T LET YOU”. So much (probably unwarranted) bravado, I’m obsessed

Meanwhile, Sailom, who has actually lived on the mean streets, is like “we need to get the hell out of here”

The motorcycle guys didn’t even take the money! Is that worse or better, I can’t decide?

I know I’ve talked about this previously but the fact that Kang’s worst nightmare was Sailom getting hurt again and then HE caused Sailom to get beaten up by throwing that punch is gutting (but actually in some ways Sailom willingly chose to be beaten because he stepped in between the men and Kang. They protect each other!)

I’ve come around to believing Sailom is telling the truth here. In part because Sailom never ever lies, and in part because I’m pretty sure Kang leans over and watches him type the message

Obsessed with the way that immediately after he’s satisfied that Kang has calmed down and that he’s ready to go home, Sailom instantly reverts to the person you know he wanted to be the entire trip to Korat

Once again they have an entire wordless conversation with their eyebrows. Married.

The way Kang’s wearing white pants so you can really tell in the reflection how he has his knees bent on either side of Sailom’s body when Sailom flips them in the love scene 👀👀

Dragons Rising season 2 Spoilers under the cut!!!!!! Be warned!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I haven't been this excited about Ninjago in FOREVER.

The writing in season 1 was already great but this season really stepped it up even more!!!

Dont get me wrong, I LOVE Ninjago and I have for years, but this season really has me looking back like

It probably helps that I just finished a rewatch of the whole show and watching Crystallized and Dragons Rising back to back really highlights how much of an improvement we've gotten.

Ahem. Spoilers!

I feel like everyone got a chance to shine in this half of the season. Between last season and this one I FINALLY started caring about Kai again (I love him....he just hasn't been given much to do in ages). His and Wyldfyre's dynamic is adorable and wonderful and I need him to get out of the Netherworld AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (but not before he and Bonzle become besties).

Favorite parts of the season rapid-fire:

-ZANE CALLING COLE ADORABLE AND COLE SAYING HE'S ALWAYS ADORABLE HECK YEAH COLE YOU ARE🥰🥰🥰(he's been my number one for years)

-speaking of Cole! He and Geo are as close to canon as we're probably getting and while I am a lavashipper at heart, those two are so cute.

-Lloyd facing the consequences of his actions! (And there BEING consequences) and straight up saying that he has panic attacks because of his visions. I am such a sucker for Lloyd Angst and this season was full of it.

-NYA my girlfriend my fiancée my wife WOMAN THAT YOU ARE helping Kai achieve Rising Dragon and helping Lloyd with his vision trauma. Ninjago give her even more to do in Part 2 I'm not asking.

-Jay was there for 30 seconds and they missed him again!!!! I hope he gets a bigger role in Part 2. I really liked the crumbs they dropped though...he knows he doesn't belong where he is, he knows he has powers, he is scared to let anyone know.....excellent I just need MORE.

-I am So Worried about Arin but in a good way. Obviously in Part 2 he will find out about Sora using her powers to fake his object Spinjitzu and that will cause a rift in their friendship AND feed into his feelings of inadequacy AND I LOVE IT you can't have a Ninjago character without heaping piles of trauma and angst being piled onto them by the writers

-every time Kai acted like a dad is perfect. Every single time. I'm pretty sure he's like 30 now and it's about time he got a new kid to mentor (Lloyd's all grown up😭)

-Why is Cinder kinda fine??? I was not prepared for his English voice actor😭😭😭😭

-Cinder and Jordana's rivalry was hilarious and petty 10/10 no notes

Because I missed the rewatch for the beginning of season 3, im dropping my live reactions below for the first two episodes. Season 3 is my favorite season so very excited we're here for the rewatch. This is the season I started watching live but I don't think I caught up until like 3x06.

3x01, The Big Chill:

I really love the cut from Owen's "and we never give up ... Until hell freezes over" to the blizzard like 7 months later.

I feel like we start with the turtle people too early. The amount of screen time that passes between them discovering the kid under the ice to when TNT gets there feels waaaaaaay too long. One of the more clunky pacing issues for me.

I don't love the Paragon Blue on any of TNT 😭

The camera work on the Paragon boss saying "this company's mission is to not only provide elite care but quality comfort" as he walks in front of the mission statement on the wall is top tier. That's comedy

Ahhh I never noticed Nancy using a ginger beer substitute for TK 🥺🥺🥺 best friends

I wonder how many 126 hangs they've done since the break up. Or is this one the first one?

The LACK of PAINT on Judd's PAINTBRUSH is so funny

I remember being so excited for Julie Benz when she showed up in this show. But I hate what they do with her later in the season. She doesn't really give off stalker vibes in these episodes. I am very tickled by the fact that Julie Benz, Gina Torres, and later Amy Acker are all in this show. Just needed them to all share a scene for a true Angel reunion.

Love TNT briefly running into Mateo on the ice beheading scene. Their little waves to each other and the "good to see you too" is so sweet and sad

Marjan tells Billy that #firefoxx is back up to 7 million followers. What does this mean? Does she mean her Instagram followers? Why is it "back up" to that number? Why did it go down? I know theres probably a way to follow a hash tag on certain sites but shes exclusively always talking about insta. Can you do that there?

The last time TK sees Carlos before he becomes a Popsicle is Carlos rushing out of the furniture store, off to an emergency Carlos barely explains. Idk why thats a matter of note but he must have been like, what the hell was that all about. and then 🥶

For real though, we don't even make it back to the turtle people in the first episode?????? Idk, i feel like the build up to that rescue isn't necessary. It's too long of one.

3x02: Thin Ice

starting on the kid in episode 2 starts the build up over so seeing the turtle people first feels even more unnecessary.

I don't know fire fighter protocol but would it actually be okay for Mateo to stay behind at the roof collapse and not go with his house when they are called elsewhere?

I think what also makes the boy ice rescue feel so long and so unrealistic is that the close of the cold open ends with the turtle crawling over the boys face. The next time we get back to that rescue, grace picks up the 911 call from the woman who has already gone a whole block away to call from a landline. There's a disconnect in the scenes here. With the couples discovery of the boy being the first scene of the previous episode, it's unclear how much time has passed since the boy went under. She tells grace it's been at least 5 minutes since they showed up on the scene but since they split up the scenes of the boy going under and the couple showing up there's a lapse in urgency. I think this would have worked so much better if they just cut the discovery of the boy from episode 1 and just put it in 3x02 in chronological order of events. And then it cuts to TNT arriving but theres no indication of how much more time has passed. It's really kinda annoying. As an audience member all I can think about is the boy being underwater and the show taking their sweet ass time to get around to this rescue.

Every time TK says "I was a fire fighter in New York" all I hear is Britta's "I lived in New York" throughout the run of Community. 😭😭

Gahhhh and we don't even go back right back to that rescue after commercial break. Sorry ya'll I never realized how much this pacing bothers me until I decided I was gonna live blog this.

These episodes are such great Paul episodes. I feel like that gets kinda lost in all the Tarlos drama.

This girl Lindsey has such low self esteem. Her and Paul's interactions throughout this episode is such a wonderful little story of finding confidence. They should bring her back at some point so we can see her thriving!!

For once can we see TK do a cool rescue where he doesn't end up mortally injured??

It bugs me that none of these people are wearing hats or scarves or anything

I saw someone else say this on here and I apologize for forgetting who it was but it is kinda weird that these paramedics don't get TK to perform any warming techniques after that dip into the water though I suppose they all three are more concerned about the boy, which is understandable. Still ... Kinda weird to not be able to multi task as medical first responders

And still no reaction from TK's "I can relate" comment. Hes literally sitting there shaking!!! Lol

Ok like I know there are stories of people surviving drownings even though they were under for awhile. It's just the pace of this rescue stretches it out soooooo long that it seems unrealistic especially with how the kid just wakes up coughing a bit of water. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Sometimes I just gotta laugh when the show has the paramedics spout off all the medical buzzwords so the audience understands what's happening. Tommy explaining the symptoms of severe hypothermia TO TK is so funny for this reason. He knows, Tommy knows, Nancy knows, so let's hop to it but only after we explain it to the audience 😭😭😭😭

Thomas Bordeleau goes undercover at Sharks' Ice (public indoor ice rink owned by the sharks organization, including the sharks offical practice rink) wearing an earpiece while timo, tomas hertl, and erik karlsson tell him what to say and ask through the earpiece and thomas walks up to reader and her friends including the little kids that are with them, who were playing hockey, asks them about their favorite players, reader says timo, and one littie girl in the group points exposes her crush on timo, embarrassing reader, not knowing that timo was listening to the whole thing, so then Bordeleau starts asking reader her age and stuff, and then timo comes out and walks up to reader from behind, which surprises her?

A/N: FIRST OF ALL, I could write an entire dissertation about this video. Specifically at 2:30 when the little kid doesn’t know who Timo is. Timo’s. Damn. Face!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely hilarious. Also at 2:02 I went absolutely FERAL at how he was leaning against the table. Good god, I need a minute. Don’t even get me started about 2:45 when the Timo thinks we just ruined Santa for that little girl and looks terrified at the camera. I literally kept coming back to the video for more inspo and I just started laughing so much that I got distracted every time.

In conclusion, Thank you for this video 😘 It has given me life. I will be rewatching this frequently.

Your nanny kid, Gia, is just about to combust at the sight of the Zamboni finally clearing off the ice. She is bouncing on her tiny, Bauer skates with excitement next to the other kids.

“Y/N!” She shrills. “It’s happening! We are gonna go!”

She’s been looking forward to this event for weeks. She wasn’t even sad when her parents weren’t able to make it with her. She knew you would take her. You would show up even if they wouldn’t. Not just because you’re paid to, but you’re a huge Sharks fan and have a glint in your eye for a certain number 28. You know he’s going to be here and your skin buzzes with similar anticipation to Gia’s. Although, if you’re being honest, you’ll probably stay dead silent when it comes time to meet him. This is really Gia’s show, you’re just along for the ride… and the money.

The Zamboni doors close and the little kids shuffle onto the ice with their guardians. The kids were able to bring their sticks, so they skid along to the various pucks the Sharks ice staff tosses onto the slick surface. You’re a decent skater and wind your way around the rink with Gia as she works on carrying the puck.

“Good job!” You encourage her when she is able to keep it on her stick the entire lap. “You’re getting so good, G!”

“I know!” She beams.

A few Sharks players trickle onto the ice including Thomas Bordealau and Erik Karlsson. You have to admit you’re a little disappointed when you don’t see Timo. You thought the flyer said he would be here? Maybe he will be later. Or maybe he couldn’t make it after all.

Thomas Bordeleau skates by once, doing a once over of the two of you as Gia stick handles the puck perfectly. He nods his head in admiration and skates closer.

“Hey ladies, how are you today?”

“Thomas! I’m great!” She cheeses excitedly.

“You know my name, can I know your name?” He wonders.

“I’m Gia! And I’m the biggest Sharks fan you’ve ever met!”

“Wow! Really!? I don’t know. You’re pretty little.” He holds his hand over her head and she swats at it.

“Not for long. I’ve grown a half inch in the last month.” She’s so proud of that and boasts at him with a smirk.

“Whoa, you’ll catch up to Sharkie in no time.” He points to the Sharks mascot racing kids down the ice around us.

“Yeah.” She grins, showing off her missing front teeth.

“So, Gia who is your favorite player?” He asks.

“Ummmm, well probably Timo Meier because she’s obsessed with him.” She points at you with a glint in her eyes.

“I wouldn’t say that.” You try to play it off. I mean, she isn’t wrong. The man is beautiful and you have certainly admire his ass…ets a time or two.

“You stalk his Instagram every day.”

“No.”

“You were this morning. You were like, he looks the best in blue suits.” She adjusts her tone to mock you. This kid. If she think’s she’s getting a Happy Meal after this….

“Ah… okay. I guess I need to be more mindful of my social media consumption in front of young eyes.” You cough.

“It’s all good. Timo’s a good looking dude in those tight suits.” Thomas chuckles, pausing for a moment. “What’s your name?”

“Y/N.”

“Nice to meet you. I’m Thomas. What do I have to do to be your favorite player?”

“Look like Timo.” You joke, trying to keep the mood light. He bursts out laughing, tossing his head back. You hear a slight noise buzzing but can’t quite put your finger on where it comes from.

“I don’t know. He’s a little stuffy with all the suits he wears.”

“No way. He looks like a gentlemen. Then he gets on the ice and blows people up with his checks. It’s hot. You could learn something from him.” The slight buzzing returns, but it’s louder and sounds more like laughter.

“Okay, PR is telling me I need to tell you that I’m currently mic’d up.” Thomas snorts, squeezing his eyes shut as he laughs harder.

“Oh.” Your smile drops. Okay now, it’s not as funny.

“And Timo is listening.”

Your mouth drops open in horror and surprise.

“Great.” You say with gritted teeth, looking down at Gia who watches the exchange with curious eyes. You’re trying to play it off like you’re not absolutely panicking at the idea of your hockey crush overhearing you obsess about him

“Do you wanna say hi?” Thomas quips, eyes dancing with amusement.

“Ah…. Hi?” You say, cheeks flaming red.

“He says hi back. Wants to know how old you are.”

“Oooookay.” You laugh off, suddenly. Thomas stares back at you expectantly. “Ah… his age.” You respond with a shrug.

“And Gia is your…?”

“Nanny kid.” You murmur, watching as she skates along to the boards to retrieve the puck she just shot off the dasher. “Gia, be careful. There are a lot of people out here.” You turn back to Thomas.

“You got a boyfriend?”

“Maybe the person asking you these things should come ask me himself?” You snort, rolling your eyes.

“Okay.” He shrugs then skates off without another word, on to the next group.

But Timo never appears.

As you’re leaving later, hand in hand with Gia, you see the rest of the Sharks players head out as a big group. Thomas elbows Timo in the ribs and you look away, wanting to die all over again. Not only did you obsess about him, but he never came out to pursue it any further. Knowing you’ll never actually have a chance is a disappointment you’ve never experienced.

“We are going to McDonald’s right?” Gia asks you, all innocent now that she wants something.

“Ah, I don’t know.”

“You promised!” She wails instantly, little face scrunching in irritation.

“She worked pretty hard on the ice as your wing woman, I think you should take her.” You hear a voice behind you. You know it’s Timo and your cheeks instantly flame pink.

“I don’t know about that. She was spreading secrets out there. Can’t reward that.”

“What if it ends up getting you a date?” Your stomach flip flops. You take a calming breath, looking away like you’re contemplating.

“I guess it depends on with who.”

“Him!” Gia shouts. “Oh my god, are you gonna pass out?”

“Gia, get in the car.” You laugh, shaking your head as Timo chuckles with you. “I think you’ve helped enough.”

“Yes! She says yes!” Gia insists instead.

Timo grins, then looks at you to confirm.

“You going to actually ask me or do we need Thomas to do that too?”

“Can I come to McDonald’s with you?” You close your eyes, tilting your head back and laughing.

“Never picked you as a happy meal guy.”

“I’m a Big Mac guy, but if a happy meal gets me a date, I’m in.”

“No…” You say to him. His eyebrows bolt up in pure panic. “To your earlier question, No, I don’t have a boyfriend.” Relief is visible on his face, making a warm bubble fill your chest.

“That’s good. Would be kinda awkward seeing him at McDonald’s.”

“Are we going to McDonald’s or what!?” Gia screeches out the door.

“You sure you wanna go?”

“Yeah. Something tells me you’re worth it. I’ll follow you.” He winks, then walks away to his expensive, black car, leaving you to wonder if this is actually real life.

You find yourself smirking at that image, a year to the day later, while you, Timo and Gia visit that McDonald’s again to recreate your first date.

Rewatching the 9th Doctor after this marvelous video, and I have so many thoughts already. So prepare for an unfiltered string of thoughts about Doctor Who like it's the early 2010s again

S1E1:

I never gave Rose enough credit as a kid. I loved the cool settings and the wish-fulfillment of "run away from your responsiblities into fun sci-fi worlds." I saw myself more in Donna, the sardonic, no-nonsense not blond and pink and lame and feminine companion. But Rose is so wonderful. She's a 19 year old retail worker, with a normal relationship and normal mom. Not a genius, but she's surprisingly quick to act under pressure. And where she truly shines is her heart.

Because the Doctor is the brains. He's quippy and pragmatic and carries so much experience with him that he's become a bit distanced from the people he's trying to save. He's come to view people as dumb apes who just get in their own way and need someone like him to help him.

But the show doesn't portray this as a good thing!!! We don't start with the Doctor being Cool and Sarcastic, and Rose isn't introduced as some dumb bimbo. Rose is our POV character, the one we follow without a sign of the Doctor for the first 5 and a half minutes of the episode. She's the everyman, the one asking the questions for the audience, and the Doctor is seen as a whirlwind man of mystery, one whose only constant companion is death. The Doctor has to learn to trust Rose, but the audience doesn't.

Rose is so compassionate. She gets caught up in little things the Doctor doesn't, like finding out if her boyfriend is dead and getting her mom to safety and evacuating a restaurant full of people. She cares, she brings the Doctor back to earth when he gets too in his own head, and the show supports her for it from the start. This is one of my favorite New Who episodes, I think

Side note, I feel so bad for Clive. Poor bastard was just an average guy trying to figure out something strange (Like Rose), but he got shafted HARD. I'm glad they included Mikey and Rose both showing caution when meeting him, but also didn't turn him into a complete joke. Again, it really adds to the theme of "everyone has rich internal lives and its not up to any one person to decide if they're important". Also so does the Doctor not jumping straight to "poison the fuckers an kill em dead!!"

Also I'm never gonna get over "~pete-zzaaaaaa~"

BTR REWATCH MINI POST

Big Time Rush Season 1, Episode 8: “Big Time Break”

While I will not be covering this episode in full (I do have some gifsets from it, though), I do wish to ramble a bit about Kendall and Katie, because they've got some great moments together in it.

So. Shows that portray close and healthy sibling dynamics. Makes me insane, right? Right. Siblings who love and look out for each other. When each one manages to be The Protector of the other in some way, regardless of age difference. Brilliant stuff.

And for a show that so often relies on absurdity and just plain off-the-walls humor, it manages to have depth as well, if you're looking for it. Which I am. Why else would I have created this blog but to analyze this delightful series?

Kendall and Katie may possibly be one of my favorite fictional siblings. From the very first episode, there's such a strongly established bond that you can sense even though they really don't interact that much. You see it in the way that Kendall immediately (happily) complies with Katie's request to hear the "Giant Turd" song and when Katie is going on about how often Kendall sings—including when she can't sleep at night.

I won't go into all my thoughts and feelings on the Knight family situation and how a lot of who Kendall is was likely forced upon him when he became "man of the house," but...those thoughts are there. Might explore them at a later date in another post or in a fic, but anyway! As you make your way through the first season, their relationship solidifies more, and you see the warmth. The way that they look out for each other, and the fierceness with which they love each other. Katie is an independent, tough cookie, but she's still a little kid who sees her big brother as a role model and needs his guidance. And Kendall, being the guy who always tries to be there for others and set a good example, does a wonderful job of looking after her while also knowing when to step back. In a lot of ways, he's a combination of brother, father-figure, and friend, which I have OTHER thoughts about (because that is a lot of weight to carry around at 16).

Focusing in on "Big Time Break" though, Kendall's storyline deals with him still wanting to get to know and befriend Jo, even though she has a boyfriend. At one point, Katie overhears Jo on the phone and discovers that Jo doesn't have a boyfriend at all; she's been pretending to have one for fear of romantic pursuits interfering with her career. Perfectly understandable to want to prioritize in life, of course, but Katie is not happy to hear of the deception.

Jo has been LYING to her dear big brother?? Now, she could just sit back and not get involved. After all, Kendall and Jo are older and have their own confusing, teenage lives. It'd be okay if she wanted to shrug and let them figure it out themselves. It doesn't have to be her business.

But Katie Knight can't do that. She goes right over and pulls Kendall from his conversation in a way so very fitting of her character.

This is another aspect of their dynamic that I really like: Katie's complete lack of fear to take charge when needed. Kendall isn't listening to her? She just rolls her eyes and drags him by his ear. Katie Knight, expert on gettin' things done.

She then lets Kendall know that he's been getting played "like a fiddle." Not wanting Jo to be suspicious of their conversation, she cleverly advises Kendall to turn and give Jo the "my little sister is crazy gesture," to which I must include another gif because I love Kendall's execution. He's got the best expressions.

They end the conversation with Katie essentially challenging Kendall to do the right thing, which, in her mind, is to confront Jo and get the truth out of her.

And I love this for two reasons. 1. Katie's vaguely threatening reminder that she looks up to him and 2. They have an adorable handshake! When did they come up with this?? It's so sweet, and I love them.

Lol, so much for a "mini post," but oh well. Kendall and Katie are wonderful siblings, and it delights me. I'm glad they didn't go the route of them being the type of siblings who are always bickering with each other or who ignore each other/generally just don't care. Give me siblings who love each other, who get invested in each other's lives, and who have silly little secret handshakes.
