His arms curl around your waist. His pointer finger interlocking on the other side on the front of your belly. As his chin finds its way to nestle in the crook of your neck. He hums. To himself, to both of you, it really didn't matter. It was a beautiful sound either way. He hums something familiar to you, sounding like the same chorus repeated over and over again. A never ending sound of sweetness. But then he stops abruptly. At what would have been the mid chorus of the song. "Need any help?" He asks. You can practically hear the smile smeared on his face as he turns you around to face him.

His hair was damp and frizzy from running a town over his strands. It almost looked as if he had rubbed his hair on a balloon. That was when the surprise he was even there set in. Earlier, when he had gotten home, closing the door with a loud, and to any random person, dramatic sigh, you knew he was tired. Well, more tired than usual. He didn't even have to say it. Just by the look on his face you knew his joints and muscles were aching like he had run a marathon. Cause, he kinda did. He eased his feet out of his shoes and kicked them to the side without much care. With a promise to pick them up later, he dragged his feet to the kitchen table where you were siting. Scooted out a chair then plopped down next to you. He whipped a lazy and somehow strained looking hand over his face and chuckled.

Up until then neither of you had exchanged more than a few words when he came in. "It's official," He laughed, "I'm getting old. I wonder if I'm developing premature arthritis." His smiled peaked out from the bottom of his hand that was still resting over his eyes. "Same thing as yesterday?" You asked him. He nodded and shifted in his seat. "Same thing." For the past couple days, he and his members had been working on new choreo for a show coming up. And also for the past couple days, Jisung hadn't been able to get this one move right. If he wasn't forgetting it entirely, then he was stumbling over on it. And both times he'd requested to get dropped off at your place rather than the dorm. The night before he had come back more sulky than tonight. Tonight, was more him just being plain old exhausted. He had wanted to come over to see you. ("Facetime wouldn't have cut it tonight, darling. Not like it ever really does though." He said.)

Needless to say, it made you smile just as much on the inside as it showed on the outside how happy you were that seeing you and being around you made him happy. Even if it was just being in each other's presence but doing something completely separate, occasionally nodding your head other to ask a question or to see how each other's little thing or project was doing. To cheer him up, you both had joked about how he could just replace the move, coming up with more and more outlandish and crazy ideas of what that replacement move could be. Twerking or hitting the whip and nay nay of corse begin the top two options.

And this time again, he was at your apartment. Even more wiped out than before. Earlier, you got out of your seat and stood in front of him. Jisung buried his head into your stomach, your fingers finding their way through the maze of his hair, still a little oily and sweaty feeling from before. And you stood there, thinking wow, this feels so fine. So nice and relaxing. Like a deep breath of lavender scented air. You smiled down at the man who couldn't see it on your face. "Felix called in sick this morning. He was fine yesterday but..." He trailed off in defeat, " So that makes two people that can't make it." He mumbled into your stomach. God, you thought, if it was all discombobulated yesterday with Changbin being sick, it must've been even crazier today. "I know," He slurs, as if reading your mind, "It felt like we were preparing for an air raid in there. With everyone running around." "You sure you wanna go back tomorrow?" You asked.

He lifted his head from your belly at your words, his face looking just as disheveled as his hair now. He blinked slowly. "Yeah, yeah. We both know you have to." You said, looking towards the door to make sure he had locked it behind him. Suddenly, you were pulled in for a hug. His arms wrapped themselves tightly around your middle. It sure might've looked a little bit awkward to most people. You were standing up; he was all hunched over on the edge of his seat. "How about you go take a shower and I heat up some dinner?" You suggested. This, a similar form, was usually the time one of you'd would comment on how sweaty he was, then without fail he'd make some sort of joke about the ways you could make him even sweatier. Or he'd say something about showering together to "conserve the hot water." Which was an actual real problem in your building. So he wasn't terribly off base with that.

And half the time those comments and jokes about how it'd be better if you'd just take a shower together-- then, nine times out of ten ended in him reminding you how if you wanted, he could get you a penthouse with a view with a very much working hot water heater. (“Then you won't be able to ask if we can shower together. It'll never be necessary." You tease. To which he'd say, "I keep saying it, I'd wash the sand off the shore for you." "Ok, Poseidon. Go ahead and try.") Without fail every day, no matter how sweaty and gross he was. No matter how tired he seemed. When he came to your apartment, he greeted you with a kiss that felt like for a moment, you were only focusing on each other. Noting else. He usually couldn't even get to closing the front door before enveloping all your senses in him. In something that felt strangely like a peppy beat you could dance to. Like a song that you'd never get tired of.

The way he'd pull you in your waist so gently felt like he was conveying all his love for you in One. Single. Touch. It seemed like he showed up, no matter how tired he was for anything and everything. Not like you minded one bit though. ("Shit," you laughed one time as you opened the door for him one early morning. He had come over cause he wanted to have breakfast with you. "What am I, wind? Seems like I blow you right to my door.") But now, with no complaints from you, it was back to the present with you facing him in the kitchen. The shower had seemed to pep him up a bit. He was closer to his smiley self now. He nodded his head over to what you were heating up on the stovetop, food from last night.

You had two different pans going: one for the main dish and one for the side. Without thinking, Jisung moved from you to turn the burner down a little, seeing as one was heating up faster than the other and neither of you wanted just peas alone for dinner. "There's no music playing in here or anything?" He asked. He's right. You usually had something playing in the background. In fact, you too had collaborated and made a special cooking playlist for times like these. But you had been so lost in thought you forgot to put something on. You didn't answer him. "Thought you'd be asleep." You half asked him. "And yet you're still heating up food for more than just you." He smiled, going to the drawer behind you to retrieve silver wear and napkins.

"How dare you." You put a hand to your chest in mock anger, "Maybe I'm just that hungry." Jisung came back over to you, and you caught a glimpse of him from the side al smiley again, stirring the pot of peas so they wouldn't stick. Suddenly, lot he had gotten the best idea of his life, he dropped the spoon in the pot and rushed to your room. He came back with a Bluetooth speaker he had gifted you a few months back and wearing one of your oversized zip up hoddies. At this point neither of you even had to ask, you both just shared cloths with each other. He pressed a couple things on his phone and voila! The percussion of the song he was humming earlier was heard loud and clear. Starting off with three bass chords being played. You started swaying to the beat a second before he pulled you in and interlocked hands with yours putting one palm around your waist, when the first lines of the song were spoken.

As much as he had a hard time with dancing today, he sure didn't mind swaying with you and messily trying to avoid your toes as he held your hand to the side of you two like he was preparing for a very highly refined waltz. His chin found its way to the crook of you neck again, trying to listen to the sound of your reverberating heartbeat over the singer's voice. He pressed a gently tender kiss to the middle of your neck. Where his lips just happened to fall. "Feels like I'm yours. Feels right. So fine. I'm yours. You're mine. Like paradise." He sang along, feeling as if he had written the lyrics himself to you for you. It was quiet, but the sound of his voice could have been heard throughout your apartment. It tickled the skin of your ear. You breathed out heavily as he sings along to the next part. "Give you the world if it was mine." As you both swayed along to the music, he skootched up backward and reached behind you to both of the stove top knobs to turn them off.

Which, you knew was true as much as you knew the sky was blue. His offers of buying you a whole ass apartment (or house if you wanted) didn't go unnoticed as you thought before. You knew deep down it wasn't just a little joke or some sort of chess piece pawn to get you to shower with him. Just bubbling under the surface was that lingering idea that he actually meant it all.

"You're so fuckin cheesy, you--" You got cut off with him hugging you tighter as an attempt to shut you up. You thought he might start off with some joke about well, you were the one who turned me onto this song so that's your fault. But he pulled away and held you by your shoulders, his arms stiff. "But I would. I really would." He said, barely being able to maintain eye contact. A smiled danced it way across your lips. You breathed him in. You tasted the moment on your tongue to remember it forever. You could only hum in response, snapping yourself out of your thoughts as you felt his thumbs lift off like the liftoff of a plan into neverland. You felt coolness spread to the aera where his fingers were previously. Sensing you needed some other type of reassurance to back up his words, he said, "Cause you feel like paradise. This feels like paradise." He left you by the stove smiling as he tip toed over to the cabinet to get plats for the food. He handed one to you without another word. "And no, I'm not just quoting the song." He shook his head. "What you just did for me back there?" He nodded behind him to the kitchen table as your mind flashed back to earlier.

"That was nothing." You said as you removed the lid from one of the pots. "Well, it sure was something." He laughed. Hearing the smile in his voice you turned back to him. "I'd do something much bigger than that every day. Cause I'm yours. And you're mine." You say to the man with a permanent smile on his face and frizzy hair before you. A minute later he scoops the full plates from your hands and places them on the table swiftly. Then saunters back over to you to capture your waist again with one palm and your hand in the other. Just before the singer starts ending the song talking about how its 'what a life', and almost in a whisper, sings about how she wants to share her life with them. You rock softly with him to the ending, and as you two sit down to eat, he hits play again. Yes, it was really like paradise.

jun: walking into the kitchen after coming home, after hearing the seventeen music being played, thinking that you would be casually listening to the music whilst cooking your meal. but walking in the kitchen to the sight of you dancing to 'rock'. with the spatula in one hand as the food was in the oven cooking. he leant on the wall with a smirk present on his face. when the final pre-chorus came, you turned and saw him there and shrieked, wondering how long he had been watching you for. "why didn't you make any noise when you came in? or even wish me? like why did you just have to stand there and watch.." you rambled before hiding your face in your hands. he walked to you and took your arms and held both your hands. "you were clearly enjoying yourself so i did not want to interrupt honey~" you could not tell if he was teasing you with that tone or was being serious. "maybe after we finish our meal, you could show me the choreo's you know, maybe those hip movements could come in handy after, but save your energy~ you look so fucking sexy right now" he whispering while placing a kiss on your neck before walking off. you scolded yourself for not realizing he was there and calmed yourself down before preparing your meal and the soon after events.

hoshi: asking to meet him in the practice room since he wanted to show you his new choreography. you were there for a rough 10 minutes before you got bored because god knows where he was. you fiddled with the computer and decided to play 'crazy in love'. the mirrors were covered so you barely saw yourself. soonyoung walked in and was about to call out to you but quickly quieted himself when he saw you dancing. before you could do the turning movements he pressed himself to you and you jumped and turned your face and saw him looking at you, eyes filled with lust. "sweetheart, why didn't you tell me that you could dance?" you nervously chuckled before telling him "uh...it's not that good soonyoung, dont exaggerate" he tilted his head and bit his lip before saying "oh baby i'm not exaggerating, you looked so sexy till you made me hard". only then you managed to feel something pressed behind. you did not say anything as a rose blush dusted on your face. "oh i could take you here, right now but lets keep it private shall we?" he took your hand and dragged you through the halls and to his car, trying to not let others notice his boner.

the8: minghao said he needed to get some groceries leaving you alone at home. after his single, hai cheng dropped, you would watch it on repeat. but this time, you decided to try and do the choreography. standing up and getting the key points right, you just wished that he was there for you to catch you for that certain part. "go back to that part again" you hear a voice behind you. "i thought you were at the supermarket hao?" he smiles and says "i forgot something and came back to get it but you happened to be dancing too so nevermind, i can get the things another day, i'm here to fulfill your wishes so lets do it" you guys do the choreography again and you were having so much more fun. "you're stronger than i expected hao" "of course i am, im not that weak" he says confidently. "that's not what i meant but okay" you shoot back at him. "want me to prove how strong i am? because i can and will. this time i won't go all gentle like usual too" he gave you a smug smile.

chan: you were in your shared room, finding an interesting book to read. music was playing on shuffle, you were playing yours and chan's shared playlist. it was all soft and nice as you were searching for a book on the bookshelf but then 'fast pace' started playing. "why didn't we make two separate playlists?" you thought to yourself and cursed seventeen for having catchy songs. it was about to turn to the chorus and you got scared from a voice saying "dancing without me i see? is this a plan to seduce me or a coincidence?" you quickly acted normal again before turning to him and saying, "maybe i planned this? maybe i didn't?" you looked to a seat that you brought in earlier to reach the books at the higher level but you did not manage to get there yet. chan sat down on it and looked at you nodding for you to continue. you went around him, giving him a mini lap dance before ending the song by grinding down on him" well, it resulted in 'hey tayo' playing after and you bursting out in laughter trying to avoid the teases.

I saw a ask in another blog about how it's a possibility that jm being queer could be why the company is least interested in him. And the way it just fvcked my brain....and now I can't help but think that is the reason after all. I mean what else could it be? Why would the company have a personal vendetta against him for no apparent reason???? They know how harmful it can be for jm's career if he by circumstances or of his own volition ever comes out to the masses, so they went for their safest option aka jk - the straight generic looking kpop idol with decent vocals. But the thing is he sounds the same like every other average male idol. I feel so bad for jm....makes me wonder if he was removed from the group 8 times before debut just cause of his different dance style or...?

I struggle with calling it homophobia since Jimin is not actually out, though I know what you mean. I will use the word homophobia just in this case but for the record I wanted to say that first.

I understand the concerns if people in the company know of Jimin's sexuality and that it could be a risk if word ever got out. This is the company that didn't let Taehyung sing a love song with Jimin in 2018, and Jimin recently said he made a "special request" for the beginning of like crazy choreo. But I think this is a more practical matter, a more capitalist matter, if you will. Just to call it somehow.

I've talked before when world cup happened about Jungkook being conventionally Man and Het.

And now that I mention WC, I remembered when Set Me Free pt 2 came out, someone said "imagine what smf would've looked like at the world cup opening" and I was like... yeah. I know Jimin's album wasn't out yet, but I agree, and it's just another example that opportunities aren't always granted to the most capable.

I agree 100% that looks and appeal to a young female audience is one of the reasons Hybe could think Jungkook's going to be the next big popstar. If you look at the guys that kind of "make it" in the US music market, he fits the mold way more than Jimin does. I mean, Jungkook got Calvin Klein (and not in the Troye Sivan CK sense, but in the more classic CK sense), while Jimin got Tiffany. You don't even have to dig that deep. I personally think they're both marketable, but to different audiences and any smart company who's willing to spend money on their artists would've commercialized both. Jungkook for the straights and Jimin for the gays lolol. Joking... or am I?

I'm pretty inclined to believe this was Scooter wanting JK, tho. I'm not even sure it's hybehybe though obviously bangpd is not going to be opposed to it. It's been a while since he's had a big act, I literally hadn't heard his name since probably the time he fucked Taylor over, and JK has the looks and the voice that are basic enough to be mainstream pop. He's a safe choice. Do you see someone like Scooter managing Jimin? Literally what would he do with a Jimin. I just can't see it. I wouldn't want it either.

I know this isn't about Taylor, but I just can't help thinking how, while she was with Scooter, she was a heavily stereotyped artist and her music was limited to dramatic and crying teenage girls but she actually became more respected and even more mainstream after she parted ways with him. As someone who's not from the USA and has been a fan of Taylor since 2009, what I noticed was that she gained a lot of respect and an even wider audience with Lover.

I like Jungkook's voice, but I'm also not blinded by bias. I know Jimin's vocals can falter sometimes, as well as I know Jungkook sounds like literally every other soloist in Korea. Even worse, he actually tends to imitate other people, which has always been my pet peeve. You can go and listen to his IU covers and you'll know what I mean. Then there was also Charlie Puth saying they both sounded the same or something. So, I like his voice but I don't always like his technique and literally since Euphoria, I haven't liked the songs he sings solo.

There's time, too. Jungkook has more time than anyone else, and I bet they thought they would push him because he doesn't have to enlist as soon as everyone else, and they probably thought it'd take a couple of singles out before his career took off. Jimin proved them wrong. A worldwide successful debut is possible. So, frankly, time is another asset on Jungkook's side. It makes me wonder too if he becomes what I think Scooter wants him to be, how will that mess up BTS plans of a comeback in 2025.

I also wonder if hybe is not even trying with Jimin because they know he's going to do well anyways. They didn't get him any vocal lessons as a trainee, they continuously messed with his mental health, he didn't even sing much in the first years of BTS until they went for the more pop sound around 2017, and yet he always prevailed. Bighit literally never even tried with him. As I've said before, he always had the same opportunities as everyone else and yet he was the stand out everytime. If hybe can have a successful artist while investing the least money possible, then why would they even do something. They will always look for the most profit while spending the minimum.

first of all, we're way overdue for a full album. second of all, great ep. bubble is almost infectious, a sugary sweet, vibrant song that makes it almost impossible to be in a bad moon when you listen to it; which is why it's such a crime to make it less than 3 minutes long. anyway, i think stayc, for a group just 3 years old, have managed to create such a wonderful discography filled with gems and songs that can fit in any kpop stan's playlist

i have so much fun when i listen to itzy. it's been an honor to support them since dalla dalla and see their discography grow into the catalogue it is today, no matter what some losers on stan twitter say. bet on me is probably my favorite song from by them to date, a cooler, more mature switch from their usual music. it's a perfect song to listen to while walking outside w friends at night, and the meaning behind it makes it even more special to take in.

oh, hey! the first boy-group adjacent release! was wondering when we were gonna get to that. anyway, this releasing the same night as fall out boys album was life-changing for me. like crazy is, well, a crazy song. the instrumental following the first chorus grabs you by your ankles and drags you through the rest of the song. the somber feeling in alone and face-off feels like sinking into a pit of tar ( in a good way). i'm not even sure how to describe set me free pt 2, with it's bone-shattering instrumental and jimin's booming, commanding voice suckerpunching you through the song-- like he's demanding to be heard. a one of a kind solo debut from a one of a kind performer in the industry.

yes im including both releases bc a midsummer nmixx's dream was too good to be used for just two songs and also its my ranking list and i'll do what i want. besides that, im glad that this was a better year for nmixx. it's been tough seeing the backlash they've had simply for releasing just more experimental music than other groups-- which makes me understand this switch for a more smooth, less "noisy" sound. at least for these two releases - soñar seems to have that "nmixx change up" concept back, and we love her for that. back to these two releases-- i loved roller coaster so much. fun song, fun mv, fun choreo, i love fun kpop songs.

newjeans continues to blow me away with every release. the only reason this isnt top 10 despite every song being basically perfect is bc every song is way too short (what the fuck is ador thinking making get up less than a minute long and then saying "uhhhh maybe we'll release the full ver someday 🤫. anyway) . and, although it was released in dec of 2022, i cant pass up an opportunity to talk about ditto. a beautifully haunting song with a melancholy feeling perfect for the upcoming month of january. just perfectly produced songs with concepts executed effortlessly and further cementing the group as a force to be reckoned with even with just 3 official EP's.

following their first full album in april (which is coming up soon!!), ive once again took over the kpop scene with their first official EP. baddie wasn't necessarily a concept i had imagined for ive, especially since i've typically thought of their concept as a more mature, modern version of iz*one's. but i was pleasantly surprised with the song and the music video. however, i definitely prefer both pre-releases, with off the record being my favorite of the three and of the album. i'm a sucker for kpop producers sampling older songs, so this song using "memory" from cats was no exception. ALSO LOOK HOW CUTE WONYOUNG IS IN THE MV W THOSE GLASSES ASJAKDJSDHJLE

you either get stray kids's music or you don't. thankfully, i do. or at least i really did with this album. idk. i know experimental, "noise" music isn't every kpop fan's thing but i don't mind it-- especially if its from a group that does it exceptionally well. if i were recommend a non-experimental skz song to someone, it would probably be collision- a nice step back from the loud, fast-paced songs on the album.

ateez's "the world" series is probably one of my favorite examples of world building in kpop. from the references to actual art pieces in the "guerrilla" mv to the cool "choose your character" type teasers with bouncy and crazy form, this was truly a great era for their music. both albums are a ride from start to finish. with this world building you up for dune's electrifying chorus like a rollercoaster trudging up a hill. the eery synths in we know feel like you're being prepped for a boss fight, either against or alongside ateez. although this recent album was the last of their "the world" trilogy, i hope they do decide to incorporate the instrumentals that accompanied it in future projects.

i'm happy to say that this is the first time i've enjoyed an nct dream full album entirely. in terms of title tracks, i still dont rly vibe with hot sauce, and it took me a bit to warm up to glitch mode, but ive always enjoyed most of the bsides. istj, however, is probably one of the best examples of "good" experimental sm music. a loud, techno-ish instrumental but with plenty of amazing vocal moments so the song doesnt sound like they're yelling at you. yogurt shake takes the cake as one of the cutest boygroup bsides of the year, another track that makes it difficult to be in a bad mood when you listen to it.

my ult group makes their debut onto this list with their january EP. i thought of this album as a return to their softer concept seen in songs like "fairy of shampoo" or "blue hour", but with a more mature feel to the concept. tinnitus is an absolute gem in their discography, with the song and choreography (if you watch their performance) telling the story of using music as a coping mechanism. farewell neverland is one of txt's most underrated songs, in my opinion- another perfect song for winter. a brilliant start for boy group music this year.

when bts first announced their "chapter 2" back in june of 2022, i knew that yoongi's solo release was gonna be good. initially, daechwita was one of the only kpop songs i liked in 2020, and i patiently waited for him to produce another song using korean traditional instruments since it worked with his style so well. and my god, does haegeum deliver. using an instrument of the same name, haegeum is almost terrifying-- and the music video that accompanies it makes the experience all the more immersive. snooze is probably my favorite solo bside from a bts member this year-- an overwhelming yet inspiring track with a beautiful instrumental from the late ryuichi sakamoto, who had passed away a little less than a month before d-day's release, and kim woosung's wonderful vocals. people pt 2 was also an excellent pre-release, and has left me wanting at least 20 songs by yoongi with an IU feature. just a wonderful album overall that i regret not being able to see live every day.

the second post blockberry creative freedom release, loossemble's self-titled debut EP is just a fun and easy listen. i also really appreciated them for releasing this on a friday so i didn't have to worry about going to work with less than five hours of sleep. from the jazz instrumentals reminiscent of red velvet's "birthday" in real world to the unapologetically cute intro title "searching for their friends", this album is pure kpop. i also think it was really sweet that yves, despite not being an official member of this unit, got to participate in the production of strawberry soda and make one of the sweetest b-sides of this year.

i am so unbelievably proud of jiwoo, especially as someone who's ulted her since 2018. her journey has been both heartbreaking and utterly inspiring. this ep is a wonderful solo debut and exactly how i envisioned it. aliens, an 80's-esque track, has aided me in several walks through campus, aka therapy. just an extremely solid ep that i also wish i could have seen live but alas had a final on the day she was going to be even remotely near me.

hey, that's three loona releases in a row! wacky! anyway, with how deprived i was of loona music and how often the boycott podcasts kept getting deleted off of spotify, oec could have released an album of them reading aloud from a cookbook and i would have streamed it like it was actual music. air force one is a masterpiece, a song that sounds like exactly what i would have expected to hear from odd eye circle if loona's subunits had continued to release music in official ot12 albums. the bsides are nothing short of perfect, from je ne sais quoi's hypnotic chorus to love me like's pep that motivates me when I go on the treadmill at the gym. also jinsoul with an eye patch was hot.

if i could sit down and have a conversation with any idol and talk about their creative direction, it would be kibum. i'd also like to be in a committed relationship with him but i digress. from the dystopian workplace setting in good and great to the campy 80's horror movie elements used in the gasoline concept photos, to the bowie-inspired space concept in bad love, kibum has cemented himself as a one of a kind artist-- and has made me secretly wish for him to work with my favorite groups in terms of styling and concept direction. coolas is electrifying-- tbh one of the few english songs to come out of sm that i've enjoyed. kibum is many things to me, but most of all, he is a STAR.

good lord he's done it again. after serving pure cutieful in dice and gut punching me with blue, jinki somehow does both with circle. i'll let you all in on a little secret; i'm a sucker for choirs being utilized in kpop (ex. this song, kind of dune by ateez, mama by j-hope). this song is already gorgeous on it's own, but the choir in the background of the chorus makes it all the more heart wrenching. the bsides are all excellently produced-- from the breezy track anywhere to paradise, which is heavily reminiscent of sunshine, one of my favorite bsides from his previous album.

it's hard to rank an album when all of it's songs are perfect, as has been the problem with a lot of these releases, but with fromis_9 in particular. i've said this before on twitter, but fromis are one of the very few groups to have an extremely seamless, graceful transition into a more mature concept since their debut in 2018. i can only hope and pray that pledis does more to promote them this year, especially after the success of unlock my world, and continue this gorgeous transition.

coming in at bronze is txt's third full length-album, which managed to do the impossible; make a rock song released by a kpop group NOT sound corporate. skipping stones is guttural, a song reminiscent of day6's music that, if i were just a tad bit more mentally unstable, would make me fall to my knees and clutch my chest in any public setting if i were to hear it. dreamer feels like a big sister to their older r&b track, 20cm, and just might be better than it. a solid full-length album from my ult group that i will treasure for a while.

YOU'RE TALKING TO HEAD KEPLI1AN HERE. this EP almossttt topped doublast for me. almost. magic hour, although i will defend kep1er's "noisier" music until the day i die, is the concept i admittedly think wakeone should have given them from the start. the softer, more elegant feeling exhibited in tracks like the door and tropical light fit each member down to a t and, if this is the path they will take until july of this year (except they're NOT DISBANDING they're gonna EXTEND THEIR CONTRACT UNDER A DIFFERENT COMPANY MARK MY WORDS), i am extremely excited for what's to come.

where do i even begin? this year saw the birth of the 5th generation of kpop, and i truly think there was no better song than in bloom to start it. refreshing and whimsical and sampling Aha's "take on me", in bloom is a masterpiece from start to finish. "my day starts and ends with you" rings throughout the song, promising the listener that they will stay with them. let's dissect the rest of the album. back to zerobase, the intro, is both mysterious and welcoming, ushering the listener in with a warm smile but holding something unknown behind it's back, evident in the album trailer it was originally teased in, with possible easter eggs to potential *matpat voice* LOOOREEE. new kidz on the block is fun and cool, telling other groups in the industry to look out, because here they are. and I shows off their cuter side, with lyrics perfectly crafted to fit the y/n fantasies of any zerose. our season is their standard thank you to the fans, we'll promise to stick by your side track except IT'S SO FUCKING GOOD AND THEY'RE GENIUSES FOR LISTING THE SEASONS IN THE SONG IN THE ORDER THAT WE MET THEM IN. finally, always, hao's solo song, is a sweet, vibrant song, carried by hao's beautiful vocals.

and there you have it. a very solid year for kpop for both boy groups and girl groups. this year was probably my favorite for kpop since 2018. now, with the releases already slated for january and the upcoming debuts of some groups, i'd say that 2024 already looks extremely promising be just as good as 2023-- if not better.

are you watching any of the kingdom behind the scenes videos the groups are posting? and if yes, is there anything interesting or surprising to you?

i am watching a few of them! i've seen stuff from ikon, btob, sf9, and ateez, but i'm only really following what ateez and btob are putting out. what i've seen is about what i expected it to look like behind the scenes, so a lot of this is me going 'ah yes i love being right.' i think the most surprising thing for me is that btob's choreographer/performance director is blocking EVERYTHING in that tiny cube rehearsal room. like that takes a lot of strong spatial skill and memory to plan out, especially when you see them do runthroughs. like i'm gonna hazard a guess and say that the mnet double stage is three to four times the size of that room? those dancers and btob are so skilled for being able to do that kind of fast spatial adjustment, because it looks like groups maybe only get one or two rehearsals in the mnet/studio rehearsal hall. most of the other groups were renting out larger rehearsal spaces, which is the general protocall for if you have to work on a big stage with a lot of people. sf9's dance practice videos are a great example of this (they rented a stadium for believer rehearsals lol), and they also look great, it's really clear they though about shot order and composition when choreographing. here's a fun tidbit for you! in the jealous dance video, you can a bunch of lines and shapes on the floor; that's the floorplan of the mnet stage! this is a technique that's used in theatre by stage management to mark out where the stage is and where obstacles are so directors and performers aren't making movements that would be clipping into walls. basically the stage managment team comes in before the start of rehearsal with a dimensioned groundplan and tapes everything out using accurate measurements. the most satisfying bit is pulling up all the tape on the last day of rehearsal. so this was a nice confirmation what there actually was someone with theatre training involved behind the scenes.

from what i've seen from the ateez videos i hope they're all taking very long naps right now, because they fucking deserve it after promoting and filming for kingdom at the same time. i know they're probably going to have a comeback soon because that's in line for what most groups did after rtk and i think skz has a confirmed comeback for july??? but i hope ateez (and ikon, i think they were promoting too during filming) get a fucking break because you could really tell they were tired during music shows stages.

KAI'S SOLO ALBUM IS FINALLY OUT!!! I was and I still am so hyped, haha. I really liked Hello Stranger too from the audio teasers and next to Mmmh it's really become my favourite track of the album. but the others are really really great too. Jongin did such an amazing job and he can be so proud of himself ❤🎉 Did you listen to the whole album already? Is there a song you especially like?

And the MV omg 😱💗 perfection. as expected from our performance king, really. all the different settings and how they included his teleportation powers.. oH, I think I landed a lucky guess, hehe. I just really went with my gut feeling when it came to guessing your house xD but hey, nice to know it was right 😁 but real talk: i didn't realize how young I am either before I looked up when the movies where released exactly 🙊 since I read the books in my childhood too I always felt like a part of the "Harry Potter Generation" when I am actually a whole generation later ajsbdbhd. but for real, age doesn't matter on tumblr anyway xD oh damn yes, Lupin as a werewolf was so unbelievably crappy I tend to push that memory out of my head lol, but what I really liked is that the characters looked like I had imagined them while reading in this movie. and hey the might have totally screwed up the werewolf (I don't even want to call it that, even exo's wolf mv showed us better werewolves xD), Buckbeak really impressed me the first time I watched the movie. Oh dear... the significance of Oktoberfest... somehow, people from Bavaria (the part of Germany the festival takes place in) always celebrated something in early October but the official origin is the wedding party of some Bavarian Prince 200 years ago. It actually was a horse race at first but over the years it became a festival with many more events. These days, I'm not even sure how many people actually attending Oktoberfest know about the backstory of it. It's basically just about drinking beer. Lots of it. And wearing traditional bavarian clothing and listening to traditional music. Brewing beer is a tradition Germany treasures a lot so of course it probably was also part of it in the festival's early years, just like the clothing and music, but... for real, even us Germans only know it as a drinking festival too.

Some are celebrating it for the entire time span and apparently have the time of their lives there but there are also many people (including me) who don't really get the fun of it or approve of it in any way. I'm no anti-alcohol person or something but the stories and news about it every year are just shocking and disgusting. So, I have never been there and I'm really not planning on going any time in the future. It's just... not my kind of party. 😅

Oh, it's nice to hear you had a good time with your cousin 😊 in general, your family's Thanksgiving tradition sounds like a really fun time. Being together with everybody must be a lot to take in but also really nice, especially if you didn't see some of your close family members for a while. If I may say, you are SO cute Annonie akfjhakjh but yes, agreed, both tumblr and HP are ageless 😊. But yes! For the most part the visuals were pretty good! (even tho, I’m not going to lie, the fact that Harry had blue eyes and not Lily Potter’s green eyes greatly bothered me LOL)(OH AND ALSO I imagined Sirius to be a lot more handsome aldkfjaslasdfj according to the book he was HOT right??!) 😅 But I kindof understand that you found the OOTP a little boring. I remember that at first I found the Goblet of Fire a little boring. Thats why I didn’t read the OOTP until way later than it came out and what do you know? I loved it 😊 lol.

Oh ok lol I was wondering if there was some deeper significance to it but I guess not! The traditional clothing is super cute tho! Atleast what I've seen in pictures 😅 not sure how accurate it is. But yeah, beer is great but weeks of beer celebration sounds a bit excessive tbh LOL

With my family that lives in Miami we do see each other pretty often and honestly we're pretty close! Atleast with the family members of my mom's side. My dad's side not at all LOL. But I do have family scattered that I don't see often... Hopefully early next year we'll be able to see some of the distant family members since there are 2 weddings happening early 2021 😌💖
