i feel like the general understanding of most characters in st is just wrong, but it’s close enough to the truth that you can’t say it’s wrong.

and then there’s the black and white thinking of characters being only good or bad as if there wasn’t an entire storyline this season about people being complex and more than just good or bad, or monster vs superhero.

steve: people will dismiss the fact that he was an asshole in s1 and say he was in the right that season just bc he ditched his friends at the end, as if he wasn’t slut shaming nancy or picking a fight w jonathan by being homophobic and insulting his family and making fun of his brother who was thought dead at the time. or the ppl who act like he hasn’t changed since then or that his character has gone downhill bc he he was flirting w nancy, as if it wasn’t being encouraged by all of his friends, he also didn’t just straight up say hey i wanna have six kids w you, he told her what he wanted to do with his life and then after a pretty good reaction he later said he wanted it to be with her, he wasn’t being creepy at all.

jonathan: sure it was weird that he was taking photos of them all but ppl aren’t mad abt that they’re mad that he took photos of nancy getting undressed, which ofc seems weird from steve’s perspective but we as the audience see that it was clearly an accident, he was taking photos of nancy and then she unexpectedly took of her top in front of the window while he was taking it, he saw this and immediately moved the camera away and refocused on barb. he also apologised for taking the pictures twice, even thought both times nancy was just interested in why he took them in the first place.

mike: the amount of hate he gets is insane. no one hated on lucas for ignoring will, even will only seemed to blame mike and started a fight when mike was trying to apologise, and then mike and lucas biked through the rain to apologise again before the mindflayer rudely interrupted. and ppl have the audacity to say mikes homophobic bc of the infamous “it’s not my fault you don’t like girls” line when he didn’t even mean it like that, and he immediately regret it and tried to explain himself. and now everyone seems to think mike was ignoring will again when he wasn’t, idk wtf was going on at the airport, it was awkward for everyone, but the main thing is rinkomania. will thinks he didn’t call but were told later that he did call just couldn’t get through, and they made up anyway so i don’t know why ppl are still so mad abt it. if ppl are gonna be mad at mike tho it should be bc he treated el terribly this season. but no one seems to care abt that they think he fixed it with that monologue but he didn’t

will: i think bc most of the hate is just blatant homophobia any criticism gets dismissed as that too, and you end up with this view that will does nothing wrong ever and he’s just this innocent kid. any time you point out that he was also in the wrong in s3 you get hit with “but he lost his childhood” as if he spent his whole life in UD, and he gets infantilised. he wanted them to do smth they didn’t want to, they were making him be part of smth he didn’t want to, he was ignoring their problems, they were ignoring his game. they were both in the wrong that season. now in s4 he seemed to be trying to make up for that by actually listening to mikes issues and trying to help him, he also lied which is like rule no1. but everyone lied abt smth this season and he was trying to help so when ppl say he’s being selfish that’s simply not true.

I dont rmmber the first time i fell in lob wit him but i can tell u bout the first time i realized it. one other thing that fascinates me bout kazuzu is his character development. before he lost the title to kenny, he was a lone fighter u could say??? he was the cocky n arrogant champ, the one no one could touch, the one no one could beat,,,n most of the time he had a stoic expression on his face like he didnt care bout nothin but the belt around his waist. he made that title his identity so losin it after such a long reign is of course hard. thats where the transition started. he tried a new hair colour, had a new mindset n kept on saying that he will smile from now on. then came the betrayal of jay white n gedo (his ex manager) n he was even more lost. it seemed like chaos, the stable hes the leader of, well,,,,,was in chaos. he even said they lived up to the name lol. anyway afterwards he slowly started to realize that hes not alone, never was alone, that his chaos members are there for him n that he dont need to fight this battle all by himself. through the ups n downs of the sec half of 2018, he started to show more emotions, he started to show that he loves n cares 4 his mmbers, he started to find the real rainmaker within him which we then got to see at wrestle kingdom this year. i think one important thing he learned as a character is that hes human n that winning is not everything. sumtimes u gotta lose 2 get a grip of reality n that was the case wit kazu!!!! Ever try to run while crying? What about tryin to run while crying quietly so no1 hears you? It’s not easy. Quite painful really. Icie has an echo, ekg and first cardiology apt to meet her new cardiologist on June 10. We needed to establish care with him so might as well run the tests so he can see for himself how her little heart is doing. I’m stressed. These appointments remind me that Icie has a special heart. They remind me that heart failure could be lurking and us not know. They remind me of all the trauma she has been though, and the sights that traumatized me. These appointments remind me that she could die way before her time, and before me. Carl was supposed to be working on Monday, for her appointment but after my nagging he finally took a vacation day so he could go with me. At first I think he was really annoyed with me nagging him to go w me. He was thinking I was just afraid to drive to her new cardiologist alone. I think he realized that it’s not so much the drive but the process that I need support over once he could hear my voice cracking, holding back tears while I very angrily replied to his snippy comment. He thinks I’m much stronger than I am. Most ppl do I think. I am the way I am bc I have to be. I hold a lot in. I don’t really share my feelings unless it’s absolutely necessary to move forward. I’m quite misunderstood because of it, but i’m either to lazy or don’t care enough to explain myself to be more understood. I can say this : 1.) just because I’m quiet doesn’t mean I’m not having a good time. I’m just not one of those ppl that constantly need to fill the air w noise. Here is peace in being quiet and I feel a lot more ppl need to learn that lesson. And 2.) Just because I’m alone doesn’t mean I’m lonely. I’m far from it. If I even need to further explain why that is, you haven’t been paying attention. I think how comfortable I am not having people around me during my free time makes people uncomfortable and I’m ok with that! I hope Icie does well at her appointment. I hope her heart is functioning well and that the new cardiologist agrees with our current plan. I hope the residual VSD has closed on its own. I hope she doesn’t have to go back for a year. There is so many great things I’ve been wanting to write about but it seems it’s back to the nitty gritty here. Maybe after I update on her appointment I can write some fun things. Like how she went to her first toddler story time. Or her first plane ride. Or maybe even about the move to Texas! There are major story gaps since I haven’t mentioned that we moved from PGH to Lake Jackson TX, but it happened and that needs to be discussed. But I have to try to wake little wormy up from her nap. It’s definitely time for dinner now. Say a prayer for Icie could you?❤️

im kinda curious about what you think of jihoon?? hes my bias but even so ill be the first to say hes not the no1 most talented trainee. however he IS good and relatively well rounded (his dancing is probs better than average) and to me he just fits in?? this may my bias creeping in but he suits most concepts and is good enough to warrant being in the final 11 but without standing out too much if that makes sense?(1/2)

i feel like ppl want every member to be unique and incredible and while i agree to a certain extent, too many cooks spoil the broth?? like if u took every one of the most talented currently debuted idols they probably wouldnt make a good group bc everyone would just overpower each other making a mess and in a group of 11, u just dont really need (imo) every member to be insanely talented bc then theres always someone not getting what they deserve while if you have certain members (2/3)

Re: Jihoon- I really like him a lot. I like his no-nonsense and smart approach to screentime. Right from the start he was thinking of ways to help him stand out- which is essential when you’re from a tiny company among 90+ trainees. (I also like this about Seongwoo, too). I also like that he can adapt well to most concepts so I’ve never felt like he jarringly stands out in a bad way. He’s also very charismatic on stage and you can tell he puts work into his face expressions matching the mood of the song. (also I think he’s super cute and I love his silly side, even though mnet didn’t show it much. also those jigglypuff memes were A+++ and his friendship with Baejin + Guanlin is so lovely).

I honestly can’t get over how smart he was on the show- from the neon shoelaces to the jeojang to the new aegyo thing he did. He seemed to always be thinking ahead and took the fact that Mnet barely gave him screentime at the start in stride. His popularity is fascinating to study and if given the time, I would love to analyze the different psychological factors that may play into it. 

It’s great when people are well rounded of course and there are a lot of well rounded people in the final group: Seongwoo can sing and dance, Woojin can rap and dance, Sungwoon can sing and dance, etc, etc. So even though they may be known for being super good at one thing (Seongwoo with dancing, Sungwoon with singing) they can still adapt to other positions well. I do agree that a large group always poses the danger of people not getting enough lines or not enough screentime- however a good song arrangement. good choreo, and good video directing can work wonders in making sure everyone has moments to shine (an example I can think of his how the choreo for Super Hot gave everyone a moment to shine- shout out to Samuel for the fun, inventive choreo, btw).

what i already know about them: debuted in 2019 !! oneus’s brother group. theyre under rbw they have 5 members. yonghoon (leader & main vocal) harin (drummer) dongmyeong (keyboard) cya (bass & rapper & maknae) & kanghyun (guitar). theyre a band not an idol group. dongmyeong is a minute older than dongju. (ik a lot of like Basic facts just i have to get into the members & behind the scenes stuff yknow !!)

• what i like most abt them: honestly offstage theyre rly humble and chill. like the one behind show they did where they just sat and made bead bracelets w the mc for 15 minutes and just like didnt try to overact for the camera and they were just vibing ?? perfect. theyre so funny and incredibly talented its insane. ik i say they dont have any bad songs but like they literally do not imo & i could listen to them constantly (& i do) even though they dont have a ton of music compared to other groups. also them being underrated and a smaller group means the fandom is relatively normal and its much easier to not feel like ur going insane when interacting w other tomoons lmao. also since they are a nobody group, all their albums on depop and stufd are rly cheap. shoutout to the person who sold me ‘lived’ album for $5 plus shipping yesterday

leo:  possible cry baby but not when everyone looks,rly funny when he lets out, unsure of himself, if he does One Thing Wrong he absolutely gets paranoid and doesn’t give up until he gets it right, PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE, someone: “is anything wrong?” leo: “NO NOTHING’S WRONG CANT YOU SEE THAT EVERYTHING IS ABSOLUTELY FINE???”cares so much about everyone and is basically a mom, super fucking crabby and moody, cares a lot about his family and loves to please splinter - until something he thinks is wrong happens (city at war), dependent of his family, not as good with hand to hand combat as he is with the weapons. probably lawful good, a fucking dork, manipulative to karai, when in confrontation with raph, calls him of numerous names while raph struggles to make his point and snaps at him, but it’s okay because he is the good Guy, teacher’s pet.

mikey: vain, tries to please everyone with his jokes to an extend where it annoys everyone a lot, lazy, a bit selfish from what i’ve seen in the show “aka IF I DON’T PLAY VIDEO GAMES WHILE U DO I’LL MAKE A SCENE”,  smarter than u, contrary to popular belief would rather eat than cook (episode: the christmas aliens) and is a shit cook (the shredder strikes back part 1), indecisive lil fuck, can view things from other’s perspectives, NOT A CRY BABY like everyone portrays him as?? where did this even came from, a bit of a strategist! can pilot space ships, FASHIONISTA, loves to mock raph because he’s quick to anger and it’s funny to him, manipulative when convenient (in the battle nexus arc when he beats raph easily), likes justice, if he feels it’s not fair he’ll make sure to tell you, avoids physical confrontation, a bit of a coward but always ends up facing his fears.

don: emotionally unavailable, “here i made you a toy so you can leave me alone”, a fucking mess, stubborn to the point of not giving up if he doesn’t get it right, doesn’t like to be proven wrong, kind of a jerk, cares more about others than himself, has a tongue that cuts like a knife, likes to mock his brothers but never to a point that hurts them, very understanding, generous, probably has difficulties expressing how he feels about his family so he just builds them things, runs away from opening up about his problems like a pig runs from a knife, if a subject doesn’t interest him then he doesn’t give a shit, actually really strong physically and emotionally! complex personality. wicked sense of humor when he chooses to let it out, has to talk about little things no one cares about, loves to learn! contrary to popular belief, lowkey rebellious: when leo says YOU CAN’T GO he’s always like HEY GUYS I FOUND SOMETHING THAT COULD MAKE US GO ANYWAY, sides with raph most of the time, also friendly. weird, like he doesn’t do anything weird, it just radiates off of him, easily distractable, which is the reason why he knocked out so much in battles, p great at hand to hand combat, super intelligent how could i forget, just a happy lil guy that will fucking murder you if you mess with his family, loves fun and has no problems jumping off a bride to test whatever invention he built, anxiety disorder

raph: besides the ANGER ISSUES™, cares a lot about his family, stubborn, impulsive, NOT A MEATHEAD!!, generous, independent, Rebellious, quick thinker, likes to read, a good leader, tries to get his family approval, works really hard for it, understanding, comforting even, a real fucking sweetheart when he chooses not to hide it with his macho attitude, funniest turtle imo bc he drops the best one liners, likes to be the first on everything but seems a bit immature and strange when he tries to make jokes and no1 laughs, probably a cry baby, knows how to arm (poor verb but idk what else to use) a bomb, can fix his motorcycle no problem, great with kids and likes cats, respect him and he’ll respect you too. the first to hug you/comfort you when you’re feeling down, childish, lives under leo’s shadow because he’s the Favourite Son, no matter how hard raph tries to impress Splinter, overprotective, real fucking cute when clueless.
