After a week of being on bed rest, Kate was finally let out of the infirmary, though she still wasn't able to do much, including training and missions, which annoyed her but was a relief to me since it meant less chances of trouble.
Instead, she helped me come up with a way to tell Clint that I wanted to hold off on the archery training for the rest of the month and instead give hand to hand combat training more work with Natasha. That was easy to set up, since Nat loved me, so 'I' was able to talk her into giving 'Kate' some personal training. Clint and Nat were both okay with it, so that made one thing easier in my life.
"You better make me look good in front of Natasha," Kate was saying after we told Clint the new plan. "She's the Black Widow. I can't be caught slacking."
I chuckled as I peeled my orange in the kitchen. "I know, don't worry. I'm good at making impressions. She's gonna love training you, and when we're back to normal, you're gonna be in Nat's good graces.”
Kate grinned. "Hell yeah."
I rolled my eyes, hiding my smile, and began to eat my orange as she told me about her obsession with Natasha's fighting style. I'd like to say I was listening, but my attention was stolen by Wanda who was stood by the dining table, talking to Bruce about something or the other.
She looked good today, I wouldn't lie, wearing a tight vest top and some joggers that accentuated her curves in all the right places. Her red hair was pulled back into a ponytail, exposing her sharp jaw line and pursed lips as she listened intently to whatever Bruce was blabbing on about, and I found myself biting my lip as I subtly checked her out.
Suddenly, I was slapped on the arm harshly and I jumped at the contact, snapping out of my daze.
"Dude!" Kate exclaimed with a look of disgust. "Quit it!"
When I saw myself looking back at me, I remembered who and where I was and straightened up.
"Shit, sorry, Kate," I said quietly so nobody could hear. "My bad."
She still looked horrified as she stole my orange from hand. "Yeah it's your bad!"
I snuck a final glance at Wanda, feeling a pinch in my chest, before following Kate out of the kitchen.
————————
When I was working out in the gym one day, I didn't expect Wanda to approach me and ask if I wanted to spar with her. And then I remembered she was asking Kate and not me, so I agreed for Kate's sake because she'd been mithering me constantly about building a friendship with Wanda for her.
"You've got powers," I said to Wanda when we got into our positions on the mats. "You're not gonna, like, use them on me, right?"
She chuckled at my expression. "C'mon, Kate, I'm not mean. It's a no powers gym anyway. I was actually hoping you could teach me a thing or two. Clint says you're a martial arts professional. I'm barely average without my powers, so I thought you'd take it easy on me."
"Right..." I licked my lips nervously. "I guess I can do that."
She smiled playfully before making the first move. Thankfully, hand to hand combat was a strength of mine, so mirroring Kate's abilities in this department wasn't difficult. I'd sparred with Wanda many times, so it was easy to anticipate her moves. She was probably the most powerful Avenger of everyone, including the other powered Avengers, but she wasn't wrong about her combat skills needing work, and I managed to land her on her back quite quickly.
"Shoot, sorry," I said when she hit the mat with a thud, feeling bad when her face scrunched with discomfort. "You okay?"
She sighed before smiling reassuringly. "I'm fine. It's part of the job."
I held out my hand for her and she accepted it, letting me pull her up carefully.
"You're seriously good," she said, before quickly adding, "Not to sound so surprised, of course. You wouldn't be here if you weren't! I just– it's a shame we haven't worked together as much. Maybe that should change. Especially with how you handled our last mission together."
I wasn't sure what to say even though I knew this would probably make the real Kate pass out from excitement, so I simply smiled in response.
We continued to spar with one another, keeping each other on our toes and putting up a good fight before deciding to take a quick water break. I spotted myself AKA Kate when we did, so I approached her with my water bottle to see how she was doing. She couldn't exactly work out because of her injury, so I wondered what she wanted.
"Did I just see me and Wanda Maximoff sparring together?" she asked with excitement when I stopped before her.
I smiled with amusement. "Yes, you did. She asked and I knew you'd kill me if I said no."
She squealed, shoving me with enthusiasm, before catching herself and calming down instantly. I raised an eyebrow at her self control, impressed.
"So, how's it going with Wanda and you?" she asked considerately.
"Alright I think... she actually manages to talk to me without glaring which is always nice."
"That's because you're me and not you," she reminded me, bursting my bubble.
"Right," I said with a sigh. "How's things going for you?"
She shrugged, before a smile appeared on her lips. "I was talking to Natasha earlier and we actually had a cool chat about a mission she did not long ago. It was awesome. And she's actually pretty funny when she wants to be."
"Yeah, she tends to reserve her jokes for her friends," I said with a stifled smile, "hence why you've never heard any of them."
Realising what I was insinuating, Kate nudged me in the arm harshly. "Arsehole."
I laughed at her pout. "Okay, I should get back. Remember not to overwork yourself, yeah? Take it easy."
"And remember to make me look cool in front of Wanda," she replied, and I rolled my eyes playfully.
We went our separate ways and I returned to Wanda on the mats. She smiled at me when she spotted me, before her eyes drifted over my shoulder and she grew distracted. Her smile faded as she focused on whatever was behind me, so I stepped in front of her line of sight.
"You alright, Wanda?" I asked, and she snapped back into reality, blinking.
"Huh? Yeah. Sorry. Let's continue."
I quirked a brow, glancing over my shoulder to see Kate talking to someone by the gym doors, and realised she was staring at her, or rather me.
"Why don't you go and say hi?" I encouraged Wanda, meeting her gaze.
She considered it, to my surprise, but shook her head. "No, it's alright."
As she took another sip of her water and put the bottle to the side, I asked, "Are you just going to never speak to her again?"
She frowned slightly at my words. "I don't know, Kate."
It was wrong of me to say, but I couldn't help it. "It looks like you miss her."
Her jaw tensed, but she didn't snap like I thought she would. "It doesn't matter. Forget that. Let's just train, yeah?"
I hoped that meant she did because I missed her, too. So much. And all I wanted to do was tell her that.
————————
Just when I thought I could keep my distance from Wanda like I should have been doing since the start, I was invited to go out for food and bowling with her and Clint as Kate. I tried to decline, but Clint was insistent that I deserved the break and needed to take time to unwind as well as work, so I had no choice but to attend.
Kate was jealous that she couldn't actually go, which was why she forced me to be enthusiastic when I went, so for her, I made the effort to enjoy being there like she would have.
It started off fun, to my surprise. I saw a different side to Clint, since he was closer with Kate than he was to me, and I also saw a side of Wanda that she hadn't showed me personally since we broke up. Pretending to be Kate made it easier to get lost in the moment and enjoy my time with the other two Avengers.
And just like that, my fun was cut to a halt when Clint got a call during our third bowling match.
"I'm sorry, guys, but I'm gonna have to miss the rest of this get-together," he said once his call ended. "Family emergency."
My eyes widened at the thought of being left alone with Wanda, but Clint didn't notice as Wanda was looking to him with concern.
"Is everything okay? Is it serious?" she asked thoughtfully.
"Oh, yeah, nothing too serious, but I gotta help out Laura," he said with a reassuring smile, before looking to me, too. "Have fun, Kate, yeah? You deserve it."
I nodded slowly, watching him wave goodbye to us both before leaving. Wanda looked to me with a smile, oblivious to the panic I was feeling.
"Looks like it's just us," she said. "How about we finish up this game then get some food? I'm starving."
I smiled nervously. "Sounds good to me."
Her smile widened and she moved past me to have her go since it was her turn next. I closed my eyes briefly, praying to God that this would go smoothly, before turning around to pretend to be Kate.
To my surprise, it didn't go terribly, and bowling with her wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. She was making light conversation about some stuff from work, asking about how I was doing with training, and I could pretend that I wasn't secretly pining over her for a moment.
"You know, I thought you were supposed to be good at bowling," she said after I had another go, and she looked like she was trying not to laugh. "Hand eye coordination and all that?"
"Hey! I'm actually trying here!" I defended with an amused smile.
She chuckled and went to have her go, getting a strike instantly. I rolled my eyes playfully when she walked past me with a proud smile, before taking my go. I was never good at bowling and I didn't find it enjoyable because of that reason, but I felt the need to impress Wanda. So, I took a deep breath and swung the ball, only to scrunch my face up when it went into the lane next to us and knocked over their pins.
"Shit," I mumbled, before looking to the group beside us. "Sorry! Sorry!"
They waved it off, but my face was heating up as I went back to grab another ball. Wanda was laughing at my dismay, eyes squinted and smile wide. She looked stunning, but I had to remind myself who I was right now.
"That was an accident," I told her knowingly, before going in for another go.
Thankfully I didn't miss this time, and knocked my pins down in both goes before returning to Wanda.
"You're almost as bad as Y/N," she commented with a nostalgic smile. "Probably just as bad."
I smiled nervously. "Yeah, it's amazing how friends can pass on traits, huh?"
She didn't seem to pick up on my words as she grabbed a ball. "Come on, I'll show you how it's done."
Not having a choice, I joined her side and expected to just be watching her demonstrate how to make a good throw, but she placed the ball in my hands instead. I forgot how to breathe when her hands wrapped around mine and she took a step behind me. It was all friendly in her eyes, of course, but I was freaking out, naturally.
"Okay, you're gonna pull it back like this," she narrated as she moved the ball back with me, "and then throw it like this!"
Together, we threw the ball and she stepped back to see if I'd made the throw successfully. I was barely paying attention as I was too busy hoping she couldn't hear my racing heartbeat or see how nervous she made me. She smelt so good.
Fuck, no. I was Kate, not me. I couldn't think that.
...but God, she did.
"Hey, you got a strike, Kate!" she exclaimed joyfully, patting me on the back. "See? It's not so hard."
It was hard to avoid her contagious happiness, and I was soon smiling at her sparkling eyes and matching smile. So freakin' beautiful.
We finished our game shortly after that before grabbing some food at the diner in the bowling alley. As we were tucking into our burgers, Wanda sighed contently and looked to me with a smile.
"This has been really fun," she said sweetly. "Just what I needed lately."
I quirked a brow. "What d'you mean?"
She shook her head. "Nothing. I just meant it's been nice to hang out with you outside of work. First time for everything, right?"
Noticing she definitely had something more to say, I set my burger down and gave her a knowing look. "Wanda, c'mon. You can talk to me."
She distracted herself with her food, thinking momentarily, before sighing and meeting my gaze. "It's been hard lately. Without Y/N."
"Right..."
"You were right when you said I missed her," she admitted, referring to our brief conversation during training the other day. "I do."
My heart began to ache when she said that; I didn't think she cared anymore.
"I'm sorry," I said softly.
She shook her head, eyes falling to her burger. "It's not your fault. It's just annoying. I'm trying to move on, but she just keeps haunting me at the back of my mind."
I frowned, seeing the conflicted expression on her face and only imagining how she must be feeling. Without thinking, I rested a hand on hers on the table and squeezed it gently.
"I'm here if you wanna talk about it," I told her, hating that she was conflicted because of me.
She smiled a little, but it didn't reach her eyes. "Thanks, Kate, but you were Y/N's friend first."
"And I'm your teammate, too," I reminded her. "I'm here for you just as much as I am with her."
She rested her other hand on mine, squeezing it in response, before letting go. I lowered my hand and watched as she nodded gratefully.
"I'll get over it eventually," she said, and I wondered if she was trying to convince herself or me. "Right now, everything is just reminding me of Y/N, so it's hard."
"Like bowling."
"Yeah..."
I sighed regretfully. "Maybe bowling was the wrong choice of plans for tonight. Still too soon to be reminded of your first date."
"Exactly," she agreed sadly, before blinking and looking up. "Wait, how d'you know that bowling was our first date?"
Fuck.
"Oh, er," I racked my brain for an excuse, "Y/N told me once. Said she took you to a bowling alley."
She hummed, nodding in confirmation, and I breathed out with relief at my quick thinking. I couldn't let that happen again or she'd definitely suspect something.
"You know, Y/N still talks about you," I said. "Like with the date for example. And basically anytime it's relevant."
She glanced up at me with what I think was hopefulness. "Really?"
"Yeah," I said, before a smile crept on my lips. "She tries to pretend she doesn't like you, too."
Wanda gave me a disapproving look, though a smile ghosted her lips. "Very funny."
My smile widened. "I'm just being honest, Wanda. Calling it how I see it."
She rolled her eyes, but her smile became more prominent, and I'd never seen such a perfect sight.
————————
I'd like to think that as time went on, Kate and I became pros at being one another, and that nobody suspected a thing, but that was far from the truth.
Anytime Kate would do something out of the ordinary as me, I'd get given a look that was something along the lines of did she wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?
And I wasn't any better to be honest. The amount of times I failed to react in a Kate-timely fashion to certain things that happened, such as being allowed to help Tony out with one of his new suits or sitting in on one of Steve's meetings with a charity who we sponsored, was too common. Those weren't out-of-the-ordinary situations for me, but Kate Bishop was still new to the team, and pretending to be excited about said stuff was painfully difficult.
The only person who thought to question it however, was Wanda. And that was probably only because she knew me too well and definitely noticed a difference in how I was acting compared to usual, or cared enough to say something.
I was heading out with a book and my water bottle when Wanda found me in the hallway, falling into step with me.
"Oh, hey, Wanda, what's up?" I asked, before taking a sip of my water.
"Hey... this is random, but do you think Y/N is acting strange lately?"
I almost choked on my water as I widened my eyes. "Erm, what? What do you mean?"
She glanced at me with a distracted gaze. "I don't know, she's just being different, don't you think?"
I tried to remain calm as I answered, "How do you mean?"
Playing with the ends of her hair as we walked, she said, "Well, for one, she doesn't usually wake up so early in the mornings. She's not a morning person at all. Yet lately, she's always the first one in the gym. And I don't even know why because she can't work out properly because of her shoulder."
I cursed out Kate in my mind, wondering why she was ever a morning person in the first place. And also, why did she still insist on doing some sort of exercise when she was injured? Kiss up.
"Maybe she just wants to change things up," I suggested, hoping it was reasonable enough for Wanda to agree with, but she shook her head with uncertainty.
Her eyes showed her determination to find out the truth as she looked to me. "I dated the girl for four and a half years, Kate. She would never just suddenly decide to be a morning person."
I broke our eye contact for fear she could read right through my lies, and cleared my throat. "It's not a big deal, Wanda. I reckon you're just overthinking it."
Ah, yes, the good old gaslighting technique. How polite.
"It's just strange," she said, chewing on her lip. "Like the other day, I overheard her talking to Sam about some trend on TikTok or whatever the app is. I didn't even know Y/N knew what TikTok was."
I laughed nervously whilst mentally killing Kate in my head. "She doesn't live under a rock, Wanda, give her some credit. And I've definitely shown her TikToks in the past."
She sighed, running a hand through her hair. "Maybe she's just different now..."
I glanced at her, seeing the frown on her lips, and wanted nothing more than to kiss it off her. "You could talk to her. She might not be as different as you think."
Wanda shook her head slightly. "I don't know."
"You don't have to, but she might just want to talk to you, too," I said carefully, trying to read her expression, but she was doing pretty good at hiding what she was thinking.
"I should go," she finally said, avoiding answering, before giving me a small smile. "Catch you later, Kate."
"See you later," I said halfheartedly, eyes following her as she turned to leave.
————————
My words to Wanda must have made some difference, more than I realised, because Kate approached me barely two days later with a suspicious grin.
"What is it?" I asked, hoping she hadn't done something that would get us in trouble.
She nudged me eagerly. "Guess."
I rolled my eyes. "Kate." She was adamant that I guessed, so I sighed dramatically and said, "Okay, did you book a holiday?" She shook her head. "Did you steal Sam's falcon wings?" Clearly not, since she shook her head again, so I said, "Did you realise how annoying you are and decide to leave me alone?"
"You're very bitter to say that your ex-girlfriend just talked to you for the first time properly."
It took a second for me to realise what she said, but when I did, I looked to her and realised why she smiling suspiciously.
"Wait, what? Wanda spoke to me? When? Where? Why? What did she say?!"
Kate laughed at my eagerness. "I feel bad now. It wasn't actually a conversation. She just said good morning to me when she made her coffee."
My smile grew wide at the thought. "She did? That was it?"
"That was it."
I rested my hands on her arm, pleading with my eyes. "And what did you say?"
Kate quirked a brow with amusement. "I said it back?"
I grinned. "You said it back."
"She smiled, too, if that makes a difference."
"She smiled, too," I repeated with a lovesick grin.
Kate chuckled. "I thought you'd wanna know. This means she's talking to you again, right? Congrats, I guess."
I hugged Kate tightly. "Thanks, Kate. This is huge."
"Anytime, idiot."
Wanda was talking to me again, and that was the first step.
————————
It was hard to think about anything other than Wanda as the month went on. Now that I knew that she wasn't entirely ignoring my existence anymore, all I wanted to do was make the same effort back, and it was infuriating that I couldn't because Kate was in my body.
I wanted to tell Kate to try and show more interest in Wanda, but she was as awkward as they came and I couldn't blame her since I was in love with Wanda and she was in awe of her – two very different things. So, I just had to make do as was, which meant treating her as Kate would and trying very hard not to go beyond that threshold. It was hard though – I missed her so much.
The communal area was rarely used unless several of us finished a mission at the same time, so the TV was always free and I preferred the couch over my bed. Planning to spend the evening there, I grabbed some snacks from Kate's snack drawer and went over. Only, to my surprise and initial disappointment, somebody was already there.
Before I could turn and leave, the person poked their head around the TV at the sound of me coming in, and I realised it was Wanda.
"Oh, hey, Kate," she said when she saw me, smiling.
"Hey, Wanda," I said with a small smile. "Sorry, didn't mean to disturb."
"You didn't," she assured me, before nodding to my hands. "Are those snacks I see?" I looked down, remembering I was holding food, and looked up to see her trying not to laugh. "You were planning on sharing, right?"
"I guess I am," I said playfully with a sigh, and her smile widened as she moved over on the couch to make room for me. "Chocolate or gummy worms?"
"Surprise me."
I jumped on the couch beside her and gave her the chocolate before digging into the packet of gummy worms.
"So, what are you watching?" I asked, glancing at the TV and vaguely recognising the show from something she'd watched before.
"Bewitched," she said between bites of chocolate. "I can change it though if you want to watch something else."
I shook my head, leaning on the armrest and trying to make out the episode. "No, it's fine... this is the one where that guy is a frog, right? He's trying to get Tabatha to turn him back into a frog?"
It was ringing a bell as the episode played on, since it was something Wanda had forced me to binge watch with her several times when we were together. She always loved the old American sitcoms and so I had to love them, too, but I didn't mind because it was adorable watching her explain the plot.
"You've seen this before?" Wanda asked, raising an eyebrow with disbelief. "I would have thought this was before your time. Like waaaaaaay before your time."
Suddenly feeling nervous under her stare, I bought myself some time by chewing on my gummy worm before saying, "My grandmother used to watch this show when I visited her as a kid. I guess I recognised it from that."
"Huh." She accepted it and nodded, looking back to the screen. "Well, I used to watch this all the time as a kid, too. And then it just stuck with me. Y/N was nice enough to buy me the box set when she caught me watching it on TV, back when I first joined the Avengers."
I smiled to myself at the memory, remembering the exact moment she started to let me in when she first joined. It was the only way I could get her to notice me, and then I learned she was just homesick and the shows helped.
"Hopefully you settled in better than I did," Wanda continued jokingly, and I realised she was talking about Kate, not me.
"Yeah, everyone was super nice when I came here," I said, clearing my throat. "Clint is the perfect mentor. A dream, really."
She hummed in agreement, before tilting her head to study me. "So, you're already from New York, right? That's what I heard." I nodded, and she continued, "So this mustn't have been much of a difference for you. Moving to the compound."
"Not really, except for the living with the Avengers bit."
She smiled at my joke. "So, didn't you have friends or anyone you left back home? Family? Girlfriend?"
I tried to use everything I knew about Kate to answer, hoping it sounded genuine. "There was an issue with my mum and she's now in prison, and my father died when I was a kid. Back in the Battle of New York..."
"I'm sorry," Wanda said with a sympathetic frown. "I know how hard that is. Losing family."
I nodded awkwardly, unable to meet her gaze. "It's okay... but yeah. Nobody else. I still keep in touch with some friends from university, but I've got friends here, haven't I? And then, no girlfriends or anything."
"That's surprising," she said with amusement, and I glanced up to see she was hiding a smile. "Y/N always said you were a flirt. Or tried to be anyway."
I refrained from laughing because that was exactly what I'd told Wanda when Kate had first joined us. It was a mere observation, since Kate thought she was so cool and could get any girl she wanted, when that was in fact the opposite of the truth. I knew because that was how I was. But at least I knew it.
"Yeah, she's not wrong," I said, deciding to give Kate a little bit of a reality check. "Every time I think I'm getting somewhere with a girl, it goes down the drain because I'm apparently not as smooth as I think I am."
Wanda laughed quietly, shaking her head. "Hey, it's okay, you're still young, you've got plenty of time to perfect the flirting. If it's any consolation, I'm not too good in that department either."
"You don't have to be though," I said without thinking. "I mean, look at you."
Even in the dimly lit room, I made out the pink dusting her cheeks and thought she looked adorable when she didn't know how to accept compliments.
"That's sweet of you to say," she said with a bashful smile.
"Girls look at you once and that's it," I continued lightheartedly, but I meant every word. "You give them one glance and they're hooked."
And it wasn't a lie, because that's exactly what she did to me.
"Maybe you're not so bad at flirting as you think," she said jokingly, "but try keeping it professional, yeah?"
I bit my lip to contain my smile. Wanda was so easily flustered, it was adorable.
"Y/N isn't very good at flirting either," I said, pushing it just a little but wanting to know more.
"No, she's not," she agreed with a sigh, smile fading into a grimace.
"So, how did she land someone like you?" I asked, watching her curiously.
She looked down at the chocolate in her hand, lips pursed as she thought of her response.
"We were friends first," she said softly, a small nostalgic smile appearing on her lips. "She didn't need to flirt. She just... had to be herself."
One of life's biggest mysteries – how I managed to land someone like Wanda Maximoff. It never made sense to me, even when we were together, because she was everything I wasn't, and I wasn't as smooth at picking up girls like others could be. Her liking me back was just me getting lucky.
"And that was enough?" I asked, unable to look away.
She nodded slowly. "It was. She was thoughtful and considerate, and she made me feel at home when I definitely didn't. She was there for me, always, even when I didn't know I needed her..." A soft sigh escaped her lips, her smile twitching. "And then I just started to fall for her. Everything about her. Her smile, her terrible jokes, her cute attempt at learning Sokovian for me."
My heart ached as she spoke of me with a bittersweet tone, especially because I was sure she didn't like those things about me anymore.
"That sounds sweet," I said weakly.
"Yeah, it does, doesn't it?" she said sadly, lips curving into a frown.
I should have left it there, ended the conversation or changed the topic, but I couldn't help it. I needed to know if there was ever a second chance on the cards.
"Would you ever consider giving it another go?" I asked hesitantly. "You were together for a long time. It seems a shame to throw all of that away."
She glanced at me with suspicion. "You're very pro-relationship."
I straightened up in my seat. "I, er–"
"Is Y/N making you talk to me?" she asked. "Is that what this is?"
I shook my head a little too quickly. "No, Wanda! That's not– I'm just looking out for my friend."
She hummed, lips pressed together and eyes studying me curiously before looking away with defeat.
"I just thought that you both seem miserable without one another," I said, careful not to go too far. "Four and a half years is a long time."
"Well, unfortunately, not all relationships are meant to last," she said bitterly, before crossing her legs and leaning back into the couch.
"But you both clearly still care about each other," I pointed out.
Her eyes found mine questioningly. "Did Y/N say that?"
"Not explicitly," I said, and regretted it because she sighed and looked away again, "but it's very obvious, Wanda."
She rolled her eyes. "Whatever. It's too late for all of that."
"She's always telling me how she should have acted better," I said, unable to stop myself from pouring out my heart to her, because I didn't want to lose my chance, not when she was so close to me. "How she should have been more mature and listened to you more."
Wanda chuckled bitterly. "Funny how she realises that now."
"It's better late than never," I said, trying to hide the desperation in my voice.
"It doesn't matter anymore," she snapped, before closing her eyes and exhaling slowly. Glancing at me apologetically, she said in a softer tone, "It's best not to get in the middle of it, Kate."
She looked fed up, eyes tired and lips stuck in a permanent frown with the mention of me. When she looked away, I was beginning to lose the little hope I had left of making things right, and I hated myself for it.
"She really messed up, didn't she?" I muttered.
Wanda sighed quietly. "It doesn't matter."
But it did, and we both knew it.
Where had it all gone wrong between us? At what point had I fucked it all up and let my own stubbornness be our demise?
"You've been talking to her lately," I said, looking down at my gummy worms, losing my appetite. "That's nice to see."
"I'm just trying to move forward, Kate," she said tiredly. "I can't exactly avoid her forever."
I hoped that wasn't the only reason she'd been making more of an effort with me. And I wished that I could be back in my own body already, so I could make even more of an effort in return.
I couldn't bear the thought of losing her for good.

"Geez, if I'd known you'd react like that, we'd have gone somewhere a long time ago." Buggy couldn't contain his laughter as he looked at Catherine, who was squeaking all over the living room, clenching her fists happily.
"I’m sorry. I’m so sorry!!" She collapsed onto the couch, throwing her legs over it and wrapped her arms around Buggy's neck. Smack. Smack. Smack. "I’m so happy! Love!” Smack. "Love!" Smack. "Love love love you!" Smack. Smack. Smack. "Where do we start?"
"We'll start when you calm down, Cathie-pie. Repeat after me, please" He took three deep breaths.
"Okay! Okay! I'm calm!" She made a concentrated face and took one breath. Then a second. Then blurred into a smile and started squealing again.
"Oh my goodness!" Buggy grabbed his head and fell on the back of the couch.
"Sorry!! I promise! I’m calm! So.. you told you know the guy.. Who.. Who…" She froze and began to smile again.
Buggy looked at her intently and sighed heavily. "Okay, squeal!"
Catherine attacked him with hugs and squeals again.
"Are you finished?"
"Yes!" Smack.
"You sure?"
"Yes!" Smack. Smack.
"Ok! Our first step. I'm gonna go to a restaurant in the morning. I’ll talk to a man about this thing from your sheets. In theory, he can give us directions or if there's a map or something. We need to figure out where to start."
"Can I come with you? Ple-e-ease!" Smack.
"Are you squealing done for the day?"
"Yes!" Smack. Smack.
"You sure?"
"Yes!" Smack. Smack. Smack.
"If you behave well, woman, I’ll take you with me."
"You're the best!!" Smack. Smack. Smack.
⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭
In the morning, Catherine made the biggest and most delicious breakfast. Poured him the biggest cup of coffee. Gave him the longest morning kiss. She miscalculated a little with that last point, as Buggy immediately wanted to forget about breakfast after that, but she fought back. Catherine sat back in her chair, watched him eat and tried to appear calm. He sighed and told her to get ready.
They reached a small restaurant, the sign resembled a wave, the fronts were blue-green in color.
"Water 7. Another weird name of another weird place." Catherine whispered under her breath and squeezed Buggy's hand. "Is there someone scary inside?"
"Nah, there's a trio running this restaurant. They and one of their little buddies really piss me off sometimes. But I gotta hand it to them, this place has good scotch."
They went into a fairly bright room. Everything inside looked like water. Drawings and paintings on the walls, chairs in the shape of waves.
"Oh my god! Why is he in just his underwear?!" Catherine didn't expect to say it so loudly. She threw a glance at Buggy, who rolled his eyes.
A large man in an unbuttoned shirt that resembled a Hawaiian shirt, wearing underpants and barefoot walked up to them. Instead of the usual human nose, he had a metal nose.
"Buggy the Sneak!" Said the man in shorts.
"Franky!"
"What happened in your life that you came to get scotch at 8:00 in the morning?"
"Scotch later. I'm here to see you on business. Catherine, give me the papers." Catherine kept her gaze on the man in his underpants. She considered the color of his hair, his nose.
Franky in turn considered her. "Who's that?" He pointed a finger at Catherine.
"She's with me" Buggy took Catherine lightly behind him.
"With you? You mean.. Dear Lord! I can't believe someone messed with you, also sleeping willingly, Honey, if you're being held hostage, tell me."
"Hey!" Catherine shouted.
"Let's get back to our business. Have you heard anything about this?” Buggy pointed to the sheets.
"The blue diamond? Yeah, but I think it's just rumors or maybe not. No one knows exactly. What? Why are you asking?"
"Just curious." He shrugged his shoulders.
"Stop lying to me. You're one of the biggest losers in treasure hunting. And I don't believe that you are asking me about that diamond because you're "just curious."
"Hey, you! The man in the underwear! It's not your business at all. If you need money for the information, I’ll pay you." Catherine took three steps forward.
"Catherine, calm down!" Buggy put his hand on her shoulder and tried to pull her in behind him.
"No, we're here to get information. Instead, a grown man who can't spare the money to buy his own pants sits there and insults you." Catherine glanced at Franky. "How much do you want for coordinates, information, or whatever it is you have?"
"Let's go to my cabinet." Franky patted Buggy on the shoulder and gestured him into his office.
A chill ran down Catherine's back. She felt a little uneasy that because of her inability to keep quiet, Buggy might get hurt. She put her hand on his back and looked at him anxiously.
"It's all right. I'll be right back."
Franky and Buggy walked out. Catherine sat back in her chair and put her elbows on the table. "You should be silent sometimes, Catherine.." She muttered to herself.
"Oooooh! God, what a beautiful girl I have behind my counter!!!" Suddenly there was a loud squeak or squeal.
Catherine turned around and noticed a tall blond man in a suit running towards her. "Geez, who are you?"
"Pretty-swaaaan!!!! Where did you come from?"
The stranger grabbed Catherine's arm.
"Go to hell, who are you?!" She yanked her arm back.
"Sanji-san!!! And who are you, oh beautiful girl?"
"C-Catherine!"
"God, what a beautiful name, Cathie-swaaaaaan!!!"
"Don't call me Cathie! There's only one person in the world who can call me that!"
"I’m sorry, Cathie-swaaaan!!"
"Fuck!!!" She rolled her eyes.
The strange blond man continued to circle around Catherine and tried to take her hand until he was stopped by a loud "Hey, step away from her!" She turned around and saw Franky and Buggy.
Catherine jumped up from her seat and quickly walked over to Buggy. "Save me, this blond guy is crazy!"
"So, sorry, clown. That's all I know about the blue diamond." Franky uttered with a slight smile.
Catherine lookd upset.
"The blue diamond? I know something about it!" The blond man stopped spinning and sat down on the chair.
"Yeah! So, honey.. Tell me!" Catherine said and put her chin on her hand.
⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭
"Forgive me, I have a habit of writing everything down. So, first.. we’re going to this city. And there we will find her?" She pointed to the notes in her notebook. "Do you feel similar vibes, my Buggy Bear?" She asked loudly from the bedroom, started rummaging through the closet. "I've almost got all the things I need!"
"Finally! The car is ready. You're late again, my cotton candy."
"I’m not late! I needed to pack some women's things. Stop grumbling! I’m comi…" Catherine suddenly stopped talking and scanned him with her eyes.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" He imitated her gaze.
"I just…" She tried to find the words. “Sneakers, Jeans. T-shirt. The black denim jacket, and your hair is in a ponytail. You look too sexy, Buggy the Clown." She took several steps towards him and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Are you going to hook another girl?"
"God, no, of course not. I got enough of this little shit in my life." He pointed at her nose with one hand.
"My blue-haired asshole…"
"I’m listening."
"Stop grabbing my ass!"
They drove for a couple hours in the car. Catherine practically kept her eyes on Buggy, constantly repeating that he looked sexy and hot as hell in his outfit, with his tail and driving. He was embarrassed and turning as red as his nose.
They reached a town called Little Garden, got a motel room and at Catherine's insistence went looking for the bakery Franky had mentioned.
"Onward to Arabasta." Catherine read the name of the bakery. "Do you guys get normal names around here?"
As soon as they entered the room, they immediately saw the young woman of medium height with long wavy light blue hair.
"Wow, her hair color is similar to yours. Are you two related by any chance?" Catherine whispered into Buggy's ear.
"Do you seriously think all people with blue hair are my relatives?"
Catherine shrugged.
"How can I help you?" Asked the girl behind the cash register.
"Two coffees, five raspberry jam donuts, three blueberry muffins and we're also looking for Vivi." Catherine shifted her gaze from the display case to the girl.
"Then you're in luck. It's me." Replied a rather pleasant voice and began putting the order into a bag.
"Oh, great. We're looking for information on the blue diamond. All we have so far is information about a scepter divided into three parts, hidden somewhere in the pyramids. Can you give us any clues?"
"First of all, good morning!"
"God, here we go again!!!" Catherine rolled her eyes and dropped her forehead onto the counter near the cash register.
"Cathie-pie, you're starting conversations the wrong way again." Buggy stroked Catherine's back, took her hand and led her to a table. He went back behind the cash register counter and had a very long conversation with Vivi about something. Catherine watched them with her arms crossed and an unfamiliar feeling visited her.  She thought for a second that she was jealous.
Buggy and Vivi walked over to her and sat down at the table. Catherine instinctively pulled her chair toward him.
"Anyway, he and I have had a talk. I have a condition. I'm telling you what I know..."
"Great!!!" Catherine clenched her fists joyfully.
"But!" Vivi interrupted her. "You're going to play a game of liar’s dice with me. And every time I lose, I'll tell you part of what I know."
"Fuck!!!" Catherine grabbed her head and practically flopped off her chair under the table. "Ok! I’m in!"
Vivi silently got up from the table and walked out into the back room.
"Are you sure?" Buggy whispered.
"Do we have a choice? God, why doesn't anyone ever just want to tell everything they know. First, that damsel tricked me into some caves and I almost died there. Now that girl wants to play around so she can tell me something. Maybe she's just bored and doesn't have anyone to play with? Dear God, make friends and play with them!"
"Well thanks to that girl from our previous adventure you have me now." He laughed, put his arm around her shoulders and kissed her on the temple.
"Yep. And now you piss me off every day, fucking clown. I hate you!" She narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms.
"Cathie-pie, that's the eighth time today. You're going for the world record!"
Vivi returned with aspiring cups and five dice. She sat down at the table and silently slid everything toward Buggy and Catherine. They looked at each other, took one of their dice and rolled it.
"Five." Vivi said.
"Three." Buggy said.
"Four.. Fuck!" Catherine's head fell back on the table. Buggy lifted her back up.
"I'll start." Vivi spoke.
They put dice in their cup and shook them up. They flipped the cup face-down on the table to keep the dice hidden and secretly roll their dice at the same time.
"Three 3s." Vivi replied.
Catherine peek at her own dice. "Four 3s."
"Two 4s." Buggy said calmly.
They raised their cups.
"Three 3s.." Catherine whispered. "Fuck! Next round!".
Of the six rounds, Catherine and Buggy won only 2 of them
They shook dice under the cups again.
"Four 6s!" Catherine said loudly.
"Five 2s." Buggy said calmly again.
"Three 2s." Vivi replied.
They raised their cups.
"Four 6s!!! Yes!!! Tell! Tell us something more!!"
Vivi smiled. "Ok. The scepter will lead you to the diamond, but they are hidden in different pyramids."
"We know that!" Catherine furrowed her brow.
"Do you want information or do you want to argue?" Vivi questioned, shaking the dice in the cup.
"You will need a cryptex to open the place where the diamond is stored."
"Where to find it?"
"Next round!" Vivi rolled the dice in the cup and set it on the table.
"For fuck's sake!" Catherine dropped her head back on the table. Buggy picked her up again. "Okay. Eight fives! Buggy, you got what?"
"Five threes." Buggy said calmly. He could already hear the irritation in Catherine's voice.
"Six twos." Vivi swirled the cup around the table.
"Liar!" Catherine shouted and lifted everyone's glasses. "Oh my god! We won!!! Now tell me more!"
Catherine listened intently to Vivi's story and took notes on everything.
"Well, not as much information as I would have liked, but thanks anyway! And by the way... Where's our coffee?"
Catherine jumped out of the bakery, squealing. "Yaaaay! Well! We have some new data, copies from the books. We'll have to see if there's anything in them about the cryptex. We also have donuts and muffins!" She ran in a circle around Buggy and couldn't hide her happiness.
"I'm tired and excited! Tired and excited!" She threw herself around his neck. "Let's go out to eat! And have a drink! And get wine for our room at the motel!"
⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭
They got back to the room quite late.
"God, I'm tired and I wanna sleep!" Buggy practically collapsed on the bed.
"Thanks…" Catherine said quietly.
"What?"
"Thank you for supporting me in this endeavor."
"Come on, cotton candy! Two fools in pursuit of something that may not even exist!" He laughed and sat down on the bed.
"But fools are lucky…" She whispered under her breath. "Okay, I'm going to take a quick shower and get back to you. Drink your beer or whiskey or whatever you want." She tiptoed over to him and kissed his cheek. "I love you!"
Catherine came out of the shower wearing only Buggy's t-shirt and her underwear.
"My pajamas need more time to dry completely." She walked over to the table near the TV and poured herself a glass of wine. She looked at Buggy, who was lying calmly on the bed in red and white striped underpants, leaning his back on the headboard and clicking the remote control through the channels.
"What are you doing?" She asked quietly. Catherine took a sip of wine and took two small steps towards the bed.
"Nothing, just looking for something interesting, but so far I've only found shitty shows. How’s the shower?"
"Okay. I missed you there." She tilted her head and watched carefully as the dim light from the lamp on the night table fell on his face.
He extended his hand and called her to him with his fingers. She took another sip of wine and put the glass on the table.
Catherine took three steps forward, climbed onto the bed, sat on his lap so that his legs were between hers and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Hi!"
"Hi, my pretty girl."
She didn’t take her eyes off him for a long time, running her hands over his hair, shoulders and arms.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Should I be afraid?" He narrowed his eyes and asked in surprise.
"Sh-h, clown!" She looked into his eyes for a moment, took the red-and-white rubber band out of his hair, then tilted her head and kissed him on the lips. Buggy instinctively wrapped his arms around her waist. Her kiss became deeper and more passionate, her breathing quickened.
She ran one hand over his chest and lowered it down to his boxers. She felt something hard between her legs. "Well, good evening, Captain Buggy!" She smiled slightly, took off her t-shirt and ran her lips along his neck.
"Fuck, cotton candy!" He placed one hand on her thigh, then moved it on her stomach and gently lowered his hand into her panties. She felt his fingers digging into the soft skin near her crotch.
"Do it." She whispered in his ear.
"My little Cathie-pie always swears at me when I do that, and now you’re asking me to do that?" He replied sarcastically and kissed her neck.
"Shit, clown. Are you gonna chat or are you gonna do your job?" She replied and moaned slightly when she felt his fingers found his way to her clit, rubbing it vigorously.
"Fuck…" She arched her back and head backwards, her breasts in his face. He flicked a nipple with his tongue and she sighed in pleasure. She felt him slowly move inside her, her walls sending waves of pleasure against him. She whimpered in response, her body once again arching, not knowing what to do with the arousal. He was holding her back with his free arm, amused at how quick she was to react.
"You ok, my little pie?"
"Stop asking stupid questions, fucking clown. Just d-d-don't.. fuck.. stop, ok?"
"That’s my girl." He smiled widely. He adored the expressions she made. And he made sure to push his digits in and out in a rhythm that resembled that of her moanings. Catherine's moans intensified when he gradually moved his fingers to get faster, more forceful. Catherine lost her breath when she felt his fingers on her special spot. "Oh god. Fuck! That's it.."
"You like that?"
"You will be the death of me, Buggy-sama!" She whispered in his lips.
"Ugh! Don't call me that, baby."
"Fuck you. I will.. fuck..ca-all you.. yeah.. as I wa-ant..fuck." She kissed him eagerly and couldn't stop moaning through the kiss. She clutched her fingers into his back, realizing that she was almost reaching orgasm. "Fuck, shit!" She buried her head in the crock of his neck and kept silent for a moment. He felt her heavy breath on his skin.
Buggy pulled out his hand and wiped it on the towel. "Is my pie happy now?" He stroked her hair.
"Your pie is really happy. But wait, my Captain. I have news for you. We're not done yet." She kissed him on his lips, stood up and took off her and his underwear.
She knelt on the bed and gently ran her hand over his cock. "Tell me… Buggy the Genius Jester, do you have any orders? Wishes?" She whispered, continuing running her fingers along the entire length.
"You're playing with fire, cotton candy.” He tried to take her hand.
"Na-ah!" She threw his hand back on the bed. "You can watch but touch.. No!" She barely pressed her lips to the head of his cock.
"Cathie-pie…?" He looked at her with a surprised look.
"I’m listening, my silly clown. Don't you like it? Don't you want it?"
"I…I just didn't…expect…" He mumbled.
"Okay, if you don't like it.." She shrugged her shoulders and reached out for her t-shirt.
"No, no, no!! Wait! Wait! I liked it! I loved it!!"
Catherine leaned over him. "Are you gonna be a good boy?"
He silently nodded.
"You will be silent, won't you?"
He nodded.
"Wanna see what else I can do?" She whispered.
He nodded again.
She kissed him on his lips, winked at him and slowly moved down, flicking her tongue over his nipples, down his belly. She wrapped his length with her fingers and touched it with her lips. She could practically feel him arch up as she slowly closed her mouth over the head of his cock, curious, wondering if he'd beg..
He tried. He really tried. He tried so hard to remain silent for the next few minutes, but he didn't do it well. She felt his hands gripping the sheets. She could hear his weak voice, accompanied by "oh, holy shit", "fuck, baby, yes", "more, please, be-e-ging you", "that's it", "i love you, my co-t- fuck c-c-a-n.. fuck".
After she finished, Catherine raised her head and looked at him.
"Are you still alive, my silly clown?" She stood up and sat on top of him. Buggy's gaze was clouded.
"Wow, I’m impressed by your reaction." She laughed and kissed his neck.
"What was that? What just happened?" He asked in a slightly high voice and shook his head to regain his senses.
She grinned and whispered in his ear, her voice a low purr.
"My little revenge on you, blue-haired brat."
"Fuck! You're a bad bad girl, Catherine Mitchell!!"
She couldn't help but laugh. "It's all your fault, Buggy-sama." She put her hands on his shoulders and started tracing her finger over his bicep.
"I told you not to call me that. It's ve-e-ry dangerous!" He croaked in a whisper and put his hands on her shoulder blades.
"I don't give a shit, you know that perfectly." She tilted her head and ran her lips over his lips. “I have one piece of news for you. Right now I want you inside me.”
"Damn! I can't hold you back from this but don't you dare make any claims against me again." He put his hands on her waist.
"Fuck you. You bet I will."
"Stop talking and c’mere, my little shit!"
She kissed him again, rose a little and slowly sat on his cock, letting out a moan.
"Fuck, you're so good!" He whispered and smashed his lips into her.
"Yes, I’m.." She smiled during the kiss and started slowly moving her hips from back and forth. Every movement made his pulse pick up, pleasure shooting through his body. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer. He started growling and kissing any part of her he could reach. She felt him squeeze her ass and grind herself against his hips.
With every kiss from him, Catherine quickened her pace. "I want to feel you deeper." She whispered, digging her nails into his back.
She let her knees slide apart a little further, taking him just a little further and felt how his cock filled her completely. Inside, it felt enormous, thick and tight. She started rocking her hips again, slow at first, then alternating with up and down strokes. He kissed her hungrily, sliding his tongue against hers, moaning into her mouth when her movements picked up speed.
"You feel so right, my Cathie-pie. I just can't get enough of you." He said between kisses.
"It’s my superpower." She said quietly, pulling at his lower lip with her teeth.
Catherine was grinding her body against his, her hips snapping back and forth. She took his hand and squeezed it. "I’m so– close, fuck. I want us to come together."
She picked up her pace even more, breaking the kiss just to moan his name loudly, squeezing his hand more and more tightly. The ecstasy was peaking unbearably, building every time he or she moved.
"Fuck, baby, I’m close. I’m gonna c…"
He kissed her shoulder, her hips moving in short frantic thrusts against his cock. Right before he lost his mind completely Buggy looked at Catherine to see her beautiful face intent on him, and that was the last thing he could think of as he came.
Catherine pressed her whole body against him, feeling every rapid beat of his heart. She didn't let go of his hand and ran her free hand through his wet hair.
"You ok? You're breathing so hard." She asked quietly and pressed her forehead to his.
"I’m totally fine. You?"
"S'okay." She kissed him on his lips. "You’re my other half and I love you so so much my Buggy Bear. Remember that, okay?"
He gazed intently into her eyes. "You’re not just my other half, cotton candy. You're my better half."
"Wow!! My beloved blue-haired asshole said that to me! I need to be on top of you more often so that I can hear such phrases more often." She laughed and wrapped her arms around his shoulders.
"Little shit!" He stroked her forearms, then wrapped his arms around her waist and put his head under her chin. "I love you. And I promise, I’ll never hurt you."
"I know."

@otomeramblings said,
I'm a girl, 23 years old, around 162 cm, with medium length dark brown hair (almost black) and brown eyes. I'm one of those people who are often asked "are you okay? Are you mad?" and no, more often than not that's just how my resting face looks lol
I'm a Scorpio and an INFP. According to my friends, I'm usually very sweet but no one likes to be around me when I get seriously angry ^^; I guess it's because i'm generally very soft spoken and I try to avoid conflict as much as I can, and when I'm upset is one of the times when I actually raise my voice. I have people tell me that I'm smart, but I just consider myself to be an overall average person. It usually takes me a while to fully trust someone but once they've earned my trust, I cherish their friendship for life.
I can fluently speak English and Spanish, and I recently got my English Translation degree. I love to read (both novels and manga) and to discover new music, I also really like dancing (I did ten years of ballet) and I recently rediscovered my love for drawing and writing.
Qualities I would like in a s/o:
-passionate, about anything, really. I'm usually very reserved unless I have something I really want to talk about and I appreciate when others listen, and for that reason I love to listen to people talk about things they're passionate about
-mature, not in relation to his hobbies bit more so in the sense that he can have a serious conversation when needed and take responsibility for his actions.
-patient. Being introverted and kinda awkward, I usually need time to recharge after being social and even while spending time together there will probably be silences when I think of what to say or even times when I'd just rather we spent it doing our own thing while being together.
Qualities I don't like:
-shouting. I hate it when people shout at me when they're mad because it makes me tear up immediately, I would much rather you tell why you're mad in a calm tone so we can work things out.

✧ The way I scREAMED when I saw your url 🤭 I love your writing so much skdhksdhksjd thank you for requesting a matchup. 😳💞 Stay safe! I hope all goes well for you!
I’d match you with: . . .

➜ HOW YOU TWO FIRST MET ; The blue sky was dotted with fluffy white clouds that drifted lazily in the gentle breeze while you were on your way to buy new drawing pencils. Your current ones were not exactly in the best condition after being used too many times. A sigh escaped from you as you fastened your pace. In all honesty, you would rather stay at home and maybe watch one of your shows but you knew if you didn’t go out to buy those now, you never would. As one particular building came to your sight, you suddenly stopped in your tracks. It was a flower shop. The vibrant display of flowers covered the table outside. Bold purple, soft pink and light lavender flowers sat right in front of you as well as some others you didn’t know the names of. The sweet smell of blossomed flowers filled your nose as you inhaled and exhaled. They were so beautiful that you couldn’t help but to reach at a lavender, the purple petals felt like soft velvet against your skin. The chime of the door opening ringed into your ears, drawing your attention away from the flowers in front of you. A man with a blue striped T-shirt, a pair of black pants and black leather shoes came out of the building with a bag you thought had flower seeds in it. A brown trench coat with a blue inner lining slung over his shoulder, beautiful, dark blue hair rustling as he gave his thanks to the employee before closing the door. The man turned around and you swear you stop breathing for a moment, because oh my god how dare someone this handsome come in to your field of view without a warning. After realizing that you’ve been staring at a stranger for a good seconds, you hesitantly looked away. But just your luck, while you decided that it was the time to carry on with your mission, you dropped your purse to the ground. You groaned before bending over to pick it up but to your surprise, you see another hand reaching over it? And most importantly, you saw that it was that handsome stranger when you looked up??? He gave you a kind but awkward smile as he hold out your bag to you. You muttered a “thank you” before grabbing it. After that cliche moment, there was an awkward silence between you and the man, but he decided to speak up to start a conversation by asking if you liked flowers. The conversation smoothly flowed from there. He just had that aura of gentleness radiating that you couldn’t help but warm up to the stranger, who you later learned the name of, quickly. He even offered to accompany you to the shop you were going, which you agreed if he didn’t mind. Your relationship steadily developed from there. To be honest, it wouldn't be obvious at all that Tsumugi has a crush on you. He's friendly and sweet to everyone he meets most of the time so nobody thinks twice whenever he's with you, except maybe Tasuku. His underlying feelings for you would show in the little things he does, the way his eyes shine whenever you laugh, how his ears perk up whenever he hears your name, how he somehow memorized all your favorite foods after you offhandedly mentioned it once before. For someone who majored in psychology, it’s kind of hilarious how dense he is regarding his own feelings. He would mistake those feelings of his as a weirdly strong platonic attraction for you and continue spending time with you in hopes to appease the feeling but be confused as to why he always felt unsatisfied. He finally realizes how smitten he is for you after a long internal monologue he had after he almost had a heart attack when you hugged him once for whatever reason.
➜ PERSONALITY COMPATIBILITY ; Tsumugi is the walking epitome of every single thing you’re looking in a S/O. You want someone passionate about something? This man literally couldn’t give up on his dream and love for the performance art. He’d be more than willing to talk about how acting involved a broad range of skills, including a well-developed imagination, emotional facility, physical expressivity, vocal projection, clarity of speech, the ability to interpret drama etc. He’d try bunch of different gestures in front of you and ask you which one you liked the best. He also absolutely loves it when you are the one who does the talking. His strength is CANONLY listening to others after all. He just gives off this aura that compels you to think that you can talk about anything and everything with him. Just like you, Tsumugi has a great need for harmony and dislikes any conflict so if there were to be any fights, they would be resolved in a day or two with the two of you talking it out. He majored in Psychology in university, and is very good at reading people so if you’re both in a social gathering and he senses you need to take a break, he will hold your hand and walk you somewhere with less crowd and noise. When you want to be alone, he’d give you the space you need and if you want to spend time he would be there. He is a pretty clueless baby at the start and would try to ask people for help on dating advice. He will however remember every single memory you two will and have made. You’ll never see him forgetting any milestones in your guys’ relationship. His way of saying “I love you” is through the flowers he picks and grows. As someone who can be shy to vocally express his love for you, he handpicks each flower based on their meanings with the hope that they could accurately convey the emotions he holds for you. The very sight of your smile as you watch each tiny plant grow kindles a budding warmth inside him, as if he’s a bee intoxicated by the nectar of your happiness. And to him, the vision of you happy is prettier than any flower in his garden, pushing him to always keep you bright and blooming.
➜ SHARED ACTIVITIES ; Tsumugi canonly moon/stargazes with Misumi so why wouldn’t he do the same with his S/O? It’s a cool, romantic and surprisingly unique activity to do together. There aren’t many activities one can plan for a date that are sweeter or more intimate than a night spent together under a beautiful, sparkling sky. You would ask each other questions about one another, without being afraid of letting the conversation slow down. This is a date to relax and linger over. If not that, I can totally see him taking you to a botanical garden. These places are beautiful and not too busy in general. Bonus points if you bring a camera and get some nice photos together as a couple. i’m so soft rn 🥺 But I feel like your most common date would be either tending the garden in the mankai dorm or just doing your own little things while being together. You might be writing on the table while he’s going over his script for the winter troupe’s newest play one more time or he might be grading his student’s test, since he’s a tutor and all, while you’re drawing. I see Tsumugi as someone who reads a lot so maybe both of you can read the same book together and discuss it afterwards. These types of dates are great for discovering how the other person views the world. One might learn that their significant other is passionate about a social justice cause, their favorite author, or their philosophy of beauty. These dates are great for sparking good conversations and they are introvert friendly. Or something even better: reading aloud. Reading out loud to each other can be incredibly sweet. And, as spiritual counselor Davida Rappaport says, "just the fact that you are both close and sharing space is ... a nice way to spend an evening."
➜ ZODIAC COMPATIBILITY ; Tsumugi is a Capricorn, his birthday being December 28th. When Scorpio and Capricorn make a love match, they get an opportunity to not only enjoy a loving relationship and learn the value of being a pair, but also to grow and mature as individuals. These two may be wary about sharing themselves with one another at first, and this emotional caution may dampen the initial impact of this relationship. These two tend to be a bit cautious (Capricorn) and pensive (Scorpio), and it takes a while for them to feel comfortable with a significant other. Though they may be shy of getting involved and not the quickest to trust and share, these two Signs will discover that they can have quite a profound connection — one of friendship and deep loyalty. What’s the best thing about the Scorpio-Capricorn love match? Their determination toward shared ideas and their strong devotion to one another. They can open doors to one another’s souls and show one another new ways of perceiving and feeling.

Sex, Drugs, and The Rolling Stones: The Redlands Drug Bust
At the heart of celebrity drug culture in the mid-1960s was the uneasy alliance between the press and the police. One such partnership emerged in 1967 between The News of the World and Scotland Yard in England. In that particular year, this tabloid began campaigns against many rock bands including the Moody Blues, Cream, and the Who . At that time, the news of the world represented the TMZ or National Enquirer in the press. The paper had earned the nickname the Screws of the World due to the fact that it primarily reported on celebrity sex scandals. The first star to be subjected to shabby treatment and misrepresentation by the tabloid was Donovan when arrested for marijuana possession. A gap began to develop between these newly famous rock stars and the press when in the past more traditional entertainers had been given much more leniency to their private lives. In early 1967, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Brian Jones began to be pursued by the press again and again about recreational drug habits due to a story that year in The News of the World. In February, a story was published specifically on the Rolling Stones, which mentioned a member of the band talking about drugs, while taking Benzedrine tablets and hashish. The article claimed that to be Mick Jagger, but when in fact it was Brian Jones. Two days later Mick Jagger filed a lawsuit against the newspaper for libel. Furthermore, they quoted Jones talking about using LSD, but once again his words were misrepresented because in reality he had said marijuana. The newspaper did this on purpose because at the time LSD was seen as a much more dangerous drug than marijuana. Other celebrities also believed that the News of the World actually knew that was Brian Jones, but used Mick Jagger because it would sell more newspapers. Yet, a problem emerged because Jagger actually had an alibi for the night in question. The newspaper began to immediately look at the possible financial fallout from his lawsuit. They then decided to place two reporters on the Jagger day and night in order to prove of his drug use making their article completely accurate.
On February 11, the newspaper received a tip that the Rolling Stones were engaged in a drug party at Keith Richards home on his Redlands estate, which could be found in Sussex. The party was attended by a few of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards’ friends including Jagger's girlfriend, Marianne Faithfull, art dealer Robert Fraser, photographer Michael Cooper, and antique dealer, Christopher Gibbs. Brian Jones had planned to attend, but he was finishing up work on a soundtrack album. He planned to stop at the party, once he was finished. The other person at the party emerged in David Schneiderman, who was well known in party circles as the Acid King. He often walked around with a briefcase filled to the brim with LSD. Reportedly, the party was being thrown in order to give Jagger his first acid trip. Everyone at the party dropped acid around noon of that Saturday. In the early evening, George Harrison of the Beatles and his wife stopped by, but they did not stay very long. The raid by the police would happen the following day when 18 police officers including two females performed the raid. Nobody was arrested on that day, but fairly quickly Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were charged with major drug offenses. Robert Fraser was also charged at that time because he had been carrying heroin in his pocket. Many believe that at the time of the raid Jagger and Richards were coming down from the previous day's acid trip. Richards would later say, “There’s a knock on the door, I look out the window, and there's this whole lot of dwarves outside … I'd never been busted before, and I'm still on acid.” In actuality, the police found very little in terms of illegal activity that day. There were a few roach joints laying around and amphetamines possessed by Jagger. Untruths began to immediately come out about the party as it was erroneously reported that they were having an orgy. A false story began to emerge that Jagger was eating a Mars candy bar out of Marianne Faithfull‘s vagina. This did not happen. Faithfull would make the comment saying you have to wonder where people's minds were at back then. For his part, Richards was informed by the police as property owner he would be liable for any drugs found on any of his guests. He said, “I see. They pin it all on me" At that point, Brian Jones called to say that he would be driving down shortly, but Richards told him to not even bother since they had been busted. These drug offenses at the time carried quite a bit of jail time, as well as jeopardizing any chance to tour America because they would need to obtain a travel visa. Their manager, Andrew Oldham, fearing his own arrest fled to America in order to avoid any legal issues.
One of the first things that the band did after the raid was to find out who had informed on them. Their paranoia began to go into overdrive at this time. At first, they believed it to be their chauffeur. Friend Nicky Kramer, who was also there had actually been assaulted in order to get him to give up the informant, but it did not work. The most likely person was probably Schneiderman, the Acid King. Yet, by the time anyone realized this, he was back in California. Another example of their paranoia came in the fact that they believed the raid happened after George Harrison had left out of respect for the Beatles. The Stones were being singled out specifically by the police. Within a week, the band needed to figure out a legal strategy due to the seriousness of the charges. The fact that Oldham had left the country almost immediately struck the band as him being a coward. Allen Klein would devise the legal strategy and publicity for the band. The bust actually started to seal his fate as the bands ex ex-manager. The raid also worsened Jagger’s friendship with Brian Jones. From his point of view, if the guitarist had not been talking so much, then none of the problems with the News of the World would have ever occurred. In hindsight, Jagger was probably fooling himself about the raid because it was Richards that invited the Acid King and other outsiders to the party. Christopher Gibbs would later say that it was actually brought upon them by them. In order to escape the press, the band went to Morocco, where Brian Jones got very sick. He met up with Keith Richards and Anita Pallenberg in Tangier, which eventually led to the latter leaving Jones for Richards. Jagger and Richards would both spend the night in jail following their court date. They were sentenced shortly after with Jagger receiving four months in prison for four pills, while Richards was sentenced to a year in prison for allowing cannabis to be smoked on his property. During their trial, Marianne Faithfull recalled one of the silver linings throughout the affair was that Mick and Keith wore an incredible wardrobe to court. She saw them as almost romantic figures in a novel.
The saving grace for Jagger and Richards actually turned out to be something they would never suspect in a million years. The editor of The Times, William Rees-Moog published a scathing criticism of their sentences entitled, “Who Breaks a Butterfly Upon a Wheel.” This was a reference to an Alexander Pope poem talking about torture. He would write, “Mr Jagger received a more severe sentence than would have been thought proper for any purely anonymous young man.” On appeal, Jagger’s sentence was changed to a conditional discharge, while Richards’ sentence was thrown out. With the help of The Times, public sentiment began to turn against the police regarding the sentences. There seemed an outcry that Jagger and Richards were being persecuted. On the day that Jagger and Richards got their release from jail, Brian Jones was arrested for drug possession. Once again, Klein needed to bail him out. He later joined the band at a party at a London hotel when Marianne Faithfull pulled out some hash. Klein immediately grabbed it and threw it out the window yelling, “You people are stupid.”
In the aftermath of the entire ordeal, some interesting things came out of it, which would go on to affect the band. Keith Richards would say in 2003, “When we got busted at Redlands, it suddenly made us realize that this was a whole different ball game and that was when the fun stopped. Up until then, it had been as though London existed in a beautiful space where you could do anything you wanted.” Marianne Faithfull would go on to say that the acid trip along with the raid that day strengthened the bond between Jagger and Richards. After that, they were pretty much inseparable. To people like Rees-Moog, the sentence of Jagger was particularly eye opening because the pills he had were in his words “sea sickness tablets.” Anybody else would have merely received a fine. Another thing about the bust emerged in that it further cemented their bad boy image as the anti-Beatles. One of the more lasting impacts from the bust came in the fact that this became the first time the establishment had really gone after rock stars, as it was being played out in the tabloid press. This became a signal to everyone in Britain that traditional values had pretty much gone out the window by this time. This started TMZ for rock stars.
