Down a Johnny and Chozen rabbit hole inspired by (in order) @nomercyonlytears @variousqueerthings and my personal belief that both Johnny and Chozen have bodily lifted Daniel at some point and been very proud of themselves

Thinking and thinking and thinking about the Cobra Kai S5E6 therapy scene where Kreese’s therapist (who he hallucinates as 17 year old Johnny) says “you wanted them all (meaning his students) to be like you.”
SPOILERS for Noise Breaking below—if you want the scene to have full impact maybe read this after reading it? Shoot it’s like one line, but what a line—-okay you’ve been warned, let’s continue:
Thinking and thinking and thinking about the apology scene in chapter 39 of Noise Breaking where Johnny tells Daniel: “I was trying to make you more like me.”
Anyway when I was reading Noise Breaking I didn’t even think about how Johnny trying to beat and intimidate Daniel into being more like him might have had something to do with how Kreese shaped Johnny first. And the whole Noise Breaking scene starts with Daniel asking Johnny if he still believes in Kreese’s No Mercy philosophy so the subtext is there to make this parallel! And Noise Breaking chp 39 came out before Season 5 dropped—so like! God!! What synchronicity! What use of the cycles of abuse theme!

Dropout is great because while on a traditional network nowadays you would have one knockout concept and be done with it never revisiting it again dropouts like “okay we love doing that now let’s do it AGAIN and AGAIN and make it BETTER and more COOL and more ENJOYABLE and let’s keep doing it until our hearts tell us to stop and we love doing it so that might be never so long as we’re passionate about it” and that’s so fucking cool, in an era of commodified creativity the enthusiastic passion for the arts that drives dropout is not only refreshing but heartwarming and cathartic as a fellow creative who would love to have the chance to do what I love to do like that.
