Does anyone else weren’t a fan of extremely male/female-coded media when you were a kid and grew up until you realized you're non-binary?
That's me 🙋🏻
Bonus if you loved characters who defied gender norms and didn't know why!
(Of course, it's not a rule, you can love gendered media and be non-binary!)
(Also, my autofill replaced "gender norms" with "gender nonsense" and it is so accurate. I love you, autofill!)

Y’know how witches be like “I’m gonna turn you into a frog!” as a curse and all that? Yeah autistic and nonbinary people would be begging for that spell because frogs are secretly our true form.

Talking to trans and nonbinary friends and one of them casually asked me “oh yeah how did you choose your name?” And I started to reply before I realized I had never actually told them that I picked my own name? Which seems like yeah that should be a given when talking to trans and enby folks but I’m afab and my name is Marlowe so most people who don’t know assume I was given that name. I thought it was really funny, their reasoning was that my parents generation wouldn’t pick that name for their child lmao. Which is fair, my legal name is a saints name

it's never funny to say "that's unfortunate" or something to that effect when someone comes out as a trans man or some other type of man, or tells you that they are attracted to men/a man. it will never be funny, it's literally just queerphobia. queerphobia extends to queer men, too

hot take: the word nonbinary only exists because cis people took our word.
the word for trans people who weren't men or women used to be genderqueer. then cis gays and lesbians used "queer" as a reclaiming word when it was targeted at genderqueer people, usually assigned male at birth. i do like nonbinary more than genderqueer, but it just goes to show how little we nonbinary/genderqueer people have.

I think it's incredibly important to remind folks on testosterone or folks who want to reverse patterned baldness about their options, but man, does it sometimes suck wondering how much of our insecurities about our hair stem from backwards beliefs that to strive towards beauty is not only preferable but "makes you good."
As someone with a rather masculinized body pre-medical transition, patterned baldness has always seemed neutral. Hair is incredibly important (hell, much of my own energy is spent on my hair because I like it), but the pressure to have hair, to have hair the "right way" is something that I absolutely loathe.
I'm not here to judge people who don't want patterned hair loss or baldness, I'm here to say that those traits will never make you lesser. Not only is it neutral, but it is also just as worthy and beautiful.

As we move towards the summer months, this is a healthy reminder that:
BMI is misapplied at best and pseudoscience at worst.
That genetics have far more affect on body type than any other factor.
That a "healthy weight" varies wildly from person to person.
That your body's actual healthy weight shouldn't require constant dieting to maintain.
That some studies have shown that being slightly "overweight" based on BMI actually makes you more resilient against injury and illness.
That unless your weight is actually directly causing you mobility issues or pain, it isn't a problem.
That movement and food should be a source of joy, not self discipline and stress.
That everyone looks better in clothes that fit properly.
That being hydrated and well fed is far more important to your health than you realize.
That fed is best.
That chiseled abs are only really visible if you are dehydrated.
That feeling the sun on your skin and bird song can heal the parts of you that years of dieting and weight watching and self criticism has injured.
That you have no obligation to be sexy or beautiful.
That you should never say things about your own body that you wouldn't say about a friend's or a partner's.
That it is not a moral imperative to be healthy or mobile or skinny.
That the people who judge you for your weight are fighting their own demons.
That People are absolutely terrible at guessing a person's weight. How you dress and carry yourself has far more impact on perception.
That You don't have to be beautiful to enjoy a beautiful day.
Better happy than skinny.
Feeling good is better than looking good.

Non-binary culture is being shoved into binary boxes no matter what we do like:
being told we're either cis people who want attention or a binary trans person still in the closet
being asked if we're afab or amab when it isn't necessary
being invited to "women and nonbinary" spaces but only being allowed in if we look woman-lite
being told we're invading trans spaces if we don't transition because apparently we aren't trans enough
being told we taking trans resources if we do transition because we still aren't trans enough
